My brain went into Steddie overdrive today. Sheesh! I came up with two AUs.

1- Secret Garden AU- Robin as Mary Lennox, the orphan from India sent to live with her uncle (Hopper in this situation) who is rarely home. She meets Eddie (as Dickon the townie boy) through her maid Max. Uncle Wayne is the old gardener that comes and tends the garden anyway. Joyce is the fearful housekeeper, trying to keep Robin from learning the house’s secret. She keeps claiming the boy Robin hears at night is Will (Jonathan is a former undergardener turned stable boy.) And of course Steve is Colin, the master’s secret son. And then make it gay!

2- Modern AU. Eddie is looking to get the Evenstar from LotR tattooed on his chest but his usual artist packed up and moved to New York. So he’s on the hunt for a new artist when a friend (no idea who yet) tells him that they recently got work done by this guy who’s freaking amazing. He’s told to go the Royal Pain tattoo shop and ask for Stevie. No last name. So he goes and Robin is minding the front desk and he remembers her from school. And suddenly his mind fills in Stevie’s last name. Harrington. And sure enough that’s who walks out. Only this is not King Steve, oh no. This Steve’s hair is shaved on the sides and floppy up top. A single lock is dyed bright pink. He’s got a piercing in his eyebrow and left ear and tattoos peaking from his tight polo shirt. Eddie’s panicking now. He can’t have King Steve tattoo him! How would he hide the erection he knows he’s gonna pop?

But Steve is smiling brightly at him and asking him about if he wants to do a large back tattoo of the pendant but Eddie tells him he’s saving his back for some wicked bat wings. But he hasn’t found an artist he trusts enough to do it. Steve immediately offers his portfolio to look at while he sets up for the Evenstar tat. Robin leans across the counter and tells Eddie that he better at least get Steve’s number if he doesn’t intend to return for the back tattoo. Because Steve hates doing back tattoos or any tattoos that require more than one or two sessions because he gets bored easy. But the fact that he offered to do Eddie’s means Steve is interested and wants him to come back. And she really doesn’t want to deal with the pining.

Eddie doesn’t know what to say to that and he is thankfully saved by Steve calling him to come back. Steve asks him to trust him on the chest piece and give him carte blanche. Eddie thinks about it for a moment and then agrees. When it’s done he is grateful he trusted his instincts because the tattoo? It’s gorgeous. It looks as though it’s coming out of his chest, skin peeling back to see bone and his heart and the Evenstar in the middle of it, shining like a beacon. Eddie almost cries at how beautiful it is.

Steve hands him is business card with his cell phone number on the back. And Eddie walks away with the shops own lotion and the knowledge that he would be back to have Steve do those wings.

Arthur had somehow got into a situation wherein he had to bugger the man who was – let’s face it – the closest thing he had to a best friend, and unless luck was very much on his side things were going to be awkward forever. Camelot has been stricken by a terrible drought! Fortunately, Merlin has found a magical ritual that can bring back the rain. Unfortunately, it requires group sex - and Merlin is a virgin.

this was one of the last merlin fics i wrote n its a very stupid and silly and fluffy gangbang. really enjoyed writing the 'everyone lives happily ever after' AU on this one. very fun :)

VERY tough call here as i wrote a lot of witcher fics i still love but hand on heart this is the one i most enjoyed writing. blasted it out in like a week iirc. great stuff.

They know he's hiding something from them, but in their line of work everyone has secrets. Shazam's no different. Is he? Or, the Justice League accidentally inducts a child and then deals with the fall-out.

Alt+Shift=Sburb redo???

hi. so i had an mspfa thing called Alt+Shift=Sburb! (yes spelled like that)

and it... well it's not the best in terms of visual or story quality- specifically in that the visuals were mostly base edits and hodge-podged school laptop trackpad art and the writing was not that special.

And then I ended it out of nowhere i believe 2 years later after only like what, 50 pages? and started a new one that I intend to still run also called NEW_GAME.sburb (yes spelled like that)

I'm much better skilled I thinks so I've decided to do a thing!

I'm gonna (re)create the panels and fully redo the story. Make it better now that I know how to at least make something sophomoric instead of freshman-y (not a word).

And also I'm redoing concepts for the story that have NOT EVEN been hinted at slightly within either story.

anyway here's some characters. They won't appear again for a while but trust me when I say remaking them is vital to remaking the rest of the whole shebang (i always think of that spider from LotR whenever I say "shebang". Shelob my beloved 🕷️)

(classpects subject to change) Now that I'm able to make things on my own with minimal-to-zilch bases or borrowed assets (besides like. jpegs and stuff for posters. those don't count), I too can be a Cool Kid.

Most recently I’ve been writing for Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies, but according to my AO3 dashboard, I’ve posted fics for just under 40 fandoms and naming them all seems excessive... That being said, my top five are Lord of the Rings, Phantom, MCU (mostly Captain America), Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Harry Potter. 

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’d have to say that it’s probably a tie between The Worst Thing (MCU, Steve/Bucky, omegaverse, infertility, miscarriage) and overboard (LOTR, Frodo/Sam, trauma, depression, suicide attempt)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? 

Hard to say, since aside from the two mentioned above, I write mostly fluffy happy endings... 

8. Do you get hate on fics? 

Thankfully, no. But maybe that just means I need to write more divisive fics? 

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do write smut, and it’s probably mostly -- if not all -- omegaverse tbh... 

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I love love love writing crossovers! I think they’re fun and silly and a good time all around. Don’t know if I have one that’s significantly crazier than the rest, but I think i read the hobbit (in 1937 when it first came out) is one of my favorites to think about. I’ve got a soft spot for ws!Bucky is all. Putting him in Middle Earth and adding him to the Fellowship was just for funsies :)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of...

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! A reader translated New Colors into Chinese, which was super neat!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Absolutely, 100% -- in the sense of collaboratively plotting out and writing a story, as well as taking turns in an improvised narrative style RP, and also something in between where the premise of a fic was agreed upon and each of us had characters to write, RP style. 

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I don’t think I can pick a singular ship to label as my favorite... I’d call Zoro/Sanji my OTP, but only because they were the first ship I got involved in fandom for -- I haven’t read a fic of them in years. I’m reading almost exclusively Erik/Christine fics right now, but I’ve come across Erik/Raoul fics that have made me fall in love with them, as well as Erik/Raoul/Christine fics that are so so good... I guess in terms of longevity and my ability to always come back to them, Steve/Bucky has been a solid ship for me? 

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Gonna go with Zoro’s Promise, since it’s the only multichapter fic I never bothered to move from FF dot net to AO3. It’s literally been ten years since I updated it lmao

16. What are your writing strengths?

On one hand, I guess my ADHD-fueled hyperfixation that allows me to write fic after fic could be considered a strength...?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

On the other hand, as soon as my ADHD-fueled hyperfixation loses its vice grip on me, I lose all motivation to write. Especially if I’ve already written out the scenes that I had in my head, I become incapable of filling in the gaps and making it a cohesive fic... I honestly don’t think I have very good writing hygiene even after taking classes on being better about being a hobby writer oops 

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I personally tend to avoid writing in another language, because I think it’s hard to do well. Sometimes it takes you out of the fic because you have to copy-paste it into Google Translate to figure out what they’re saying, sometimes it takes you out of the fic because you speak the language and the author evidently doesn’t and they used Google Translate. 

19. First fandom you wrote for?

First fandom I wrote fic for and then posted would be One Piece... but in actuality, I’ve been writing fanfiction from long before I knew that’s what it was called. I was probably in second or third grade when I wrote self-insert Peter Pan fics. Also Shrek fics. I don’t have the notebooks I wrote them in anymore, but I have a very vivid memory of writing them.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

This is maybe the hardest question of all to answer, because while I like a lot of my fics, I don’t know that there’s one that I could call my favorite. My current WIP stranger than you dreamt it (PotO, Erik/Christine, ABO) is one I’m excited to keep working on because, well, omegaverse. But also time and time again (LOTR, Frodo/Sam, Time Travel, Fix-it) was one of the first multi chapter fics I’ve actually finished, so in that regard I’m rather proud of it. I liked the time-travel-y premise of it as well. And even though what comes after (HP, Snape/Harry, Time Travel, Fix-it) is still technically a WIP, I’m still pleased with how it’s coming along... though it’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated it oops

Amphibia AU workshops;

How about middle earth AU?  I got the idea for this AU after I saw fan art of Anne as a hobbit on Reddit.

Oh this is fascinating. So I think this is a 'born into the world' crossover. As much as Marcy would absolutely delight over being isekai'd into a War of the Warlocks clone, I think there's only so much the trio could do being added into the story of Lotr as their canon incarnations.

I'm really torn between 'The girls are all hobbits raised together' and 'The girls are born into the Hobbits, Dwarves, and elves respectively.'

Mostly cause one of the things that I really like about the girl's friendship from growing up together.

Never mind got it.

Gonna buck stereotype here... I don't think any of the girls are our protagonist. I think Sprig is our Frodo analogue. Him and Polly raised by their grandfather, and old Hobbit with a past he doesn't go into much. When Sprig comes of age and Polly isn't too much younger it's Hopediah's 111th birthday. A wizard and long time family friend, Valeriana, comes to be a conjurer of cheap tricks bring some excitement to the party. Doing illusions and other bits of magic.

Hop Pop of course has the one ring, and after raising Sprig to maturity is planning to take his leave but as in canon, Val stops him and has him give up the ring. Sprig ends up getting a hold of it, gifted while Val goes off to research the ring.

The wraiths come and Sprig and Polly and forced to flee, though not far into their flight they run into Ivy and Maddie, one of whom is itching to go on an adventure and one of whom is fascinated by the magic of the ring. They eventually arrive at Bree fairly unscathed where they run into Strider, also known as Estel, also known as the Angel of Death. Or Anne to her friends. Our lost heir to the throne of Gondor in this AU.

After some perilous adventures they arrive in Rivendell where Olivia is holding court and Anne meets up with her old friend Marcy.

A Half-Elf from Mirkwood, Marcy was disdained for her elven parents dalliance with a human. Ultimately adopted by Yunan who was visiting as part of an envoy of Rivendell and taken in as a Ward by Olivia. Despite being better taken care of in Rivendell, Marcy often felt out of place, young and fascinated by a world that everyone she knew was largely apathetic towards. Its part of why her and Anne built up such a close bond in their youth and maintained it once Anne started her career as a ranger.

Back to the present day. The council to decide the fate of the ring is called. Which is where we meet Sasha in this AU. Daughter of the Steward of Gondor(Andrias Maybe? Not sure) with something to prove and a chip on her shoulder.

Ultimately our fellowship ends up being Sprig, Polly, Maddie and Ivy as our hobbits. Anne and Sasha as our humans. Marcy and Maybe Yunan as our elves. Then Im torn between Grime or Barrel as our dwarven companion.

Probably stop here for now, with the fellowship set up. Not sure about the more long term plot developments and changes, but I think this is a fun set up for a Lotr au

part 2

after an hour of feeling like your brain is exploding, you've finished creating your dnd character. eddie was really patient with you. he probably still feels bad about what happened earlier, you think.

luckily, your slight obsession with lotr/the hobbit means you're a little familiar with some of the terminology. you call your character aragorn: it's the first thing that comes to mind and, as you say this, eddie laughs a little.

"you know, i've seen you around but didn't peg you as the type to be into this kind thing."

"really?" you ask, "what did you think i'd be into?"

"honestly i don't know, i mean you seem kind of neutral really."

"he's pretty cool though, we hung out last year." dustin butts in

"dude how many male role models do you need?" mike asks

you put a hand to your chest, "you have other male role models?" you say, pretending to be upset

"we should have a contest sometime, see who wins. you, me or steve" eddie says

"steve harrington?"

"yeah i know, dustin says he's different now but definitely no contest for the two of us."

"hey eddie we are actually going to play dnd tonight, right?" gareth asks

"yeah yeah don't worry man"

your hand shakes as you pick up the dice. dustin failed his shot so if you don't roll a 20, everyone's dead. you take a deep breath.

"fingers crossed" you say

the dice seems to fall forever but you can't believe your eyes when it finally settles. 20. the rooms breaks out with cheering. eddie pulls you in for a hug and pats your back.

"you sure you've never played before?"

"yeah, just had the best teacher"

"damn you're gonna make me blush"

it turns out you and eddie leave in the same direction. it's getting dark out and, even though you used to think of hawkins as safe, so much has happened in recent years that you feel a little relieved to have company. especially such handsome company.

"you're still in that band right? what was it called again?" you ask

"corroded coffin, we play every friday over that way"

"yeah i remember you back in middle school, made me want to start playing guitar, you looked so cool."

"did you?"

"no my parents wouldn't let me. they're...very christian"

"i could try to teach you some if you came over."

"im so down for that. i'd probably need to call my parents first though. do you have a phone at yours"

"yeah, it's pretty old but it does the job"

Beatrice Duke does not sneak into other people's empty flats, and certainly not to make out with her ex-boyfriend. She doesn't even have an ex-boyfriend! That is, not anymore.

What she does have is Ben, and that feels like a miracle, after they’d all but fallen apart under months of missed texts and truncated video calls and so many hours between them. As it turns out, though, even long-distance had proven less painful than actively staying away from each other has been.

2. diamonds (Satine/Nini, Moulin Rouge the Musical, rated M)

Nini is beautiful, and sensuous, and makes Satine’s blood boil. She’s the only person at the Rouge who isn’t intimidated by the mystique of the Sparkling Diamond. The only one brave enough to smack her on the ass on her way offstage or criticize her to her face when Satine drops a note or flubs a dance step, rare though that is. She challenges her.

3. a single thread of gold (Malina, Shadow & Bone, Modern AU)

She walks into the restaurant and there he is, at the table in the corner with his hands in his pockets and his long legs crossed lazily. Mal has his gaze trained on the couple in the center of the room, a blond boy in a too-fancy suit and a dark-haired girl in a blue cocktail dress. Mal and Alina are supposed to be watching for a signal, in case their friend Zoya wants them to bail her out of the blind date they’d set her up on.

The shadow general has cold, cold eyes. As Kirigan sneers at him, those eyes fill Mal with a mortal fear, because this man has had Alina in his power for months. A man with eyes like that- he could have done anything to her, to make her serve him, to keep her from writing, all these months. There will be no waiting for an escort or a summons. Mal needs to find Alina now.

6. you keep me up at night (Offspring (TV), Nina x Zara, rated E)

Nina Proudman’s mouth goes dry. She’s lying in her bed, and in front of her is Zara Perkich, clad only in a lacy black g-string and a positively dirty smirk.

“Like what you see?” she asks, knowing the answer by the dilation of Nina’s pupils and her sudden inability to produce words.

7. on the doorstep (Beadick, Lolilo, Bea is in on the rules for matchmaking reasons)

“It’s 9:45, Benedick, you’re being ridiculous!” Beatrice snaps, her fingers curled around the doorframe so he can’t shut her out. It’s only been a day, and she’s already done with this tent business.

“I’m sorry, it’s the rules-” Ben starts, going pink with embarrassment.

8. in every universe (Beadick, NMTD/Lolilo)

i. Game of Thrones

“We’d be so dead in this universe,” Ben points out as the GoT credits roll. “We’d still find each other first, of course, and you’d try to seize the throne at some point for sure.”

9. Short Shorts and Knee-Highs (Beadick, NMTD/Lolilo, post-canon)

Beatrice finds her boyfriend lounging on the little loveseat in their hotel room, his head propped up on one couch arm. Ben is channel surfing with the tv volume off, clearly lost in the kind of enjoyable boredom you only experience on holiday. His body is too long for the shitty little hotel couch, legs dangling over the edge of the far armrest. He looks up and smiles as she walks in.

10. A Shower of Sparks (Malina, Shadow and Bone)

From the moment she lays eyes on Mal in the woods, Alina feels that she can breathe again.

Being in the Little Palace was like stuffing herself into a smaller and smaller box every day, despite the good friends she’d made there and the rush of using her powers. She shoves aside the shame of having been fooled and toyed with; there’s no time for that now. Now she’s free, under the open sky, with her favorite person in the world by her side again. With her powers released and her hand in Mal’s, she feels better than she has in a long time, maybe ever.

Fic Origin Story

Ooh, fun! Thanks for the tag @rmd-writes!

What was your first fandom (reading and/or writing)?

Xena: Warrior Princess, reading and writing. Back when new episodes were originally airing on TV. So yeah, I'm that old.

What was the first story you ever wrote (even if it was never posted) and what made you decide to write it?

Oh man I wish I knew exactly. It was a Xena fic for sure, and it would have been Gabrielle/Joxer because apparently I love hopeless cases just wanted my favorite pathetic man to be happy, the poor guy. Fortunately for me, the internet does forget some things, particularly when the fics are only published on a personal website that no longer exists.

What's a piece of advice you would give to your younger fic-writing self?

Don't stop writing! After Xena, I fell out of fandom until the LOTR movies came out, and even then I didn't read or write fic for a bunch more years. Given how utterly compelling I find writing stories now, I wonder what would have happened if I'd never stopped. Possibly I'd just have a lot more embarrassing stories to my name.

What's an early fandom interaction that stuck with you (be it a nice comment, a friend you made, a fic that got a lot of feedback etc.)?

Honestly my very first fan community, the mailing list of Xena fans I belonged to, really shaped my relationship with fandom. Just having that community of like-minded people in the very early days of the internet, connecting with people from around the world... I'm pretty sure my teenage self wouldn't be able to fathom the kinds of things that would be possible with things like tumblr and discord and the fan communities now.

Post a sentence or two from one of your older fics, and a sentence or two from a newer one (if you want).

I have to say, dredging up my first fics even from when I re-started writing in 2018 was kind of painful. My writing has improved a lot. Anyway, from one of those, It's Code (Westworld, Elsie/Ashley):

She tensed up instinctively; nothing in her code had told her to expect this. There were some aspects of Elsie’s personality and relationships that Bernard only guessed at, but she was pretty sure she had never been a hugger, and she didn’t think her and Stubbs had been on hugging terms. Certainly not a hug like this, like he was holding on for dear life, like he never wanted to let her go again.

And from my most recent published fic, FBI AU feat. stripper!Henry, All for a Taste of the Honey (RWRB, Alex/Henry)

Unfortunately, that plan is destined to fail. Somehow it hadn’t occurred to Alex that Henry’s path toward Vega would bring him by where Alex is sitting until a large hand slides over the shoulder of his jacket and a low voice, close to his ear, says, “You’re going to blow both our covers if you keep glaring at people I’m dancing for like you’re intending to murder them.”

Always. Unless they're stupid comments or comments i just can't with. I love responding to comments. I've had soo many lengthy conversations in the comments with some good pals. I don't mind talking in the comment section of my fics as long as they're good conversations and not mean.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

uhhh *goes to search* I guess Pluviophile? I don't write many angsty endings. Although there is this wip fic which absolutely destroys the characters. Can't wait for that.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written? 

I don't write 'em. But I want to sometime in the future. Oh wait, unless you count my wattpad fics. I wrote an (incomplete) fic about dick and wally and shuri and peter meeting and nearly destroying the multiverse together with vines and crack humor. I actually liked the plot I did not like my author's notes. I was cringy back then. Genius, but cringy.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Three or four. I forget. They either insulted my characterization or got way too emotional for something that is fictional.

Do you write smut? If so what kind? 

I don't.

Yes. *sigh* My wattpad one. On wordpress i think? Idk. Don't really care. But I would if any were stolen now on ao3. I will be pissed.

No, but I would love to!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? 

Yes! With Vibey I'm currently working on a tim getting kidnapped fic and in some future a DEH batboys AU. With Sprite we're doing one (or maybe two) of one of her series. With Tristi I did At The Drop Of A Hat and hopefully another in the future. With Cyg, I've done Capture, Grok and 4 Times Jason Hid His Trauma + 1 Time Tim Helped Him.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

I don't ship. I used to. Lots and lots. When times were simpler. But rn, my only ship is from a small but an absolutely awesome Muslim fiction book called Love From A To Z. Love those two.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? 

Lemme look. Okay, there's a whole document inspired by this fic called Living Dead Boy by Terranpheum, and there are some good moments I planned, but I abandoned it cuz I noticed that I didn't actually have a plot and it was just little moments.

What are your writing strengths?

Plot, ideas, outlines, dialogue, emotional rollercoasters, little bits of casefics, humor, angst, family fluff. Yeah. Oh and semicolons. Just a bit. And when I actually try, descriptions. But I have to be in a specific mood and the wind has to behave a certain way for that to happen.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Action and fight scenes. I had to employ Cyg's beta help for that. Torture I think. I want to get better at writing torture. Angst. It is both my strength and weakness.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Absolutely yes. I'm starting to use it at every chance I can. The next fic is gonna have some good ones. I'm so into it that I gave Sprite entire lessons on Arabic words and phrases. She can attest to that.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

DC. The fic's roaming around on tumblr here somewhere.

A published one? My School's Local Mafia Boss. Because I've just... it's my first series. It's been going on for a year. I've made so many good friends in the comment sections and on other platforms and... some really really close friends. Who are just... so awesome. I can't describe /srs

1. "what if final fantasy x but with the magnus archives characters" aka the result of miri asking 'i had a mental image of jon doing the Sending and where's my jonmartin ffx au' aka clutching a map of dreams, the fic that has taken up the better part of the past 2 yrs and 8 months of my life. if you like tma and you also like fantasy epics like lord of the rings this is the fic for you. (i mean this very literally because the final word count pretty much equals that of LOTR lmao)!! Martin is swept away by a mysterious kaiju death monster into a stagnant future where things have gone Horribly Wrong and crosses paths with Jon who is a summoner tasked to go on a pilgrimage to somehow calm the aforementioned kaiju death monster. JRPG adventures, the world's saddest hiking trip, slowburn romance, found family and MANY revelations about why the world is the way it is ensue, also featuring the author wrestling with the concepts of sacrifice and responsibility and blame and where those all intersect with The Greater Good(tm) and how people's intent to do good or to atone for real or imagined wrongs can be manipulated by others and twisted to other purposes. there are only 6 updates to go until the fic is over so now is a good time to jump in and binge it. if u wanna [ eyes emoji ] honestly this is the first time i've even attempted to write something this long let alone FINISHED it and if i do say so myself i did a good job making sure that the plot made sense and that all the foreshadowing and callbacks/call forwards paid off. i also managed to fit SO MANY tma character cameos in there and some nice parallels to tma canon events as well as expanding on the FFX lore itself so like. im Very Proud of this one haha

2. the variant of soft hanahaki as envisioned by isa and myself and a few of our other friends back on plurk has lived in my brain rent-free for years and so of course i was going to inflict it on jon and martin. milk vetch is a short fic that takes place in the middle of TMA season 3, in a world where unspoken love (whether that be romantic, platonic, or otherwise) causes you to cough up (mostly harmless) flowers until you get over yourself and tell whoever it is that you love them. i had a LOT of fun with jon's POV in this one, his exhaustion and self-deprecation, and i also had a LOT of fun with the concept of the Beholding dropping a dictionary of flower symbolism into his head whenever he so much as looks at a hanahaki flower. it was also interesting to explore like... the psychology/reasoning behind NOT telling someone you love them even when the evidence is Right There, just going full magic realism with it all.

3. not to have never been is a fic taking place in the 13th doctor era sunless skies au that i've been building with kite for about a year and a half! 13 is a sky-captain, the fam are her officers, and this fic is about them getting caught in a weft of unravelling time and struggling to get Out without dying or losing themselves. i'm rly proud of this one because i managed to mix the episodic nature of a bottle episode of dr who (think 42 or Tsuranga) with the Sunless Skies ambience, and switching between 5 different 3rd-person limited POVs really let me play with allowing the voice of the character to permeate the narration which is a LOT of fun. i'm also proud of a couple of the cool things i managed to do with the structure here (having an Ice section followed by a Fire section and then a Dark section followed by a Light section) and some of the hints i laid down for the backstory of a few of the characters...

i actually only have 1 more of my fics to rec for this LMAO and it is still unfinished BUT in the spirit of the meme i'm gonna rec it anyway bc WIPs are still worth reading:

4. spydoc the locked tomb au, aka the result of me watching the power of the doctor last year and immediately losing my mind over the fact that dhawan!master basically reinvented lyctorhood. spydoc are a necro-cav pair from the Fifth House and this tragedy is going exactly where you think it is going (also featuring me straining the torvic affair thru a 13-shaped sieve and then re-straining it thru a tlt-shaped sieve, state-sanctioned codependency, and canon-typical memes, ruth!doctor and yaz are also going to feature when i get back to writing this thing). if you, too, are haunted by all the ways dhawan!master ends up emulating + recreating all of the worst excesses of gallifrey's founders despite the fact that he despises them so much and love trainwrecks as much as i do then u should read this and yell at me to finish it

What was first story you ever wrote.

My main ship was Lance/Chris (Trickyfish), so it was most likely one for them. I wrote some Justin/Chris (Timbertrick) and Justin/Lance (Lamblove) too. I was 12 and everything I wrote was basically crack-fic or dark-fic where people were dying and shit. It was awful.

What's a piece of advice you would give your younger fic writing self?

Everything doesn't have to be devastating to be interesting. You can write something with a happy ending and it can still be interesting. But also, keep writing, because you'll get better.

Back in the Merlin, Legend of the Seeker, Lord of the Rings days I met this one Australian graphic artist who was super sweet and made a TON of stuff for me. She did all the banner work for us in the Merlin Slash Awards (which I ran), made us little banners when we participated in the fun little team contests for Disney, LotS, and LotR AND made me banners for my LiveJournal accounts. Just unbelievably kind and I am so sad that we fell out of touch.

The one amazing thing that really blew me away was the cover art she made me for my first multi-chapter long fic, Unsuitable, for the Merlin fandom. She's soooo talented and I still think about her.

My first Sterek (and TW) fic, Be the Overflow

“A guy like you? That’s a load of bullshit and you know it. Erica said she had a crush on you for quite a while and you never even noticed her until she turned. For someone who knows what it feels like, Stiles, you sure are a huge fucking hypocrite. There are plenty of people who--” but Derek didn’t finish that sentence. Whatever it was he was about to say, he no longer wanted to say it.

“People who what? Who want to be my friend? Who want to laugh at my jokes but make out with the guy who’s hotter and a lot more mysterious? Someone more like Scott? Yeah, I know all about that, Derek, and I’d rather you didn’t call me a hypocrite before having all the facts, alright? How’s about we all just shut the hell up and stop talking about my non-existent love life because that would be really fucking swell right about now,” Stiles spat with a bit more venom than even he knew he possessed. He looked back down at the pipe and the rope and decided the task definitely needed his undivided attention now.

“You are completely full of it. You’re going to keep blaming other people for the fact that you can’t see the things that are right in front of your own goddamn face, so you know what? You deserve what you get, Stiles.” There was a hardness in Derek’s voice that Stiles couldn’t really place.

The Teen Malex AU, The Answer is Always "Okay."

Michael seemed better when Alex glanced up again. “Guerin… you wanna tell me what the fuck just happened?” Alex held up his wrist to indicate.

“I don’t - I don’t even know how to do that,” Michael said. He was afraid. Terrified, even. Alex couldn’t just see it on his face, though—it was something viscous seeping into his veins from inside Michael. He could feel it.

Alex stood up, moving the short distance across the shed. “Oh-okay, Guerin, you need to start talking. I know you’re freaked out or whatever, but so am I.”

Michael blinked and looked up at Alex as though he just realized he was there. “Oh shit.”

“Yeah, oh shit.” Alex rolled his eyes. “Rationally, I understand that my wrist is fixed. I get that you did something. So what I’m sorta gonna need you to fill me in on is how the fuck that is.”

The five great knights, Le'mer, Hegimole, Isma, Dryya, And Ogrim.

In your opinion, Which of them would be the best parent? (My money is on Ogrim, But you can surprise me)

Personally I think Ogrim, Isma, and Dryya would be really good parents, but I'll add Le'mer to the list because why not. I don't remember much about Hegimole, otherwise this would be a full list of the five great knights and how they would parent.

Ogrim seems like he'd be a really caring and understanding parent. Like he'd be there for you, and you could talk to him about anything. He'd try his damndest to help as well.

I think Isma would be a good parent because she'd also probably care for you really well. She'd grow plants to make into like sleepy time tea if you can't sleep. She'd help you talk through your feelings while gardening.

Dryya would be a super protective parent. If you were being bullied she would personally go fight the kid for you. If you were hurt in a fight she'd bandage you up and promise to teach you how to fight, for when she isn't in the area. She'd bring you little goodies that make you happy when you're sad.

Le'mer would be a really calm parent, and she'd be quiet too. She'd be a really good listener, especially if you didn't know how to word how you felt about something. I think she'd bake for you and would be really damn good at it. She'd also probably make a /lot/ of tea as she finds it calming. She'd teach you to meditate as well.

Prompt time!

"Hornet had a new "Friend" or so she called it, At first the wyrm assumed this was just some imaginary friend and expressed no concern

But then, What young hornet drew on a piece of paper, and showed to the pale king, Claiming it to be her imaginary friend, Confirmed his worst fears"

This is gonna be filled with headcanons, so just a heads up!

The Pale King wasn't worried at first, but when she started drawing, that's when his concerns began. Hornet had ranted for hours about her imaginary friend in the shadows, their eight glowing eyes, and an almost protective feeling around her when she'd see them. When the Pale King asked her to draw them, he realized who it was long before she finished the drawing. The four arms, the pure white eyes that faintly glowed (not so faintly in the drawing, but he knew what was intended), the horns, and the vagueness of their appearance, the Pale King knew exactly who this was.

When Hornet finished her drawing, she held it up proudly towards a rather prominent shadow in the room. If the Pale King focused on it, he could have swore he saw the faint shape of eight glowing eyes. He dismissed Hornet from the office, and put away the different coloured inks. At least so far the Shade Lord wasn't causing problems for him, although this could be considered a problem.

This plays into an au of mine where the name of "Vessel" is quite literal, and they are vessels for the Shade Lord. Other gods have vessels as well, but they are frequently called other things (i.e. Grimmchild)

a friend reminded me about the Broken Vessel/Lost Kin fights and im sad. those fights are, so far in my playthrough, the most emotion filled fights and memorable. they're so sad because you can see the progression of the Radiance's hold over them. anyone else just kinda... sad when you think about those fights?

Hi! Wanted to ask your thoughts on LOTR/Hobbit AU with Olli and Aleksi ☺

Hiiiii!! Little Hobbit men!!!!! 🥺

I see them starring a slice-of-life kinda fic as neighbours, both living in their small hobbit houses next to each other in Hobbiton 🥺

Unlike most hobbits, they're fond of adventures, alas life in the Shire is quite calm and quiet

So they have to settle for cookouts in the backyard (yes, they have a shared backyard; Olli didn't mean to cut down the entire hedgerow, but they soon figured out they like it better that way)

In the evening they pass the pipe around and Aleksi sings while Olli plays the strange string instrument he found by the side of the road. It must have fallen off a bypasser's carriage.. Who could ever be so careless? 🙄

Sometimes their little Hobbit neighbours join them, and together they like to bother the grumpy one called Santeri who lives on the opposite side of Hobbiton (not by a coincidence)

(He loves them, really, but they tend to drink all his mead)

They barely make a living as potato growers, but as long as they have each other and fun doing it, it's worth it 🥔🌱

They boil 'em, they smash 'em, they stick 'em in a stew!

And every Sunday they have roast potatoes together 🥺

Eventually Aleksi realises he wants to have roast potatoes with Olli every Sunday..

One day they're adventuring at the huge field in the west and Olli nearly bursts with happiness when Aleksi makes him a flower crown 🥰

It's Aleksi's way to propose 🌺

(Rings have been widely unpopular since that one small incident)

The wedding party is held at their favourite tavern and the other guys are the best(hobbit)men, dressed in their cute little vests (and Joel insisted on cool cloaks, otherwise he wasn't gonna do it)

(He would have though, but he really wanted a cloak)

Someone gives them a pony as a wedding gift 🐴 💝
