Genkins stole O'Malley's master plan and didn't have to be the villain. O'Malley was right there! You cannot change my mind.

RVB S17 was the only time I actually went; "Yknow what, why wasn't this in the S14 roster?, this is actually fun!, despite it feeling awfully uncanon." I also agree that RVB ended semi well with the final, but come on, S17/16 was fun, wasn't it? Despite it's.. flaws? I liked Genkins, I even liked coach prestwood, even if he was a brief character. same for Dylan Andrews and Jax (Not digital circus Jax, like.. Spartan Jax. look it up btw it's funny /j) Idk maybe I am weird. but I actually thought Genkins was the best part of that season. Oh and Caboose saying goodbye to Church twice, in the final and S17 wasn't in my bingo card for 2019/2024, but here we are. Genkins, I'd love to see fans rewrite him to fit the story more, hell if no one does it, I will. I truly think he's a interesting character. despite his loki similarities.

Does anyone else ever think about how Genkins probably could have broken open the goddamned seal and shattered the timeline beyond recognition (from a purely rvb standpoint) or at least done significant damage with one single act:
Saving Allison Church (Prime)
... To be fair, is Prime really is anything like Tex, Genkins may have made the safer choice (for him and his plan) by not saving her.

Ight yall, my pen to my tablet is broken, which means we're restarting this lil series I unintentionally abandoned.
Gimme an rvb character for me to make a concept page for tdoam. The ones I've got left are:
Caboose (I never did a full concept page for him, only a half one)
Church
Carolina
Simmons
Lopez
Kaikaina/Sister
Locus
Temple
Loco
Doc
Grif
The Director
The Counselor
Genkins
Tex
Maine/Meta
South
ARCON AI form (not an rvb character, but a major character in the story)
I'm aware that some of these already have canon faces, but the point of the concept pages is to flesh them out in my own style, so yall lmk which one I should do (first come first serve, I'll be addressing comments in the order they appear in my notifications)

thoughts while rewatching rvb season 17 of course none of this really matters because the retcon but whatever
-Honestly not having church back feels like a missed opportunity. -So Donut part Ai now cause Chrovos save him? Okay. -Despite everything Donut still hasn't forgotten he's almost died. -I still don't think it was a good idea for Chrovos to tell Donut how to fix things but at least they explain it. -Doctor Grey commits insurance fraud -Wash please don't explain in front of the enemy -God 17 is so cringe -stop with the speeches and get on with it -Genkins pretending to be Epsilon is so mean, I need more angst fics -Wash having to shot Donut over and over
Time travel doesn't help with Wash's character disconnect, nor with setting up the tragedy of project freelancer. They make so many chances and then turn around and do fuck all with it. I get Carolina but Maine has the bruteshot they should be "friends" by now. Nor should Wash be so low on the leader board. I cannot believe that Wash was ever 'forgot to pull the pin out of the grenade' bad in freelancer.
-Time travel and they still don't show the Dinos vs Robots fight :( -Caboose is the first one to get it again - They literally had a whole Wash bounces back bit, but sure Carolina the one who survives things that would have broke most people (shaking my head) - I seriously just have god I hate this god I hate this in the notes -yay Doc help's Donut -Donut say pink instead of lightish red around 1:13, but he couldn't keep it since it's noncanon -'Church this will make much more sense if you go to bed'
I think Tucker moment to fix time would have been more gut punching if it was the point where he toss Felix the grenade. They could still have Genkins temp him, it would be fixing his mistake in trusting Felix, making it so much harder for him. But nooo they can't take the chances that they fucking made.
-Nice job breaking it hero/ fixing it villain, Donut giving Genkins the push to betray Chrovos first. -So much shipping fuel 'if he's single there's no hope for us' 'everybody out I'm gonna fuck him!'
The fear thing was another missed opportunity. They could have done so much more and better. It Should have gotten more time instead. I mean Sarge loves violence, he betray the team for war, expending on the office bit would have been more interesting. Him having face that he is tried and still not being able to handle it. Grif's is exercise really? And Simmons's is a Joke.
-I get the pride thing but come on we shit to do Carolina, and they ended up helping anyway! Didn't something like this already happen? but it was Tex? Twice!? -They should have saved the budget for a Chrovos and/or Genkins fight - the ending was kinda mehh, being retcon twice doesn't help
-'I'll sure miss knowing what's going on' ~Caboose

iirc we never got a full explanation of why Wyoming's time loop worked like that. In general, I assume the idea is that the 'main' Wyoming Consciousness jumps back into the body at the start of the time loop (ala mental time travel) when he activates a reset. But it leaves the remnant body and counterpart mind behind, which is why Tucker was able to permanently kill him via surprise and he wasn't able to reset, while also explaining why they all got left over.
The Church ones are not explained but iirc I think most of church's time travel stuff has been said to have been simulations Gamma put him through, so the duplicates are probably just copies of Alpha (Besides Yellow Church who is Caboose's mind's view of Sister. It's weird).
Season 17 complicates that since Time Travel there does not create time duplicates but my assumption there is that it's due to who is powering it. IE, since Wyoming is powered by an AI it leaves those remnants, but since in 17 they're using mental time travel in a time paradox created by Chrovos&Genkins, it doesn't.
Actually that might explain why they get left, the time loop literally breaks time to make it work, which creates an area where the 'timebroken' Wyomings are dumped. When time is already broken you're able to do those jumps freely without creating duplicates.
Probably not intended since different writers but it works.

If I was going to... "adjust" some things in the whole time-travel seasons of RVB, without changing TOO much, I would actually put more of the emphasis on both Donut AND Doc (O'Malley too, naturally~). What I mean is, they both get ignored/shoved off to the side. They've also been very close in the past, so them getting the spot-light while ALSO still getting pitted against each other, is really intriguing.
Imagine if early on, Chorvos was disguised as TWO different time-god entities, one telling Donut he was the special chosen one, the other being more manipulative with Doc like- "I can give you the power to take control and get revenge on the people who hurt you". Donut still falls for that like usual, but Doc very specifically keeps trying to reason with the others... instead of him just spending time with Grif, the first paradox we see is; EVERYBODY got separated from each other, and the only person with them initially is Doc. Who, unfortunately, gets ignored again. OK, O'MALLEY TIME!
After that, they all get mixed-up and mis-matched into different groups (so the same interactions still happen). The point of Chorvos doing this is to simply cause MORE paradoxes and break time faster, and it helps to trick Donut and Doc / O'Malley into thinking they work for two different time-gods, making them fight. Then there is the REVEAL, plus Genkins shenanigans, so eventually both Donut and Doc / O'Malley work together to try and fix things (Doc tries to return to the moments he was with everybody solo, but they keep not listening properly... he finally has to let O'MALLEY talk to them for them to take him seriously, and it's a whole lesson about how everybody might ignore Doc, but he's also been ignoring O'Malley. while this makes them understand something is wrong, they still haven't broken through the paradox, so the return to Blood Gulch with Carolina still happens. just like with Doc, Donut finally lets his anger out to make everybody LISTEN).
