me and my friend got into a discussion about ingo and cynthia

not in like a shipping manner bc the submas twins are aroace icons but in like a 'who would win' manner.

we've come to the conclusion that in a 1 on 1, if ingo had a bit of prep (i.e. giving haxorus trailblaze to counter gastrodon and then a haban berry (to halve the first dragon-type hit from garchomp)) ingo would probably win. not easily, mind you, but he'd probably get by by the threads on his hat

i have a much deeper dive below the cut so if for some reason you want to read my unhinged thoughts 1 by 1, yknow what to do

i want to mention that the calculations i do later on are made using this calculator made by smogon.

now i want it to be clear that this is all assuming that each trainer doesnt switch out their pokemon to try and counter one another

cynthia: spiritomb - roserade - gastrodon - lucario - milotic - garchomp

ingo: crustle - klinklang - garbodor - excadrill - haxorus - chandelure

spiritomb may not have a direct counter, as none of ingos pokemon can learn fairy-type moves, but he can stall it out with toxic and venoshock on garbodor if he can tank a couple psychics from spiritomb

roserade can be taken out by excadrill's aerial ace (ingo, real talk, why do you have that?), poison jab, chandelure's overheat or garbodor's psychic

gastrodon doesnt have a direct counter either, but as i mentioned above i think that if ingo had haxorus learn trailblaze, then he'd be golden - but as it stands, base moves, no change, i think he'd just have to brute force it

lucario folds as soon as haxorus, crustle or excadrill use earthquake. he gets hit hard by chandelure's overheat, AND garbodor's focus blast (if it hits)

milotic also doesnt have a direct counter, unless you count klinklang's volt switch, which he could probably cheese with garbodor + toxic / volt switch from klinklang back and forth

now garchomp ... this is honestly what started the discussion. i wholeheartedly believe that if ingo gave haxorus a haban berry, then he would beat garchomp. garchomp's strongest dragon type move is only dragon rush, while haxorus has dragon claw.

if garchomp uses dragon rush, haban will halve the damage. there's still a 6.3% chance for it to OHKO, (Lvl 66 0 Atk Garchomp Dragon Rush vs. Lvl 50 0 HP / 0 Def Haban Berry Haxorus: 129-153 (85.4 - 101.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO) but unless ingo gets really unlucky (or gets my luck) he'll be able to tank the hit with at least a LITTLE bit of health left.

now youre probably asking 'but garchomp would just outspeed haxorus for the first time, not allowing for the 2hko opportunity!!!!' youre wrong, actually. in terms of EVs, even in pokemon platinum cynthia's team didn't have EV training at all, and based on my research her garchomp has a neutral nature. this means that haxorus, who has jolly, outspeeds garchomp by THREE POINTS.

haxorus has 163 speed - garchomp has 160.

ingo is beating cynthia.

Azure is big but fluffy and dark blue in color… he’s also been eating fish and rawst berries more often that normal noibat food. Does this help in identifying him?

Hmm. To me, it sounds like that Azure's mother was a "Fruitvern" and his father was from the Hydreigon line making for a very interesting cross! Azure is most likely going to rely on his sonar/echolocation abilities as he grows due to Deino and Zweilous less than stellar vision. Don't worry if he bumps into things at first! He's just getting used to the new environment! Fish, berries, and traditional noibat food is a good diet for him. Sounds like he likes bitter food. Some other bitter berries are Leppa, Oran, Lum, Sitrus, Aguav, Nanab, Wepear, Pomeg, Kelpsy, Hondew, Rabuta, Durin, Rindo, Coba, Haban, Ganlon, Petaya, Jaboca, and Maranga! I've heard that Alomomola is often enjoyed by pokemon who enjoy bitter tastes but getting him fish found in areas around where you caught him might remind him of home!

The booklet details Drampa care, including how to best respond to their gentle yet protective nature around those they befriend, and it's complete with a hand-drawn picture of the Pokemon. Moments after, six berries, which look similar to strawberry guavas, and a note marked by that signature red heart show up:] “Once again, glad to see that you’re back! If Starwalker wants to ask any questions regarding the Rockruff line, or even get a care booklet, they’re free to ask! Those berries I sent you by the way, they’re Haban berries, one for each of you to try! But maybe boil them down first if you don’t like bitter flavors, doing so helps bring the berry’s sweetness. Oh yeah! Did someone else give you Z-Crystals too? If you’d like, send a picture of them, and I could identify which ones were gifted.”

Thank you so much! I gave a berry to everyone and I think Sage liked it! Taffy made a bit of a face though. You were right about it being bitter, but it wasn’t bad!

Swoobat mail a basket identical in appearance to the one for Corey but it contains rawst, aguav, coba, rindo, and haban berries. It also contains a Pokemon safe chocolate bar meant to imitate dark chocolate and a small pokemon safe salad kit full of bitter veggies

Seems the best day to share my favourite Delibird Day themed bake: a haban berry puffin with icing, cream, and nomel curd! i did not have enough dye to make them using rawst but haban is similar enough

💯cassette: 1. despite having a sense of smell, cassette has no sense of taste 2.in (in universe) early designs for cassette, charri originally wanted cassette to be reminiscent of Ichigo/mew strawberry 3. Cassette has limited ability to experience physical sensations, and is currently "little kid making slideshow to convince parents to get them a pet" style trying to get charri to update him

💯charlotte: 1.Charlotte technically has like, dissociative amnesia, which is to say a lot of her childhood she doesn't remember properly due to truama 2.Charlotte is like genetically(?) a very, not powerful but like healthy(?) vampire, this is to say she requires less blood than most to be fully functioning (including magical abilities) esspecially less to be able to regenerate/fast healing, she also is less to prone to hunger, and more resistant and responsive to solid/human foods, and has greater potential for magical abilities 3.Charlotte's original (human) hair color was a lot more saturated and light blue than grey

I mean she's a vampire, she has literally killed people, yes for survival but Charlotte isn't very 'mercy-ful' to her victims, thats not even acknowledging that like, she very much could have avoided killing anyone. She's definitely somewhat sadistic. 2. what really makes 1 questionable is she's not like, horribly regreting said actions, she's very apathetic bout it and while she understands that 'killing people is not good actually' she just sorta doesn't care, while she doesn't go out of her way to harm others she would do it again with no guilt 3. she's not very nice to Jim (the boo that is likely the ghost of one of the staff from the manor) Jim literally wants only the best for her and tries to take care of her and Charlotte sorta pushes him off and generally is really insensitive towards him

🤍kaiya: these are def less questionable considering they all improve greatly post-character arc but still 1. Kaiya's kinda a jerk sometimes, very 'not like the other girls tm' she generally doesn't assume the best of people or give them the benefit of the doubt. 2. she's sorta possessive over those she does deem her friend, like doesn't like a friend of hers being friends with people that aren't also her friends, and isn't past taking advantage of a friend's kindness. 3. Kaiya is always complaining about problems she's caused for herself, Kaiya can't get past her pride and stubbornness even when it would be for her own good, she refuses to admit when she's wrong even when she KNOWS she's wrong

🥪Sunny and Daisy having picnics and lunch dates where they eat various fruits and berries and whenever they have pokebeans sunny points out their heart-shaped nfjksnfadfa. screw it ima share their favorite foods from like the foods that are in pokemon games. sunny's favorite berries are nomel and belue, Daisy's are lum and haban. their go-to drink from the lil pokemon center cafes alola has would be pinap juice for sunny and roserade tea for daisy. There's also those restaurants with z-meals throughout alola. but i'm pretty sure the options are just 3 different meal sizes. Though the battle buffer in hau'oli city does have options, Sunny would get hoen ramen and Daisy would get the rindo salad. Sunny would pick a sour malasada even over a mythical malasada, and Daisy would favor sweet and bitter malasadas. Sunny likes yellow pokebeans the best and daisy likes orange. Daisy's been to multiple regions and has talked to Sunny about all the food he should try if they ever visit. I think it'd be cute if they visited galar together, in which Daisy would like sweet bean medley curry and Sunny would like sour coconut curry. Out of sandwich recipes from paldea Sunny would like tropical sandwiches and Daisy would like smoky sandwich or noodle sandwich.

🥪Button's love for apple juice is almost irrational, like the guy will go through lengths to acquire apple juice. fnkajdak Button really likes Onigiri and seafood but in all honesty his day to day lunch is just instant microwave noodles

😓Kaiya is very stubborn, she doesn't like being talked down to at all and she feels like letting others teach her new things is like admitting their supeirior to her, this is a big part of her arc sense another character in her story, Suika is very much a mentor type character (while kaiya's the magical girl protag, suika is the 'leader')

😓Button used to be leaning to the stubbron side but post-angstera he's very open, they're also the type of person who's just absolutely mind-blown and excited and curious about the simplest things

my usual drink is an milkshake blend of Haban berry, Passho berry & Nanab berry! Thoughts? :)

Well, this would not be my preferred drink or milkshake, but the berries compliment each other at least. Have you tried changing the Passho-Berry for a Colbur-Berry? I think it could add a little more fruity flavour. I imagine the texture a little bit drier and... pelty with the Passho-Berry. I guess i should try it at least though.

Of course i also do not know how exactly you are making a "milkshake", if you simply use milk or cream, or if you put ice cream in there as well. If you do not use ice cream, i would suggest you try that at least once.

A little bit unrelated, this drink could be very healthy for certain poison-type Pokémon, as Tix tells me. They are actually feeding something similar to Pumpkin and the BLT to help them with their toxin production, though i am not an expert and do not know the details. - Olivia
