I heard that Googosh had different origins. Didn't know that story. I love how Iran is diverse. My country is diverse too. Not many people realise that it is a blessing

I don't know a lot about Iranian/Persian music, and I can't tell who is better suited for a learner, but I can mention some musicians I've enjoyed songs of: Mohsen Namjoo and Shahram Nazeri that you've already and very rightfly mentioned, Ali Azimi, Shadmehr Aghili, Amin Bani, Mohsen Yeganeh, Benyamin, Ali Abdolmaleki, Ebi, Hasan Shamaizadeh, Mohsen Chavoshi, Homayoun Shajarian, Andi, Fereydoon Foroughi, Farhad, Arash, Dariush, ... You've got a lifetime's worth of listening right there! :)

Making this list I realize I don't know any Iranian female singer beside Googoosh... Maybe people can suggest some in the replies? I do know a Tajik one named Zulaykho, though!
