What systems would you recommend to replicate the feel of shounen animes or hacknslash video games?
Depending on the level of crunch you want, there's a number I could see myself recommending:
Clash by @sabrinahawthorne is on the lighter side and more focused on genre emulation. It explicitly goes for emulating the story beats and strucuture of shonen battle anime and is mostly about one-on-one battles! It's currently also being crowdfunded on Crowdfundr!
Valor is on the crunchier side and gives a lot of power to players to build their characters and powers via point budgets instead of being limited to classes and archetypes. A very interesting tactical combat system with lots of nods to action anime.
Beacon is also a crunchier tactical combat focused one that differs from Valor in the sense that it has classes, so instead of spending lots of points players will be making discrete character creation choices. It's also very heavily inspired by Final Fantasy games, especially XIV!
Anima Prime is another lighter one! It's a game that is heavily about combat and resource management, and takes lots of explicit influence from JRPGs and anime. It's also free! Haven't had a chance to play it, but I've heard great things about it!

From my knowledge, Doombringer is an ex admin on the killer side. I saw some posts on twt on how he would be an outcasts within the killer group due to his previous position and his sense of justice(?) So maybe 007n7 and him would connect with each other, being the outcasts of their respective groups n all that
Dusekkar x 007n7
Idk, I just thought it was funny there’s a piece of in-game dialogue about how Dusekkar reminding 007n7 of someone when requesting their magic which could either be an allusion to Noli or the 𝓟𝓾𝓶𝓹𝓴𝓲𝓷. Getting into a relationship with someone bc they remind you of your exes is the type of misery I need to see from 07

i think doombringer and 7n7 would mesh so well....... i had a fic idea a while back where 007n7 was his rubber duck on a leetcode problem as he was trying to catch him. it was really sweet. this is reviving my brainworms, i think they could work so fucking well..... he would be one of the most willing to say he's changed as a person just from hearing him. i also think they deserve to like smooch each ofher in peace. i think theyd have a happy ending. theyd at least be good friends if not have some spark thing going on. yeah, i ship it! i'm behind it! i likeit a whole lot actually. might be up there with my faves.
dusekn7 is so fucking funny in my brain. replacement for whoever the pumpkin guy is???? potential for so much doomed stuff. on the more serious side, i cant personally see much chemistry here but i can see a good kind of friendship and vibe forming. but yes the doomed potential is so....... so interesting. definitely "i mumbled someone else's name while i was kissing you" vibe
ehhhh could never get behind hacknslash, sorry anon :-( im hands off until i actually watch the movie and figure out what the hell is going on with jason i need an appreciation for the lore

If there’s one thing you could change about the DMC story, what would it be?
Hmm.. theres not much story-wise i think i'd like to change, to me it feels pretty solid as-is. However there are a couple things.
First, i would have Credo survive. His death felt a bit useless to me. It serves no story purpose, after its all said and done its like Nero and Kyrie have just forgotten it entirely, and tbh there was really no reason to kill him off in the first place other than to further push the point that Sanctus was evil (which didnt need pushing.) He would be a background character in later entries much like Kyrie yes, but having him live i think wouldn't change the story at all compared to if he died. So better to have him live, i think.
Could also lead to future angst because of his "angel" form.
Second, Nero doesny regrow his arm back. I think its a little silly, and considering how much effort the devs put into the devil breaker system, i think it would make sense to have him keep the prosthetics. Making the devil-breakers attach with weird demon magic because he has his arm back seems cheap to me, again it would make more sense if Nero has to keep his devil breakers, to keep his missing arm. And, it gives some disability representation too.
Lastly, Kyrie's parents never canonically adopt Nero. They just take care of him and he stays at their place like a friend sleepover or whatever. That, or Kyrie and Nero stay just friends/adoptive siblings and Kyrie gets together with Nico.
Now what i would change in DMC as a whole?? i think it would have to be the erasure of more gothic/horror elements in the series over the years.
DMC 1 is my favourite game in the series because of the atmosphere and environment of the game, it wasn't scary of course being a hacknslash game but it did have this unsettling vibe in a lot of places i think works perfectly for DMC's supernatural and otherworldly settings.
All that was likely unintentional of course, it was just a by-product of the game beginning as RE4, but i really do wish all the more darker, creepy and weird elements seen in DMC 1 and even DMC 2/3 were carried on in later entries.
#Most of DMC's story is pretty solid to me#everything has a place and a purpose#and more importantly#a reason for being there in the first place#big props to the writers/directors for that#especially considering how long the series has gone on for#devil may cry#dmc#the herb speaks
