StarGazing
hey day 4 legggooooo
Meg has always loved watching the stars, Streya has definitely added to that.
StarGazing
Meg had always loved studying the stars. Looking at everything she may never reach. Now she could reach it all, Streya would happily take her to visit anything she dreamt of. She's even seen Pluto.
None of that matched up to the nights she still spent alone staring at the stars. She was curious how Streya's presence changed things. All night she hadn't seen the cosmic woman or the constellations she'd watched for most of her life. Every single one she looked for was gone. She scribbled note after note about the changes.
If Streya knew she'd probably worry. Consider the changes something bad she was doing and try to fix it. The idea of the massive woman panicking and poking at the pinprick size stars made Meg laugh.
"Why are you laughing?" Streya's voice made her jump. Meg searched for the eye colored like the planet, but couldn't find her. It was easy to think she imagined Streya was nearby.
She tried to go back to the stars, but this time they were moving. Moving too much to be a simple trick. She paled only to immediately blush when it dawned on her. The entire time she'd been staring at Streya.
The image in front of her changed until the cosmic woman was visible, or at least enough Meg could make out that she was there. Her cheeks grew warmer when she realized she'd been staring at Streya's chest. The stars that made up the flowing gown that covered the giantess disappeared. The eye Meg had searched for finally appeared.
"You're changing colors again, you promise that's not bad? I met other little beings that only change when they get hurt," Streya said. It was odd to consider someone so big was so easy to hear. Her voice should be painful, or more likely inaudible. Yet each time was calm and soft, almost a whisper.
"I'm fine, really," Meg whispered. She often fell into a whisper in response. Streya had no idea that happened. "If you want to talk we should probably head away from the planet."
That's the closest Meg ever came to asking Streya to take her out into space. Suggesting they move away, where things were just the two of them. Where no one who was afraid of the kind being who admired humanity even with the trouble it causes. The eye she could see started to sparkle, just like the stars she loved.
"I learned I could make it so just you hear me!" Streya's excitement didn't reach Meg. She didn't have an excuse to be taken off earth anymore. Streya would humor her, but for how long? She'd accept it at least. Streya herself was a marvel. One greater than the stars.
"That's amazing," Meg said. She should be happy Streya was learning more about herself. There were thousands of things the woman never thought of and now she could test them out. Meg offered her a smile, shocked to see a strand of hair hovering near her.
"Will… will you still come with me? I like when I can hold you."
Meg checked her pockets for her mini telescope then walked forward. "Of course."
The strand of hair offered a soft glow that reminded her of the oceans. That always seemed weird, the hair itself was a shade of purple. Her body started to hover as Streya changed to pull her free from her planet. The science behind the changes that took place to do this seemed impossible. Considering Streya existed there might not be any.
Meg was pulled up, the world flashing by. It was a bit surprising this never made her sick. In seconds she was away from earth, floating in space. The brief glimpses she got before Streya encompassed her vision were always amazing. Then she was set on a finger, the smooth skin still keeping her from seeing much other than the cosmic woman.
"I learned something else too," Streya said. The whisper part of her voice disappeared out in space. Meg assumed she just didn't whisper when they weren't near the planet, but she had no way to tell. "I tested it on little things from other planets. Can I try it?"
"Sure," Meg yelled. Out here it felt like she had to yell. How else would she be heard across the void of space?
Streya's finger moved and Meg with it. She got glimpses of space as she was left to the will of something impossible to comprehend. She was pressed to the forehead of the impossible woman. Her body started to heat up. The warmth was kind and welcoming. It was easy to wish it would never leave.
All too soon the warmth was gone. Meg blinked, expecting Streya's spacelike skin. Instead she met the most beautiful stars she'd ever seen. They were so small. Instinctively she reached out to one, desperate to know more, but she paused.
The arm she extended wasn't her own. It wasn’t Streya’s either. Something else that let her be in control. Looking around she found her planet, her home, small next to her. Smaller than her fingers. Whatever was done left her smaller than Streya by a large margin still. Another look around and this time she could see how the gown of stars stood out. They weren’t quite the same as the other brilliant lights.
Slowly looking up she found Streya, holding her hands together. Meg wasn’t even sure she could speak like this, but it was beautiful. Streya moved closer to her, with a massive smile. Seeing her, seeing more of her than just part of an eye, was breathtaking.
“You like all the lights right? You call them stars I think,” she asked. Her voice sounded different. More like talking to another human. The tone was light and airy, filled with kindness. As though malice could never exist in the speaker’s mind. “You can see them a lot better like this. I can’t do this for very long, but now you don’t have to be scared if you get close to the big one, what do you call it again?”
“The sun?” Meg asked. Her voice sounded like an echo. Far away, not coming from her. Streya looked at her hands again. The woman’s soft smile was one that would normally send Meg’s heart racing, but… her heart wasn’t beating at all. She wanted to ask, to know so much more.
“Yes that thing. I’ll keep you safe, look around. See what I see! Look at the little thing you live on, isn’t it beautiful?”
Meg looked at the Earth, then to all the stars around her. Beautiful wasn’t enough to describe things right now. Then she looked at Streya. The cosmic being was still massive, nearly impossible to fathom, but she stood out. Out of everything Meg could see there was nothing more beautiful floating in this void of space.
“Truly beautiful,” she whispered.
Streya grabbed the arm that Meg’s mind was tied to. She could barely see the speck the real her made up on the woman’s other hand. The impossible fingers closing over her tiny body. Someone so impossible saw her and remembered how she liked the stars. Streya was bringing her all over the solar system, a smile glowing brighter than the sun the whole time.
Meg had spent an entire life stargazing. She thought she’d dream of going up there, studying them. That she would never fully understand things, but leave something for others like her. In every dream and fantasy she never once imagined the stars would gaze back. She never wanted that gaze to turn away.

Stargazing
"Are we almost there?!" The tiny Neera asked excitedly.
"Yeah, just hang tight for a few more minutes." Aaron chuckled, passing through the unkempt grass. It had been a month since he ditched GB's headquarters for the Neera without a name. She was an interesting character, being created in a lab meant she had extensive knowledge on biology and medical terms but when Aaron asked her if she had ever seen the constellations in the sky, her response was "what's a constellation?"
That settled it, Aaron was going to take her somewhere special to celebrate her new life where she is free to explore the world around her. So he set out to go to the water tower behind the supermarket, rust had chipped away the blue paint long before the apocalypse began; which made Aaron wonder if the city ever used it. They must have because the ladder now looked like it was about to fall off if he just took one step on it, but Aaron wasn't about to walk away. He marched right up to that rickety ladder and started climbing. It groaned and wobbled but otherwise stayed steady.
"What are we doing?!" The Neera poked her head out, which prompted Aaron gently pushed her back in.
"Haven't I told you that you're not supposed to ruin your own surprise."
She let out a sigh. "Yeah, but this is taking forever!"
"Trust me, it's worth it." A smile crept on Aaron's face as he made it to the top. Memories of Aaron and his friends sneaking up the water tower to smoke pot came crashing down on him like a wave. He often wondered if any of his buddies were out there trying to survive like he was or were they torn apart by zombies like everyone else? Aaron's brown eyes wandered to the sky and all the grim thoughts were pushed away.
"We're here." Before Aaron could even open his shirt pocket, the Neera was already scrambling out, he quickly scooped her up to keep her from falling and set her down on the rusty railing.
"So what's the surprise?!"
Aaron just smiled and pointed up at the sky.
The Neera's crimson eyes lit up once she saw the blue and purple colors with speckles of white stars splattered across the night sky. "I've never seen anything like this before."
"These are things you won't find in a lab, that's for sure."
"What's that poofy looking cloud that's stretching across the sky?"
"That is the Milky Way Galaxy." Aaron said. "Before the apocalypse, there was too much light pollution for most people to see, but now it's visible every night."
Her jaw went slack. "So the old world wouldn't let you see a beautiful thing?"
"Not unless you traveled to the middle of nowhere to see it, but most people didn't have time for that."
"Did you?"
Aaron shook his head. "I was too busy working to go out to see the stars."
"Then this must be the one good reason for the world 'going to shit' as you say." She giggled.
"There are a few other good things, but yes."
"Oh yeah, like what?" Asked the Neera while crossing her arms.
Aaron swore his brain turned to mush, because he couldn't think of another good thing about this decayed world… except for one.
"Well… meeting you was pretty cool." He said sheepishly.
"Aww, aren't you sweet." The tiny woman teased.
"Yeah, it's pretty sweet that your first friend is someone as cool as me." Aaron shot back.
She scoffed. "Oh, you think you're my first friend?"
"First one who didn't poke you with needles."
"Fair enough." The Neera laughed again but let the silence of the night take over. Her eyes wandered back up to the sky, drinking in all the stars above. Unknown to her, Aaron was stealing glances of her, for there was not a star that was more beautiful than her.

Grey Landing (Part 6)
The prompt "Stargazing" made me think of Isaac Grey for some reason. The sailor who found himself in a strange land of giants returns, which is fitting considering his original few snippets came about in GT July last year. He's still working on figuring out how to communicate with the giants, who so far haven't shown much interest in returning the effort.
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5)
(Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10)
~~~
“A need a good bed,” Isaac muttered to himself. Instead, he had a coil of rope around him, a thick twist of fibers that all together was thicker around than his waist, and a bunch of fishing trash. It would be some time before he had a chance to sleep. He could probably lay himself down among the ropes and tackle and catch some rest, the rocking of the boat a reminder of how at home he usually felt on the sea. It was no hammock, this pile of ropes, but his weary bones promised not to complain.
The temptation couldn’t hold up against the looming presence not ten meters away. The giant sitting so close, his companion not far beyond him, ensured Isaac couldn’t rest just yet. He couldn’t let his guard down, not around a pair of giants he couldn’t trust yet, no matter that they hadn’t hurt him so far. He couldn’t control where he’d wake up, if he woke up at all.
So, to keep his mind off the exhaustion and the helplessness of his predicament, Isaac assessed his latest surroundings. Tangled wires lay in an angry mess under a few broken wooden objects with faded paint that looked like fish eyes and fins. Many dips in the salty water had robbed them of their colors and they’d lost the hooks that could secure them to the end of a fishing line. Old broken fishing lures that couldn’t be thrown away.
He dismissed those in favor of the few metal pieces in the pile. Moving gingerly, he sifted through them, ever wary of sharp edges and points on broken hooks and tackle. Moving things about, he found pieces in all states of disrepair.
The giants, it seemed, weren’t willing to get rid of anything, and he could hardly blame them. Back home, everyone felt the squeeze of supplies and prices, everyone knew the value of at least trying to repair and repurpose things.
Well, if Isaac was going to be dropped among the rubbish, he’d repurpose things himself before they got around to it. It was only fair.
His first pick was a three-pronged fishing hook that had lost two of its prongs just above where they branched off. The remaining barb was as sharp as ever, while the two broken off parts stuck out just enough that he was sure they could be useful somehow, but not enough that they would rest uncomfortably against his side when he claimed the thing in his belt. The barb tucked safely against his thigh, and so long as no giant grabbed him too tightly, they wouldn’t be stuck by that hook.
Otherwise, well, they’d get a lesson in some manners.
Also among the scraps, Isaac found a metal disc with holes spaced evenly along it. From the look of it, it had been part of a reel on one of those fishing poles at some point before breaking off. They’d kept the scuffed metal, and he decided to claim it as a good-sized shield just in case. Some scrapped leather cord woven through some of the holes created a handle on the inner curve of the disk and also gave him a way to sling it over his shoulders.
A shield, even a small one, could prove critical in a place where even the fish outclassed him. He’d been through enough in his life to know that over-preparation was impossible. Having some supplies to his name, even borrowed from a giant’s discard pile, eased his mind a bit.
The boat rocked and shuddered as the giants finally reeled in their latest catch. They sounded excited, and Isaac couldn’t blame them. From his low vantage point, he saw the younger giant straining with the net as a fish the size of his arm thrashed about.
A fish that size would probably feed hundreds back home. It’d only feed a few giants, but still. Isaac counted himself impressed. He settled down against the piles of rope where he’d been consigned to wait. He had the patience to hold out a bit longer.
~~~
Isaac woke with a snort as something knocked into the hull and shook through him. His heart fluttered with a momentary shock as he realized he’d dozed off after all, but he forgave himself when he remembered the ache running through his limbs. He blinked and rubbed a rough hand down his face to hasten his waking.
There wasn’t a giant hand rushing at him. Instead, one of the giants stood far overhead, looming and leaning over the boat at a vertiginous angle. Isaac stared in shock for a moment, realizing that the young giant stood on that enormous dock and the fishing boat, its sails stowed and a lantern lit, was rocking gently against it. The older giant took some rope handed off to him, doing the busy work of lashing the boat securely. The fish coolers, each the size of warehouses, already sat on the dock. Night had fallen softly around them, broken by enormous lanterns on the dock.
He didn’t have much time to think about how he’d slept through a good portion of the work of making port. The sky overhead caught his attention. The clouds had finally cleared away.
Stars, a thick blanket of them, spread over the dark canopy above. A broad cluster of them looked like a swipe of dust overhead. Isaac had never seen such a clear sky.
Not a single star among the many looked familiar. Isaac scanned as much as he could see, his skin crawling for the wrongness of the sight. It didn’t even look like the stylized charts his father had shown him from his homeland in India. Wherever he was, he hadn’t seen a chart for it.
In the midst of his startled stargazing, the older giant leaned over the bench of the boat and blocked his view. The man wore a familiar suspicious frown. He scanned over Isaac, eyes lingering on the hook at his belt. Isaac narrowed his eyes right back, not moving from where he reclined. Something about that man’s look reminded him of an uppity first mate on a ship Isaac did not miss. “Can a help you? Don’t tell me ya expected me to carry my weight‒”
The man’s hand appeared and rushed at him, cutting off his ornery complaint. “Stunt sbew, nei̯fitblei̯nd.”
Isaac flinched. If he weren’t so tired and hungry, he was sure he’d be able to leap to his feet before being grabbed up. As it was, he barely managed to move before the giant hand gathered him up in a fist, deftly avoiding the hook he wore. “A don’t know what you want,” he protested, squirming while the giant stood and exited the boat at last. “Happy to take my leave if ya’d stop with the manhandlin’!”
The giant handed him over to the other one with a grunt. Isaac found himself deposited in a pair of cupped hands before the older giant hoisted up one of the fish coolers and stomped past towards the shore. The younger giant sighed in some kind of defeat, and Isaac frowned up at him. “Don’t suppose I’ll convince you either, eh?”
The giant glanced down at him, and then rolled his eyes in what looked like exasperation.
“Aye. I’ll wait, then.”

GT July - Stargazing
uh uh I always need to write 1500+ words to get an idea across and don't feel confident being writing things that arent ~exciting~ or anxious so. I tried🌟
Rei hadn't ever really noticed that the stars were beautiful.
The night sky had always been the domain of monsters. She may have lived under the stars, but she made sure she also kept under the roots and brambles or even the earth itself to keep her distance from the thousand twinkling eyes. They were always in the background, not something to look at for long, lest she get swooped up by something unpleasant.
Tonight, she was safe, paradoxically protected by the body of a giant. Anything that might want to harm her was instead too intimidated by Kayla's sheer size to even notice her. Rei was safe to watch the stars, to let her attention drift across the endless night, to look right back into the night’s piercing gaze for as long as she liked.
Kayla’s breathing slowed to a contemplative rhythm that rose and fell around her. Rei relaxed into it, pulling the edge of the hoodie pocket over her lap. As she shifted, Kayla reached for her, offering up her hand as cover.
"Too much?" Kayla asked.
"Not yet."
Rei swayed as the muscles below her twitched so Kayla could hum acknowledgement. She leaned back and reclined against the back of her hand before it could slip away too far.
It was strange to know that the stars made humans feel small too. Both of them could lie here watching the sky for years and still neither of them would ever see the edges of the world.
She'd never imagined the world could be so big.
She'd never imagined it could be so at peace.

Stargazing
!❤️No warning this time, just fluff❤️!
----------------------
Jade just woke up. Once she realised she's alone in the bed, she got up almost immediately, dressed, and went downstairs.
When she went down to the kitchen, she saw Miles.
Miles was making breakfast, humming along to his favorite song. He was wearing a business suit covered by an apron. He was focused on making breakfast until he turned off the pan and began to pour the food. Instantly his big, beautiful brown eyes focused on his tiny wife.
"Good morning honey. How did you sleep?" he said in a gentle tone as he prepared the plates and cutlery.
"Good morning sweetheart, okay but it would be better if we were still in bed" she giggled.
"True" Miles laughed. Meanwhile, Jade came onto the table and sat down at her small table. She watched her husband serve food on their childrens plates. Everything was perfect. She couldn't believe that she'd once been afraid of him, that once Miles hadn't been her whole world. Now she couldn't imagine her life without him and without the kids.
"Kids!" Miles yelled. Jade sighed as she looked lovingly at her husband.
"What? My sunshine needs affection?" the man laughed and leaned in to kiss his wife.
Although it was probably their billionth kiss, Jade felt the same way as if it was the first one. She couldn't describe how much she loved this giant for his tenderness, love, ambition, hard work and for just being himself. When they broke apart for a moment, she looked deep into his eyes. Everything she was looking for was in his eyes. There were stars in his eyes that shone for her. He leaned in for a kiss again.
"Ew!" shouted their older daughter.

Hi! I decided that I can't write one-shots very well and for gt july i'll write short stories like this one and the ones with most likes will come out as valid series. Thx for reading! Hope you enjoyed❤️

@gianttol
I liked this idea last year, since things can easily get jumbled on Tumblr. Every prompt I fill is also put on Ao3 for ease of reading. Larger AU are added to chronologically, and smaller AU/scenarios are updated the same, just in a larger prompt collection. Whenever those get big enough, they're moved to be their own proper story.
Basically, instead of things being updated in terms of when they were written, I do my best to arrange things by when they take place in a given story. I hope to avoid confusion this way if people stumble on my Ao3, or find me through these posts.
