Rating how comfortable all the beds in botw look
PART ONE
Tumblr media
Quick side note - tysm for all the likes, I appreciate it very much. To put how I feel right now into words, I would say that I feel like a silly little court jester who has done a silly little dance and now people like me
Shrine Of Resurrection
Tumblr media
2/10 - would NOT recommend
◍All that fog in the beginning of the game is just condensation
◍looks like it's made for one specific height
◍ain't nobody over 5'3 fitting in there
◍no way that water isn't FREEZING cold after 100 years
◍how am I supposed to be the Hero Of Hyrule™ if I'm sleeping in cold water??
Uh oh hero of Hyrule caught a cold better tell ganon to take a week off terrorising everyone ig
◍at least the coldness would wake me up
Old Man's House
Tumblr media
1/10 - would NEVER recommend
◍Lumpy "mattress"
◍the blanket looks so thin that an A4 piece of paper would be more warm
◍At least rhoam tried
But tbh the tried and fell like a cartoon character slipping on a comically placed banana peel
Hateno Village Bed
Tumblr media
8/10 - would recommend
◍Looks like it would keep me warm on a cold rainy day
◍Sturdy and reliable bedframe
◍Cute and fresh bedsheets
Link's House Bed
Tumblr media
5/10 - would recommend but at your own risk
◍cozy looking
◍Does not smell the best
You gotta think about how many times link has gone to bed without taking a bath (if he even does) and if he takes his dirty and/or sweaty armour off when he goes to bed (which I don't think he does tbh)
◍Cute bedsheets
◍Again, sturdy and reliable bedframe
◍Link might kill you if he catches you tho
Purah's Bed
Tumblr media
7/10 -would recommend if you're small
◍Extra bouncy and fluffy bedsheets
◍tbh I really like the frilly edges
◍comfy as hell
◍Will have Purah asking you to leave tho
Goron City Bed
Tumblr media
2/10 - wouldn't recommend
◍this looks like it's the root cause of back problems
◍yk that goron that has u get his ibuprofen bc of his back?? This is why
◍Can't smell bad cause the only thing u would be able to smell is ur burning nose hair
Tarrey Town Bed
Tumblr media
7/10 - would recommend
◍Comfortable? Yes. Cozy? Not so much
I know that they're the same word but in my mind, there's a clear distinction between comfortable and cozy
◍cool and fresh bedsheets
◍bed would move if you did something tho, so not sturdy or reliable, it's literally just stacked planks of wood

ancient sheikah tech is constantly on my mind... there's much i want to say about it that i haven't already but my mind is so SCRAMBLED. it's really fun to think about this stuff though. no other media has really made me this obsessed with its worldbuilding, i think (as flawed as it may be at times). i get so worked up over this lol !

Got four teams done and i think I'll keep working on that for now until I do more teams. I also need to think of some cloth accessories. But for now the stuff here is enough.

If I were to make the next Zelda game, what would I change?
Bring back underwater traversal and real Water Temples.
If you were to think about any iconic Zelda item that isn't a weapon, you'd most likely think about the hook/clawshot. I like that we can climb, but I miss the claw/hookshot. Personally, I'd have the Skyward Sword climbing mechanics where you can climb a little bit but not much, but make it so that the hook/clawshot can go on any surface. Even better is a double claw/hookshot so you can swing around like Spider-Man
Linkle. That's right, from the original Hyrule Warriors spin-off game. It would be cool if we got to choose to play as Link or Linkle at the beginning of the game. Make it so that Link can't get into Gerudo Town without a disguise like in Breath of the Wild, but also make it so Linkle can't get into Goron City without a disguise, that way it's even and there's no major advantage.
If Linkle can't be an option, I'd have Link be a different race than Hylian. Tears of the Kingdom already teased us with this concept with the Ancient Hero. Before TotK, the closest we got was Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask Link who thought he was a Kokiri but found out that he was in fact Hylian and also had ghost masks to shapeshift into other races. (Or you could also add Linkle as this race too. But I think that's a bit much)
20 hearts OR harder enemies. With BotW, Link had 30 hearts. In literally every other Zelda game he had 20. With 30 hearts, it was a decent change in normal mode, but in Master Mode, it made it essential. Enemies did more damage and evolved from their normal mode counterparts. In TotK, Link has 40 hearts and no Master Mode. The enemies do basically the same damage as in BotW's normal mode and sometimes even far less with the decayed-unfused weapons. So I would make the series go back to 20 hearts or have Master Mode as the default difficulty.
A new fast travel system. Look, shrines were a good idea. Especially for a fast travel system, but if we're getting rid of the 10-20 extra hearts how I would do it, we need something else. For this, let's turn to Skyrim for just a second. The fast travel system there is broken because every cave, tower, dungeon, etc. is a fast travel point, but let's look at the towns/cities and important landmarks: they're fast travel points once we discover them. So let's turn those things into fast travel points in this hypothetical Zelda game. Now, what about the less significant parts of the map? Well, a few train stations around the map with a train. I mean, trains are in the Zelda universe. Spirit Tracks literally is about that, so it wouldn't be a big deal. I had this idea back in 2021, and now even fucking Fortnite has a train around a map with a few train stations in random spots.
This one will make a bit more sense if you read my "If I were to make a Zelda game, what would I keep?" post. Heart Pieces/Stamina pieces. You could go the normal route with 4 pieces makes a full thing or go Twilight Princess style with 5 pieces makes a full thing. These would probably be given as quest rewards in quests that are Side Adventures rather than Main Quests or Side Quests. Side quests would give you rupees or a rare item and Main Quests will give you more story progression.
Bring back the "one-and-done" races like the Kokiri, Twili, Minish, Zonai, Lokomo, etc.

Late for the Update people Update!: Moving Forward part 2
Old wolfie revealed!!! Give Wild credits he doing his best to explain! I would love to see old wolfie and Twilight meet, and I am scared that once there will travel to Wild’s time, that old wolfie has already left…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Those are really good questions, but Wild doesn’t know the end of Twilight’s life just that he was the inspiration for the divine beasts and a spirit!
On the other side Twilight does know what the future outcome of his mentor will be, setting Twilight and Wild experiences with spirit guide animals in a similar position, but also so different.
Tumblr media
From what I understand from this panel, Wild knew the wolf from before he died, right? He didn’t want to meet him after coming back to live, so soon. Meaning old wolfie had already tried to help Wild before the calamity started.
I’m unsure about the grave part. Is Wild talking about his grave, the shrine of resurrection, or about Twilight’s grave thinking the wolf was an unrest full soul?
Tumblr media
Shout out to Sky for 1: keep doing his task of finding the portal.
2: believing in Fi’s treasure-seeking ability.
Tumblr media
(Skyward Sword reference, that one useless ability: Dowsing)
Love how all of them clown at Wild, best part there can because their have transformed at some point in the games!
Tumblr media
(Four: can turn Minish size with a Minish portal. (Minish Cap) Split into Four versions of himself with the Four Swords. (Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures)
Hyrule: Fairy thanks to a spell. (The Legend of Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link)
Legend: Bunny form when he enters the Dark World. (In LU lore twilight magic can cause the same effect) (A Link to the Past)
Octorok with a Ring (Oracle of Ages and Season)
Moblin with a Ring (Oracle of Ages and Season)
Like Like with a Ring (Oracle of Age and Season)
Subrosian with a Ring (Oracle of Ages and Season)
Mermaid with a suit (Oracle of Ages)
Wall painting with a bracelet (A Link between Worlds)
Extra: In Oracle of Ages, when in the Ancient Tomb if Link gets hit by a blue Stalfo he turns into a Baby)
Love Time in this panels so much. He wasn’t even listening to the conversation, just heard his alias and said nope.
He really was the youngest of his kokiri siblings, spacing out and living in his own head. I die for young sibling Time as a headcanon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Young man, you have no right to make this face! You impersonated a dead Goron hero! And having transformation items himself Wild had rather asked another person…
Tumblr media
(Sadly the Mask of Truth doesn’t work with Epona in Majora’s Mask…would had make this more funny…)

So one of my all-time favorite ways to play through botw is without teleporting. I adore the additional challenge it brings and it adds a certain level of planning ahead and requires you to become familiar with the layout of the world and locations of things.
I've been upset to find out through testing that a TRUE teleport-less run of totk is impossible thanks to the tutorial island. So I have yet to try a "partial" one to see if it's still as fun as in botw.
(EDIT: I've heard conflicting things saying it's possible to get to the fourth tutorial shrine without teleporting? I haven't tried it myself but when I say true run I also mean without exploits. If you need to do some precise exploit of the game to make a run like that work, it isn't really that fun for me anymore. I'll attempt a teleport-less tutorial island one day so we'll see)
I have, however, found a fun way to play totk through accident on my second playthrough.
Tumblr media
In botw, it is impossible to finish all 120 shrines without completing each of the four divine beasts. That's because there are exactly 4 shrines (1 in each region) that only become available after completing a shrine quest that does not unlock until after the respected divine beast is cleared.
(EDIT: Correction, there are exactly 2 shrines that are inaccessible without the completion of their respected divine beast. So all the shrines in the game can be completed with the minimum completion of 2 divine beasts. These shrines are the warbler's nest shrine in rito and the sand seal race shrine in gerudo. I mistakenly believed an npc for a shrine in goron did not spawn until after rudania and that the ceremonial trident did not spawn until after ruta (my searching skills are abyssmal and I missed both those things on my playthroughs prior to the beasts lol))
In totk, NONE of the shrines are dependent on the completion of a dungeon to access. All save for ONE SINGLE QUEST in Eldin that requires Yunobo's sage ability to access the shrine.
AND through the heart container granted after completing the tutorial, the heart containers granted after completion of the rito, gerudo, zora, and goron dungeons, and choosing the heart container granted by the bargainer statue beneath the great plateau... You can unlock the door to the underground dungeon without spending a single spirit orb.
Meaning that the only required story progression beats in totk to witness 80% of the (non-flashback) cutscenes with link as a silly little fucked up beast is getting the paraglider and getting up to the point in the goron story line to have Yunobo as a companion. Also meaning that every dungeon in totk can be completed without spending spirit orbs beyond the tutorial.
Playing through totk on a mission to get every shrine without upgrading health or stamina ONCE is more fun than I ever thought it would be. I had a BLAST. As someone who thinks the building mechanic is neat, but not really made for me, it made me interact with a mechanic that I never really enjoyed and find something to appreciate about it.
I also added the challenge of NOT upgrading my battery charge at all, which I would recommend if you're really wanting to make the game a bit harder.
AND it has the added bonus of Ancient Link staring into everyone's soul in every single cutscene.

So get out there and run around as a little beastie.

[BotW] Excuse Me While I Kiss this Guy (discontinued)
My SidLink fic, ‘Excuse Me While I Kiss this Guy’, has been getting a lot of attention on Ao3. It’s two parts, and I tried to write a part three from Link’s POV. That was back in 2018, and I’ve since moved five times. Needless to say, it never got past the WiP stage and the HTTYD fic, ‘Coming Down is the Hardest Thing‘ ate our brain instead. But in honour of Tears of the Kingdom, figured I’d put everything in roughly a chronological shape and post what got written. It’s not complete, prolly never will be, but hopefully it’ll give a couple chuckles. 2900 words. There is also now a bonus scene at the end of Excuse Me While I Kiss this Guy on Ao3.
+++ He didn’t mean to return to the Zora Domain.
Death Mountain lived up to its name, Vah Rudania had been freed from Ganon’s touch, and all Link wanted to do was go somewhere cooler where he could relax and recoup from climbing over a moving metal structure that was standing over gigantic pools of lava. So his duty done to the Gorons, he’d pulled out the Sheikah slate and hit the first shrine that looked near water.  Finding himself facing a handful of angry armed Zora guards had been a bit of a shock, but he’d honestly been too tired to care. Getting the helmet off and breathing the cool humid air of the Zora domain helped, more so when Sidon arrived. The shock on the prince’s face was comical. Even more so when he told his guards to stand down and offered Link a bath. +++ The kiss to the top of his head was unexpected, and made his chest feel light and fluffy. The gesture was as unexpected as it was confusing, but not in a bad way. Sidon’s explanation, his offer of kisses, just made it funnier. +++ Kisses. Link reminded himself as he struggled and fought his way through the shrine. Sidon believed in him, and when Link finished, he could see Sidon again. And get another kiss. +++ He didn’t know how to pay back Sidon for the encouragement. For the kisses. And he wanted to. He wanted to show Sidon how much it meant to Link. How much Sidon himself meant to Link. Armour was important to Zora. Milpha had made him armour. He was pretty sure there were books in the library that explained how to make armour. And armour would keep Sidon safe when Link wasn’t around. He could do that. He had gems and supplies from his travels all over Hyrule. He could make armour. +++ He couldn’t make armour. He could, but not armour for Sidon, who was much larger than Link, or the average anyone. The armour came out the same every time he tried, just the right size for him to fit in to. This was a problem. +++ “You’re making something entirely new.” Rhondson said, shaking her head over Link’s confusion. “You and your magic have seen jewellery and many kinds of armour and know what shapes to make things it has seen before. But to make something new, you’re going to have to do it the hard way.” Link looked down at his hands. Well, it wasn’t as if he didn’t have the time to learn something new.
+++ Zora made their armour from scales, but Link didn’t have scales. Which meant that he needed to get scales somehow. What had scales? Fish, of course. Zora, but he couldn’t ask them for scales, not for this. Dragons. He had a small collection of their scales and horns. Not enough for armour. Which meant that he’d have to get more.
“I’m gonna go fight a dragon.” Link declared, anticipation singing through his body.
“Link? Is everything okay?” Zelda looked worried as she peered into his face. “You’ve kind of got your crazy eyes on.”
He just grinned at her.
“Okay then.” Zelda sighed and shook her head. He knew that he worried her, that before the Calamity he’d been raised to be a knight, with all the genteel manners and stuff, but he didn’t remember any of that.
And really, it sounded completely boring and dull. He liked who he was now, he couldn’t go back to whatever he’d been before. Zelda had accepted that, but she still fussed at him. It was kind of... nice, in a strange way.
She kissed him on the cheek. “Go do your thing. Try not to come back all bloody.”
He appreciated the fact that she never referred to the castle as his home. It was hers, certainly. And while he didn’t mind staying here, it didn’t feel like home to him.
His heart called him elsewhere.
‘No promises.’ He agreed, kissing her cheek as well. Her kisses weren’t like Sidon’s. Still sweet, in a different way. Softer, for one thing. And not as varied, she liked to kiss and be kissed mostly on the cheek.
He liked Sidon’s kisses better. The feeling of rough scales on skin was more welcoming to him than that of soft Hylian skin. Kissing Zelda didn’t leave his heart fluttering and skin tingling and wanting more. +++ The dragon scales were too large and unwieldy to just make into armour. Especially for someone who was as streamlined as Sidon. Cutting them down with normal tools didn’t work, they shattered swords and shears alike. The only thing that seemed to be able to cut dragon scale was dragon scale itself. Link growled to himself, realising that this meant he needed to get more scales, some for the armour, some to use as tools. Which meant more time away from Sidon. He sighed. He could do it. +++ ‘Think it’ll work?’ Link signed, as Bazz looked contemplative, looking over the scales Link had harvested and started to cut into shapes based off the books and patterns he’d found.
“It should.” He agreed. “My biggest concern is what are you going to attach it to? You’re going for shock resistance, so metal is out, which means some sort of really heavy duty hide or cloth. If you use leather, you could boil it, making it harder and shape it, but I don’t know what would be thick enough.”
That was a problem. Monster hide might work, but he’d killed most of those.
And he wanted something for the shock resistance too. It was kind of worrisome that Zora couldn’t even touch shock arrows, leading Link having to collect them from the Lynel....
Link paused, looking up towards the tip of Shatterback Point. ‘Be right back.’ He signed, and took off running.
“Wait! No!” Bazz hissed. “Link! He’ll kill me if you come back dead!”
Link laughed as he jumped off a balcony, his hang-glider snapping open and catching the ocean breeze. The breeze wasn’t strong enough to get him all the way to the top, but it’d get him part way there.
+++
A few hours later, Link pulled the fresh Lynel hide out of his pack and set it in front of Bazz. ‘Think it’ll work?’
Bazz made a sound like he couldn’t decide if he was laughing or crying. “You’re certifiably nuts.” He said, shaking his head. “The two of you deserve each other. Yeah, I think that’ll work.”
Link tilted his head to the side, wondering what Bazz meant by that.
“We’ll have to sit down sometime with a pint or two and I’ll tell you some of the things our Prince has gotten up to in the past.” Bazz grinned, his sharp teeth glinting. “You heard about him being eaten by the Octorok and going up against Vah Ruta on his own? That’s nothing.”
Link grinned. He knew he liked Sidon for a reason. +++
“Link, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about your new habit of carving dragon scales during meetings.” Zelda’s lips pressed together in a disapproving line. “It’s scaring some of the Council.”
Link grimaced. It was about the only time that he sat still long enough to get any carving done, he was constantly interrupted otherwise. ‘You want me to stop?’ He offered. He’d just have to figure something else out.
“Oh good heavens, no!” She beamed at him. “Could you please sit next to Councillor Tyrol? We might be able to get some work done if he stops sharing his ‘hunting’ stories. He’s quite terrified of you, you know.”
+++ Zelda glanced around before tugging on Link’s arm and pulling him closer. She had a mischievous curve to her lips and he leaned in so no one else could overhear what she was saying. “Some of the Council thinks you’re dating a Gerudo woman.” She whispered, then covered her mouth with a hand to contain her laughter.
It made a certain amount of sense, he was in Gerudo town a lot. … He also wore the clothing a lot while coming back. Did they think that he was dating himself? Or someone else? He paused, eyes narrowing as he remembered the inquires to the Gerudo Chieftain's health. “Riju’s twelve.” He deadpanned. She may have been the steadfast leader of the fierce Gerudo, but she was also a kid who loved soft plushies, especially those of Sand Seals.
Zelda nodded with barely repressed glee. “I know that and you know that, but how many people here do you think have meet a real Gerudo in their lives? Much less know who the Gerudo chief is?”
That was a good point. They should probably fix that, get more of all the various tribes together more often. ‘Should I start mentioning Isha more?’ He offered.
She thought about it, then giggled. “You should invite her to the castle as a merchant.” Zelda grinned. “Plus, I’d like to meet her.”
+++ ‘You need a break.’ Link signed with a frown as he looked Zelda over. She looked kind of like she wanted to punch something then take a nap. “I can’t.” Zelda closed her eyes, looking frustrated. “There’s no where in the castle I can go that someone won’t find me with some sort of emergency. I feel like all I’m doing is putting out fires.”
Link pulled out a bomb and offered it to her. She stared at it for a moment, which he was starting to think was the default reaction to being offered a bomb. Although it wasn’t like he offered them to just anyone, but Sidon always looked so surprised and confused by the bombs.
Zelda looked like she was contemplating using it.
“No.” She shook her head, pushing the bomb away. “Thank you, but no. That’d just undo all the hard work we just finished constructing.” Which was a pretty good point. With a shrug, he put it away again. A thought hit, and he looked her up and down, silently measuring her with his eyes, a smirk growing.
“Link.” Zelda crossed her arms, turning her body away, looking uncomfortable ‘We’re almost the same height and size.’ Link grinned at her. He was a little broader in the shoulder, she a bit broader in the hip, but still about the same proportions. Well, given his lack of height.
“And?” Link bounced a little on the balls of his feet, feeling pleased with himself. ‘That means you should fit my clothes.’ He explained. ‘And I should fit yours.’ She stared at him for a moment, her mouth agape. “There’s no way it’d work. I mean, you don’t talk, that’s easy for me to mimic, but the ruse would be over as soon as you opened your mouth.”
That was easy enough too. He held up a finger, silently motioning for patience, then rubbed his nose vigorously, until it was red, then coughed a couple of times. “I’m sick.” He rasped, trying to pitch his voice slightly higher. “I need to stay in bed.”
Then he fluttered his eyelashes at her and grinned.
Zelda gaped at him. “No.” She said, then immediately wavered. “I mean. No. It couldn’t possibly work.” He shrugged. ‘I need to finish carving some scales, I could do that while you go on a ride, get some fresh air. Wear the champion tunic, everything'll run as soon as they see you coming.’
Link could see her visibly waver. “Oh.” She glared at him, stamping her foot in irritation. “This is a horrible idea. Give me your tunic.” Link grinned and tapped the Sheikah Slate, switching clothing until he was wearing the Champion’s Tunic, pulling it off over his head and tossed it to her. Zelda wrinkled her nose, holding it away from her face.  “When was the last time you washed this?” He gave her a puzzled look back. He never washed any of his clothes, any rips, tears, burns, or other assorted damage were gone whenever he dismissed them and put them back on. “Nevermind.” She shook her head, pulling the tunic on. It was a little big on her in the shoulders, but nothing too obvious. He pulled off his pants and handed them to her as well, before wandering over to her wardrobe and sorting through it before finding a long nightgown, pulling that over his head. This method of getting dressed was such a hassle, it was so much easier to get dressed via the Sheikah Slate. Less fabric to get tangled up in. “You’re hopeless.” Zelda informed him sounding amused and fond as he felt hands tug the fabric down over him. He gestured his thanks, smiling a bit to see her in his clothing. It was kind of strange, seeing her dressed like this. He reached up, undoing the pins in her hair, fingers quickly undoing the braids and messing up her sleek smooth strands. He could never get his hair nearly as soft and nice. The thought of if Sidon liked his hair, so different than the Zora’s scaled flickered through his mind, then he dismissed it. He was pretty sure that Sidon liked him, scales or no scales. Pretty sure. “Gah.” Zelda batted his hands away, stepping backwards out of reach before moving towards her vanity, checking her hair in the mirror. She made a face at seeing it so disordered, then grabbed a tie, pulling it back in a messy pony tail, then teasing the hair out on the sides of her face a bit. “What do you think?” She asked, looking up at him. Link walked over so they could see each other in the mirror. They looked disturbingly alike. They could almost be siblings, possibly even twins. He nodded, and she echoed the movement. “Okay.” She agreed. “This’ll work.” He gave her a thumbs up. +++ A knock on the door interrupted Link’s concentration and he growled in annoyance. He stood up, detouring long enough to grab a blanket from Zelda’s bed and tossed it over his head, wrapping it around himself like a cocoon before opening the door. “What?” He snapped, his voice low and rough. “n-Never mind.” Councillor Tyrol scurried off. Link huffed, shutting the door with a slam and went back to making smaller scales out of larger scales for armour. +++ “Got any clothing in red?” Bazz inquired, idly twirling his trident in one hand. It immediately put Link on edge, because there was something a little too casual sounding to the warrior’s tone.
‘No.’ Link signed, confused. Almost all of his clothing was blue, unless he took the time to dye it. ‘Why?’ “Could you get some?” Bazz asked. Link shrugged. He didn’t have any at hand, but it’d be easy enough to swing by the Hateno Village and talk to Sayge at the Kochi Dye Shop. He could spare five rupees for payment, and a few extra apples or spicy peppers he could use for red dye. ‘Yeah. Why?’
“The next time you come to see the Prince, you should wear something red.”
This was starting to sound really suspicious. ‘Anything specific I should wear?’
“Doesn’t matter. Just something bright red.” Bazz shook his head. “As a favour to me?” He asked, attempting to look as sweet and innocent as a kitten. It didn’t quite work.
Link did kind of owe Bazz for his help in making the armour, making sure it’d fit the prince and keeping it a secret from Sidon. “Okay.” He agreed. It was easy enough.
“Thanks.” Bazz gave him a bright grin, full of razor sharp teeth and Link wondered just what he’d gotten himself into.
++++
“Link! My Dear!” Link had just enough warning to brace himself before he was picked up and pressed against Sidon’s ginormous chest. “It is such a pleasure to see you!”
“Sidon!” Link wrapped his arms around Sidon, pressing as close as he could. Sidon smelled like he usually did, water and musk, something always made Link relax.
It meant safety, comfort, and laughter.
He kissed the nearest part of Sidon he could reach, his jaw just below the fin that framed his face and felt a small shiver run down Sidon’s frame.
Sidon eased his grip slightly, pulling back so he could look Link over. “It’s so good to see you healthy. No new scars?”
Link smiled and shook his head. Sidon beamed in delight, taking Link’s hand and kissing the palm. “I’m glad.”
Seriously, Sidon was the only person who worried if Link could take care of himself. Well, maybe other than Zelda, but she was more likely to laugh at him for it.
“Is this new?” Sidon asked, peering at Link’s shirt. It was just a basic tunic, but he’d dyed it the bright red of fresh chillies, as Bazz had requested.
Link shrugged. Honestly, he couldn’t remember where he’d picked the shirt up from.
“I like it!” Sidon beamed at him, and Link wondered how he could contain such joy in his face. “We match!”
… They did. He looked at the shirt against Sidon’s scales and realised that they did, the dye almost the same colour as Sidon. Anyone seeing them together would probably assume they were a matched set.
He didn’t know whether to be grateful or to strangle Bazz for his meddling, when Sidon barely set him down for the remainder of the day, almost always keeping in contact with Link. He also made a note to wear more red, if this was Sidon’s reaction.
-fin- -And that’s all folks.

“Everything okay?”
Time’s voice isn’t what Wild expects when he surfaces in the river. The fish in his teeth, still wriggling, means he can only nod. He bites a little harder as the scales slip.
The old man watches as he kicks to shore and drops more fish on the rocks. With a flash of blue, they disappear into the slate. They’ll stay in the same condition until he needs them; a bonus for fresh food on the road.
Wild keeps an eye on Time as he finds a flat rock and pulls out a knife. The fish in his mouth is finally transferred as he cuts off the head and quickly guts it. Another slice separates the filet from the spine and he carefully pulls it off, plucking stray bones.
“How did you catch the other fish?”
Right, Time is still watching. Well, he’s halfway through taking off the skin; not too much longer. “Bombs. Fastest way to fish.”
The old man pales, then looks faintly green. His jaw works, likely trying to decide if it’s worth chastising him about his methods. Wild doesn’t really care; it’s efficient and leaves less to chance.
Fish prepared, Wild pops a strip into his mouth and holds out another to Time. “Want some?”
“Raw?”
He shrugs. Lots of things can be eaten raw, depending on how desperate he is. Sometimes it’s not safe to build a fire to cook and he has run out of prepared meals before.
Time takes a piece, but clearly regrets it as soon as he bites down.
Wild snorts at his face, still working through the fish.
With effort, Time swallows. “I don’t think that’s for me. Try Wind next time.”
He doesn’t point out that Time wasn’t exactly invited in the first place; it’s nice to share when he can.
The old man watches the steady inhale of food and Wild can’t help the self-consciousness creeping along his back.
“Where’d you learn to prepare fish like that? Raw, I mean?”
“Lurelin village. They do some great things with fish and citrus.” He switches to signing as he eats. ‘If I saw fish, they were easy to catch on my journey.’ He pats the slate. ‘I just wish they weren’t so slimy.”
“I’d imagine so,” Time says faintly. He’s rolling a question around and Wild waits him out. He’s working on the second filet when Time says, “You learned to eat a lot of things on your journey.”
It’s a statement, but he nods anyway.
“Did you…always have enough to eat?” The old man asks like he doesn’t want to know the answer.
‘I got by.’ Food was…hard to come by, sometimes. He learned to stock up; to hoard every apple or mushroom to tide him over when food was scarce. The Gerudo desert once cost him all the food in his slate and he ran out before he got to the Great Fairy Fountain shrine to warp back. Coupled with near-constant sandstorms stalling the slate; it was a bad time.
When he first emerged from the shrine, everything was a question of edibility. The slate could identify ingredients but didn’t tell Wild how they should be prepared.
Time’s still frowning, but further comments are stalled as Hyrule wanders down the stone path with a wave. “We wondered where you two went.”
‘Fishing,’ Wild signs, considering the remains of his fish.
Time throws an arm around Hyrule as he approaches, letting the smaller hero lean into him. “Wild was telling me how he learned to prepare raw fish. Have you tried it before?”
“When we visited Wind’s time I did. The fish in my time aren’t…the best for eating.”
Hyrule may be bad at cooking, but he’s not a picky eater. Wild perks up at a possible ally. “What’s the strangest thing you’ve eaten?”
“Oh, um.” He’s embarrassed, shooting a darting look up at Time. “You know…lots of things.”
“Rocks, for me.”
“Rocks!” Time jerks, arm slipping off Hyrule’s shoulder. “Please tell me you’re joking.”
With a grin, Wild shakes his head. “The Gorons eat rock roast and, well…”
“This was after your amnesia, right?”
The champion stares Time dead in the eye and shakes his head.

you know what i just saw some more of that weird ass reward for getting all shrines in totk, and tbh im still so
what is that?? there are no dog like sentient species in this version of hyrule?? the most is the sonau themselves but they got no tails??? i dont think anything in this hyrule has a tail like that? and sonau legs are pretty normalish human too areant they? they dont even have proper claws, just veguely longer fingernails- i guess there are the statues in the underground that kinda look like it (they dont got tails either tho do they??) but like ,,, theres nothing you can learn about them right? its never mentioned or even hinted at despite there being so goddamm much of the sonau still just up and functioning- their lil "material deposits" in the depths arent even withered beyond some plants growing on them, all their 'tech' (isnt it just .. magic tho? where the mechanism actually? its usually just some stone animated by green swirlies ... but ill mention that in another post) just runs perfectly like it was made yesterday
where does that thing come from?? and its supposed to the the HERO FROM THE TAPESTRY???? huh????? and its decked out in sonau clothing head to toe with clear gerudo refs too?? that so weird bc youd feel like there would have been some mention of this, especially considering that that thing is on the tapestry and impa(was it her? or purah?) RECOGNIZES ITS THE HERO FROM THE TAPESTRY???? like, CASUALLY even?? like a well known fact ?? did i miss some big lore part somewhere that talked about that dog gerudo sonau thing?? and if its on the tapestry that means it wasnt that long ago really (i mean ... all the sonau shit is still pretty much fully intact so arguing that they came and went in the time between totks past and botws past isnt that plausible either imo ..??) o how come you never see anything from that and yet its somehow completely known for them, and you cannot tell me she saw the abstract version of the hero and then looked at that armor and went thats the same bc two colors veguely matched or what?!! also given that its fully clothed in sonau stuff .. like the arms are literally raurus bracelets .. thingies, but then the sonau where supposedly a complete and unknown mystery until it suddendly came all raining from the sky and revealing its been there and EVERYWHERE the whole time apparently? with the most we knew was some flimsyly made stereotypical barbaric armor set in faron in botw? which i guess is also fully undone by totk since it shares absolutely zero in desing to the 'actual' sonau stuff we got in totk
and if it where some sort of descendant from the mix of kids rauru and sonai kinda .. must have had (unless they did away with zeldas bloodline stuff too .. which .. why even call it zelda anymore at this point lol) then again, where did those features come from (like the tail and red hair, the strange googly eyes? is there a mix of goron in there too??) and how was it then not documented or seen anywhere else?? youd imagine the mutant kids of the first tragically dead king and queen of this hyrule would be known in some way .. that is assuming it was that, but given the weird features no other species has still is ... it just doesnt add up
(i had the awful thoguht for a second that it might supposed to mean the gerudo came from that but .. the gerudo are already there LITERALLY the 1:1 same as in the present, just like all the other species ... which is also disappointing as hell, like seriously? not even different feather colors for the rito? literally the same clothing for the gerudo as in botw but white with golden stuff instead?? some vaguely different zora features? idk ? anything? also the hero would never be gerudo, we know only evil comes from that *explodes*)
if its supposed to be a mystery then they absolutely failed in making it any interesting or intriguing but still something that feels like its part of the world, like botw was very good at giving you mysteries you wanted to talk and theorize about that still felt organic, harmonic with the world, but in totk its all either boring answers or just ... completely out of nowhere and just kinda stumps you (in a bad way)
*sighs* yet antoher ramble rant, this game could have had it all, it was right there on the plate in front of them all they needed to do is grasp at it, why wouldnt you ..
totk will never not frustrate me huh ಠ_ಠ

Self Aware Legend of Zelda (botw & totk timeline) some ideas of it.
NOTE: Self Aware AUs are Yandere by default! Please be aware of that.
Reader is the originator, the highest diety above even Hylia. They gave their life to create the goddesses and allow lives to be born. Your name is lost to time, but all know of you. Even the monsters and dark beings revered you. You didn't care of good nor evil. You found love to give to both. You stood for balance; life and death, the beginning and the end, eternity and nothingness. You were beyond reach of even the goddess.
Each race of Hyrule viewed you differently, all positive but they showed their love in different ways.
The Zora had a shrine deep underwater where they leave gems and jewelry. They pray for your continued love and promise that should the day comes you return that they will welcome you with open arms.
The Rito do not have a shrine nor do they leave offerings. Their form of offerings is in song and words. They preach of legends of your return. Of the love of the people reviving you to walk amongst them again.
The Goron have what is the largest most ornate shrine. Carefully crafted and carved, offerings of rock roast and spices things the Goron treasure. They often make plans on things to do with you ways to show off their strength.
The Gerudo have a modest shrine in size but it is made of various gems and gold. They leave offerings of practical things. Clothing, food, water, and weapons. They promise you protection when you return.
The Zonai are gone but they had believed you their ancestor. They made constructs in what they assumed was your image. Made promises of showing you the wonders they made.
You are just you. One of millions who played the games, who loved the characters and world deeply. You were no diety or magical being. But sometimes things happen and in your case you are pulled into the game. Your blood no longer red but golden ichor. Powers you never conceived growing and building inside of you.

Botw/Totk au where the Shrine of Resurrection was actually old Zonai technology that the Sheikah built over, but they forgot to turn the settings to Hylian before they put Link in it so the shrine is like "woah what a fucked up Zonai I need to fix this" and fucking. Takes a 100 years slowly turning Link into a zonai.
So when Link comes out literally no one clocks that they used to be the hero, because the hero was a Hylian and ??? Who is this??? A strange new species??? And also they have no problem getting into gerudo town because the gerudo have no basis for a male or female Zonai. It's like the Gorons, where they just say fuck it and let them anyway lol

It's rambling time
*CRAWLS OUTTA WELL WITH A COMEDICALLY LARGE BACKPACK FULL OF NOTES*
I love totk. Don't get me wrong. I love it. But HOLY HELL TO I WANNA STRANGLE WHO EVER THOUGHT 'HEY MAN LETS GET RID OF ALL THE SHEIKAH TECH OTHER THAN LIKE- TWO GUARDIANS' LIKE EXSQUEEZE ME?? MY BABIESSSS/HJ
But on a serious note, I hate the fact how not only Zelda's character development go backwards, it forced a very black and white view on Hyrule. Rauru and kingdom of Hyrule good, Ganondorf bad. Like. What??? EXSQUEEZE ME.
Okz sure, Ganondorf did murder Sonia and steal a secret stone, and attack Hyrule, but like. Let's just- also note this. If the gerudo have a similar story to the sheikah, the kingdom of Hyrule, aka Rauru forced their hand into surrender.
Though I do like the 'keep your loved ones close and your enemies closer' trope (waiting for the ship art/j)
Let me note here, I am rather young, and Botw is what introduced me into LOZ. So. I still have a lot to learn. Anyway! On ward! (Also warning spoilers for TOTK jsndhdbdbdbd)
*sits down on a grassy patch, unpacking bag*
So!! Oh brother where to I start. Let's start with Zelda first because oh my hylia does it hurt.
Ok.
So, Zelda finds out about Zonai and the thing under Hyrule castle, it's understandable that she would be curious! It was established that she was a curious person.
Anyway, she gets yeeted into the past with a TIME power?!? WHAT. I mean it would explain why it took so long for her light power to wake the fuck up, but still?? It feels so random and forced.
Also in BOTW she spends one HUNDRED years keeping a calamity from destroying hyrule, and now suddenly she can't do jack in TOTK?!? EXSQUEEZE ME. WHAT. SHE MAKES A DAGGER GO BACK IN TIME. wOw- link mastered the power in a day- (I'm sorry but I have so many link rambles)
I just MY BRAIN HURTS. also I just- what the fuck happened to the sheikah?!
Yeah we are talking about this now. Like- fuckers are forgotten by EVERYONE- what happened to the shrines?! OR THE GIANT ASS DIVINE BEASTS LIKE WHERE ARE YOU RUDANA- *SOBS* Oh yeah and let's not forget the fact the champions have been forgotten basically. And Sidon moved the statue of his dead sister to make a statue of link riding him. Don't take that out of context. Also how the fuck did they get rid of the lynel up the mountain like?! Even if link killed it for them it would come back every time- endless building there made it so it couldn't come back there-??? Didn't know monsters had manners. I just- UGH.
Ah yes back to the sheikah tech. Everyone, even the sheikah have forgotten it like bruh. Even if it was like- 8 years since BOTW still- they couldn't have suddenly found everything and got rid of the shrines???
Like- the yiga clan (yes fucks I am talking about them) the yiga clan giving up learning about the sheikah for the Zonai makes sense- because the yiga clan has the depth now- and, they didn't have as much *known* access to sheikah tech. But like- PURAH FOR EXAMPLE- WHY WOULD SHE FORGET ABOUT THE TECH SKDNDJHR- IDC HOW HOT YOU ARE IM MAD AT YOU FOR THAT!
Oh and *SIGHS* lemme talk about the sages. No no, not the ones WE know now, I mean the ones of past. I hate them. The only one I like is the one of the gorons because of that one line he says
Tumblr media
Me too buddy, me too/j
Anyway.
I wanna fucking murder these sages. Do they all share the same brain cell??? Other than you Mineru I like you.
Wait hold on that's meme potential. SOMEONE DRAW THE SAGES HAVING THE SAME BRAINCELL/HJ
But I just
I hate them.
So much.
Now let me talk about the best characters in TOTK. Besides kogha.
Farosh, Dinraal, and Naydra.
Dear golly I love these dragons. I vibe with them.
Now it's time for my personal favorite topic
THE YIGA CLAN
I love them. And. Yeah
Though I'm very sad about the missed potential for them. Also is it just me or is almost every yiga a dude..
Idk what to say. Just. I love them. And. Kogha better come back or I will cry/J he always comes back-(I'm sorry)
And the last topic of the evening
Link.
I have
Thoughts
Uhm
Ok less about link I love him but like the fact he's so chill about the fact he doesn't have a arm and now has the arm of a furry might say smt.
But at least in BOTW impa is like 'hey you sure your ready to take on what's next and save hyrule' but now it's like 'fucker go do this this and this and go look at the funny ass paintings on the ground' like. Damn ok. ;-;
I can't tell you how much I stalled playing totk. I had such a hard time finishing regional phenomenon. It just- wasn't fun. I knew what to expect, and what was going to happen. So. Yeah.
But I did really like Rito Village. And gorons town. They basically got addicted to drugs and I am ALL FOR IT (not drugs. Don't do drugs) but the Zora's felt... Boring. I mean they felt boring in botw but it got worse. Personally I thought the gerudo were the most boring in botw which is saying something because I got to sneak through the yiga hide out and Rob Kogha. But the zora felt- basic like. Yeah. At least everything else caused you damage or made things harder- the shroud made navigation hard, snow caused damage, the meat roast made conversion harder
But the zora? The sludge just- made you slower??? Idk man.
And omg. Do Sidon and yona make me mad. YEAH, HATE ME FOR IT SIDON FANS!! like people hate yona bc she's engaged to sidon. Personally I dislike them both. Like- Sidon lost the spark that made him- him! And yona- yona is just annoying. Like fuck off mipha copy.
And oh my hylia the MUCKDROCK- I hate it. No. No I loath it. Like what the fuck are you your fucking shrimp.
And it's fight wasn't even that hard. It was just annoying. Like- colagara in my opinion was the easiest, but it was super fun. But the muchdrock? He sucked.
Also btw- before the wrap up, has anyone found the smoldering coliseum and got zants helm??? Just me? Ok :') apparently it's the ice verison of the thunder helm. Now I think there is a fire one.. hmMmmm
Anyway! That wraps up the ramble!
