I have not been super online these past few weeks, it's because I'm finally watching the new Twin Peaks season literally seven years after it came out and I know that I say this a lot about the things I watch, but this one is truly truly truly making crazy in the best way, Twin Peaks series of all time, David Lynch the man that you are ... I'm not even halfway through and I already know that I won't be recovering from this one lads ...

anyways, the thing about the lynch brothers is this: declan is a blue eyed boy that is spiritually a brown eyed boy, while ronan is a blue eyed boy that is spiritually a boy with heterochromia and matthew is a blue eyed boy that is spiritually a green eyed boy. hope this helps!

he loves his younger brothers so deeply he can't function without them. his entire sense of self is predicated on service to his family. he is everyone's least favorite family member. he hates his brothers. he needs to be needed by them because he's never felt wanted. he has the shape of Matthew's forehead and the texture of his curls memorized. goodbye to whatever Declan Lynch would have grown up to be. his mother isn't real and maybe that's why he doesn't love her like he should. keeps an attic full of paintings that make him feel things tucked out of sight where no one can ever see him do it. he drives a 4 hour round trip every sunday to worship a god he no longer believes in because it's the only time Ronan concedes to spend with him. he dates three girls all with the same name and knocks his mother's wedding ring down the garbage disposal. he is a perpetual motion machine, never alone but always lonely. coffee and antacids and sleeping pills so he won't dream. he misses his father so much it hurts. he curses his father's name with every breath. trained so thoroughly to lie that telling even innocuous truths feels like giving something away. "fuck, do not fall in love with this girl." he's his father's only natural-born child. his father doesn't remember his birth. he was the first to love Ronan and so Ronan lived. off the rack suits and italian leather shoes. he wakes up every day wishing he didn't have to. goes to work, goes to school, takes Matthew to organ practice. his mother isn't his mother but his mother left him behind so maybe that's for the best. he gets beaten bloody by the hitman that killed their father and neither of his brothers pick up the phone when he calls to make sure they're alive. he still drives 4 hours to share a pew with them.

Ok but - I came to the Dreamer trilogy for Ronan because he was my fave in TRC but I definitely fell for all three Lynch brothers, Hennessy & Jordan, and maybe even Carmen and Liliana during the course of these three books. Maggie Stiefvater, the writer that you are!
None of the characters is wholly good and/or easy; one might think Matthew is because he is always good-humoured and happy but then he is faced with an identity crisis and a rebellious phase and grows so much through it! And Adam seems to be perfect at first, having made it to Harvard and all, but he struggles and he hides himself, and only person he’s truly open with, and then he is more open and honest with himself at the end, after going through the potential loss of that person, and realising there is more to him than just being this ideal student who’s made it.
And we’ve probably all started out hating Declan a little after the events of TRC but with every page, he gets more nuanced, we learn about his past, his parents (and how he’s their only ‘real’ son, whatever that means), and he becomes someone you don’t only feel for but begin to understand and wish a happy future. - which he finds, unexpectedly, in a dream. Jordan starts off as one of many copies and struggles to find her way to her own life, always craving it, always asking herself why she’s got only half the memories she should, and how she could lead a ‘normal’ life, could she commit?
Hennessy seems almost unlikable at the start but then she does grow on you - because of how she cares for her girls, her unlikely friendship with Ronan, what we learn about her past and her upbringing. But she also disappoints us with betrayal and looking only after herself - she’s complicated! - and then she does save the day aka Adam and you notice how integral she’s become.
And Ronan. The words used to describe him at the start of Call Down the Hawk make him seem almost cruel, not at all like what you’d expect your protagonist to be like. But we follow him as he struggles and grows and challenges himself - from trying to fit in, to creating a mentor he’s always craved, to scaring away the people he loves most, to realising he’s rooted in both worlds and choosing one, to realising he’s Greywaren, to committing to an eternity with the person he calls his second self. What a journey.
This has been a wild ride. Thank you, Ms Stiefvater.

are you the king, mirror, ghost, magician or dreamer?
(write the letter of the answer you chose on a paper, at the end you will have the result of each letter)
1 - are you a poet, king or soldier?
a) poet
b) soldier
c) king
2 - choose a part of the song meet me in the woods by lord huron.
a) "I took a little journey to the unknown and I've come back changed I can feel it in my bones"
b) "I have seen what the darkness does. say goodbye to who I was"
c) "meet me in the woods tonight"
d) "I fucked with forces that our eyes can't see, now the darkness got a hold on me"
e) "show me yours and I'll show you mine"
3 - choose one of my opinions about trc that MAYBE you don't agree.
a) the dreamer trilogy has a slightly more interesting story.
b) the raven king ending sucks. like what is that DEMON?
c) adam and ronan were a little quick (but they're perfect anyway, maybe because it was so sudden, i wasn't expecting ronan lynch's secret)
d) declan was right most of the time, he just wanted to take care of what was left of the family.
e) noah deserved at least a decent goodbye.
4 - pick a random thing that was mentioned in the books
a) the pig
b) squash 1, squash 2, squash 3...
c) adam parrish's worn clothes.
d) lampshade dress (or ronan's lack of interest.
e) blue's pink pocket knife.
5 - you woke up at 03:49 am and you feel happy but you don't remember what you dreamed about. later, as the day goes by, you reflect. what did you dream about?
a) I don't remember exactly, just one person in front of me, they says my name and then they hugs me and I feel loved and then aliens take us to a distant planet and I turn out to be that person is a little girl who stole a lego of mine when i was a kid and we started battling for the hand of the cockroach queen.
b) I woke up happy that I finally got some sleep, but dreaming? it's something I'm still trying to remember how to do.
c) I can't remember what I dreamed about.
d) me in front of a mirror and in that mirror I saw myself as a kid. they told me in a calm voice "you can grow up now"
e) a house with all the ghosts that haunt me, they say they can move on now. I'm alone in the house, there's nothing left, but that emptiness doesn't bother me. I like the silence after so much noise.
6 - choose a quote from the books
a) "he threw me out the window"
b) "excelsior"
c) "maybe i dreamt you"
d) "safe as life"
e) "i am being perfectly fucking civil"
7 - ok, without judging the inside of the books, just choose by the cover.
a) the dream thieves
b) the raven king
c) the raven boys
d) blue lily, lily blue
e) call down the hawk / mister impossible /greywaren
8 - which of Ronan's dreams do you most identify with?
a) adam's perfect teeth (i know, i know)
b) matthew, the golden boy who just wants to be a normal boy
c) the other ronan who was born to die
d) forests and more forests
e) a hoverboard that will save everyone in the end
9 - if gansey is the king, blue is the mirror, ronan is the dreamer, noah is the ghost and adam is the magician so henry is...?
a) the one that's left (maybe you didn't care enough to give him a meaning)
b) madonna's number one fan
c) the bee
d) the son
e) the master
10 - if someone came and told you that you were going to die in a year, how would you react?
a) "no shit, sherlock! now say something new"
b) I would accept my fate and live normally. "After all, we're all going to die, I'm just going to die sooner"
c) I would do what I was always afraid to do.
d) "I've been dead for seven years"
e) I would do anything to change my destiny.
...
if you chose king add a point for ronan. if you chose poet add a point for noah and gansey. and if you chose soldier add a point for adam and blue.
now just add which letter you got the most and tell me in the comments the result :)
a = ronan
b = noah
c = gansey
d = adam
e = blue
I hope that you enjoyed and sorry for any mistakes, I'm learning english :)
I was thinking of doing a "which brother lynch are you" and one about the marauders, what do you think?

Sibling Showdown!!!
Tumblr media
This showdown consists of 64 sibling sets facing off against each other, as well as a few one-off polls of sets who didn’t make the actual bracket but who I wanted to include in some capacity.  Polls will last a week.  Round One of section A will go live on April 16, with section B going live the day after, section C the day after that, and section D the day after that.
Propaganda is allowed!  I just ask that it be kept positive.  Argue for your faves instead of against someone else’s.  Every sibling set who made it in the showdown is there because someone wanted them to be, so keep it kind.
Will the winners be the siblings that love each other the most?  That are most capable of killing other sibling groups with their bare hands?  That have the most sibling swag?  It’s up to you to decide!  You get to choose the manner and parameters you judge each sibling set for.

Frank Sinatra's self-inflicted tough-guy-party-animal-Rat-Packer image was not only childish and tiresome, it belied the fact that he was well-read, thoughtful, and a committed free thinker. In this 1963 interview with Playboy magazine, Sinatra speaks frankly (sorry) about the hypocrisy and dangers of "the witch doctor in the middle"--his term for organized religion.
Playboy: All right, let's start with the most basic question there is: Are you a religious man? Do you believe in God?
Sinatra: Well, that'll do for openers. I think I can sum up my religious feelings in a couple of paragraphs. First: I believe in you and me. I'm like Albert Schweitzer and Bertrand Russell and Albert Einstein in that I have a respect for life — in any form. I believe in nature, in the birds, the sea, the sky, in everything I can see or that there is real evidence for. If these things are what you mean by God, then I believe in God. But I don't believe in a personal God to whom I look for comfort or for a natural on the next roll of the dice. I'm not unmindful of man's seeming need for faith; I'm for anything that gets you through the night, be it prayer, tranquilizers or a bottle of Jack Daniel's. But to me religion is a deeply personal thing in which man and God go it alone together, without the witch doctor in the middle. The witch doctor tries to convince us that we have to ask God for help, to spell out to him what we need, even to bribe him with prayer or cash on the line. Well, I believe that God knows what each of us wants and needs. It's not necessary for us to make it to church on Sunday to reach Him. You can find Him anyplace. And if that sounds heretical, my source is pretty good: Matthew, Five to Seven, The Sermon on the Mount.
Playboy: You haven't found any answers for yourself in organized religion?
Sinatra: There are things about organized religion which I resent. Christ is revered as the Prince of Peace, but more blood has been shed in His name than any other figure in history. You show me one step forward in the name of religion and I'll show you a hundred retrogressions. Remember, they were men of God who destroyed the educational treasures at Alexandria, who perpetrated the Inquisition in Spain, who burned the witches at Salem. Over 25,000 organized religions flourish on this planet, but the followers of each think all the others are miserably misguided and probably evil as well. In India they worship white cows, monkeys and a dip in the Ganges. The Moslems accept slavery and prepare for Allah, who promises wine and revirginated women. And witch doctors aren't just in Africa. If you look in the L.A. papers of a Sunday morning, you'll see the local variety advertising their wares like suits with two pairs of pants.
Playboy: Hasn't religious faith just as often served as a civilizing influence?
Sinatra: Remember that leering, cursing lynch mob in Little Rock reviling a meek, innocent little 12-year-old Negro girl as she tried to enroll in public school? Weren't they — or most of them — devout churchgoers? I detest the two-faced who pretend liberality but are practiced bigots in their own mean little spheres. I didn't tell my daughter whom to marry, but I'd have broken her back if she had had big eyes for a bigot. As I see it, man is a product of his conditioning, and the social forces which mold his morality and conduct — including racial prejudice — are influenced more by material things like food and economic necessities than by the fear and awe and bigotry generated by the high priests of commercialized superstition. Now don't get me wrong. I'm for decency — period. I'm for anything and everything that bodes love and consideration for my fellow man. But when lip service to some mysterious deity permits bestiality on Wednesday and absolution on Sunday — cash me out.
Playboy: But aren't such spiritual hypocrites in a minority? Aren't most Americans fairly consistent in their conduct within the precepts of religious doctrine?
Sinatra: I've got no quarrel with men of decency at any level. But I can't believe that decency stems only from religion. And I can't help wondering how many public figures make avowals of religious faith to maintain an aura of respectability. Our civilization, such as it is, was shaped by religion, and the men who aspire to public office anyplace in the free world must make obeisance to God or risk immediate opprobrium. Our press accurately reflects the religious nature of our society, but you'll notice that it also carries the articles and advertisements of astrology and hokey Elmer Gantry revivalists. We in America pride ourselves on freedom of the press, but every day I see, and so do you, this kind of dishonesty and distortion not only in this area but in reporting — about guys like me, for instance, which is of minor importance except to me; but also in reporting world news. How can a free people make decisions without facts? If the press reports world news as they report about me, we're in trouble.
Playboy: Are you saying that . . .
Sinatra: No, wait, let me finish. Have you thought of the chance I'm taking by speaking out this way? Can you imagine the deluge of crank letters, curses, threats and obscenities I'll receive after these remarks gain general circulation? Worse, the boycott of my records, my films, maybe a picket line at my opening at the Sands. Why? Because I've dared to say that love and decency are not necessarily concomitants of religious fervor.
Playboy: If you think you're stepping over the line, offending your public or perhaps risking economic suicide, shall we cut this off now, erase the tape and start over along more antiseptic lines?
Sinatra: No, let's let it run. I've thought this way for years, ached to say these things. Whom have I harmed by what I've said? What moral defection have I suggested? No, I don't want to chicken out now. Come on, pal, the clock's running

I blame (thank) @lizpaige for enabling me
Here's some thoughts on Single Irish Dad Ronan AU
Ronan is a single dad living in Ireland on a farm in the country.
He has two daughters Aoife (10) and Siobhan (7). The girls are bio siblings and they were adopted together.
Aurora and Niall are still around and live a few miles from Ronan.
Matthew is at university.
Declan and Jordan and their kiddos live in the city.
Ronan married his high school sweetheart, Aidan, and they adopted the girls not too long after.
Aidan dies in a tragic car accident, leaving Ronan alone to raise a 5 and a 2 year old (at the time).
Ronan hasn't dated in five years. He's pretty stubborn, taking care of his girls and the farm and getting by in the best way he can
Enter Adam Parrish, American tourist who gets his ass lost in the middle of the Irish countryside during a rain storm. His car gets stuck and he walks, in the deluge, to Ronan's farm, which is the only light source for miles.
Adam shows up, a la Jane Bennett in Pride & Prejudice, asking for help. He comes down with a nasty cold from a combination of international travel, poor sleep, and getting caught in the rain.
The Lynch household is fascinatingly chaotic. The girls are intrigued by Adam and Adam feels bad for imposing. He wonders where Ronan's partner is (Ronan still wears his wedding ring).
Adam and Ronan get to know one another and there's a mutual crush between them. But Adam thinks Ronan is still married and Ronan isn't sure he wants to date someone who is from another country across the Atlantic.
Adam finds a prayer card for Aidan and asks Ronan about him. They've both been single for a long time, for different reasons. They're both aware they have feelings for each other.
Aoife and Siobhan and the extended Lynch family all encourage Ronan to take Adam around Ireland. So Ronan does. It's hard not to fall in love with someone that way. Just the two of them, driving all around the country.
Ronan isn't sure what to do, with Adam having to go back to the states. He doesn't want long distance, especially with the girls, and Adam doesn't either. Ronan thinks they're just going to break things off and it was fun while it lasted, but Adam has other plans.
Unsure if Adam was already going to move to Ireland or if he does some finagling. He gets his own place, so he and Ronan can date, and not rush into anything.
It's a HEA (because of course it is).
