do you think guda here is seething a little because draco all but confirmed another version of them finished the grand order and then just got to retire and this guda now has to clean up the mess left behind. gudas notably snarkier this event so i think theyre on the same level as draco looking at all this and going "this is bullshit"

Thinking cap on and the dynamics around Guda's room are like... The most complex thing ever.
Of course, we must first refer to our stalker daisenpai Kiyohime, she's been under the bed since forever. Then there's the Hassans and the ninjas who are always on standby, apparently. There's the mini Cú Alter plushie and Tameshomo (the phone that can turn into a mini Tametomo that can fight by itself), the toys that protect Guda. There's also all the animals they got on Valentine's Day (with the exception of Xanthos, being a Hol' Horse and all). There's Douman on the ceiling. Oberon and Takasugi borrow the bed (Takasugi borrows it with Guda). The Count probably still watches Guda as they sleep even after Ordeal Call shenanigans. There's Merlin, Abby and a shit-ton of Servants watching Guda's dreams.
All I want to say is: Guda sleeps like they're fucking dead. There's no other possible way.

You know I think there's something really cool that fgo could do that most fate things simply can't in that Guda has been doing the whole chaldea thing for a while and they could have let guda age and then more viscerally tackle the fact that servants are going to stay their same age forever while guda has to age. Like I think it would be really cool if guda slowly realized that they just can't quite relate to all the teenage servants in the way they used to and that servants like boudica and Emiya have shifted away from mentoring figures to peers on their same level of life experience. anyways this is all to say I wish for guda to have a deep existential crisis about the fact that despite the world being on ice they are not and have been changed by the passage of time

Sometimes, when the sun is low, and the Storm Border is quiet, Fujimaru Ritsuka will wander across the ship, and eventually finding themself staring at the storage room full of grails, of wishes. Staring through the shelves of golden goblets Ritsuka thinks that wanting to live isn't enough. Not a strong enough reason to have made it through all they have. They've talked to all if their servant's about the wishes they would make, and all of them seem more important then their simple desire.
That there must be a more meaningful wish in their heart that they are just unaware of.
Yet whenever pushed to the brink, all of it seems to return to that one wish.
A wish to live.... what does that wish even mean for someone who sees themself more in the servants that follow them then the living people closest to them? Having more connection with the fragments of fragments of ghosts. When they have more memories of people long dead them their own family and friends.
Ritsuka doesn't know what form their wish would take.
But even as death shadow's their steps like close friend, Ritsuka refuses its embrace, staunchly holding onto life. Even as the burden they carry crushes them, Ritsuka hold's out hope, that they'll create the life they're wishing for, and find the meaning that will make it all worth it.
If Ritsuka can't, and death approaches for the final time, they hope the ghosts will take them in with open arms, just as they do now.
But as always, these musings fade as the sun rises, and as the halls of the Storm Border grow loud with chatter from both staff and servants.
Fujimaru Ritsuka knows their wish is more than enough.

ordeal call 2 is all about dantes and jalter and how much the avengers love guda etc etc BUT it also brought up a little more limbo parallels to guda
guda despite all their rage and hatred and genuine vengeance... just does not have it in them to be an avenger class servant. even when presented with the perfect opportunity to do so they simply do not have the type of rage that burns forever. they're incapable of being anything other than an ally of humanity.
an utter inability to change who they inherently are, much like limbo, who also burns with every type of hatred against humans there can be and yet does not hold any ill will towards humanity, so even though they failed to become a Beast due to not holding any sort of 'love' for humanity, they also do not hold any sort of 'hate' for it as well that would allow them to become a curse against humanity.
no ever burning grudge but also no everlasting love, the weakling last master of humanity and the most pathetic and monstrous human being are one and the same, incapable of being anyone or anything more but themselves

Guda: a medieval self-portrait
Tumblr media
Self-portrait of Guda, homilary, Frankfurt, second half of 12th century.
"The first category of figures we have considered shows the artist present in the work or in the process of creating it. To that category, we add a second type of portrait or self-portrait, in which the artist beseeches a favorable judgment for him-/herself after the work is completed.
Such is the case with the famous signed self-portrait of Guda, who represents herself within a collection of homilies in an initial D[ominus] for the octave of the Pentecost. The inscription reads: “guda peccatrix mulier scripsit q[ue] pinxit h[un]c librum (Guda, a sinful woman, wrote and painted this book).” Of the seven initials in the manuscript, this D is one of only two that contain figures. The other historiated initial comes at folio 196, the opening of the Assumptio Mariae, and contains a portrait of the virgin identified as Maria Virgo. The other five initials display dragons, interlaces, ribbons, or spirals.
Guda represented herself firmly grasping the initial with her left hand and raising her right in a gesture of salutation and expectation. I would argue that Guda carefully and consciously chose to be here. The initial opens the ninth homily of St. John chrysostom, the Sermo beati iohannes episcopi de david ubi goliad immanem hostem devicit (Sermon of the blessed Bishop John, on when David overcame the monstrous enemy Goliath), which explains the election of David. The homily also offers an occasion to meditate on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and its role in comforting the soul. In short, Guda has chosen the perfect spot in which to await the Second Coming of Christ, and this is why she represents herself as a sinner, whose activity as an artist should count in her favor at the end of time.
Guda’s self-representation in this way is analogous to the scene the scribe Swicher has staged (for the reader?) in the frontispiece of his copy of isidore of Seville’s Etymologies. Swicher’s author portrait is most original. In the upper register, Isidore of Seville is depicted in conversation with Bishop Braulio of Zaragoza, the patron of the Etymologies. In the lower register, Christ in propria persona presides at the scribe’s last judgment. Two angels busy themselves at a balance in which is weighed the very manuscript Swicher copied. The work of the scribe counts as a work of virtue: a third angel takes Swicher’s soul away through a thick cloud, whereas the devil turns around empty-handed. The Titulus attests to this: "O god, deign to have mercy on this wretched scribe. Do not consider the weight of my faults. Small though the good things may be, let them be exalted over the bad. Let night give way to light; let death itself give ground to life.”
Guda and Swicher make use of the same patterns of visibility and those patterns are not gender-specific. In both cases, the artists stage their humility and represent their belief that they might reach the heavenly kingdom through the artistic work they have done."

So, at this point, we all know what's up with Guda's hands now, right? It's sort of an open secret - no other characters have pointed it out, and Guda themselves sure as hell is never going to acknowledge it, but if you pay attention you can piece together the fact that their hands have started to necrotize from excess magical energy expenditure. You can see that the backs of their palms in the Decisive Battle Mystic Code are dark, remember what happened to Baobhan Sith after she used the Garden of Lost Will, etc.
What really gets me about this is that Guda is a kind person, and symbolically when you think of kindness you picture hands - the way they reach out to help others, a kind and comforting hand.
And now those same hands are turning dark and cold like a corpse's.

i am going to fucking eat drywall
so i was dead on about him pretending and acting for the sake of everyone else. in section 17, he was talking to eliza and here we can see what he's really think about (whether if that's true or not is debatable)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i do think there was some truth to this part before kiara came in. he really does believe this if we take into account the description kazuradrop attribute him to. he wasn't anyone special like karna, percival or nikitich, he was still a normal human who rose to infamy since becoming a pirate. he's not a hero despite what lip thought of him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he doesn't have a high opinion of himself. he undervalues what he has accomplished when he was alive, assessed that since combat-wise he is weak, it'd make sense that he was only fodder. and that made him extremely similar to guda in this regard especially if you remember the garden of lost will in lb6- guda also feared being replaced. they both did what they could to survive, and both are scared of being relegated to the side, with nothing to show for their efforts. so they both put on an act as a method of survival.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i think this is pretty similar to what guda felt with kadoc too, with the ensuing battle with kiara and bart further proving this- bart has an infinite amount of guts with the title "jealousy of blackbeard" written above. he saw that title as a failure of living up to the expectations of previous pirates, especially blackbeard, the prime example of what a pirate should be. he knew he was going to be a pirate at the point where piracy was already dying off so it didn't help matters.)
but despite all that, he managed to betray kiara and wake her up from her meditation, and it was partly because she heavily misjudged him. there is a popular quote from him that goes like:
In an honest service there is thin commons, low wages, and hard labour. In this, plenty and satiety, pleasure and ease, liberty and power; and who would not balance creditor on this side, when all the hazard that is run for it, at worst is only a sour look or two at choking? No, a merry life and a short one shall be my motto. — A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the most notorious Pyrates (1724), p.213–214
that last part is especially crucial here. sure, even if he does wish he had more time, it's antithetical to what he represented as a figure. i think guda saw it too.
Tumblr media
because despite his insecurities, he still managed to accomplish what other pirates couldn't; he stayed true to his motto. he became the most successful pirate in the golden age of piracy, and ultimately died at sea. like he succinctly put it:
Tumblr media
so anyway i think bart and guda should fuck. hard
