Hi! I don’t know if you take asks but just in case.
I’m curious about your view on gentleman jack s02, and why you find it wasn’t as good as s01, and why you find it inconsistent : is it in comparison to what AL wrote in her diaries or just a general vibe of watching the show? Also, what do you find is inconsistent?
I hope you don’t find my question to be annoying, I’m curious because I don’t necessarily watch TV shows and analyse them, especially queer content (I’m just happy it exists).
Thanks!
Hi! I’m the anon who asked why you thought the 2nd season was inconsistent; saw your lasted reblog. Thanks for the beginning of that answer and take your time for the rest! If anything it’s making me more interested in your point of view, so thank you for taking the time to answer me. Cheers!
Hi
I apologize for taking a while before answering you, because I too anon don't do TV show analysis anymore, whatever I feel, I usually tag rant about it and reblog stuff from people who are better equipped and far more eloquent at breaking down and analysing scenes and episodes. I will have a go at it I guess since you asked and I do want to actually try and figure out what exactly kept bothering me through out this season.(it’s long and rambly so rest is under the cut)
I will not go episode by episode cause I am not up for a rewatch of s2. I did rewatch s1 but not recently so it's not exactly fresh in my mind but I do feel I have a good grasp on it because I did watch it several times after it aired, I was absolutely enthralled with Season 1. I feel It was beautifully written and masterfully executed and that's why I got instantly attached to the show and the characters. So whatever I speak off in this reply please understand I do have my biases and I am not doing an objective analysis . I am just giving my opinion.
Season 2 was very different from Season 1 and not in a good way tbh, at least for me. Personally I felt the pacing of this season to be very jarring. And that's a general vibe and not because of the diaries, because to be honest I have not deleved much in the source material myself, I have read the transcribed works in parts and have listened to talks from both the show's creator and crew and people who have done research on AL, but that's like a second hand account therefore obviously those are essentially interpretations and how someone reads it might differ from how I would interpret it if I was directly interacting with the source material.  For me the show is the source material with which I've directly interacted right…so I am solely trying to focus on the show and the storylines that gets explored by it.
So when I speak of inconsistency, it's obviously not just one thing, the inconsistency was there in the way the show was scripted for this season, the way it was directed , the editing, all of it just felt off. I have read some analysis from iredreamer and natglee and they both nailed it and I've reblogged those posts they are under my gj meta tag if you want to give those a read.
But borrowing their sentiments let's talk about the storylines first- I too didn't like the dry, clinical approach that they took this season. We see the characters talking about things but they don't really take any actions to resolve that. It's like a pressure cooker situation you know. There's build up with no pay off. Also because they don't expand on certain aspects ,be it the social hierarchy or the political opinions or the personal worldviews of the characters, most of the time you draw only negative inference.
I am going to use a food analogy cause that's what came to mind while I tried analysing it. So you have all these ingredients, now it needs to be properly measured and added together in a cohesive manner, marinated and rested before you can cook so as to have tasty food otherwise it will taste bland. This happened with the show, a multitude of things were brought up, be it the individual character insecurities, the social constraints, the obvious homophobia and the ostracization that follows, the class discrimination, add to that the central relationship between Anne and Ann also was fraught with so many issues that of financial and familial legacy, desire for children and needing it to solidfy a marriage(contextually), Anne's fear of the relationship falling apart in absence of it, Anne's infidelity, Ann's constant struggle with depression and anxiety compounded by internalized homophobia, and general sense of feeling powerless in face of a overbearing family.
So many threads and none got the breathing space or the nuanced exploration that they deserved. And it's baffling to me cause season 1 explored heavy topics and did it so well, it never felt like a cliff's note version, we were allowed to experience and empathize with the characters. That's what made them believeable and relatable despite it being a period drama(and in my case even geographically it's removed from my experience and yet it was relatable!)
Also the amount of dropped plotliness makes you feel like wtf was the point of wasting time on them if nothing was to come out of it?the Sowden storyline(well no complaints there but still!), The kids accidentally witnessing the Ann(e)s being intimate, The Priestley's appearance….that one random dude threatening Anne Lister during the townhall!!!?! Umm what is happening here!
Also storywise there was a lot of rehash of the same topics that we already saw them discuss in season 1 . One might say, well it's because of the influence of the diaries, but at the end of the day this is still a TV show and the narrative needs to move forward, going round and round doesn't really help in engaging me as the audience.
Also the chronology was confusing! I noticed it mostly in episode 6 where Ann speaks of not wanting to go back to that shop where she felt humiliated, but that incident happened actually in episode 7 instead. And even in episode 8 the entire emotinal back and forth between them felt weirdly off!
SJ said in an interview, I am paraphrasing here,- this season is about seeing Anne learning to love in a different way and we will fall in love with Ann Walker as she does too-(I am in love with Ann Walker from day 1 so let's put that aside) but for the characters did it really happen that way?I don't even know. It all was left quite ambiguous …atleast that's what it seemed to me(even tho I don't know why we need to explore the did she love her or not aspect cause season 1 already happened…she can have doubts about it, but from the get go going on and on about whether she is just fond of her or whether she is actually in love…my gods what is going on here?!)
I mean all through this season in almost all of their intimate scenes(barring a couple) the conversation was so weird, was it a way to show how incompatible they are or something?! what is happening?
I mean it started off well, the first fight they had in s2 and the following conversation felt genuine and touching to me and you see that they are communicating and trying to be open about their issues and not bottling it up but it stopped happening as we moved forward into the season. I don't know what was the catalyst for that…maybe it deteriorated after Anne's infidelity? I can't quite remember but yeah even if that's the case what I am trying to say is that in the finale it all doesn't come to head and yet they somehow reconciled…like they are telling me that they understand and accept each other with big fancy dialogues, but there's not much happening onscreen to support that resolution. Cause firstly it took almost 8 episodes for Ann Walker to finally confront Anne Lister and that too she deflected! And now suddenly Ann is back to being ok with it all?! what is HAPPENING?
Another thing that confused and irked me, the conversation of not having a child and Anne's declaration of them and their relationship mattering irrespective of that and it shouldn't have to hinge upon a piece of paper or a having a child to make it legitimate and yet in the finale apparently she has definitely changed her mind about it all so much so that she says as such to Vere, who is (much like me) so taken aback by what Anne's saying that it’s mindboggling! again WHAT IS HAPPENING?!
I seriously failed to grasp the motivations behind the characters and their actions in these regards. where is the exploration to show me how the characters are dealing with difficult situations and coming to their inferences whatever it might be, it’s not that the actors are not capable of pulling off those performances or that writing cannot accomodate for that, cause they did it fine in S1... instead of just telling me! Isn't that suppose to be the advantage of the visual medium?!
I know the storybeats already and if I want to know more I can read up on the transcribed works if need be. What I wanted from the show was an exploration of those issues, of how they dealt with it, how it impacted them! Am I asking for too much? I don't think so!
The direction and editing too was off putting to me. We lost the intimate gaze, before the camera never felt like an intrusion, rather it felt like Anne's way of communicating and sharing her experiences, we were a part of the journey, not just mere observers. But now it feels voyeuristic again(like in most other shows). it's so harsh and removed and frankly sterile. Not something I would’ve expected coming right from season 1 and I don't believe in that class of thought where hard hitting reality needs to be depicted through these kind of detached direction/editing . Then they would not have managed to tackle issues of blatant homophobia, sexual abuse, physical assaults, mental illness etc. in season 1. But they did and it never felt like exploitation for the sake of drama.
At this point I am just disappointed, the more I try to analyse it, the more visible are the discrepancies and shortcomings in this season. It's very hard for me to criticize this show because it brought a lot of value to me, both personally and creatively.
I understand the difficult situations in which this season was made. I am in no way trying to demean people's hardwork. I myself work in the entertainment industry and when people criticizes the amount of hard work one puts into making a project like this it feels disheartening but at the same time we do read up on reviews and criticisms so that we can follow through and deliver quality content to the people. And I am not saying Season 2 was bad TV or anything, it was just not upto my expectations and if they get renewed I would hope that the coming seasons would fare better with their exploration and execution(fingers crossed).
Sorry if it’s confusing as I did went off on tangents and basically it’s a rant, so it might still lack clarity, anon. But maybe I am able to atleast address some of it and I hope you get some understanding as to where I am coming from, thanks for being so patient with me.

Just wanted to say that I’m not very good at characterization so thank you very much for doing it for me ;-; I feel like I truly understand akechi now (which is weird since I’ve been a fan since vanilla but whatever)
Can you tell I just read the mamas boy post lol
Also thank you for the translation stuff, that’s super cool and is also teaching me stuff about the characters!
Baby Akechi absolutely breaks my heart. There is no way to read him that isn't a trauma conga line. He's not even like Light Yagami, who had every opportunity thrown at him and got pulled down into murder by the wound to his own perfect self-image. I will absolutely die on the hill that Akechi, for all P5's flaws lol, is a more well-rounded and realistic and relatable and a more interesting character than Light, so gj Atlus for that.
Thank you for your kind words! There are lots and lots of other great P5 meta bloggers out there, mind—it's just that I, like you (see? ADHD right here, that is not what you said at all), am Late To The Fandom, as 'twas ever thus, so you have to google a bit to find them. It's always worth googling meta questions—they tend to bring you back to Tumblr, to old meta posts and blogs that are incredibly worth reading.

bsd characters and League of Legends Roles
How did I come up with this? I don't know. But it's been stuck in my head for a week now so it's getting evicted from my head to your fyp.
you're welcome. probably.
Armed Detective Agency
Atsushi Nakajima
def mains jungle. Specifically, Rengar.
just look at the man.
epitome of a rengar player.
he's def very imbalanced in his gameplay though.
he either goes 0/12 or 12/0. no inbetween.
but he's EXTREMELY talkative.
in all chat, team chat, it doesn't really matter, he's got something to say after every play. and its usually something nice.
"gj!", "nice", "(actually helpful criticism)" and always a "gg" at the end of the match.
does kinda get upset when teamed w/ people that don't know what theyre doing, esp in higher elo.
i also don't think he plays too much though, he's got better things to do with his time.
mid gold?
Osamu Dazai
either plays top or jungle.
plays top for the obvious jokes. plays jungle because its the hardest role to play.
I'd think he'd enjoy jungle more because it seems like a slightly more complex chess game to him than, yknow. nerdy league of legends.
He'd be really good at the game too, but i kinda get the feeling he'd throw games if he got matched with people he didn't like.
or people he just knew, in general. Like Kunikida? Dazai's gonna play the game with his actual feet.
because of that behavior, probably somewhere in gold? like he doesn't play very often but when he does he almost always wins when he's semi-serious abt it.
Kunikida Doppo
this guy. has either never heard of it, or was addicted at some point.
either way, he'd play adc. He just kinda seems like he'd play Jhin specifically. The added challenge of keeping track of autos and all the intricacies of the playing style is definitely appealing to him.
lowkey kinda pretenious w/ it? "oh i main Jhin, ik how to do x y z mechanic that no one cares knows about" . . like wtaf, put the wine glass down.
not that great at the game though. Mid silver to low gold.
definitely rages over the game from time to time. Hence why he doesn't play anymore. (i mean, we've all seen his interactions w/ Dazai.)
Ranpo Edogawa
mid lane.
look at this man and tell me he doesn't run a crazy ass mid lane.
I'm not sure what he'd main, but it's always off meta.
dude could run like . . nautilus? god forbid yuumi. and still win.
no counterarguments here, just look at him.
when he first started playing, he played meta but got bored after winning too many games so he switched to the most random picks.
i'd believe it if he chose the random option for champion select.
would play pretty frequently, at least compared to everyone else.
definitely in platinum.
Akiko Yosano
also adc, definitely loves to play Vayne.
anything hyper-carry honestly.
rarely plays though.
the game isn't super interesting to her but Ranpo asked her to play and so she picked it up for a little bit.
when she did play, she played somewhere in silver.
she didn't play enough games to get past silver but probably wouldve.
Kenji Miyazawa
support.
but one of the tanky ones.
occasionally he'll run pyke though? Like if the poor kid had a bad day, he's running pyke.
probably loves Braum.
but also probably hardly plays.
Like Yosano, he doesn't find the game too interesting, he'd rather be outside doing something.
also a silver player.
Junichirou Tanizaki
he's the stereotypical adc.
and i mean that in every. way. possible.
steal a minion? he's going afk.
can't save him from being dived under turret? prepare to get flamed.
he goes 0/6 in the first 15 minutes but somehow it's your fault? you just got doxxed.
his first couple of games are decent, and he's more likely to win those. But once he has a really good game where he carries, he'll get overconfident and never win again until he quits the game for the day.
high bronze, low silver
Kyouka Izumi
hear me out.
top lane.
specifically? Nasus.
hear me out again.
She just likes any character that scales really well tbh.
plays the slow game and wins every time.
doesn't like the game though, so she rarely plays it.
high silver.
-------------------------------
this draft has been sitting in drafts for so long, im worried i've mischaracterized these guys lmao. but it was too funny and it made me giggle when i was looking through all my old work so i figured might as well post.
anyways, thank you for reading! Please take care of yourselves, and though I don't know anyone who's gonna read this, I hope you all have a great day/morning/evening/night <3

Structured educational and training programs addressing children with ADHD should be implemented to enhance teachers’ knowledge about ADHD and to improve their role in helping the affected children and their families.Īmerican Psychiatric Association (2013) Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, 5th edn. The pronounced lack of research on teacher management of ADHD in children in Jordan may have contributed to these findings.
#Attention attention jordan 1 professional#
The lack of professional pre-service training and education about children’s behavioral problems overall, but especially regarding ADHD knowledge and management of children with ADHD was found to be deficient among our sample of elementary schoolteachers. The results indicate that elementary schoolteachers in northern Jordan have negative perceptions regarding ADHD and its causes, treatment, and diagnosis. This study utilized a descriptive cross-sectional research design using a self-reporting questionnaire to gather data from elementary schoolteachers in northern Jordan from February to June 2019. So if there is anything out there on this topic, please link it to me.The purpose of this study was to ascertain elementary schoolteachers’ perceptions of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in northern Jordan. So I have been trying to explain it, but of course I am not a psychologist and she is someone who respects the findings of research and science, which is what I am after. Now of course there are other factors, but my wife doesn't seem to understand that this is one of them, a big part of it. And we as parents have always been positive reinforcers, but kids love positive reinforcement in the moment. I have tried to fill that gap from home but there is only so much I can do. How I know this may be the case is because A: I use to do the same thing at her age, and B: Because the things her teacher said she was struggling with is things she does effortlessly at home. I've seen it mentioned in a few of Jordans other longer videos, but cannot find any content specifically on this topic.īack story for those who care to read: Basically I have been trying to explain this to my wife, our daughter (8yo) is very smart (yea every parent says that I know) and does well in class, as a result she tends to get left to her own devices and doesn't receive much positive feedback, because it's expected, and the kids who are the strugglers in her class get all the most positive feedback, so as a result she has started to intentionally fail things she knows just to get some positive encouragement from her teacher. I'm trying to find if Jordan has done a specific video on how people (especially children) will look for either good attention or bad attention, and how they'd rather be hated than ignored.

Day 3: Favorite WenZhou moment
Tumblr media
Day 1 2
Honorable mention: Ni Bu pei!
So first off, I must include the Ni Bu Pei scene from Ep 27. The BTS is just so happy and sweet, and I love that both GJ and ZZH gang up on HYM lol.
ZZH: I can't stop laughing when I see your face, ni bu pei~!
GJ: Please bb if you laugh i'm gonna laugh oh no it's starti-
HYM: These gays, I stg-

4. Night Roof Date ep 9 + Ep 12 + EP 17
"You'll tell me why when you want to."
"It's difficult for us at our age to show our hearts to others. I can't do this myself and I shouldn't ask you to do so. So I decided to take the first step, and take a gamble. You are the one that I know."
I have a soft spot for considerate gentleness. ZZS is just so gentle with WKX every time the question of WKX's past comes up. He never pushes him to tell him about his past, and he understands that everyone's got things they regret about their past. He understands that WKX may not even know how to tell him, or how he feels, or if he even remembers everything anyway, but that's okay, ZZS is willing to wait and give him space. Ahh, so sweet.
Tumblr media
3. Midnight ZZS Tears - EP 24
"Lao Wen, there's nothing between us that we can't discuss."
Tumblr media
This scene solidified how much ZZS trusts WKX, regardless if WKX was willing to entrust him with his true feelings or not, ZZS just wanted to show that it's okay, and he can take the first step in admitting all the things he's regretted in his life to his zhiji. Because he knows WKX will understand him, how complicated life can be, when you have a good heart, but you do bad things, how can anyone else but WKX understand him? Here, WKX also doesn't push ZZS to confess any aspect of his past to him, but ZZS does so willingly - maybe to pave the way for WKX to do the same someday.
2. Confessions in the Rain - EP 14
This scene is one of my favorite favorite WenZhou scenes, which I will talk about more for Day 4, saddest WenZhou moment.
1. Basking in the Sun - EP 12
Honestly, this scene never fails to put a smile on my face. They're just so soft with each other. I don't prefer the overtly sugary/make-out slow-motion scenes in romance, I think it's so overdone and there's usually a lack of chemistry. There are only a few instances where it works out really well. Contrary to that, we have this very simple, slice-of-life scene where WKX calls out to A-Xu 3x, and expresses how much he feels surrounded by love, being able to call someone and have them be there for him. A-Xu is the same, and calls Lao Wen x3, each a lil more playful. I think it's one of the most romantic scenes I have ever watched lol. Of course it's also due to the very intense chemistry between Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun.
During the concert, the hosts said that it was the first time WKX heard a call from the human world, the good part of it, full of hope and love. I think it must be the same for ZZS as well, since they both come from morally grey backgrounds and find this moment of happiness (and possible redemption?) in each other.

I think a really interesting theme of YTTD is the degrees of responsibility and accountability the characters have in regards to their own trauma and how this plays into their perception of themselves. Nankidai does an excellent job of humanizing his characters by making some aspect of their backstories something that’s out of their control and something that happened to them... but all of the morally grey characters had some sort of agency in becoming the person they are. And, even better, you can see how this comes to influence Sara over time.
For example, Shin is one of the biggest victims of the game. He was manipulated and abused by Midori when he was in high school, and being shown his 0.0% chance of survival was a very intentional move to break him. All of these factors were out of his control, and they helped shape him into the villain we grew to know. He didn’t just become like this all by himself, he was corrupted in a very deliberate way! But the actions he takes as a result of this only end up contributing to his own downfall; he chooses to lie to and manipulate the rest of the group, destroying their trust in him, and his act of pretending to despise Kanna contributes to getting her killed. And if he lives to the end of 2-2, he ends up psychologically abusing a minor out of anger. Regardless of his trauma and frustration, this is a move that he made with the knowledge that it would hurt others. It’s why there’s no way you can claim Shin to be either a good person or a bad person, because he makes choices he KNOWS are going to hurt others.
Then, there’s Keiji. For the longest time, he believed that he had killed his own role model and he suffered from a great deal of trauma as a result of that. We learn in 3-1a that Midori tricked him into shooting Mr. Policeman, but that still doesn’t absolve him of everything he’s done. Why? Because he let that incident turn him into a terrible person. He may not have meant to shoot Mr. Policeman, but he knew what he was doing when he chose to let Megumi die, and when he manipulated Sara’s trust, and when he voted for Kanna. He let his perception of himself as a terrible person turn into apathy, and he abandoned all of his morals under the belief that he was incapable of becoming a better person. He played a role in his own deterioration.
Finally, we have Sara, whose main source of trauma is her best friend’s death. This was not something that she was equipped to deal with, and it wasn’t something that she could’ve dealt with cleanly either way. Either Joe died or everyone else died, as simple as that. For a variety of factors, though, she still blames herself and is unable to let go of it until the end of chapter 2. It’s why Keiji is generally not a good role model for Sara- because he lets his self loathing overwhelm him and gives himself no room for development or redemption. By the end of chapter 2, her blame for herself over Joe’s death and her inadequacy as a leader dictates whether she votes for Shin or Kanna, and then where her mental state goes after that. Despite the fact that we as the player are making the choice, she as the character is still determining where her mental health goes. And if she makes the more selfish choice, we can see her self-preservation tendencies and selfishness beginning to reflect Shin’s and Keiji’s.

the geralt himbo thing is so annoying bc he’s a literal encyclopedia of monster facts??? and wins by setting traps and such??? he’d be dead if he was a himbo.
Absolutely agree
The entire point of Geralt’s character is that he’s a book repeatedly judged for his cover. The denizens of the villages he visits (and rescues) look at him and see a monstrous killing machine, when in fact not only is he a living, breathing library of information on geography, history, and monster lore, as well as a tactical genius, but he goes out of his way to treat everyone with fairness and dignity, and goes out of his way to not take a life (even the life of a bloodthirsty predator) whenever possible. He may not remember the little boy he was before he was left at Kaer Morhen, but he still lives and breathes the creed his mother passed down to him.
But only like, 7% of the people he meets ever get to know that side of him because as soon as they lay eyes on him they immediately write him off as being only the sum of all their preconceived notions.
In that way, fandom’s mischaracterization of Geralt is very meta. But that’s what happens when you only watch a show through memes, or only pay attention to scenes that feature your favorite side character. It’s like all the violent misogynists and racists obsessed with Draco Malfoy and Dr*rry mass migrated over to The Witcher fandom once they found a new pathetic white boy to ship with a protagonist who barely tolerates him.
It’s a phenomenon found in every fandom but so far The Witcher fandom has been the worst I’ve seen, even moreso than HP, because you literally have to have muted the volume for every one of Geralt’s lines to genuinely buy into the Dumb Meatball characterization of him the way a large section of the fandom have. It’s a bit of an oversimplification to blame this on the die-hard Geralt/Jaskier stans but they’re maggots, so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Gentleman Jack is not only a romantic period drama that just happens to have lesbians. It is a romantic period drama that treats its WLW characters with the EXACT SAME care and seriousness as we afford to the likes of Lizzy Bennet and Mr. Darcy. And on top of that, it is conscious about these women -- it’s not, “these are women who are in a male/female role.” These are WOMEN, who LOVE each other, and who are VALID just for that. No strings attached.
This is tender, genuine, respectful, caring, thoughtful storytelling that wants to treat a WLW relationship with all of the respect and love and absolute specificity that we have poured into centuries of period obsessions.
And then the parallels! How they let it be rife with tropes, too!
Anne’s roguish, messy ponytail, like an effing hero emerging from the moors?
Check.
Meeting your estranged lover in the midst of nature, aching, knowing you were wrong in your last actions with them? And seeing each other, and knowing it’s time to fix it?
Check.
A heartfelt admission of past wrongs and future rights? From both directions?
Check.
A sweeping, epic romantic kiss to seal the deal, right down to the incredible swell of the music and the crane shot to take in the vista?
Fuckin’ CHECK.
We skip RIGHT to the wedding. We skip RIGHT to showing in exquisite detail how much these two care for each other -- the fingers touching, the smiles, the bickering, the fact that Anne is wearing BLUE AND HAS SHUCKED HER ALL-BLACK AESTHETIC FOR THE WEDDING.
This is...gosh. It’s just exactly what I expect and crave from a period romance, but so devoted to letting these women be period romance heroines and doing them justice as WLW.
I cried, like, four times watching the last twenty minutes of this episode. It is representation at its fondest, most passionate best.
We’re living the dream, kids. Fuck.

So I realized this earlier today but just getting around to making a post about it but the GF wiki says that Melody was part of Bill’s human throne during WMG and since we know she lived out of town that tells me she must’ve been in town to visit Soos, maybe? LIKE CAN YOU IMAGINE COMING TO VISIT YOUR BOYFRIEND AND THEN WEIRDMAGEDDON HAPPENS. Oh my god, poor Melody JDSKLFJSLKDF
