Ed/Stede — Superhero/supervillain codependent relationship

I’m honestly just fascinated by the stereotypical ‘can’t live with you, can’t live without you’ twisted codependency that a superhero has with their designated supervillain (Batman and Joker are a good example of this). [Also this prompt is largely inspired by the music video for ‘Genghis Khan’ by Miike Snow link here].

So let’s see this with Ed and Stede!

Ed is a notorious supervillain who secretly is getting bored, when you’re the best in the game who’s left to beat? Every so-called hero just cowers at the sight of him, and no other villain is his match. The thing is that Ed’s sidekick (Izzy), does most of the killing and evil deeds for him.

Until Ed hears about a new hero on the scene. Who sounds ridiculous and fascinating and just the kind of challenge Ed is looking for.

Eventually Ed and Stede fall into a sort of rhythm, Ed sets up some sort of big thing in hopes that Stede is the one who comes to thwart him, and every time Stede does. And Ed falls more in love each time.

- It doesn’t have to be this exact plot, I’m more interested in the dynamic so if you’d like to change up the specifics please do!

Bonus: - Stede, new to the whole ‘hero’ thing, foolishly tells Ed his real identity on their first meeting. And Ed? Absolutely besotted tells Stede his too. - The crew of the Revenge as an Avengers-style superhero team, with Stede as their ineffective leader, of course.

Bond girl holo Garak, please!

This is the document title for my multichapter Garashir fic spectre, which actually only has ~1 chapter left to go! (Unfortunately progress on it has been stalled for quite awhile haha, so idk when that will get finished and posted...)

The premise is that the Bond girls in Julian's spy holoprogram seem to have suddenly been replaced by holographic Garaks... and then it turns out that ALL of the NPCs have been replaced by holo Garaks, including the Bond supervillain! >:3 It's just a fun spy holoprogram AU full of action movie tropes and ridiculousness. Also, much of the fic takes place in an evil lair that is based on the setting of the Genghis Khan by Miike Snow music video (a video which is ESSENTIAL for any Garashir fan to watch at least once), because why not XD

Anyway, I’ve put a snippet from chapter 8 below the cut! At this point they are just tidying up some loose ends...

Garak opened the bag and pulled out the electrostatic quarantine box that contained the spy holoprogram’s data rod.

All of the backup files for the program had been wiped from the holosuite data banks, and this was now the only copy. Miles had brought this little box down to the infirmary after prying the stubborn tendrils of the rogue holoprogram out of the system in an undoubtedly heroic effort. Miles had said something about how this was what they’d done on the Enterprise the last time a megalomaniacal sentient hologram had gotten delusions of grandeur, and he’d assured Julian that the program would be safely imprisoned in here.

Garak placed the little glowing box on the table next to his mug of tea.

Then he proceeded to take out the various holsters and straps that had held weapons under his clothes. Julian remembered sliding his hand down Garak’s shirt, feeling around for the gun, and he couldn’t help wondering what Garak looked like wearing nothing but his weapon holsters. He was sure that his heart was thudding loud enough to be heard in Upper Pylon 3.

Garak removed the Cardassian disruptor from its holster and checked the settings. He gave Julian a reproachful look.

“Sorry, Garak, it’s station policy! I couldn’t stop Odo from confiscating it to restrict its maximum energy output, but I did make sure that you got it back at all.”

“I suppose it’ll have to do,” Garak said with a dramatic sigh.

Suddenly, Garak was charging up the weapon and for a blood-pounding second Julian thought that Garak was going to shoot him. Julian flinched when Garak aimed the gun and pulled the trigger, but after he processed what had happened he realized that Garak had only shot the glowing box on the table that housed the spy holoprogram and their own dangerous doppelgangers.

The box sparked and fizzled. It looked slightly melted and it began spewing the acrid smell of burnt electronics.

Garak disengaged the disruptor and set it down, then picked up his tea and slouched back into the cushions, seemingly satisfied.

This was long overdue and I feel like an idiot for not thinking about this sooner but when Mic had his hero all tied up? I thought Miike Snow's Genghis Khan was going to appear. Oh my gods. I just watched that video and it was so Villain!Mic I was almost screaming and the ending was so good.

I think it’s time that I come to term with the fact that I don’t have the mental bandwidth to continue collecting and commenting on five video essays and at least three songs each week. (Maybe if my day job were less stressful, but that’s not going to happen, so...)

But I do like sharing music I find, because I love music and I have a huge music library, and there’s so much fun music in the world-- so this is the new thing I’m trying:

Once a month, I’m going to make a mixtape on this cute little site called Kaseta, where you can make and share mixtapes. (I think they might even have some compatibility with itunes or spotify or something, but I don’t know for sure since I don’t use either. After getting burned by Amazon for having the audacity to go to another country and try to watch a movie I had already paid for, I’ve been done with the concept of not owning my own shit. Bandcamp forever!) I’m also going to turn each into a physical mixtape, since I just found a site that sells colored cassettes, but I’m still deciding what colors I want.

We can thank Key’s campy, fun, retro album Bad Love for this. I realized that one of the “hoo!”s in Key’s Helium reminded me of a “hoo” of a similar pitch in Mystery Skulls’ Freaking out, and spent a couple days putting together this mixtape of retro, synthy, poppy goodness.

I mean, how can you not be inspired by Bad Love when the album photoshoot looks like this?:
