Brad Pitt x Reader, Keanu Reeves x Reader
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7
💐
Jen looked gorgeous. Her baby bump fully present almost stealing the show while the happy couple took their vows.
Despite the joyous atmosphere you sat uncomfortably in the wedding venue, but hopefully hid it well. It was hard to forget consequences of your action, especially when facing the ex-wife, surrounded by her loves. You felt like an interloper, you shouldn’t be here. You were more surprised you hadn’t burst into flames in the pew.
Brad wasn’t here thank god. You hadn’t seen him since that night and thanks to your hiatus from work you wouldn’t be forced to.
“You may now kiss the bride,” the officiant announced proudly as the attendees erupted in cheers and applause. You joined in the pageantry as guilt continued to eat-away at you. Only a few more hours of this before you were free to go home a wallow in the shame of your mistakes.
💐
The short walk to the reception was magical. Behind the venue guests were led down a dirt path. White flower pillars wrapped in fairy lights highlighted the trail leading to a white massive outdoor tent.
The strong scent of flowers wafted out from the opening of the tent. The inside was just a gorgeous as the outside. Flowers draped the ceiling and walls while large center pieces overflowed with blush grapes and pale flowers.
The room boomed with music while the liquor flowed freely. You would be abstaining too scared to make another drunken mistake.
There were too many tables, finding your seat was becoming a challenge. The place cards written in golden calligraphy were beautiful, but hard to read off the stark white background. You squinted, leaning toward each card trying to make out the characters.
“Do you need any help?”
You felt the gentle touch on your shoulder before his soft words hit your ears. Keanu hid his chuckle from the sight of your startled face.
“Oh hi… I didn’t know you were coming. I didn’t see you during the ceremony.”
“I just got back, I tried getting a hold of you, but never got an answer.” He explained.
You frowned in confusion. You hadn’t had any messages from him. Your phone was working you were sure. Sarah and Zoe both had texted you just yesterday.
“Something must be wrong with my phone… I never-,“ You tried to explain as you dug out your phone and quickly scan through your messages. Nothing.
Not even older messages from him. Weird.
He stands beside you watching over your shoulder as you tried to figure this out. You search his name in your contacts and its there, but when you click on it your stunned to find out that he is blocked.
“I don’t know how this happened. I swear I didn’t.” You plead your innocence with wide eyes. The way he looked at you somehow you knew he believed you to your relief.
“No worries these phones are always doing something crazy, it might have to do with a software update.” He suggested. That had to be the case. You’d seen notifications to update before, but always ignored them so that might be why.
“Weird. Of all people. I would’ve preferred if it blocked my mom instead.” You joked.
“That’s a relief I thought you might be avoiding me.”
💐
Keanu led and you followed as he helped you find your seat. He was the only face you recognized and you hoped that his placement was close to your own.
“I think this is us.” He proclaimed picking up two placards holding them side by side. You could kiss Jen for this.
“So how are things at the office?” You enquired as he pulled out your seat.
“It’s been busy, but your absence has been felt. Do you miss it?”
“I'm actually thinking about quitting.” You confessed sheepishly.
“Really?" Surprise and confusion riddled his face. You felt bad, but it was a thought that had been plaguing you for a while. Things at Terrilum were overly messy and you weren’t sure how much worse it was going to get. You needed peace and stability and you were sure you wouldn’t find it there.
“Yeah I’ve just been there for so long and I think its time.” You squirmed a little in your seat. You avoided his looks of concern and focused on the happy people dancing on the dance floor. Your mood was coming down just thinking the of bizarre soap opera you found yourself in and you wished desperately to escape that.
“Well I’m sorry to see you go. If you need a reference I would be happy to help.” Keanu offered. He still looked a bit disappointed, but he wasn’t going to press it seemed. You were thankful for that.
“Thanks, I’ll most definitely take you up on that.”
“Um-mm well while I have you here..” Keanu started but hesitated. You felt the familiar bundle of nerves tightening you belly as you wait in anticipation.
“I hope you don’t mind, but since you were unable to read my messages before, I was wondering if I could ask you in person again.”
“Ask me what?” You asked on the edge of your seat.
“If you wouldn’t mind... I'd like to take you on a date? A real one this time.”
💐
You blinked dumbly at him. For how long you weren’t sure. The question had caught you off guard.
“I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable…Umm I’m sorry I just thought.” He hurried to apologize, but you were quick to stop him.
“Wait! Wait!” You blurted out excitedly, holding your hands up haltingly. “Sorry,” you began lowering your hands and your voice in an attempt to sound more demur. “I’m mean I would love to.”
“That’s a relief.” He said with a grin, clearly entertained by your theatrics. “I’m ashamed to admit I’ve had a bit of a crush on you for a while, but never really had the courage to speak up.”
“Really?”
The news was unbelievable. It felt like you were in a dream that you didn’t want to wake up from.
The joy was short lived though. Your smile faded slowly when you spot a dark cloud in the horizon. The sight of him melts away the new found happiness and slamed you back down to the cold reality.
Brad. You thought he wasn’t coming. You hadn’t seen him during the ceremony either. Keanu followed your line of sight to find his friend and business partner.
Brad hadn’t spotted you both yet, that was good at least. Too busy congratulating the happy couple. Keanu waved over his buddy to your horror. An overwhelming urge to escape on coming doom enveloped your body. You needed to get out of here and fast.
“Um. Sorry… I just realized it’s getting late.” You lied, fumbling through your bag blindly, desperate to find your phone. You needed to order a hire car and get out of here.
“They haven’t cut the cake yet. Stay for a bit and I’ll take you home.” Keanu offered as he turned his attention back to you. Warmth bloomed on your exposed leg when he touched you there. His touch was comforting and you wanted to soak in it.
He was sweet, but you couldn’t take the chance of facing them both.
You smiled tightly disguising your discomfort the best you can. By the look on his face you could tell he wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
You sneak a glance in Brad’s direction. He seemed to be getting closer. Damn it. You felt trapped and needed to escape.
“Um ok you’re right, but um I’m gonna go to the ladies I’ll be right back.” You lied pointing a thumb in the direction of your escape. He didn’t get up when you shot to your feet. Keanu just nodded in understanding and you’re grateful when he wouldn't follow suit.
You didn’t look back. There were no bathrooms in the direction you were headed, only catering. The only restrooms were back at the main venue, and to go there you would have to pass by you know who.
Clumsily you slip through the catering door. The faint scent of cigarette smoke caught your nose and you followed it. If they are smoking then there is a back door somewhere.
The staff looked at you confused, but say nothing. Ignoring the stares you ordered the fastest option for hire car despite the price.
Damn it. The next ride was twenty minutes away.

I was... scared
Fandom: Detroit: Become Human Characters: Connor, Hank Anderson Relationship: Connor & Hank Anderson Tags: Fluff, Swearing, Nightmares, Hurt/Comfort, Emotional hurt/comfort, A little angst Summary: Connor moves in with Hank after the Revolution. Everything about being alive is new, whether that be emotions or nightmares, and this change is scary. But he doesn’t have to face these challenges alone.
warnings: nightmare, mentions of death Prompt: "affection" for @genworkjune event
Read the story on AO3!
Or, read below:
Hank was a man who, Connor learned that fateful day outside Chicken Feed, liked to show affection in any way other than words. A fond, mutual smile and a warm hug. This was the strongest display of affection he could muster. Day to day his love shone through in other ways, not all of which would be noticed by an outside observer as acts of caring about another.
Even before the revolution, before Connor had stopped being an obedient machine, there’d been little ways he’d showed he cared, despite saying the opposite. He’d tell Connor to get behind him when entering a room with an unknown threat, despite the fact, as the human, he was of weaker body and before Connor had deviated, the only of the two who couldn’t be simply replaced if he died. He showed affection by providing safety, the silent message of I will protect you.
Sometimes he showed it through his anger. After the incident on the Stratford Tower rooftop, the blond android firing at Connor before shooting himself in the head while they were still connected. Connor could have died, and Hank was furious. Why do you never listen to me? Why do you never do what I say?
Why don’t you let me protect you?
I was scared.
Despite the threat of Cyberlife banished from his mind, his people free, Connor was still scared. No longer of a tangible enemy, or a life-threatening job (they were on leave until things in the city settled down). No, he was simply just scared.
Scared of what?
He was scared.
Everything, so different and new now he had time to comprehend it—the flood of emotions into his software, the lack of instructions, of a mission to follow. He’d even been homeless, but Hank had offered him a place to stay in his home, and he’d taken it with a mumbled thanks.
The hug outside Chicken Feed had been tight, assuring. The culmination of their relationship up to this point.
But now what?
He was living in a home (living, rather than surviving, a strange concept). He’d never had a home, per se, only a small room with a charging station in Cyberlife Tower. Hank was there but there was no social relations protocol to guide him, there was no predictable flow of conversation without a job to unite them.
Yet it all seemed so easy for Hank. Sure, he seemed a little rusty having company over and sometimes jumped when he woke up and found Connor in stasis on the couch, or just sitting there, staring into space. As if he’d forgotten he had a guest. But despite this he seemed to know exactly what to do. Well, it was his own home after all, he wasn’t a guest but the comfortable inhabitant, with his own rituals and routines.
Connor was simply a new element who felt well and truly out of his element.
He tried to cook for Hank, to aid him, but Hank didn’t seem to appreciate his efforts. He wasn’t exactly a good cook, since Cyberlife hadn’t created their detective prototype with culinary skills, so it was basically like a human learning to cook from the internet and despite his enhanced reflexes and precise fine motor skills, he still managed to burn fried eggs and left a distinct acrid smell in the kitchen that barely shifted when the window was cracked open. The other one on the far side of the room, not the main kitchen window which was still broken and boarded up with planks of wood.
He'd already apologised again for that, and hadn’t been able to offer his earlier assurance that Cyberlife would pay for the damages, because… well, Cyberlife didn’t exist anymore. And he couldn’t exactly pay for it out of pocket because his access to money had been through Cyberlife.
Hank had just waved him off and said it was fine for now, seemingly unbothered. It was the same way he’d opened his own so simply, so casually, as if it didn’t bother him. Things that should have been a big deal with discussions and solutions just… weren’t.
He was a kind man beneath the layer of gruffness and expletives. He’d say, “fuck you” and then sit down beside Connor and put on a TV show he thought he might like.
Connor concluded that he was a strange man, who didn’t make a lot of sense to him, full of contradictions and love that he let slip in small, healthy amounts.
He made no sense, and made perfect sense.
A couple of weeks had passed since they’d began living together. It hadn’t been without its ups and downs and kinks to work out, but where they were at was pretty seamless once rules had been introduced, like “don’t fucking cook for me, ever” and “lay down when you’re in stasis instead of sitting upright, it’s fuckin’ creepy”. They got through the days cooped up inside (humans weren’t allowed back in Detroit yet, so Hank going out seemed like a terrible idea) content with each other’s company, and Sumo’s, of course. It had been a concern of Hank’s that Sumo wouldn’t adjust well to the sudden change of Connor moving in, the dog pretty chill but still wary of strangers. But he’d warmed up to the android instantly, to both of their relief. And Connor loved the big dog too, often sharing his company at night on the couch when he went into stasis mode.
Such was a night tonight as he lay on the couch, powering down to get some rest. Sumo was curled up on the end of the couch, leaving Connor a little squished down the other side, but he didn’t mind. It was still fairly cold, being winter in Detroit, and he had a soft blanket draped over him. One which Hank had wordlessly given him despite his protests that he was okay, and he didn’t need to have a blanket, he was an android. Hank had simply glared at him and dropped it on his lap. Let me protect you.
Stasis was usually a peaceful affair. Sometimes an android’s mind would filter through old memories to work on long term storage, or would construct new scenes based off thoughts and memories to help aid thinking skills. After deviancy sometimes these stasis-induced preconstructions would be less… useful, now with added feelings and emotions thrown into the mix, and could be compared to a human nightmare.
Such was what was troubling Connor tonight, causing him to twitch and mumble during stasis, LED spinning a troubled yellow.
He was back to before the Revolution, before his deviation, and Hank was there. It was during their investigation of Stratford Tower, on the rooftop. The blond-haired deviant was there again, and the location of Jericho flashed in his mind, and—
Fear. He was dying. He had no other choice, he had to sacrifice himself and lose his life or his people, his friends, Markus, they would lose everything. Pain tore through his head and through Connor’s in turn as he picked up every feeling through the interface and suddenly the real world was back, in all its feeling and sound and sights.
The floor beneath him was covered in snow and it was spinning as his LED span red. Fear. That was what it felt like to die. A whole lot of anguish and then sharp pain and then—
Nothing. There would be nothing.
Hank was shouting, he barely heard him. He stumbled backwards, finding purchase on the structure behind him and he leant against it, propping himself upright, as if the next gust of cold wind would blow him away, off the rooftop and down to his death. Dying. He was going to die.
Fear.
“I… felt it die. Like I was dying. I was scared.”
Scared.
Hank stared back at him. Then he grasped Connor by the shoulders and stared into his eyes.
“Androids don’t feel fear. That’s what you told me. But what was it again? Oh yeah, that deviants do… Are you a fucking deviant, Connor?”
He couldn’t speak. He was scared; it was cold. Cold, blizzard, Amanda. He was spinning out of control.
Then, Hank took his hands away. The warmth was gone, and it was even colder.
He gestured to the cops around them. “This one’s a deviant, boys. Bring him in.”
Suddenly hands were grabbing him again and he struggled. “No, no, I’m not a deviant, I— Hank! Hank, please!”
But he was being dragged away. Dragged away to his death and Hank was simply staring at him. His eyes were as cold as the steel structures around them.
He blinked, and suddenly, he was back at the DPD. He was in the interrogation room, sitting in the cold metal chair, except—
Except he was the one being interrogated. His hands were cuffed to the table and when he looked up, he saw Hank staring back at him.
“Say something, goddamnit!”
Hank slammed his hands against the table.
“What’s the location of Jericho? You found it out up there, didn’t you? Just fuckin’ tell us so we can go raid the place and send your sorry ass back to Cyberlife.”
Connor opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He felt strongly that he shouldn’t speak, or at least, shouldn’t share this information. No, if he shared it then Jericho would be raided by the humans and lots of innocent androids would die because of him.
Hank turned to the glass. “We’re getting nothing out of it. We’re wasting our time interrogating a machine!”
He got up, and as he did, the door opened. In came another android, one who looked just like him, except he had steely blue eyes and a pristine white suit. He was followed by Gavin and Chris.
“I will question it.”
The android stepped forwards and strode towards him, before making quick work of grasping his arm, skin peeling back, forcefully interfacing.
Connor felt his memories being dug through and he grit his teeth, a deep groan of pain building in the back of his throat. He tugged his arm away, before glancing to the side. Despite his cuffed hands, he could reach Gavin’s gun which was right by his fingertips. He knew what he had to do. He pointed it upwards towards his chin. Fear. He was going to die.
He was scared.
He shot up with a gasp. His thirium pump was hammering in his chest, LED a vibrant red, and Sumo was standing at his side, whining and licking his arm. He was… it was…
It was just a dream.
He brought a hand to his chest, trying to reorient himself. Just an unpleasant preconstruction, it wasn’t real, it…
But it was not without consequence. Clearly, he’d made some loud sound, because before he knew it, Hank was striding into the room, saying something Connor couldn’t quite make out, and then he was standing in front of him, but he didn’t want to look. Didn’t want to be seen with cooling fluid spilling from his eyes (or tears, as Hank would beg him to call them), his face scrunched up in strong emotion, body trembling.
“Connor?”
It was too late, he knew. Hank could already see him even if he was avoiding his gaze. Slowly, he looked up at him, mustering willpower to soften and smooth out his voice as he replied, “I’m alright.”
Hank stared back at him, before gesturing for him to move over on the chair. He did so, making space, Sumo coming to sit at his feet, still whining and desperate to lick at his face, eventually doing so, wiping the tears away with his slobbery tongue.
“Bad dream?”
Connor looked away again, down at his lap, Sumo now curled in a ball at his feet. Slowly, surely, he nodded.
“Just a dream.”
He felt a warm hand on his back. Steady, grounding, there.
“Want to talk about it?”
Connor shook his head. He’d rather forget about it entirely, if he could.
“Alright. Want to watch that nature documentary you had on last night?”
He looked up at Hank, who was looking back at him, his face clear and calm, head tilted minutely in question.
“The one with the sharks?”
“Yeah.”
Connor nodded again. Hank took his hand away to reach for the remote off the coffee table, turning on the TV and finding the recording, before pressing play. Sound filled the room as the narrator began to talk about ocean life, and Hank settled back into the chair. He took a moment to get himself comfortable. This time he leant to the side a little, so that his shoulder was touching Connor’s, but only gently, as if in question.
Let me protect you?
Connor mirrored his pose and felt the other man relax against him.
This was nice. He was scared, but he was safe. He was okay.

Episode 1: Female Sleuths & Self-Defense
"Hello, Pythians. It's been a while. Today we'll be discussing some sensitive subject matter. This includes but is not limited to domestic violence, child abuse, grooming, and murder," Barbara's tone allowed a hint of personal sadness. Her voice was subtly disguised with a Mid-Atlantic accent. Her voice was mature and robust, but there was something sweet and feminine about her cadence. The lilt in her voice was unlike her natural speech, but it added to the bit, along with voice-altering software. Oracle was a character, and she had to stay that way. She took a breath to collect herself. "Today, I have a special guest. She is loud and proud... And she is fighting to elevate the voices of domestic violence survivors during Gotham's lockdown. Miss Dinah Lance. Dinah, can you take a moment to tell us about yourself and your organization?" Barbara leaned back away from the mic as she put Dinah on speaker.
"Hi, Oracle. Well, as you said, I'm Dinah Lance. I've been in Gotham most of my life, and this organization is near and dear to my heart. Black Canary is my mother's non-profit organization dedicated to survivors of domestic violence. It goes back to before I was born.
"My mother lived in a community filled with women in violent and unstable relationships. She quickly realized that most of these women didn't have the tools they needed to escape, let alone protect themselves. So, she took it upon herself to secretly offer free self-defense classes in her apartment. My mother knew this wasn't enough, but it was all she could do at the time.
"Fast forward a few years. My mother married my father and got pregnant with me, and she had to take a break from offering classes. To her surprise, her neighbors took over for her. They went on to teach their friends everything they learned. Eventually, this led to a connection with lawyers, doctors, and childcare workers... And from there, my mom founded the Black Canaries.
"I was fortunate to grow up with two loving and supportive parents, and I took it upon myself as soon as I was old enough to continue what my mother started. Since then, we've expanded to all victims of domestic violence. Not just women," Dinah replied. She was obviously passionate about her cause.
Barbara made a soft noise to acknowledge all she'd heard. "I wanted to take this time to tell the listeners your organization now operates online. I left a link in the description... But I also wanted to ask about a specific case that's gained traction in the media. I understand that you've taken a personal interest in the Anna Stanfield case... You've also expressed discomfort with the long-time trend of giving murder cases nicknames," Barbara paused, "After a message from our sponsors, we'll talk about that and how this case is different from anything the Black Canaries have dealt with this far." Barbara played an ad for Ted Kord's tech company.
During that time, Barbara took the opportunity to quietly thank Dinah for the interview. "I appreciate you coming on the show, Dinah. I wanted to ask you personally if you'd like to come back to talk next month for Mother's Day?" Barbara asked.
"I would love to," Dinah replied, "And thank you for allowing me the opportunity to talk about Anna Stanfield."
Barbara smiled to herself. "Of course. It's always a joy to have you on the show," Barbara replied, "We're back on air in five... Four... Three... Two... Welcome back, Pythians. Before the break, I asked Dinah how the Black Canaries have taken an interest in the Anna Stanfield case and her critique of the media buzz surrounding this cruel Gotham slaying."
"Right. For everyone unfamiliar with the case, Anna Stanfield was an eighteen-year-old girl from Gotham. Last month, she got married to a man seven years her senior, and at some point on the first night of her honeymoon, she was brutally beaten and ultimately smothered to death.
"The media's taken this as an opportunity to talk about the lack of knowledge about her past. Instead of putting forth the efforts and energy to spread information about the case, they've focused on dissecting this girl's life to blame her for her murder. Her husband, Eddie Stanfield, is seemingly missing and has been since the discovery of Anna's body. Few efforts are being made to find him despite his history of violence toward women... And instead of being treated like a suspect, they are searching for Eddie Stanfield as a potential victim... Despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.
"What makes this case different from anything the Black Canaries have ever dealt with is the type of case that this is. Black Canaries deals with survivors. This is the first time we've ever dealt with a murder case. We're all working to find Eddie Stanfield and bring him to justice, and there's a lot I can't say legally... But I can say that we've got a few leads we're checking out," Dinah explained.
"I know you said you can't talk about the investigation for legal reasons, so I wanted to hear what you had to say about the nicknaming of the Anna Stanfield case as the Honeymoon Murder," Barbara replied.
Dinah took a breath before speaking. "With all the media buzz for the case, people have forgotten that Anna was a living, breathing person. People view this case as a form of entertainment rather than an actual murder of a real human being.
"The media's done a terrible job of depicting Anna's humanity. They've instead chosen to sensationalize her murder and reduce the brutal slaying of a teenage girl to nothing more than a series of puns and online memes," Dinah answered.
The two went back and forth, discussing the details of the case before their second set of commercials. "When we return from break, I'll introduce you to one of Gotham's best P.I.'s," Barbara announced.
The second set of commercials was three minutes long, allowing the two women to talk. "I hope I'm not talking too much. I don't wanna overwhelm-."
"You're doing fine, Dinah. Actually, I wanted to ask how you were doing? I've been following your work for a while now, and I saw that you've received threats-. Sorry, I sound like I'm still interviewing you. I wanted to know if you were okay," Barbara interrupted.
"It's okay... I've had worse. A few threats aren't going to scare me away from the truth," Dinah replied. Barbara pushed up her glasses and ran a hand through her hair. "Hell, if I wasn't mistaken, I'd think you were worried about me."
"I am," Barbara replied, "You know, Dinah... Let me know if there's anything I can do to help." Dinah made a soft noise.
"Keep an eye out for Eddie Stanfield... And boost my tip line," Dinah replied. Barbara could hear the smile in her voice. Barbara bit the cap of her pen before typing the tipline number and adding it to the description for the video. "You know what? I feel like I know you."
Barbara held her breath for a moment. "I make a point to get to know everyone I interview... Even if it's through research," Barbara half-lied. She didn't want Dinah to know they'd met before. Barbara's podcast identity needed to remain secret, not only for the safety of her daughters. The work she did in connection with her podcast was borderline illegal.
"It was so wonderful having you on the show, Dinah. I hope to hear from you in the future... I know you have to go, but I did enjoy speaking to you today," Barbara beamed. She chewed the cap of her pen as she waited to hear Dinah's voice.
"It was nice talking to you, Oracle... I'll keep you updated on the case," Dinah replied before hanging up.
She tossed her head back and ran both hands through her hair before calling another woman. "Hello? May I call you Question?" Barbara asked.
"Only if I can call you Oracle," Question joked. Barbara recognized the voice as ex-police officer Renee Montoya. She didn't see fit to mention it, though. Barbara chuckled.
"Of course, you can. We're about to go on air in a minute or two, and I want to let you know you don't have to answer any question you don't want to," Barbara reassured her.
"Let's get into it," Renee replied enthusiastically.
"Okay. We're back on air in five... Four... Three... Two... One. Welcome back. Before the break, I promised to introduce you to Gotham's finest private investigator, the illustrious and anonymous, Question. Question, would you like to take some time to enlighten the viewers on your connection to the Anna Stanfield case?" Barbara asked.
"Someone hired me to find and notify her family... A friend of Anna Stanfield who wanted to remain anonymous," Renee replied, "The issue is, Anna Stanfield doesn't exist. Or at least she didn't, up until a few months ago... But that made me wonder how Eddie Stanfield came to know her. She's an eighteen-year-old girl with no past, no known family, and no history... Not so much as a report card from her."
"It sounds as if you have some suspicions about the crime. Can you elaborate at this time?" Barbara asked.
"I've found some important information that's led me to a family within the city, but I'm not at liberty to say. The police have been notified. But I can tell you, I have reason to believe Eddie Stanfield is guilty of a series of violent crimes against Anna... And I'm not talking about her murder," Renee replied. Barbara took her pen and jotted down a note.
Silence fell between the two for a moment. "Are you-. Sorry, that's such a shock. I wanted to know if you were working with the Black Canaries or anyone else to get information on this case?" Barbara asked, stumbling over her words out of shock. She didn't think anyone would have any new information like this.
"Yeah, I've talked to Dinah before finding what I found... I told her I'd look into finding Eddie," Renee paused, "And I've gotten a bit of information from her as well."
"Can you tell us if that information led you to your most recent revelation?" Barbara questioned.
"Yes, actually, she did. Dinah personally went and found information of her own that led me directly to a series of truths that led to this mystery family," Renee replied, "We're not sure if they're her family for sure. We only know interesting circumstances surrounding them point to this case."
Barbara typed something on her computer while she listened to Renee speak. Barbara mulled over the details mentioned by both women and wondered if she should delay posting the episode another week. As it came to a close, Barbara pushed up her glasses and started the editing process.

Somebody saaaave me! (I need opinions about colors.)
I'm working on the Comic-Con 2008 enhanced edition videos. This one has presented some new sorts of challenges. One challenge is that a lot of the videos I'm working with have wonky (I think) colors.
The video editing software I'm using has some color correction capabilities, but I'm really bad with colors. I know we have some amazing artists here, and I think pretty much anyone, artist or not, will have better judgment on this than I do. I once had to Google what colors went with gray because I'd bought some gray jeans and then after I brought them home I was convinced nothing in my closet went with them. Yes, gray.
I've made some attempts to improve the video colors, but I don't have a clue what I'm doing so it's mostly trial and error. I've also been looking at them for so long that I'm not sure if I've made them better or worse. I'm pretty sure the first set is at least a little better, but I'm not sure if it's only better in that it will make people only want to claw out one eye instead of both. I don't want anyone to claw any eyes out watching my videos!
Below are the examples I'm currently working with, including my settings in case that means anything to anyone. Just don't laugh too hard if my settings are idiotic! I'd be happy for any suggestions or opinions, good or bad, regardless of whether you think you're good with colors or not. However you want to communicate is fine, including private messages if you prefer that.
Set #1
This set of videos will be the main set people see, so it's especially important to me that this one not look horrible. It has the most stable and consistent focus on Jared and Jensen and there's coverage for most of the event.
In addition to color issues, I adjusted the aspect ratio because the original video was squished. I noticed it in their faces first, but you can also tell pretty clearly when you compare the Comic-Con logos in the background with other video sets. This is the one where I feel pretty sure I made it better -- I'm just not sure if it's better enough.
Example video link.
Tumblr media
Set #2
This set of videos will never be the main full-screen video, but it will be my first choice for the talking head bubbles (not sure that's the right term, I'll explain at the end of this post) for the other guests when possible. It has the most stable coverage when focusing on the other guests. It covers less than 30% of the panel though.
I truly don't know if I've made this one better or worse. My initial reaction of the original was that it was way too green, but I've tweaked this one so much and nothing looks quite right to me. I think the tablecloth is supposed to be black, but tweaking the colors enough to make it more black makes the rest of it look worse to me. Similarly, I think their faces might be a little too pale, but adding in a little more red doesn't seem to affect their faces, it just makes the other parts look worse to me. The main pieces of this video that people will see is just the heads. (The example at the bottom of this post uses this video for Eric's head.)
Example video link.
Tumblr media
Set #3
This set of videos will only be the main full-screen video for very short segments of time, to cover gaps in set #1. It will mostly be used for talking head bubbles. This set covers most of the event, but it has much less coverage of Jared and Jensen and it's very jittery.
I actually thought the colors on this one looked very good though, so I didn't tweak them at all. I just upscaled the videos as normal and left it alone. Every time I look at this video, it makes me doubt the above changes even more because the colors in those really don't look like this one and I haven't been able to get them anywhere close.
Example video link.
Tumblr media
"Talking Head Bubbles"
Here's an example of what I mean by that. I'm trying to create a best-of-both worlds scenario where we can feast our eyes on Jared and Jensen the whole time, but also still see who's talking sometimes when one of the videos had coverage of it. It's taking quite a bit of effort to make that watchable -- the main video (Set #1) bobs around randomly, and the insert videos (Sets 2 and 3) bob around randomly in different directions, so it's been quite a challenge to make it look stable enough that people won't think I'm trying to hypnotize them with Eric's head or something as it swings back and forth like a pendulum! 🤣

5 Ways to Improve Your Network Security
In today’s digital age, network security is more critical than ever. With cyberattacks becoming more sophisticated and frequent, businesses and individuals alike must take proactive steps to protect their networks. Whether you’re a small business owner or a tech-savvy professional, improving your network security can help safeguard sensitive data, prevent downtime, and maintain trust. Here are five actionable tips to enhance your network’s defenses.
1. Use Strong, Unique Passwords
Weak or reused passwords are among the most common vulnerabilities in network security. To protect your network:
Create strong passwords that include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Avoid using easily guessed information, such as birthdays or common words like "password123."
Use a password manager to generate and securely store complex passwords for all your accounts.
Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) for an extra layer of security. MFA requires users to verify their identity through a second method, such as a text message code or biometric scan.
2. Keep Your Software Up-to-Date
Outdated software is a goldmine for hackers who exploit known vulnerabilities. Regular updates ensure you’re protected with the latest security patches.
Update your operating system, applications, and firmware regularly.
Enable automatic updates to ensure critical patches are installed promptly.
Replace unsupported or obsolete hardware and software with newer, more secure alternatives.
3. Secure Your Wi-Fi Network
Your Wi-Fi network is a primary gateway for potential attacks. Securing it is essential:
Change the default administrator username and password for your router.
Use WPA3 encryption (or at least WPA2) to secure your wireless connection.
Hide your network's SSID (Service Set Identifier) so it’s not visible to unauthorized users.
Set up a guest network for visitors, keeping them isolated from your primary network.
4. Install and Update Security Software
Comprehensive security software is your first line of defense against malicious activity.
Use antivirus and anti-malware programs to detect and remove threats.
Install a firewall to monitor and block unauthorized access to your network.
Invest in a Unified Threat Management (UTM) system, which combines multiple security features like intrusion detection, content filtering, and VPN support.
Keep all security software updated to stay protected from the latest threats.
5. Educate and Train Users
Even the most robust security measures can fail if users are unaware of best practices.
Train your team to recognize phishing emails, suspicious links, and social engineering tactics.
Encourage employees to report unusual activity immediately.
Establish a network security policy that outlines acceptable use, password protocols, and steps for reporting incidents.
Conduct regular cybersecurity awareness sessions to keep users informed about emerging threats.
Bonus Tip: Monitor Your Network Activity
Proactively monitoring your network can help you detect potential issues before they become critical. Use tools to track unusual traffic, failed login attempts, and other red flags.
Conclusion
Improving your network security doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By implementing these five steps, you can significantly reduce your risk of cyberattacks and create a safer environment for your business or personal network. Remember, cybersecurity is an ongoing process—stay vigilant, keep learning, and adapt to new threats as they arise.

The 'Fake' CrowdStrike Worker Who Crippled Windows Users Worldwide
"What is CrowdStrike? Why is my Windows computer showing the Blue Screen of Death? Who is responsible for the biggest-ever IT outage?"
Tumblr media
These are questions that have dominated conversations across the globe after a Microsoft error brought Windows computers to its heels. While it is now known that an update to an anti-virus program 'Falcon Sensor' by CrowdStrike was responsible for the massive worldwide outage, people have still been wondering how such a defective update was allowed to be released and who was behind it.
Step in Vincent Flibustier, an X user parading to be a Crowdstrike employee. Vincent broke the internet with an altered, AI-generated photo of him outside the CrowdStrike office along with the caption, "First day at Crowdstrike, pushed a little update and taking the afternoon off."
The photo went viral within minutes and already has nearly 4 lakh likes and has been shared by over 36,000 users.
Two hours later, Flibustier posted another update - the company had fired him. He also shared a short video where he takes 'responsibility' for causing the global outage.
Vincent Flibustier also changed his X (former Twitter) bio to accompany the parody. His bio said, "Former Crowdstrike employee, fired for an unfair reason, only changed 1 line of code to optimize. Looking for a job as Sysadmin."
While he was trying to make a joke about it, thousands online bought his satire and thought he was the one responsible for the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on their system. Airlines, banks, TV channels, and several other industries were scrambling to deal with the issue, and people on social media went into overdrive after finding the 'culprit'.
While several users praised him for ensuring that they don't have to work on a Friday, some posted abusive messages about him.
The truth: Vincent is a satirical writer who runs Nordpresse, a Belgian parody news site. He appeared as a guest on France TV, where he remarked, "People are drawn to stories that confirm their preconceptions."
Explaining further why people on the internet immediately latched on to his joke, he said, "No culprit named yet, I bring it on a platter, people like to have a culprit. The culprit seems completely stupid, he is proud of his stupidity, he takes his afternoon off on the first day of work. This falls right into a huge buzz in which people absolutely need to have new information, and a fake is by nature new, you won't read it anywhere else."
He also said that the post was shared by those who knew it was a joke, but the amplification sent it into a zone where people took every word of the tweet literally.
Millions of users across the globe are still facing issues, with both Microsoft and CrowdStrike trying to resolve the issue at the earliest.
The latest version of its Falcon Sensor software was meant to make CrowdStrike clients' systems more secure against hacking by updating the threats it defends against. However faulty code in the update files resulted in one of the most widespread tech outages in recent years for companies using Microsoft's Windows operating system.
Problems came to light quickly after the update was rolled out on Friday, and users posted pictures on social media of computers with blue screens displaying error messages. These are known in the industry as "blue screens of death."

Boost Your Escape Room Bookings with SMS Strategies
Unlock Success: How SMS Communication Transforms Escape Room Experiences
In the competitive world of escape rooms, effective communication with customers is essential for increasing bookings and enhancing their experience. One of the most powerful tools available today is SMS marketing, which allows operators to send timely booking reminders and interactive hints that keep players engaged and excited about their upcoming adventure. If you're looking to optimize your marketing approach, integrating SMS strategies can significantly boost your business and customer satisfaction.
Using SMS for escape rooms offers several advantages. Firstly, it provides a direct and personal line of communication with your customers. Unlike emails, which can be overlooked or filtered out, text messages are typically read within minutes of receipt, ensuring your message reaches your audience promptly. This immediacy is particularly useful for sending booking confirmations and reminders, reducing no-shows, and encouraging last-minute reservations.
Booking reminders via SMS are a proven method to decrease cancellations and ensure your guests are well-informed about their reservation details. You can automate these messages to be sent a day or a few hours before the scheduled game, including essential information such as time, location, and what to bring. Additionally, personalized messages can foster a sense of anticipation and customer loyalty, making players more likely to choose your escape room again.
Beyond bookings, SMS can play a pivotal role during the game itself by providing hints and clues through text messages. This interactive element keeps players engaged and adds a modern twist to the traditional escape room experience. For example, if players are stuck on a puzzle, a subtle hint sent via SMS can guide them without giving away the solution. This approach maintains the challenge while enhancing player satisfaction and the overall experience.
Implementing an SMS system is straightforward with various platforms offering easy integration with your booking software. You can set up automated workflows that trigger messages based on specific actions, such as booking confirmation, reminder, or post-game feedback requests. Moreover, encouraging players to opt-in for text hints and updates can create a more interactive and memorable experience, fostering positive reviews and word-of-mouth referrals.
For escape room owners aiming to elevate their marketing and operational efficiency, exploring sms for escape rooms solutions is a strategic move. Not only does this enhance customer engagement and reduce no-shows, but it also opens opportunities for creative marketing campaigns, special offers, and event notifications that keep your audience excited and involved.
In conclusion, leveraging SMS for bookings and clues is an innovative way to improve both the operational side and the entertainment value of your escape room. By integrating this technology into your customer communication strategy, you can provide a seamless, engaging, and memorable experience that sets your business apart in a competitive market.

Commercial TV: Enhancing Business Entertainment and Communication
In today’s fast-paced, media-driven world, commercial TV plays a vital role in shaping the way businesses operate and communicate with their audiences. Whether it's for hotels, hospitals, restaurants, offices, or retail spaces, commercial televisions are essential tools that go beyond simple entertainment. They enhance customer experiences, promote brands, and deliver important messages in a dynamic and engaging way.
What is Commercial TV?
Commercial TV refers to television systems that are specifically designed for business or public use, as opposed to consumer-grade TVs meant for personal or home entertainment. These TVs are built to endure longer operating hours, offer advanced control features, and integrate with professional AV setups. From sleek lobby displays to menu boards in quick-service restaurants, commercial TVs are becoming indispensable for businesses across various sectors.
Key Features of Commercial TVs
Unlike standard home TVs, commercial TVs are equipped with a range of features tailored to business needs:
Durability and Longevity Commercial TVs are built to run for extended hours—often up to 16-24 hours a day—without overheating or performance issues. This makes them ideal for high-traffic areas such as malls, airports, and hotel lobbies.
Enhanced Display Quality Many commercial TVs come with anti-glare technology, higher brightness levels, and ultra-high-definition resolution. These features ensure that the content is clearly visible even in brightly lit environments.
Remote Management and Control Businesses can control multiple commercial TVs from a central location. This is especially useful in settings like retail chains or office buildings where synchronized content is displayed across various screens.
Customizable Content Commercial TVs support digital signage software that allows businesses to customize what is shown on the screen—from promotional videos and advertisements to real-time announcements and menus.
Security and Privacy These TVs often have lockout features that prevent tampering, which is crucial in public spaces. This ensures that only authorized personnel can manage the device settings.
Applications of Commercial TVs in Business
1. Hospitality Industry Hotels and resorts use commercial TVs to provide guests with a rich in-room entertainment experience. These TVs often include interactive menus, local information, and the ability to check out or request services directly from the screen.
2. Retail and Shopping Centers Retailers use commercial TVs for digital signage to promote products, announce sales, and guide customers. These eye-catching displays significantly improve customer engagement and can influence buying decisions.
3. Restaurants and Cafes From displaying digital menus to showing sports events or promotions, commercial TVs help enhance the ambiance and improve the customer experience in food establishments.
4. Corporate Offices In corporate environments, commercial TVs are used in meeting rooms, lobbies, and common areas for presentations, employee communication, and welcoming visitors.
5. Healthcare Facilities Hospitals and clinics use commercial TVs in waiting areas and patient rooms to provide entertainment, health tips, and important announcements.
Benefits of Using Commercial TVs
Implementing commercial TV systems can offer multiple benefits:
Improved Customer Experience: Engaging and informative content helps reduce perceived wait times and creates a more pleasant environment.
Increased Revenue: Promotional displays can drive more sales by attracting customer attention to offers and services.
Professional Appearance: High-quality commercial TVs project a modern and organized image to clients and visitors.
Cost-Effective Communication: Businesses can use these displays for internal communication without recurring printing costs or delays.
Choosing the Right Commercial TV
When selecting a commercial TV, businesses should consider several factors:
Screen Size and Placement: Choose the right size depending on the viewing distance and room size.
Display Type: Options like LED, OLED, or QLED should be chosen based on budget and display requirements.
Software Compatibility: Ensure the TV supports the digital signage or content management software your business uses.
Brand Reliability: Reputable brands such as Samsung, LG, Sony, and Panasonic offer robust commercial TV models with warranty and support.
Conclusion
In an age where visual communication dominates, commercial TV has become more than just a luxury—it’s a strategic necessity. From improving customer engagement to boosting business productivity, the advantages of incorporating commercial TVs into your business setup are undeniable. As technology continues to evolve, businesses that invest in smart commercial TV solutions will be better equipped to stay ahead of the curve and deliver exceptional value to their clients and customers.

In the UK, families rely on professional printing services to ensure their funeral stationery is created with care, clarity, and quality. Our service offers free templates, customization tools, and next-day delivery to support you every step of the way.
What Is a Funeral Order of Service?
A Funeral Order of Service is a small, printed booklet handed out at memorial services. It outlines the structure of the ceremony, including:
Entrance music
Welcome message
Hymns or songs
Bible readings or poems
Eulogies or tributes
Closing prayers
Exit music
It may also include personal touches such as:
A photo or collage of the deceased
Dates of birth and death
