The Daily Tea #2
gunpowder green tea with jasmine
Tumblr media
The packaging got me on this one. The Tao of Tea's organic pearl gunpowder loose leaf green tea is beautiful. I think I will be getting this brand more often not only because of the quality of the tea itself but because of the packaging. A nice sturdy round tin sealed with a sticker that pops cleanly and easily when turned. Underneath the circular top is a beautiful metallic tin top with a small circular handle and their logo embossed on it.
Be careful! When I popped the lid off, I lost quite a bit of tea from the impact of me yanking the lid off.
Why didn't I get green tea with jasmine together? A couple reasons. I wanted a good green tea on its own. And I wanted to have some jasmine on hand for other blends in the future.
I brewed it carefully - knowing green tea is finicky to brew. Don't boil the water. But make sure it's hot. Don't let the leaves soak for too long. I used a tea strainer that sits on top so I knew I wouldn't brew it for too long.
Now on to the taste.
Because I added the jasmine, it smelled and tasted very floral right off the bat. I did add honey to this. A strong green tea flavor lingered underneath the jasmine, grounding it as the jasmine kept it bright. The honey kept the bitterness at bay when the jasmine flavor went away. As I got closer down to the bottom of the cup, it got more bitter and I just tasted more of the honey. I wonder how I can keep the jasmine flavor to last to the bottom of the cup. Hmmm... (any tips let me know). Perhaps a different strainer and equal parts green tea and jasmine...
Overall, I really liked both flavors. Green tea with jasmine is one of my favorite tea blends and this Tao of Tea is one of my new favorite tea brands. This was a good strong green tea to add to my collection - good for when I'm in the need of a light boost in energy and alertness and antioxidants.
All in all, a good purchase and a delightful cup of tea.

Health Benefits Of Drinking Gunpowder Green Tea
Tumblr media
Gunpowder green tea is made with Chinese gunpowder green tea leaves, which are pan-fired in an oven and then rolled into pellets. The leaves are also processed under high pressure and low temperature to maintain the freshness of the leaves. Gunpowder green tea has a high amount of antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory properties, which is why it's so popular among people with chronic conditions like arthritis.
Health Benefits:
Gunpowder green tea is one of the most popular varieties of Organic Loose Tea in the world. It's used as a health supplement and has many purported benefits, including:
1.Helps Maintain Blood Sugar Levels Because gunpowder green tea contains caffeine (which boosts metabolism), it can help maintain healthy blood sugar levels throughout the day so that you don't experience spikes or crashes that could lead to cravings for unhealthy foods (which often contain lots of sugar).
2.  It's good for your teeth Green tea has been shown to help prevent tooth decay, because it contains fluoride. Fluoride helps inhibit bacteria from sticking to your teeth and forming plaque, which can lead to cavities.
3. It may help lower your risk of heart disease A study from Taiwan found that people who drank three or more cups of green tea daily had a lower risk of heart disease than those who drank less than one cup a day. Researchers aren't sure exactly why this is the case, but they think it might have something to do with the antioxidants in green tea that help block LDL cholesterol from oxidizing—which could reduce the risk of plaque buildup in arteries and blood clots in veins.
4. It might help you live longer According to a study published in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, researchers found that drinking five cups of green tea per day was associated with living longer than drinking none at all—and even more so if you drink more than five cups per day! They estimate that people who drink this amount are about 30% less likely to die during an average follow-up period than those who don't drink any
5. Boost Your Immune System Your immune system protects your body against harmful substances like bacteria and viruses by producing antibodies which fight off infections before they become serious problems in our bodies!
6. It helps in Weight Loss Acts as a diuretic, helping to flush toxins out of your system and promote weight loss by increasing the rate at which your kidneys remove excess water from your body Bottom Line: Gunpowder green tea is a type of organic loose tea that comes in its own reusable tea bag. You can brew it with or without milk, and you can add sugar if desired. It has a slightly sweet flavor, with hints of honey, vanilla, and citrus. So If you are also want to buy the these organic tea and organic chai spice, Visit Kombucha Kamp to buy online.

I've been grumbling for days because I bought English breakfast tea from the brand Tazo and it is the weakest black tea I have ever encountered. I feel like I'm drinking milk water with the faintest whisper of tea. I've taken to using two tea bags and steeping it for longer than usual and it barely made a difference. I forgot the two tea bags in for an hour and they're so weak that the tea didn't even get a bitter, tannin taste like normal. It was still weak. This is so much worse than like every other brand available at the grocery store yet costs significantly more. An enemy has been made of me. I think they sold me tea bags full of paper with one molecule of tea leaf.

From my tea sesh today.
As much as it is against the traditional tea ettiquete, I love me some low grade gunpowder gongfu style. I've had some tea-loving friends criticize me for it, but I don't care: it's cheap, it's yummy, it helps and my immune system, and it's also fun.

Quick Moroccan Mint Tea
Recently I moved and have a Fresh Thyme Farmers Market right around the corner. Seriously, like, when it's warmer out, I can walk there no problem. But they have their own cold teas, and I decided to pick up a bottle of their Moroccan Mint Green Tea when I first went.
It is so delicious! Perfect balance of the green, mint, and sweet.
I think I had an interest in Moroccan Mint tea before because I've had a big thing of spearmint in my tea cupboard for a while. So I decided to look up how to make Moroccan Mint tea myself so I can save money and have it whenever.
But when I looked it up, it requires fresh mint. I do have some fresh mint trying to take over what little ground I have out back, but it's not doing to well right now against the cold. Also, I want to use all of that spearmint I bought however many years ago.
So I looked up how to make it with dried mint. Thankfully someone said you can use 2 tsp of spearmint with 3 tsp of gunpowder green. And then you also add sugar. I tried just the two teas last night and it was great! Today I added some sugar to my cup before putting the tea in, and it was perfect!
I'm sure it's better with the fresh mint and the pouring technique, but this makes use of what I already have. Also, I know it's not authentic Moroccan Mint tea, but I'm happy with it!

Reblog for bigger sample sizes. I know there are LOTS of types of teas out there, and I tried to cover most of the ones I could think of (I split up herbal because there are so many different flavor profiles!)
Also, I know the names might vary based on where you live and there are a lot more subcategories than what I listed. If there are any that I haven't listed that you love, please let me know!
