Finally watched LIGHTYEAR with my brother and my god, that movie was so damn good. I have no idea why people were shitting on this movie (homophobes and anti-rebooters i have my eye on you), like it was really good. My brother and I had to pause the movie a few times just so we could laugh and cry and scream over the twists. Zurg scared the absolute shit out of us, like he was so big and menacing, like he reminded us of Darth Vader but somehow more frightening. Also we both got so attached to Alisha and Sox, we cried when Buzz got to Alisha’s empty office and saw her last message for him. Sox immediately made us go awwww when we saw him because we also had our cat watching the movie with us, so he got to see a friendly face on screen. I loved the scene when Buzz got the wings on his suit out to fight Zurg and save the rest of the team from falling, a true masterpiece in my opinion. All in all this movie is a 12/10 on the moist-meter (my brother’s words, not mine) and 5 stars.

Okay.
Barbie surpassed every expectation I had.
Yes, this movie is funny and colorful and whimsical and full of sparkles.
But it is so. much. more than that.
I felt every emotion while watching it and I actually cried more than once. (I am NOT someone who cries at tv and movies.)
Barbie is such a profound commentary on what it means to be a woman and what it means to be a human and live in the world and with all of the expectations and frustrations that come with that.
I came away from Barbie nostalgic, hopeful, and honestly, with a sense of sadness.
I loved it.
If you're on the fence, watch it.

Spiderverse Miles Morales instead of Improvement Hell today because this movie has become my obsession since I've seen it. Movie of the year hands down, I'm fairly confident nothing is topping it anytime soon. Literal must watch animation. I wanted to scream at the ending, but then I realized this means we'll get two bomb sequels instead of one and I removed the s from my screaming.

The emotional impact of Killmonger saying “I’ll take you both, Uncle James” to really show the betrayal he felt after his father’s death. How he probably didn’t even know his whole life that Uncle James was Wakandan until this moment.

//I keep remembering Gattaca is my go to for Thad's favorite movie and the irony of that is not lost on me. With it being a story set in the future where essentially designer babies who are meticulously planned down to their DNA and eye color and these perfectly created people are the norm, and just how it's about a man in this society who was not created like the rest of these people (he was just born and not designed) and is limited by his birth in turn proves this society wrong. He proves he's good enough as he is. 'Imperfect' and all.
