If King’s Landing was Washington, DC...

After the tragic deaths of her parents, Arya leaves her private school in the North to stay with Jon in King's Landing. Under the impression that she needs to be closer to family during this difficult time, Arya begins to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the loss of her mother and father and finds, as she suspected, that everything is not as it seems. Seeking revenge she concocts a plot to expose the deep-seated corruption in the Baratheon presidency. Things only get more complicated when Jon's new roommate (and old friend) offers to help; Gendry Waters may not believe in Arya Stark's plan but he has some secrets of his own that just may be what Arya needs to take down the President.

Total published word count:  93501 which is my highest ever. It’s like I lost my job and had extra time to write or something.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? Um, yeah, a lot more than I expected, especially impromptu fic.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Oooh that is a tough one. Check and Mate, maybe? I really like the structure of it and the resolution. But I also adore Metamorphosis because it is literally the only fic in its tags and I wrote it just so it could exist. 

Did you take any writing risks this year? I wrote ten thousand words of fic for brand new ship and character tags in a dead fandom. Also WTF was I thinking to write Love is a Wild Thing- it was so stressful to combine the prompts from Gendrya week into one fic and then try to get that fic out in one week because it was sandwiched between two other fic exchange assignments. But I did it (though posting late for the last two chaps) so yay me? Plus I actually like it better than my other post canon fics- it felt like comprehensive closure for GoT for me, tbh.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? Finish An Exchange of Kings and submit a NYR fic for Yuletide.

Next up: Middlegame Maneuvers. I have a playlist and an outline (and a header already made lol) but I’m still flipflopping about the POV I want to open the chapter with.

Most popular story of the year? Check and Mate sorta buried everything else I wrote even though it was posted in late November. Like I got two comments just this morning! I’m so used to people only kudos-ing after a fic has been posted for a week; it’s really blowing my mind.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: one single thread of gold because it draws on original Star Wars canon and I pulled off a non-linear timeline and it still made sense. But it’s sibling soulmates relationshippy which is never as popular as romance soulmates shippy.

Most fun story to write: Check and Mate was one of those stories that flowed out in a few days, no grind or outline.

Most unintentionally telling story: Metamorphosis felt so id to write. Rojer/Asia was a formative ship.

Biggest disappointment: Defaulted for the first time ever. :( I’ve been getting attacks of cluster headaches and I just could not get out more than non-cohesive bits so I hit the damn button. Two other people wrote amazing pinch hits but i still feel so bad about it.

Biggest surprise: Check and Mate for sure.
