I really like the latest fic post! Very few fics deal with the calm acceptance that Jaskier's emotions for and relationship with Geralt are one-sided and have him actively take steps to put himself first and make himself happy instead of moping over the state of affairs before reluctantly accepting it while watching as Geralt plays happy families. I'm very into reading more of this if you want to write!
I'm sorry my dear and beautiful anon, this take more time than I anticipated.
Here's what happens when Geralt realizes Jaskier was right and needed him there with and for him. Is it too late, though?
Previous here In which Geralt fails once again
It's funny how loneliness comes in the strangest of forms. He's surrounded by dozens of people shouting his name from the square in front of the stage. Wasn't this what you want it? his mind supplies unhelpfully. Yes, he did want this, the love and admiration of the masses. He is, after all, the artists of the decade. But, well, in retrospective he was young and with little knowledge of life. It's only natural that your aspirations may change thru the years. Don't get him wrong, older Jaskier wants the same than younger Jaskier, but now, he understands that the love of the masses can't fill the void of being unloved unwanted by people close to him, or people he thought were close to him. So, he accepts the award with the biggest smile on his repertory, mocks Valdo Marx and goes to the tavern with a bunch of scholars like him. He drinks, he laughs, he sings a lot of his songs, flirts and play gwent.  And with every sip of wine and ale he peels a little bit of his sorrow, his wounded self-esteem, his beaten heart, and self-pity. He wished Geralt was here, with him, but he's not, so be it. Enough of wanting, enough of this ever-present loneliness. He's resolute. He'll find a place to call home, and he won't resent Geralt.
Maybe a little.
The celebration has reached the part where everyone is drunk enough to dance and sing at the top of their lungs. Jaskier is standing on top of a table surrounded by the locals, he's leading the song. He's sweating all over, his hair a brown wet mess. He's happy. When the front door swings open. It's Geralt. The witcher removes his hood and instantly locks eyes with the bard. Like a hunter finding his prey. Jaskier stops singing, right there and then, fortunately no one notices, the song continues its course.
No, no, it's too late. Jaskier thinks. I've already made my mind. The bard climbs down from the table and pushes through the crowd. His mind it's a volatile compass, pointing at his resolution and to Geralt. It tries to decide how to proceed. It tries to decide which path will hurt less.
"What are you doing here?" Jaskier is proud of his steady voice. Not even the ale could break it.
"I thought I'd make it on time" Reply Geralt, his eyes trying to find Jaskier's, but the bard is looking at a spot on the witcher's shoulder.
"You're late" In that moment the blue eyes look up to meet yellow ones, defying Geralt to name the issue. To name the hurt on Jaskier’s eyes two nights ago. To name the emotion that is now on the bard's eyes.
They both know this isn't about the ceremony, not anymore.
"I'm here now" Geralt sighs heavily and Jaskier laughs cause it's funny really. i'm here now so it must be enough.
And that's the thing, he forgave Geralt many times thanks to sporadic care and attention that would be forgotten later. His heart is screaming within his chest, the poor thing wants to take Geralt back. But no, Jaskier won't listen to it anymore.
"And you are late"
A girl walks past them holding a tray of beers, Jaskier takes one and drinks half of it in one go.
Geralt watches him, anxiety sewing itself on his veins. He can feel the goodbye hanging between them. He fucked up, again, but this time for good.
"I thought Yen’s message was important" Jaskier wipes his mouth with the back of his hand, cursing internally, his tongue is loose by the alcohol. He sounds bitter and resentful. He hates it.
"It is, but this is too" and oh the witcher is trying but instead of being charmed Jaskier gets angry.
"Oh, now it's important, I see. Well, maybe if you have arrived on time for the actual ceremony..."
“…I tried”
"Maybe it wouldn't be too fucking late" A young couple turn to look at them, feeling embarrassed Jaskier lowers his voice and continues. "I appreciate the effort, Geralt, but is an unnecessary one. I’m sorry, my friend” says Jaskier reaching out to place a hand on the Witcher’s muscular arm, trying to convey comradery, an olive branch if you will, for Geralt to take and be gone without blame. If Jaskier dared to look at Geralt's face one more time, he would find sadness, grief, shame, and fear. Every emotion that the witcher always tried to conceal from everyone, especially Jaskier.  “There's an open bar, enjoy the celebration. Rest. I'm going to sleep" In that instant Jaskier heart broke even more. How he wanted this man, how he long for him, decades on end. Even in his resolution he still wants him.
He needs to rest too. He's not young anymore, his feet hurt, and his thighs are trembling from the exertion. So, he turns around up the stairs to his room, closes the door behind and with clothes and all, he gets into bed and sleeps like death.

FMK Henry Cavill edition! Clark Kent, Sherlock Holmes, Geralt of Rivia
Absolutely not! I will not. I refuse. You cannot make me.
Tumblr media
Okay, okay. Admittedly, I haven't seen all of the Enola franchise. I haven't had time to finish the first movie, but I've seen about half of it so I at least have an idea of what Henry's Sherlock is like. F: Geralt of Rivia (because holy god) M: Clark Kent K: Sherlock Holmes I'm pretty sure I'd try to kill Sherlock a few weeks into our marriage, so he'd be dead anyway. And to be completely honest, Geralt and Clark are interchangeable when it comes to sex and marriage, but I feel like Gerlat would be the epitome of DTF while Clark would be the perfect husband.
I need entertainment -- ask away

Less-happy Coincidences
Tumblr media
Part Two of Happy Coincidences
Pairing - Jaskier x Reader Summary - After over a year now, you assumed these 'coincidences' were over. Until the infamous Witcher came across you. Warnings - Wounds, blood, alcohol, implications of sex Words - 2.2K
A/n - I intended a happy ending but I craved the angst
MASTERLIST
The day was nearing an end. You had just finished patching up another one of the Redania scouts which had just returned from their travels. You fixed up a bottle of syrup to help with the pain which stung through his body and sent him on his way. With that done, you began packing away your own things for the night, ready to lock up as the last one working.
Unlike before, you were now in Redania. A city, a part of the four Kingdoms. It wasn't just a small village or town where you were lucky to even find a tavern. They had enough space, enough coin to house at least five healers. Each of you working side by side throughout the day. It was different to what you were used to, but it also paid a lot more. Not to mention, now you were stable, no longer having to dart from town to town.
But just as you were slinging your bag over your shoulder, the door to the building opened. A part of you didn't dare turn around, not wanting to know what was now keeping you from the beer that you desperately desired. "Sorry for the late intrusion." You finally did turn to face the figure. He was tall, much much taller than yourself might you express. Long white hair which shadowed against his glowing amber pupils. You could have sworn he was a God of sorts.
"You wouldn't mind would you?" The man gestured to the few cuts that had wounded him across his chest. "Got caught by a werewolf; their bites are infectious." He informed you, wincing through his words. Yet still, for a man who seemed well aware of a bite which could soon lead to his death, he seemed rather calm.
Sighing just a little, you accepted the fact you weren't to leave work quite yet. "I'm aware." You told him. "Take a seat." You nodded your head towards one of the beds before taking your bag from your shoulder and gathering all the items needed to cure a werewolf bite.
And as fast as you were able, you began patching the man up, staring with the bite. A few herbs were enough to heal it. But, as you were well aware, if it went untreated it could lead to death - or sometimes things even worse than death. Then you went to move along to the other lesser cuts and wounds. "What are you doing?" He questioned, stopping you from cleaning the dry blood which was littered over his bare chest.
You quirked one brow up in response, "Treating you. That's what healers do." You replied as if he were a child.
"My cuts will heal fine on their own, thanks." The man scoffed and went in search for his shirt. His cuts were barely just cuts. Some of them were gashing, bleeding ever so deep that - as a healer - you were concerned.
You stood up as he did, looking up at him with the most stern eyes you were able to. "If these cuts don't heal on their own, which I very doubt they will, they'll get infected. You'll get in ill and thus, you'd die. And then I would be shoved out of Redania for letting one of my patients die." The man only looked back with narrowed eyes and grunted in reply. "So, if you don't mind, let me do by job."
It took a moment or two, but the white-haired man flashed a smile and did as you wanted, sitting back on the bed. And, with a relived huff, you followed him and began tracing his wounds with a cloth dripped in alcohol. "Can I ask you something?" He spoke, out of the blue as you started to thread the worst of his wounds.
"You can ask, there's no saying I'll answer."
The man took that as well enough. "You know I'm a Witcher, yet you still treat me and haven't mentioned it at all." It was easy to spot the Witcher from miles away. The second your eyes caught the white hair and glowing eyes, it was only a matter of putting two and two together.
"You think yourself so significant, Witcher." You told him with a soft giggle. "I honestly couldn't care whether you were an elf, or a King or a mutant. A wound is a wound and all I know is how to treat it." You had gone on. Again, the man replied with nothing but a grunt of agreement. Then you eyes narrowed and you paused what you were doing for a moment. "But you're the Witcher, right? Geralt? The one in all them songs?" You realised.
"The songs were not my idea." You certainly hadn't needed him to tell you that.
From there, you went to continue patching up his serval wounds. Which was when the door opened once more. For a second, you considered telling whoever it was to simply piss off, no matter how dyer their illness. "Geralt! I have just found the most wonderful tavern! I was thinking once we wrap it up here we could-" Jaskier stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes finally landing on the healer which was fixing up his Witcher friend. "Y/n." He called, the name almost foreign to him after all this time. Guess now you knew whose idea the songs were.
You stood up from Geralt, starring right at Jaskier. The other man followed you in standing up as his eyes glanced between you and the Bard, connecting one thing and the other. "You two know each other?" That was an understatement.
"Barely." You answered before Jaskier could say anything. Looking back at Geralt, you flashed a very much forced smile. "You're all done. Now if you don't mind, I was meant to finish before it got dark." With that, you whisked out from the building as fast as you were able. And, as you had wanted to do since this morning, headed for that much needed pint of ale.
Geralt and Jaskier, however, lingered in the building. Geralt looked to his friend, puzzlement sitting in his eyes. "Who is that girl?" He asked.
Oh where to begin, Jaskier thought to himself. "She's kind of the girl." Geralt's eyes widened. Even as a Witcher, he found himself knowing a lot of in depth knowledge of Jaskier's life - not by choice. And his romantic relations happened to be a big part of that.
"She doesn't seem that magnificent." Geralt recalled from one of Jaskier's many ballads which spoke of this most beautiful, elegant women he adored, and also the one which had left his heart broken.
"Well that's because you haven't spent a night in bed with her." The bard commented before shifting from the memorises which taunted him. "Now, beer?"
Geralt thought on it for a moment before shaking his head. "No. I'm going to bed." He told the boy, already walking past him and towards the exit.
But, as Jaskier did best, he wasn't going to let him stop there. "You're really going to leave me to drink alone?" He shouted back at his friend as to try and persuade him.
"Yes." That was all that was said from the Witcher before he finally slipped out from the building, leaving Jaskier to do all but huff.
To the pub alone, it seemed.
You must have been on your third pint of ale when Jaskier wondered inside. A tavern of which was bubbling with energy the bard could only match with his own beer. But, once again, he was forced dead in his tracks. He met your eyes once more: empty. When once they would have brightened with glee at the sight of him. Now there seemed nothing, as if everything the two of you had once had was stripped away.
With the sight of Jaskier, you finished the ale which sat in your cup and got up to leave. Jaskier didn't move. He lingered in the entrance of the tavern, captured by yourself and what you were going to do in this familiar, yet foreign, situation. And, well, your reaction to seeing Jaskier after all this time, was to leave. You couldn't stand it. To look at him across a pub like you had done a million times before, replaying the words you had last spoken to another over and over.
Just as you had gone to pass the boy with the shove of the shoulder, he stopped you. He gripped your wrist and forced you to turn, to look at him. A sense of deja-vu washing over you. "Don't leave just because I walked in." He seemed to instruct.
"And don't tell me what I should and shouldn't do." Jaskier lost that privilege long ago now.
The boy huffed, "You're being childish."
You scoffed and shook your head at the sheer confidence which seemed to come from Jaskier as he spoke to you. "I'll be whatever I like when it's concerning the likes of you." And with that, you shoved past him as you had first intended to do.
The air was bitter and the wind blew across your face. You were sure had you not been engulfed in irritation at Jaskier, you would have noticed the freckles of snow which frosted the city as you walked towards your home. "Y/n! Come on." The bard pleaded with you as he followed right after, facing the cold just as you did. "Don't walk away from me." He asked in a soft tone, contrasting to his voice before hand.
But you did, in fact, do as he asked. Just not in the way Jaskier had particular wanted. "You're the one who called this a shit-show." You snapped back at him, words which had plagued both of your minds since you had last met.
Jaskier's shoulder fell and his expression softened as he took a cautious step closer to you. "I never meant what I said." He spoke as his hands wrapped around your cheeks, filling them with his warmth. Instinct told you that it was safe, that he was safe and that his touch was nothing but comfort. "I am an idiot bard and I drink too much. And I really, really, don't know much about this stupid world, but I know I need you. I hate myself for what I said, truly."
Instinct took over. "You are an idiot and you do drink too much." You reiterated back to the boy, a smile ever so slightly tugging at the corner of your lips. "But it seems I as well need you."
And with that, the pattern repeated itself.
Morning had come far too early for Jaskier. But, by morning, he didn't wake alone. He did, however, wake to loud knocks which had stirred him out from his very lovely dream. "Jaskier? Are you in there?" God, the boy swore he had never wanted to be rid of Geralt as much as he did in that moment.
So the bard slipped from the bed and rushed to the door before Geralt's obnoxious knocking woke you up as well. Jaskier swung the door open to the Witcher, a deep annoyance written into his expression. Geralt took one look at the boy and his lack of shirt before deeming his assumption correct. "Course you were here." He spoke, more to himself than it were to Jaskier.
"And what is it you want? Because, if you couldn't already tell, I'm in the middle of something quite important." An importance Geralt didn't see.
The man raised a brow in question. "Did you forgot why we're here? Big monster that's ravaging a village up from here." He reminded the bard.
"Can it not wait, like just a few more hours?"
Geralt couldn't believe the words spilling from Jaskier's lips. Actually, he could when he remembered the boy who stood in front of him. Do you want to be the reason this monster kills another innocent person?" To Geralt, no love was worth that.
"Not particularly, no."
"Then get ready." The man practically ordered. "I'll be waiting by the Inn you were meant to be staying in." It was like Jaskier was getting scolded by a parent. Still, he did as Geralt had asked and wondered back into your home to gather his things.
Which was when he realised that history had turned on him. Now, Jaskier was the one in a hurry to leave, get on with what the day awaited for him and you were to be the one plagued by that empty feeling which came with waking up alone. But, still, he did as you always had. He got changed and just before leaving, pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
And just like that, he left. You woke up with nothing but space in the bed, never knowing whether these were just coincidences or whether it was destiny choosing to reunited you every time.

I've been looking up the ages of the teen wolves trio and since the only information I found is that Geralt and Eskel are the same age..
This is my headcanon:
Lambert is the rebellious oldest sibling... Slightly oldest.. Just a few months or a year at best.. Enough for him to go:" I'm the oldest here and you two have to listen to me! ". Obviously nobody takes him seriously.
Geralt is the "middle child". A few months older then Eskel. Puberty hits him last, making him the shortest of the bunch during their teen age years.. (I don't know why this headcanon specifically makes me cackle the most but the idea that he goes from tiny little Geralt to.. You know.. ~Geralt of Rivia~ makes me laugh). Even though he's the tiniest he already is the most skilled witcher of the three.
Eskel is the youngest but also the most developed of the trio. He's fiscally bigger than the other two, but that doesn't stop Lambert and Gerlat from baby him. He's the gentle giant that has to break the fights between the other two.
This is just my silly idea.. And since I can see myself drawing more teen wolves content in the future.. now you know about this headcanon of mine.

Skin of Your Teeth
@damatris donated this story idea on @thewitcherbog where Teef Week is currently being hosted. Thank you Dama for such a wonderful idea and for letting me play around with it.
Skin of Your Teeth
Injuries on the whole sucked but there was one kind that Lambert hated more than all the rest combined. Having his teeth knocked out was an absolute pain in the butt. His tongue pressed into the gap left behind when a few days ago Geralt hadn't pulled a hit short during training. It would grow back, Lambert wasn't unduly worried. Maybe he would even match Aiden eventually, if Geralt and Eskel knocked him around enough. He'd lost track of the number of times Aiden lost teeth, seemed to relish it almost, spitting a tooth at an opponent with a bloody grin. Later on, Lambert had found out that Cats deliberately lost teeth as trainees, finding the sharper and sharper teeth that grew back desirable. So they were encouraged to be rough with each other during drills, teeth were a currency of sorts among them. It had left Lambert horrified. Though it didn't stop him from shyly presenting Aiden with the first tooth his idiot Cat had knocked out during a rough and tumble for their first anniversary.
Wolves, for the most part, shied away from the more monstrous look. To them the sharper teeth with each loss represented a loss of their humanity. They were already outsiders in society, there was no need to make themselves even more repulsive. Unfortunately for Eskel, his scars weren't the only thing that stopped him from smiling. While they ached, nothing compared to the horror filled looks when he bared his fangs. The notch in his lip left a couple of his teeth exposed, vulnerable and, despite his best efforts, they rotted and crumbled as they dried out. Though they grew back without fail, he almost wished they didn't. Now, when he smiled, half his mouth looked full of deadly fangs which only served to make him look even more monstrous, half his face distorted by scars. It made him smile less and less. Not that he had much to smile about to start with.
By contrast, Geralt had the most human teeth. He had been so careful, already convinced he was an aberration, there was no need to alienate himself with inhuman teeth. Over the years he looked after his teeth, protected them as much as he could. It paid off, there was only a very minute amount of sharpening to the tips of his teeth, barely even noticeable. Which was how Jaskier had ended up in his lap one evening, questing fingers pulling his lips up to explore the flatness of his teeth while Aiden showed off his sharp fangs for contrast.
"I don't understand, is it the mutagens?"
Lambert snorted and shook his head, finger pushing against his gum where a new tooth was threatening to break through. "Pretty boy has been precious about his gnashers."
Though Geralt tried to grumble back an insult, the fingers in his mouth didn't make him easy to understand. Lambert patted him condescendingly on the shoulder, a finger slick with spit.
"Here." Eskel approached and handed Lambert what looked like bark.
"Oh you beautiful man." Snatching the item, Lambert crammed it into his mouth, tonguing it into the gap his missing tooth had left. "Fuck that's good."
The questioning look Jaskier sent him was picked up on by Eskel. "Willow bark, we keep a batch in the snow. So it's cold and relieves pain too."
"We used to have rings," Aiden piped up. "No snow where we were but the pressure was often enough to help."
It was quite a picture to imagine, frightening witchers sat around a fire and quietly chewing on rings to alleviate the pains of teething again. Jaskier would have laughed if he hadn't seen Eskel's struggles first hand. Instead, he made a quiet vow to look into ways of helping. While the others joked that Eskel would grow a tusk soon, there was a very real edge of worry to their teasing. Turning back to Geralt, Jaskier ran a hand over his teeth.
"No matter their state, I'll still love you," he declared confidently and delighted in how Geralt's teeth were bared because of a smile for a change.

Eskel: LIL BLEATER YOU GOOD?
Lil bleater: AHHHHHHHH
Eskel: OKAY!
Jaskier: what did he say?
Eskel: I don't fucking know, I don't speak goat like you speak Geralt.
Geralt: Hmm.
Lambert: What he say?
Jaksier: “You know jaskier, he is right. You may speak my apparent language, but that doesn’t mean everyone who is close to something will be able to speak it’s language.”
Lambert: That is not what he said.
Geralt: Word for word.
