NAMJOON
HOW YOU GOT HURT
You were sent to negotiate a weapons deal with a minor syndicate (Namjoons orders: “Observe, don’t engage”). But their leader recognized you as his weakness. Ambushed. A blade to your throat, a hissed threat: “Tell your boss to back off, or I’ll mail you to him in pieces.” You fought back, got a gash across your ribs for it.
You hid the injury for 6 hours, stitching it yourself in a gas station bathroom. But your phone died. By the time you limped back to his penthouse, blood had seeped through your shirt.

I am gonna send you a bunch of questions, instructions, and remarks regarding your tech issues. Please don't feel pressured to answer them.
Have you tried Updating your graphics Driver? (On WIN 10, Open search bar, Type Device Manager, then go to Display adapters, and right click your graphics card.
Tumblr media
2. Does the problem happen anywhere or only in a specific location. (regarding the glitchy pink green grid) I mean Physical location. Like: "This only happens while I'm sitting at my desk"
3. In what way does FireAlpaca stop working. Does it crash, does it Hang(not respond to anything), Does it not respond to brush strokes on your tablet? Does the rest of your computer also stop working or slow down? Does your Mouse cursor do anything?
4. Does the Task Manager (or Equivalent, Idk your Operating system) note anything weird? (Hard drive at 100 all of the time, Memory at 100%, CPU at 100% for very long)
5. Combine 3 and 4. Have Task manager open while you're doing things in Alpaca and look at it if Alpaca starts being weird
6. From what I can tell, you have a Touch-Screen tablet that connects to your computer. (please correct me if I'm wrong) That matters because the tablet also uses your PC's OS, which means that your problems, if not hardware related, are usually your OS's or drawing program's fault.
7. If you can, Try using your drawing tablet for literally anything and everything else. Similarly, Try using Alpaca without your tablet. This way you can maybe figure out if Alpaca is being weird, or if it's the tablet.
I sat on this ask for a while in an attempt to fully test out/do all the things you mentioned. Here's my response:
1. Have you tried Updating your graphics Driver?
Yes I have! :0 I know I did this right because my super techy friend did it for me.😅 My Laptop drivers are for sure up to date.👍
2. Does the problem happen anywhere or only in a specific location. (regarding the glitchy pink green grid) I mean Physical location. Like: "This only happens while I'm sitting at my desk"
It doesn't matter where I am, the glitchy screen and the buggy FireAlpace happened anytime I tried to use them. Though I will note that after buying a new chord for my tablet, the pink and green glitches and weird black outs completely stopped. But FireAlpaca continues to bug out every few minutes. :(
3. In what way does FireAlpaca stop working. Does it crash, does it Hang(not respond to anything), Does it not respond to brush strokes on your tablet? Does the rest of your computer also stop working or slow down? Does your Mouse cursor do anything?
I am not great with my words so I took a video of FireAlpaca bugging out to show you. (I apologize for the low quality.. I shrunk it down so I could send it to a friend on Discord but now I cannot find the original video for the life of me😔)
In this gif I am selecting all these different tools, but they're all acting like the pen tool. Which was the tool I was using before it started to bug out. I forgot to clip it but the undo/redo button is also broken.
Tumblr media
4. Does the Task Manager (or Equivalent, Idk your Operating system) note anything weird? (Hard drive at 100 all of the time, Memory at 100%, CPU at 100% for very long)
I have checked Task Manager when FireAlpaca was and was not bugging out. Everything seemed to act the same each time.. <:(
5. Combine 3 and 4. Have Task manager open while you're doing things in Alpaca and look at it if Alpaca starts being weird
Have tried this and I didn't notice any change when FireAlpaca started tweaking. :(
6. From what I can tell, you have a Touch-Screen tablet that connects to your computer. (please correct me if I'm wrong) That matters because the tablet also uses your PC's OS, which means that your problems, if not hardware related, are usually your OS's or drawing program's fault.
My drawing tablet is an XPPen Artist 13.3 Pro. Its not a touch screen but it has a drawing stylus. It's basically another monitor that I can use a stylus with. :0
I don't know if that means its using my laptops OS.. nor do I know how to fix it if my problem lies in that connection <:((
7. If you can, Try using your drawing tablet for literally anything and everything else. Similarly, Try using Alpaca without your tablet. This way you can maybe figure out if Alpaca is being weird, or if it's the tablet.
My tablet seems to work fine outside of FireAlpaca..? I think..?
But what I have tried is when FireAlpaca is bugging out I would move the window to my laptop monitor and try to use the paint tools with the mouse. The first few times I did this the problem fixed itself when I opened snipping tool to record it.
So I then set snipping tool to record my laptop screen, drew with my tablet until it bugged out again.. and then moved FireAlpaca to my laptop and kept drawing with a mouse. This is the result.
It broke the way it did before. Selecting multiple tools and either drawing nothing or only using the tool I was already using. The undo/redo buttons still do not work.
The only way to fix this problem is to save my canvas, close FireAlpaca and then reopen it. Sometimes clicking out of FireAlpaca and back into it fixes it..? But not always.
Anyways, I did my best to answer these as best I can. With my tablet drivers being up to date..(??) My laptop drivers being up to date and FireAlpaca being the latest version,, I'm not sure what could be causing my problems :((

T$$ Extra: Staples
cw: abuse/manipulation, noncon touch, vague fear of noncon, Hunter's terrible self worth, painful punishment
Masterlist // takes place the day before this
×~×~×
Vic hovered behind Hunter as he honed his focus on the map on the table, heavy hands settling onto his shoulders and squeezing. The paper in front of him was a mess of a grid. Lines and words and symbols trying to tell him the shape of a building. If he wasn't trying to see past it, maybe he could've made sense of it all, but Vic wanted more than sense.
Can your implant show us which route will be clear tomorrow?
Hunter didn't think so. His head throbbed with the misplacing shapes, with the memories of last night. Vic's hands twisting his shirt, pressing him in place, cuffing his hands and telling him "now wait" as chlorine burned his nose and green leeched past closed eyes.
He would've waited.
He could've fought Sahota, probably. Could've got him to fuck off, but he didn't. His legs carried him away even though his brain knew he was being stupid.
It was what Vic wanted. What happened if Vic knew he'd walked away so easily? If giving up made Vic change his mind?
He saw what it meant for Sahota the next day. Oil slick. A deeper pattern than Sahota gave Hunter when they first met, Vic choking the life out of him.
Had he meant to kill him? No, it would've just been to scare him, to remind him it was Vic in charge. Sahota shouldn't have interfered.
Sahota shouldn't have saved Hunter.
No, fuck that, he hadn't saved him. It wasn't like Vic was planning to choke Hunter out, that was just what Sahota got for breaking the rules. If he hadn't butted in, Hunter would be fine. He'd just... It probably would've hurt, but he'd be fine. He could take it, couldn't Sahota get that? He was so fucking good at taking it.
It wasn't like Sahota's stupid sacrifice did anything anyway.
Here he was.
If Vic wanted something from him, he could take it whenever he wanted.
"See anything?"
Hunter shook his head, breath catching when he tried to speak in a way that didn't betray his memories. "N-no. It's like... Fuck, the implant just thinks it's paper. That's all it sees. Lines on paper."
Vic hummed, green growing duller in disappointment, and even though it wasn't Hunter's fucking fault what the implant did or didn't detect, his chest tightened.
"I can figure it out on the spot," he said. "It doesn't matter what I see now."
"I believe you. You'll do good." Squeeze. "It would've been a valuable skill. Perhaps it can be trained."
Perhaps. But what if it couldn't? If Vic wanted something Hunter couldn't give?
It wasn't his fault. It was just his body, it was just... Him.
"Let's move on to something else."
Vines dipped in and out of his ribcage, twisting around the bones in a way that almost felt painful as he watched Vic cross the room. He didn't...
He had to.
Hunter squeezed his eyes shut against his throbbing skull and tried to breathe deeper. Fuck his lungs, fuck his stupid body, this was fine. Being afraid--- no, nervous, just nervous, it was just new---wouldn't change anything. He wanted this. This was his choice.
But when he looked up, Vic was only holding out a few objects. A bright pink marker, a pencil, a stapler. A neutral green wafting up from the hands that held them.
"We'll warm up with some location drills. Wait outside while I hide these. Let's see if you can find them all in under three minutes."
Hunter left the room with a nod, hating the relief that rose in him. It was only a minute or two before Vic came to get him, pointing him to the center of the room.
"You already saw them," he said, his arms crossed. "Pencil, stapler, highlighter. In that order. Three minutes."
Pencil, stapler, highlighter. Hunter muttered the list under his breath. In order. It was three things, not that hard to remember.
Pencil. He tried to picture it. Lead and wood. He used to chew on the erasers in class. Pencil.
A little trail of shimmering discs spun out towards the wall, and Hunter followed it, blinking away a new wave of ache that was starting behind his eyes. Pencil. It was wedged between the wall and the bookshelf, and he pried it loose, holding it up for Vic to see.
"Good boy."
Even after last night, even after knowing exactly what those words could mean, Hunter couldn't help the feeling that welled inside him. Hearing Vic say that felt good. It felt safe.
He set the pencil on Vic's desk. Okay, now the marker--- no, fuck, stapler. The discs still glittered their way to the pencil, even as he tried to wave them away. He still hadn't learned to shut off a trail. They lingered until they were done, stinging his eyes all the way through.
He tried to ignore them, focusing on the image of the stapler. Black plastic cover, thick rows of metal teeth inside, lining up to bite. After a moment, a new trail of shapes appeared, smaller discs, spikes jutting out of them. One of the drawers.
Hunter stepped forward to open it, snatching the stapler and again holding up his find for Vic.
"One minute," was the only response he got.
Alright, get on it. Marker, marker.
His head hurt. Shapes from the other two still danced around the room, too bright to look at even as they faded, making it harder to find the right trail.
Marker, fuck, marker.
A third trail faded in slow, low to the ground and again directing him towards the wall.
Hunter lowered himself onto his stomach, squinting at the shimmering line. Marker... Under the shelf? If he squinted he could see it. The flash of pink in the shadows.
"That's three."
Hunter froze as Vic dropped to a knee beside him.
"You're getting faster, but you still need practice. Good thing we'll have all the time in the world after this mission."
Rough-skinned hands slipped under his shirt before Hunter could voice his agreement, his promise to try harder. They palmed his lower back before hiking the fabric up, air on his skin.
"You like pain, don't you?"
Did he? "I... I don't know."
"You're very good with it. I think it's admirable."
A burst of petals split his vision a second before the shock of cold metal on his back, a click, the sharp fangs of a staple burrowing into his flesh.
Hunter flinched, hissing, but Vic's palm grew heavier, pressing him into the floor.
"Shhh, that's what I meant. You have so much control over yourself. You take it and keep going." The chlorine smell was back in full force, heavy, settling over Hunter with a strength that almost stung his skin.
Petals, click, teeth, another staple punching into his back.
Vic's thumb ran over the new wound, pulling at the metal there, and Hunter choked back a whimper.
He takes it and keeps going.
"Good boy, just like that." His thumb grazed Hunter's boxers, just barely nudging beneath the hem. "Do you want another one?"
It felt like a trap. Vic wanted a yes. A no would rebel against the picture Vic had of him, the picture of the person he wanted to stay, the person he wanted close, who he had some sort of affection for.
"Yes," Hunter said in a small voice, and petals drifted past him once again. Vic gave him two more, eight stinging punctures lining his lower back, Vic's crotch hot against his thigh. Hunter wished he didn't feel it, didn't feel anything. Everything around him piled up in his head to overwhelm him. The stupid glittering shapes, the throbbing in his head and new sharp pains in his back, Vic's hands, Vic's presence. He squeezed both eyes shut as his handler pulled away, cheek pressed into the floor, pressure everywhere.
He'd been right, before.
Sahota couldn't save him from anything.

What was your reaction to the moment Jey and Noella had ?
Did you team change since the last chapter ?
Will Roman ever tell Noella how he feels?
comment your answers please. ❤️❤️
Tumblr media
Jey's car California skyline
After the tense encounter between Noella and Roman outside the funeral home Jey did as Noella asked and took Noella to a beautiful outlook of the California skyline. The car was parked and they were sitting on the hood silently looking at the city lights. Noella looks at Jey and asks " How did you find this place it is so beautiful." Jey laughs gently and says " I come up here all the time when life get's crazy, nobody else knows about this place it's my little secret." Noella laughs and says " Well thank you for letting me in on your little secret I pinky swear I will not tell anyone." Jey laughs loudly but gives her is pinky finger so they can pink promise. Jey looks at Noella seriously and says " So what happened with Roman, if you wanna talk about it I am here, always." Noella frowns and says " He was talking to Cody and I overheard Cody say that I was his sister, I freaked out and yelled at him because he promised he would never lie to me." Noella frowns, her eyes brim with tears and she sobs " Why Jey. Why did he lie." Jey gently pulls her into his arms whispers sweet nothings in her eye and kisses her head. Noella finally stops crying lifts her head from his shoulder looks into his eyes and thanks him. Jey puts his right hand onto the right side of her face and gently brushes his fingers against her cheek. Noella's breath hitches and her eyes close as his gentle touch eases her mind. Jey hoarsely whispers " Noella, Baby girl you know I would never lie to you like he does, you are to important to me for me to lie to you." Noella opens her eyes and stares into Jeys warm Brown ones. Noella feels something she's never felt before a pull to Jey that she has never felt with anyone it scares her and excites her all at once. Jeys fingers stop brushing against her cheek, he looks at her eyes shining with something undeniable, desire maybe and he asks " Noella, I know you are going through a lot right now, I really wanna kiss you and help you feel this forever, so can I kiss you." Noella looks at him hesitantly and nervously whispers " J-e-e-y…… Y-e-e-s you can k-k-i-i-s me. " Jey smiles at her confession slowly leans in brushing his forehead against hers and kisses her slips slow and unhurried. Noella wraps her arm around his neck and Jey wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her closer in the process. Before things can progress further Noella pulls away smiles at Jey and says " That is enough for now, okay" Jey kisses her head and says " Okay mama, whatever you want. They lay back down on the hood of the car her head on his chest and his arms wrapped around her shoulders. The two are blissfully unaware that someone near and dear to Jey gave his location away to Rollins and Rhea and they were closing in fast…..
Bloodline mansion
Roman sat in his office chair looking at the documents that Cody had given him to prove he was Noella's blood. Cody had explained to him that Noella's mom Cora and his dad had a one night stand and Noella was a product of that. Cody said his dad had supported Noella and Cora financially until Michael came along then Cora just went off the grid and cut all contact with him. Now that Roman knew the truth he could not help but feel a deep ache in his chest because of how upset Noella was. Solo who is sitting across from him notices his cold shift in his demeanor and says " You know this is not your fault she did not give you anytime to explain before she ran off. " Roman angrily slams his hand onto the table and screams " Dammit you think I don't know that, that is not what is bothering me… she's with Jey now that is what is bothering me. " Why Solo say. " Because I love her and all those feeling I had when we were little came rushing back when I saw her, I want her with me Solo". Roman says, he looks down at the papers and frowns. Solo starts to say something but before he can Jimmy and Kevin run into the room and frantically yell " Guys we have to go to the hospital now, Noella and Jey are their somebody shot them, that is all I know now. " Shit lets go Roman says so the bloodline including Naomi and Kevin load up and rush to the hospital.
At UCLA hospital
Cody, Jey and Noella hobble into the hospital. Noella has a gunshot to her abdomen; Cody has a gunshot to his leg and Jey just got Grazed in the arm with a bullet. The nurses run Cody and Noella to get STAT CT's of their injuries, while another nurse stiches Jey up and leads him back to the lobby. Jey taps his foot anxiously and runs his hands through his hair in frustration, Noella was hurt badly, and he couldn't get to her into time. He hears someone yelling Noella's name, he turns around and sees Roman, the rest of the bloodline and Kevin running in his direction. Roman is so fueled with rage that he pulls jey up by the throat, pushes him against the nearest wall and Growls in his ear " Damn Jey if something bad happened to Noella because of you so help me God you are going to wish that bullet killed you." Jey struggles against his grip and is only freed when Jimmy grabs Roman and pulls him off of Jey. Jimmy hold Roman back and yells " Damn Uce, let him explain." Solo goes to Jey's side in case Roman tries to come at him again. Jey says in a hoarse voice " Me and Noella were just lying on the hood of the car, looking at the skyline in my secret spot. Everything was fine I heard some rustling behind us, so I shot up and that's when I got grazed, I barely had time to react before….." Before what Roman yells. "Before Rhea and Rollins came out with guns, Rhea shot at Noella and she went down, then Cody came out of nowhere and Rollins shot him in the leg. Rhea tried to shoot Noella again to finish the job but before she could I shot her…. she's dead." Roman pushes Jimmy off of him and runs his hands through his hair and says " Great so now Rollins but especially Damien are going to come after our asses. " Solo calmly says " wait and damn minute, if your secret spot how the hell did anyone else know you guys were there." Jey just shakes his head in confusion. Before another word can be spoken Doctors come out and say that Noella and Cody…..
Undisclosed location California
Damien sits in a chair with his jaw and fists clenched in anger. Damien gets up throws the chair he was sitting in to the wall and breaks it. He looks at Seth, smirks evilly and says, " we are going to kill every single person Noella cares about so she can feel my pain, then we are going to kill everyone in the bloodline and rule the city forever." Seth laughs evilly shakes his head and says " Now that we have someone on the inside, when we do this, they are not going to know what hit them and it is going to be freaking awesome. " Seth and Damien turn to their plant and say, " Thank you for telling us Jeys secret spot……."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tension is rising between Jey and Roman, will they be able to keep it together for the sake of Noella.
How do you think Roman will react if he finds out about the kiss between Noella and Jey?
What kind of evil plans do Damien and Seth have planned?
Who is the plant that is close to Jey?

Chapter 11: The Resort
After a three-month journey north, Joel discovers a relatively intact pamphlet, half-buried in the rubble outside a bomb-ravaged motel. The paper is singed and worn at the edges, but most of the information remains legible. He gently blows away the dust and shakes it to straighten it out as Tommy joins his side, peaking over his shoulder to get a better look.
"This one meet your standards?" Tommy queries, his eyes scanning the pamphlet. Without waiting for a response, he reaches for the pamphlet in Joel's hand.
Joel irritably swats at his brother's hand, grumbling under his breath. "Let me read the damn thing, will ya?" he huffs, making his way over to a nearby shattered phone booth and settling onto the bench.
Joel removes his backpack and pulls out a map he scavenged from a gas station a few days ago. The pamphlet features a remote resort situated west by a river and by the horrifying prices, seems to be marketed as an off-the-grid getaway for wealthy families who want a taste of nature without the inconvenience of roughing it like everyone else would by simply camping.
Judging from the images and the provided details, Joel surmises that the place seems like it would be a good option. The whole idea appears to be living off-the-grid.
They've passed by numerous locations that would have met Joel's usual standards, but now that they have the kid, he finds faults with each one. He can sense the tension and annoyance building amongst their group as he continually rejects every spot they come across, deeming none of them safe enough for her.
Maybe this is the one.
"Can we rest soon? I'm tired." She complains, her footsteps sluggish and her voice weary. She turns the corner, with Myles following closely behind, as she plops down onto the bench beside Joel. Exhaustion floods her, and she slumps against him, leaning her entire weight into his side.
Joel's features twist into a frown as he gazes down at her exhausted form. He encircles her with his arm, pulling her closer and shifting the pamphlet into her view. "What do you think about this place?" he queries.
Myles prods at Tommy's side with his elbow, a look of disbelief on his face as he nods towards Joel and his daughter. "Damn, he's actually found a place, huh?" he mutters, incredulity seeping into his tone.
"Doubt it," Tommy mutters, rolling his eyes towards Joel. "The last place was fine. Old fuck has impossible standards." He shakes his head at Joel as the kid scans over the pamphlet.
"Last place was infested with ants," Joel mutters quietly, his voice filled with irritation. He's interrupted by a gentle tug on his sleeve. She points at a word on the pamphlet, asking him what it says. His voice softens as he reads the sentence aloud, his fingertip carefully gliding over the words as she watches intently.
“Can this be our home? Pleeeeease Joel!” A pleading tone laces her voice as she gazes up at Joel, her bottom lip sticking out in a pout and her eyes staring intently, begging. It's a look that both Sarah and she have perfected, one that melts Joel's heart and bends his will every time.
Joel releases a deep sigh, his resistance crumbling before her pleading expression. He gives in, his shoulders rising in a helpless shrug. "How about we take a look?" he concedes, surrendering to her.
"Yes!" Myles exclaims, his face breaking into a wide grin as he shoves a grumbling Tommy with a chuckle. "I fucking told you, man! He can't say no to her," he teases, punctuating his statement with an exaggerated gesture towards the kid. He wraps his arm around Tommy, pulling him along like a rag doll as Tommy stumbles, struggling to keep up with Myles' excited tugging.
Tommy pushes Myles away with a hearty laugh, and Joel watches the interaction stoically, only barely managing to suppress the amused smile that threatens to break out on his face. He lets out a resigned sigh as he glances down at the kid, her apologetic smile tugging at his heartstrings.
“Your daddy told you to do that, didn’t he.” He asks with a raised eyebrow.
“He told me I would get first pick at a bedroom if I convinced you to stay at the next place we find.”
Her sheepish confession causes Joel to finally break out into a smile. He shakes his head in resignation, his heart melting as he gazes down at her. "Did he now?" he responds, a hint of amusement lacing his voice. "Well, let’s get a move on then." With a sigh, he rises from the bench, a fond smile still on his face.
Myles bounds over to his daughter, comically grabbing her face and showering it with exaggerated kisses. She squirms and groans, trying in vain to push her father away, a playful frown on her face.
Joel approaches Tommy as his brother rummages through his bag, mumbling under his breath. Joel catches the tail-end of Tommy's mutterings about a bet he had made with Myles, concerning a can of pudding as payment if his plan involving the kid panned out.
Joel crosses his arms sternly as Tommy rises, slinging the bag over his shoulder and holding the can of pudding in his other hand. "You do realize I haven't agreed yet," he adds, a hint of irritation in his voice. "For all we know, the place could be overrun with infected or a group might have already claimed it."
Tommy shrugs casually in response, unaffected by Joel's concerns. Myles swings his daughter onto his shoulder, spinning her around to her joyful laughter. Joel glances over at the pair, his attention fixed on the kid as she holds onto her father tightly, her bandanna falling over her eyes.
"Just a heads up," Tommy adds, his eyes meeting Joel's. "If this place is actually decent and you still say no, Myles told her to put on a show and start crying." Joel responds with a resigned grunt, shaking his head as he walks back to the bench and grabs the girl's pack. Myles readjusts his hold on her, and she comfortably sits atop his shoulders, her head resting gently on her father's.
Tumblr media
The resort turns out to be quite expansive, boasting a spacious reception area that backs onto what was once a luxurious five-star restaurant, complete with a pool and spa. Tommy snags a map from behind the front desk, and the group divides the grounds into three equal sections for each member to thoroughly clear.
Tommy assigns himself the task of checking the lake-side family cabins, Joel is responsible for clearing the inner forest cabins, while Myles and the kid take charge of scouting the communal amenity buildings.
The remainder of the day is spent quietly sweeping the cabins, one by one. To Joel's relief, each structure he enters proves vacant and devoid of inhabitants, besides the few rats he finds.
Joel regroups with Myles and his daughter at the agreed-upon meeting spot by the playground. His eyes fall on her, effortlessly swinging on the monkey bars, as Myles gently sways on the swing set.
She jumps off the monkey bars the instant she spots Joel and dashes over to him, her excitement bubbling over as she leaps into his path. "Joel! Joel, this place is sooo cool!" she pleads, her words tumbling out in a torrent of enthusiasm. "Please, please can we stay here? There's a pool, and a playground and a whole building just for games and-" She trips over her words, overwhelmed by her own excitement as she points to each building.
Joel chuckles softly as he places his hands on her shoulders, trying to calm her down. "Easy now, princess," he says, his voice light with amusement. "I know you're excited, but we need to wait for Tommy before we decide anything. Gotta make sure no one else is here." Her shoulders slump slightly as she processes his words, her excitement tampered but not extinguished.
Her face instantly brightens again as she peeks around Joel's towering form, her gaze fixating on something behind him. He follows her gaze and spots Tommy walking between the cabins towards the playground. Tommy raises his thumb and flashes a smile at them, and the kid tugs on Joel's jacket, drawing his attention back to her.
"Alright," Joel responds with a smile, "we can stay here for a few nights and then we'll decide if we'll stay long term." The child's face lights up as she hears the news, breaking into a run towards her father. She leaps with joy as she rejoins Myles on the swings, her excitement uncontainable.
Tommy approaches Joel, sharing that he has found a lake-side cabin that is spacious enough for all four of them and largely untouched by previous looters. Joel nods in agreement, and they begin to walk towards the cabin together. Myles has to restrain the kid from running ahead with excitement, as they make their way to what could potentially become their new home.
The cabin that Tommy leads Joel to is a two-story wooden structure, nestled beside a tranquil river that borders the resort. The landscaping surrounding the cabin has grown wild and lush, greenery creeping over the once immaculately manicured paths. These pathways connect the cabin to both a scenic outdoor picnic area to the right and a detached garage at the back.
The front porch is devoid of any furniture, leaving it stark and bare. The windows remain intact from what Joel can observe, standing before the front of the cabin with his hands resting on his hips as he assesses the exterior of the house.
Joel scrutinizes the cabin's exterior, mentally noting every minor imperfection and flaw. Although the exterior gives the impression of a luxurious residence, he can tell it is constructed with cheap materials, cleverly concealed with a lavish facade.
The fact that the cabin has multiple entrances in the form of several doors and windows concerns Joel. He mentally counts the various routes that someone could use to break in, deeming it a potential security issue. Thirteen windows and five doors on the first floor, ten windows on the second floor.
Joel's gaze falls upon the garden, and his frown deepens as he notices the roots of the plants. He can already imagine the child tripping and falling on the uneven terrain.
The swing set in the back looks like it could collapse at any moment, the creaking of the metal chains as it sways in the wind is not filling Joel with much confidence.
Tommy lays a reassuring hand on Joel's shoulder, sensing the tension building in his chest. "It's safe," Tommy asserts, his words carrying a sincere conviction. "She's safe," Tommy adds, and Joel lets out a weary sigh as Myles opens the door and the kid dashes into the cabin.
Joel grunts and follows his brother into the cabin. The front half of the house is open to the upstairs level above them, with a staircase in front of him leading up to the bedrooms. The loft area extends over the open kitchen on the right side, supported by wooden columns. The space is more spacious than he expected, taking in the layout before him.
As Joel looks to his right, his gaze falls on the dining room, situated directly in front of the kitchen. A large, round blue wooden table dominates the majority of the space, with chairs arranged around it. However, Joel grimaces at the sight of the plush black rug beneath, envisioning the mess and chaos small children could cause in the presence of a rug like that.
To his left, a comfortable seating arrangement beckons, composed of a brown leather couch and two matching armchairs. A small metal fireplace stands in a tiled corner, and next to it, a wide archway leads to another room. The kid emerges from there, holding a puzzle box in her little hands.
"They have puzzles and games and books and crafts!" she exclaims excitedly, showing Tommy the horse puzzle she discovered. Tommy chuckles and sets the puzzle box down on the coffee table, settling down on the couch as the kid settles next to him, the pair examining the puzzle together.
Joel steps into the small windowed room adjacent to the living room. Low bookcases line the lower portion of the walls, while large windows cover the upper space. A multicolored table stands in the center of the crowded room, bearing a scattered array of playing cards upon its surface. A door on the right leads out to yet another porch, located on the side of the house.
Joel departs the room, strolling past his brother and the girl as they unload the puzzle pieces onto the coffee table. The remainder of the main floor is simple, consisting of a bathroom situated behind the staircase that serves as an en-suite for the main bedroom located next. In addition, a primary bathroom is stationed at the end of the hallway and a mudroom is located between the bathroom and the kitchen.
The upper floor consists of two fairly spacious bedrooms, an open loft that houses more couches and, surprisingly, another bathroom. How many bathrooms do rich folks need?
The kid bounds up the stairs behind Joel and almost collides with him, bursting into a run as soon as she reaches the top. Joel steadies himself against the railing of the loft as Myles steps out of the bedroom on the left, joining Joel and coming to a stop beside him.
"This one! I want this one!" she gasps, excitement filling her voice as she pokes her head through the door of the bedroom on the right.
After a brief discussion, Tommy claims the bedroom on the main floor, while Myles settles into the upstairs room next to his daughter's. Joel is left with the short end of the stick and opts to take the garage at the back, but he doesn't protest. The space to himself is exactly what he craves.
Over the coming weeks, their efforts focus on scavenging through the park, gathering items to turn the newly-found house into a home. Tommy even locates a guitar and woodworking supplies for Joel. Meanwhile, Myles scours for clothes and furnishings to enrich their bedrooms. On top of that, Myles has taken up gardening, constructing raised beds in the area behind the side porch where he tends to growing food. He sternly rejects any idea of Joel touching his plants.
Joel diligently gathers potential defenses and an assortment of craft supplies for the kid. Lately, she's been immersed in the art of cross stitching, leaving her handiwork gracing each of their rooms.
During those initial weeks, Joel barely catches a glimpse of her as she buries herself in books, crafts, or accompanies Tommy on food-related expeditions. Despite her hectic schedule, Joel can't help but miss her presence, but he takes comfort in the knowledge that she remains safe, never leaving the watchful eyes of either Tommy or Myles.
He locates her by the lake one late summer afternoon, perched high in a tree with a book in her hands as Myles floats lazily in the river, relaxing on an inflatable donut. After a long day spent patrolling the resort and checking on his traps, Joel returns to the lakeside, carrying yet another puzzle he stumbled upon in a car trunk.
Her head jerks towards Joel as he snaps a twig underfoot and a small, satisfied smirk appears on his face as he looks up at her. He’s pleased to see that she's paying attention to her surroundings, even as she’s reading and safe in the company of her father. That she’s listening intently to her environment, just as he's been trying to teach her in the past few weeks at the cabin.
"Found you another puzzle," Joel calls out, lifting the puzzle in his hand as he glances up at her. "Looks like some kinda mystery one, can't tell what the picture is ‘til you put it together," he adds, a shrug of his shoulders accompanying his words as she leaps down from the tree branch, landing in front of him.
With a frown, she mutters, "That's just stupid." She stands on her toes, trying to get a glimpse of the puzzle box in Joel's hands. "How am I supposed to know what I'm making if I can't see the picture?" she pouts as he hands her the box in question.
Joel grins as he teases her, "Looks like you'll have to put that brain of yours to work, kiddo." she rolls her eyes in response, clearly not amused by his little jab.
Joel takes the opportunity to observe her as she examines the puzzle in her hands, his gaze lingering on her hair. The time spent at the cabin seems to have had a small, yet noticeable effect. She had banned Myles from even looking at scissors the moment they decided to stay at the cabin long term. It now reaches her shoulders, messily braided into two sections. The bandanna he gifted to her that she refuses to take off, keeps her hair out of her face, tied around her head.
His eyebrow raises as he notices one of the braids, taking it in his hand for closer inspection. The braid appears to start loose and unkempt before transitioning into a tight, neat finish. With a chuckle, she explains that Tommy has been attempting to master the art of braiding recently.
Joel lets go of her braid and nods toward the house. "Why don't I fix up that hair of yours while you start on that puzzle?" he proposes, a smirk on his face. She grins back at him with a nod, shouting out to Myles that she's heading inside.
Joel spends the rest of the evening with her, both hunched over the coffee table as she struggles to piece the puzzle together. After an hour, he pleads to switch places with Tommy but his brother sternly refuses, maintaining the kitchen is out of bounds for Joel after the disastrous stew incident where he somehow managed to burn the first and last meal he was trusted to prepare.
Hours after sunset, she eventually falls asleep, succumbing to exhaustion as Myles and Tommy venture outside to smoke whatever it is that Myles had discovered the day before.
Joel mutters in frustration as he looks down at the puzzle in front of them. He silently admits that puzzles do indeed require a picture to serve as a reference. Although he believes it is a magical fairy forest, she remains confident in her idea that the puzzle depicts nothing more than an ordinary forest adorned with fireflies.
That night, he picks her up and carries her to bed, gently tucking her in and carefully removing the bandanna from her head so she can sleep comfortably. He settles down on the edge of the bed beside her and softly caresses her head, watching as she drifts off into a deeper sleep.
Memories of that fateful night flood his thoughts – the sight of the roof collapsing onto her small form, and the haunting echoes of her terrified screams reverberate in his mind. Joel turns his gaze away from her and instead fixates on his lap, unable to shake the vivid images that continue to play through his mind.
Her voice barely above a whisper, she murmurs his name, pulling him out of the torturous memories replaying in his mind. He looks over at her as she stirs and sits up in her bed, her eyes half-lidded and glazed over, still half asleep.
She’s safe.
Safe.
Safe.
He hums softly in response, watching as she tiredly rubs her eyes. She hesitates, sounding almost embarrassed, before quietly confessing, "I don't like sleeping alone. Can you, um...can you stay?"
Joel recollects Myles mentioning that it had taken the better part of three weeks before she finally started to sleep in her own bed rather than sharing a room with her dad. Even now, Myles would occasionally mention how he trips over her in the morning as he finds her asleep on his floor, silently seeking the comfort of his presence without disturbing his sleep.
Joel nods in agreement, standing up and moving over to the oversized bean bag positioned in the corner of the room, surrounded by boxes of crafting supplies he's collected for her. As he settles into the cushion, he's surprised by how comfortable it is. A small grunt of approval escapes his lips as he shifts, crossing his arms over his chest and resting his head on the bag and closes his eyes.
He’ll just stay here until she falls asleep again, he tells himself before he falls asleep himself.
He remains beside her for the entire night, only to be woken by the first rays of the rising sun as they shine through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room.
He gazes over at her, stifling a yawn as he begins to sit up, the bean bag's initial comfort giving way to a distinct sense of discomfort as his back cracks. She remains blissfully asleep in her bed, a content expression on her face. He can't help but smile fondly at the sight.
She’s safe.

was thinking abt how much i miss the 2014-2015 era fnaf fandom and it's interpretations of the characters (oh vincent purple guy how i miss you.) so new au alert!! lil chibis of my vincent n phone guy <3 designs are very much inspired by the popular designs for them around that time (originally popularized/created by rebornica i believe - though these are completely separate from their au i am not associated with them in any way shape or form) 🎉✧ SUPER COOL EPIC LORE INFO UNDER THE CUT!!!!!!! ✧🎉
general lore ☆ basically a whole rewrite - not because i have issues with the story (i stopped paying full attention after sister location tbh) just for fun!! again very much based on me missing 2010s fnaf fandom that was PEAK to me ☆ i still tie in some pieces of the lore but for the most part. forget what u know abt fnaf this is a whole rewrite (ex. animatronics are sentient but not possessed by children - not possessed at all in fact!! except for perhaps a few exceptions but i'm working on it) ☆ these two have quite a lot of canon lore tie-ins but beyond these two it's different LOL ☆ set in or around 2014, timeline is a wip vincent dorian (formerly afton) ☆ italian on his dad's side, armenian on his mom's side ☆ william afton's only child, born while freddy's was open but doesn't remember it rlly - his father and henry emily were co-owners/business partners but split ways (aka william got fired bc henry found out what he did. why he didn't bring this to the cops i'm still working out) soon after he was born ☆ raised by william as a single father ☆ was forced to help his father kill since he was like 12 this guy's got TRAUMA. ☆ still deciding on why he's purple (boy why you ourple.) but ik that it's william's fault. idk if i wanna go the walking corpse route like with michael in canon yet ☆ cuts off his dad when he's 18 - moves out on his own, etc. ☆ still kills for reasons i am currently working on however he does NOTTTT kill children ☆ starts working at freddy's at 27 as a way to 'rebel' against his dad, even if he hasn't seen him in yeeears by this point ☆ night guard at first, eventual day shift guard and sometimes a technician when needed ☆ his hair is naturally still black - he dyes it purple bc he thinks it looks cool ☆ his red scrunchie matches the red of phone guy's head <3 scott emily ☆ THE DRAWING IS OF A VERY SPECIFIC POINT IN THE AU I HAVE YET TO FLESH OUT it's not the most reflective of his character overall ☆ puerto rican ☆ henry emily's only child - remembers a tiny bit about william, remembers being scared shitless of him ☆ gets caught in a fire set by william when he's 16. he barely makes it out alive ☆ henry makes him the phone head mask thing. it can *technically* be removed but it never is bc it keeps the scars that never quite fully healed from getting worse ☆ head somehow works like a real phone... don't ask i just thought the idea of him ringing when he feels strong emotions is rlly funny (henry makes sentient animatronics in this au he can do anything. everyone say ty plot device dad!!) ☆ has some sort of contacts made by his dad that allow him to see through the phone ☆ grew up with the restaurant, his dad managed the location he's currently at until passing the business and the manager position onto him when he was 25 and henry was ready to retire ☆ henry told scott the full truth about william shortly before retiring - including that he set the fire that he got caught in. it's made him pretty paranoid that he's coming for him or something's gonna happen to him, even if neither of them have heard from william since then and he's essentially off the grid ☆ always at the restaurant during opening hours but rarely ever seen bc he doesn't want to scare any of the kids with his phone head vincent & scott ☆ yes they're dating. everyone cheer!! early fandom purplephone was my SHITTTT i love them so much ugh they r everything 2 me ☆ ngl they remind me of poolverine (deadpool x wolverine). vincent is deadpool (VERY accurate.) and scott is wolverine (less accurate but their dynamic stands) ☆ scott finds vincent annoying at first but eventually warms up to him and now he loooooves him. he's still annoying but he loooooooooves him ☆ scott doesn't know vince is william's son at first since he changed his surname and looks completely different ☆ they're just rlly cute and deeply in love and got some angsty shit going on later but that'll be a surprise oooo

Switchgear Solutions for Solar and Wind Energy Systems
Tumblr media
Why Switchgear Matters in Solar and Wind Systems
Switchgear plays a central role in controlling, isolating, and protecting electrical equipment. In renewable energy applications, it helps:
· Manage power flow from variable energy sources.
· Protect systems from faults or overloads.
· Ensure seamless grid integration and disconnection when needed.
Unlike traditional power plants, solar and wind systems generate intermittent power, requiring switchgear that can handle dynamic loads and frequent switching.
Challenges in Renewable Energy Applications
Here are some of the unique challenges renewable energy systems face — and how they impact switchgear selection:
1. Variable Output
Solar and wind energy production fluctuates based on weather and time of day. This demands switchgear that can:
· Handle frequent load changes.
· Operate reliably under fluctuating voltages and currents.
2. Decentralized Generation
Unlike centralized grids, solar and wind systems are often spread out across multiple locations.
· Modular, compact switchgear is preferred for such installations.
· Smart monitoring becomes critical to manage performance remotely.
3. Harsh Environments
Wind turbines operate at high altitudes, and solar farms are often exposed to heat, dust, or salt.
· Switchgear needs to be rugged, weather-resistant, and have high IP ratings.
· Outdoor switchgear enclosures and temperature management are essential.
Key Features of Switchgear for Solar & Wind
When designing or upgrading renewable energy systems, look for switchgear that offers:
1. Remote Monitoring and Control
Smart switchgear integrated with IoT technology allows operators to track real-time data, detect faults early, and optimize system performance.
2. High Interruption Capacity
Wind and solar systems may experience voltage spikes. Modern switchgear provides high breaking capacities to safely interrupt fault currents.
3. Modular Design
Allows for easy upgrades and maintenance — crucial for scaling renewable installations.
4. Eco-Friendly Design
Look for SF₆-free switchgear that uses clean air or other sustainable alternatives to reduce environmental impact.
5. Hybrid Capabilities
Switchgear that can connect both AC and DC sources is increasingly valuable in mixed-source grids.
LV, MV, and HV Switchgear for Renewables
· Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear: Used in residential or small-scale solar systems. Compact, safe, and cost-effective.
· Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear: Ideal for commercial and industrial solar/wind applications.
· High Voltage (HV) Switchgear: Essential for utility-scale wind farms or solar plants feeding into the national grid.
Each type requires specific protection, metering, and automation components tailored to its load and system requirements.
Final Thoughts
Switchgear is the backbone of any successful solar or wind energy system. As these technologies become more mainstream, the demand for resilient, intelligent, and environmentally friendly switchgear solutions will continue to rise.
Whether you’re an energy consultant, project developer, or facility manager, choosing the right switchgear today will set the stage for long-term efficiency, safety, and scalability.

You know what would make for a cool long running transformers fic? if anyone's interested in running with this, by all means have at it!
Post apocalypse settings transformers taking place on earth. And it's inadvertently the humans' fault. And post apocalypse generations having to work together with stranded cybertronians for the sake of survival
Basically the whole fiasco started because humans decided to emp nuke them all, because the factions constant fighting is causing way too much destruction and they wanted it to stop
and it works technically...
..but it also works a little too well.
In the process of trying to take the cybertronians offline, they completely wipe out their own technology, power grins, dams, power plants, hospitals, military bases, everything. Even tech that was supposed to be shielded from emp got wiped
Maybe this was deliberate sabotage, maybe it was purely accidental
Now, properly built nuclear plants have multiple fail-safes, which work excellent if they were properly maintained, but we know how humans are *gestures to Chernobyl* about cutting corners and proper maintenance, so while some of the plants probably safely shut down and remain safe, others....well others don't.
Some areas would probably recover relatively quickly from radiation poisoning courtesy of location and environmental conditions, others would probably be dangerous for generations
And that's just ONE problem of many.
Humans panic easily just at a local grid failure, so imagine total global technological extinction. People have killed each other over literal burgers, so imagine society with something of this level.
Major dams failing from not being maintained, mass disease outbreaks from the loss of medicine and the ability to make it, invasive species throwing the ecosystem even further into chaos from there no longer being anyone keeping them in check.
As for how humans and cybertronians would be able to work together after they seemingly nuked them? Well it knocked them all into stasis instead of killing them, or at least most of them. And the human survivors generations after the initial wipe out have accidentally found a way to wake them up one by one. Maybe their memory is intact, maybe it isn't, maybe they're hostile upon waking, maybe they aren't, it just depends on who it is and how damaged their memory cores are.
And that's basically the gist of it. Run wild with it if anyone decides to take this up.

What's the prepper mindset for? Like. Should we be worried and if so then what should we be worried about? (saw the book post and that you mentioned 'prepper mindset' which makes me think of those survivalist ppl in usamerican reality shows who live in the middle of nowhere and hoard food? cuz that's only where I've seen it and even then I dont fully get it tho)
I mean, there's a lot of definitions of "prepper" out there, and those shows definitely show one possibility there. Gun nuts who hoard weapons are, unfortunately, another. But neither of those is quite what I'm going for myself...
For me personally, it's sort of a general desire to be prepared for emergencies. Most likely natural disasters, possibly terrorism or a civil war or some such.
The goal: have basic supplies at hand (food's a big one, and water, batteries/power packs, flashlights, extra clothes, some other basic tools, I'm not too concerned with weapons myself), know where they are, know how to use them.
Things like going off-grid or being able to live in the wilderness are part of some preppers' goals, but not mine. And I'm not terribly concerned about the end of civilization as we know it, either. I'm not trying to live in fear--I have an anxiety disorder, I don't need any extra fear there, lol.
But if you have the time, money, and energy for it--which I fortunately do--it doesn't hurt to get a little bit extra together just in case you end up being unlucky and have to deal with, say, a blizzard that knocks out your power, or a wildfire that's heading towards your house, or possibly some sort of terrorist attack or riot but those really are less likely than the above, especially for usamericans like myself.
Obviously those odds do shift based on location. Here in Chicago, I don't really have to be prepared for a hurricane, and earthquakes and volcanoes would also have to be something big and rare (New Madrid fault acting up again or Yellowstone megavolcano blowing, respectively). If I were in Florida, hurricane preparedness would be more important, but I could ditch blizzard supplies. And get outside the US and those odds might shift further--if you're in Ukraine, for instance, stuff for war and physical combat might well be one of the major concerns to prepare for.
Really, much of what I get is either just more of the stuff I'd use anyway (ex. I use battery packs for my phone regularly enough anyway, but instead of just having one or two, I have several as back-ups) or little things that might be handy to have even in a non-emergency situation and aren't difficult to buy or store just in case (ex. paper clips, rubber bands, safety pins... I might not have a specific plan for them but they're good to have on hand).
And I know the post you mentioned, and while it's not traditional prepper stuff, I do think that reading material, whether physical or electronic, is a good thing to have on hand just in case as well. A bit to learn new stuff, but mostly to stave off the boredom. ADHD brain wants options for how to spend time if the Internet goes down, and books and ebooks are a good solution there.

January's Guild Wars Journal
I've spent the last year or two really dragged into Guild Wars 2. I could gush about this game for hours, and I figured the best way to do that was to keep a monthly log of what I see and do. But first, we might need some context.
What the heck is Guild Wars 2?
Tumblr media
Guild Wars 2 is an MMO, and one of the best on the market in my opinion. I've dabbled in MMO's as a kid on a shitty laptop, they barely ran well and were usually F2P games that I couldn't afford to actually get into. The genre didn't really click with me until I played Final Fantasy XIV. A great game I poured over 5 years into that I feel like I mostly outgrew. No fault to the game itself, almost entirely my tastes changing as I got more familiar with the genre.
I floated from game to game until my buddy dragged me to try GW2 and man it was almost immediate. It's focus on exploration and attempts to encourage you to participate in the world hooked me in ways I didn't expect. The overworlds are these sprawling maps with ever increasing verticality. So far in my experience with the base game, the zones are filled to the brim with detailed interactions and a variety of boss events that often require at least 2 people to keep it from being too overwhelming.
Tumblr media
This is Golmelo. She's not my first character, but she's the first one that clicked with me after I started playing again.
She's a Sylvari, basically a tree person. They're born fully grown and are magically connected by "The Dream." It's kinda hard to describe as anything other than a shared subconscious. At the center of this all, The Pale Tree. A sort of benevolent God-King, for lack of a better term, to the Sylvari.
Currently in the plot, I'm in the middle of a grand plot involving Dragons, these supernatural forces of nature that corrupt the very land, and the various factions of Tyria who attempt to weaponize them.
But I'm not doing that right now.
Tumblr media
Guild Wars 2 is crafting heavy. I'll go into the details of it later, because it's a good, albeit mildly overwhelming, system. All you need to worry about is that, in this game you don't find your legendary weapons. You craft them. In this case, I'm going after a hammer.
Tumblr media
Mind you, I try to look up as little as possible for this game, but I've been needing to flex that a bit for this thing. That grid of icons are a list of crafting materials you get as rewards from completing tasks. Multiple high level materials with a requirement of 250 each. What appears to be raid/boss drop currency that I have to trade into specific npc's. And my current objective, that is the most practical to me, 100% completing the map of the base game.
If you haven't played GW2 it's kind of hard to tell you how dumbfuck big this game's map is. It's something you have to experience the first time by opening the world map and saying "Truly, it cannot keep going," only to keep scrolling with increasing distress.
So I'm doing 2 birds with one stone. I slacked on my crafting when I was first leveling cause I didn't get it at and was like "eh I don't need it" < Fool
But that's fine because being forced to run around and play catch up on areas I kinda ran through anyways, I can grab a bunch of the mats I missed the first time. It gives me a good supply for those low levels.
I'm currently cutting through the eastern part of the map, which includes the Shiverpeak Mountains and farther East of that is Ascalon, the land Unable To Catch Breaks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No seriously, that place is half "haunted forever war" and half "dragon crystal zombies".
Despite my very first character being a Charr and remaking one recently I never properly leveled any, so I just stayed away from their leveling areas. Being on this side of the map is brand new to me and I'm surprised by the new things I keep finding. Yeah I'm seeing a lot of reused enemies and assets here and there, but the locations are unique and the situations they have me in are different enough to create memorable moments.
Tumblr media
I didn't even do the event for this thing, I just went "ew" snapped a pic and left.
Speaking of weird things, check out this "melted mercury" lookin' stuff I found over in The Fields of Ruin.
Tumblr media
Funny enough, the main plot of the original release is about one specific Dragon rising up to be an immediate threat to all the races of Tyria. But, as I run around completing these maps, that's not a unique story. Other dragons, albeit more dormant, are also bringing about the apocalypse in their corners of the world. So much so that these groups are meeting on their own accord (including the rivaling Human factions). I'm sure this is a bigger point in the Charr's personal story, but the other races don't see this at all.
Tumblr media
This whole camp is a shared effort for the Charr and Humans to also come together and put their centuries of war aside.
It's moments like these that make me appreciate my friend in HS loredumping Guild Wars 1 on me more than a few times. Despite this game coming out 10 years ago seeing what I know to be a big deal between the two races is very satisfying to see first hand.
Tumblr media
(quick intervention for this amorpheous mass of a party that I watched go through this group of mobs like locusts)
As of writing this I'm 94% done with my world map completion. After this I'm probably gonna pivot to PvP to change things up since I've been at this for a few weeks (not playing everyday obviously). That will be fun to get into since it'll be a good way for me to really learn how pvp goes. I started on this around the last week of the month so the next post should be around this time or earlier.

As a solution architect, my career revolves around solving complex problems and designing systems that are scalable, secure, and efficient. The rise of cloud computing has transformed the way we think about technology, and Microsoft Azure has been at the forefront of this evolution. With its diverse and powerful technology stack, Azure offers endless possibilities for businesses and developers alike. My journey with Azure began with Microsoft Azure training online, which not only deepened my understanding of cloud concepts but also helped me unlock the potential of Azure’s ecosystem.
In this blog, I will share my experience working with a specific Azure technology stack that has proven to be transformative in various projects. This stack primarily focuses on serverless computing, container orchestration, DevOps integration, and globally distributed data management. Let’s dive into how these components come together to create robust solutions for modern business challenges.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Azure Ecosystem
Azure’s ecosystem is vast, encompassing services that cater to infrastructure, application development, analytics, machine learning, and more. For this blog, I will focus on a specific stack that includes:
Azure Functions for serverless computing.
Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for container orchestration.
Azure DevOps for streamlined development and deployment.
Azure Cosmos DB for globally distributed, scalable data storage.
Each of these services has unique strengths, and when used together, they form a powerful foundation for building modern, cloud-native applications.
1. Azure Functions: Embracing Serverless Architecture
Serverless computing has redefined how we build and deploy applications. With Azure Functions, developers can focus on writing code without worrying about managing infrastructure. Azure Functions supports multiple programming languages and offers seamless integration with other Azure services.
Real-World Application
In one of my projects, we needed to process real-time data from IoT devices deployed across multiple locations. Azure Functions was the perfect choice for this task. By integrating Azure Functions with Azure Event Hubs, we were able to create an event-driven architecture that processed millions of events daily. The serverless nature of Azure Functions allowed us to scale dynamically based on workload, ensuring cost-efficiency and high performance.
Key Benefits:
Auto-scaling: Automatically adjusts to handle workload variations.
Cost-effective: Pay only for the resources consumed during function execution.
Integration-ready: Easily connects with services like Logic Apps, Event Grid, and API Management.
2. Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): The Power of Containers
Containers have become the backbone of modern application development, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) simplifies container orchestration. AKS provides a managed Kubernetes environment, making it easier to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications.
Real-World Application
In a project for a healthcare client, we built a microservices architecture using AKS. Each service—such as patient records, appointment scheduling, and billing—was containerized and deployed on AKS. This approach provided several advantages:
Isolation: Each service operated independently, improving fault tolerance.
Scalability: AKS scaled specific services based on demand, optimizing resource usage.
Observability: Using Azure Monitor, we gained deep insights into application performance and quickly resolved issues.
The integration of AKS with Azure DevOps further streamlined our CI/CD pipelines, enabling rapid deployment and updates without downtime.

[UPDATE] AITA for trying to keep my friend safe?
Hi, I have an update regarding the last post I made. First of all, I’m going to start referring to my friend as S and my brother as K. Second, people have asked me a few questions, so I thought I’d answer them here since I haven’t had a lot of time to properly respond.
How did you twist the truth? / How bad was the lie?
I had convinced S that we’d be going away temporarily. Basically, I had done some pretty messed up stuff at the time, but was trying to get better. I didn’t feel like anyone really had any faith in me to improve, and the people I thought would be understanding and supportive didn’t quite believe me, including K. I told S that he and I were going to wait for everything to calm down before he and I would return. Of course, we never did, and when he found out he was quite upset. I got him to calm down and we came to an understanding, though.
Were you his legal guardian/next of kin?
When S’s mother was killed in a hit-and-run (long story, somewhat my fault), my parents took him in. I’m the eldest sibling in the family, so this would make me his legal older brother, I suppose. Regardless of that, people seem to insist that what I did was kidnapping.
With all that out of the way, lets get to the actual follow-up.
Basically, in between then and now I decided to go to a friend’s (~24, M) house to lay low and get some supplies. Let’s call this friend R. He and I met around six years ago, and even if we don’t talk often anymore, we’re still close. He helped me find a place to live after S and I decided to go into hiding, along with helping me hide my identity (S didn’t go out often if at all, so that wasn’t a problem for him). R doesn’t know I’m wanted by the police since he lives relatively off the grid and doesn’t watch the news often.
The thing is that I hadn’t told R about why S and I were going into hiding. When everything was initially happening five years ago, I had lied to R about my situation at home in order to “explain” why S and I were injured (explanation isn’t relevant, just know that S’s injuries have nothing to do with me whatsoever). On top of my stress regarding my current situation and the fact I’m having to lie so much to R, I feel like I’m failing to keep the promise to keep S safe that I had mentioned last post. I guess my distress was pretty noticeable since R asked me about it, and I trust him a lot, so I decided to tell him the truth behind everything. I dispelled all of the lies and told him what was going on.
He reacted very, very poorly to all of this. Obviously, I’m pretty upset with his reaction, especially considering that I thought he’d be understanding of everything. We start fighting with each other, at first verbally, but when he goes to call the police it escalates into physical violence. It’s still a bit blurry for me, but a gun ends up getting involved and he and I start fighting over it. One thing leads to another and, well, I end up shooting and killing him on complete accident.
I feel absolutely awful for killing him. I had no intention of hurting him at all—I had expecting everything to go well at the start, too. But I was also within my right to not only defend myself but also keep him from reporting my location to the authorities. He definitely would’ve held me at gunpoint to keep me in place had I not tried taking the firearm from him. Still, I did kill him, even if it was unintentional.
I’m starting to think that I’ve really been fucking everything up for the last few years now, but what else could I have done other than what I ended up doing? AITA?

DC Fast Charger Engineering Explained: Speed Meets Precision with AmperEVcharging
As electric vehicles (EVs) continue to rise in popularity, the demand for faster, smarter, and more efficient charging infrastructure is growing. One of the most essential components of this landscape is DC fast charger engineering. At AmperEVcharging, we specialize in creating tailored solutions that blend speed with precision, ensuring that EV owners spend less time charging and more time driving.
In this blog, we’ll break down what DC fast charger engineering involves, how it ties into broader EV charging station engineering, and why solid infrastructure design and permitting play such a crucial role in the process. Whether you're a property owner, developer, or business looking to adopt EV charging solutions, this guide will help you understand the essentials.
What is DC Fast Charger Engineering?
DC fast charger engineering refers to the specialized design and development of Direct Current (DC) charging systems that provide rapid power delivery to electric vehicles. Unlike AC chargers that convert electricity within the vehicle, DC chargers handle the conversion externally, sending high-voltage DC electricity straight to the battery. This allows for much faster charging—perfect for high-traffic locations or time-sensitive applications.
DC fast chargers typically range from 50 kW to over 350 kW, and the engineering behind them requires thoughtful planning, robust hardware design, and seamless integration into the existing power grid.
At AmperEVcharging, our engineering team focuses on building systems that prioritize safety, efficiency, and scalability, all while ensuring compatibility with a wide range of EV models.
The Role of EV Charging Station Engineering
Before a DC fast charger can be installed, there’s a larger picture to consider—EV charging station engineering. This encompasses everything from site evaluation and power availability to layout planning and utility coordination.
Key components include:
Electrical load analysis: How much power is available on-site and how much will the charging station need?
Cable routing and trenching plans: Ensuring the physical infrastructure supports safe and efficient installation.
Charger placement and accessibility: Stations need to be ADA-compliant and driver-friendly.
Safety systems and signage: From ground fault protection to fire safety and visibility.
AmperEVcharging works closely with clients to assess these needs early in the process. We provide full engineering design packages that guide your project from concept to completion.
Infrastructure Design: Building a Strong Foundation
Successful EV charging infrastructure design is not just about selecting a charger and plugging it in. It requires a strong foundation built on planning, coordination, and compliance. Without a well-thought-out design, projects can face costly delays or even fail to meet code requirements.
Key aspects of EV infrastructure design include:
Power capacity assessment: Can the location handle the load of multiple fast chargers?
Transformer and panel sizing: Upgrading electrical systems where needed.
Conduit and wiring specs: Ensuring materials meet local and national electrical codes.
Integration with solar or battery storage (optional): For clients interested in energy efficiency and cost savings.
At AmperEVcharging, we simplify this complex process. Our team creates custom infrastructure designs that align with your site's unique power capabilities and business goals.
Level 2 vs. DC Fast Charging: Understanding the Difference
While DC fast chargers are ideal for rapid charging, Level 2 EV charger design also plays a vital role in the charging ecosystem. Level 2 chargers provide AC power, usually offering 10-60 miles of range per hour of charging, depending on the vehicle and charger specs.
Level 2 chargers are perfect for workplaces, residential communities, and locations where vehicles are parked for several hours. They're more affordable to install and operate, making them a great entry point for businesses and property owners.
That said, DC fast chargers are essential for:
Highway corridors
Fleet depots
Urban centers
Busy commercial locations
Choosing between Level 2 and DC fast charging—or using both—is a decision best made during the engineering and planning phase, something AmperEVcharging helps clients evaluate based on traffic patterns, usage needs, and energy capacity.
Permit Drawings: The Blueprint Behind Success
Before installation can begin, one crucial step is the creation of EV charging permit drawings. These are detailed documents that illustrate the electrical layout, charger specifications, conduit paths, panel upgrades, safety elements, and more.
Permit drawings are essential for getting approval from the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and local utility providers. They must be accurate, code-compliant, and professionally prepared.
At AmperEVcharging, our engineers prepare comprehensive drawing sets tailored to your local codes. These often include:
Site plans
Electrical single-line diagrams
Load calculations
Trenching and conduit layouts
ADA accessibility design
Having accurate permit drawings in place helps avoid delays and speeds up approvals, giving you a clear roadmap for installation.
AHJ Permitting: Navigating Regulatory Compliance
One of the most important—and often misunderstood—steps in deploying EV charging stations is AHJ permitting for EV stations. The AHJ is the local building department or regulatory agency responsible for reviewing and approving your plans before construction begins.
The permitting process can involve:
Reviewing electrical and civil plans
Ensuring code compliance with NEC and local amendments
Fire safety and zoning reviews
Accessibility standards verification
Since each jurisdiction may have different requirements, working with a partner like AmperEVcharging ensures your project adheres to all applicable regulations. Our team coordinates directly with AHJs to expedite the review process and address any revisions quickly.
Utility Approval: The Final Green Light
Before flipping the switch on a new charging station, you’ll also need utility approval for EV chargers. Utilities want to ensure their grid can handle the additional demand and that your installation won't negatively impact surrounding infrastructure.
This step can involve:
Load studies and impact assessments
Transformer upgrades
Meter panel installation or changes
Demand response program eligibility
AmperEVcharging facilitates this process by working directly with utility companies on your behalf. We handle technical documentation, coordinate inspections, and ensure your installation meets utility requirements for connection and billing.
Why Precision Matters in DC Fast Charger Engineering
Engineering a DC fast charger isn’t just about speed—it’s about precision. When poorly designed, fast chargers can strain power systems, degrade vehicle batteries, and lead to safety hazards. With careful planning, however, they become reliable, efficient, and scalable assets.
At AmperEVcharging, precision is part of our core process:
