I am staring st the two drafts I have for my 'Glory of Grace' ao3 Jason fiction and I've been screaming at myself to finish them but fuuuuyycckk.
Ones of Jason getting a quest from his father to save some eagles from a monster up in snowy mountains.
The other is Jason and Reyna bonding while taking a rest at a 90's themes diner before heading back to camp after a quest.

Hey folks who are observing Advent this year, the patriarchs and bishops of Jerusalem have put out a statement to Christians across the world that I recommend reading. I also invite you to join in extra prayer and almsgiving and (if it’s safe for you) fasting in the lead up to Christmas this year. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk about any or all of those. Preparing for the feast of the Incarnation is a good opportunity to ground ourselves in the humanity of all people and to offer what we can towards the hope of a lasting and life-giving peace. Blessings to y'all in this season.

Okay, we all know being a demigod is a shit position. Its scary and gets you killed in really nasty ways. But I feel like being a Big Three Kid has to be the shitiest position in all the shit positions.
Like, imagine being Thalia Grace. Your dad is king of the gods, lord of the skies. Led a war to get rid of a tyrant. And the only thing you get is his scorned wife AND brother, who both try to kill you (with one technically succeeding), a drunk of a mother, and brother who you thought was dead. Oh, wait, he’s not dead! No instead he was used as an offering to appease your dad’s wife and help fight in a war and prevent mass destruction.
Or maybe you can imagine being Percy. Son of the sea god, the stormbringer, the earthshaker. You get to live with a disgusting, abusive man for around 6 years. Who smells like literal shit. All because your scent as a demigod is too strong, BECAUSE of who your father is. You see things that you aren’t supposed to see and do things that people can’t do and go years thinking something is wrong with you. That your the problem. Then you get to the one place where you’re supposed to be save. But! Here is the kicker! You’re not! Your uncles hate you and you’ve been accused of stealing a symbol of power. A series of events that will kick off a war, and guess what. You’re a center point for it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood.
Mhm, but then there’s Hazel. Daughter Pluto, god of the underworld and riches. But that doesn’t really change anything does it? She’s still living in 1930s America, in a red state. One where confederate flags still hang if you go deep enough into the city. She go to a school where the kids are supposed to be just like her! They still don’t like her tho. She’s got no idea who your father is, only that he left her with a parting gift. Only it’s not really a gift. Sure, she can pull rubies and diamonds from the earth, all worth millions. But anyone who’s ever gonna touch it will die. She lives with her mother, a woman gone so mad with greed it kills her. And Hazel, by the way. Laying dead Alaska, inhaling oil. But it doesn’t end there! She can’t have her mother suffering for eternity, can she? The answer is no. Hazel gets to spend the next 70 years in the Fields of Asphodel. It still doesn’t end! Because when she’s brought back to life, she gets to fight in a war against giants, her sad story seemingly never ending.
Nico’s a son of one of the Big Three, one of the most ancient and most powerful. But most people look at him as something bad, something not worth taking a second glance at. Something too look away from, mostly. He’s from the 30s, spent years in a magical time casino with only his sister at his side. She doesn’t stay for long though, she dies soon after they discover their heritage. And he doesn’t remember his mother much, a name without a face. A face without a name. He survived an attempted assassination at 2, though it wouldn’t be the only time his was life was threatened. He clings to his sister, even though she’s dead. He’s the son of the god of the underworld, is he not? There had to be a way, and there is. Only she won’t talk to him, she seems more concerned with communicating with the guy who got her killed instead. She chooses rebirth, and he decides to lay it to rest. She’s not coming back, and he has a war to fight in. (He gets stuck in a jar and forcibly outed a few years later, but that’s a lot to get into for now.)
Jason Grace is a pillar of New Rome, their golden boy, their American boy. He’s a son of Jupiter, a natural born leader. He’s been at camp for as long as he can remember, he wants to be praetor soon. He’s had a rocky start, but maybe he’ll be one of the lucky ones. Retire a veteran and live a long life with Reyna in New Rome. Only that never happened. He has no idea where he is, there’s a girl holding his hand, and she’s cute but it feels wrong. They get attacked and people come in and call him a Greek demigod, familiar, yes, but still wrong. It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t put things into perspective the way it does for Piper and Leo. He’s goes to a quest to rescue Hera, the name sounds wrong. He nearly dies but at least he remembers who he is. He spends the next 6 months trying to get back home, even though he isn’t too sure on where or what home is. He gets there, eventually, but it doesn’t stop there. He’s dragged on quests and battles and fights in the war but at least he survives it, he’s still there. Apollo needs help, he and Piper give him aid. He gets dumped. He doesn’t get to he a veteran in New Rome. Not with Reyna, not with Piper, not with anybody. He doesn’t get kids or grandkids. No, he gets shot down, another demigod buried.
You could be any one of them, really. Pick your poison, but I guarantee you won’t like any of them. Spending years trying to find a place where you belong, where you feel safe. Only for it to never come.
Percy, who, if you really look at the books, isn’t really all that well liked until he’s at least 2 years into camp. Only to then be sidelined because the courages, brave, fearless daughter of Zeus is back from the dead. Nico, the son of one of the most feared and hated gods. Who has death written all over him, who excludes it so much animals can smell it and humans can sense it, who’s been ostracized and pushed off to the side since he was 10. Hazel, who was treated like disease as soon as she stepped foot on camp soil. Who’s gone her whole life looked as something that’s cursed, that will only bring misfortune, a bad omen.
Shit positions, all of them.

not me typing a whole rant about some catholics being insufferably smug about their "better looking churches" while ignoring the history behind the barebone austerity of protestant churches and then deleting it all because my seething anger isn't christ-like either

"God has never said you have to perform great deeds for your country and humanity to have lived well Where would that leave all the sick people in the world? Look at me, for instance, needing assistance all the time. You wouldn't say that we sick and bedridden of the world are 'useful'! But usefulness is not the point. Our lives are of great worth if we accept with good grace the situation Providence places us in and go on living lovingly....Our talents and handicaps may differ greatly, but we are all equal in this: each of us is born to manifest God's glory; to know, love and serve him here below and share in his eternal life after death...if you make the vital decision to live humbly and lovingly, you will live fruitful lives and be happy."

i can't stop listening to the 'purpose is glorious' track from this season's ost and thinking about how lovely the title and its meaning are. it's just such an amazing underlying theme in this show, and - while i do have criticisms about some of the choices made for the series finale - i really do feel the writers wholeheartedly delivered in sending that message home. for me personally, loki's ending is so gratifying and a large part of that is solely from viewing their arc's conclusion with the perspective of this theme in mind. to have spent years watching this character i hold very dear to my heart struggle to find belonging, to feel as though they matter and there is reason in their existence, finally get a chance to show - and recognize - their worth was so, so rewarding. and honestly, i think the message behind the phrasing of 'purpose is glorious' is all the more meaningful because of how loki's arc finished. yes, the outcome was bittersweet; yes, we're left knowing loki didn't get the happiness they undeniably earned after everything they'd gone through. it smarts something fierce to know their journey up until they deviated from their timeline and became a variant, as well as seen their eventual intended fate. the ache is only worsened after witnessing everything that happens within the TVA and the entirety of loki's character growth leading up to a redefining moment where they willingly choose to undergo a nightmarish amount of time in the endeavor to do the right thing. of course we want them to emerge victorious when they've struggled for so long, but that's not the point. loki's final moments are them forfeiting their right to a happy ending to preserve the stories of others because all stories matter and should inherently reserve the free will to be written; as sylvie says, loki makes their choice so their loved ones and life across the multiverse still have a chance to belong somewhere and embrace their place in the world. the take away is that even burden can be glorious. even with all the hardships of life - all the inevitable heartache, disappointment, and grief we encounter just by being alive - we have meaning in our existence. there is meaning in the trials we face, and the suffering we endure in order to overcome them. our pain gives us purpose; it gives us the ability to love, to grow from and for each other, and choose to sacrifice our happiness for the benefit of another. loki's purpose was forged in the bonds of those they met in their time at the TVA and the sense of value they gained from their companionship. their sacrifice perfectly conveys how the human capacity to love is one of cosmic greatness, which can ultimately surpass our instinctual desire to preserve one's self. we can move immovable mountains and challenge insurmountable adversity in behalf of the ones we love and their welfare. if that isn't an act deserving of glory, I don't know what is.
tldr; loki's purpose is the friends they made along the way = as the saying goes, 'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all'. or: our own lives have purpose because of the connections we share with others, even when we are met with great loss.
#also this just shows the depth of love loki derived from knowing mobius and how they were changed for the better because of it#how mobius' initial - and repeated - acknowledgement of their potential is what gave them the necessary tools to rewrite their destiny#when loki first watches their fate on the sacred timeline their devastation is palpable; they now know they are meant to die -#at the hands of thanos after failing to save their brother -#after losing one last time#they see their final fate and know they were never meant to win; never to reach the respect and admiration theyve been chasing all this tim#but they're given a second chance at an ending - one they can be proud of and has meaning#and they SUCCEED; they ascend and take the throne not for power or control or even glory but because of the people they care for!!!!!!#loki accepts their burden with grace for the benefit of others; they escape the harrowing demise once preordained for them -#and while they mourn what they must leave behind they are fulfilled by the triumph of saving EVERYONE this time#the parallels between their sacred timeline ending and the finale's makes me way too emotional i am not okay#i have so many thoughts about the ost guahahauffh ignore me#i am obsessed with this track specifically like i want to write even more meta abt the significance of being used during mobius' last scene#okay these tags are way too long i'm shutting up now i'll see myself out#txt: icarus foaming @ the mouth analysis#char tags:#god of stories and faking death#peepaw from outerspace#loki meta#lokius#loki s2#loki season 2#loki spoilers#loki series#marvel#mcu#loki#Spotify

I will say as an addition to the post I just reblogged that while Mary Magdalene was definitely not a sex worker and actually I can’t remember any particular mention of them in the gospels, I do think statistically it’s extremely likely that they came to hear Jesus preach and that he had some contact with them, even if that doesn’t get recorded (and I doubt that has anything to do with a particular conspiracy and is more along the lines of “that dude did a LOT of miracles and we didn’t have time to get everyone’s name and occupation” [in the great majority of the time we don’t have anyone’s name for the miracles that DID get passed down])
Anyway all that to say if “Jesus was nice to sex workers” is important to you I see no reason to give that up and absolutely no reason whatever to believe the opposite was true.

OH MY FUCKING GOD
I THINK I CRACKED THE CODE ON THE PREMIUM FARMS NAMES IN THE PROMISED NEVERLAND
Okay so something we all know is that the name of every Premium Farm starts with the letter G, and so far I have seen no explanations as to why. So I decided to do some research on the author (Kaiu Shirai) and his interviews in hopes of finding something, to no avail.
Or so I thought.
See, I found something important (in my opinion) that I easily brushed over. Shirai is a Christian. I at first just thought this was some interesting trivia or something but then I took a moment to think about it, and I quickly made the connection between his religion and Emma’s orphanage starting with the word grace (Grace Field) - an extremely important concept in the Christian religion.
So, I quickly decided to look up the significance of the letter G in the bible and found this:
Tumblr media
Also, gamol represents the caring of a creature until it is mature (which was taken from the sentence in Genesis 21:8:
Tumblr media
Knowing that the purpose of the Premium Farms is to nurture the children as best as possible until their shipment age, and that Shirai is a Christian, there’s absolutely no way this is a coincidence.
To be fair, it could likely also be a reference to God or Genesis, but the more common way to refer to gods in Japanese would be 神 or 神様 (kami or kamisama). Though, the Christian god can be commonly referred to as ゴッド (Goddo) so the point still still stands. I doubt it is a reference to Genesis though since TPN and the Book of Genesis don’t really have much to do with each other and it’s also called 創世記 (souseiki) which doesn’t even start with a G.
Anyways I just found this really interesting and I needed to share with everyone!

Introducing Grace Huang (& Lucy Huang) in "Jaded" [Yellowjackets]
"You don't even know her." Neither do you, I think, even though claiming that I know Shauna Sadecki would be an overstatement. All I remember from before is the frumpy teenage girl who was always tagging along in Jackie Taylor's shadow. And I remember the way my sister's jaw clenched whenever her name - any of their names, really - was mentioned after. I don't tell Adam this, though. I don't talk about my sister or the 1996 Yellowjackets. Ever. Because the second I do so in this town, I stop being Grace and turn into "The Sister of Lucy Huang".
It has Peter Gadiot, did anyone really expect me to keep my paws off "Yellowjackets"? xD I sat on this one for over a year, but with all the wonderful OCs crossing my dash these days I couldn't hold it in any longer. Oops...
