dodgers uninviting this iconic group of drag queens from their pride night. the mayor of anaheim personally invites them to the angels’ pride night. we absolutely love to see it…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mayor of Anaheim has invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to Angels Pride Night following the Dodgers disinviting the group to their own pride night, causing controversy.
The Los Angeles LGBT center and LA Pride have pulled out of the Dodgers Pride Night scheduled for June 16 after the team disinvited the Sisters of Perpetual of Indulgence, who some Catholic groups claimed was "mocking" their religion.
The Sisters were scheduled to not only attend Dodgers Pride Night, but also receive an award for their work.
The Sisters are a nonprofit that fundraises and volunteers for the LGBTQ+ community. They also sometimes dress in drag as nuns. But the group says they are not anti-religious, and that its mission is to spread joy and end hate.

Road Trip (NSFW) FT Nayeon and Tzuyu
Tumblr media
Author's Notes: I just wanted to write a short little 1500 word jaunt but no my brain made it 7500. No matter. It was a fun ride (Pun intended.) Not currently sure what the rest of the release schedule is going to be right now, but there will probably something smaller maybe two however enjoy this special holiday release.
Driving from Anaheim, California to Houston, Texas is the worst. It’s not the most terrible thing I’ve ever had to do, but it’s in the top 20. Still, it was worth it. I was going to see my favorite K-pop group, Twice, and I would fly back after dropping off the rental. "Take photos," my dad convinced me. So, here I was, driving thousands of miles.
During one of my photo ops stops, I noticed a broken down van, smoke billowing from the engine. Three people were standing outside of it. I sucked my teeth.
“Sucks to be them,” I thought. As I passed, something told me to stop. I didn’t want to, but I did so against my better judgment. I stopped and walked over to them.
“Hey, do y'all need help?” I called out.
A feminine, accented voice responded, “Oh God, yes!” As I neared, I recognized two of the three faces. It was the matnae and maknae of Twice.
“Ehh, Nayeon and Tzuyu?” I said, bewildered.
“Ehh?” Nayeon replied, “You know us?” She added, and I nodded. Tzuyu laughed.
“Good, so no intros needed. You asked if you could help us. Can you drive us to the hotel?”
Tzuyu ran up to me and hugged me tightly, her eyes holding the cutest puppy dog pout. I sighed, resigned to my fate, and said, “Sure, let’s grab your stuff and go.” That’s when you approached.
“Thank you so much,” you said. “I’ll make sure the company pays you back for this.” I shrugged at your words, but you insisted. We loaded everything into the car and raced off to the hotel (metaphorically, of course). On the ride there, it was Tzuyu and me in the front, with Nayeon and you in the back.
“So, what’s your name?” Tzuyu asked with a hint of flirtiness.
“DJ, and you… don’t answer that. I already know… sorry, muscle memory.” I replied. Tzuyu laughed at my gaffe, as did Nayeon. You, of course, got it. They’re stars while you and I are seemingly normal.
“So, who is your bias?” Nayeon inevitably asked.
“That’s a setup… but I’m stupid, so Tzuyu,” I replied confidently.
Nayeon laughed and scoffed, then looked at you with a “Can you believe him?” look.
“Oh, so I’m your favorite,” Tzuyu acknowledged. I nodded, then turned on the Bluetooth for the radio. Tzuyu began to rock out to my heavy playlist as it started.
“Ugh,” Nayeon scoffed.
“I can play other stuff. I take non-country requests,” I replied. You laughed at my response, as you had been catering to the diva for the past few days. Conversely, the maknae piped up,
“No, I like this music. Especially this band. Chaeyoung introduced me to them.”
“Wait! Really? Chaeyoung introduced you to Architects, Tzuyu?” I asked, intrigued.
Tzuyu nodded before saying, “But please call me Chewy.” I gave her a thumbs-up as I continued driving. As we landed in New Mexico, I decided to get some photo ops at the Area 51 museum. Before stopping, I apologized to the rest of the passengers.
“Sorry, just wanted to get some pictures,” I explained. You and the girls nodded as I got out. Nayeon, being her sexy but conceited self, asked me to take some pictures at a nearby station. I obliged, and she posed.
“Be sure to send me those later because I look sexy,” she said confidently. I nodded as Nayeon went back to you. Meanwhile, Chewy politely asked me to take some pictures of her, which I happily obliged.
Her photos bordered more on the cute side, but when she wasn’t taking photos, she made some quite suggestive and flirty comments.
For example, when I showed her one taken with a silly hat on, she said, “Oh, that’s so nice. You make me glow, but can you make me squirm and scream?” Her tone was hushed enough so only I could hear her. I turned to her, and she just gave an innocent smile as if she wasn’t spouting filth.
I chuckled, which she mirrored as we talked.
“So, DJ, are you a professional photographer?” Chewy asked politely.
“Nope, working on getting there though,” I replied.
Chewy nodded before asking another question, “What’s stopping you?”
I laughed and partially joked, “Mostly money and experience. Once I have those, I’ll be there.” Chewy laughed and said,
“Well, I think you’re pretty good.”
While we were talking, Nayeon scoffed, “Chewy is swooning.”
“Really?” you asked.
“Can’t you tell? She’s been extra doe-eyed with him. She’s going to eat him alive, but that’s just her. She always goes for the kind and naive ones.”
“Hey, you used to be like that too, if memory serves correctly,” you countered.
“We were in high school, and I didn’t know any better,” Nayeon rebuked, and you laughed.
“Let Chewy have her moment. He seems nice.”
“That’s the problem,” Nayeon scoffed. While no one was looking, though, she leaned in and sneaked a kiss on your cheek.
“Thank you for ‘being my manager’ for this tour. I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather have,” Nayeon admitted. You smiled at her words before saying,
“You’re welcome, Nabong.” Nayeon’s lips curled upwards in a mischievous grin.
“I think I may need one of your full-body massages,” Nayeon said, emphasizing the word “massage,” letting you know what she meant. You smirked and said,
“Anything for my favorite bunny.”
After taking pictures, I continue the drive to the hotel. Conveniently, we're all staying at the same place.
You, Nayeon, and Tzuyu check in while I search for parking. When I finally enter, I try to be discreet.
"Um, one room for Dracul Bram?" I ask in a low tone. The hostess looks at my ID, then up at me with a confused but amused grin.
"Room 104," she says, "behind the check-in station and around the corner." I give her a thumbs-up and head towards my room.
I would have made it if not for someone behind me calling out, "DJ, where are you going?" I turn to see Chewy waving me over. She’s at the bar with you, Sana, another manager, and Nayeon. Resigned, I join you all.
As I approach, Sana laughs and says, "Oh wow, you’re so tall." I shrug, while you notice Chewy glaring at Sana. You chuckle internally, recognizing that Chewy is interested in me. Nayeon shoots you a knowing look, also noticing Chewy's reaction.
When I sit down, Sana quickly starts her flirty "interview."
"So, DJ, I hear you're quite the photographer?" Sana purrs.
"Um, still an amateur. I lack the funds and experience to be considered 'professional,'" I reply. Sana smirks.
"So why don't we help you get more experience? How would you feel about being my photographer for the concert in Houston?" My mind stalls as I try to process her proposal. The air grows thick, and while I'm dumbfounded, Tzuyu glares at her unnie. You and Nayeon laugh, recognizing the game Sana is playing. Chewy, completely unaware, takes the bait.
"But unnie, I thought you liked Mark a lot more. Maybe you should take him, and I'll take DJ?" Chewy proposes.
"Game, set, match," Nayeon whispers in your ear.
Sana smiles and replies to Chewy, "I don't know. You said DJ takes really good pictures, and I haven't seen them yet..." Before Sana can finish, Chewy quickly says,
"Fine... I'll take the room with Dahyun," Chewy sighs.
"Deal," Sana quickly agrees with a smile. I'm still reeling from the initial proposal as this deal unfolds around me.
Before I can fully process what just happened, the bartender approaches, asking for our drink orders. Chewy, still flustered from her exchange with Sana, quickly orders a soda. Nayeon orders a cocktail, and Sana, with a smirk, opts for something stronger. You and I both go for something simple, trying to keep up with the rapid-fire interactions around us.
"DJ, how did you end up driving from California?" Nayeon asks, leaning forward with genuine curiosity.
"Well, I wanted to see you guys perform and take some photos along the way. My dad thought it would be a good idea," I explain, feeling slightly more comfortable now that the conversation has shifted to neutral territory.
Chewy brightens at this. "So, you like road trips and photography? That's a fun combination."
"Yeah, it's been an adventure," I admit, smiling at her enthusiasm. "And now, unexpectedly, I'm here with you all."
Sana, not one to let the spotlight shift too far, interjects, "Well, it's lucky for us that you stopped to help. Nayeon and Chewy would have  been stranded otherwise." Her tone is light, but there's a genuine appreciation beneath it.
"Definitely," you agree, raising your glass in a toast. "To unexpected adventures."
Everyone raises their glasses, and the mood relaxes further. As we chat, Nayeon nudges you and whispers something in your ear, causing both of you to laugh.
Chewy, noticing this, leans in closer to me. "So, DJ, tell me more about your photography. What kind of subjects do you like to shoot?"
I start to answer, but I'm interrupted by a sudden buzz from Nayeon's phone. She glances at it and then groans. "It's our manager. He needs us for a quick meeting."
Sana rolls her eyes but stands up. "Duty calls. DJ, it was nice meeting you. Don't forget about our deal."
Chewy stands up reluctantly, giving me a small, shy smile. "I'll see you later, DJ."
As they head off, you stay behind for a moment. "You handled that well," you say, clapping me on the shoulder. "Welcome to the world of K-pop chaos."
I laugh, feeling more at ease. "Thanks. I think I'm going to need all the help I can get."
"You'll be fine," you assure me. "Just keep being yourself. They seem to like you already."
With that, you head off to join the others, leaving me at the bar to reflect on the whirlwind of the evening. As I sit there, I can't help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness about what the next few days will bring.
I decide to pay the tab before finishing my drink and heading to my room. I upload the picture to my tablet before sending the photos to Chewy and Nayeon. While going over them one of the pictures of Chewy stands out. I send it to my phone and make it my wallpaper while keeping my home screen something more nerdy. After that, I decided it was for the best if I went to sleep for the night.
After I finally got comfortable and passed out you and the rest of the girls get out of your meeting. Nayeon Dramatically absconds with you to her room while Chewy checks her phone she notices my pictures. She smiles and sends me a cute little message. She is a little sad when I don't respond. She also decided to turn early.
You on the other enter your room hand in hand with Nayeon. She beams at you ready for her “massage”. She begins to strip for you and your smile grows wide.
“You always look like a kid in a candy store,”
You smile then reply, “With how hot you are can you blame me?” Nayeon grins and looks at you happily.
“Oh, I'm going to enjoy this,” she lies on the bed and spreads her long legs. You marvel at her thick thighs and buoyant ass. Nayeon beams as you stare at her “Well come on fuck me,” she says with an arrogant smile that drives you wild wild. You strip to her as she does her “sexy” shimmy she does whenever she's feeling herself. You line yourself up with her entrance. You rub her clit and pussy with your rod as she patiently waits. After a few minutes of teasing, she jams you inside her.
“Oh yes,” she moans as you bottom out in her. Her tightness takes your breath away as you wait for her to stop clenching you. When her body finally acclimated you begin to thrust in and out of her. She moans uncontrollably as you begin to thrust harder and harder.
“Yes, Yes, Yes,” she moans deliriously from the pleasure. You groan as you feel her tighten before she climaxes. You watch as her body arches back and her slick floods out of her. As she covers you cock and crotch in her cum you keep fucking her until you reach your high. You flood her with semen as you reach your orgasm. As the two of you come down from your mutual high you gaze at the clock.
“Shit! We can't do anymore because we have to get up early tomorrow,” you say stressed Nayeon nods before and the both of you pass out.
I wake up early the next morning, shower, get changed, and get ready for the day. When I walk out, you, Sana, the other manager from last night, and Chewy are all waiting for me.
“Oh good, we didn't miss you. Congratulations, you've been selected to drive in Twice’s caravan,” you say to me.
I blink a couple of times before saying, “Huh?”
Chewy laughs and responds, “We are still missing one van, so we figured since we are all going to the same place, you could help us out again.” I process the information slowly.
Confused, I look at the group and realize that I’ve been temporarily enlisted into Twice’s caravan. Today, I’ll be driving the manager (Sam), Sana, and Chewy. I blink a few times but relent, “You all know I'm flying back, right?” I ask, concerned.
You nod and say, “As are we.”
I shrug and say, “Well, okay then.”
You clap your hands together. “Good, see you at the next hotel in Houston.” I nod quietly as I pack up. The girls and Sam follow me to the car. As we load up, Sana asks, “Hey DJ, you're big and strong. Can you help me with my bags?” I nod and lift her bags into the trunk. Sana smiles and caresses my arms.
“I knew you could do it,” she says seductively. I nod as Sana goes to sit. Chewy walks close to me, and instinctively I load up her bags. Chewy smiles, and we get ready to go. She takes her seat in the front with me. As I check to see if everyone is buckled, Sana flashes me a flirty smile. Once everyone is secure, I start driving.
Fifteen minutes into the drive, Chewy asks me what music she should put on. I catch myself before saying, “Put on Lorgar’s audiobook.” Instead, I suggest she put on the Whiplash playlist. She does so and is surprised when "Perfect World" by Twice is the first song. I catch the smiles aimed at me, then the confused look when the second song, "Backbreaker" by Fit For a King, comes on. Initially, my passengers are confused, but as they listen to more of the playlist, they start vibing with me.
After about six hours of driving, we make our first stop at a gas station. I take a few pictures of the desert and plains, which Sana sneaks her way into. When I finish, she gets close to me and says, “Oh, you're really good.” I thank her for the compliment, while also noticing Chewy sitting a little way off with a forlorn but cute pose. I snap a few photos before going into the convenience store section of the gas station and grabbing her a snack. When I walk out toward her, I sit next to her and hand her the snack. She looks at me and pouts, “I can't eat that. It will go straight to my thighs.”
I raise an eyebrow. “And why would that be bad? You have the sexiest thighs,” I say. Tzuyu giggles.
“You're just saying that,” she responds. I shake my head, resisting the impulse to pull her closer.
“You are super pretty, and I think one honey bun won't be the end of the world. Fifteen in two hours, though…that might be a problem,” I joke. Tzuyu smiles and leans on my shoulder.
Sana and Sam watch from a distance.
“Oh, she's got him,” Sam says with a laugh. Sana nods with a pout.
“He just looks so cuddly,” Sana laments.
“Yeah, I get that, but you get all the attention. Let Chewy have this one,” Sam replies.
Sana pouts again. “Okay.”
When we all get back into the car, the next song up is "In the Mouth of Madness" by Nightmares. Chewy enjoys it and asks about their other albums. I wince as I tell her this is their only one. She frowns but understands. After that, "Cheer Up" comes on, garnering a few more smiles.
"You like us," Chewy says.
I nod and reply, "Well, yeah. If it weren't for you all, I wouldn't have gotten through the pandemic. I was alone and isolated for most of it, and you nine got me through by being this giant pastel pink sign saying, 'Things will get better!' So I fought on." Chewy smiles warmly.
Sam hears this and says, "The little Once that could." I chuckle along with the rest of the car.
After a few more hours, we arrive at the last hotel. Curiously, we are the first to arrive, beating out the rest of the vans. Cameras and flashes surround the car as we step out. Momentarily blinded, I grab Sana's and Chewy's bags and help them check-in. When I go to check into my hotel, Sam stops me.
"We got you a room," he says. I nod and gratefully take the room key as we head to the elevator.
"Chewy likes you," he says out of the blue.
"What? No," I scoff.
Sam's eyes narrow. "Yes, she does. I have never seen her this engaged with someone, especially someone outside of Twice."
"She's just being nice," I say, still in disbelief.
Sam rolls his eyes as we exit the elevator. "You say that, but she loves the whole knight-in-shining-armor thing. She eats it up, and you being the bashful knight type—she's going to eat you alive."
"You make it sound like she's a maneater," I respond, confused.
Sam grins wickedly before entering his room. "She is, but she has picky tastes. Anyway, be careful—or not."
Left alone with a lot to process, I lie down and think about the day.
"Do I like Chewy back?" I ponder.
"If I do, am I willing to give up my anonymity to be with her?"
My thoughts halt when I get a DM from Chewy saying, "Hey, can you come to my room? I need help ordering food." Without hesitation, I go. My heart had already chosen for me. When I get to her room, she’s in shorts and a crop top with a giant heart shape on it. She smiles at me.
"That was fast," she teases.
I smile and say, "Well, anything for royalty, I guess." She looks confused.
"Your song, 'Queen of Hearts,' and your shirt," I explain. Chewy looks down and laughs.
"Okay, I thought that was your first humor miss."
"I am always missing," I reply. Chewy smiles and pats the bed next to her. I walk and lie down next to her. She nestles closer as I help her order room service, wrapping herself around me tightly.
A knock on the door interrupts us. I go to open it, and Dahyun, Sana, Nayeon, and Jihyo arrive, along with you, Sam, and another manager, this one female.
"So, you're the Machine God I’ve been hearing so much about. The name's Sara," the female manager says, amused.
I look at her, confused.
Sara rolls her eyes as she says, "Oh, don't give me that puzzled look. You drove here straight without any breaks except a couple of stops for gas."
I nod, understanding now, as I walk back to the bed with Chewy. When I sit back down, you and Nayeon notice how Chewy moves her legs onto my lap.
"Oh, someone is staking her claim," you whisper calmly.
Nayeon whispers back, "I wonder how long until she drops the shyness and he sees her true self."
"Oh, it'll happen before we head back. I can see it in her eyes. She wants him badly, and she's barely containing herself. We probably delayed it tonight."
"What was that?" Sara asked, catching your whispered conversation with Nayeon.
"Oh, nothing, just discussing what we should order for room service after we leave," you reply quickly.
Sara isn't convinced. "Right," she says sarcastically, before turning to me.
"So, DJ, what does DJ stand for?"
Expecting this question, I sigh. "Promise not to laugh?" Everyone looks at me, puzzled but nods.
"My name is Dracul Marcus Bram Jr., but my family calls me DJ," I say. The room falls silent before Sara responds.
"Okay, I see why you prefer DJ, but I think Dracul is pretty badass." I give a thumbs up and try to blend back into the group dynamics. The doorbell rings, and Chewy jumps up excitedly. "I'll get it, Drac," she says, kissing me on the cheek. My mind blanks for a moment. I sit there, stunned, as Chewy fetches the food and returns. Seeing my dumbfounded expression, she smiles.
"What's wrong?" she asks.
Still processing, I hear Sam laughing. When I finally regain my composure, I feel an unexpected calm and confidence.
"I just didn't expect that," I reply. Everyone hears the newfound steadiness in my voice and is taken aback. Usually, when Tzuyu shows her real self to someone she likes, they become more timid. This is the first time anyone has taken her advances in stride.
Tzuyu feels a shift inside herself. In her mind, I transform from "Cute Teddy Bear" to "I want this man to father my children," though only for a moment before settling on "Datable Material."
The silence grows uncomfortable, so I say, "The food looks good, Chewy. We should eat before it gets cold." For the first time, Chewy is the one flustered. She giggles and smiles, bringing the food over. She got a burger, and I got a quesadilla—though it might have been called something else, it had all the ingredients.
Tzuyu and I eat comfortably while the others watch. You notice a change in our body language. We're no longer timidly stealing glances or shyly flirting. Chewy gives me ravenous looks, and I reciprocate with calm, measured passion. If you were more observant, you would have noticed our touches growing more frequent until we were holding hands.
The atmosphere between us shifts. Instead of a bashful princess and her shy knight, we exude the air of two confident equals—me, the composed diplomat, and her, the assertive Empress. Her eyes say she wants to devour me, and I feel the same urge. Yet, with an audience, the battle must wait. We're so engrossed in our little world that we don't notice the others leaving until the door closes and Dahyun says, “Goodbye.” We wave politely, but as soon as the door closes, Chewy grabs me and pulls me in for an emotional, sloppy kiss.
I love it and let her take the lead this time. She broke the kiss. She was frantic, “should I go fast? Should I savor you and make a mess of you?” Tzuyu said as her mind raced.
I smirked and calmly replied, “It's not a race,”
Tzuyu gave me the sexiest and most ferocious glare before she said “I am going to drain every single last drop of cum from you and make you scream my name all night,” I surrender to her fervor this time as she brings me in for another kiss. I guess savage maknae wasn't a cute nickname. Her kisses were messy but also extremely hot. She was vicious but she knew what she wanted and I was going to let her have it.
While she kissed me I felt her hand slip into my sweatpants. I feel her hand reach my rod and she begins to slowly stroke.
She breaks the kiss and stares at me luridly.
“Ah Tzuyu,” I moan out. Tzuyu smiles
“Whose cock is this?” she asks innocently
“Yours,” I moan she nods happily.
“Good. Now I'm going to suck my cock and you're going to paint my face. Can you do that for me?” she asks hungrily. I nod as she pushes my sweatpants down and moves to my cock. She continues her glacial pace that I both hate and love. She looks up at me her gaze is ferocious as she devours me. Drool pools around my shaft as sloppily engorged herself. She comes up for air and resumes stroking me.
“Do you like it?” she asks innocently. I nod helplessly. She goes to my frenulum and teases it with her tongue. I moan her name again. She smiles and goes back down on me. I try to hang on but everything about what she's doing to me has me on edge. I tilt her face up bring her lips back to mine and kiss her. Her eyes are wide the entire time with surprise but she happily accepts the kiss. When we break it she smiles.
“I appreciate your adoration,” she says before slapping me,
“But tonight I'm in control,” she says firmly I nod.
“I'll let that transgression slide because you're so cute, but next time I won't be so forgiving,” I nod and feel my cock twitch in her hand. She notices
“Are you close babe?” she asks sweetly. I nod and she does everything in her power to get the largest load possible.
“Oh fuck Tzuyu,” I scream out as I cum all over her face. She smiles as she gets up. She sauntered off like a satiated predator. As I lay there the weight of what just happened hits me. My cock despite having just orgasmed is still rock hard and overwhelming my body with thoughts of pinning Tzuyu down and railing her. When she does get back she is fully nude and sauntering back for seconds. Our eyes narrow as both our predatory natures rise to the surface. Who will be the first to submit? we ask each other with our eyes. I get up and approach her I strip down as well before reaching her. She looks up into my eyes. I see vulnerability but also a deep fathomless lust. I kiss her forehead which makes her smile acutely and then I bend her over the bed and impale her.
“Oh fuck Dracul,” she yells as I fully rest myself inside her. I wait for her to stop shaking, and then I start thrusting. Tzuyu loses it as my cock ravages her pussy. I put one hand on her hips and the other firmly groped her breast. She moans uncontrolled. I take my time with her body searching for the best angles hoping to get her off. Eventually, I find the winning combination of thrusts, touches, and kisses as she yells, “fuck Dracul I'm cumming.” her womanhood tensed and tightened around me before she squirted profusely over my cock. When she finishes I pump my load into her causing her to orgasm again.
We fall into bed and pass out after that when I wake up we are spooning and my cock is still deep within her. Feeling me stir she moans as she jolts awake she turns to me and trapezes on top of me before she begins to ride me. Her hands pin mine as she aggressively ruts and grinds into me like an animal in heat. With her ferocious tempo neither of us last long as we cum together. She smiles as she gets off of me and my cum drips down her thighs.
She goes to shower, giving me a chance to do the same in my room. When I finish, I notice a message on my phone:
“I didn't say you could leave. Meet me downstairs for breakfast.”
Tzuyu’s possessiveness is both sexy and annoying, but I comply. When I arrive, she’s sitting with Chaeyoung and Dahyun, looking relaxed and pleased. I grab a light breakfast of an omelet and toast and join them. They all smile and wave as I sit down.
“So, you're DJ?” Chaeyoung asks. I nod and extend my hand for a shake, which she accepts. Then, I surprise them by praying over my food.
While we eat, you and Nayeon join us. You notice a few bite marks on my neck and discreetly point them out to Nayeon, who laughs more openly. When Dahyun asks about it, you casually say, “Inside joke.”
You grab a plate for Nayeon, who’s “too exhausted” to do much herself. As you sit back down, Nayeon gives you a mischievous glance before turning to Tzuyu and me.
“So, Tzuyu, did you enjoy DJ last night?” she asks.
I laugh and start to get up, but Tzuyu grabs the edge of my shirt, stopping me. I sit back down as she responds, “I did. He was great. Why? Are you jealous?”
The group falls silent. You look at a stunned Nayeon, then an amused Tzuyu. I marvel at Tzuyu, who turns to me and asks,
“So, what are your plans for today?”
I take a moment to gather my thoughts before replying, “Well, I was planning to visit a couple of tourist sites, play some Commander, and then catch the Rockets game tonight.”
Tzuyu eyes me cautiously before responding, “Okay, but get back as quickly as you can. I have some things I want to discuss with you for tomorrow’s concert. We have a soundcheck today.”
I nod and ask when the soundcheck is. She gives me the time, and I reply, “Oh, I can make that.”
Tzuyu smiles and says, “Perfect!”
After breakfast, we all split up. Tzuyu corners me, and I can see the arousal in her eyes.
“Do you think you could spend more quality time with me tonight?” she asks. I nod, and she smiles before kissing me. Her tongue pierces down my throat, leaving me breathless.
“Be ready. Yesterday, I only got a taste, but tonight I'm going to devour you,” she says firmly, making me squirm. I nod and give her a timid thumbs-up, fighting the urge to let her have me right there. Tzuyu smiles as she walks away.
When I get to my rental car, you manage to find me.
“My boss has been looking over your work, and he's impressed. He wants to offer you a spot for the rest of the tour,” you tell me. I sit in the car, shocked, before responding,
“How much would the pay be? I’d have to quit my job.”
You eye me nervously and ask, “How does USD 150,000 for the rest of the stops sound?”
I blink at you a couple of times, then calmly say, “That works.”
You also hand me a check for $30,000 to cover the rental, gas, and any other minor expenses. I look at you and sigh.
“I’m going to use this to buy more professional camera equipment since everything else is already accounted for and budgeted,” I reply.
You smile and say, “Well, then you'd better hurry.”
I nod and leave, allowing you to go back to Nayeon with a dumb grin on your face.
Nayeon smiles and says, "Based on your look, I assume he took the deal."
You laugh, relieved, and nod, replying, "Yes, and the dummy is using the money to buy more professional gear."
Nayeon gives you a confused look before asking, "Wait, why is that dumb?"
"Well, short answer: we were going to have him use the gear we already had. But since he's doing all this work to get better, newer gear, we get a return on the rentals. So he's saving us money, and we don’t get used gear. Plus, he's the only one liable,” you say, elated.
Nayeon nods and laughs at my over-eagerness. “Okay, great! Now we
have some unfinished business,” Nayeon replies.
You approach your starlet with the fervor she deserves. She smiles as she watches you strip bare excited to have you inside her once again. You approach her bare body and begin to kiss her feet, because if there is one thing that Nayeon loves it's being worshiped. so you start with kissing her feet, then you meander to her thighs where you let loose upon them. You spent almost an hour kissing biting and licking her thighs until Nayeon couldn't take it anymore
"Fuck me till I beg you to stop" She whined. You smiled before taking your cock out and plunging into her.
"Ah Fuck," Nayeon moaned as her pussy acted more like a constricting snake than the bunny she moonlighted as. you moan as you impale her.
"how are you still so tight?" you ask. Nayeon laughs as she coils around you tightening her pussy even more.
You two begin to fuck in earnest. You grind ruthlessly into each other's hips as both of you attempt to maximize pleasure for yourselves. You loved that you could be as selfish as you wanted being Nayeon's lover because she was equally as selfish. it made all things with her so honest. you lift her hips to get deeper trying to hit her cervix which Nayeon loved despite the soreness it gave her. when you feel your tip hit her cervix Nayeon moans, and you keep pounding into her tight pussy.
Her walls continue to get tighter miraculously as you push in and out of her forcing her to take more and more of you. her eyes roll into the back of her head as her tits bounce due to the force of your thrust into her. her blissed-out face makes you smile, and yet somehow her pussy tightens around you again. As she starts convulsing she starts cumming violently around your cock. you groan and push through feeling her walls forcibly trying to milk you. you push past the tightness and look at her.
"I love how fast you cum Nabong. It's so hot," you say as Nayeon moans all around you. you keep thrusting into her while her mind is broken by the pleasure she feels. eventually, you can't hold it anymore and you cum inside of her. You moan as she moans your name before flooding her guts with your seed. After that, she begs you not to go again due to her sensitivity.
While Nayeon and you were having fun, I was getting a myriad of things done throughout the city. After finishing lunch, I got a text from Tzuyu asking me to meet her at the soundcheck, which was a bit earlier than anticipated. So I headed to the venue. I was stopped at the gate by security, but just then, Jeongyeon arrived. She laughed at me waiting and said to the security guard,
"Why is Tzuyu's photographer being held up by you?" The man went pale. Jeongyeon grabbed me and took me with her.
"You're lucky I was here; otherwise, you'd have been stuck until we left," she teased.
"Thanks, Jeongyeon-noon," I said. Jeongyeon looked at me, disgusted.
"Nope, I hate it. Just call me Jeongyeon," she said firmly. I nodded.
"One last question. Do you know where Tzuyu will be?" Jeongyeon nodded and had me follow her.
We arrived at the staging room. She opened the door, and Tzuyu looked up, making eye contact with me before her face erupted into a smile and a light giggle. Jeongyeon smiled and said, "Don't have too much fun, lovebirds," and then left for another area.
Tzuyu scowled, then turned to me with a happy smile, beckoning me to sit next to her by patting the couch. She hugged me and said, "What took you so long, babe?"
I replied plainly, "I didn't have any credentials according to the security guard, and Mal couldn't vouch for me." Tzuyu nodded as she cuddled me.
"Did you have fun before at least?" she asked happily. Dahyun walked in before I could answer.
Her cute, bewildered look was adorable as she asked, "OH! Am I interrupting something?" I shook my hands, and Tzuyu confirmed she wasn't.
Dahyun sat next to us and pulled out her phone. "I was mostly doing banking stuff since Mal gave me a check for helping you all."
Tzuyu nodded and smiled, "Okay, well, it's good to see you." I gave Chewy a thumbs-up, and she smiled. Dahyun took the lull in the conversation to talk to me.
"So, DJ. How are you feeling about all of us so far?"
"I love it. This is the most... interesting time I have had in a while, so I can't complain too much." Dahyun smiled and said,
"That's great."
I nodded at Dahyun as Chewy nestled closer. As we settled in, a camera flashed. Stunned and confused, I waited for my eyes to readjust, then saw Sara and Sana holding their phones, laughing.
Sara turned to Sana and said, "Oh, got the two lovebirds nesting." Sana laughed with Sara as they walked out. Chewy held me tighter. About 18 minutes later, all of the girls were called for the full run-through. I got up, but before I could join them, you stopped me and handed me multiple badges.
"Here are your badges for the soundcheck and tomorrow's concert," you said firmly. I nodded.
You nodded then said, "Now I know you are hired to be Tzuyu's photographer, but feel free to get some shots of the other girls here and there." I nodded in affirmation.
"Great. Now, last thing: have fun. This is meant to be work, but nothing says we can't enjoy it. Although, based on the noises I heard last night, you certainly know how to have fun."
I laughed and threw you a curveball, "Yeah, I’m sure you do as well with Nayeon." You looked at me, shocked.
"You picked up on that?" you asked, bewildered.
I nodded and said, "Just because it seems like I am not paying attention doesn't mean I am not."
You nodded before saying, "Remind me not to underestimate you."
I smiled and said, "Don't worry, everyone does."
You furrowed your brow, then said, "I won't make a habit of it. So, what did you get today?"
"I got the Nikon Z6III, a Z8, and Z9 cameras, and five various Z-mount lenses."
"Wow, you must like Nikon, but question. Why only on hold? You need them, right?"
"I do, but not right now, and I am waiting for the check to clear. So if you are messing with me, I'll know beforehand."
You considered my words. "Hm, that's quite cunning of you."
I shrugged and replied, "If you think so." You laughed before signing off.
I spent the rest of the soundcheck recording videos and taking pictures while weaving in and out of the "crowds." You watched from afar and noticed my shooting style. It's exceptionally patient, which you found surprising, but you didn't watch me for long as your manager duties and your love for a specific bunny-associated idol forced you to pivot your focus constantly. after the Soundcheck, I head back to my rental followed by Chewy, Mina, and Chaeyoung. we hop in and Mina says,
"So Mr. Bram if that is your real name I have a question for you. What are your intentions without Maknae?" I look at her then Chewy then at Chaeyoung. I consider saying something dumb but decide on the rational option.
"I like her and I hope she likes me back. otherwise, just take it slow I guess," Mina eyes me suspiciously but relents.
When we arrive back at the hotel I was expecting a quiet night with Chewy, but I am quickly thrust into a party with the rest of Twice as they get out their pre-concert jitters.
it was hectic among other things. there was drinking, karaoke, dancing, and other shenanigans. I was able to steal a few moments with Chewy and we were able to discuss the photos I took today. She also liked the photos I took of the other members.
"Hey, lovebirds. No discussing work," a drunk Nayeon said to us as we chatted on the edge of the "party."
I tapped out at about 12:45 AM, while the Extroverts of the group plus Nayeon (she is an honorary extrovert) Mina, Jeongyeon, and Momo kept going. I got to my room and was surprised to hear a knock on the door. I open it and Chewy is waiting outside. I wince before saying,
"I am sorry Chewy but I can't do anything else tonight." Chewy smiles before saying
"Good me too. I just wanted to cuddle tonight." I give her a thumbs up and we get in the bed before passing out. I wake up before her and shower. after the shower, she looks at me with a hungry look. I sigh and say,
"As much as I would like to spend more time with you I have too much to do." Chewy rolls her eyes before getting up to kiss me and then shower herself.
"Fine but can I ride with you?" I nod and we get ready.
fast forward we pick up the cameras and lenses. I also pick up more memory and a few other essentials. I charge all of them at the hotel as Chewy and I float around doing our various concert preparations. When we have to leave you and Sara ride with me while the girls ride together. We arrive at the venue and it's on from there.
I hustled around the venue, my camera clicking away as I captured the energy of the final preparations. The air was thick with excitement and a touch of nervousness. Tzuyu spotted me from across the room and made her way over, her face lighting up with a smile.
“Wish me luck,” she whispered, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek. Her eyes sparkled with determination.
“You don’t need it, but good luck anyway,” I replied, grinning back at her.
The lights dimmed, and the roar of the crowd surged through the arena. The concert had begun. I moved through the crowd, capturing the electrifying performances, the fans’ ecstatic faces, and the sheer energy of the night.
Now and then, Tzuyu would glance my way, our eyes meeting for a brief moment amidst the chaos, a silent connection that kept me grounded.
After the concert, the atmosphere was jubilant. The group members hugged each other, celebrating their success.
Tzuyu found me in a quieter corner, her face glowing with happiness and exhaustion.
“Thank you for being here,” she said, pulling me into a tight hug. “Not just for the photos, but for me.”
“Anytime,” I replied, holding her close. she tried to protest due to being sweaty and smelly but I informed her that we were well past that
Just then, you approached us, holding an official-looking document. “Well, you made it. (I nod) I take it you had fun? (I nod again) Good well there is only one last bit of business. Are you willing to do the rest of the tour?”
I looked at Tzuyu. Her eyes were hopeful, yet she remained silent, not wanting to sway my decision. I thought about the journey, the connections I had made, and the possibilities that lay ahead.
“I’d love to,” I said, smiling as I took the contract. Tzuyu beamed with joy.
As the celebration continued, Tzuyu and I slipped away to a quieter spot on the rooftop, overlooking the city lights. The night was cool, and the city seemed to sparkle just for us.
“We did it,” Tzuyu said, leaning against the railing, her hand entwined with mine.
“We did,” I agreed, looking out at the horizon. “And it’s just the beginning.”
“Promise me something,” she said, turning to face me. “No matter how crazy things get, we make time for moments like this.”
“Promise,” I said, sealing it with a kiss.
We stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, the city lights casting a soft glow around us. At that moment, I felt a sense of peace and anticipation. The future was uncertain, but it was bright, filled with endless possibilities.
As the night wore on, I reflected on my journey. From a chance encounter to this incredible moment, I found love, friendship, and a new path in life. And for the first time in a long while, I was truly excited for what lay ahead.
Tzuyu and I shared a final kiss under the stars, ready to face whatever the future held, together.

Why Millennials aren’t leaving Tiktok
Tumblr media
I'm on tour with my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me TOMORROW NIGHT (Mar 22) in TORONTO, then SUNDAY (Mar 24) with LAURA POITRAS in NYC, then Anaheim, and more!
Tumblr media
The news that Gen Z users have abandoned Tiktok in such numbers that the median Tiktoker is a Millennial (or someone even older) prompted commentators to dunk on Tiktok as uncool by dint of having lost its youthful sheen:
https://www.garbageday.email/p/tiktok-millennials-turns
But "why are Gen Z kids leaving Tiktok?" is the wrong question. The right question is, why aren't Millennials leaving Tiktok? After all, we are living through the enshittocene, the great enshittening, in which every platform gets monotonically, irreversibly worse over time, and Tiktok is no exception:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/#hey-guys
To understand why older users are stuck to Tiktok, we need to start with why younger users relentlessly seek out new platforms. To some extent, it's just down to youth's appetite for novelty, but that's only part of the story. To really understand why people come to – and leave – platforms, you have to understand switching costs.
"Switching costs" is the economists' term for everything you have to give up when you change products or services. Switching from Ios to Android probably means giving up a bunch of your apps and purchased media. Switching from an airline where you're a high-status frequent flier to another carrier means giving up on free checked bags and early boarding.
In an open market, rivals have lots of ways to lower these switching costs (it's an open secret that you can call an airline and say, "Hi, I'm a 33rd Order Mason on American Airlines, will you make me a Triple Platinum Diamond Sky-Baron if I switch to Delta?"). Of course, big incumbents hate this, and do everything they can to increase their switching costs, finding ways to impose high switching costs that punish disloyal consumers who have the temerity to go elsewhere.
With social media, lock-in comes for free, thanks to the "collective action problem." Getting people to agree on a given course of action is hard, and as you add more people to the picture, the problem gets harder. It's hard enough to get half a dozen people in your group-chat to agree on where to go for dinner or what board-game to play. But once you're reliant on a social media service to stay in touch with friends, relatives around the world, customers, communities (say, rare disease support groups), and coordination (like organizing your kid's little league car-pool), the problem becomes nearly insoluble. Maybe you can convince your overseas relatives to switch to a Signal group, but can you do the same for your small business's customers, or your old high-school pals?
https://pluralistic.net/2022/10/29/how-to-leave-dying-social-media-platforms/
Taken together, switching costs and collective action problems make platforms "sticky," and sticky platforms inevitably enshittify.
Platforms, after all, generate value. They connect end-users with each other (say, little league parents) and they connect end-users to business customers (you and your small business's customers). That value needs to be parceled out among end users, business customers, and the platform's shareholders. A platform can make life better for business customers at its end users' expense by increasing the number of ads (hello, Youtube!), and it can make life better for its shareholders at its business customers' expense by decreasing the share of ad revenue given to publishers or performers (oh, hello again, Youtube!).
From a platform's perspective, the ideal state is one in which end users and business customers get no value from the platform, because it's all being captured by the platform's shareholders. But if Youtube interrupted every 30 seconds of video for ten minutes of ads and paid the video creators nothing, both users and creators would ditch the platform – and advertisers would follow:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dab8sKg8Ko8
So platforms seek an equilibrium: "what is the least value we apportion to end-users and business customers without triggering their departure?" Maybe that means giving more value to end-users (for example, keeping Uber fares low by suppressing wages), or to business-customers (crowding more ads into your social media feed).
Every business – including brick-and-mortar, non-digitized ones – wants to find some kind of equilibrium between the value going to its suppliers, its customers and its owners, but digital businesses have an advantage here: digital systems are flexible in ways that analog, hard-goods businesses are not. Digital businesses can alter pricing, payouts and other dynamics from moment to moment – second to second – and make a different offer to every supplier and customer. They have a bunch of knobs, and they can twiddle them at will:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/19/twiddler/
Well, not quite at will. Businesses face constraints on their twiddling. If they get too greedy, users or business customers might weigh the cost of staying against the switching costs and decide it's not worth it. But the more expensive – the more painful – a platform can make leaving, the more pain they can inflict on the people who stay.
In other words, there's two ways to keep a customer or supplier's business: you can make a better service so they won't want to leave, or you can make leaving the service so painful that they stay even if you mistreat them.
There's three ways a digital company can make things worse for their customers and users without losing their business.
First, they can eliminate competition (think of Mark Zuckerberg buying Instagram to recapture the users who'd fled Facebook to escape his poor management):
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/03/big-tech-cant-stop-telling-on-itself/
Second, they can capture their regulators and avoid punishment for trampling their suppliers' or users' legal rights (think of how Amazon has raised the price of everything we buy, both on- and off Amazon, through its "most favored nation" deals):
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/25/greedflation/#commissar-bezos
Third, they can use IP law to prevent competitors from modifying their services to claw back some of that value (think of how Apple used legal threats to block an Android version of Imessage, blocking Apple customers from having private conversations that included non-Apple customers:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/12/youre-holding-it-wrong/#if-dishwashers-were-iphones
Companies can't just use this tricks at will, of course. Antitrust laws can block companies from making anticompetitve acquisitions or mergers. Regulators can punish companies for cheating their customers, workers and users. Technologists can come up with clever ways of modding or reconfiguring existing services with "interoperable" add-ons that let users bargain for better treatment by refusing to accept worse:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/07/adblocking-how-about-nah
Day in, day out, the decision-makers at tech companies test these constraints, twisting the knobs that shift value away from users to shareholders. Their bosses and boards motivate them with "KPIs" that dangle the promise of huge bonuses and promotions for any manager who successfully enshittifies part of the company's products:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/28/microincentives-and-enshittification/
Decades of pro-corporate, pro-monopoly policy has loosened those knobs. 40 years of lax antitrust meant that companies had a lot of leeway to buy or merge with rivals – that's changing today, but it's tough sledding:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/14/making-good-trouble/#the-peoples-champion
As sectors grew more concentrated, they found it easier to capture their regulators, so that they no longer fear punishment for price-gouging, spying, or wage-theft, so applying the same amount of torque to the "break the law" knob cranks it a lot further:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/06/05/regulatory-capture/
Once you've captured your regulators, you can aim them at your competitors. A monopoly-friendly policy environment has transformed IP law into a bully's charter, allowing powerful companies to strangle would-be competitors who dare to offer their customers tools to shield themselves from enshittification, like scrapers, ad-blockers and alternative clients. Big companies can crank the enshittification knob all the way over and know that smaller rivals knobs won't turn at all:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/10/20/benevolent-dictators/#felony-contempt-of-business-model
At one point, bosses faced one more constraint on knob-twiddling: their workforce. Many tech workers genuinely cared about their users' welfare, something bosses encouraged as a sneaky trick to get techies to put in long hours without exercising their leverage by quitting rather than destroying their lives to meet arbitrary deadlines. These workers would fearlessly slap their bosses' hands when they reached for the enshittification knob, threatening to quit rather than allowing the products they'd given so much for to be enshittified. Today, after hundreds of thousands of tech layoffs, tech workers are far less like to challenge their bosses' right to twiddle, and far more likely to get fired if they try:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/10/the-proletarianization-of-tech-workers/
All this means that tech bosses don't have to change their approach at all, and yet, their services will grow steadily worse. The boss who twiddles the enshittification knob in exactly the same way as he did a year or a decade ago will find it turning much further, because his customers are locked into his platform, his regulators won't protect them, the same regulators will stop his competitors' attempts at countertwiddling, and his workers fear losing their jobs too much to speak up for their users.
That's the contagion that produced the enshittocene: the forces that constrained companies (competition, regulation, self-help and labor – all melted away, allowing every company's MBA-poisoned knob-twiddling leaders to shamelessly caress their knobs with every hour that God sends:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/30/go-nuts-meine-kerle/#ich-bin-ein-bratapfel
Which is why people want to leave platforms. When a platform loses its users, those users have weighed the switching costs against the pain of staying and decided that it's better to bear those costs than to stay.
So why have Tiktok's younger users found the costs too high to bear, and why have their elders remained stuck to the platform?
For that, we have to look at the unique characteristics of young people – characteristics that transcend the lazy cliche that kids are easily bored, fickle novelty-seekers who hop from one service to another with unquenchable restlessness.
Whether or not kids are novelty-seekers, they are, fundamentally, a disfavored minority. They want to do things that the platforms don't want them to do – like converse without being overheard by authority figures, including their parents and their schools (also: cops and future employers, though kids may not be thinking about them as much).
In other words, kids pay intrinsically lower switching costs than adults, because a platform will always do less for them than it will for grownups. This is a characteristic kids share with other supposedly technophilic, novelty-seeking "early adopters," from sex-workers to terrorists, from sexual minorities to trolls, from political dissidents to fascists. For those groups, the cost of mastering a new technology and assembling a community around it is always more likely to be worth bearing than it would be for people who are well-served by existing tools:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/06/21/early-adopters/#sex-tech
Pornographers didn't jump on home video because of its superiority as a medium for capturing flesh-tones. Home video was a good porn medium because it was easier to discreetly get into the hands of porn consumers, who could, in turn, discreetly view it. The audience for porn in the privacy of your living room is larger than the audience for porn that you can only watch if you're willing to be seen marching into a dirty movie theater.
Every new technology is popularized by a mix of disfavored groups and neophiles, who normalize and refine it – and yes, infuse it with their countercultural coolth – until it becomes easy enough to use to become mainstream. As more normies drift into the new system, the switching costs associated with leaving the old system declines. It gets easier and easier to find the people and services you want in the new realm, and harder and harder to find them in the old one.
This is why tech platforms have historically experienced sudden collapse: the platform that gets more valuable and harder to leave as it accumulates users gets less valuable and easier to leave as users depart:
https://www.zephoria.org/thoughts/archives/2022/12/05/what-if-failure-is-the-plan.html
If you're a Gen Z kid on Tiktok, you experience the same enshittification as your Millennial elders. But you also experience an additional cost to staying: as late-arriving adult authority figures become more fluent in the platform, they are more able to observe your use of it, and punish you for conduct that you used to get away with.
And if you're a Millennial who isn't leaving Tiktok, it's not just that you experience the same enshittification as those departing Gen Z kids – you also face higher switching costs if you go. The older you get, the more complex your social connections grow. A Gen Z kid in middle school doesn't have to worry about losing touch with their high-school buddies if they switch platforms (they haven't gone to high school yet – and they see their middle school friends in person all the time, giving them a side-channel to share information about who's leaving Tiktok and where they're headed to next). Middle-schoolers don't have to worry about coordinating little league car-pools or losing access to a rare disease support group.
In other words: younger people leave old platforms earlier because they have more to gain by leaving; and older people leave old platforms later because they have more to lose by leaving.
This is why Facebook is filled with Boomers. Yes, their kids bolted for the exits to avoid having their parents (or grandparents) wading into their sexual, social and professional lives. But the reason the Boomers were late joining younger users' Facebook exodus – or the reason they never joined it – is that they stand to lose more by going. Facebook deliberately cultivated this dynamic, for example, by creating a photo hosting service designed to entice users into uploading their family photos while disguising how hard it would be to take those photos with them if they left:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2021/08/facebooks-secret-war-switching-costs
The irony here is that tech has intrinsically low switching costs. All other things being equal, a new platform can always build a bridge to ease the passage of users from the old one. There's no (technical) reason that moving to Mastodon, or Bluesky, or any other platform should mean cutting ties with the people who stayed behind.
A combination of voluntary interoperability (where old platforms offer APIs to allow new services to connect with them), mandatory interop (where governments force tech companies to offer APIs) and adversarial interop (where new companies hack together their own API with reverse-engineering, scraping, bots, and other guerrilla tactics) would hypothetically allow users to hop between networks as easily as you change phone carriers:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/12/19/better-failure/#let-my-tweeters-go
Tech platforms tend to offer APIs when they're getting started (to ease the inward passage of new users) then shut them down after they attain dominance (locking the door behind those users). The EU is tinkering with mandatory APIs through the Digital Markets Act (though bafflingly, they're starting with encrypted messaging rather than social media). Restoring adversarial interoperability will require extensive legal reform, which is getting started through Right to Repair laws:
https://www.techdirt.com/2024/03/13/oregon-passes-right-to-repair-law-apple-lobbied-to-kill/
The people who are stranded on social media platforms shouldn't be mistaken for uncool, aging technophobes. They're not stubborn, they're stranded. Like the elders who can't afford to leave a dying town after the factory shuts down and the young people move away, these people are locked in. They need help evacuating – a place to go and a path to get there.

J. Drysdale - Orange, Orange, Orange
Tumblr media
✄————————————
Jamie Drysdale x Fem!reader
Word Count: 2.6k
Warning(s): cuss words, reader wanting to strangle Trevor✨
—————————————
Everybody has their own playoff traditions. For most teams, it’s the beards. And every stadium also has a different approach. For the Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center, it’s ‘Paint It Orange.’
Jamie and Trevor go all out. Their apartment gets decorated completely. Orange throw pillows, orange plates and cups, orange shower curtain. Anything that can be replaced for cheap during the playoffs. It’s atrocious. I love seeing my boyfriend and his clingy bestie, but god I hate seeing that orange. It’s too much.
Do I tell them that? Absolutely not.
The boys love it. They love getting into the playoff spirit, and I’d even venture to say it’s a ritual now. A superstition that they add to every year. This year I was anticipating orange drapes or maybe even an orange carpet.. but I couldn’t have been farther from the right idea.
Trevor and Jamie had been radio silent all day. Both in our group chat and in individual texts. It was unlike them. Especially Jamie, who always texted me in the morning. I was suspicious, but I didn’t think too much into it. We were coming up on the first playoff game. Two days away. It was likely that they were only anxious. Antsy.
I thought maybe a quick box of donuts might be nice. I swung by a local donut shop and picked up two dozen before making the drive to their place. Jamie always enjoyed the jelly filled and chocolate covered ones, but Trevor had so many things he enjoyed that it was hard to remember all the flavors. And knowing these boys and their appetites, it was safer to get two dozen.
When I got to their place, I gently kicked their door with my foot a few times, seeing as my hands were full. I heard a faint, ‘coming’ from Trevor. I eyed the orange wreath on their door while I waited. It was new. That must have been the addition for this year’s playoff run. They hadn’t had one in a while. I would have expected something more drastic to celebrate.
When the door opened, I was met with a shirtless Trevor. His long hair was pulled back in a ponytail -no doubt one I left behind at some point- and his shorts were covered in orange. His arms had a bit of the orange substance on them as well. My brow furrowed.
“Hey! You brought us donuts. That’s awesome.” Trevor smiled, “can you bring ‘em inside? Just toss them on the counter.” He stepped aside, letting me in before he shut the door and locked it.
“Trevor, what’s going on?” I asked as I walked through the house, greeted by the ugly oranges of their decorations. I set the boxes of donuts on the counter, opening one to pull out one of the jelly filled treats. I took a bite out of it as I turned to look at Trevor.
“Stuff.” He answered, nodding a little too dramatically for me to believe him.
“Where’s Jamie?”
“Out.” I didn’t like or believe that answer either.
“Doing what?” I pressed on.
“Hey! Who’s that?” I heard Jamie shout, his voice echoing from a room I could only assume was the bathroom. Trevor’s face fell the moment he knew he’d been caught in his own lie.
“It’s your girlfriend! She brought us donuts!” Trevor called, the volume of his voice irritating my ears. I winced.
“You’re such a liar, Trevor.” I scoffed out, shaking my head at him.
“Tell her to come here! She can help!” Even yelling, Jamie’s voice sounded soft.
Trevor looked at me with a cautious gaze, and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Why don’t you want me here?” I immediately asked, accusation in my tone. Trevor refused to answer right out.
“Oh boy…” he mumbled. Clearly, he knew whatever I was about to see, I was not going to like. “Come on.”
I followed incredibly close behind Trevor, contemplating a few times, simply pushing him out of the way. But once we got to the bathroom, I was glad we’d taken our time getting there. It gave me time to brace myself.
The gasp I drew in was second to none, horrified and surprised in the worst ways.
I stood there in shock for maybe a total of ten seconds. A ticking time bomb.
“So… you like it?” The optimism in Trevor’s voice set me off.
“What the fuck?” I shouted, staring down at my shirtless boyfriend and his lathered orange hair. “Jamie! What the fuck?”
Trevor was standing behind me, and I could tell the boys were looking at each other when my boyfriend’s eyes drifted past me.
“This is why I told you not to invite her.” Trevor mumbled. I spun on my heels.
“Because I don’t want my boyfriend looking like..” I paused, looking back at Jamie. He flashed me a nervous smile. “Like the Lorax?” I wasn’t necessarily angry.. just.. caught off guard. Nobody informed me of this. Nobody told me I was going to have to look at Jamie like this for possibly months.
“So you don’t like it?” Jamie’s smooth voice piped up, causing my tense gaze to move from Trevor back to the once dark haired man. I pursed my lips, trying to calm myself as I noticed the concern in Jamie’s features.
“I’ll be honest with you J.. I don’t. No.” His face fell. I shook my head as I kicked my shoes off and stepped onto the dirty towels on the floor. I glanced at him in the mirror, then back down to his figure sitting on a foldable chair. I immediately reached for a silky lock of wet orange hair, still covered in fresh dye. “Oh my god…” I mumbled, feeling like a mother with her child.
“That bad, huh?” Jamie inquired, eyeing my reflection in the mirror.
“I love you.. just.. not your orange hair.” He was slow to nod. Jamie never liked knowing I didn’t like something. I always tried to tell him that it didn’t matter. Just because I didn’t like something, didn’t mean he needed to change it or throw it away. But he always wanted to make me happy. I could tell though, that this stressed him out. Because he couldn’t easily fix this.
“It’s not that bad.” Jamie tried to reason.
“No it’s pretty bad.” I wanted to card my hands through his hair, but I couldn’t. These idiots. God knows what this would turn out like. “Jame- your hair is so dark.. what if this turns out looking like shit? Like actual shit? Did you guys even bleach it enough?” Jamie, nor Trevor had a good response. So instead, my boyfriend opted to change the topic.
“Trevor‘s gonna do it too.” I looked back at Trevor while Jamie’s eyes were fixed on himself in the mirror.
Trevor shook his head with a snicker. My brow furrowed at his amusement, and the lines connected when I noticed Trevor was not worried about his own perfect hair.
I realized quickly that this was not a playoff ritual. This was Trevor tricking his best friend into something embarrassing. I would have considered it a prank if I didn’t know how humiliated Jamie would be once he found out.
I wanted to strangle him. I wanted to yell at him. I wanted to grab Trevor by the hair and throw him off the roof. Instead, I came up with a much less hostile approach.
“Thats really sweet of you Trev. At least if it ends badly Jamie won’t look… orange all alone.” I cooed. Trevor looked confused, but I let him off the hook for a moment.
“I don’t like this look.. I really don’t, but if it’s for playoffs, I understand. How much longer does this have to sit, J?” I asked, watching him reach for his phone on the stained counter.
“Thirty more minutes.” I nodded gestured for him to move and sit on the edge of the bath tub. He did so with ease.
“You want this?” I presented the donut I took a bite of to him, and Jamie quickly reached for it. He mumbled a sheepish, ‘thanks,” in return.
“Trevor,” I immediately turned to him. “I’ll help you with your hair.”
It was Trevor’s turn to be concerned, shaking his head and laughing anxiously.
“No.. no.. J’s got it.” He took a step back to escape the bathroom.
“No, I insist. I’d rather it not get anywhere else on Jamie anyway. His arm hair doesn’t need to be orange too. Come on.” I grabbed his arm, pulling him a bit forcefully back into the bathroom.
“I think it’ll look so good on you, Trev.” I taunted as I pushed him down into the chair. “J, can you go get me a drink from the fridge?” Jamie looked up from his phone and nodded, slipping out of the bathroom.
“Fuck you Trevor,” I hissed quietly, “you know how embarrassed he would have been? He probably would’ve chopped all his hair off.” Trevor’s eyes quickly found the floor. I wondered if he even thought this idea through entirely.
“I wish you wouldn’t be so rough on him sometimes. He’s not you, Trev.” My tone softened -though the annoyance remained- as I glanced down at all of the items on the counter. I reached for the bleach and prepped it before grabbing a spare pair of gloves, slipping them on.
“This one was pretty bad, huh?” Trevor muttered, right before Jamie returned with the water. I flashed him a smile as he set it on top of the toilet.
“Getzlaf‘s gonna love this look on you guys.” I was quick to change the subject, beginning to lather the bleach in Trevor’s hair. He may not have even needed it, but I decided to go with it for safe measure. I peeked over at Jamie, who was watching with curious eyes. I realized he already had another donut in hand. I also realized, that the poor kid’s eyebrows were still as dark as can be.
“He’ll support us.” Trevor reasoned.
“I’m sure he will.” Sarcasm laced my tone.
“I think we’ll look pretty cool.” Jamie’s excitement made me feel bad for knowing what I did about Trevor’s plans. And it made me feel bad for disagreeing in my head.
“The coolest, J.” I responded, trying to sound genuine.
It took me around ten minutes to get Trevor’s hair covered well. At that point, it was a waiting game for Jamie. Another fifteen minutes went by where I sat by my boyfriend on the lip of the bath tub, leaning on him as he scrolled through his phone, occasionally moving an orange lock from his eyes that kept falling astray. His mother didn’t like it when his hair got too long, I could only imagine what she’d say when she saw it was a whole new color.
When Jamie’s hair timer had gone off, I made Trevor go and grab me a cup. I helped Jamie sit on the floor and lean his head back into the bath tub, sighing to myself as I turned the bath tub on and found a comfortable temperature for the water.
When Trevor returned with the cup, I took it from him and filled it, resting my hand over Jamie’s eyes as I poured the first round of water through his hair, pushing my fingers through after. This was gonna take a while.
“I’ve seen you blonde.. but this is something else..” I mumbled. I did find momentary joy in the way Jamie’s eyes were closed, enjoying the feeling of having someone wash his hair. His orange hair.
“If this comes out bad, I’m taking you both to the local salon.” I added, getting to a point where the orange didn’t completely stain the water as it went down the drain. I turned off the tub faucet and asked Trevor to get me a towel, which he came back with faster than the cup.
“It’s not Carla,” Trevor shook his head. I glared at him.
“I don’t really care who it is. You’ll go unless you want to look like an off brand red head.” Jamie’s eyes opened, worriedly looking between me and his best friend.
I grabbed the towel from Trevor and turned back to my boyfriend, wrapping the towel around his hair and squeezing it a few times before I helped him sit up, and draped the towel over his shoulders.
“Move.” Trevor didn’t look very pleased that I was kicking him out of his seat, but he did nonetheless. Jamie slipped back into the foldable chair, and I bent over to search the cabinet beneath the sink for my spare hair dryer. When I spotted it, I was quick to pull it out.
I eyed the cord for a moment. “I don’t wrap my hairdryer cords like this.” I glanced between both boys, curious as to who had used my dryer while I was away.
“Sometimes my hair doesn’t dry fast enough before I go out.” Jamie’s gentle confession made my gaze soften.
I plugged the cord into the outlet and opened the medicine cabinet to grab one of the combs inside.
“Wait that’s mine!” I glared over at Trevor before putting the comb back and grabbing the other. Part of me wanted to snap his in half. Torturing Jamie and he still thought he could sit there and make requests.
I turned the hair dryer on, pointing it down at my lover as I slowly ran his comb through his hair. He looked pleased with all the attention. I didn’t mind it.. I just wished I could have given it to him under other circumstances that didn’t involve orange hair.
As his hair dried, the orange took on a much lighter look. Still hideous, but it looked like it would match the jerseys. Jamie took a few pictures of it.
When I had his hair mostly dry, I turned the dryer off and set it on the counter with the comb. I ran my fingers through his hair a few times, ruffling and fixing the part, before I leaned forward to press a kiss to his head.
“Do you like it now?” Jamie spoke softly, his eyes searched my expression in the mirror.
“It’ll grow on my eventually.” I tapped his shoulder. “You wanna help me finish Trev?”
“Oh! Yeah!”
“Trevor sit on the floor and lean your head over the bath.”
I repeated the process of washing hair with Trevor, this time with the help of Jamie, who really just handed me shampoo when I needed it.
When I had his hair washed and towel dried, I had him and Jamie switch places again, and I began to dry Trevor’s hair- with his own comb. After I was sure every strand was no longer damp, I put my dryer away and set Trevor’s comb aside.
“I think when we’re done, you guys should send some photos to your mothers.” I advised, smiling to myself at the thought of either woman’s reaction.
Jamie’s head shot up from his phone. Had he not considered his mother as a factor before agreeing to this?
“She’s gonna flip…”
He hadn’t.
“Oh my god, Jamie-“ I hid my face in my hands to mask my frustration.
“Can you call her with me?” His request was met with a reluctant no from myself.
“You made your bed, lover. And this one you have to lay in alone.” I chuckled. “Good luck.”

ENCHANTED — JAMIE DRYSDALE
jamie drysdale x hughes!reader
part of the Speak Now Fic List
summary: in which y/n meets Jamie on a boring night and becomes completely enchanted with him
notes: this is my first time ever writing for Jamie, so bear with me! (4k words, precisely.)
Tumblr media
this wasn’t where i wanted to spend my night.
after two years in Anaheim, i thought i had successfully avoided my brother’s best friend dragging me to parties or nights out.
i always had an excuse handy.
“sorry Trevor, i have a big test. i gotta study.”
“i have major cramps, sorry Trev.”
“i have study group, sorry!”
“sorry Trevor, i have a shift at the campus store!”
that last one came back to bite me in the ass after Trevor had mentioned it to Jack and my loving brother outed me on the fact that i don’t even have a job.
that’s what got me here. finally conned into being Trevor’s friendly plus-one to John Gibson’s end-of-the-season party. despite the fact that i was telling the truth this time when i said i had to study for finals.
Trevor had pulled some pouty puppy face over facetime, reminded me that i lied to him last time, and even pulled out the “i just wanna hang out with you, mini Hughes. i never get to see you, even though we live in the same city. you may as well be as far away as Jack.”
and just like that, i was putty in his hands. i agreed to accompany, only on the agreement that he wouldn’t leave me alone when we got here. and he hasn’t, so far.
he stands next to me, an arm leant against my shoulder, as he chats with Troy Terry.
“this is y/n Hughes, my itty bitty best buddy!” his speech is slightly slurred, already significantly buzzed, but not quite drunk yet.
“you gotta stop calling me that.” i roll my eyes. “i’m not fourteen and 5’3 anymore.”
“but you’re still not my height,” he laughs, ruffling my hair. “so it stays.”
i send Troy a pleading glance and his head tips back in laughter.
“so, you’re Quinn, Jack, and Luke’s sister?” Troy asks.
“yeah, i’m between Jack and Luke.” i explain and he nods, making a comment about how hard it must be being the only girl.
“where’s Jamie, Trevor? thought he would’ve driven with you.” Troy questions, and i’m grateful for the change of subject.
i love my brothers, but they’re all anyone ever wants to talk about. i’m my own person, my life doesn’t revolve around them.
“nah, i picked this one up, so Jamie’s driving on his own. he should be here soon though.”
i zone out as the conversation shifts to their off-season plans, forcing a laugh whenever Trevor tells a horrendous joke, and faking a smile when he mentions that he’ll be coming to my brothers lake house.
but eventually i get bored, instead turning my head to look around the crowded house.
i recognize a few people from the Ducks games i’ve watched or attended. John Gibson, the goalie. Mason McTavish, the young center.
but then i see him.
dark hair and blue eyes contrast against pale skin. even from across the room, i can see the freckles that litter across his nose and cheekbones. his gaze shifts around the room, and when it settles on where i am, he seems to let out a relieved sigh, making his way over.
my body tenses, my posture becoming straighter, and as i push my shoulders back slightly, i accidentally knock Trevor’s arm off. but he doesn’t seem to notice, a large goofy smile breaking out across his face as he cheers.
“Jimbo! you made it!”
a blush rises to the gorgeous boy’s cheeks, huffing out an awkward chuckle. it’s beautiful. he’s beautiful.
“Jimmy, this is y/n. y/n, this is Jamie!” Trevor introduces us and realization settles over me.
this is Jamie? Trevor’s best friend and roommate in California?
he reminds me of a disney prince. his eyes meet mine, wonder shining amongst them.
“have we met? you seem kinda familiar.” his voice reminds me of daylight breaking amongst gray clouds. warmth and security flowing throughout my body.
but before i can respond, Trevor butts his way in again.
“i’m gonna go get another drink! i’ll be back.”
Trevor pushes his way between us, heading off toward the kitchen, and Jamie laughs again.
“so, how drunk is he?” Jamie questions, his head nodding towards where Trevor disappeared.
“well, about ten minutes ago, he was singing me the mighty ducks theme song.” i explain and Jamie nods in understanding.
“got it. so, he’s sober.” he remarks and i let out a giggle.
“yeah,” i drag out. “there really isn’t much of a difference between sober and drunk Trevor, is there?”
“not when he’s as wild drunk as he is sober.” Jamie jokes, and i hum in agreement.
“so, you’re the infamous Jamie Drysdale?” i raise an eyebrow, watching as his cheeks turn pink.
“oh god, he talks about me?” he laughs and i nod.
“you’ve been mentioned a few times.” i confirm. “all good things, of course.”
Jamie and i stand in that same spot almost all night, eventually moving to the couch when we realize that Trevor isn’t coming back.
“so, you’re a student at… Chapman?” he gathers.
“yeah, i’m about to end my junior year. one year online during the pandemic, and two years on campus here.” i explain and he nods his head in understanding, taking a sip of his soda.
“what’s your major?”
“broadcast journalism. my main focus is sports entertainment.” he nods again before his nose scrunches in confusion, his eyebrows pulling together.
“and you’ve known Trevor this whole time?” i hum out in agreement. “how have we never met until now?”
“okay, don’t judge me.” i preface, making him chuckle, but agree. “i’m not much of a party person. i prefer to stay in my dorm and watch movies. so, i always make up an excuse to get out of coming to parties with Trevor.”
his head tips back in laughter, causing a rush of heat to spread across my face, but at the sight of my blush, he shakes his head.
“wait, no! no! i’m not laughing at you, i swear! i’m laughing because i do the same thing.” his words are spoken through broken laughter, my teeth sinking into my bottom lip to hold back a smile.
“really? you’re his roommate!”
“that doesn’t mean i love partying!” he defends himself. “i’m more introverted. quieter than Z. a lot of people wonder why we’re friends, but, we balance each other out.”
he shrugs and i tilt my head, squinting my eyes.
“hm, yeah, i could see that.” i admit. “my best friend and i are the same way. she’s a lot like Trevor.”
as the words leave my mouth, my face drops; my eyes wide, my lips parted in horror.
“oh god, she’s like Trevor.” Jamie’s entire body folds in laughter, his face turning bright red as his hand lands on my knee, sending sparks up my leg.
he looks so carefree and happy, i can’t help but sneak a picture.
“so, neither of us like parties,” Jamie starts, once he’s finally calmed down from laughing at my horror. “and Trevor has left us, and i doubt he’s coming back.”
“definitely not. that boy has the attention span of a goldfish.” i joke and Jamie agrees.
“so why don’t we get out of here?” he asks. my lips part, blood rushing to my cheeks, but before i can speak, he cuts me off. “wait, not like that. that came out wrong! what i mean is, i could really go for some food. and maybe getting out of this crowded house.”
“oh- yeah.” i nod, sliding my phone in my pocket. “yeah, that sounds great.”
“great!” he rises from the couch, holding his hand out for me to take; and i do, slipping my hand into his larger, more calloused hold.
he pulls me up from the couch, his grip never faltering as we exit the house with an irish goodbye and head to his car.
he opens the passenger door, finally dropping my hand to allow me to slide in, but i catch his hand flex in my peripheral vision and despite my now cold hand, my heart races in my chest. did i just get my own pride and prejudice moment?
“do you have any special requests on where to eat?” he questions as he starts the car.
“um, no.” i shrug. “anywhere with chicken tenders is fine with me.”
he laughs. “then i know just the place.”
the ride is made in a comfortable silence after that. nothing but the sound of country music flowing through the radio.
Jamie pulls into a diner parking lot, mostly empty due to the late timing, and we head inside, taking a seat in a booth towards the middle of the establishment.
“your chicken tenders, await.” he grins, pointing out the item on the laminated menu, slightly sticky with syrup.
“hey, don’t knock the chicken tenders. they’re an important food group.” i stick out my lip in a fake pout and he chuckles.
“yeah, if you’re ten.”
“oh yeah, well what are you gonna get? a burger?” he opens his mouth to defend himself, but as i raise a brow, he chooses to stay silent, letting out a ‘hmph’
“that’s what i thought.” i grin in triumph as a waitress stops by to take our orders. as soon as she leaves, my phone buzzes in my pocket and i slide it out, huffing a laugh at the text.
***
from: quack-quack 🦆
yo, where’d u go?! u disappeared on me!
***
i show the text to Jamie, who laughs as well.
“guess he did try to come back to us.” he shrugs.
“yeah, three hours after he left us!” i giggle, holding my phone up to take a picture of Jamie, who smiles, his arms crossed on the table.
the photo is the only response Trevor gets, but barely 5 minutes later, interrupting Jamie and i’s heavy debate on which Star Wars movie is the best, i get another text.
***
from: jacky ♥️🖤
why is Z telling me you’re out with a guy? at 11:30 at night?? y/n, go home. now. it’s unsafe and i can’t believe you’re being so reckless. i’ll deal with this in the morning.
***
i roll my eyes, choosing to ignore the text and slip my phone back into my pocket.
“Trevor again?” Jamie asks but i shake my head.
“no, worse. my brother.” i explain as our food arrives.
i smile over at the waitress, muttering out a ‘thank you’ before she retreats.
“you have a brother?” he speaks up as i take a bite of chicken and i nod.
“i have three.” i don’t give him any more information than that. if he’s unaware of who my brothers are, then i don’t want to tell him. not tonight, at least.
“oh damn.” he blows out a breath, his eyes widening. “i have a brother, but i can’t imagine having three. and being the only girl?”
“yeah, they’re pretty protective.”
“do they live here?” he asks, and it feels nice; being able to talk about my family without someone already knowing who they are and pretty much everything about them.
“no.” i shake my head. “one lives in canada, the other two on the east coast.”
he ask me more questions about my family, and i try to keep my answers as vague as possible, while still not being too vague that he thinks i don’t wanna talk about them.
for every question i answer, he gives me a fact about his own family, until the conversation shifts to jobs.
“well obviously you know i’m a hockey player.” he says as i push my now-empty plate away. “do you work?”
“not right now.” i tell him. “i’m focused on school at the moment. i got a full-ride scholarship, because of my grades, so i don’t have to pay for my tuition, and my parents pay for my dorm.
“but because they don’t have to pay for my tuition, they send me a monthly allowance from my college fund so that i don’t have to work and i can focus on my schooling.”
he follows along as i explain, maintaining eye contact.
“that’s cool. it’s good, that you get to focus on your grades.” i yawn as he finishes speaking, attempting to cover it, but he catches on. “oh shit, are you tired?”
“i- just a little bit.” i wince, hoping he doesn’t think i found him boring or anything.
“i can drop you off at your dorm, if you want. i know Trevor picked you up”
i nod as he motions over to the waitress for the check.
“yes, please.” i give in. “i usually wouldn’t mind staying out all night with you, because i’m having a really good time, and you’re so funny and sweet. but, i need to sleep so i can study tomorrow. i have a final on Monday.”
Jamie pays, waving off my offer to pay for my own food, and we exit the diner, climbing back into his car.
the time on his dashboard reads one am and i internally cringe at the idea of having to sneak back into my dorm.
the drive is mainly quiet as i give him directions to my dorm, and i sigh as we pull up in front of the building.
“i had a lot of fun.” i turn to him with a small smile as i unbuckle my seatbelt. “thanks for making tonight a lot less boring, Jamie.”
“yeah, me too.” he nods, “thanks for saving me from drunk Trevor.”
i’m grateful for the darkness of the night sky as he leans over and presses a kiss to my cheek, thanking whatever higher being that he’s unable to see the pink twinge of my cheekbones.
i bid him a goodnight as i exit the car, looking back as i reach the door to the dormitory building, to see him waiting for me to get inside before he leaves. i wave another goodbye, him doing the same as i disappear into the brick building.
i’m blushing, grinning like a lovesick fool the entire elevator ride up to my dorm.
i wonder if he knows how enchanted i was by him. one night together and i’m already thinking about how i would introduce him to my family.
i tiptoe into the dorm room, quiet to try and avoid waking my best friend slash roommate, but my efforts go unappreciated as she’s already sitting up in her bed, waiting for me.
“how was it? were you miserable without me?” Brandy asks from her spot propped against her mountain of pillows. “i bet you were, right?”
but i’m quiet; my mind still stuck on Jamie. he was amazing. so kind, and funny. and he actually asked about me. he genuinely wanted to know about my family and friends, what i liked to do in my free time, and what i wanted to do with my degree.
“oh- i know that look.” Brandy squeals, hopping off her bed and disregarding my half-nakedness in the midst of getting changed into my pajamas, pulling me in for a hug. “who is he? what’s his name? where’s he from? does he have a hot brother?”
“Trevor’s roommate, Jamie, Canada, and he has a brother but i don’t know what he looks like.” i spill, my cheeks red and a wide grin on my lips.
you’d think i just told Brandy i won the lottery with the way she lets out an excited shriek, jumping up and down as i finish changing.
i leave her to get out her excitement as i go wash my face and brush my teeth, but when i’m back, she just seems even more excited.
“tell me all about him!” she demands, hopping back into her bed, turning to face mine as i crawl in and bury myself in my covers.
“he was enchanting.” i sigh, staring up at the popcorn ceiling. “he was so funny, and he was so sweet. we really clicked, Bran.
“we met at the party and spent hours just talking and getting to know each other. and then he took me to this diner, and we spent another hour and a half just talking about our lives. and he doesn’t know who my brothers are! i mean, he knows who they are, obviously, because he plays hockey, but he doesn’t know they’re my brothers.”
“oh sweet angel,” she sighs, and i turn my head to look at her. “you seem so happy.”
her eyes are soft, a gentle smile on her face.
“i am.” i tell her.
“are you gonna see him again?” she questions, laying down under her blankets.
“i don’t know, i—” my mood deflates, my face dropping as realization settles over me. “i didn’t get his number.”
“so ask Trevor for it.” she shrugs, as if it’s easy. and i guess for her, someone who doesn’t have crippling anxiety, it is.
“i can’t.” i shake my head. “that would be so embarrassing. i don’t want Trevor to know i’m interested in his friend. not yet.”
“you’ll see him again, sweet angel.” Brandy assures me, flicking off her lamp. “it’ll work out.”
the room goes dark and quiet, and a mere five minutes later, i can hear her snores fill the room. but i’m still awake.
i grab my phone from where it rests on my bedside table, unlocking it, i’m unsurprised to see it’s two am. i click into my photos app, swiping back and forth between the two pictures i took of Jamie tonight.
questions plague my thoughts.
does he have a girlfriend in canada?
who does he love?
when is he leaving, now that the season is over?
will i ever see him again?
please let this be the very first page of our story.
please don’t let this be where our storyline ends.
i turn off my phone, plugging it in and setting it back on my nightstand. his name echoes through my thoughts, and when i close my eyes, all i picture is him.
please don’t be in love with someone else.
please don’t have somebody waiting on you.
i drift into sleep, my dreams overridden by the same blue eyed, freckled boy that had taken over my mind.
*** TWO MONTHS LATER ***
it’s been months, but i still haven’t moved past that April night with Jamie.
i can be having a normal summer day, and yet some way or another, i’m reminded of the beautiful boy that i spent that night with.
sometimes it’s the blue of the lake water, which reminds me of his eyes. others it’s the color of my coffee in the morning, that reminds me of his hair.
it doesn’t help that nearly all of Trevor’s stories from the past season, include Jamie in some way.
it’s been months, and i still hope to every higher power, that i’ll see him again. that he’s single and hoping to see me too.
i’m sprawled across the couch, my head in my eldest brother’s lap as the guys play chel.
i was reading a book, but that’s been long abandoned; now closed and resting on my chest as i daydream about the freckled disney prince like boy from Anaheim.
“hey.” my trance is broken when Quinn pokes my cheek. i glance up at him, tearing my eyes away from their zoned out glare at the tv. “you okay?”
“yeah, i’m fine.” i give him a small smile. “just wondering where Trevor is and if he can stay there. it’s so quiet.”
Quinn laughs, zoning back into the tv screen as a new game starts between Jack and Cole.
“he went to-” Quinn is cut off by the front door opening and Trevor’s loud voice echoing throughout the house.
“honey, i’m home!” Trevor calls out and Quinn and i share an exasperated glance. “and i brought a guest!”
my brows furrow together at his statement, listening to the two pairs of footsteps that get closer to the living room.
“guys, this is Jamie. you know him from… playing against him.”
my eyes go wide, my head snapping up as i quickly raise myself to a sitting position, accidentally kicking Jack in the groin from my feet having been in his lap.
Jack lets out a groan, doubling over, while Cole laughs and takes that as his chance to score a goal on him in the video game.
“Jimbo, this is Cole, Alex, Quinn, and Jack, who looks like his appendix burst.” Trevor introduces and Jack coughs, holding up his middle finger at his best friend. “and you already know y/n.”
at the mention of my name and the flick of Trevor’s finger towards me, Jamie’s eyes snap to me, a smile on his face.
“hi.” i grin, shuffling to my knees on the couch.
“hey, i’m glad to see you again. i didn’t know you would be here.” Jamie’s eyes light up, crinkling as his smile gets brighter.
“it’s her brothers’ house Jimmy, of course she’ll be here.” Trevor laughs, slapping Jamie’s back, whose eyes go wide as he realizes.
“oh- these are your brothers? you didn’t say they played hockey.” Jamie chuckles awkwardly.
“what?” Jack huffs from behind me. “not only have you met him? but you didn’t tell him about your dear old brothers?”
Jack wraps an arm around the front of my shoulders, pulling me back into him and ruffling my hair.
“get off me, jackass!” i break free from his hold, making him laugh. “i didn’t tell him who you are, but i did tell him how annoying you are.”
Jack gasps in mock offense, reaching out for me, but i clamber into Quinn’s lap.
“keep him away, Quinny!” i shriek, making all the guys laugh.
“Jack, leave her alone.” Quinn chuckles and Jack slumps back on his seat, rolling his eyes.
“you two are no fun.”
“hey mini Hughes?” Trevor starts, plopping down into the seat beside Jack. “you mind showing Jimmy to the empty room? i wanna beat Cole’s ass at chel.”
“sure.” i rise from Quinn’s lap, sending a smile towards Jamie as i motion for him to follow me. he picks up his suitcase, shuffling behind me through the house and up the stairs until i lead him into the empty room beside mine.
“here ya go. your room for the… however long you’re here.” he chuckles at my words, setting his suitcase down on the bed before he turns to me.
“ya know, i was hoping i’d see you again.” he confesses, my cheeks turning pink.
“yeah?” he nods, “me too.”
“i was enchanted to meet you that night.” his hand grabs ahold of mine, lacing our fingers together. “and then i realized i didn’t get your number, and it felt too weird to get it from Trevor. so, i was really hoping i would run into you next season, but here you are now.”
“here i am.” i bite my lip, glancing down at his lips before back at his eyes.
“would you wanna go out while i’m here?” he asks shyly. “like, on a real date?”
“i would love that, Jamie.” i take the chance while i feel bold, wrapping my arms around his neck, his following suit and coiling around my waist.
“yeah?” he replies giddily, his voice filled with excitement and nerves.
“yeah. i’d love that a lot.” his eyes flicker down to my lips before his tongue darts out to wet his own.
“hey, Jamie?” my words earn me a distracted hum in return. “you finally gonna kiss me now?”
“oh yeah.” he nods, causing me to giggle.
his head dips down, our noses brushing as his lips finally press against mine. my entire body melts into his, my hands cupping the back of his neck to pull him closer. our lips fit together perfectly, fire spreading throughout my body at the feeling.
and all i can think, is how enchanting this feeling is.

Hey
You’re eyes scanned the bar as you, along with your group of friends, walked into the place. The loud music filling your ears, making you grimace slightly. This was your first time going out since your break up with Trevor at the end of his first full NHL season, back in April. He had made the decisions to end your relationship only hours before going on his last road trip of the season, and when he came back home a couple of days later, all your things were gone.
You hadn’t tried to reach out to him when he left, instead choosing of just leaving and moving back into your parent’s house for the summer. Your friends were with you everyday, not wanting the end of your year long relationship to destroy like your previous breakup did. They understood that you were in the mood to go out every night, or any night at all, so movie nights, walks on the beach, ice cream runs were a daily thing.
Eventually, in early July, you started moving on from him, he hadn’t bothered to reach out to you either, so you had no choice but to do so. Slowly but surely, you started spending more time outside of your house, something your parents were grateful for. Then, you found yourself your own apartment, still close to home, but not too close to where Trevor lived so you wouldn't have to run into him in the store or on the streets.
Now here you were, October only a couple of days away, standing at a bar with a bright smile on your face as your friends talked about all the drama they heard from your high school days, which couple were still together, which ones weren’t, some of them were now married with kids, something that shocked you a bit since you were only 21, but if that’s what they wanted, good on them, you thought.
Haven’t heard from you in a couple of months
But I’m out right now and I’m all fucked up
And you’re callin’ my phone and you’re all alone
And I’m sensing some undertone
And I’m right here with all my friends
But you’re sending me your new address
And I know we’re done, I know we’re through
But, God, when I look at you
As the morning hours approached, it was safe to say you were completely drunk, somehow this casual night out, had turned into you guys celebrating going into your last year of college, meaning way more drinks were bought than expected.
You were all sitting in a booth, laughs echoing, when you felt your phone buzz in the pocket of your jeans shorts. You struggled a bit, but eventually, you got your phone out, squinting your eyes to see who was calling you.
❌trevor❌
You let out a sigh watching your phone ring until his contact disappeared, and then voicemail notification popped up. You knew you couldn’t do this to yourself, you shouldn’t, but you wanted to. So, you excused yourself, claiming you needed to use the bathroom, of course some of your friends suggested they came with you, not wanting you to be alone. But you assured them you’d be fine.
“Hey, it’s me. I… Uh, it’s been a while.” His voice echoed through the speaker of your phone, making you bit your lips as you heard his voice for the first time since you two broke up. “I hope you’re doing good, I really do.” He continued, his voice shaky a bit. Before he said anything else, you heard him sip on a drink and let out a sigh. “I don’t know if you’re busy or whatnot, maybe you’re having a night with your parents or something.” He added, sipping once again on his drink, and now you could tell he was a bit tipsy by the way his words were slurred a bit. “But I was wondering if you’d wanna meet up? Talk a bit about what happened. I’ll text you my new place, come if you want.”
And then it went silent, but he hadn’t hung-up, after about ten seconds of silence, you decided to hang up, telling yourself he was probably done and just miss clicked the red button on his phone. You stayed in the bathroom stall for a bit, wondering what you should do. You wanted nothing more than to see him, talk to him, get some closure about why he ended your relationship, but you didn’t want to get even more heartbroken than you already were.
When you made it back to the booth, you knew what you were going to do. Was it a smart decision? No, absolutely not. But did it seem like a good one to your drunk self? Yes, absolutely.
My brain goes, “Ah”
Can’t hear my thoughts (I cannot hear my thoughts)
Like blah-blah-blah (Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah)
Should probably not
I should probably, probably not
I should probably, probably not
As you announced your departure to your friends, a lot of them suggested to go with you, make sure you stay safe, but you convince them you’d be fine, only having a couple of minutes to walk and promising them you’d call them if anything happened.
As you started your adventure towards your desired place, your brain started to come to it’s sense. This was horrible idea, but you didn’t care. You craved to hear him, see him, smell his cologne that you adored so much, you need him. So, you just ignored what your head was telling you, choosing instead to follow your heart and what it wanted.
Seeing you tonight
It’s a bad idea right?
Seeing you tonight
It’s a bad idea right?
Seeing you tonight
It’s a bad idea right?
Seeing you tonight
Fuck it, it’s fine
As you got closer and closer, the anxiety of seeing him again started to settle in. What if he decided you took too long and left? What if he had another girl over and asked you to come just to rub it in your face? No, he wouldn’t that. Trevor could be an asshole on the ice sometimes, and to other guys in the bar if he saw them let their eyes linger on your body a little too long for his liking, but he wouldn’t do anything like that.
That’d be such a dick move from him, plus, you were still in contact with Jamie, and from what you understood through the boy’s weird texts, Trevor hadn’t seen any other girl yet. So, truly, what was the worst that could happen, right?
Yes, I know that he’s my ex
But can’t two people reconnect?
I only see him as a friend
The biggest lie I ever said
Oh, yes, I know that he’s my ex
But can’t two people reconnect?
I only see him as a friend
I just tripped and fell into his bed
Deciding that at least informing your parents of where you were going, or more like who you were going to see was the least you could do. That way if your friends went over to check on you, they’d call your parents to see if you had gone to their house, they’d know of the horrible decision you had made the previous night.
Your mother wasn’t too fond of your idea, but she had met Trevor, he was a sweetheart, he knew you weren’t in any danger. If anything, she was over the moon that you had decided to finally go see the boy and talk about what had happened.
Trevor had met your parents countless of times during your relationship, your dad being a big hockey fan, even though his favorite team was the Kings and not the Ducks. Every time you’d mention coming to visit them for the day, Trevor coming along with you, they’d almost jump from excitement, happy that their daughter had finally found a good boy for herself. They were a little cautious of him at first, doing their researches online before meeting him and seeing not so good things about him and his reputation of being a playboy, but all that worry quickly washed away when they caught the two of you sitting on the front porch watching the sunset. The window in the living room giving them a perfect view of the two of you, wide smiles on your faces as they saw Trevor looking at their daughter the way your father looked at your mother, pure love in their eyes.
No, your mother was more scared of you walking the streets of Anaheim all alone in the dark, and you understood her. The world wasn’t a safe place, neither during dark or light, especially for young woman your age. The fact that you were drunk didn’t help either, so you decided to stay on the phone with her until you made it safely to Trevor’s place.
Now I’m gettin’ in the car, wreckin’ all my plans
I know I should stop, but I can’t
And I told my friend I was asleep
But I never said where (in his sheets)
And I pull up to your place on the second floor
And you’re standing, smiling at the door
And I’m sure I’ve seen much hotter men
But I really can’t remember when
Your hand were shaking slightly as you knocked on his door, making sure not to make too much noise to wake up his neighbors, but enough so he could hear you. You heard movement behind the door, along with the sound of the TV getting paused.
Then, the next thing you knew, Trevor was standing in front of you, a beer bottle in hand. A wide grin appeared on his face as your eyes meet for the first time in months. He had gotten a haircut, thankfully, the last time you saw him, his hair kept covering his eyes and he was always complaining about it, but refused to get it cut anywhere other than his hairdresser back home.
Suddenly, all the emotions you had been holding for the past couple of months rose within you. All the anger, hurt and love you felt towards him were all present inside you, making you extremely confused as to how you felt.
“You came.” He stated, his eyes growing wide as he realized what was going on, you were here.
“I did.” You confirmed, more to yourself than to him. Suddenly, you regretted coming here, but at the same time, you were so grateful to see him. Almost as if seeing him just confirmed that you’re relationship truly happened, that it was real and wasn’t just something you made up in your sleep, that he was real.
“Come in.” He said, opening up his door completely for you to walk in. There was still a couple of boxes in the corner of his living room, and there was barely any furniture, meaning he hadn’t been back for a while.
As the two of you walked into his living room, it was the first time you truly saw him. The lights in the hallway were dimed down considering the time, and all the lights in his kitchen and entry way were turned off. His skin was tanned, his muscles were more defined than they were back in spring, but one of the first thing you had noticed was his arm, more specifically his left one. It was now home to not one, but two tattoos.
You knew he was planning on getting some soon, it was something he talked about a lot during your relationship, but he never figured out what to get.
“A spider? Seriously?” You laughed as the two of you sat down on his couch. He gave you a weird look before realizing you were looking at his tattoos.
“Spiderman.” He answered with shrug, making you roll your eyes with a smile before letting your eyes drift over to the TV. Your heart dropped slightly as you realized what he was watching, Shameless, your favourite show. He had never watched it before the two of you started dating, and you quickly made sure to make him watch all the episodes, gasping when he informed you he’d never seen it before. You were about to mention it to him, but the screen went black before any words could leave your mouth.
“So, how you been?” He asked, his words a little slurred. You looked over at him, only to see he was already looking at you with a way too familiar look. A look he always had on his face when he’d be talking to you, or at any moment really, one that was reserved just for you and no one else. Only making you wonder even more why he had ended things between the two of you.
My brain goes, “Ah”
Can’t hear my thoughts (I cannot hear my thoughts)
Like blah-blah-blah (Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah)
Should probably not
I should probably, probably not
I should probably, probably not
“Seriously? You break up with me for no reason, then five months later you call me, drunk, asking me to come over to talk, and all you have you say is ‘how you been’?” You asked, the anger in you taking control. Trevor looked down at his lap at your words. He knew calling you was a bad idea, he didn’t even know why he decided to do it in the first place. Sure, he had been thinking about it ever since he walked out the door in April, apologize to you a million times and do anything you’d want him to if he meant he could be yours again, but he knew he couldn’t. He couldn’t break your heart even more than he already did.
“Listen, Bug, what I did, what I said, it was the worst mistake of my life.” He started, the nickname he had given slipping past his lips. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened and I was so stupid to end it. And, I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and during our relationship, but being your boyfriend was never one. I am so in love with you―”
“Then why’d you end it, Trevor?” You cut him off, your voice stern as you avoided his gaze, scared that tears would start to form in your eyes if you looked over at him.
“Because you deserve better than me. You’re the most perfect person I’ve ever met, and I know that you don’t think you are, but to me you are. You’re kind to everyone, you’re smart, you care about everyone even if they’ve done bad things, you’re perfect. And I am… am just me. I fuck up everything good that happens in my life, I hurt people without even realizing it, I am not a good person, Y/N/N. You deserve better than me.” He confessed, his voice low, almost scared that you’d hear him. After he was done, he chugged the rest of his beer before adding one more thing. “I am not good enough for you.”
“Says who?”
“Everyone. Every time you’d meet someone I know, they’d always say they didn’t understand what someone like you saw in me, like I wasn’t good enough to be your boyfriend. All my family and friends, they all love you, but they don’t understand why you’re with me, and honestly, I don’t either.” He admitted, the tone and volume in his voice not changing. You knew Trevor was a bit insecure about himself, scared that he was too high energized that people wouldn’t want to be around him, but you never knew it was this deep.
“Why didn’t you just tell me, Trev?” You asked him, your voice shaky a bit. You start to wonder how long he had been feeling this way, suddenly feeling guilty for not noticing it. The boy next to you scoffed a bit before answering as he opened another beer.
“I didn’t want to burden you with my stupid problems.”
“Trevor… you could never burden me. I care about you, so much―”
“You care about everyone.”
“Yeah, maybe I do, but I don’t care about them the way I care about you, Trevor. You’ve made me feel the best I ever have in years, you’ve helped me over come so many challenges in the last year, you’ve been there for me through everything. The way I care about you, Trev, I can’t even explain it. And I am so, so sorry I didn’t realized that something was wrong and hearing you talk about it makes me feel guilty that when you needed someone to help you, I wasn’t there.”
“You couldn’t of had known―”
“But I should’ve. I should’ve realized, Trev, and I am sorry I didn’t. You were there for me every time I was hurting, and when you were, I wasn’t.”
Seeing you tonight
It’s a bad idea right?
Seeing you tonight
It’s a bad idea right?
Seeing you tonight
It’s a bad idea right?
Seeing you tonight
Fuck it, it’s fine
Then, the next thing you knew, his lips were on yours, one of his hand cupping your cheek as your eyes grew wide. After a couple of seconds, the boy pulled back, his eyes focused on yours, and you waisted no time pulling him back in for another one.
Minutes later, your tongue met his in the middle, a small gasp leaving his mouth as you bit down on his lip. His other hand was now resting on your waist, holding you close, as one of your hand was holding onto the collar of his shirt tightly while the other was holding onto his neck. Then, both of his hands started making their way down to your thighs, softly rubbing them before picking you up and placing you on his lap, your lips never leaving each other’s.
Soon, his hands made their way back up your body, slipping under the shirt you were wearing, pulling you closer to him. Your mouths separated for split second and you took the opportunity to lift his shirt over his head, wasting no time to attack his necks with small kisses and love bites.
Groans slipped past Trevor’s mouth every time you bit down on the skin under his ear, and even more when you started moving your core over his. Your shit was next, joining his on the floor behind the couch, and this time he was the one to attack your chest. Your hips accelerating every time his mouth got closer and closer to your breasts and soon your bra joined the small pile of clothes.
“Trev!” You moaned as his lips attached around one of your nipples, pulling the hairs on the back of his neck as he did so, a loud groan echoing through his living room. Eventually, his lips left your body, your foreheads now leaning against the other’s, mouths inches apart, as you both grinded on each other, moans leaving both of your mouths. Then, you uttered the three words he had been dying to hear in since April.
“I need you.”
Yes, I know that he’s my ex
But can’t two people reconnect?
I only see him as a friend
The biggest lie I ever said
Oh, yes, I know that he’s my ex
But can’t two people reconnect?
I only see him as a friend
I just tripped and fell into his bed
A grunt left your mouth as your back hit his mattress, his body soon leaning over yours as your lips attached, his hips meeting yours as you whined. You wanted nothing more in that moment than for his pants and underwear to disappear, as well as yours.
“So inpatient.” He mumbled as your lips parted, a smirk plastered on his face.
“Trev.” You whined, your hips leaving the comfort of the mattress to meet his, his smirk only growing even more. The forward waisted no time baring the both of your of your bottoms, creating a new pile of clothes, now in his bedroom instead of the living room.
As the morning hours rolled in, the two of you gave your everything to the other, your bodies, your wants, your heart. It was like you were back to last year, one of the happiest times of your life, spending each second that you could with the love of your life.
It was like April never happened, you had been stuck in time in March, the familiar sent of his cologne filling your nose as you feel asleep in his arms, your head tucked into his chest as his arms wrapped around your figure protectively, scared that you’d disappear and he’d lose all over again. In that moment, you felt true happiness in months, all the heartbreak and tears the boy had caused being forgotten by your undying love for him.
He was yours again, well at least for the night, but you didn’t want it to be just for tonight. You wanted him to be yours forever and always, you didn’t want to go back to how you were mere hours before, heartbroken and hung-up on the boy of your dreams. You had him right there, in your arms, and you weren’t ready to let go, not again. You lost him once, and you weren’t about to lose him twice.
At that moment, you decided that whatever happened when the two of you woke up, no matter how hard Trevor tried, or didn’t, to tell you to just forget it even happened, that it’d be best if the two of you didn’t see each other again, you weren’t gonna let him slip out of your grip without a fight like last time. You didn’t care if it took him days, or weeks to understand that there’s not other man you’d rather be with, having already decided that if you couldn’t have him, you were the spend the rest of your life alone. But, you needed him to understand that he was perfect for you, and that he was all you ever wanted.
Maybe he’ll never be yours again, but you’ll always be his.
Oh, yes, I know that he’s my ex
Can’t two people reconnect?
My brain goes, “Ah”
Can’t hear my thoughts
“Morning!” The Zegras boy exclaimed as you walked into his living room the next morning, well almost afternoon. All he was wearing was a plain pair of grey sweatpants, his boxer peaking over his waistband slightly. You had allowed yourself to dig through his closet, finding the pair of sweatpants and hoodie that were yours for most of the relationship before leaving his bedroom.
“Hi.” You whispered as you sat down on his couch. The boy sent you a small smile before throwing one of his arm on the back of the couch, something he always did.
“I just ordered breakfast, got you the same always.”
“Thank you.” You responded, and then a silence settled between the two of you as a news channel played on the TV. “How’s your head?”
“Huh?”
“You… you looked like you drank a lot last night.” You mumbled, keeping your eyes focused on the TV as you felt his looking at you.
“‘M fine. Had a little headache when I woke up, but I took an advil.” He answered, his eyes still looking at you as you nodded. “This is the part where you tell me we need to talk, isn’t it?” He added after a couple of seconds, another nod coming from you. He had a feeling about what you were about to say, and it wasn’t something he wanted to hear.
He had spent the whole morning prepping himself mentally to not break down if the words “mistake” and “forgot” left your mouth, telling himself he couldn’t just believe you’d come back after how he ended things previously. One of his solutions was avoiding eye contact, so he looked at the same place as you did, straight ahead.
“I get, I get that opening up and talking about things like insecurities is hard, Trev. It’s scary, you think people will judge you or making fun of you, of use it against you, trust me I know how it feels, but when you’re in a relationship with someone, that’s the kind of you stuff you can’t just hid from them. Especially if it makes you want to break up with them. That’s what I am here for, I am a safe space, Trev, nothing you tell me about how you feel or how you think will ever make me see you differently.
I love everything about you, Trevor, every little flaws about you just make me love you even more than I already do. To me, you’re perfect, Trevor. Everything about you is perfect to me, you’re everything I’ve ever wanted, you’re the one for me, I know you are. And I get that hearing people say that you’re not good enough for me can be hard, but trust me when I saw, you’re perfect for me.” You stated.
His heart dropped as your words filled his ears, in a good way of course. You remembered, even though you were drunk, you still remembered his confession from the previous night. Just as he was about to say something, the doorbell rang and he quick to push himself off the couch, but before he could take a step, your hand gripped his. His head turned to look at you, only when his gaze met yours, tears were pooling in your eyes.
“Don’t runaway again, Trev, please.” You begged, your voice shaky and broken. You knew him, if he walked away right now, your conversation would never continue, he’d come back in the living room and pretend that it never happened, he’d runaway from it instead of facing it, just like he did last time. He hesitated for a bit, your eyes staying locked together, before he nodded slightly and sat back down.
“It hurts. When people say all those things about me not being good enough for you, or that you could do so much better than me. I hate it.” He admitted, his eyes looking down at the floor, your hand still gripping his as you moved closer.
“Trev, look at me.” You said, and when his head didn’t move, you grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at you. His eyes were watering as he blinked repeatedly, trying to hold his tears in. “I don’t care what people say about us, you’re way more than enough for me, and yeah, maybe I could do better, but I don’t want better, I want you.”
“Maybe you could do better?” He questioned, a little confused as to why you would chose to say that to him.
“Someone that doesn’t have only three functioning brain cells.” You joked, making the boy laugh a little.
“You love it.”
“I do. I really do, Trevor. Everything about, all your flaws and everything, I love.” You spoke, your voice soft and low. Your hand that previously grabbed his chin now cupping his cheek, a soft smile appearing on his face.
“I am sorry.” He said as a tear fell from his eyes, which you were quick to wipe away before wrapping both your arms around his neck, his going around your waist as you held each other close.
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, love.” You whispered in his ear, only making his smile grow wider. In that moment, he realized that no matter issue he was dealing with, either from hockey or his personal life, you’d always be there for him, just like he always wanted to be there for you.
“Girlfriend?” He asked, making you pull your head away from his neck, but keeping your arms around him.
“Boyfriend.” You confirmed with a wide smile on your face, an identical ones plastered on Trevor’s face before the two of you leaned in and your lips locked together. Unlike all your kissed from the previous night, this one was slow and full of love. It wasn’t a quick, rushed and hungry one, no, it was one that only true lovers shared.

To say your mom was excited when you told her the news that you and Trevor were back together would be an understatement. A loud squeal came from the speaker of your phone, making you pull your phone away from your ear quickly as Trevor sent you a weird look. Before you even had time to say anything else to her, she hung out, claiming she had to go tell the good news to your father.
As for your friends, they were a little iffy about the situation, scared that the boy would break your heart once again, but eventually, they came around, realizing how in love the two of you were.
Trevor no longer ran away from his insecurities, now confronting them and talking about them with you, something you were extremely grateful for. All of his friends were over the moon when they heard that you were back together, tired of always hearing the Zegras boy mop over you.
As for you, you were the happiest you had ever been, everyday Trevor made sure to tell and show how much he loves and appreciates you, spoiling you with hugs and kisses.
 Your life was perfect again.

new and old faces
hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
samy meets a new friend at the 2024 nhl draft and picks up some old ones along the way
2.5k words
i also rewrote this 3 different times so hopefully it’s good. here’s the fic of samy meeting beckett and macklin & becoming besties & also some jealous will while they’re broken up still at the draft! i’m excited to make them closer because i think they’d get along really well :) (also sorry i post at such awk times)

samy squeezed herself past a group of people lingering by the main entrance and stumbled right through the front doors onto the busy sidewalks of las vegas. she breathed out, taking a moment to get over everyone packed into the sphere right now, but her bliss didn't last long when she realized there were people pushed against the barricades trying to get glimpses of what was going on inside by watching the screen light up as different draftees were announced.
"hey! is that samy hughes?" someone called her name causing everyone else to look in her direction. when the fans recognized her face they started going crazy for a picture or an autograph.
usually, the girl wouldn't mind, but right now she just needed a second alone, so she muttered out an apology before racing off to a place much quieter than this. she made it around the back where it was a lot less crowded and fans weren't standing on the sidewalk. another sigh of relief escaped samy's lips and for a moment she wondered why she thought she could manage this by herself.
technically, she wasn't going to be by herself. her and will talked about going to this year's draft together many, many months ago and of course the thought of breaking up didn't cross their minds when they bought the tickets. somewhere in there was will and they were supposed to sit together, but samy managed to pull some strings so she wouldn't have to and she hasn't seen him all night. not yet anyways.
she quickly tried pushing any thoughts of will away because he didn't matter and samy could do this by herself. she just needed a second to breathe away from all the people in there.
when she thought she was okay to head back in someone on one of the lower steps caught her attention. she thought it was a fan or something, but she saw the badge laying beside them and how they wore a freshly pressed anaheim ducks jersey meaning they definitely weren't a fan. actually, they looked nothing like a fan and samy quickly recognized them as one of the newest draftees: beckett sennecke.
the brunette stood dumbfounded for a moment. did she approach him or just leave him be? but then again, she worried why he was out here by himself, so samy decided to carefully walk up behind him.
"you okay?" she spoke up making him whip around in surprise.
he met her gaze, "oh, shit. yeah. sorry. i'm fine," he stumbled over his words realizing samy hughes stood feet away from him.
"are you sure?" samy raised her eyebrow, not really believing him.
"yeah. i just..i needed a second," beckett answered, but it didn't sound too convincing.
"yeah, you and me both. mind if i sit?"
the younger brunette nodded, moving over so there was more room on the step and samy sat down. another small sigh escaped her lips while the two sat in silence for a few moments. both of them seemed unsure of what to say because samy didn't want to prod if he didn't want to talk about it while beckett was just shocked samy hughes was sitting this close to him.
"my first year i was at the draft for quinn i was super overwhelmed. i think i was about..12 or something and i'd never seen so many people in one place before, so i get that all of this can be overwhelming at times," the girl started talking just because she couldn't sit in silence anymore.
"wow, that's young," beckett mumbled in almost disbelief that samy was that much younger than quinn.
the hughes laughed, "yeah, i know. then i did it two more times, but at least for luke we were in the comfort of our own home."
"i don't know, i don't think it's hit me yet that i'm now like..a member of the nhl and i went 3rd overall," the boy smiled a bit.
"you definitely looked shocked up on the screen. congratulations by the way. i think the anaheim ducks picked a good one," she met his gaze, beckett's face instantly flushing at the compliment.
"thanks, that means a lot coming from you. i didn't even think you knew who i was," he admitted shyly while samy chuckled again, her gaze falling back on the busy streets of las vegas in front of them.
"oh come on, you're a pretty big deal in the ohl. i've seen some of your highlights online," her words made beckett's red cheeks even worse because how could someone like her even know about someone like him who was just a hockey player from toronto.
"jeez, thanks. i guess you're a pretty big deal too," beckett managed making samy shake her head.
"i mean, not really. not as big as my brothers."
"well either way, i think you are. i think a lot of people think you are."
his words were endearing because samy didn't hear them a whole lot. she really didn't think people paid that much attention to her, but it was cute beckett thought so because then at least one person saw her as someone a part from her brothers who were definitely big deals.
"i guess i knew this would be a lot, but i didn't think it would be this much. all the press and sudden things i have to sign just kind of got to me and i needed a second. my mom's been calling me, but i've been ignoring her messages," beckett finally opened up more, his voice becoming small.
"hey, i get it. this is a lot and it's okay that you need to take a second. i would too if thousands of people are watching me walk down to a stage after just getting drafted. last year, i think will, ryan, and gabe took a second to themselves during the night because it was a lot," samy reassured the younger boy that he didn't need to explain himself. she's been doing this for four years now and she totally understood that these players weren't gonna have a happy face all the time throughout the night.
"i'm actually kind of glad you came out here because i think i would've started really overthinking if you didn't," beckett laughed a little while samy's expression softened out.
"i know it's corny to say this, but you're gonna be in good hands. if you know trevor zegras, he's close with jack, and i know he'll make sure to take care of you or i'll tell him too if he doesn't."
"wow, thanks. i'll keep an eye out for him then. say you recommended me," that made both of them laugh out loud.
"you don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but what made you not choose hockey because i know you were pretty good," beckett asked after they fell into a quick, comfortable silence.
"uh..i guess just that i started really falling in love with soccer as i kept playing. something just called out to me when my coach said she could see me going far, so i picked it up full time and stopped playing hockey competitively," samy shrugged a bit.
"well, you're super good at soccer. i've seen some of your highlights too," the two shared a smile.
one of the back doors bursted open, startling samy and beckett as they spun around, "found him! where have you been?" macklin came through the door with a few other boys on his tail, specifically teddy, cole, zeev, and will.
samy quickly adverted her gaze before she met will's. "oh, hey. sorry. needed some air. i ran into samy," beckett stood up.
"samy hughes? no way, we've been trying to find you since this started," teddy chuckled, quickly bringing the girl into a quick hug.
"hey, it's good to finally run into you guys," she smiled, going to hug cole and zeev as well.
will hung back, putting himself into conversation with macklin so samy didn't have to awkwardly hug them in front of everyone. "how've you been?" teddy wondered.
"i've been good. doing a bunch of camps and stuff, so i've had a fairly busy summer," samy focused her attention on the three boys so she wouldn't look over at will only feet away from her.
"we've just been finishing up ntdp before getting ready for college," cole explained for the three of them.
"i can't believe you guys are gonna be in college already. i remember you guys being babies with everyone else," the youngest hughes teasingly squeezed their cheeks making them push her hands away.
"alright, alright. it wasn't that long ago. you know macklin celebrini, right?" zeev nodded towards the other brunette standing with them.
she looked over at the boy who smiled with a shy wave, completely ignoring will standing right beside him where he was most definitely looking at her now, "yeah, i do. you played for canada in the world juniors, right?"
"yeah, that's me. it's good to officially meet you," the two of them exchanged a quick handshake.
they all started talking with one another, catching up with samy while will lingered in the back. his hands were stuffed deep into his pockets while he watched his friends talk up his ex either poking at her or joking around while they spoke. he tried not to, but his jaw clenched seeing them be so up close and friendly.
will swore that even though he loved them, they always flirted with samy last year whenever she came up to watch the games and the worse part was that she indulged in it every time. will knew samy wasn't that kind of person and she was just super friendly, but the guys knew what they were doing and they knew will liked her, yet they flirted with her right in front of him like right now.
and that really irritated the blonde.
what irritated will even more was how good samy looked. her skin was glowing underneath the harsh lights of the sphere and just everything about her made the hockey player weak at the knees. her hair, her dress, her makeup, everything. will's eyes couldn't leave hers no matter how hard he tried looking away and swallowing his urge to pull her away from all of them.
she wouldn't even look at him. as soon as he stumbled outside with the others, she avoided his gaze and sure, he deserved that, but it still hurt real bad.
zeev was probably the worst one as he grabbed samy's arm whenever she made a joke that made him laugh. he knew everything from will, yet here he was flirting with his ex as if he wanted her.
"will, get over here!" teddy exclaimed and now everyone's eyes were on the blonde. he shuffled his way towards their group between cole and zeev, but across from samy. her eyes were anywhere but him.
"we need to all hang out again. i miss this and being with you guys," cole smiled a bit sadly making the others frown.
"maybe i can see if you guys can come up for the lake house later on? i think that would be fun and i can get the other guys there too," samy piped up and all the guys quickly agreed with her.
"that would be awesome. personal invite to the hughes lake house? count me in," macklin said making everyone laugh.
"i'll ask my brothers, but i'm sure they'll say yes," the girl grinned.
that idea prompted them to start talking about what they'd do when they were there, but will felt like he was physically going to throw up hearing all this talk and thinking about these guys being close to samy in nothing but a t-shirt and her bathing suit. the blonde couldn't think about them eyeing her and he couldn't do anything about it because they weren't together anymore.
he grabbed at zeev's arm, pulling him away, "we should go back in."
"yeah, sure. guys, wanna head back in?" the darker-haired boy called to the others.
they all simultaneously agreed and followed each other back into the crowded arena, trying to stick close together so they wouldn't lose one another.
"you okay? you look angry," zeev wondered out of earshot from the others.
"fine," the blonde muttered because he wasn't gonna get into it about his ex girlfriend when she was right there.
"are you sure?"
"yeah, i'm fine. let's just go back to our seats," will almost snapped. zeev threw his hands up in defense.
"shit, what's gotten into you?" his words blew steam from will's ears as he spun around in the crowd. the two of them stopped while the others were still a ways behind.
"what's gotten into me? you're fucking flirting with my ex girlfriend like i'm not right there!" will let the anger and jealousy get the better of him.
zeev's face twisted, "what the hell are you on about? we weren't flirting with her."
"yes you were. i could see it with my own eyes," will argued back.
"why does it even matter anyway? she isn't your girlfriend anymore. she's your ex," zeev crossed his arms.
"that doesn't mean you can flirt with her! ever heard about bro code?"
"oh fuck off. you're not even dating her anymore and she doesn't even wanna talk to you. sorry she's our friend still, too," they were now arguing in the middle of the arena and people were starting to look.
"yeah, but you've been flirting with her since dev program! even when you knew i liked her!" will's yelling caught the attention of everyone else including samy and the guys behind them.
the other four slowed to a stop while will's face burned hot red in embarrassment. zeev didn't know what to say, eyeing the others behind them. "dude, come on. let's not do this here," the boy tried pulling will away before the others caught on.
"just leave me alone," will mumbled, storming off into the crowd.
samy met zeev's eyes, trying to read what just happened. the younger boy's face burned a little bit too as he avoided everyone else's gaze.
"we're gonna go back to our seats," he mumbled before disappearing as well.
"what happened?" teddy wondered since they were too far behind to hear what the argument was about.
samy had a small inkling, but she wasn't gonna say anything in front of them. even though they were broken up, she could still read will like the back of her hand and she knew jealousy when she saw it. it was clear on the blonde's demeanor, especially when his eyes never left her when they were outside talking.
"i don't know. where are you guys sitting?" samy changed the subject, hoping they'd just drop it too.
"i have more press to do, but we can all meet back at the hotel later?" macklin suggested and the others liked that idea.
"you get 'em tiger!" cole shook macklin's shoulders before the brunette disappeared into the crowd.
"we're sitting high up, you can sit with us if you want?" teddy suggested to samy and beckett.
the two nodded and quickly disappeared into the crowd while samy's scanned for will who couldn't be seen anymore because he disappeared into one of the bathrooms to calm himself down before he exploded on everyone.

Instead of taking the bus back with the team, Jamie takes Trevor’s rental car to the hotel with (Y/N). Cronin didn’t give him any issues when he said he was going to get a ride back. Probably because Jamie played well during the game and had an assist on the Ducks’ only goal. All he has to do is be on time for the flight back to Anaheim in the morning.
The ride to the hotel feels like an eternity in Las Vegas traffic. (Y/N) thinks Los Angeles and New York traffic is terrible but Vegas on a warm night is just as bad. All she wants to do is spend the night with her boyfriend and show him how proud she is of him.
She keeps a hand on Jamie’s leg the entire drive back to the hotel. Jamie has a hand resting on hers while he responds to some texts on his phone. Music is playing at a soft level so they aren’t driving back in complete silence.
Jamie chuckles beside her and she glances over at him when they stop at a red light. "The team found out that I wasn't getting on the bus with them and Trevor told them why so now they're all making comments in the group chat," he tells her. "Some of the comments are funny."
(Y/N) smiles and keeps her eyes on the road. "I'm glad that they feel like they can still tease you considering this was your first game back after injury and your contract dispute," she replies.
"Me too."
She parks the car when she gets to the hotel. This time the car is parked closer to the entrance since she doesn't have to hide from the Ducks or Jamie. Jamie grabs her hand as they walk inside. She can't help but smile at how he is being so public with his affection.
He normally isn't like this, but she's never minded a little PDA. Jamie isn't normally a fan of PDA. They'll hold hands occasionally, but they never do when he thinks his teammates will be around. Jamie doesn't like some of the comments they, mostly Trevor and Mason, make when they show affection.
Of course a couple of Ducks players are sitting in the lobby when (Y/N) and Jamie walk into the hotel. One of them whistles to get their attention. She looks over and sees Frank, Mason, Rico, and Cam are all sitting in the lounge area across from the check-in desk.
Rico and Frank have grins on their faces. Mason smiles and shouts, "Get it, Jimmy!"
(Y/N) looks up at Jamie, who finally looks over at Mason. "Be glad I'm not going to be on the same floor as you," he retorts. "You wouldn't be saying that if I was."
Mason's jaw drops and Jamie snickers as he pulls (Y/N) to the elevator. She clicks the button for her floor as the doors shut. Jamie wastes no time in the empty elevator and presses her against the cool wall by her waist.
"You can't wait a few more minutes?" she giggles.
"You're a sight in my jersey, (Y/N)," he tells her as he leans and nips at her jaw. "Plus, I've really missed you. I wasn't expecting to see you here when you're supposed to be in New York for another week."
She melts against Jamie and wraps her arms around his neck. "I had to be there for your first game," she manages to get out. "I haven't watched you play NHL hockey yet."
The elevator dings and Jamie backs away just in case anyone is on the other side of the doors. There is no one so (Y/N) grabs his hand and walks down the hallway to her room. She digs in her pocket for the key as they stumble down the hallway.
As she grabs her key when they reach her door, Jamie comes up behind her and wraps his arms around her waist. He moves her hair off her shoulder and begins kissing her neck. "Jamie," she gasps as she unlocks the door with the key. "We're literally right outside the room."
"Get inside the room," he mumbles against her skin.
"So needy," she teases as she pushes the door open. Jamie stumbles into the room behind her.
The door shuts and Jamie is quick to spin them around to (Y/N) is being pressed against the wall right by the door. She gasps and stares up at Jamie. "You have no idea how much I've missed you," he says to her as he presses himself against her.
Something pokes at (Y/N)'s waist and she smiles. "I think I might have an idea," she replies as she snakes her hand between them. She palms Jamie over the pants of his arrival suit. He lets out a low groan.
"Fuck," he breathes out. She presses a little harder and he lets out a soft gasp. "Oh, fuck me."
She uses her other hand to begin unbuttoning Jamie's button up that he's wearing under his jacket as her lips attach to his neck right under his jaw. She's gotten pretty good at unbuttoning his shirts with one hand recently. It drives Jamie crazy that she can do this.
As soon as his shirt is unbuttoned and untucked from his pants, she trails kisses down his neck to his chest. "(Y/N)," he sighs as she nips at his chest. "Bed. Now."
"Take me to bed, Jamie," she challenges.
Without missing a beat, Jamie lifts her up. She sequels and wraps herself around him as he walks fifteen feet to the closest bed.
She's still wrapped around him when he deposits her onto the mattress after crawling onto the bed on his knees. He falls and hovers on top of her as her head hits the pillows and she lets out a giggle. He smiles and looks down at her.
The sight above her is almost too much for (Y/N).
His usually soft eyes have a fire behind them that she only sees when he's turned on. She can see his freckles scattered across his nose and cheeks in the dimly lit room. The smile he has on his lips is beautiful. Jamie's beautiful.
She reaches up and cups Jamie's jaw in her hands. "I missed you," she tells him. Her voice is so soft it almost comes out as a whisper. "A month away from you is too long."
"I agree," he says. "I missed you too. I missed this."
Needing him close to her, (Y/N) pulls Jamie into a searing kiss. It's hot and needy and quick from the moment their lips connect. The kiss alone is enough to cause a warm sensation to form in her belly. She's been away from Jamie too long.
Jamie grinds the bulge of his pants against her legging covered core. He lifts one of her legs around his waist to get a better angle. She lets out a soft groan into the kiss that follows.
She pushes the jacket and unbuttoned shirt he's still wearing off his upper body. Jamie throws them somewhere on the floor without breaking the kiss. Her hands find their way to the back of his neck and her fingers curl into the hair at the base of his neck. She pulls him even closer to him.
His lips leave hers and attach to her neck. He nips at the skin but is careful not to leave any marks. Hopefully.
She sighs and reaches between them to get Jamie's pants off his body. She manages to get them down to his knees before he kicks them off. Her hand sneaks into the waistband of his boxers to get a hold of his hard dick. She gives him a few slow pumps.
Jamie begins to slowly kiss down her neck. "(Y/N)," he mumbles against her collarbone. "Jersey off."
"Get off of me then."
She feels Jamie smile before he falls onto his side. (Y/N) sits up and pulls Jamie's jersey over her head. He props himself up on his elbow and pulls at her leggings. "These too because you know I'm going to struggle getting them off and I want to get my hands on you as soon as possible," he tells her.
(Y/N) laughs and shakes her head. "I think you need to figure out how to get a pair of leggings off a woman, Jamie," she teases. "You wear compression pants all the time so I don't know how you can't get a pair of leggings off of me."
"I'm rarely ever in a rush to get my compression pants off," Jamie tells her. "Get them off, (Y/N). Please."
Another laugh falls from her lips as she lays back and lifts her hips off the mattress so she can get her leggings off. She throws them to the side and pulls Jamie back down for a tender kiss.
His hand runs up and down her right thigh. She lets her legs fall apart for him. Jamie jumps on the opportunity because he immediately slips his fingers into the waistband of her lace panties.
Yes, she wore a lace set under the jersey. She hoped that she would end up in bed with Jamie since it had been weeks. She wanted to look nice.
He runs his fingers through her already soaked folds. She wouldn't be surprised if the lace was ruined from how wet she is. Jamie hums into the kiss. "So wet," he mumbles.
"Only for you," she says between kisses. Jamie smiles and dips a finger into her. She gasps and pulls back from the kiss to look at him. "Jamie. Teasing isn't nice. Finger me or don't-"
Jamie cuts her off by fully sinking two fingers into her. She whines at the sudden but familiar feel of Jamie's fingers inside of her. "I always take care of you, baby," he tells her.
He begins to move his fingers and she sighs. Her right hands makes it over to the waistband of Jamie's boxers. She slides it in and wraps her hand around his dick. Her thumb runs over the leaking tip and uses the precome to pump him easier.
They're both a mess as they work each other closer to the edge. Jamie lets out soft groans and (Y/N) moans every time Jamie moves his fingers into her. Jamie's nose is buried against her cheek and he occasionally presses a soft kiss to her cheekbone.
Eventually, Jamie adds a third fingers. She cries out when he curls his fingers every time he moves them. "Jamie," she whines. "Jamie, Jamie Jamie."
"I've got you," he tells her, breath hitting her ear. "Come, baby. I know you want to. Come on my fingers."
His words are the reason she comes right then and there. She lets out a loud cry and her entire body shakes from the orgasm. Her back arches off the bed and closer to Jamie. Her vision goes completely white for a second.
Her legs are shaking and Jamie has his fingers in his mouth when she comes to. "Fuck," she pants as she watches Jamie suck the come off his fingers. "That's hot."
"You're hot," Jamie retorts.
(Y/N) crashes her lips to Jamie's and she swears she tastes herself on his lips. She hums and moves so she's straddling Jamie's bulge. She reaches behind her and unclasps the bra she's wearing. She lets the fabric fall off her body before it joins the rest of the clothes on the floor. Jamie's hands are immediately cupping her breasts.
Jamie sits up and wraps one of his arms around her waist. The kiss breaks and he turns his attention to her chest. His free hand grasps one breast and his mouth is on the other. He plays with her nipple and she gasps. "God, Jamie," she breathes out. "Keep this up and I'm gonna come again before you even get inside of me."
"I'd be okay with making you come three times in less than an hour," Jamie tells her. He looks up at her with his eyes as he trails kisses from one boob to the other.
She smiles and shakes her head. "Needed you in me like yesterday, Jamie," she replies. He nips at her breast and she gasps. "Baby. Come on."
"Okay, okay," he laughs. He snaps the waistband of her ruined panties. "Get these off while I grab a condom."
With zero hesitation, she falls off his lap onto her back. She lifts her hips up to pull off the panties. As she throws them to the ground, Jamie grabs a tiny silver package out of his wallet. He tears it open with his teeth as he pushes his boxers off his body. She watches as he slides its contents on his dick.
Jamie comes back over to her and crawls on top of her. She notices the layer of sweat that has formed on his forehead. She can't help but smile.
That smile quickly falters as Jamie runs the tip of his dick through her folds. "Jamie," she breathes out. "Please. Please, baby."
She wraps her legs around his waist and digs her heels into the back of his thighs. Jamie kisses her jaw and mumbles, "So beautiful like this. All mine."
(Y/N)'s smile returns as Jamie slowly slides himself into her. She wraps her arms around his neck and lets out a soft sigh as he lets her adjust to his size. It has been a month since they've had sex.
Jamie bottoms out in her and doesn't move so she can adjust. She's also extremely impatient so she rolls her hips against him. "Fuck, (Y/N)," Jamie breathes out.
"Move, Jamie," she pleads. "I swear to God-"
He slams into her so hard it makes her dizzy. "I told you that I have you," he tells her. "So fucking needy for me."
Jamie rolls his hips into her slowly but deeply. "So fucking needy for you, Jamie baby," she echoes. "Fuck."
He must use that as motivation because his pace quickens.
She's so overwhelmed by how good it feels that she nearly blacks out. She's a moaning mess beneath Jamie, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
Jamie's lips reattach to her neck and she whines.
Sex with Jamie is never the same twice, and that's what she loves most about being in bed with him. She never knows what to expect. Tonight, she gets soft Jamie that moves and touches her like she's fragile. She gets the Jamie that makes sure she's taken care of first before he worries about his own needs.
She wants that to change though.
Without warning, (Y/N) pushes Jamie to the side and rolls on top of him. All without him slipping out of her. She sits up on his dick and he looks at her with wide eyes. "You lay there and look pretty," she tells him. "You played an entire hockey game tonight. Gonna take care of you. Gonna make you feel good."
"Shit," Jamie breathes out as she begins to roll her hips. She smiles as Jamie squirms underneath her.
It's not often when she takes control in the bedroom, but she knows Jamie loves it whenever she does because of how rare it is. She loves to surprise him.
His hands rest on her waist and he helps her keep her pace. Her hands are on his torso. Soft groans fall from her lips every time she lowers herself onto him.
Her hair creates a curtain around their faces when she leans down to get her lips on Jamie's neck. He fucks up into her and she moans against his skin.
"Feel so good around me," Jamie sighs. "So tight."
"Feels so good inside me," she mumbles. "Make me come again, Jamie."
Jamie sneaks a hand between them and takes the sensitive bud between his fingers. He plays with her clit and she cries out from the slight oversensitivity. She cries out in pleasure.
"Come for me again, baby," Jamie rasps in her ear. "Come on my cock like a good girl. You want to make me feel good? Come for me."
That's the first time Jamie has talked to her like that and it's so hot.
Her second orgasm hits her harder than the first. She cries out right near Jamie's ear as she clenches around him. She has a fistful of the pillow under Jamie's head as her orgasm rips through her entire body.
She collapses on top of Jamie with a loud groan.
At some point, Jamie came inside the condom inside of her. When she comes to, her entire body is shaking and Jamie is tying off the used condom and throwing it into the trash.
"I'm gonna need you to talk to me like that more often," she pants. "Holy shit, Jamie."
"Not too much?"
"Definitely not too much."

The next morning comes way too early for (Y/N). Light is coming in through the large window that overlooks the strip. Jamie is already up and looking at her when she opens her eyes.
He smiles and mumbles, "Good morning." He nuzzles at her jaw and she laughs.
"Watching me sleep is so Edward Cullen of you," she comments as Jamie leaves soft kisses to her jaw. "But good morning."
"Team is doing breakfast before we pack up and head back to Anaheim," he tells her. "They said you're welcome to join us. Just be prepared for the comments I'm going to get when I show up to the table in the suit I was wearing yesterday."
She smiles and backs up so she can look at him. He looks so pretty in the rising sunlight. "I'll give it right back to them so you better be ready for that," she replies. "Anyway, I'm hungry. Let's go."
Without warning, she jumps out of bed. She finds one of the sports bras she packed and throws that on. She puts on one of her Ducks hockey shirts that Jamie gave her as well as a pair of shorts. She puts her hair up in a messy bun before she turns and looks at Jamie.
He's buttoning the shirt all the way up to the collar. She walks up to him and swats his hands away. "Leave these undone," she tells him as she undoes the first few buttons. "It's hot."
Jamie shakes his head as she grabs the key card from the floor. He taps her ass on the way out the door and she squeals in reply. She does get her revenge in the elevator.
The entire Ducks roster looks over at Jamie and (Y/N) as they walk into the little dining area. Conversations die out when they make their appearance and they see how disheveled Jamie looks.
Trevor is sitting at a table with Mason, Leo, Frank, and Rico. He ends up standing up and starts a round of applause that the entire team joins in on. "He survived!"
She looks up and sees Jamie's face is tomato red. She smiles and shakes her head before heading toward the food. "Barely," is all she says in reply.
"Oh shit," Mason says. Trevor's jaw drops as Jamie follows right behind (Y/N) to get something to eat.
She bets Jamie is wishing they just ordered some room service or something with the way his teammates congratulate him and tease him because he had sex.
She loves watching them tease him though. It's like they're one big happy family and she's glad that Jamie has them.

request: So I saw this video on TikTok where Trevor is checking out a girl and some people were saying that it looks like he might’ve said “oh yeah she’s  fine” something like that. can you make one where reader goes to a game with some friends, but she’s not into hockey and just went because her friends were going. Maybe they notice Trevor checking her out and tell her how he keeps skating past their section and doing a double take every time he passes her.
word count: 0.5k
you were never interested in hockey, but you weren't surprised to find yourself at the honda center late one evening. your best friend had grown up in a hockey household, and she’d detail to you all of her experiences in the sport. your other friends were interested in the sport too, so they all dragged you out to the arena to watch anaheim play.
“Okay yn, so basically what you need to know is-” your best friend was trying to explain the game to you for the thousandth time as the ducks took to the ice for warmups.
“God he's so cute,” your other friend cut off your best friend so she could gush about the players now scattered across the ice. “whos that?” your friend asked, pointing to one of the players who was standing next to his friend.
“Number 11 is Trevor Zegras, and the guy he's standing with is Mason McTavish” your best friend answered before going right back into the rules of the game. your group of friends were standing at the glass, battling through people's signs so you could see onto the ice.
“I think he's looking over here!” your friend squealed with excitement and all the girls around you started gushing about Trevor.
who’s he looking at?
he has such good hair oh my god
“YN! YN!” your friend started nudging you,
“what!” you turned to her,
“look at Trevor! oh my god he’s definitely looking at you!” she squealed again and your best friend started videoing the boys on the ice.
“what? there's no way, why would he be looking at me?” you turned to look back at the ice, and sure enough Trevor was looking at you. you couldn’t make out what he was saying to his friend, but you could see that after every few words he was turning back to look at you again.
you and your friends had a small freak out by the glass before you made your way up the stands and to your seat.
“do you think he was really looking at me? there were so many people down there, he could've been looking at anyone” you asked, excitement still laced in your tone. Trevor was really cute now that you’ve gotten a few good looks at him.
“here, let's just watch the video i took and see,” your best friend said, pulling her phone out of her jeans pocket.
the three of you sat in your seats huddled around your friend's phone, zooming in and replaying your moments with Trevor.
“okay he was definitely staring at you,” your best friend confirmed after rewatching the video for the seventh time.
“wait can you zoom in more? i wanna see what he said” your friend asked, causing your best friend to zoom in on the video.
Yeah, she’s fine Trevor clearly mouthed to his teammate.
“Oh he called you fine!” your friend giggled, pushing your shoulder lightly.
“yns first nhl hockey game and she’s being noticed by popular players… the tiktok girlies want to be you so bad” your best friend singsonged.
you couldn’t hide your smile for the rest of the game. maybe you were interested in hockey after all?

Trevor blurb using the last prompt from the first prompt list?
“this sounds like you’re flirting with me.” “...i have been trying to do that for three years now.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trevor zegras x Hughes! Sister
Warnings?; drinking, drunk people, fluff?, a kiss, cursing
Reader is jacks twin!
It was another summer night spent around the bonfire at your twin and older brothers lake house with a group of close friends, old teammates, and new teammates.
Everyone was roasting s’mores and taking sips of their drinks as there were multiple conversations going. You were currently in a very serious conversation with Brady and Quinn about the best Koolaid flavor.
“Ew Brady, you did not just say grape is the best!” You exclaimed at the captain.
“I did because it is” he shrugged
“Quinn! Get your friend” you said adding a fake gag at the end.
He just laughed at you two bickering over something as stupid as a koolaid flavor.
You were about to go into a deep dive on why no other flavor could top blue when Trevor calling your name got your attention.
“Y/n! Can you help me with my s’more? This doesn’t taste as good as they do when you make them” he asked.
“Of course” you said getting out of your chair and heading over to him.
You took a seat on his lap, which to any normal person would be weird considering you two weren’t dating but the group were all used to it.
You two settled into a easy conversation as you made him s’more after s’more. “I swear your a goddess at making these” he told you as he swallowed his last bite of his fourth s’more.
“But” he started before taking a drink of his beer, “then again everything you do is perfect so” he trailed off shrugging his shoulders and leaning his head on your shoulder.
“Sounds like your flirting with me there Zegras” you jokingly let out, but he went silent besides the slight hitch of his breath you heard.
“I…have been trying to do that for three years now” he told you with an awkward laugh.
“What?” You asked slightly turning on him but you were acting faster then you could think because next thing you knew, you were pulling him up and announcing to everyone you two were going to get more drinks.
As the two of you got into the kitchen you turned to look at him but his eyes were everywhere besides you.
“Trevor, were you being serious out there? You’ve been trying to flirt with me for three years?” You asked him.
“I..yeah, and I know it’s probably weird since we’re so close but I don’t know, your just you and ever since three summers ago I’ve seen you as more then my best friend” he said finally making eye contact with you.
“Can I ask when you noticed you felt that way?” You asked him.
“It’s kinda embarrassing” he mumbled , “plus you probably don’t even feel the same way”
“But I do Z, I was just scared of getting rejected. I hear my brother talk about all the hot girls your getting in Anaheim and it made me feel like I didn’t have a chance so I didn’t ever bring it up” you admitted looking down at the floor.
“What!? Since when?” He asked surprised.
“I asked you first”
“Fine, it was back in that July when you were going on that date with that prick Adam and he stood you up, I realized when I was helping you pick out your outfit that I didn’t want you going out with anybody, I wanted it to be me but your my best friends twin sister” he admitted to you, a light blush coating his cheeks.
“It was the same summer for me, when you brought that girl Skyler here and she was all over you, it really pissed me off and I didn’t understand why but then that night I realized I had feelings for you” you told him looking up at him.
He smiled at you before cupping your face and running his thumb over your cheek, “Can I kiss you?” He asked
“Please do” you replied with a small laugh.
He placed his lips on yours, it was slow and sweet but only lasted a moment as you heard your twin and older brother both yell.
“WHAT THE FUCK?” Came from Quinn while
“Cole! Pay up bitch, I told you they were in here macking on each other!” Came from Jack

this town - trevor zegras
Tumblr media
summary: as you roam the busy streets of chicago, you run into a painfully familiar new york born boy who’s currently living on the west coast.
roughly inspired by this town by niall horan! so feel free to play that song while you read if you want!
trying a new format?! also hi i’m popping in to write a little something for no reason :) this is definitely not my best work but ohhh well
as you dodge the little pieces of trash on the concrete, your headphones rest upon your ears playing all kinds of music you love. the tote bag resting on your shoulder holds all kinds of clutter, which is something nearly everyone teases you for. the only person who never teased you for it was trevor. it used to be his favorite thing. he loved how you always had things like tangled earbuds you’d never used crumpled at the bottom, or even a book you’d barely even opened since you bought it resting in your bag.
you and trevor were practically the it couple of plymouth high school, but that was until you guys ended a month after he got drafted. you found out when he’d gone to development camp in anaheim, he kissed another girl at a bar with his new teammates. it broke you to pieces, but what you didn’t know was that it broke trevor even more. you swore to never speak to him again, and you’ve kept that promise. you moved out of michigan for college, and you’ve been thriving. chicago is treating you well, and so has northwestern. you’ve avoided anything trevor related for as long as possible. skipping past any ducks games on tv, even if it’s your favorite team against them.
while your beat up converse pad across the street and your ripped jeans hug you perfectly, you notice all of the tourists surrounding you. you also notice a large group of boys around your age walking your way. as you get closer, your breath hitches. it feels like the entire world stops when you see him, and suddenly your feet bring you to a halt. your head hesitantly turns around, and so does his. the people walking behind you groan at your sudden stop and walk around you, as you stand there in shock. trevor’s group of friends notice he’s no longer walking with them and turn around to see what he’s doing. his action in question being staring at you.
“y/n, hi,” he says breaking the awkward silence.
“trevor,” you softly say.
“how’ve you been? how’s chicago?”
“it’s amazing. i love it,” you say as you begin to fidget with your fingers.
“i’m glad. i know you were nervous to start college,” he says with a small smile curling at the corners of his lips. suddenly he gasps, “i’m so sorry guys, i’m so rude! this is y/n. y/n meet some of my teammates!”
you quickly realize these are most likely the same guys who pressured him into cheating on you, and you get even more upset at the situation. “hi,” you say with a fake smile. one of the boys speak up after a few silent moments, “hey z we’re gonna go back to the hotel, take your time catching up,” the darker haired boy says. trevor nods at the boy and turns back to you.
“so, what are you doing in chicago?” you ask.
“oh we have a game tomorrow night against the blackhawks. are you gonna go?”
“i have schoolwork trevor, not everyone got out of college the easy way,” you chuckle, and trevor rolls his eyes.
“hey do you maybe uh, want to get coffee? or something?” trevor asks as his hand rubs the back of his neck. your heart falls into your stomach as memories flood. memories of when he told you what had happened in anaheim, in your guys favorite coffee shop. he barely even looked upset when he told you, just like how he looks perfectly fine with seeing you now. no guilt? nothing?
“i uh, i really need to go. it was great seeing you though,” you say as you begin to walk away. no matter how many white lies you tell, you truthfully haven’t been the same without trevor, but apparently he’s been just fine.
it’s a restful evening, but a knock on your apartment door startles you. as you slowly approach the door, and look through the small peephole, you see trevor. he’s stood there with a bouquet of your favorite flowers in hand. you sigh and open the door, “trevor? how did you find my apartment?”
“don’t worry about it, okay? i’m just here to apologize.”
“apologize for what?”
“everything,” his tongue darts out to lick his lips as he pauses his sentence.
“trevo-“ you begin, but he cuts you off. “shh, let me explain okay?” he says and you nod, meanwhile taking the flowers from his arms.
“i was so young and so stupid back then. i never realized just exactly what i’d be losing and how much it would impact me. waking up without knowing you’re apart of my life kills me more and more. as cheesy as it sounds, it’s true, y/n.”
your wide variety of emotions make you unable to find the right words, but eventually you’re able to string out a sentence. “why are you here now? why years later? you’ve known i’ve been in chicago. why are you just now telling me this?”
“because i wanted to so badly respect your choice. i know you’ve been avoiding me, and i don’t blame you. i mean we live across the country, sure, but there’s so many forms of communication, yet you never reached out. so i figured you were avoiding me, and i wanted to respect that. but now that i’ve seen you in person, i couldn’t help but feel that this is what’s right. no matter where i go, or who i’m with, it’s like i’m constantly chasing your shadow down the street. i always look for a little bit of you in everyone. everything always comes back to you.”

Soon to be bride | T Zegras
Tumblr media
summary: when you meet again, you’re about to get married.
-
Every summer Trevor returned to Boston for a couple weeks, always missing the place he had gone to college.
They’d go out partying just like he had in the dorms all those years before.
You’d landed at paradise rock with your bridesmaids, all making a fool of yourselves with the tacky veils, the inflatable penises and ‘future wife’ glasses on.
Trevor spotted you from across the bar, watching with a smirk as you leaned across the bar and shouted your order to the bartender.
“Hey isn’t that Y/N?” Jake asks, nudging Trevor and pointing to you.
Trevor cocks his head to the side, studying your face before he realises it is you.
“Oh, it is! Damn I haven’t seen her since college! She’s getting married?”
He left his seat and waded through the crowd until he got to you, his hand flat on your lower back while he leaned forward to whisper in your ear
“Long time no see”
You spin around with wide eyes “Zegras!” And throw your arms around his neck to hug him.
He holds you tightly with a slight sway between you both, something similar to how the two of you used to hold one another in your dorm rooms back in college.
When you finally pull away he smiles and looks you up and down “So… a wifey huh?”
You blush, doing a little spin for him “Uh-huh! You remember Lucas from our management class?”
Trevor doesn’t. He never paid attention to the class nevermind anyone in it. He nods anyway.
“Yeah! Congrats!” Once again his eyes rake over your body “You look good”
You smirk and shove him playfully “Mr Zegras I am a taken woman”
“Never stopped us before” Is all he says before the bartender interrupts by handing your drink, you don’t get the chance to give him the cash before Trevor shouts over the music
“Just put her stuff on my tab!”
You smiled and kissed his cheek before mumbling “Thanks T, you’re the best” before heading back to your party.
Trevor’s eyes didn’t leave you for the entirety of the night, ignoring all female attention just to watch you.
He watched you shake your hips, dancing on your friends and downing shots after shots. His eyes hung over the edge of your white mini dress, how your boobs hung out over the top slightly — leaving his mind to make up the rest of the image and how the dress rode up to reveal the bottom of your ass.
At some point your groups had merged, everyone mingling with one another.
You and Trevor had found your way back to one another, now sat awfully close in the booth chatting away.
You asked him about Anaheim and how hockey was going and he tried desperately to avoid talking about your future husband.
You hadn’t noticed his hand on you thigh or how he squeezed it when he made you laugh, not until it had ridden up your thigh so high that any further you’d get kicked out for indecency.
“So when’s the wedding?” He asks, biting the bullet.
“The day after tomorrow” You answer, sipping your vodka. You didn’t miss the look that dawned over his face.
It takes him a moment to compose himself before he leans in, really close and whispers “does he make you feel like I did?”
You’re taken a back, clenching your thighs at the raspiness of his voice. When you don’t answer he raises his eyebrow as you prompt you to answer and you shake your head almost with a whimper before saying
“Nobody can” and turning to get out of the booth and away from Trevor.
He watches with a slightly ajar mouth as you strut away to the bathroom. It takes him a moment before he pushes his way out of the booth too, scurrying behind you.
He catches you in the hallway, grabbing your wrist and pulling you back. You make a noise of surprise as he pushes your back up against the wall, his lips are on yours and he’s kissing you.
Your hand grabs his hair and you’re trying to push him closer to you, as if that was humanly possible. He finally pulls away and you’re both breathless.
“I’m getting married T” You sigh, pushing him away from you with no success “Y/N… you kissed me back, do you really want to be with this guy?”
You shake your head, slipping out of his hold “This is wrong and I’m such a horrible - oh god Trevor what have we done!”
He doesn’t get the chance to respond before you’re taking off down the corridor out of the bar.
He’s left staring at the floor and mutters “And I let her go… again”
By the time he’d gotten back to the table your friends had all disappeared leaving only his friends sitting looking at him waiting for him to say something
“What did you do?” Jake asks and Trevor just sighs, taking the nearest drink and sipping
“I fucked it up with her… again”
“Are you gonna go find her?”
Trevor thinks for a moment before he says “Nah, I’m never gonna see her again. I think this was it for good”
He thought he’d never see you again until you showed up at his Airbnb, dressed in your wedding dress with mascara dripping down your cheeks.
“I couldn’t do it, I can’t marry him! I want-“
Trevor pulls you into his arms and hushes you “I know babe, I’ve got you now and I’m not letting go again”

POLL RESULTS JUST DROPPED!!
My hockeyblr experiences are largely catered to my own personal tastes -- mostly Leafs, a little Penguins and Stars, one or two who post about Stevie Y and Sergei Fedorov. These are obviously not the only teams out there.
This study was designed to survey as much of hockeyblr as it possibly could, gathering data on which teams people like and to what degrees. There were five questions and a free space -- my attempt to ask people to rank the teams they enjoyed in three levels, from religiously followed to casually affectionate, and an additional couple of questions on love for players versus team. I received over 500 responses. Here are the results.
Yeah, yeah, you all want to know: The most popular team is the Penguins, by a long shot, then the Leafs.
Because my sample size (n = 523) is actually fairly small compared to the number of NHL teams there are, I find definitive rankings tend to be difficult. It’s also worth noting that, as a mainly Leafs blog, my numbers are definitely going to be skewed a little in favour of the Leafs.
Your Guys
These are the teams closest to your heart: the ship you go down with, metaphorically or, depending on how married your old men are, literally. For me, I picked just the Leafs.
The average respondent had 1.9 teams in this category. The most popular, by far, was the Pittsburgh Penguins. Below is a table of teams, arranged roughly into tiers by the number of respondents. Each team has the number of respondents in brackets next to their three-letter code.
Tumblr media
I allowed people to pick as many teams as they would like; the average person picked 1.9 teams, but here’s a distribution of how many teams they picked:
Tumblr media
4 people picked 0 “your guys” teams, and 2 people picked seven, nine, or ten each teams. Just about half of people had one main team.
I then wondered: what teams were people most likely to only follow? That is, if you hold [x] team in the closest part of your heart, are you more or less likely to also hold any other teams? Almost exactly 25% of picks were solo; I wondered if there was any correlation at all.
Tumblr media
Only a little bit! Of the samples large enough to actually consider (so: nothing in that cluster at the bottom left, who all received fewer than 10 picks total, and a few of whom -- CGY, CHI, NSH -- received zero solo pickers), the most devoted fans chose the Sharks, the Bruins, and the Leafs. The fans who liked the most other teams chose the Avs, the Kraken, the Canucks, Panthers, Sens, and Ducks.
Probably a next step would be to look for correlations: if people are a fan of one team, are they more likely to be fans of another? THAT BEING SAID that’s a lot of regressions. Maybe keep an eye on that for the future, but I don’t know!!
Objects of Enjoyment, and Generally Nice
These two were successive tiers meant to distinguish teams that people like from the ones in the category above. I admit I probably could have phrased the questions better; I received several comments saying that they’d watch any hockey when they wanted to put a game on. The dynamics between Your Guys versus Objects of Enjoyment versus Generally Nice would best be described as devoted fan of versus casual fan of versus favourable opinion towards.
As I said a few paragraphs back, people picked 1.9 “devoted fan” teams on average. Again on average, they picked 4.7 “casual fan” teams and 6.5 “favourable opinion” teams. Not all ratios are equal, though! Some teams had significantly more casual than devoted fans, and others still were much more liked generally than average.
I gave each team’s “devoted” count an index number of 1 and measured their casual and favourable count as a ratio against the index number. The teams assembled themselves into a few groups.
No Commitment
Tumblr media
Arizona and Anaheim have decided to be soulbonded (Excel refuses to let them have different-coloured dots) and it took me three hundred million years to attempt to (and unsuccessfully) fix, so let’s ignore that. These teams all have a fairly high slope of interest -- a range of casual interest at about five times the pace of fervent interest, and good opinion at about ten times fervent interest. The Calgary Flames are an outlier on the entire graph, not just here.
Casual Interest
Tumblr media
I gave up on trying to colour teams according to their real colours shortly after the Anaheim/Arizona debacle. Please employ the legend. Nashville is included on all five graphs for reference. These teams all have a casual interest factor of about 3, and a favourable opinion factor of around 5; the same ratio as the casual fans of the teams in the first category to their fervent fans.
Saturated Market
Tumblr media
These teams have a much lower ratio of hardcore:casual:favourable fans, at about 1:2:3.
We Get It, Those Are Your Guys
Tumblr media
Pittsburgh and Toronto; these teams have an almost equal ratio of all three categories.
...Whatever This Is
Tumblr media
Every other category is defined by its ratios; this category is defined by its shape. While all teams have their rate of hardcore fandom set as 1, the other two tend to increase in a roughly linear form, without too much significant difference between the first interval and the second interval.
These teams, though (again, Nashville is for scale) don’t do that: they have a set increase between hardcore and casual, and a significantly smaller increase (or, in a couple cases, a decrease) between casual and favourable. This suggests perhaps some kind of divisiveness; if you’re not already in there, do you really want to get in further? Either that, or it’s something closer to what the Leafs and Penguins have: that is, a devotion. Like you’re in or you’re out.
Taking these values together
Because the casual:hardcore ratios are measured as indexes and not absolute values, they say nothing about the actual popularity of the team in question -- Calgary is one of the least popular, which is why I assume it’s so weirdly high up; small sample sizes lead to higher error values!
But we do have the absolute values, so we can measure them against each other.
Tumblr media
If we consider the “In or Out” to be a category of its own while the other four are along more of a continuum, then we can absolutely see a correlation here -- larger fandoms tend to have more involved fanbases.
Players or Teams?
I also asked participants if their guys tended to be players or teams -- and if those they liked at a more casual level tended to be players or teams.
The results are… not particularly surprising.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On a hardcore level, people tended to prefer teams, although the variability was pretty slight. On a casual level, individual players were much more popular.
I also wondered if people who chose more teams in the hardcore fan question tended to do that because they prefer players.
On average, people who picked players on their hardcore level chose 2.1 teams. People who picked teams chose 1.7 teams. That’s definitely a difference!
Fun Shtuff
I got way more write-in responses on the hardcore player/team question than on the casual question, including this:
Tumblr media
Three separate people answered “Minnesota Wild” for their guys and chose no other teams on any level. Hell yes. (One person also did this for the Kings.)
It took about 300 responses before the first Flames fan (at the hardcore level.)
On all three levels, the Seattle Kraken are really popular -- they’re in the top five in each.
What's Next?
If I were to update this survey, I would probably include a question about where all of you are from -- some people (like me) follow their hometown team, while some people most certainly don't (shoutout to the one person from Edmonton who dislikes the Oilers) and others still don't have a hometown team (shoutout to my brasilian + european + etc mutuals and everyone else!!)
Feel free to shoot me an ask if you want me to do anything else with this data -- examine a specific team, give actual casual fan/etc counts and total aggregate rankings, anything else!

Someday, we’ll all take comfort in the internet’s “dark corners”
Tumblr media
I'm on tour with my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me on SUNDAY (Mar 24) with LAURA POITRAS in NYC, then Anaheim, and beyond!
Tumblr media
Platforms decay. Tech bosses, unconstrained by competition; regulation; ad blockers and other adversarial interoperability; and their own workers, will inevitably hollow out their platforms, using ultraflexible digital technology to siphon value away from end users and business customers, leaving behind the bare minimum of value to keep all those users locked in:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/30/go-nuts-meine-kerle/#ich-bin-ein-bratapfel
If you'd like an essay-formatted version of this thread to read or share, here's a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/03/23/evacuate-the-platforms/#let-the-platforms-burn
Enshittification is the inevitable result of high switching costs. Tech bosses are keenly attuned to opportunities to lock in their customers and users, because the harder is to leave a platform, the worse the platform can treat you – the more value it can rob you of – without risking your departure.
But platform users are a heterogeneous, lumpy mass. Different groups of users have different switching costs. An adult Facebook user of long tenure has more reasons to stay than a younger user: they have more complex social lives, with nonoverlapping social circles from high school, college, various jobs, affinity groups, and family. They are more likely to have a chronic illness, or to be caring for someone with chronic illness, and to be a member of a social media support group they value highly. They are more likely to be connected to practical communities, like little league carpool rotas.
That's the terrible irony of platform decay: the more value you get from a platform, the more cost that platform can extract, a cost denominated in your wellbeing, enjoyment and dignity.
(At this point, someone will pipe up and say, "If you're not paying for the product, you're the product." It's nonsense. Dignity, respect and fairness aren't frequent flier program perks that tech companies dribble out to their best customers. Companies will happily treat their paying customers as "products" if they think those customers can't avoid other forms of rent-extraction, such as "attention rents")
https://pluralistic.net/2023/11/06/attention-rents/#consumer-welfare-queens
Now, consider the converse proposition: for younger users, platforms deliver less value. Younger users have less complex social lives on average relative to their parents and grandparents, which means that platforms have fewer ways to sink their hooks into those young users. Further: young users tend to want things that the platforms don't want them to have, right from the first day they sign up. In particular, young users often want to conduct their socializing out of eyesight and earshot of adults, especially parents, teachers, and other authority figures. This means that a typical younger user has both more reasons to leave a platform as well as fewer reasons to stay there.
Younger people have an additional reason to bail on platforms early and often: if your online and offline social circles strongly overlap – if you see the same people at school as you do in your feed, it's much easier to reassemble your (smaller, less complex) social circle on a new platform.
And so: on average, young people like platforms less, hate them more, and have both less to lose and more to gain by leaving one platform for another. Sure, some young people are also burning with youth's neophilia. But even without that neophilia, young people are among the first to go when tech bosses start to ratchet up the enshittification.
Beyond young people, there are others who tend to jump ship early, like sex-workers:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/06/21/early-adopters/#sex-tech
Sex-workers' technology changes are only incidentally the result of some novelty-seeking impulse. The real reason to change platforms if you're a sex-worker is that the platforms are either absolutely hostile to sex-workers, or profoundly indifferent to the suffering their policy changes rain down upon them.
The same is broadly true of other disfavored groups, including those with out-of-mainstream political ideologies. Some of these groups hold progressive views, others are out-and-out Nazis, but all of them chafe at the platforms' policies at the best of times, and are far more ready to jump ship when the platforms tighten the noose on all their users.
This is where "dark corners" come in. The worst people on the internet have relocated to its so-called dark corners – privately hosted servers, groupchats, message-boards, etc. Some of these are notorious: Kiwi Farms, 4chan, 8kun, sprawling Telegram groupchats. Others only breach when they are implicated in waves of unthinkably cruel and grotesque crimes:
https://www.wired.com/story/764-com-child-predator-network/
The answer to crimes committed in the internet's dark corners is the same as for crimes committed anywhere: catch the criminals, prosecute the crimes. But a distressing number of well-meaning people observe the nexus between dark corners and the crimes that fester there, and conclude that the problem is with the dark corners, themselves.
These people observe that social media platforms like Facebook, and intermediaries like Cloudflare, DNS providers, and domain registrars constitute a "nexus of control" – chokepoints that trap the online lives of billions of people – and conclude that these gigantic corporations can and should be made "responsible" for their users:
https://www.techdirt.com/2020/06/23/hello-youve-been-referred-here-because-youre-wrong-about-section-230-communications-decency-act/
From there, it's a short leap to conclude that anyone who isn't in a position to be controlled by these too big to jail, too big to fail, relentlessly enshittifying corporations must be pushed into their demesne.
This is a deal with the devil. In the name of preventing small groups of terrible people from gathering in private, beyond the control of the world's insufferable and cruel tech barons, we risk dooming everyone else to being permanently within those unworthy billionaires' thumbs.
This is why people like Mark Zuckerberg are so eager to see an increase in "intermediary liability" rules like Section 230. Zuckerberg's greatest fear isn't having to spend more on moderators or algorithms that suppress controversial subjects:
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/03/instagram-users-outraged-by-app-limiting-political-content-ahead-of-elections/
The thing he fears the most is losing control over his users. That's why he bought Instagram: to recapture the young users who were fleeing his mismanaged, enshittified platform in droves:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/03/big-tech-cant-stop-telling-on-itself/
A legal mandate for Zuckerberg to police his users is a legal requirement that he surveil and control those users. It's fundamentally incompatible with the new drive in competition circles to force Zuckerberg and his fellow tech barons to offer gateways that make it easier to escape their grasp, by allowing users to depart Facebook and continue to socialize with the users who stay behind:
https://www.eff.org/interoperablefacebook
Remember: the more locked-in a platform user is, the harder that platform will squeeze that user, safe in the knowledge that the cost of leaving is higher than the cost of staying and tolerating the platform's abuse.
This is the problem with "feudal security" – the warlord who lures you into his castle fortress with the promise of protection from external threats is, in reality, operating a prison where no one can protect you from him:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/06/08/leona-helmsley-was-a-pioneer/#manorialism
Rather than fighting to abolish dark corners because only the worst people on the internet use them today, we should be normalizing dark corners, making it easier for every kind of user to find a cozy nook that is shaded from the baleful glare of Zuck and his fellow, eminently guillotineable tech warlords:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/15/normalize-dark-corners/
Enshittification is relentless. The collapse of the restraints that penalized tech companies who abused their users – competition, regulation, interoperability and their own workers' consciences – has inculcated every tech boss with an incurable enshittification imperative.
Efforts to make the platforms safer for their users can only take us so far. Fundamentally, these vast, centralized systems that vest authority with flawed and mediocre and frail human dictators (who fancy themselves noble, brilliant and infallible) will never be safe for human habitation. Rather than focusing on improving the platforms, we should be evacuating them:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/09/let-the-platforms-burn/
Online communities that control their own moderation policies won't always get it right. But there is a whole host of difficult moderation calls that can never be adequately handled by outsiders overseeing vast, sprawling platforms. Distinguishing friendly banter from harassment requires the context that only an insider can hope to possess.
We all deserve dark corners where we stand a chance of finding well-managed communities that can deliver the value that keeps us stuck to our decaying giant platforms. Eventually, the enshittification will chase every user off these platforms – not just kids or sex-workers or political radicals. When that happens, it sure would be nice if everyone could set up in a dark corner of their own.

“We’re ready when you are.”
“I’m good. Trev?”
“Uh yeah… I think so.”
“You’ll be fine.”
“Filming.”
“Hello! I’m Macy Grey and today we’re here with the singer-songwriter who brought you the famous album Silly Love Songs. And her lover Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks. On behalf of myself and the studio I want to thank you both for coming out today.”
“Of course! I love getting in touch with interviewers. Especially from locally known studios.”
“When I was informed you were in town for the All Stars, I wasn’t sure if you’d have the time, but I’m so happy you were able to fit us into your schedule.”
“Absolutely. I should be thanking you for letting Trevor come though. I know your forte isn’t exactly hockey players.”
Large studio interviews were a waste of time. It was something I always resented, and something that even morally never agreed with me. Large studios only wanted to get news first to make the most money. Smaller places offered a more personal environment and a more comfortable atmosphere. It was the only reason why I had invited Trevor along. I didn’t want him involved too much in the social half of my career, mostly because the industry and jealous fans could be cruel to artists’ lovers. But I reasoned with myself that one interview wouldn’t hurt. Especially with someone like Macy Grey. She was always so kind and open to friends, family, or significant others of musicians.
“To kick us off, I’d love to talk more on the exact reason why you’re in town. Everyone is aware of your successes, but let’s fill the crowd in on Trevor’s.”
“Where to start?” I glanced at Trevor, who let out that awkward wheezy laugh. He was uncharacteristically quiet, but this was a new thing for him. Usually hockey interviews happened when there were loads of other people around. These interviews were far more private. “He was voted in as one of the players this year to play in the All Stars, and he’s competing in a few skills competitions as well. He won a gold medal with Team USA one year before the NHL, he attended Boston University before being drafted.. what else?” I hoped to get him to join in, but Trevor looked fairly comfortable letting me do all the talking. I could fix that though.
“Trevor was voted most likely to cry in a haunted house this year for team superlatives.” I smirked as soon as I heard him gasp.
“Yeah, that’s enough of that,” Trevor cut in. “I’m not a baby, write that down.” He pointed toward Macy, as if the woman had some sort of notepad in her hands. “I’m just jumpy. It’s normal.” His blue eyes shifted toward me with a playful glare, Macy laughed softly at the exchange.
“Well, Trevor. It seems like you’re a pretty successful person yourself. Would you mind me asking how you two met?”
“Oh I love this story.”
“Me too,” Trevor chimed in, crossing his legs one over the other, and leaning forward like a kid during story time.
“So, I was in New York for a performance in MSG, and the Ducks were in town too for a game” I smiled, leaning back in my chair and trying to get comfortable. “My best friend had joined me for the eastern leg of the tour at the time, so we decided to go out for drinks downtown. My favorite bar in the city is 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar. So my best friend, Shelby and I, we just got two glasses of champagne and settled at a high table to watch the sunset. We’re minding our own business.. for the most part, but there’s this group of guys that are just carrying on. They’re loud and obnoxious and they look like your stereotypical frat guys. At one point Shelby had enough, and she got up to go yell at them.” I peeked at Trevor, his smile growing wider. He knew very well that this was the part where he came in. “So Shelby’s yelling at that group of guys, and I finally got up to go wrangle her. And just as I’m approaching.. I kinda stopped and asked myself if it was a good idea. Shelby doesn’t like to be told to stop much. Then I hear this voice right next to me. Scared the shit out of me. And the voice goes, “She yours?” I laughed softly, as did Macy.
“I apologized profusely for her behavior, and-“
“But I told her I wasn’t the one getting yelled at. So it didn’t bother me.” Trevor cut in with a toothy grin. “Then I bought her another glass of champagne and the rest is history.”
“Don’t forget about the part where you booked your hotel room for an extra night to see me perform.” I teased, “And bribed security into getting backstage to see me and ask for my number.”
“Those details don’t make me sound as cool though,” Trevor whined.
“That’s a really sweet story.” Macy chimed in.
“Thank you.”
“So he asked for your number, but who asked who out?”
“To simplify a long story, Trevor was beating around the bush too much for a little while, so one night be brought me flowers before an away game and I told him when he got back, we were going to go on our first date as an official couple.” Macy and I laughed in unison.
“And were there any arguments to that demand?”
“Not from me, no.” Trevor giggled. “I was more than happy to put a label on it.”
“And how long have you been together?”
“Two years. Three at the end of All Star Week.”
“How adorable! You guys must be a strong couple then.”
“Oh one hundred percent.” Trevor smiled as he spoke.
“Now, the question on everyone’s minds is.. can he sing?”
“Yes!”
“Absolutely not.” I corrected Trevor ruthlessly. “He thinks he can.. but he can’t.” I chuckled, glancing at the sandy blonde to see his look of pure betrayal.
“Does that mean we won’t be hearing any duets?”
“I wouldn’t say that,” I answered slyly, earning a surprised look from Macy. “Trev is featured on the album.. speaking. His features are mostly just backtracks.”
“I know this may be asking a lot but- is there any chance we could get a sneak peek at that?”
“For you Macy? I would love to.” I watched the girl’s eyes light up. I pulled my phone from my pocket and opened my files, scrolling through for a moment before I stood and dragged my chair closer to the woman’s.
“This song is called Spellbound. It was actually the first song I produced for this new album. I took some of my inspiration from the song Witchy Woman by the Eagles. The reason being, this was written during halloween, and that is just one of my favorite spooky songs. For this piece, I wanted it to feel supernaturally devoted to Trevor. Like.. kind of like.. like a love where one person idolizes the other, but not necessarily in an obsessive or toxic way. I think the lyrics and the tune teetering on the edge of insanity really adds to the supernatural edge and it also makes this song unique to Trevor. I can’t say I’ll ever produce another song like this, nor do I think anyone else will. Classic rock isn’t exactly my genre, nor do I plan for it to be. So this track really sticks out. Which is the main reason why I chose to give this song its own cover art. And I’ll be releasing it as the first single.” It was a lot of information to offer, but I was very passionate about the things I dedicated to Trevor. Especially this song.
Most of my music got old after constantly rerecording lyrics and harmonies, or sorting out instruments. But this song never did. I loved it through and through.
“This sounds amazing and so.. intricate. How long did it take in total from thinking of the idea to finalizing the song?”
“A full month maybe? I hadn’t been exactly itching to make a new album, so I knew if I was going to, my basis for it was going to have to be amazing. And I think I did a fairly good job.” I paused. “I hope so..”
“I’m sure it’s amazing. Let’s hear it!”
I wasted no time in playing the track, a steel guitar and stylized keyboard opening the musical scene. I was a person who loved using clips of recordings in my music, whether it was from everyday life, or a random video in my camera roll, or even if I took the recording of the sound specifically for a song. It was one of my many musical signatures, but the one I was most known for. Atop the smooth music, came the faded clinging of pans, and Trevor’s soft voice. “I can’t wait for you to be home.. Fuck I miss you so much.” It had been a voicemail, but my sound producers managed to give it a more authentic feel, as if someone was in the room with him recording instead of it being spoken into a phone mic. The music itself was fairly calm and collected. Certain instruments helped it sound taboo and old, but the lyrics were the driving factor that made it sound almost insane. A part of me worried my audience wouldn’t take to the song well, but Macy seemed enthralled from the start of the track.
I eyed her expressions carefully through every second, smiling to myself when she seemed particularly intrigued by a section. And I had to admit, it boosted my ego to hear Trevor not too far off in his own chair humming the song to himself. I could live with myself if everyone hated the song, as long as he loved it.
Near the bridge, Trevor’s voice returned, “I’m gonna keep you forever.” This section had been specifically recorded in the studio, and despite my endless attempts to get him to take it seriously, he had giggled at the end of every take. Eventually I settled on knowing I wouldn’t have it the exact way I wanted it, and we used the take with the least amount of amusement in his voice. At the end of the day when we put it all together, his laugh only ended up adding to the crazy feel of the song.
Near the end of the track, Macy finally spoke up.
“This is the weirdest and most mentally satisfying song I have ever heard.”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
“Really?”
“You’re so right, it sounds nothing like what you usually produce, but it still has your essence in it. You can tell it’s your songwriting. I think this song is going to be crazy successful. And I also think having Trevor on it is going to make people go nuts” I would be lying if I said I hadn’t thought of that. I knew my fans would love to see Trevor featured.
“Thank you so much. I’m so excited to release the song.” I admitted with a slight grin.
“I’m just excited that I’ll be able to listen to it without having to say “babe can you sing me that song” every time I wanna hear it.” Trevor teased, causing my cheeks to flush as our eyes met.
“You don’t like her singing to you?” Macy joked.
“God no. I love it when she sings. I just hate how much I get made fun of when I ask her to do it.” The three of us laughed.
“Sounds to me like you have a pretty devoted girlfriend.”
“She did write a weirdly obsessive song about me.” Trevor agreed pridefully. “The first of many, right babe?” His question made my brow rise in surprise.
“We’ll see, Ziggy.”
“That’s a good answer. Can’t give too much away just yet.” My eyes trailed back to Macy. Our time was drawing to a close. “I hate to cut us short but I think we’re reaching our limit. And I know you have your own tight schedule today.” She paused. “I really wanna thank you again for making enough time to come out. It means a lot.”
“Mace, I think I speak for the both of us when I say we had so much fun being here. You always conduct the best interviews.” The woman blushed.
“We can come back anytime.” Trevor added, catching me off guard.
“I’ll have to take you up on that offer the next time you’re in town.” Macy grinned. “I hope you both enjoy the All Stars, and rock the red carpet of course.”
“Thank you so much. We definitely hope to.”
“I’ll be watching on tv.”
