Summary: To appease his worried mother, Sheldon employs the techniques of a self-help book to try and make a friend.

AN: I plan to write a new chapter once a week. It may change at the end of the school year. On the other hand, I tried to add more to the story. I hope you guys like it.

Y/N's Pov

I am walking to lunch, and when I round the corner, I see Mary and George looking through the lunchroom window and talking to each other. I make a confused face while listening in on their conversation. "Look at him. It breaks my heart," Mary says sadly. "Poor little guy. Sitting all alone", George says sadly while responding to Mary's comment. "I don't know why his brother or even Y/N can't sit with him. Actually, Where is Y/N. I don't see her anywhere."

"I'm right here," I say, spooking Mary and George before continuing with, "Also, I tried to sit with Sheldon on his first day, and he said it would be best for me to sit with people who have the same intellect as me. I found that rude because he meant Georgie, and I am so much smarter than Georgie. Anyways, Georgie doesn't sit with him because he says In school, they don't know each other". I look between Georgie and Sheldon, then look at my godparents. "Yeah, come on Mary, when you were in high school would you have lunch with a nine-year-old," George asked Mary. "Yes, I would have," Mary responded.  "Well, there is something wrong with you." I took George's words as a sign to leave.

"Well, I'm... gonna... go," I told the married couple before heading into the lunchroom to sit with Georgie and our friends. I sat down to Georgie, trying to fit as many grapes as he can into his mouth. "Fourteen," he yelled out while all of Georgie's friends cheered him on. Georgie spits them all out before turning to me. "What did you think," Georgie asked me, trying to get my opinion on his 'cool' trick. "Georgie, if I wanted to see you stuff your mouth, I would just wait till dinner. In other words, not that interesting," I told my best friend. Georgie replied with a sad "oh" before going back to talking with his friends. I went back to finishing my newest sketch of a finch.

Georgie and I walked into the house. "Georgie, would you do me a tiny little favor," Mary asked Georgie while he was getting a drink out of the fridge. I sat with the girl I thought of as a little sister before saying hi. Georgie responded back with a "like what" before Mary asked Georgie to sit with Sheldon. I already told Mary why I don't sit with Sheldon. Missy with her smart remarks told Georgie, "Don't do it. I ate with him in second grade, it really hurt my social life." Georgie walked off while replying to Mary with a "No thanks". I kicked Missy under the table, then gave her a 'seriously' look. I shook my head and followed Georgie to 'help' him with his homework, which was more like do his work.

I don't follow Georgie because I'm his lost puppy. I follow Georgie to help him. Without me, Georgie would grow up to be a homeless man with great hair. I am basically Georgie's Guardian angel.

"Georgie, why do I always end up doing your homework? At this point, I don't even think you know how to read. Those magazines are just for show, and you know it. You probably only look at the pictures," I said to Georgie while sitting on his bed doing our geometry homework. "Aw, come on Y/N, don't you know that you're the smartest out of both of us. Without you, I would probably still be in the 5th grade. You were right about something though, those books are for looking, but I can read you." I roll my eyes at Georgie's comment before looking down and smiling.

I admit I might have a bit of a crush on Georgie but we're best friends, and how could I ever compare those girls in his magazine. If I tell Georgie that I like him, that could ruin our friendship, and that would be weird because we live together. So, I just stick to being his best friend. That way our friendship isn't ruined and I can still be as close to him as I can.

"Well I finished your homework and it's 10 o'clock, so I guess this is it. Have a good night," I said before heading out.

Georgie's POV

Y/N walked out of my room. I felt sad because she was gone. We talk all day, she does my homework, and we have practiced together, but I still miss her. "Maybe I like her," I mumble to myself while laying down staring at the ceiling. "Naw, that can't be," I said. I shut off my light and fell asleep.

Y/N's POV

I was leaving my art class when I see Sheldon talking to one of the cheerleaders. It's weird to be seeing Sheldon interacting with people without them running off and crying. It interested me so much I decided to listen in.

"Go wolves," Sheldon said in a monotone voice. Jessica closed her locker confused. Sheldon responded back to Jessica with, "You're a cheerleader, and by saying "Go Wolves" I'm initiating a conversation about something that interests you." "Oh, are you one of those special ed kids," Jessica asked still trying to understand what was happening. The older sister part of me kinda felt angry that she said that, but on the other hand she was talking to Sheldon. "My mom says I'm special. Would you like to be friends" Sheldon asks. She tells him, no, but Sheldon keeps going, "Are you sure? What if I told you I admired your boldly-applied makeup?" Jessica walks off offended.

I walk up to Sheldon frantically and say, "Sheldon, you can't say mean things like that. I'm at the top of the pyramid today, and Jessica is right underneath me." "Oh, I didn't know what I said was offensive. I thought that I was complimenting her," Sheldon says. "Well, just try not to insult people. If you don't know what to say, don't say anything to them." Sheldon replies with an "alright" before walking away from me. I watch Sheldon go before heading to my next class.

I got to my next class and I sat down beside Georgie. "I just ran into Sheldon trying to make friends," I told Georgie while I get the stuff I need for class out of my backpack. "I feel bad for whoever had to put up with Sheldon. That boy is not one for making friends," Georgie responds to my comment. "Well, I think it's cute, but I feel bad because he didn't make one friend." "You sound like my mom," Georgie says. I glare at Georgie. The teacher walks in and starts the class.

I hear Mary yelling about how Sheldon made a friend. I felt happy for him. I feel like Sheldon would really benefit from having a friend. I mean, I have Georgie, and we're inseparable.

I also heard Sheldon ask if he can start his rocketry hobby again with his new friend and I dipped. The last time he launched a rocket he killed a family of squirrels and my eyebrows. I wanted to bond with Sheldon so I helped him with his rocket.

I went downstairs to watch tv with Missy. She was watching DuckTales. "I'm surprised you're not with Georgie," Missy comments as I sit down with her. I roll my eyes and say, "Georgie isn't my whole life. I talked to Sheldon earlier, and now I just want to hang out with you. Sheldon has a new friend now, I have Georgie, but I feel like you don't have anyone to hang out with. So, what do you say tomorrow I take you to get your nails done." Missy's eyes go wide and she excitedly shouts, "Yes, I'm gonna go tell mom!"

When Missy and I got home Mary told us that Sheldon's friend was coming over. Missy and I sat down to talk and watch tv. There was a knock at the door, and that set Mary off. "He's here," she yelled. "Everybody, stay calm! Just a normal day, just a normal dinner," she continued. Missy asks if she and I can eat in front of the TV, which obviously didn't end well.

We're all sitting at the dinner table, except for Mary, when George starts asking Tam, questions. George makes it weird when he asked Tam if his mom was named Kim-lee. Me and Georgie look at each other with a cringed look.

Georgie releases us from the weird vibes when he asks Tam, "So, Vietnam, like in Rambo." Tam responds with a "yes" and then Georgie continues with, "That's a cool movie." Georgie asks Tam if he's in Rambo and I look at him and elbow him in the ribs. Georgie says, "oww, what was that for" before Tam tells him "no". Sheldon brings the conversation back to George's comment, but it is cut off by Mary serving dinner.

We learned a lot about Tam's family and life. It was very interesting. Georgie said a couple more stupid things, which earned him a few more elbows to the ribs.

I was in my room, getting ready for bed. Georgie walks in and sits on my bed.

"How was the day with my sister," Georgie asks me. I sign for Georgie to get off the bed and say, "We had fun. After our nails, we went to Dairy Queen and got a blizzard. I think Missy and I really needed today, you know." Georgie helps me make my bed and continues the conversation, "I missed you today." "Is Georgie Cooper jealous? Georgie Cooper didn't have someone to do his homework and now he's sad," I said mocking Georgie. Georgie grows a sad look on his face and says, "No, I missed my best friend. Not the girl that does my homework, or the girl that helps me clean my room. I miss the girl I talk to for hours. The girl that makes me feel special compared to the rest of my family. I miss that girl and that girl is you."

"Wow, that was deep for a kid that went a couple of hours without seeing me, but I know how you feel. Missy and Sheldon don't know how to do the things we do. I almost made Missy cry by insulting her earlier. I think I hang around boys too much," I say getting ready to lay down. Georgie climbs into the bed with me and we silently talk for the rest of the night.

          “Who can tell me why we celebrate Halloween?” You lean against your desk, your students staring eagerly at you. You’ve got twenty minutes to kill before the day is out, twenty minutes and you’re free to your weekend. You had plans for this weekend, sexy plans, witching plans – cake and champagne tasting with your betrothed. A winter wedding, snow falling, Crystal sipping…. All you had envisioned. If only one of these pupils would answer your question. Tapping your foot, your shift your gaze over each of them, regaling them to participate and raise their hands. “Iliana?”

           Iliana looks up from the piece of tape she’s been pulling off her desk the last five minutes. She stares up at you, eyes wide. “Human’s trick or treat, which is when people go to strangers houses and beg for candy.”  

           “Yes, but why do we celebrate it?” You ask again. “Harry?”

           “It comes from the ancient Celtic tradition of Samhain,” Harry, your perfect pupil, always excelling in every class, stares up at you. Of course, he knows the answer, his fathers are both professors of Magical Studies.  

           “Correct, and what is Samhain? Alexis?”

           Alexis rolls his eyes. “Um, I think it wards off ghosts. Which is funny because you can’t do that.”

           “That’s not true!” Georgie interrupts. “You can ward off evil ghosts and spirits, but not good ones.”

           “Still, you’re getting rid of bad spirits and that’s the point,” Harry argues. Man, he loves arguing. A litigator in training.

           “Samhain is what started Halloween, but why is it important for us magical folk to maintain the holiday?”

           Your class falls silent, eyes distracted by a peculiar shape forming on the wall behind you. You watch their eyes growing wide and uneasy, a few start reaching for whatever magical protection they’ve brought from home, stowed inside their desks for emergencies. They’re trying not to scream; you can see it in their eyes. But you don’t turn and look. The shadow begins twisting, growing larger and scarier with every passing second. Fangs and spindly fingers crawl towards you, not hesitating while students begin yelling.

           “Miss, do something!” Audra yells.

           “It’s not dangerous,” You answer. “Who can answer my question?”

           The shadow peels off the wall, it’s cold and silk body wrapping around you. You sigh, this is ridiculous.

           “Alright kids, please say hello to Mr. Kim, who has stopped by to give us all a fright. I’m afraid all he succeeded in was scaring you.”

           The shadow drops, it’s embrace instantly falling from your form. Mr. Kim steps out from behind a bookshelf, having made himself paper thin in order to pull off the scare.

           “Hello children, sorry for you the fright. All Hallows Eve is upon us and I am very excited.”

           “Mr. Kim, did you know that Jack-O-Lanterns are made because of a drunk guy?” Lincoln asks. She pushes her glasses up her nose, curly brown bangs pushing past the frames.

           “Ah, Stingy Jack, yes, I am aware,” He smiles at her before turning to you. “Thank you all for humoring me, I hope you have a haunted weekend.”

           Mr. Kim doesn’t wait for goodbyes or pleasantries, instead he snaps his fingers and with a mostly quiet pop, is gone.

           “Isn’t he your fiancé?” Auden asks.

           “Yes, yes he is,” You answer.

           “I don’t get it. Why is he trying to scare you if he loves you?” Fallon questions.

           “We have a bet, and he is trying desperately to win. Alright: let’s say our new weekly poem and then it’s time to go!” You stand and pull down the poem as your students stand too.

           Millie shuffles to her feet, huffing and puffing the entire time. “Do we have to?”

More on how the ranking system works: 

I already mentioned how the system is partially based on the tagging system used in Gangsta. where Exorcists are placed in a class D through A (note: there is a class higher than A, but there has only ever been one X Class Exorcist in the history of the IAPS), and then given a ‘score’ out of 6 with 1 being the highest. The letter at the end signifies which department an Exorcist belongs to (i.e. ‘H’ for HUNTER, ‘N’ for the standard police). When an Exorcist retires, whether permanently or on standby, they are given an ‘R’ after their rank. 

An Exorcist’s rank is subject to change when they undergo a mandatory reassessment every 5 years. Think of nurses and/or EMTs when they have to re-certify. Every Exorcist is responsible for making sure their assessment and ranking is up to date. 

Rank doesn’t necessarily dictate position in a Unit but it does help to have a high rank. Merit, observed traits, and performance in the qualifying exams (SPA or HPA) determine who is a good fit for leadership....at least, that’s how it should be (corruption is, unfortunately, still a thing).

Heartland 12x09 - Long Road Back review

Hey... Heartland people! We’re baaaack - and guess what? SO IS KATIE. and she’s in more than two scenes. We also got a Cassandra mention! (if only we actually saw her)

Georgie

Georgie almost faints during a run after she’s skipped breakfast, even to the point of throwing up. This isn’t a good sign.

Bigger warning: Georgie insisting she needs to practise more even though Kim is very very reluctant to let her, even to the point of saying rest is good after all this work. How about that foreshadowing from Amy? “Star should have never raced last week. This is exactly what can happen when a horse isn’t sound.” --> Trade in Star for Georgie and.... I mean this is pretty accurate.

Yes she wants to do everything she can to win but if Kim knew the lengths Georgie was going for, i’m not even sure she would allow it. She might even disallow (remove) Georgie as her client. This is 100% not Kim’s fault, since Kim is not there even for maybe 75% of the time she’s training/working out and is only there for the time in the ring practising, not for every meal or run. However maybe a talk about balance in life would help? Even if Georgie may not listen all together. 

Thing is, I also don’t blame Lou and Peter for blaming Kim initially. It’s a gut reaction, however Kim is right that Kim gives her the tools but Georgie is the one putting most of the pressure on herself - and thinking Lou selling the business for Switzerland didn’t help.

Anyways, Georgie wins the race but at a cost. She faints and is diagnosed with physical and emotional stress - but not an eating disorder as we suspected. Disappointed but not unexpected. I’m glad they didn’t go the whole eating disorder route - truthfully - if they couldn’t do it justice. At the same time, I think it could have been a great opportunity for Heartland but I digress.

It ends as fast as the problem begun. Georgie has a talk with her parents and Lou lets her knew she didn’t come sell Maggie’s - she sold Maggie’s because she wanted to be home more and that they will support Georgie in whatever she decides. So... problem solved?! Eh. Still wish there could be a little more... consequences, because it can’t be solved - it rarely is - THAT easily.

Anyways she calls Wyatt after her fainting spell and he doesn’t answer. Perhaps he’s just busy, perhaps he’s ignoring her and giving her space. Either way I don’t blame him for being upset for how she treated him last episode.

Ty, Amy (and Laura)

Laura does seem aware that what she’s doing to Shooting Star (Star) is not ethically correct; you can see on her face she’s deep (deep deep x1000) down worried. I’m also not convinced “one more race” is all she really wants but y’know. Actions and words are two different things, what can I say. I can also tell that even though this is money motivated, she is still trying to convince herself that Star and herself will be okay.

Luckily, they manage to pull Star from the race. Big ups to the the race manager person for believing a vet over Laura. Anyways, Star has acute renal pain - and his (her?) life is in danger even if Ty won’t say and it’s safe to say Laura made the situation a lot worse than it could be... and Ty also didn’t help his situation with Amy.

What can I say about Ty? Oh Ty, oh Ty. This ones ALL on you. When will you learn to not be so dismissive of your wife... no, YOUR PARTNER’S methods. That’s the bonus of having a partnership of people with two different views. When Amy suggests adding feeds, bringing in Cassandra (I’m aching for a Cass/Amy scene, I looove their friendship and they’ve come so far!) among other things, Ty dismisses it saying he doesn’t think it’ll help. And I am 100% on Amy’s side this time. This isn’t a partnership, this is more like Ty the vet and his ‘employee’. Only he can have final say and this isn’t right - at all. Like I said, actions and words are one thing and Ty keeps on apologizing but keeps on making the same mistake and acting the same way (see last episode)... so let’s see how long this lasts.

I’m also very disappointed in Amy for caving and saying sorry when she shouldn’t be sorry about anything. Hold your ground and stand up for what you believe in.

Anyways, Laura helps Star eat... and Ty wants to Laura to not be around Star. Amy is more on the end of ‘but she did help Star....” until she hears that Laura did shockwave therapy when Laura comes in to hand in her resignation. Oh and did I mention that THIS IS ALL WITHOUT LISA KNOWING WTF IS GOING ON?!?! There is so much wrong here.

Lisa

So Jack still hasn’t told Lisa and says that he will indeed tell Lisa before he leaves with the herd. However, like I said, actions and words are two different things and I don’t know if he actually will. But he tried... so I guess that’s worth something? What I don’t understand is why Amy and Ty couldn’t let Lisa know - why couldn’t it be Jack? Anyways now Laura is resigned and LISA HAS NO IDEA WHY! or the full story... when she should DEFINITELY know by now.

Jack, Tim and Mitch

Tim and Mitch take a meeting with Fred... without Jack. Something tells me this won’t end well. What I don’t get is why they can’t meet half way - for example if their current supply is X and Fred wants Y, why not meet halfway at a point between X and Y? But then again, maybe that wouldn’t lead to drama so...

Anyways Jack is NOT happy to hear about Tim and Mitch taking a meeting and you know what? i don’t blame him. Tim also takes the reigns on this whole herd thing, pushing them towards the river when Jack knew damn well the river would be too deep and running too fast. Turns out Tim was just taking out his anger on the whole Jack doesn’t want to expand problem.

“Things tend go wrong when you take shortcuts” - Jack (talking about the cattle run and the Garland offer)

This time, Mitch takes Jack’s side - or rather agrees that they all need to be on the same page. Which is by far the right page to be on.

Lou

Tim talks up Lou in front of Fred, ever so subtly and Mitch’s reaction is... something else. He has no right to be jealous, he’s fricking engaged. It appears that the other shoe has flipped, or whatever that preverbial saying is. In the beginning of the season, it was Lou who was jealous - now it’s Mitch’s turn. Can these two figure their shit out? I’m tired of the back and forth.

Lou asking for advice from Mitch is also super awkward. Didn’t they agree to not ask for advice about relationships/other ex’s to each other for the sake of their friendship? Or am I perhaps remembering this wrong?

Anyways, this guy Fred is obsessed about Grocery Stores - how do you revamp grocery stores? A book called Grocery? Only working holidays for examining Grocery Stores? This guy is definitely not for Lou. It’s safe to say there won’t be a second date.

Anyways Mitch comes to tell Lou - because he totally has the right yo - he doesn’t think the date is a good idea. And even if he is right because they don’t mesh, he also has no right. He’s engaged - and doesn’t seem to be very enthused about it.

Episode ends with Georgie being happy making chicken noodle soup - and you know what? I ship Lou having a healthy relationship with her ex (Peter) and being home more.

The Character You Relate To The Most:

Driver Kim because reliable lololol Saeyoung, I think. I’m as silly romantic and as dramatic as Zen, but I’m more similar to Saeyoung in the way we face problems and how we feel around people. Also, his jokes as a way of hiding your crippling depression on plain sight are very relatable (although I’m managing to become more stable, yay!)

Yuuri ALL THE WAY. I strongly relate to him in so many aspects, that’s part of the reason why I fell in love with the show in the first place. For the first time, it made me see things I don’t like about myself on a character I absolutely LOVE, and I can’t tell you how much that’s done for me <3

Mmmm… Pepper Potts, probably? She’s anxiety to the max and I feel like she’s often underappreciated because she’s surrounded by so many outstanding people that her own amazing, strong qualities seem weaker in comparison. I feel like people need at least a person as grounding and caring as her in their lives, and even if I’m not half as awesome as she is, I plan to make my best effort ^^

As for me, I would have chosen:

Jumin Han aaaaaaaaall the way. I love Zen but I feel like our relationship could be more complicated due to how dramatic we both are, whereas Jumin would help me feel more grounded and peaceful and I think I’d bring a spark of colour into his life ^^ He’d lowkey forget how not being hugged feels like

I’m having doubts here: on one hand, I feel very inclined to answering Viktor Nikiforov because he’s wonderful and I’m head over heels for him, but on the other side I feel like I’d be really intimidated by his overall perfection and I’m lowkey kind of interested in Lee Seung Gil, not that I have a type or anything

Okay, I would definitely have a thing or two with Thor and also a fling with his sister Hela, but if I were to have a full relationship and everything… it would probably be with Vision. I recently watched Civil War and Infinity War and I was amazed by how sweet and caring he is, and even though having red all over my face after a make-out session is a concern of mine, his “human” form… daaaaaaaamn. Damn right.
