Dream Journal #2 This dream was an interesting one. It was based in some Victorian-esque world where magic existed. Some water sources were haunted, and you could bind the spirit by taking a sample of water in a vial to carry with you. There was a massive culture around who owned what waterways and which vials, and therefore spirits, were passed down in families. The older spirits had fancy caps on their bottles like the ones depicted here, which marked their ownership and were kind of like an offering to the spirit bound. The older the water, the more owners it had, and therefore the more power it had because the bound creature absorbed the previous owners’ spirit. At one point in my dream, I had these three vials because the old families were dying out, and the people who owned them trusted me to keep the secret of the waterways safe. I remember holding these three in my hand, seeing the original natural water they’d been trapped from, and understanding that to break the cycle, I’d need to return the water to where it had come from so all the trapped spirits could be freed. I woke up before I could do it.
This piece is 9"x6" Legion Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress paper in black. It has: watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, metallic watercolor, and gel pen. The original will be for sale on my Ko-fi for $115 starting October 14th if none of my patrons message me with intent to purchase before then. This went up early for my patrons and they also get to see behind the scenes progress of my pieces! If you’re interested search TundraKatieBean on Patreon!

Day 4 This is a paper that I've bought a handful of times, tucked it away and forgotten about, only to buy it again because it's such a beautiful paper. 😅 I finally got to sit down with it today. Stonehenge by Legion is so lovely to work on. Panpastels glide on it like butter and I can't wait to try colored pencils next. Or maybe gouache??
Created with Panpastels and charcoal on Stonehenge Legion paper in about 3 hours. 6x6in

Someone finally tricked me into watching the Castlevania anime, and now I can fully appreciate the beauty that is ALUCARD.
This thing is like twice the size of my usual work! I had to scan it in three pieces D: And the gold is metallic in real life, of course. I struggled with the colors a lot, but in the end I’m really happy with the overall color scheme. And I’m soooo happy with this eyes, omg ♥♥♥
Materials used: Cotman watercolors, Staedtler Triplus pens, Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils, Winsor & Newton gouache and acrylic paint, on 16x20 Stonehenge paper.

Spent a good chunk of today cleaning and resurfacing my Neolt drafting table and went ahead and cluttered it up with these renderings an acetate. Final drawing on a 22.5"x13.25" cut of cream colored Stonehenge paper. Shout out to @jaredwright and @artboytidwell for being a soundboard this evening on composition. Nice to get feedback from fresh eyes and get out of my own little bubble. #wip #art #illustration #drawing #painting #watercolor #gouache #ink #pencil #sketch #sketchbook #speedpainting #moleskine #entomology #derelict #carculture #classiccar #hotrod #timelapse #coffee #rust #herpatology #snake #rattlesnake #diamondback (at City of Winter Springs)

Seraph Fae - 5"x7" watercolor, acryla gouache, purple iridescent paint, white pen, white colored pencil on brown stonehenge paper
I started out with a wet wash on the stonehenge paper for the background colors, then i used a scrap piece of paper folded in half to make a rorschach test style ink blot with white acryla gouache, which i then smooshed onto the stonehenge paper while it was still damp and allowed it to drip at an angle.

“Portrait of a Druid’s Apprentice”
Pretty self indulgent little piece - I'm a sucker for mysterious floating orbs and murky mossy greenery. It's been a while since I've been so happy with how something turned out, I really like this little guy. Faeries wearing cloaks of moss/lichens is a theme I'll probably revisit on and off, I'm jealous I can't wear plants as clothing.
5"x7" brown Stonehenge paper with watercolor, acryla gouache, colored pencil and touches of white pen and graphite.
Original is available (etsy shop name is TealNewcombArt) - I’ll have prints available shortly.
