In celebration of Veronica Mars’ 20th Anniversary, @vmficclub is bringing back the popular WIP It Good event

The goal is to celebrate and encourage participation in the VM Platinum Anniversary Fic Challenge, whether that is in starting a brand new story or searching through dusty folders to find a unpublished works in progress.

Wednesday August 28th through Wednesday September 11th @vmficclub is encouraging anyone who writes a story, or updates one of their WIPs to post in the The Veronica Mars 20th Anniversary Celebration collection on AO3 by September 15th. After the release of the stories on September 22nd, post a link to your story on @vmficclub's Discord and a new piece of artwork will be created for your story.

Readers can participate by playing VM Comment bingo or just leaving kudos/comments on existing WIPS to let writers know that you enjoyed their work.

“He thinks the old Samuels place is haunted,” George deadpanned. Nancy held back a laugh at her friend’s expression. After all of the ghosts, demons, and other spirits George had helped Nancy vanquish over the years, she had started believing in the supernatural, but just barely. “I told him you’d meet him at the Claw for lunch at noon.” Nancy checked her watch. “If I’m going to make it, I need to leave in five minutes,” she realized, setting down her coffee and shuffling through the mess of papers on her desk to find her car keys. She double checked that she had a notepad and pen in her messenger bag as she grabbed it off her chair, but George reached for her arm before she could pull it over her head. “You’re not going to meet him dressed like that, are you?” she asked, smirking at Nancy’s bright yellow pajamas. By the time she had changed and driven to The Claw, she was almost ten minutes late for her impromptu new client meeting. She walked briskly into the front entrance, turning immediately to the booth where she always sat. Her first thought was that George had been right: she did recognize Ace. He had been at the firm’s Christmas party a few months earlier with the other major clients. He had had a local heiress on his arm at the time – a Marvin, Nancy thought – although they definitely hadn’t been dating. Her second thought was that Ace was hot.

Contrary to popular opinion, Lucy realises she’s in love with both boys on the same day.

She feels the tug in her gut, a pleasant twist as Lockwood bandages her sliced arm, cradling her hand with delicate fingers as he murmurs soft apologies.

Then she feels it again, less than an hour later, when George triumphantly takes Bobby Vernon – and by extension, the rest of Kipps’ team – down several pegs.

Oh, she thinks, looking from Lockwood’s wolfish grin to George’s proud beam. Oh dear.

Unfortunately, after that night some things get in the way of her working through this revelation including, but not limited to: Lockwood’s ego, Pamela Joplin, the bone glass, the Winkmans, a bullet wound and George’s tenuous grasp on reality.

It’s been a bit of a week, actually, for all of them.
