As China’s 'encirclement' of Taiwan continues, US warship sails through South China Sea

As China’s 'encirclement' of Taiwan continues, US warship sails through South China Sea
Tumblr media
Istanbul (The Times Groupe) – Beijing conducted joint flights of jets and naval frigates on Monday after a US warship sailed through the disputed South China Sea.
People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said it “organized naval and air forces to track and monitor” the US Navy destroyer USS Milius that “illegally trespassed into waters near China’s Meiji Reef in Nansha Islands in the South China Sea on Monday.”
Earlier on Monday, the 7th Fleet of the US military in Asia-Pacific deployed its Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) in the South China Sea.
On April 10, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) asserted navigational rights and freedoms in the South China Sea near the Spratly Islands, consistent with international law.

The fleet said it “asserted navigational rights and freedoms in the South China Sea near the Spratly Islands, consistent with international law.”
“ After completing the operation, USS Milius exited the excessive claim area and continued operations in the South China Sea.
Within 12 nautical miles of Mischief Reef, the United States conducted normal operations. Mischief Reef, which is submerged at high tide in its naturally formed state, is not entitled to a territorial sea under customary international law, according to the statement.
During the US warship’s voyage, China continued its three-day “military sword” exercises around Taiwan.
According to the Chinese daily Global Times, the PLA Navy Shandong aircraft carrier group was in waters east of Taiwan island where Chinese sorties, including those of J-15 carrier-borne fighter jets equipped with live missiles, took off and landed.
Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said its air defense units “remain on high alert for contingencies, steadfastly maintaining their posts 24/7, showing that we can and we will defend our skies.”
Taiwan detected 70 PLA aircraft and 11 PLA naval vessels around the island nation earlier today, 35 of which crossed the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s southwest and southeast air defense identification zones (ADIZ).
“And we will never give up our beliefs,” Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said on Twitter.
Neither the median line nor the ADIZ are recognized in Beijing.
In response to Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen’s 10-day trip to Central America last week, US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy hosted Tsai Ing-wen for a meeting in California.

having a hard time explaining grimdark and trickster to a friend
think you can help?
they get godtier just fine but the other two keep confusing them because right now they think
grimdark = chaos in anarchy sense, but trickster = chaos in haha funny meme sense
Sure, let me see…
GRIMDARK mode is described by Doc scratch as “going completely off the deep end in every way”.
It turns your skin an unnatural dark gray, and in rose’s case to be surrounded by a dark aura, while jade had a spacey green aura.
It’s basically a black magic power up deeply connected to the horroterrors, a state of mind that comes from letting them influence a broken mind. For Rose, it was the death of her mother, and then trying to reveal the horror terror’s secrets. For Jade, she was heartbroken, but also she got mind controlled into entering the grimdark state by the condesce, who is also connected to the horrorterrors.
As an extra, Hussie described Eridan as also going into grimdark when he began murdering people, tho his case must’ve been more symbolical, as he presented the perfect scenario to become grimdark, the complete loss of hope, waiting for Jack to kill them all (due to his title being prince of hope, ergo Destroyer of hope) added to Feferi breaking their moiraliance talking with Sollux, being the detonator for his broken mind, and him being a Derse player, so his dream self was around the horroterrors and had interacted with them prior, he was also interested in magic like rose, had a wand just like her and sought for answers about, like her. He just lacked the connection to the horroterrors in that crucial moment.
Tumblr media
So Grimdark is basically when the horroterrors cause the player's most primal and violent tendencies to be pushed to the forefront
The grimdark is also described a “the fabled blackdeath trance of the woegothics”. So a dark trance that people like Rose and Eridan are inclined to fall victim of (in my opinion)
TRICKSTER mode, in the other hand, is described by Calliope as something that brings out your full potential, that brings all your walls down and puts all your inner thoughts in the outside and all your creative power in your hands. It strips you from all social and mental barrier.
It gives you reality altering Powers, allowing you to jump from place to place, probably dimension hopping, manifest objects and makes you super happy and candy colored to the point of losing grip in reality
The problem is that cherubs are very different from humans. For a cherub, who is supposed to fly around in the endless space protecting/destroying a certain part of the void, and its inhabited planets, feeding of black holes, fighting entities to death to ultimately mate in the shape of a big ass snake, a juju that’s basically drugs that can make you forget every wall you built up floating around space alone, and move forward as a happy missile ready to find a mate sounds good. But humans are social creatures, and cherubs are not. Cherubs don’t answer to anyone and don’t have Friends, they don’t need to follow any social cues. Humans built their relationships carefully, and they have secrets and barriers to protect themselves and others. They hide things like crushes and resentment and problems, because well, for the sake of peace, for the sake of not braking every relationship they have. That’s something that Calliope and Caliborn never fully grasped and understood why the kids came to hate the juju when they woke up
Tumblr media
So that’s all I could gather. Essentially they are different kinds of power ups, opposite to one another at their core, BUT in both the person isn’t fully there and is being guided by primal instincts, be it rage/sadness or Hope/happiness and they both have consequences in the user because neither is supposed to be used on humans or even trolls.

The U.S. military is moving an aircraft carrier strike group and military aircraft closer to Israel as a show of support, and will also begin supplying Israel with munitions and other military supplies immediately, said Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Austin said Sunday afternoon that he had directed the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to go to the Eastern Mediterranean. The group includes the carrier, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, and four Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers. “We have also taken steps to augment U.S Air Force F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter aircraft squadrons in the region,” he said. “In addition, the United States government will be rapidly providing the Israel Defense Forces with additional equipment and resources, including munitions. The first security assistance will begin moving today and arriving in the coming days."

Originally designed as a cost-effective tank destroyer to counter Zebra or Equestrian armor in challenging terrain, the Condor MBT is central to the Royal Griffon Army's combined arms doctrine. Battle-tested in various conflicts by Hippogriffia and other Griffon allies, the current generation combines the incremental improvements of the series.
Add-on composite armor gives the turret it's distinctive shape and brings the protection level up to par with Zebra MBTs. Explosive reactive panels shield the thinner hull and turret sides.
Sabot and Fragmentation ammunition is kept a armored bulkhead in the lower right of the turret basket, from which an elevator brings rounds up into the crew compartment and feeds into the main gun automatically. When firing ATGMs the gunner puts the gun in manual mode and the commander helps load the missile from the storage rack in the bustle. The missile is then guided to its target by the tank's laser designator.
The Condor is well suited to hit-and-run tactics thanks to its mobility and low silhouette.

The aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt is leaving the Middle East
Sep 12, 2024 at 11:41 AM
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon’s rare move to keep two Navy aircraft carriers in the Middle East over the past several weeks has now finished, and the Theodore Roosevelt is heading home, according to U.S. officials.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had ordered the TR to extend its deployment for a short time and remain in the region as fellow carrier Abraham Lincoln was pushed to get to the area more quickly.
The Biden administration beefed up the U.S. military presence there last month to help defend Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its proxies and to safeguard U.S. troops.
U.S. commanders in the Middle East have long argued that the presence of a U.S. aircraft carrier and the warships accompanying it has been an effective deterrent in the region, particularly for Iran. Since the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip began last fall, there has been a persistent carrier presence in and around the region — and for short periods they have overlapped to have two of the carriers there at the same time.
Prior to last fall, however, it had been years since the U.S. had committed that much warship power to the region.
The decision to bring the Roosevelt home comes as the war in Gaza has dragged on for 11 months, with tens of thousands of people dead, and international efforts to mediate a cease-fire between Israel and the Hamas militant group have repeatedly stalled as they accuse each other of making additional and unacceptable demands.
For a number of months earlier this year the carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower remained in the Red Sea, able both to respond to help Israel and to defend commercial and military ships from attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. The carrier, based in Norfolk, Virginia, returned home after a more than eight-month deployment in combat that the Navy said was the most intense since World War II.
U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss troop movements, said the San Diego-based Roosevelt and the destroyer Daniel Inouye are expected to be in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s region on Thursday. The other destroyer in the strike group, the Russell, had already left the Middle East and has been operating in the South China Sea.
The Lincoln, which is now in the Gulf of Oman with several other warships, arrived in the Middle East about three weeks ago, allowing it to overlap with the Roosevelt until now.
There also are a number of U.S. ships in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, and two destroyers and the guided missile submarine Georgia are in the Red Sea.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group has transited the Straits of Gibraltar and is racing to join the USS Gerald R. Ford CSG in the eastern Mediterranean. When it arrives, the US/NATO will have assembled a fleet of no fewer than 73 ships, including the 30+ NATO ships taking part in the Dynamic Mariner exercises off the coast of Italy. This is, I believe, the largest US/NATO assemblage of warships in at least the past half-century. In addition to the many support ships, the following major warships are present: — 2 US supercarriers (Ford and Eisenhower) — 2 VTOL aircraft carriers (USS Bataan and ITS Cavour) — 2 Guided-missile cruisers — 11 Guided-missile destroyers — Several frigates There are also undoubtedly a large number of submarines present, each one of which packs substantial stand-off firepower. I will once again emphasize that this fleet is not being assembled in order to assist the Israelis in their ongoing project to destroy HAMAS and the 2.5 million inhabitants of Gaza. In my view, this powerful fleet can have only one possible mission: to eradicate all Russian, Iranian, and Iranian-affiliated military power currently present in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. Needless to say, these are extremely portentous developments that entail great risk of plunging the world into the biggest and most destructive war in human history.

🇾🇪🇵🇸 🚀 🚨 🔥MISSILE FIRED FROM YEMENI TERRITORY RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIP FIRE IN THE RED SEA🔥
In a piece in the The War Zone, journalist Howard Altman lays out how a missile fired from Houthi-controlled Yemeni territory is responsible for a commercial ship fire in the Red Sea.
According to the report, the M/T Strinda, a commercial chemical tanker sailing under the Norwegian flag, was sailing approximately 60-miles north of the Bab el-Mandab Straight when it was "attacked by a missile coming out of a Houthi-controlled area in Yemen, two U.S. military officials told The War Zone".
The vessel is battling a fire, according to the official.
The U.S. responded quickly to the situation, with the guided-missile Destroyer USS Mason responding to an emergency alert and was in sight of the Strinda at the time of speaking with the reporter.
This marks the second time in two weeks that the USS Mason was involved in an emergency alert involving Yemeni missiles.
According to the Yemeni Houthi Military, the attacks are in support of occupied Palestine and the Palestinians facing genocide in Gaza from Israeli aggression.
Just days earlier, a French Frigate claimed to have shot down two Yemeni drones over the Red Sea.
Similarly, on December 3rd., three missiles fired from Yemeni territory struck three commercial vessels in the Red Sea, according to U.S. Central Command, known for seeding stories that boost pro-U.S. war narratives using partially or completely false information.
Nevertheless, U.S. Cencom claims the Arleigh-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney responded to distress calls from two of those vessels.
