So, it’s time that we discuss GO2 ending and why I think Metatron has ASSURED the success of the INEFFABLE PLAN a.k.a, the second coming. (Or has he?)
So first things first: the obvious.
After 6.000 years together on earth, we have established, with any trace of doubt that Crowley and Aziraphale LOVE EACH OTHER.
We’ve also learned that Demons have morals (by Crowley refusing to destroy everything Job holds dear). And that Angels can be TEMPTED (by Aziraphale accepting the food and lying not only to the archangels but to the SUPREME archangel, that those were Job’s new kids).
So, that brings us to the declaration.
Tumblr media
Crowley it’s trying so hard to make Aziraphale see that he loves him, completely and unapologetically. That they are more than Heaven and Hell, they are an US.
During that speech, we see Aziraphale very conflicted. He jumps from happy to confused, to sad and angry. He even forcefully pleads Crowley to accept going to heaven with him, using every word that he knows works, in hopes to change his mind (He was desperate when he blared that “I NEED YOU”).
But Crowley doesn't yield, he's still trying to make Aziraphale realize he's wrong for choosing Heaven over them. Which brings me to this dialogue:
C: “Listen, do you hear that”  A: “I don't hear anything”  C: “That's the point, no nightingales”. “You idiot, we could have been US”
Tumblr media
At that exact moment, Aziraphale looks away from temptation, because let's be clear, Crowley IS TEMPTING HIM. But when Crowley sees that words won't reach him, he launches into a desperate kiss, pouring all his heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When they brake apart, Aziraphale looks distressed, almost on the brink of tears. He is fighting too many emotions within himself and you can see a split moment when he almost says yes to Crowley, but instead, he resisted temptation by saying “I forgive you”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But why you ask? Why is Aziraphale trying so hard to resist Crowley's temptation? Simple: Metatron.
Metatron used his celestial powers of conviction on Aziraphale by using the coffee as a ploy for his manipulations, but not by spiking it. Metatron went to earth with one simple plan in mind: Make Aziraphale convince Crowley to convert into an Angel or break them apart.
When Metatron arrived, Aziraphale was clearly uncomfortable with his presence and made quite clear that he had no intention of hearing him out, “I don’t believe there’s anything left to be said. I’ve made my position quite clear.” but then, everything changed with this conversation:
A: “You brought me a coffee?” M: ”Are you going to take it?” A: ”Shal I…?” M: “Drink it? Of course. I’ve ingested things in my time, you know.“ A: “It’s …Oh, it’s very nice”.  M: “Yes, I should jolly well hope so”
This for me, it’s the utmost form of manipulation from Metatron. The coffee represents an olive branch, offered as a ruse for Aziraphale to completely trust him and let his guard down, by implying that he is not so righteous himself and also enjoys the guilty pleasures that humankind has to offer (let's remember that Angels do not require eating for sustenance, so when Aziraphale does it, it's simply for the pleasure of it. Something viewed as a lack of strong morals for an Angel). Metatron even reinforced this by smiling at him, knowingly.
Tumblr media
But he is clearly FAKING THIS, because the second Aziraphale can't see him, he looks at Crowley with utmost disgust. (I firmly believe that was Metatron who Crowley spoke to, about his suggestions on God's plan for the universe. Marking him a person non grata, and by default a Fallen Angel).(Also golden star to Metatron for not just getting Aziraphale out of his safe space (the bookshop), but also for getting him away from the person that could smell his bullshit speech from miles away: Crowley)
Tumblr media
The next bit of the conversation is filled with pleasantries towards Aziraphale, saying that he is the only Angel fitted for the position.“ You are a leader, you are honest and don’t just tell people what they what to hear” And while you might think that those are good things, they are actually the qualities that Metatron HATES about Aziraphale.
Metatron played Aziraphale expertly, making him VERY EXITED for the prospect of going back. Because If he can change how things are done in Heaven, that means that Heaven was not the problem but the people running it (and by default, making him a good Angel by lying just to save Job’s children). He could even make space for someone like Crowley, who is neither good nor bad. In other words, Aziraphale intends to PAINT HEAVEN IN DIFFERENT SHADES OF GREY, so he and Crowley could be TOGETHER on the “right side”.
That’s why you can see how pained Aziraphale looked after Crowley left the bookshop and almost backtracked his decision. He didn't because his desire to fix things and create a just and truly good system is greater than Crowley's temptation.
(Aziraphale is saying: The system is unfair and I can change it. FOR YOU, FOR US. Whereas Crowley: The system works as intended. This is not a Bug, but a Feature. We should stay out of it, in OUR SIDE, TOGETHER).
Tumblr media
But why would Metatron, a supreme celestial being care about any of this? Because he FEARS THEM.
It was very early established that Demons and Angels are enemies and should not, under any circumstance dwell or interact with each other, because they are hereditary enemies. But what if that's not the real reason? What if Angels and Demons should not work together because they would become extremely powerful?
Through the ages, Crowley has been making miracles for Aziraphale and vice versa, but the first time that they perform a miracle TOGETHER, the Lazarus scale went bananas, saying that that magnitude of power could only be compared to a supreme archangel. And all that happened while they were trying to perform the tiniest of miracles. Imagine what they can achieve by truly joining forces.
TOGETHER as HEAVEN AND HELL, they have the power to tip the balance and frustrate what Metatron think is the ineffable plan.
So, with the second coming afoot, it’s only logical to eliminate that threat. Whether by transforming Crowley into an angel and getting reed off his Hell powers, or by removing Aziraphale from earth and by default, Crowley.
Metatron made a gamble and he thought he won, but he lost.
If we know anything about these characters it's that they could always rely on each other “I can always rely on you and you could always rely on me” The love and care that they share for each other it’s a crack on Metatron’s manipulations, that  will grow and shatter his plan. (At first, Aziraphale will truly believe that he is making a difference and that he can change Heaven like Metatron implied, but soon he will learn the truth: Heaven and Hell won't change unless forced to).
These two ARE THE INEFFABLE PLAN that God designed:
Bringing BALANCE INTO THE UNIVERSE by destroying Heaven and Hell, not their residents, but the institutions themselves. No more Heaven, no more Hell, just celestial beings going as far as they can with what they think is right.

To me, this is Crowley saying "I'm not playing the game where I rush back to you."
It was always a bit of a game. Crowley rushes in and throws apology words around. Aziraphale forgives him, and they move on from there fairly quickly.
To me, he's not standing by his car as a last hope. He's just not shying away from witnessing Aziraphale leaving. He's physically showing he'll keep the boundary he put up.
This isn't a game. There are no manipulations. There is no playful banter. He's just real.
He loves Aziraphale just as he is, and Crowley knows he deserves the same.

Here’s my receipts that ineffable bureaucracy will be canon this season
This snippet from a Gizmodo article
This clip of an interview with movieweb that seems to hint at Shelley having to act out an emotional relationship with someone
This part of an interview with Screenrant
Tumblr media
4. The fact that on the next question in the video, Shelley’s response is edited out of the Final Cut
5. Beelzebub being Gabriel’s emergency contact on Hell’s wanted poster
6. The Graveyard Scene (BTS and official screen cap from the trailer)
7. Gabriel getting harassed by flies in the last sneak peak and Beelzebub holding a fly in their poster. Possibly checking up on him, as others have speculated?
EDITED TO ADD MORE:
8. That one line from Gabe in the trailer
9. the mug that seems to represent Gabriel having a heart over it
10. Beelzebub’s Scene Partner?
11. This post Neil Gaiman reblogged back in 2019 saying that After Hours by The Velvet Underground was a perfect song for Beelzebub, and this post where he says he’s discreetly told us a lot about season 2. These are the lyrics btw.
In conclusion:

Gabriel not knowing the difference between the Divine plan and the Ineffable one suggests that he just assumes he knows what She wants because he's in charge. He's the archangel-fucking-Gabriel, after all.
So, in my mind, what happened between season 1 and 2 is that She decided to be hilarious and just punted him out of Heaven. Just to see how he and Heaven handle the ultimate curve-ball.

I'm going to put this out into the universe: given the apparent emphasis on records, and the whole Buddy Holly thing, I'm going to make a wildly farfetched guess that the last scene of season 2 will be Crowley and Aziraphale dancing to a song on vinyl in the bookshop, with a bit of lead-in where they wait to see if it plays "Everyday," but it of course plays what it's supposed to, whatever that may be.

Even more S2 speculations but.. "CLUE" edition! lol
Tumblr media
Don't forget that the entire point of the game/movie of "CLUE" is a "WHO DONE IT?" type mystery which we already know our fav Ineffable Husbands are trying to figure out the mystery of amnesiac/possibly human Gabriel... BUT...
Tumblr media
To start, I believe I read that sadly, Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell's actor, Michael Mckean, wasn't able to make a comeback this season but he WAS the hilarious "Mr. Green" character in the 1985 movie.
And his character in 2/3 of the alternate endings was being blackmailed for being a closeted gay government employee.
And in the real ending.. he was an undercover agent.
Take with that what you will *cough* lol ;)
Tumblr media
Then there's the big "love song" in the middle of the movie "Sh-Boom" by The Chords from 1954.
"Life could be a dream, Sh-boom, if I could take you to a paradise up above. If you will tell me I'm the only one that you love. Life could be a dream, sweetheart, hello, hello again. Sh-boom and hopin' we'll meet again, boom."
The lyrics alone give me hope and fear for what could happen between certain characters this upcoming season..
But it's highly likely we're going to hear this particular song at some point in season 2.
But here is another 1950's hit song about love that's taken too long to come to realization like Buddy Holly's 1957 hit, "Everyday" that they've been teasing us in the trailer/promos.
Tumblr media
The 1950's will definitely hold significance somehow..
Because between the 40's.. the Blitz.. church.. books.. wine date.. and the 60's.. the church heist.. the holy water thermos.. the "you go too fast for me"... sandwiched right between is the good ol' golden oldies of the 50's! ;)
Tumblr media
Overall, I don't think we're going to get alternate endings like the movie per-say but maybe focus more on the "who done it? with what? and where?" type of fun mystery on our hands.
You can't trust anyone this season! Everyone's a suspect!
Tumblr media
And if the apocalypse was really just a "red herring" as they say.. someone is doing all of this as a distraction to something bigger to come.. some kind of ineffable long drawn out plan that's been in the works probably as far back as the Fall or earlier perhaps..
And a certain arch angel and demon lord.. were trying their best to go against this unknow ineffable plan to follow the "Great Plan" last season.. and we know one loses their memory and the other loses their original corporation in this upcoming season.. hmm..
Overall, remember.. Gabriel once said..
"God does not play games with the universe"
and.. what is "CLUE"? A GAME! I wonder... ;)
Sorry.. combining my favorite movie and tv show plus mystery.. it's what I love best! hmmm!
WAIT AND SEE, INDEED! \^0^/

Ok so listen to me. In episode 3 Azi goes to The Resurrectionist pub, connected to the flashback of Wee Morag etc. But I couldn't understand why Gabriel and Beelzebub had to meet in that pub, though.
Pause.
Now think of the words Gabriel says to Crowley in the bookshop:
“There will come a tempest, and darkness and great storms. And the dead will leave their graves and walk the earth once more. And there will be great lamentations. Everyday it’s getting closer.”
Everyday was there not only as a symbol of the relationship between Gabriel and Beelzebub, but as - and I’d say especially - an omen of the Second Coming (which Gabriel knew about and that’s why Metatron wanted to erase his memory). And this could - maybe - explain Azi’s face when he ears about the Second Coming from Metatron, he finally connects the clues, but for real this time.
Moreover, when Crowley says “Too late” (about Morag’s death) during the flashback, it mirrors the “It’s always too late” he says to Gabriel. I haven’t figure it out yet why, but the two statements are clearly linked.

The thing about the threat theory I haven't seen a lot of people talk about is how Aziraphale had the whole argument planned out in his head. He thought about how the Metatron would have talked to him and what he needed to say to Crowley to make it believable that he wanted - not needed - to go back to heaven.
If whether he actually thought that going to heaven was something Crowley would want or if he knew Crowley wouldn't accept it and heaven would not allow them to be together anyway, I'm not certain.
But what I do think is that Aziraphale had everything planned out, up until that kiss. He didn't predict such an open display of affection, a last cry for help begging him not to stay, and that broke his whole act.
He loses his script, because he gets lost in the moment, and he needs Crowley, and even if he planned for it to end with Crowley storming off now it just felt wrong.
And he hesitates. He almost goes back.
But then he remembers what this was all for. There is more at stake. Maybe he was threatened, we don't know. But it's something important enough for him not to do what every cell in his body (or whatever it is angels are made of) begs him to.
So he goes and he doesn't turn back.

No cause the /funniest/ thing about all this stuff is how they erase all the angels memories before they cast em out right?? I suppose it’s for the confidential informations and all that shit that could give hell an advantage and take over heaven and shit. But in s2e6 we see Crowley barge into heaven like he owns it and THEN he accessed the top secret files of heaven. With the very exact explanation of “I wasn’t always a demon yk I was an angel once and they never change their passwords”
Doesn’t. Doesn’t this seem very odd tho?? Brother doesn’t even remember ANYONE from his time in heaven. He only knows he did something and went somewhere but doesn’t remember who he did it with right??? But THEN he goes And types the fucking password to one of the most secured and secretive and top most password and /even gets in cause they don’t change passwords/. Like. What’s even happening here

I don’t know how much belief I’m willing to put in the Crowley lost his Angel memories theory (it has merit but I want to read more about it first), but I will say there is something interesting about the both seasons opening with Aziraphale introducing himself to Crowley.
That being said I saw a theory on TikTok that Aziraphale’s memories of earth were going to be erased as part of his promotion. Again, I’m not sure how likely that will be or if I really believe they would do that.
But now, after hearing those theories, my one fear of season 3 is now the first episode starting with Crowley introducing himself to the supreme archangel, Aziraphale.
And honestly, I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight

Speculation time but I think Aziraphale and Crowley will argue over what to do about Muriel, with one of them wanting to get her back to heaven asap and the other feeling bad for her when they discover what she’s been doing for 6000 years (filing) and or that heaven has been cruel to her for being different the way they were to Aziraphale (and of course Crowley too)

Exorcising some musings from Good Omens season 2
I might be in the minority but I liked the finale. It'd be different if I wasn't positive that these two are going to get their happy ending, either in a 3rd season or a book, but since I am certain of that, I'm looking at the finale as part of the story not the end of it. As far as storytelling goes, if this is heading where I think it is, I'm happy for it.
I think Aziraphale was far more in the wrong in the last episode and will have to apologize which, ideally, will include that dance, but I also think he was being true to his character. Aziraphale still has to overcome the naivety he has for heaven and it being "good". I think he really believed he would be able to fix everything, Crowley included and the two of them could be happy. His error is thinking Crowley needs fixing.
I absolutely believe Metatron was manipulating Aziraphale in order to separate the two of them because of the threat they pose. Not just because they helped thwart the first apocalypse or that they, again, are in the center of another crisis heaven was facing but because that tiny miracle they thought they were preforming was more powerful than anything heaven or hell has ever seen. My theory is the magic or miracles they can perform together is terrifying to the powers that be because it not only is using the forces of light AND the forces of dark but also has the power or love. That real, deep love that no one on either side can understand. Maybe God but I'm not sure she's in control anymore.
I realize that Gabriel & Beelzebub were also an angel and demon in love and not considered a threat but I don't think the love those two professed for each other is comparable to Aziraphale & Crowley. It's a love between two beings who don’t really know what love is. It's like comparing the love between a couple of elementary school children who decided at recess to be boyfriend and girlfriend to the love of a happily married couple celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, only times that by 100. I also don't necessarily think those two were allowed their happy ending. We could find out later they were just allowed to leave the bookshop as part of a bigger plan to get Aziraphale to accept Metatron's offer.
The last little musing is just to say how amazed I am at the talent in this fandom. A lot of you artists have been blowing my mind for the past week and I’m looking forward to seeing what fics you guys come up with while we wait for the story to continue.

Ok so I just rewatched ep6 entirely. I'm 90% sure Zira is lying about what the Metatron told him. It’s obvious. And Crowley was too emotional to see it.
BUT I have much more hope that they'll see each other again very soon because I'm sure Crowley understood with the last look Zira gave him that something was wrong. They know each other by heart, there is no way they'll not understand their plans.
I think the coffee is just the representation of "life" meaning letting Zira live in heaven, and not drinking it was "death" meaning erasing Zira and Crowley’s lives from existence.
And maybe the Metatron actually threatened Zira off the flashbacks.
Zira definitely didn't wanted to go, but he had to, and he definitely wanted to tell Crowley that he loved him too. I do not believe in the drug theory anymore. It's just Zira being threatened once again, and him wanting to protect Crowley, and he knows he messed up, and he believes he can fix things.
Sorry this is a bit of a messy post.

Aziracrow, Gabriel, and The Metatron
So, I finished watching Good Omens season 2 yesterday for the third time and took a day off today for things to percolate, and percolate they have. These thoughts may not make sense and they almost certainly won't be right, but humour me.
Let's start with Gabriel, shall we? At the end of season 1 we have him yelling "shut your stupid mouth and die" to Aziraphale (who is actually Crowley at that time but we'll come back to that point in a moment). Why is he doing so? For going against Heaven and The Great Plan, joining with a demon, and stopping the war that would end the world.
Now, let's see what we learn at the end of season 2 about Gabriel: he says "nah" to a second Armageddon there by going against Heaven and The Great Plan and he is in love with Beelzebub (a demon). Sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it? What intruigues me so much about this is the fact that Aziraphale and Crowley witness it.
Let's go back to Crowley being in Aziraphale's place in Heaven. Crowley witnesses the cold cruelty the angels, but mainly Gabriel, show to his best (and only) friend while attempting to kill him. That, rightfully, makes him hate Gabriel quite a bit, and I don't judge him for a second for feeling that way. But he still caves and helps Aziraphale with Jim because Aziraphale is (seemingly) putting his whole existence at stake to help someone who wouldn't do the same.
Aziraphale is kind and willing to help people, he wants to do good because he believes that doing good is the just and right thing (even when it actually isn't) whereas Crowley goes what Aziraphale views as good and kind, but is actually the right and just thing. He doesn't mean to do good he just wants to do what's right and that's a big difference. But I digress.
While Crowley knows exactly what Gabriel said and did to (who he thought was) Aziraphale, Aziraphale himself doesn't actually know. From what we are shown, Crowley never told Aziraphale what exactly happened. Perhaps it's too hard for him to repeat to the one he cares most about, perhaps he simply doesn't wish to hurt Aziraphale by telling him, or perhaps it is something else entirely. Despite that, Crowley helps and even somewhat warms up to having Jim around.
Then he gets to witness why Gabriel is on Earth in the first place and is witness to the Gabriel and Beelzebub where they go off to be together outside of Heaven and Hell. He gets to witness the very thing he wants most. But that hope dangled in front of his face is futile and only serves to burn him in the end because The Metatron has other plans.
Personally, I am a fan of the theory that The Metatron is actively revising things in The Book of Life in season 2 (and there's a number of things that lead one to think as such) but if you don't think so, it's not important to my musings anyway. What we do know is that The Metatron shows contempt towards Crowley (and most probably all demons, but there seemed to be some Crowley-specific distaste that I noticed) and I feel that a number of things that occurred in season 2 could be The Metatron making moves to hurt Crowley in his weakest point: Aziraphale.
The Metatron denies Gabriel's decent into Hell because it doesn't make a "good story" and would seem like there is "an institutional problem" (which there every much is, but that's not the point) but in doing so, Gabriel escapes to Earth and makes his way to Aziraphale's shop. Which, after season 1, seems an odd thing, but after learning that Gabriel goes against Heaven and is in love with a demon, it makes a bit more sense. But still. Odd. And that all culminates in what I mentioned two paragraphs above: Crowley witnessing what he wants most.
Aziraphale also wants Crowley by his side, but unfortunately he still (somehow) has not realized just how toxic Heaven actually is. He's stuck missing what he had and wishing to go back to what he had. The Metatron gives him exactly what he wants, offering him a place in Heaven to come back to (a high power where he could "change things for the better") and he even tells him that he could get Crowley reinstated as an Angel and have him as his second in command. Something that, almost certainly, The Metatron knows Crowley would never agree to, which is exactly why he offers it and ultimately causes a major schism between Aziraphale and Crowley.
Crowley—after having watched Maggie and Nina (we're not getting into theories about them in this post, but things felt odd with them for me), putting in quite a bit of effort to make them fall in love to the point of him being quite invested in their love life, seeing Gabriel and Beelzebub, and then being told by Nina and Maggie to tell Aziraphale how he truly feels—is finally ready to confess what he thinks and feels and really wants. Afterall, they've spent most of 6000 years pretending they aren't a "group of the two of them." Unfortunately, the timing for that is just so off.
Aziraphale was just offered what, to him, is a dream. And he was offered that by The Metatron at exactly the same time that Nina and Maggie were talking with Crowley and giving him that final push. Cruel timing, no? So, Aziraphale comes in, full of excitement to the point that he straight up cuts off Crowley when he tries to say his thing. Even after him saying that Aziraphale should just listen while he talks because if he doesn't start now, he may never say it. Aziraphale cuts him off, telling him to "hold that thought" because he is too excited about the offer given to him that he's blinded by it. Aziraphale is practically high on it, he was given exactly what he wanted. But it's not what Crowley wants and Aziraphale is too blinded to see that or see why Crowley would never want to go back to heaven.
I saw a post (don't recall what one) that talked about how this moment probably stems from Aziraphale's view that Crowley being cast out from Heaven was wrong, and so in bringing him back that is just and right and good. He wants to fix it. But Crowley sees Heaven for what it is and can't ever go back, not even for Aziraphale. Which is what makes this schism so painful. They were both shown/offered the thing they want most in life and came crashing together to only realize that their deepest desires are not compatible. While the core of them is to have the other by their side, it's the where that is the issue.
Aziraphale wants to go back and Crowley wants to go away. Crowley, in true desperation and raw despair, kisses Aziraphale. It's not a show of love or devotion, but rather a show of pain and brokenness. We can see how affected Crowley is shortly before he kisses Aziraphale. His voice is chokes up, he has to stop talking to keep from crying, he can't look into Aziraphale's eyes, he puts his glasses on so Aziraphale doesn't see him break and cry. He is crumbling, his foundation (his love and trust and bond with Aziraphale) is deteriorating beneath his feet and he is scrambling. The kiss says more than words ever could.
And Aziraphale says "I forgive you" because he doesn't know what else he can say, he can see it all crumbling away before his very eyes too, and he's scared. But that is the last thing that Crowley wants. He doesn't want his forgiveness, he just wants him. Full stop. Crowley witnesses things that have him hope and that hope was dashed, thrown into his face, and stepped on. Aziraphale even hopes that Crowley was the one who came in when it was The Metatron, because Crowley always always comes back. But, this time, it's just too much to ask for. We can see the little bit of hope and light in his eyes die as he resigns himself to go to Heaven. He pushes everything down and away because what's happening is a good thing, after all. He is going back to Heaven. And even then, Crowley is waiting and hoping that Aziraphale will come to him this time. He doesn't.
The Metatron gets exactly what he wants: Aziraphale in Heaven, Crowley somewhere else, and the pair of them no longer together. They are far too strong a pair and they are clearly a threat to Heaven and its plans. So, he makes moves to tear them apart in one of the most brutal ways.

The latest clip has me more convinced than ever that Hell is going to kidnap Crowley to force Aziraphale to hand over Gabriel. The enormity of the weight that would drop on Aziraphale is staggering, after Crowley, through his fear and anger and indignation at the idea of the two of them helping Gabriel, comes back to Aziraphale with "we'll do it together." For Crowley to set that aside out of love and concern for Aziraphale only to end up being threatened to force Aziraphale's hand would full-on light Aziraphale on fucking fire. (AND, I wonder if Gabriel will actually end up joining him on a rescue mission, following the restoration of his memories.)
