Ghostface ranking please n thank you
OH MY GOD YES YES YES I LOVE RANKING ALL THE GHOSTIES
My ranking of all 15 Ghostfaces so far (yes.... I'm including Jason and Greg because if I don't, SOMEBODY'S gonna bitch about it I know--)
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ALL 6 SCREAM FILMS
Rankings under the cut
Stu Macher (Scream)
The BEST Ghostface to ever Ghostface. A BIT underrated just because people will sometimes give Billy more credit. But like- hot man. Has no actual motive for killing, Billy was like "Hey, dude, let's kill people" and he literally needed nothing more. Thought up of some of the key parts of their plan, definitely gutted Casey and Steve, probably put Kenny on the van by himself (Billy wasn't around, so-) . Definitely top 3 or 4 strongest Ghosties to date. And the humor-- okay, I could go ON AND ON about Stu, but I'll stop here. Matthew Lillard really took the character from boring in the script to one of the only parts of the original film me and my mother (who's TERRIFIED of horror films and would rather forget them) remembered from our first watch when I was 13. (She said she'll never forget his laugh and that she hates him. ... She then got me a t-shirt of him not 3 weeks later for Christmas. Sorry, Mom-) Great job, man! Stu stole my heart, LOTS of my money, and a large part of my brain, so it's safe to say he'll always be my fave and an icon in my eyes. (Literally wearing my Stu shirt as I type this, what a fun coincidence LOL-)
2. Charlie Walker (Scream 4)
I said what I said. People either adore Charlie or despise him, and I love him DEARLY. Yes, he's very attractive, but on top of that, he racks up one of the highest kill counts by a single Ghostface alone in the entire franchise, beaten only by Roman, I believe. From Olivia Morris, which was obviously his kill, to tossing Rebecca Walters off a building, to Jenny and Marnie... definitely Robbie... Kirby... Kate Roberts... man just went crazy with the kills, and I respect it. He had loyalty, some great lines, a HILARIOUS deleted scene ( ), and he kept cool under pressure, never revealing himself until absolutely necessary. Do I relate to him? Yep. Is that bad? Probably, but I love him anyways.
3. Jill Roberts (Scream 4)
Another maybe controversial ranking, but I love Jill! I think her motive is fantastic, the way that she uses Charlie to get what she wants, and as someone who has acted innocent in situations where I'm definitely not, her acting is spot on. I never thought about it being her until her reveal, and it's still one of my favorites of all time. She is also, I believe, the Ghostface who got closest to the goal of killing Sidney and getting away with it, so congrats, girl! You had the whole world fooled till the hospital! She's a great take on what I think is the modern version of Billy Loomis, and she nailed the innocent act, truly. Did she kill anyone? Probably, but I can't think of anyone who I know is 100% a Jill Kill. Either way, good for her for not getting her hands dirty, or FOR getting her hands dirty! Impressive no matter what in my mind.
4. Billy Loomis (Scream)
Dont worry, Billy fans, he's still in my top 5! The only reason he's not my third is because I think he's just a BIT overrated. If the movies weren't constantly making him seem like he was the only killer and completely alienating Stu (I think there's a reason for that, but I won't explain that here), then I'd put him above Jill. I know that's a weird reason, but it's my reason. Billy is a fantastic manipulator who knew how to get exactly what he wanted from Sid, and also was a repressed drama queen, which I relate to a lot. While Stu was openly crazy, Billy hid behind the stone cold semi-facade. I don't think Billy would ever have gotten as crazy as Stu did, but he definitely showed the drama in several ways that make me smile and laugh every time. Falling down a flight of stairs? Fucking up Stu's couch cushions? Comedy gold every time. I give Billy credit for stabbing Casey, killing Himbry, and killing Tatum. I think the rest were Stu's because of the gutting and where Billy was at the time. I also think he killed Maureen, so a nice 4ish kills for him! Anyways, top tier Ghostie, another one I'll always respect respect and love.
5. Amber Freeman (Scream 5)
I'm gonna be honest, I hated her when I first watched Scream 5. Hated Richie too, but he's still terrible. Fuck him. I thought Amber was a trashy, third rate version of Stu that was extremely fake and her turn from cold to goofy seemed extremely forced. Then I took a deep dive and figured out why. (If you want a full explanation, let me know, I'm trying to stay short here.) So I believe that Richie is this movie's Stu and Amber is the movie's Billy. From her plans, her using the house, just her very cold, calm demeanor in the beginning, she just gives Billie energy, while Richie is just... well, he's the Netflix guy. He makes jokes left and right. But Amber, I think she was trying to be the Stu while Richie was trying to be the Billy. Everyone forgets that Stu was a boyfriend too, (Billy's) Tatum's boyfriend. Amber was supposed to be Tara's girlfriend in the original script. So now, I see her third act as more of her desperate attempt to look like her idol instead of sticking with the persona that served her well for the rest of the film. That really made me appreciate her more, and made her feel even underutilized, as did the Macher house. (I LOVE THAT HOUSE. I LOVE IT. Well, the actual actual house, not the Scream 5 version.) So yeah. Amber was a cold blooded killer trying to be just like the Macher before her, even if that wasn't the part she was meant to play in her movie. Taking credit for Dewey's kill? Absolutely. She was in the cult and she just wanted to piss Gale off by saying she did it. Fantastic lines, wonderful creep factor! Her death- *chef's kiss* Lovely homage to Sidney shooting Billy. And that's my top 5!
6. Quinn Bailey (Scream 6)
The only member of that damn family who did a good job killing. Richie included. Funny? Check. Didn't see her coming? Check. Ruthless? Double check. I don't think she did Gale's attack either, I think that just like Amber, she took the blame for someone else's work just to keep them hidden. Besides that, she was a good character, someone you thought was long gone until she wasn't. Bonus points for her saying Stu was her fave and definitely being the one to stab Mindy on the subway. Maybe not the greatest Ghostie ever, certainly low on kills, but I enjoy watching her a lot.
7. Nancy Loomis, aka "Debbie Salt" (Scream 2)
Another hidden killer who deserved more screen time after her reveal, and more backstory. I love her motive of "good, old-fashioned revenge", and I can see her killing Randy out of rage. Killing Mickey? Nice way to keep things in her favor! Debbie Salt was eh. Don't remember her much tbh- I would've liked to see Nancy more as herself, she just had great potential. Did she take some kills? Absolutely. Got her hands dirty to honor her son. But that's what I don't like. She leaves Hank, then suddenly after Billy dies, she's like the best mother ever?? Killing for the son SHE left?? Her leaving is the reason Scream happened, paired with Maureen and Hank's infidelity-- that's why she's a solid 7 in my book, and the best of the worst. Only goes downhill from here, folks.
8. Mickey Altieri (Scream 2)
GREAT in the Act 3. Other than that? Um... he was okay, I guess? He had some funny lines, but where I really like him is in the possibility possibility of what he's done. He definitely killed for Nancy, he was insane and just wanted people to see him that way. He DID talk to Matthew Lillard in the background of the sorority party... Mickey and Stu working together?? His Act 3 was good, he showed he could be a good Ghostface, scared Sidney, killed Derek... but that's where this ranking and my positive comments about him stop.
9. Wayne Bailey (Scream 6)
Classic parent who wants revenge, angry, pulls it off decently. He has some good moments, funny, a definite suspect, and nowhere near as good a cop as Dewey. Points for trapping the Core 4 (minus Mindy) and Kirby in the second coolest location in the franchise, but that's where my positivity stops. Sam killed him easy, he was a shit parent until Richie died I bet. Did he get his kids to murder? Oh yeah, I think he's the one who made this whole plan up with Quinn and Ethan's help. He doesn't really stand out. Did he kill?? Even wear the fucking mask?? I honestly don't think so. I would put him lower, but compared to the next three... yeah, he's fine at 9.
10. Richie Kirsch (Scream 5)
WHYYYY. WHY. The only goof thing I can say is that like 5 of his lines made me laugh, and he also hates Stab 8. Me too, dude, that looks BAD. Motive? Pretty good, solid movie motive, getting with Sam to get the job done. Ruthless? Yeah. But he's sloppy. He's a Stu without the magic, just trying to make a movie. Him dating Amber?? *vomits* KILL ME NOW. He was 100% manipulated by her, I know he was. A sad attempt of Billy Loomis that leaned more towards Stu, and his cheesy shit throughout the film made his "true colors" seem kinda dull and not very scary. I don't like him. I don't.
11. Ethan Landry [Bailey] (Scream 6)
Like father, like sons!- all in my least favorite 5 of legitimate Ghostfaces. How much screen time did he have?? Not enough. Innocent guy, "I was in Econ!" to "HAHAHA I'M INSANE NOW!!"? I hate it. His transition was too forced, he was bland and stupid, his attempts at faking his knowledge about everything were embarrassing and made him look worse as a character. The easiest Ghostface to spot. I don't know, I mean I get people like him because he's insane and attractive, but I don't. Sorry to all of you who love this guy and his family. His best scene? When Tara stabbed him in the mouth. You go, queen!!
13. Roman Bridger (Scream 3)
Fuck. FUCK. I hate him, I hate this movie, I hate it all. His motive is pretty solid, I actually like it a lot... but he was stuck up, whiney, and underutilized. Like Ethan, low screen time, unbelievable shift from loser to villain- did he even share a scene with Sid?? Talk to her?? And this makes Billy and Stu look like lackeys. I HATE IT. I would've much rather had the Stu leading a Ghostface cult film, but I know why they went this route instead, and I respect that. Like Ethan, the best part about him, and of this movie, is his death. Dewey missing his head like 5ish times before finally hearing Sid and going for the head Thor in Endgame style?? Comedy. GOLD. I love Dewey Riley. But yeah, I just don't like Roman at all. His strengths are his motive, his INSANE kill count (I think he had an accomplice.), and his physical strength. Besides those? Useless. Sorry, Roman die-hards.
14. Jason Carvey (Scream 6)
Not bad for a Ghostface killed in the first 15 minutes. He had the makings of a good killer, definitely in the cult, but his time was just extremely short. Nothing much to say about him, but his only kill was a fantastic start to the film. I would put him higher, because I think he WAS a good Ghostface, but... 10 minutes or less of screen time? Sorry dude, don't know you well enough.
15. Greg (Scream 6)
Who?? Saw him a fridge. That's it. What's his last name, I don't remember- No screen time, not even alive on screen. Nothing more to say. He was probably pretty good though, if he was anything like Jason.
And there's my ranking of all 15 Ghostfaces!! If you want to add your own, feel free to below! If you wanna comment on mine, please be respectful, but I'd like to know why you don't like characters I do, or like ones I don't. If your faves are my faves, share!! I love finding new Scream buddies!! And thanks for listening if you made it this far, that was LONG.

Your official Ghostface rankings??
I’m so bad at ranking things honestly, but I’ll give you a tier list.
S tier: Billy and Stu, seems obvious
A tier: Mickey, Mrs Loomis and Amber
B tier: Jill (I just like the stupid scene where she beats the shit out of herself even though the actress apparently sucks), Quinn and Jason (I know he was a fakeout but he deserved more screentime)
C tier: Charlie (just don’t know much about him, needed more screentime) and Ritchie (love the actor but the character doesn't feel very exciting to me as a ghostface specifically)
D tier: Roman (entertaining and well acted but I hate the movie 3 retcon) and Detective Bailey (Not his fault, actor did a good job but I didnt like the writing of scream 6)
Billy and Stu always stay S tier but the others move around sometimes.

Bexxx's Personal Ghostface Ranking. (Movie Exclusive.)
1.Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. (Yes it is a tie, no it surprises no one, I put Stu a hair above Billy though but I much much prefer them together, is the only way they can and should be!)
2. Mickey Altieri. (I know! He already has taken the number two spot in my heart, it’s insane how much I love him.)
3. Ethan Landry. (I don’t care how new he is, I love him.)
4. Charlie Walker. (I dunno why but there is just something about him, you know? He is a weird little freak and I respect that.)
5. Jason Carvery. (That speech about his professor being just meat? The balls on him, the franticness, I know he was barely on screen but I am obsessed.)
6. Quinn Bailey. (Hot redhead Ghostface who is canonically a slut, now that is a bitch I can get behind!)
7. Amber Freeman. (I love her outfits, and she is just fun man! Also she got Dewey, it hurts, but respect.)
8. Nancy Loomis/Debbie Salt. (I really don’t like her but she’s gotta go somewhere and I hate other people more than her SO.)
9. Wayne Bailey. (Boooo! I don’t care if he is a DILF, ACAB, he treats his kids horribly, tomato, tomato, tomato.)
10. Richie Kirsch. (He’s gross. I know I go on reddit but he is a redditor who is fucking a high schooler and making her do all his dirty work and heavy lifting is LAME!)
11. Jill Roberts. (Her motive is lame, she is lame, I hate Emma Roberts, enough said.)
12. Roman Bridger. (I hate him. Straight up, he fucking sucks, what an over confident asshole for thinking he could do this all solo. He deserved worse than what he got!)

Hi CJ, how would you rank the Ghostfaces?
Hey, Anon.
My ranking varies day to day so I’ll just tell you what it happens to be atm.
1: Mickey Altieri. Are you surprised? No, probably not. He’s been my number one ever since I can remember. He’s strong, brutal fast and GOD, he’s so fucking fine my heart cannot take it. Plus, he’s the first Ghostface to have an unmasking reveal and a bitch LOVES the unmasking reveals. He’s my baby girl and I love him forever. Also, I’m in love with Timothy Olyphant.
2: Stu Macher. He’s also my baby girl. I just love him so much he’s so funny and cute and brutal. Invented the iconic knife swipe GOD. I just adore every single thing about him.
3: Billy Loomis. Babe. Babe, babe, BABE. He’s so pretty I want to burst into flames. Complex baby girl fr my heart goes out to him. Again, brutal! “We all go a little mad sometimes.” RAIL. ME.
4: Amber Freeman. Best female Ghostface hands down. Her kills style is so chaotic and messy I LOVE it. She killed Dewey which aches my fragile little heart but you gotta give her props for doing it. She’s so hot. SO. HOT. She’s also literally insane and I like em crazy.
5: Ethan Landry. Although he doesn’t have a “hIgH KiLl cOuNt” I couldn’t give a flying cunt on a donut. He’s baby. His Anika kill was absolutely insane and his whole attitude in Act 3 was so fucking enjoyable. Just running around having a grand old time. Mood.
6: Charlie Walker. I’ve been experiencing some insane Charlie brain rot lately so he’s sky rocketed on my list, he may go higher who knows. Most brutal kill in the franchise, the phone call with Sidney, “I’m going to slit your eyelids in half so you don’t blink when I stab you in the face.” OKAY!!!! he’s fucking adorable I want to sit on his fucking face.
7: Quinn Bailey. She’s fast. Fuck she’s fast. She’s hot. Fuck she’s hot. She had so many feelings I honestly felt for her. Gale’s attack scene was so fucking cool. Her fake out death had me tbh. I love her, just not as much as others. Also, “Heyyyy roomies.” She can HIT.
8: Richie Kirsch. I don’t like him, I don’t hate him. He’s just pretty meh to me. His kills are cool I guess? I like that he goes for the throat. Jack Quaid’s acting was fucking phenomenal. He was funny and I really would’ve preferred him as a final boy.
9: Jason Carvey. Wasted. Potential. His Laura kill was so fucking brutal oh my GOD. I would have loved to see him more as a Ghostface because he would’ve been so cool.
Now to those I hate. Fuckers.
10: Nancy Loomis. Ugh. Nancy. Nancy, Nancy, Nancy. Fuck off. Bitch. You think you can kill my guy Randy? Fuck you. You think you can hire my baby girl Mickey and just betray him like that? Fuck you, you didn’t even succeed in killing him. Fuck off with your one kill. I like her motive though although like… Why did you just leave Billy? Make it make sense.
11: Wayne Bailey. God. I actually used to like him a lot but after rewatching I was like ew. No. NO. I get Sam killed your precious baby boy but like… You have two other children and you had to ruin their lives because of your sons obsession with Stab? Fuck you. His kills were amazing though I have to hand it to him. The bodega scene is top tier.
12: Roman Bridger. Okay. I adore Scott Foley. I cannot stand Roman. Imagine getting a whole teenager to kill your fucking mom because you’re too much of a little bitch to do it yourself. Grow up. Also, he’s so fucking whiny like oh my GOD just shut the fuck up, nobody cares what you have to say. His whole character and backstory was just horrible in my opinion.
13: Jill Roberts. Not a surprise to anyone. I hate her. I hate her and her boring ass character. Her two kills were boring and shitty and also I despise Emma Roberts. I will say nothing more about it.

i think the copycat billy hates the most is richie. wayne is a close second because he doesn't even like horror, stab, or ghostface. but, he has to give his ass credit for the bodega kill, his first kill scene, and killing sam's therapist. collecting and stealing evidence is WILD so billy gives him points for that. what he loses points for is getting revenge for his failure flop loser son and manipulating his other two children to help him. billy would never do that to sam and tara. mickey is his favorite of the copycats along with amber and charlie.

Scream Series: A 2023 Ranking
Tumblr media
The Halloween season is again upon us, it seemed like as good a time as any to revisit and update a post of mine from nearly two years ago about my favorite horror film series now six films in. What has always appealed to me is the underlying mystery in each film. Who will don the Ghostface persona this time? Who will live to see another sunrise? Who will die at the killer’s hand? Add to this the fact the murderer is always human, never supernatural, and you have the ingredients for an intriguing story. It could happen to you.
6.  Scream 4 (2011)
Woodsboro, California is once again haunted by a killer donning the Ghostface costume fifteen years after the original massacre. Can the Woodsboro survivors stop the killings in time, or will the culprit be successful in completing his or her morbid plan? I loved the commentary on celebrity and social media. The kills were also among the most gruesome in the entire series and very creative. That said, the so-called rules presented by wannabe Randys were the least believable, and (I’m not sure if this age catching up with me) the teenagers were very self-absorbed, and hard to like. Only Kirby and maybe Trevor and Robbie were in anyway likable. The motivation was horribly shallow and a pale imitation of the original. I loved the ending death an ironic nature of the news broadcasts. Ultimately, I do not hate this film. I like all of them in series, but this appeals to me the least and one film had to come in last.
5.  Scream 5 aka Scream (2022)
Twenty-six years have passed from the first attacks in Woodsboro, and someone is attacking relatives of the original group.  What sort of game does the Ghostface killer have in mind this time?  What secret could have could have caused Sam Carpenter to leave Woodsboro all those years ago?  Will the survivors of the previous attacks escape again?  It can be fun to revisit the origins of franchise and this one does not disappoint.  The rules are fit the Scream universe in general, and the new characters are all great. The motivation is an excellent commentary on toxic fandoms.  I adore the return of “Red Right Hand” by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and the clever tribute to the late Wes Craven.  Overall, this film is at a solid fifth place.
4.  Scream 2 (1997)
Another string of murders involving Ghostface occur in and around Windsor College in Ohio one year after Woodsboro. A copycat killer is on the loose who will not rest until the survivors of the Woodsboro Massacre are dead and plans on taking out others along the way starting with a young couple at an early screening of Stab. The deaths were more gruesome, and, like many fans, I was upset by one that I will not mention so as not to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it. This film is a solid sequel, the rules masterful, and the mastermind behind it all one of the best in the series. I rank this fourth in my favorites not because of its quality, but due to my other preferences.
3.  Scream 3 (2000)
Three years after the events at Windsor, someone is killing the cast of Stab 3 in and around Hollywood, California dressed as Ghostface and leaving pictures of Maureen Prescott with handwritten notes on the back. Someone doesn’t want secrets of the past to remain buried and is willing to kill in order to draw out the Woodsboro survivors. Many have considered this the worst in the series, and I can understand why. The characters don’t have as much depth (with the exception of Jennifer), the story less plausible, and the kills the least gruesome (partially from the aftermath of the Columbine Massacre). That said, I usually consider this now my third favorite in the series. The rules are solid, I love the callbacks to the first film, and the culprit is my favorite out of the lineup (though the execution could have been better). It feels like the concluding chapter of a trilogy, and I have more fun watching it than most of the others.
2.  Scream VI (2023)
It’s lead up to Halloween, one year later, in New York City; what better way to stalk your victims than to hide in plane sight among the revelers?  Only this time, some seems to be counting down leaving behind masks from the previous attacks.  What will happen when once the clock strikes one?  Why are the past attacks so significant?  Can the survivors safely navigate The City That Never Sleeps without also being cut down themselves?  While I understand the frustration many had with the absence of an important member of the cast, I can say the absence of that person did not pull the film down.  The cast is excellent, the Rules of a Franchise amusing, and the various twists shocking.  This one had all the fun nostalgia of the third film with none of its drawbacks and mixes it with the most appropriate of holidays.  All of it was enough to land a second-place finish.
1.  Scream (1996)
A year after the rape and murder of Maureen Prescott, the town of Woodsboro, California is plagued by a string of murders committed by a villain wearing a Halloween costume, wielding a knife, and taunting victims through various phone calls. Someone has watched too many horror films and is taking things way too seriously. Can Sidney Prescott and her friends survive? As with any horror franchise, it is always difficult to outdo the original. I adore this cast of characters, the Rules of Surviving a Horror Movies, and the shocking ending with believable motives. It has yet to be supplanted as my favorite in the series.

being so fr would anyone be mad/gaf if i ever did a gf ranking based on like actual ability and what stats of theirs we do have as opposed to just based 100% off my own opinion and nothing else. but excluded one ghostface in particular. because being so fr i wanna do that but i hate the guy so much that i cannot find it in my heart to like. be objective abt it and rank him decently. and unfortunately ik if im going based off mostly the facts that i would have to. and that’s the ONE thing keeping me from doing so 😭

people disrespecting roman as a ghostface will never fail to amaze me. someone just called him the worst GF and picked nancy loomis as the best and their argument was that she was the first female GF..? like what kind of reason is that😭 i think a lot of people don’t understand that there is a difference between your favourite and the best. stu will always be my fav character and in my top 3 fav ghostfaces but i can admit that he’s far from the best. it will always be roman, doesn’t matter if he’s your fav or not or if you love or hate scream 3.

a nea gets unhooked. she follows the david I am chasing. and instead of running past him with her endurance & speed bonus, as he clearly thought she would, she stops to tap the regressing generator mid chase.
now what killer, in their right mind, would go "hm. this injured survivor who's just willingly forfeited their endurance right in front of me to stop a regressing generator should be left alone. I should not tunnel her, even though she had every opportunity to get away?"
not to mention I was hux on midwich. perhaps one of his worst maps. and I had forced hesitation (one of hux's own perks), which gave me greater incentive to down her so I could catch david more easily. upon being downed, she of course DC'd.
so not only did her carelessness get david downed, she left her team with a freaking bot.
just nea things ~

my ghostface tier ranking
IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED THE MOVIES AND PLAN TO, SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
billy: no justification. billy on top.
jill: again, lit perfection. she literally was an inch away from getting away with it and i NEVER suspected her
roman: could be considered as the smartest ghostface bc he was the only one who pulled it off by himself?? also i loved the plot of the third film so
richie: I WAS BACKING HIM UP THE WHOLE WAY. I WAS SO MAD WHENEVER ANYONE ACCUSED HIM ONLY FOR HIM TO ACTLY BE GHOSTFACE, BUT GOTTA LOVE HIM FOR THAT
stu: he's great and i love him, but he's just not... up there ygm
mickey: haters gonna say he's too high up but again i never even suspected him and i feel like he needed more time on screen. and he was funny so
ethan: NEVER suspected him, like i lowkey thought he had a crush on sam (maybe he did, the world may never know) and he was smart and yeah
amber: I LOVED HER GHOSTFACE, but ngl she made a lot of slip ups which definitely coulda given her away so in terms of best/most successful ghostfaces she's definitely not at the top
quinn: she was also very smart and i didnt rlly suspect her but idk i feel like... just no
wayne: he was smart but i lowkey was suspicious of him and i never rlly liked him as a character so... talk abt middle aged man with issues
charlie: needed more screen time for me to actly like him, but i gotta respect him for that moved he pulled with jill
nancy: nah she was lowkey so irrelevant through the whole thing and lit had 0 screen time, but she was kinda smart for using mickey like that and him not realising but im sorry if anyone put her anywhere but at the bottom theyre wrong

Ghostface
Voiced by: Roger L. Jackson Villainy level: 7.5 Appears in: the Scream franchise
Ghostface could be anyone. It's a great concept for a horror movie franchise and never failed to entertain, but I like to see Ghostface as a single malevolent being. The way he toys with people before he murders them is terrifying. The very first phone call scene still haunts me. I can't really elaborate on Ghostface personality, but all that matters is that he causes fear. Which is enough for a franchise like this.
