My thoughts: God I love this fic. Like, yes, Scott knows how to navigate the world blind because of his power. And him and Matt!! Bonding!!! And Scott feeling guilty!! having imposter syndrome!! about not "really" being blind. Anyways I am ALL OVER this dynamic. I love it. They both need more friends, mostly Scott, but still. They’re so cute! (Even tho I know canonically Matt’s several years older prob bc Scott’s the same age as Peter Parker). You know I have to rec GrayJay's Connect the Dots with this one for more Matt Murdock and Scott Summers interactions.

YouTube ReVanced broke on my phone and I got tired of updating it, so I'm going to plug the Grayjay app I've had previously as a backup. Should've just switched to it sooner

No ads, allows background play, downloading, Subscription + Playlist import, and you get to keep your recommendations too.

Also supports multiple sites, even paid ones if you link your account. (Doesn't allow access to paid content you didn't pay for)

doesn't it piss you off corporations act like you were born to see ads. why it's so bad for trying to escape them??? the way it's okay for websites to make ads sooo annoying you feel like you have no choice but buy premium. and even then you can't escape ad reads. i don't want to waste hours of my life skipping ads. finding the x button. or being woken by an ad that pops at the end of 3 hours long white noise video. using spotify without premium is a nightmare. i hate how ads are everywhere and somehow it's normal to say 'if you don't want to see ads on youtube and use adblock then you're stealing from them!' what. i'm gonna install adblock on every computer elders in my family use as a preventive measure bc too many websites put ads in between news articles!!!

Also GrayJay by FUTO (which you might know through youtuber Loius Rossmann) has an android, windows, linux, and mac version. It is open source and lets you view videos/audios from many platforms, notably youtube, without ads.

You can pay for a license. Or not. Either way you get the same app. (you should if you could tho cause this thing goes so hard)

yes, I read it and it was quite beautiful and painful at the same time! I also enjoyed this story from the same author. I think they portrayed Scott and Alex's siblings energy super well. It is super sweet to see how excited they are to connect with each other again! I guess I could make a very small fic rec. It is only about the o5 or awkward young early x-men time (so no scogan, sorry!). The main character or focus is Scotty (cause that's what I enjoy reading :P) Ringer by Crewe (no ship) it is a sweet story where Scott clearly has OCD and the o5 are freaking out haha!

Tradition by Cerylid (no ship) the first christmas celebration with the o5. Quite angsty for Scott but it is over all sweet. We read everyone POV and it is really interesting to read everyone's interpretation! These are the days it never rains but it pours by Wolfsheart (Bobby/Scott) it is sweet, a bit awkward, but mostly cute! They're sweet bean who are discovering who they are and are comfy around each other! I like there is no pressure of a relationship and they can calmly discuss about it. Scott give big protector vibes, for once he is not completely clueless. I Never (The But Just This Once Remix) by TheSecondBatgirl (Warren/Scott) Warren gives Scott his first kiss. Vertical Garden and Angels by GammaGaze (Warren/Scott) I guess they're adult here. Scott is a bit clueless, good christmas vibes and everyone are sweet and give Scott a little kiss.

This is a great time to move away from big tech. I've seen a lot of people wanting to leave google specifically as more and more stories come out showing that they're a supervillain company, but not feeling like they can. It is possible, there are alternatives!

I didn't make this graphic, but I'd personally add GrayJay for YouTube, CollaBora Office for Google Docs, Ente for Google Photos, Signal for messaging, duckduckgo for Google Search, Aurora Store and F-Droid for the App Store, Magic Earth + Yelp for Google Maps, and ProtonMail for Gmail. If you'd like more recommendations r/degoogle is an excellent resource.

Gen Fic Recs

Here are some of my fave gen fics for mostly comics. Please give them some love, as gen fics are routinely underlooked. <3

Rex Racer on the Final Turn by GrayJay - X-Men (Comics) - A epistolary fic based on 616 canon, focusing on the Summers brothers. It's very long and detailed and fits neatly into canon while updating to modern tech. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this one.

You're the Comeback Kid by ryoukootonashi - DCU (Comics) - Roxy Leech + Kon, about Roxy reacting to Kon's death. A nice focus into a relationship DC has neglected for years.

Sure on this shining night by mediant - DCU (Comics) - Lots of good stuff from the Superfam Secret Santa, but this one sticks out for digging into Kryptonian customs. I just adore it.

a window opens up (someone calls your name) by sheikahs - DCU (Comics) - A post-Mercury Falling Thad redemption. For those of you who know, I don't think I need to say more. But I just loved the premise, and it was so, so good.

The Irredeemable Beast by OhMyStarsAndGarters - X-Men (Comics) - A fic which reconciles Hank McCoy's previous characterization with all the stuff that's happened in recent years. If you liked Hank McCoy and want a good story following modern comics, this is for you. It's still a WIP, but I've been loving it.

how big, how blue, how beautiful by merils - DCU (Comics) - Friend fic <3 but also listen to Rimi, Ph.D. in Kon about his trauma and enjoy the Clark + Kon dynamic. No one gets Clark + Kon like Rimi.

Family Ties by SolidCoffee - TMNT - Another friend fic, but Raph as a dad with family drama. It's so much fun and complex, and I love Jamie's attention to detail.

Right to Remain Silent - DCU (Comics) - Focuses on an outsider POV of what happens after Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van send their son away.
