Disney Branded Television Saves ‘Hamster & Gretel’ Season 2 Airdate In September

Disney Branded Television’s animated superhero comedy Hamster & Gretel, created by Dan Povenmire (Phineas and Ferb) returns for Season 2 on Saturday, September 14, at 10 a.m. EDT, with two episodes weekly. The first eight episodes will be available on Disney+ on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Alongside the premiere date announcement, the official trailer for the second season was released today.

After protecting their city from local villains in the first season, their adventures take a dramatic turn. This time, they will face a global extraterrestrial threat while juggling school, crushes, and local villains.

Whether it's playing it up and astounding live audiences or putting on thrill-rides of a show for the television camera while doing special and guest spots, Skull's fame is accomplished through his career as a daredevil and his penchant for insane, death-defying stunts.

Bermuda I see as a mixed-martial artist or an ECW fighter.

Small Gia, Didi and Jeje are all notorious serial killers with their own dedicated fanbases. Birds is another infamous killer along the lines of Manson, who never physically killed anyone himself but orchestrated the murders of people. Daisy is another infamous criminal whose trial was hugely publicized, especially given the insanity defense used. Glo Xinia is infamous in the same way - a serial criminal who gained a lot of mainstream publicity.

Ricardo was a wrestler, well known for playing a heel. He became a huge celebrity though due to press coverage of his many out-of-the-ring fights and his later murder of another wrestler at a nightclub. He was acquitted of the charges due to insufficient evidence but everyone knows he did it.

Knuckle is, of course, a rather famous boxer.

Shoko Tanaka is a well-known female mixed martial artist.

Daigo Kazumi, Kenshiro Yamaki, Gosuke Takada, Renzo Oshikiri, and Nobuhiko Kakuta are all Olympic level athletes.

Giannichi and Giannini are both famous inventors and for anyone in the robotics field, they're absolute legends.

Timoteo is a famous movie director who owns Vongola Films, a large studio. He's recently moved from directing only movies to directing what's become a hugely popular television series. Coyote Nougat is an assistant director for Timoteo. Croquant Bouche and Ganauche III are really well known producers who often work with Vongola Films and Timoteo. Visconti does all the special effects work on Timoteo's movies and now the television show. Brabanter Schnitten is the sound mixer and Brow Nie Jr. the production coordinator on all Timoteo's works, employed with Vongola Films.

Hibari's famous to a select group of people who are already in the know and famous in their own rights, as he's the head of a company who supplies the rich and famous with the best of the best in security. Notoriously publicity shy, he's never been caught on camera himself and avoids seeing any of the actual clients himself.

Tetsuya Kusakabe is one of those well-respected, oft-photographed bodyguards to the stars. Romario is as well as Dino's private bodyguard. Gamma is bodyguard to the girl group Yuni is a part of, while Olgert is bodyguard to Bel and Rasiel both and is just as paparazzi-photographed as those he looks over. Nigella Beabankul is another paparazzi famous body to the stars.

Daemon Spade and Elena are famous politicians.

Bel and Siel are infamous socialites. Part of the Royal Family of another country, their diplomatic immunity protects them against any charges that arise from their very hedonistic lifestyles and the press coverage of their fights, accidents, and the bad endings of those hedonistic lifestyles are splashed all over the tabloids. Tyr was an ECW champion who became most famous for his live death in the ring against mixed martial artist turned ECW fighter Squalo Superbi.

Michael Chianu is a tennis star, Bluebell an Olympic gold medal winning diver, while Kaoru Mizuno is a famous baseball player with one of the major teams.

I honestly don't feel that Luce is the most comfortable in front of a crowd and she doesn't like to be the center of attention. She isn't comfortable with the idea of fame and celebrity, with no desire for them. She just wants a peaceful, happy, low-key life and I honestly don't even see her as someone who has Facebook, much less any other type of social media.

Fon has no desire for fame and celebrity either. There are some YouTube clips of him, found if you Google him, of prior martial arts matches he's been part of when he did compete in martial arts tournaments. However, he's not entirely comfortable even with that level of public attention, since he prefers a quieter and simple life.

DANGANRONPA DRAG RACE

May the best drag queen survive!

(I initially called this Dragonronpa, but another Tumblr user called dibs on the name for their own AU - sorry for any confusion!)

This is a stupid idea, with an unspeakable amount of time and thought put into it, conceived solely by combining two things I like (Danganronpa and RuPaul's Drag Race). Obviously, I must share it!

Obviously, the host is a gender-swapped Junko Enoshima. The Ultimate Fashionista terrifies the contestants slightly more than RuPaul does, and she lives for juicy drama.

Judges and cast include:

Miu Iruma: the token aggressively heterosexual woman on the panel. Like Michelle Visage, she can dish. Unlike Michelle Visage, she can't take.

Teruteru Hanamura: his time to shine! The one place where the wannabe sophisticate's double entendres can be endearing rather than creepy.

Nekomaru Nidai: one of the speedo-clad assistants? The choreographer for any dance challenges? Why not both?

Guest judges include:

Sayaka Maizono: she's only here to cynically take advantage of her queer fanbase, but she enjoys seeing everyone dress up and the racers go crazy for her.

Tsumugi Shirogane: a huge fan of the show and she won't shut up! The Ultimate Cosplayer oversees a challenge where racers create outfits inspired by anime and fandom culture at large.

Contestants include:

Kokichi Ouma: a comedy queen who gags everyone every time. Strives for the villain edit because she knows who the audience will really remember after the winner is crowned, she knows who gets into All-Stars. The season really starts to drag once she's eliminated.

Gundham Tanaka: intimidating on the outset with impeccable gothic style, though secretly a sweetie. She's too unique to get far, but she parlays her newfound fame into a better turn on Dragula. Better yet, the mainstream exposure helps the freaks who'd love her style find her.

Hifumi Yamada: can't have Drag Race without a big girl strutting her stuff. Hifumi takes inspiration from her beloved magical girls, which may get notes for not branching out more but dazzle nonetheless.

Ultimate Impostor: when commanded to give a stage name after initially giving no name at all, they gag everyone and steal the name of previous winner Byakuya Togami. Guess who absolutely nails Snatch Game.

Korekiyo Shinguji: impressive fashion, impeccable make-up, imaginative results. A little unhinged, but witty and determined. A real contender for the crown. Let's just say the backstory from V3 isn't in this AU.

Chihiro Fujisaki: whether they see her as someone to protect or an easy target to knock out, every competitor thinks she's adorable. Like so many Drag Race contestants, she eventually identifies as trans.

... I talk about the post-show futures of these contestants, but I also enjoy the idea that instead of merely sashaying away, losers get Punishment Time. They literally need to lip-sync for their lives.

STORY DESCRIPTION

Based on the manga of the same name, "Haru wa Mijikashi Koiseyo Danshi." is a drama that follows the lives of four high school boys who, for various reasons, have no experience in love and romance.

Sato Ryuji will appear in Episode 07 of the drama.

Episode 07 tells the story of Oda Ikuto (Fujii Naoki), who has a younger brother type of character and isn't looked upon in a romantic light by girls. But, he has an unrequited love for the popular model, Minazuki Beni (Suzuki Yuuka), who is Minazuki Ao's (Nasu Yuto) older sister and someone who used to play with the boys when they were children.

Beni, who has been working in Tokyo, makes a sudden and unexpected return to her hometown where she reunites with Ikuto. Following her back to her hometown is her manager, Yoneda (Sato Ryuji).

Why has Beni returned to her hometown? How will the relationship between Ikuto and Beni develop? What does Yoneda have to do with all of this?

Here is my recap of the Run It Back (Bad Reputation) episode of the podcast.

Kevin and Jenna were dreading this rewatch. Someone screened this episode for just the cast in the editing bay. Everyone was jarred by it.

Obviously all the songs are bad.

The scoring was weird. It was like a murder mystery.

This episode felt like Acafellas in a way. They were protective of the show even though they had no control of the creative side of things or how to promote the show. They just had to do what was written.

They were bummed and thought it wasn't great.

Jenna and Kevin actually ended up enjoying rewatching the episode.

The episode aired May 4, 2010.

The #1 song was OMG by Usher.

On May 5th Glee won a Television With A Conscious Award at the 3rd Annual Television Academy Honors for the Wheels episode. Cory, Chris, and Kevin accepted the award. Kevin doesn't really remember this event. He had a lot of parents with kids in wheelchairs come up to him and wanted him to tell Brad, Ian, and Ryan thank you for having a character like Artie on the show. It made their kids feel represented. (Kevin acknowledged that now we know better. We now know that just having a character exist is the bare minimum. This was the preamble to representation really matters.)

On May 8th the cast of Glee was featured on the cover of Billboard Magazine. They used promo photos for the cover. Even so it was a really cool cover.

During rehearsal for tours Amber came in and was supposed to be on vocal rest. There is a picture where she is sitting cross legged on the stage and it got to where she is supposed to rehearse Beautiful that she sings in Home. They told her not to sing it and to save her voice. She did the most perfect rendition of the song just sitting there. She did all the runs and didn't miss a note. Kevin went from being mad that this was irresponsible to being mad that this was so good. That she had something wrong with her voice and she was still that good.

They are going to talk about the first tour after the finish this season.

This episode was directed by Elodie Keene. She had directed two or three episodes by this point.

Stephen Tobolowsky is back. As is Robin Trocki (Jean). John Groff is still in the Glee club. Yet another guest star was Molly Shannon.

Kevin had no idea that Molly Shannon would be in this episode. Jenna had heard and was waiting for to come to set.

Jenna watched a seen between Molly and Jane. It was unbelievable to watch her especially since Jenna was a huge fan.

Olivia Newton-John was a huge guest star for this episode. She sounded great.

Kevin said he was glad he got to talk to Jane about how much she admired Olivia Newton-John.

Ryan basically manifested this by talking to the guy that wrote most of Olivia's songs.

Olivia Newton-John has a song and album named Don't Stop Believing.

Jenna told a story about how she booked glee and her roommate's boyfriend was drinking a beer while the roommate and Jenna were on the phone. The bottle cap that had a fortune on them. The cap said never flee from glee. The roommate saved the cap for Jenna. Jenna's dad made her a engraved necklace that says never flee from glee that they gave her at her going away dinner when she was moving to California for the show.

Kevin's dad called him when Kevin was testing for Glee to tell him he saw a license plate with Artie on it. He told Kevin that he knew. Jenna said it was meant to be. Kevin said they were supposed to be life partners.

This is the last appearance of Ken Tanaka. It is very brief. You blink and you miss it.

The whole crux of the episode is trying to rehab not only character things but some bad songs.

Kevin loves that Physical by Olivia Newton-John is in this episode. He loves that she was game to poke fun at herself. Kevin said it ended up being very visually stimulating and he's appreciative of that.

The songs in this episode are Ice Ice Baby, You Can't Touch This, Physical, Run Joey Run, and Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

Why wasn't Bad Reputation by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts in this episode? Kevin said maybe it isn't bad enough.

EW recap: A Madonna episode, sure, fun stuff but an episode that contains a mystery, a mega meta rift on a modern celebrity, a purposefully awful series of songs, not one but two high concept retro music videos, and some realistic forward motion on various romantic plotlines. Now we are talking.

As crazy as this episode was it gave us everything. It was all the fun and weirdness of glee and still had all the kids and the storylines happening. It was a great balance.

There are the student reputation and the teacher reputations that are trying to be reformed.

Kurt finds the video of Sue performing Olivia Newton-John's Physical. They decide to post it on Youtube.

Kevin was shocked that going viral on Youtube was a thing at the time this episode was filmed/aired. It was definitely a new concept at the time.

After this we are introduced to Molly Shannon's character. She fits right into the camp of the show.

There could have been so many spin-offs from this show. There was almost a Warbler spin-off.

Sue has a realization that she wants to help people and chooses Emma.

There were a lot of suspension of disbelief things in this episode.

Sue said she has hidden cameras in Will's apartment.

It was kind of nice seeing Sue giving Emma tough love but on the other side of thing is what is Sue getting out of this.

Jenna loves the scene where Emma calls Will a slut while he is talking to the teacher whose husband just died. Jenna thought the scene happened in a later season.

Kevin said he learned to speak up for himself by being all around the ladies in the cast.

The girls had to tell Kevin to stop taking steroids when he was sick and he was acting insane. This was on a plane to England. This is what friends do.

Jenna says this is the best slut shaming she's ever seen. He deserved it and to hear Emma say that is courageous and uplifting.

Kevin said he does thinks this was deserved however when Artie is slut shamed by Sam a few seasons later he doesn't think that was deserved.

There was some weird continuity issues, Emma's outfit changes but Sue's stays the same.

The costume department keeps track of how many days might take place in an episode. This is so they can keep track of what everyone is wearing. There was some sort of mix up in the scenes with Sue and Emma.

Kevin just wants to get to Physical. Jenna said we will get there.

Kurt is going to tell Sue he posted the video to help some of the Glee kids reputations. Sue says its fine and gets a call from the real Olivia Newton-John. Kevin wonders what the direct flight from Australia to Ohio is like because it doesn't many any sense. It's a little ridiculous.

Jenna said that scene was very funny. She said its so hard to not laugh with Chris. He's so funny.

The scene with them huddled around the computer was a new scene. It was done in a new set, the astronomy room which doubled for a lot of other rooms.

Kevin said that program looked like something from the early 90's. You could press any key on the keyboard and it would still type exactly what it was supposed to type. It felt like movie magic and Kevin was excited about it. Kevin can't type without looking at the keyboard.

Jenna remembers when they built the set for Physical. They weren't allowed in according to Kevin. The soundstage was closed off but they could hear it. Kevin wanted to see all the oiled up guys. Ryan directed the music video. He might also have directed all of the scenes with Olivia Newton-John.

Kevin had a crush on all the guys in the Physical music video. They were waiting and peeping outside the door trying to catch a glimpse of the music video being shot.

Kevin would like to know where Sue and the kids were recording their vocals for things like Vogue and Run Joey Run.

Scream checked off all the boxes for Kevin. He says he wishes he could have done the gimble box that Matt and Jayma got to use. Scream was everything. They got to do green screen, dancing, Michael and Janet Jackson.

Jenna got to live out some Brittany dreams. She would have loved to recreated Oops or Lucky. Kevin said she would have killed Lucky.

Jenna gave a tiny little snippet of Lucky.

Back to the episode recap and we get to the Glist.

Will lets this influence the lesson for the glee club and makes a lesson on bad reputations.

Ice Ice Baby is the ultimate Will Schuester song. It somehow works for Will.

Jenna said they put her with the dancers. Kevin said not to sell herself short.

RuPaul asked her when she was on Dragrace and she said yep. Jenna interpreted the question as being a professional performer not dancer. Kevin said nope, Ru, said dancer.

Jenna said it was hard to watch Kevin just sit there and not be able to dance. As has been said many times they put one of their best dancers in a wheelchair.

Kevin had a lot of fun because everyone was aware he was shoved in a corner. How does he make this fun? Who cares. This started sparked the beginning of Kevin trying to get as many shots in as possible of him doing ridiculous things when he had no right to be in the number.

Alexis Woodall, who was head of post production at the time, mentioned that if they needed more reaction shots they would look for Kevin because he would be doing ridiculous things. Elodie would egg them on to do ridiculous things. Kevin did not think the would use them and they sure did. They always used the crazy reactions. They created a monster out of Artie in this number with how they edited it.

Tina, Artie, and Kurt didn't make it on the Glist. Kurt is upset and this means we are nobodies. Worse then being hated is being invisible. Kurt coms up with the idea to disrupt their reputation and it's like no press is bad press. Which Jenna disagrees with. Kurt decides to perform in the library.

We get the scene with Brittany in the corner saying she took all her antibiotics at the same time and forgot how to move. She's upset she only made 4th on the list. She made out with Mr. Kidney the janitor. Laws were broken but she was also sort of dating a 7 year old in Madonna so I guess it's fine.

Artie gets scared and says he is getting cold feet. Brittany says can you even feel your feet.

Kevin had a question about the outfits. Where is the budget? These sort of look homemade. Is Mercedes still making the costumes? It is mentioned in the pilot and never again. This feels like something Mercedes could have done.

The jackets smelled horrible. The pants were handmade for them. Jenna loves the pants and this number a lot.

Kevin was really scared on the day of filming it. When they record the songs they have the lyrics in front of them. On the day they filmed the scene they didn't have the lyrics and Kevin couldn't remember them. The dancing was also crazy. In the bts Heather mentions needing her inhaler.

Kevin in front of the desk is funny and Jenna forgot he had all the vocals. Jenna was exhausted and sweating. It was so hot. Jenna loves watching this number. Kevin's goal was to facially looking disgusting. Artie had no awareness of his face and Kevin would just go there. The actress that played the librarian was just there to work and had no reaction just like the character.

Everything goes awry. The librarian loves it and wants them to perform at her church. This is when Kurt wants to tell Sue they posted the video.

Mr. Schue goes to apologize to Emma. After that he sees Quinn being pushed around in the hallway and realizes she made the list. It was a very sweet seen between Matt and Dianna.

Kevin loves the interrogation scenes and Kurt calling Mr. Schue out on it.

The other half of the club was doing Run Joey Run. She enlists Artie to direct the video.

Jenna had never heard the song before and was most jarred by this in the episode.

How did Artie go from making Vogue to Run Joey Run? Kevin thought what the real editors of the show did was brilliant. Kevin remembers that everyone was dying when they showed them episode and they got to this performance. Cory told them the blood was just ketchup.

Kevin thinks the fans like Puckelberry. Mark was very confused by it. They all thought it was weird. Jenna didn't hate it as much as the first time we saw that pairing.

Stephen Tobolowsky as the farmer was ridiculous.

Kevin doesn't understand why all the guys get upset over the music video. Jesse getting upset is fair but the other two is weird.

Jenna was upset that she didn't get to sing Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

Lea fudged knowing ballet for Total Eclipse. Groff was really lifting. Lea is tiny but still they were working.

Jesse and Rachel make Jenna giggle because of how serious they take their craft. It seems ridiculous but it feels quite true. Musical theatre people take things very seriously.

Kevin had logistical questions. Is this all in their heads. Who are they singing for? At this point it doesn't matter.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Sushi and Japanese steakhouse Benihana offered pop superstar Britney Spears an attractive offer to come work as one of their famed Hibachi chefs after the singer posted a video online this week of her dancing and gyrating with two large steak knives in her hands.

"Ooo, baby I was thrilled!" Spears told reporters. "It's always been a dream of mine to flip tiny bites of sushi into people's mouths with a big knife. I'm so honored Benihana gave me this opportunity to showcase my knife skills and creative flare!"

Spears will be working at a Los Angeles location of the restaurant chain. The restaurant's manager said he's excited to bring her onto the team and looks forward to seeing what else she can do with those giant knives.

"We've decided to name a special roll after our new star chef, the ‘Unami Did It Again'," Haruki Tanaka commented. Spears's publicist told reporters guests will be able to shout "Hit me Britney one more time!!" when they're ready for more airborne sushi, and that Benihana restaurant is now entering into a conservatorship to maintain control of the singer's assets while she's under their employ.

Open in Tokyo in 1945. A man is running, as another sets out three monkey statues, one each of See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil. The running man comes into a home and sees a woman dead on the floor. A warrior man comes out of a room with armor and a sword. The grieving man calls him Tanaka and says he will kill him for this. He goes for his sword but Tanaka kicks it away. Tanaka says his daughter is dead because she had no honor. The statues of See No Evil moves its hands off its eyes and laughs. The grieving man kills himself with his own sword. Tanaka removes his mask as the statue laughs.

Cut to present day, at the Bushido Kendo Club whose Sensei is M. Musashi. People within are training, as Jack, Micki and Johnny watch from a landing. Jack approaches the Sensei, saying they contacted him about an antique tea set.

Cut to another room, and the Sensei is serving tea to the trio, and asks why they wanted this black antique tea set back. Jack says it is valuable to them, and Musashi asks if it is because of the magic it holds, surprising them. Seems he used the tea set when he first bought it, and a student nearly died. He had heard about a legendary tea set that turns tea to poison. Jack says this is why they want it, to keep it locked away. Musashi seems to trust them, and offers a deal for the set. He wants the cursed Monkey statues, and has heard a wealthy family possesses them, the Tanaka clan. He wants them to get the statues in exchange of the tea set.

Cut to credits.

Tokyo, present day. An old man on oxygen is writing and calls his aide, asking him to prepare the monkey statues. In another room, three young people are anxious about this meeting. The old man is their father. He comes in and they kneel. He talks about his company being founded on honor and will be handed to them upon his death. He has set up a test to see which of them has that honor. He presents a monkey statue and instructions to each of them. Whoever fails the test will be out of the will. He leaves. Oldest son Hitoshi wonders if they can have him committed.

We see the younger son, Koji, back in New York City, sitting with the Hear No Evil statue. He opens the letter and reads. Tanaka's words are heard, telling him to learn to listen and not be so arrogant. He balls up the letter and tosses it. His secretary comes in, and the statue uncovers his ears, allowing him to hear her thoughts. He is surprised, hearing that things ran better while he was in Tokyo. He asks her to bring more files in.

At Curious Goods, Micki can't locate the monkey statues in the manifest. Jack and Johnny have researched Tanaka's company and learn about the three children. Johnny doesn't trust Musashi, but Jack is sure he's telling the truth. Jack has also found a scroll Lewis had with drawings of the three statues. And a symbol that matches the Tanaka company logo. He tells Johnny to go to NYC to check on Koji, and he wants Micki to go to Hong Kong to check on the other son, Hitoshi. She is not happy about such a long journey.

In NYC, Koji hears more thoughts from an employee, about a company that is big enough to take over and how the workers don't think much of his work style. Johnny arrives, wanting to see Koji, but the secretary tells him he needs an appointment. Johnny is insistent, but she says no. He sees a delivery man appear and gets an idea.

Koji calls his father in Tokyo. He tells him about the possible takeover. Tanaka says a wise man knows when to hear and when to be deaf. He hangs up. Koji calls an employee, telling him to buy as much stock in the other company as possible. He says it is intuition. The statue laughs, then glows, and Koji vanishes.

He reappears in Tokyo, in front of his father, dressed in part of his armor. Tanaka says the monkey sent him, and he had provided his son with two paths, to heaven or hell. He gives Koji a sword to kill himself, Koji scoffs and tries to flee. Chimes and gongs ring out, causing Koji pain and ultimately killing him.

Johnny, dressed as the delivery man, heads into Koji's office, even as the secretary tries to stop him. In the office, both are surprised to see it empty, then the lights go off and on and suddenly Koji appears at his desk, dead. Johnny says to call an ambulance. He checks Koji, sees he is dead and goes to get a bag for the statue. His back turned, he doesn't notice Tanaka's aide appear and grab the statue, but he notices him rush out and pursues. He chases the man to the lobby, but he is gone.

In Hong Kong, Hitoshi has the See No Evil monkey statue. As he reads, Tanaka's voice tries to advise him about those he deceives, and in doing so, deceives himself. He is told to become a truthful and trusted man. Hitoshi scoffs as well, shredding the letter.

Jack is just coming in from attempting to see Michiko when Johnny calls. Johnny tells him about Koji being dead from a cerebral hemorrhage, and the old man grabbing the statue. Jack says Micki's day in Hong Kong is just beginning and they hang up.

In Hong Kong, Micki is trying to talk to Hitoshi and offers condolences about Koji's death. He ignores her. As he is leaving the building and getting in his car, Micki continues to try and talk and get through to him, asking about the statues. He denies knowledge. She gives her card to him and he drives off.

Jack visits Musashi at the Club. He asks the man translate the paper with the statues on it. Musashi says it is the legend of the statues, and that those who master them can obtain immortality and that all men live through their children. Jack leaves.

In Tokyo, his aide is trying to get Tanaka to take his medication, but he says he is feeling better. He also gives his aide the oxygen tank. The aide also mentions Micki snooping around Hitoshi, and is told to find out more. Tanaka writes in a book.

Micki, in a taxi, follows Tanaka to a plant run by the company. She watches him in a truck as a woman from customs introduces herself to Hitoshi. She tells him importing ivory is illegal and he'll be going to jail. He denies it, and the monkey uncovers its eyes. Tanaka again says things aren't what they appear to be, and suddenly the illegal ivory transforms into a plate, to the agent's dismay. She leaves, and Micki watches as the plate turns back into an ivory figure. Hitoshi is happy with the statue, picks it up and it laughs. The light goes dark and Hitoshi vanishes.

He is sent before Tanaka, as well. Tanaka says he abused the statue's power. Tanaka offers him the sword, to die with honor. Hitoshi says he won't be intimidated. He picks up the sword, aims it at himself, then instead holds it at his father's throat. But a burst of flame hits him in the face and Hitoshi falls over. Tanaka appears saddened by this.

Back in the truck, Micki goes for the statue, but the aide appears behind her, knocks her down and takes it himself, then vanishes. Micki watches, then turns to see dead Hitoshi, his eyes burned out.

Back at Curious Goods, Micki calls to fill Jack in on what happened, and Jack is confused. Micki wonders if something other than a curse from Lewis is at work, maybe old man Tanaka. Jack isn't sure, but has to see Michiko. He tells Micki to take the next flight home. Micki warns him to be careful.

Michiko opens her statue, the Speak No Evil monkey. She is told to speak for herself, have courage and only speak what she knows to be true.

In Tokyo, Tanaka has the two statues he'd given his sons. He also seems much healthier. His aide offers info on Micki being an antiques dealer and gives her card, which Tanaka burns.

Jack is back seeing Musashi, saying another Tanaka son died and wants answers, but the man says he can't help, he is forbidden to. He tells Jack to follow him and they sit at a desk. He tells Jack how Tanaka stole the statues from the temple of a monkey god in Burma. He tells Jack this made that family immensely rich, but wiped out the coming generations, the first time 6 centuries ago. With each generations deaths, the patriarch is revitalized, and it is always the same man, Tanaka. The monkeys allow him to live on if he sacrifices his families to it. He tells Jack he, Musashi, is one of the last Samurais, and was tasked with stopping Tanaka and returning the monkeys to the temple. But, he fell in love with Tanaka's daughter, he is the man we saw kill himself in the flashback. He didn't die, though, and shows Jack his scar, and says he has to live a humble life in defeat. Jack just needs to know what the monkeys do, but Musashi says no, only the gods decide. Jack says maybe they are the ones who spared his life. But getting nowhere, Jack leaves.

He is at Michiko's office waiting to see her. An employee comes in to see Michiko, a man who has missed 30 days of work due to family problems. As the man talks, the statue moves and tells Michiko he really has a mistress, and is also cheating the company. Michiko gives the man a second chance, hoping things improve for him. He leaves, and the monkey mocks her choice. She tells the statue she won't use its powers. It laughs, the room darkens and she screams. Jack and the secretary hear and rush in, but she is gone. Jack puts the statue under his coat and leaves.

Michiko appears before Tanaka, who looks much younger, and who says he is proud of her, having waited a long time for someone to act with honor. She has mastered the monkeys and they will now serve her and he can move on. He gives her a sword and says she must kill him now, and her children in the future, when they dishonor her. She says no and drops the sword. He puts it back in her hands, and sits with his back to her. She says she can't, he says she must. Michiko instead stabs herself and dies.

Musashi pulls an old box off a shelf an opens it. Inside is an ancient Samurai sword. He unsheathes it.

Jack puts the statue in the vault and closes it. Upstairs, he sees the front door is open but no one around. Suddenly, Tanaka's aide appears, asking for the statue. Jack plays dumb, and the man knocks him out. Johnny and Micki come back and can't find Jack, but then find a note saying Tanaka will trade Jack for the statue, but doesn't say where to go. They go to see if Jack put the statue in vault, which they find he did. Micki thinks it will transport them to Tanaka and Jack, but only if they take it out of the vault. Johnny warns of a trap, but Micki says it is their only chance. They shut the vault and go upstairs, and find Musashi waiting with his sword. He says he is hear to help Jack. Suddenly the statue laughs and the room glows. They stand close together.

They are transported to Tanaka's home in Tokyo. They see Jack tied up and held by Tanaka, who wants the statue. Johnny says to untie Jack first, Tanaka says they play by his rules and puts his sword against Jack's head. Jack tells Micki to keep him from getting all three. He cuts Jack enough to draw a little blood, but then Musashi appears with his sword and they fight. Micki and Johnny free Jack. Musashi tells Tanaka who he is and they fight. Musashi pretends to arm himself, but at the last minute drops his sword and Tanaka stabs and kills him. Jack picks up the sword and tells Tanaka that a Samurai who kills an unarmed man has no honor. The statues laugh as Tanaka says he was tricked. Fire and clanging gongs break out as Tanaka feels intense pain. Johnny grabs the other two statues, and they huddle close together and are transported away as Tanaka screams and dies. The group find themselves back in Curious Goods.

As they put the statues in the vault, Johnny says he will go to the Kendo Club to pick up Musashi's tea set. Micki asks if Jack is okay, he says he is okay, and Mushashi gave his life for them, dying in honor. Jack wonders why Tanaka would keep killing his children for selfish profit. Micki says he couldn't win, and Johnny says maybe that is the true nature of a curse. They leave the vault.

My thoughts:

Love the interesting items used here. We see them on the hunt of a tea set, but then end up chasing a completely different set of items they would have been clueless on.

The monkey statues are cool, but there is so much going on in this one hour that their use per person is very brief. Can see this episode having been expanded to a two-parter with more on each of the children dealing with each statue.

Musashi being the man from the flashback actually surprised me. I like that he got some redemption, for himself.

I wonder what happened to Tanaka's aide? He knew a lot of what was going on, including being transported by magic many times.

Hopefully Johnny went and got that tea set ASAP. Who knows if it would be 'aware' of them coming and call out to someone at the Kendo Club to come take it for themselves.

I liked this one, but just a lot crammed in to one episode. Breathing room could have helped.

Oh, and the statues reminded me of the Cupid statue from Season One, with their stop-motion movements. Fun effect, for me.

Instead of balls and galas, with their evergreen garlands, towers of champagne, and list after list of guests who needed to be greeted, chatted with, danced with. A normal party, with paper streamers, handmade ornaments, and cups of hot chocolate.

One that, to Sonia’s surprise, included mistletoe. Perhaps the only holdover from the fancy occasions she participated in back home, it had been Teruteru Hanamura’s ‘other’ gift for the party (beyond the long table with a veritable holiday feast laid upon it, of course), and now it was a challenge, a competition of sorts, as to who would be caught under it. And while she did trust her friends, she didn’t want to risk someone’s discomfort for the sake of tradition.

But as she side-stepped Tsumiki Mikan, who had found herself draped in the extra tinsel they hadn’t used on the tree and tripping over the extra silver and gold strands, the Ultimate Princess realized that, this time, it wouldn’t be just her friend subjected to public embarrassment.

It was her turn, too.

For in the rest of the class’s reflexes not to be trapped under Mikan (and taunted by Hiyoko, to boot), someone else had shared the same idea in avoiding catastrophe. A situation that, as Sonia carefully turned to face him, she wasn’t sure if she’d been given good fortune or if the universe was laughing at her. Discomfort, indeed: Sonia was now sequestered under the mistletoe with the one person she actually wanted there. No matter how poor of an idea it was, something that her pounding heart wouldn’t allow her to forget. At least she was trained to handle uncomfortable situations, to go on as if nothing was amiss. Sonia didn’t usually enjoy putting the princess before the person, but in situations like the one she now faced, when she was torn between giving into her impulses and making a quick exit, a sense of royal composure couldn’t hurt.

“A-ah, well, I suppose it’s tradition, is it not?” She spoke first, keeping her cheerful smile plastered upon her lips and praying Gundham’s hearing wasn’t strong enough to hear her heartbeat. Or that he didn’t notice the tension that had built up in her shoulders, or the way her hands fidgeted a bit, clasped together before her. “I can be quick about it, don’t worry.” 

A nod to the rest of the class, some of whom now crowded around Mikan and Hiyoko while others watched Sonia and Gundham in fascination. He never seemed like the type who wanted to be touched, at least by anything other than his animals: Sonia could only imagine how much he’d detest a public display of affection. She swallowed: it felt wrong, to be the only one who would gain any pleasure from this.

And then she swiftly placed a kiss on each of his cheeks. Gentle, more of a greeting between her closest friends back home than anything else, but when performed thousands of kilometers from Novoselic, in a culture she’d learned was overwhelmingly touch and affection-starved...well. She might have well stuck her tongue down his throat for the entire class to see.

She’d apologize later. In private, and hope he’d forgive her. Or that it hadn’t mattered to him at all, even if it meant everything to her. 

“Merry Christmas, Tanaka-san,” She nodded, holding her head high like the princess she was as she sauntered off towards the refreshments table. It was all she could do to ignore the whispers as she poured herself a third cup of hot chocolate: it wouldn’t settle her nerves, but it was delicious.
