The Mod: Half Cyberware for V

I did not expect hostility over my Flat Chest mod, so I'll half acknowledge it and kill some of the assumption before they take roots in other people's minds

No, I did not make this mod *because* I refuse to support Na's flat chest mod

Initial Mod idea was a working "binder" for Fem, something you'd equip to flatten the chest- like a real life binder, basically. It's part of my To-Do list of June, for Pride

The mod evolved as I got more ideas, I also started working on a body replacer, it's basically ready to ship as well, but I decided against it; not to step on toes and causing confusion with two "flat chest" body mods, knowing there is also another one in the work from a fellow modder

(the binders themselves will come much later, and will be available for both fem and masc body frames!)

Again, the mod started as a "binder"- I mentioned it multiple times, either in servers where I started sharing the idea, and in the tags of my mod post

"Binders" are not costumes. They are gender affirming aid, something a lot of person use; I've made a couple of "wearable" / "switchable" body parts mods in the past already, including a trans masc vagina, I really hope you don't see this as a costume as well?

In the universe of Cyberpunks, implants and synth skin are used by everyone, for all kind of purpose; GNC people, trans people and gender-fluid people would probably use implants and cyberware to sculpt themselves, feel comfortable in their body

Who's to say some rich citizen wouldn't have some fancy switchable body pieces- hell it's even canon in game, Mr.Stud and Mrs.Midnight? Switchable boobs are already a thing, I don't see what's wrong with switching up for a flatter chest

The survey's results aren't out yet, so I couldn't know. But that's beside the point, as my mod isn't a "bandaid" for any issue this fandom may have

If the name is causing trouble, I'm open to changing it; but the main goal, again, was to flatten the vanilla fem V chest, and I think "flat chest" is pretty straight forward for nexus users

Everyone is different and handle their own space differently, and I do not want to support people who did me, or my friends, any serious mental health damage. Be it from harassement, witch hunt and whatnot

I won't be dragging in there old drama from 2 years ago, but I simply won't support someone who tried to get a friend of mine fired from their work place, threatening to send a 30+ pages google doc to their leads and boss, and dragging all of their personal beefs to the public on multiple social medias. They ruined my friend's mental health, and I simply won't forgive nor forget.

That is my right. And I wish people would accept and respect that.

I won't tell anyone who to support or what mod to use/not use, NOBODY should tell you what to do, what to support, who to like or dislike; and nobody can control who I must support and what I must do. Simple as that

And I'm glad the flat chest body mod exist for people who wish to use it! I'm offering another option that I'm sure some people will find useful

People already gave me trouble in the past for "doing work that already exist"

Those past few weeks has been eventful when it comes to "drama" especially involving Zwei, who's notorious for having a modding monopol and gatekeeping ideas in general

Let's not bring that same mindset here, yeah?

Everyone is free to mod what they want, whatever body they want, to refit what they want!

Again, just to point it out, mod isn't there to fix a problem, that's just a mod I wanted to make

It's a brand new mod, meaning it needs refiting; I did not test the flat chest bodymod, nor tried the already existing vanilla refit. And I won't, for the reasons I cited aboved a few lines before.

I'm glad you agree! Nobody has to do things they don't want to

You call it disingenuous, and I call it having principles/self respect; again, crazy how different people are from one another, and how we just can't assume everyone work and react the same as we do

I see, I see, the name is a big issue; I'm open to suggestion, feel free to leave a reply and I'll see what catches my eyes

Cause It's still my mod, so I get to decide

“How are you feeling?”

Molly sits across from Caleb, and both hands, prosthetic and natural, lay in Caleb's outstretched palms atop his knees. Molly flexes the natural one easily enough, but the other is in a tight fist, and he's frowning at it, seemingly frustrated.

At Essek's prompting, he looks up, and it takes him another moment or two to focus his gaze on Essek’s face proper, who stands in the doorway, his own hands clasped together anxiously. Essek is patient and steady as he can, and even if his heart aches for him, he sequesters that away to a private place. He would hate to seem anywhere near pitying of him.

“I'd love to say I'm right as rain, but that is not quite the case.” Molly tries for a smile but it doesn't quite reach his eyes and falls too quickly, and he ends up revealing instead how tired he is.

“Uhm... I'm still numb in some places, and in others, it hurts. And I can't stop twitching since yesterday. This hand,” and he gestures to his left, the mechanical one, “Has been locked in a fist since last night. It usually takes a few hours to unlock on its own, but it seems to be stuck this time.”

Molly's left arm has been jerking intermittently, a clearly uncontrollable motion that shifts his whole body and translates all the way down to his clenched hand, and seems to be bringing him some distress, and pain.

Caleb's eyes follow the motion and turn a shade more somber, though he secrets that away swiftly while Molly is turned around. Essek can almost see Caleb's heart take a tumble and break into pieces as Molly speaks, as upset as he himself feels. Caleb's circuitry scarred hands squeeze Molly’s lightly, then return to their former position where they cupped them.

Essek can't help but feel utterly awful. After all, he's the one that did this to him.

He recalls with a pang the distressed message Caleb had sent him, then Jester's, begging for his help to save their friend, Mollymauk. He'd met the tiefling in passing, finding a chaotic and colorful being who never stayed in one place for long enough for Essek to parse him out properly.

A few days after the Message, the entire Mighty Nein appeared at his doorstep. When they ensured Essek's lab was secure, Caleb fetched what was left of their dear friend's bloody, mangled body from an Amber Vault – a digital, portable safe– and handed that over to Essek, alongside a memory drive that had Molly's mind uploaded to it in a combination of efforts by Caleb and Caduceus.

Essek had been terrified at the responsibility inherent in saving such a precious person's life, but he had done his best to focus on the cybernetics puzzle at hand and to take the anxiety out of his mind. There was no room for mistakes or missteps.

He was successful, much to his relief, and his friends’ collective joy.

The tears and yells as Molly had opened his eyes for the first time rang clear in his memory. The tiefling had startled, covered his ears, and ran from the room– only to collapse in a heap a few steps into the next one.

It wasn't an unexpected sign of failure by any means– the collapse, that is, not the fleeing– after all, Mollymauk’s body was half machine now, and it had yet to be calibrated and tested properly. More specifically, it was costly, state-of-the-art cyberware mods and prosthetics, provided for free of course, connecting what of his ravaged body Essek and his team could salvage.

As a scientist who'd lived through the last hundred and twenty some years watching the world and its technologies develop at an alarming pace, he'd slowly grown more and more doubtful of the ethics of the now normalized practice of cyber modification, or ‘cybermods’. It's even worse that his current patient– ward, friend, whatever their odd relationship now was– hadn't been able to consent to these operations at all.

It made Essek hate himself just a little bit more, made him doubt his work– political and scientific– his family, their wealth, their entire society, his everything, even more deeply, despite how thankful all his friends, and Molly, were in the aftermath of that incident.

“Essek?”

Molly's voice has now taken on a subtle digital tone to it due to his voice-box being modded, and in addition, he sounds… lost, exhausted. Nothing like the person he once was.

Essek tries not to wallow right now. That can be for later, when he's done his job and is alone once again.

“My apologies. Just thinking.”

He goes to them. A person he is helping take care of needs his care right now. He has a function to serve, and that is the priority.

Chloe Curious (Singles) in Night City

Chloe was tired of sharing with her sister and two other roomates Erin and Kristen "in the middle of bumfuck nowhere" as Johnny would put it... so she ditched Strangetown in the badlands to be a merc in night city, making her money and just having fun vibing. She loves a good party night with her chooms from the Mox. She is also relieved to be away from that idiot neighbour Buzz Grunt who has it out for aliens and kept trying to get approval for them to be locked up in Division 47. Her green skin barely goes noticed in Night City, most simply think it's some cool dermal implant cyberware and same goes for her "kiroshi" eyes so Chloe can finally just chill and be herself. Sure Night City smells a bit nasty but she's better off here. She misses her sister so she tries to convince her to come along and get a job out here instead, one of those fancy corpo jobs. She also spoke to her long lost half brothers and sister about coming out here. She figured her nerdy brothers would be interested in the tech here but figured Jenny wouldn't wanna leave her family to come along. Lazlo Vidcund and Pascal all told her they'd consider it after they "deal with some side-effects of stargazing" whatever gonk that means...

I've got some questions about your cyberpunk reader sagau idea like—

What exactly does Reader's body mods allow? Like, how do they enhance the body? Why abilities do they grant to reader? What limitations are there and do they limit Reader's in ways an organic body wouldn't

Before and during the hunt for Reader, how do they maintain their artificial components? Do any of them break beyond repair forcing reader to leave them behind?

Also the Reader having body mods for conquest is a great explanation for why it takes so fucking long for them to bleed. They're too fucking invincible to bleed unless they get done in real hard.

What do people like Dainsleif or Dottore's think of reader and their body mods? I mean the body mods were compared to Khaenri'ah's machinery and Dottore is Dottore.

Is anyone against hunting down Reader? If so, for what reasons?

These are some good questions but I haven't thought all of them through, but so far:

1. When writing the first idea, I imagined the reader being a bit like militech version of Adam Smasher, with bits of my own V from cyberpunk 2077 mixed in i.e. 60-70% of the body being converted to metal with only the head and chest organ area mostly fleshy. So the reader would be durable AF, capable of shrugging off a couple of blows from the archons assuming they didn't use elemental powers, incredible strength and speed, increased jump height and other combat mods like mantis blades or rocket launchers.

2. As for limitations; cyberpsychosis would be the main problem because of just how many mods they have. From a more physical side — blending in is damn near impossible, and all that cyberware is heavy, so it's going to be a challenge not waking up half of teyvat when going for a walk and swimming would also be difficult/our of the question as you'd just sink to the bottom.

Also, the electro element would be quite dangerous, as any attack would act like an EMP blast which could short-circuit important life-preserving systems.

2.5. currently I'm also headcannoning that the combat cybermods require A Lot of energy, and if you don't have that, the body will forcefully shut down for like 72h to generate energy, regardless of where you are...

3. I haven't thought about mods breaking, but I think the reader might be able to MacGyver old Khaenri'ahn tech to replace broken/lost pieces, though it wouldn't be a perfect match — like wearing boots two sizes too small. Before the hunt the reader really wouldn't need to do that, as their tech is durable as all hell and would have only needed cleaning once in a while.

4. Dottore, as a scholar, would be incredibly intrigued. He didn't believe in the divine, though he acknowledged their existence, but the reader would be something else... Like the pinnacle of human evolution, the seamless blending of flesh and steel would entrance him past the point of obsession. He may have enough self-control not to try and disassemble the reader, but be prepared for days worth of ceaseless questions, and his experiments would only grow more gruesome and brutal if you do not put a stop to it.

As for Dainslief... He would be conflicted. The reader's body would remind him too much of the horrors Khaenri'ah and it's leader inflicted on others, and of the war machines still wreaking havoc across Teyvat. But the reader bearing similarities to said machines, which once protected his home, protected him, would also make him feel...comfort? Idk how to describe it, but it's like the feeling of knowing someone is looking out for you, even when you have lost everything.

5. As for who's against the hunt; Barbados comes to mind because he too is an impostor and would be a hypocrite if he felt otherwise, though he keeps such thoughts to himself.

Nahida because she is connected to Teyvat so deeply that it's feelings would mingle with her own, and she couldn't shake the wrongness she feels when near the Impostor.

Alhaitham too, but his is more logical deduction; why would a creator try to fit into the standards made by their creations? It's utterly foolish to base their belief off an imagined appearance when it is your actions they should see.

Also the harbingers and the Tsaritsa, but those I'd say are pretty obvious as they seek to destroy Celestia, and a betrayed creator seems like the perfect rallying call.

This first pic is meh ... but it's his first one. I wanted a corpo, as Vanessa is streetkid and Virgile nomad. A not so nice but fancy one. I succeed i guess. I kept most of his feature : blue eyes, Tyger Claws tattoos, black cyberarms, black fancy clothes. He had gorilla arm, but remove for Takemura hand, changed his face cyberware for something stronger And now he has Atlas body (a) wasn't convinced for it, so i just tried and ... oof, grumpy boy wins some sexyness !

He was just random lovely guy at first ! This hair was a mod, before cdpr dropped it in CC, it inspired me to create Vanessa's ex, without knowing he will be my fav himbo ♥ The face, the hair, vitiligo and golden arm are already there ! I just found him this neat style, living his own life on Pacifica. This boy grew up so much. Kala's tattoos, i changed his eyes to prettier ones, love his yellow sunglasses as accessories. He's now ace, DJ, has some friends (tall friendo Vinniiiiie) ... and even this pic isn't the last one, it's my fav of him. His smile, his look, i didn't set up light, that's only Pacifica sunset and aaaaaaaah ! love it ♥♥

Look this baby !!!!!! I knew Virgile had a brother, and when i made his npv, i really wanted to create Enzo. Based on Virgile's preset, i did some differences as they're half-brother, but share the same nose for example. He had long hair in bun and ... idk, looks like a baby. Then i lost most of my presets, and i redid with some pics i had, and changed things. Actual Enzo isn't exactly the same, but what a glow up ! He was cute, he is HOT ! I changed his hair, i prefer the new ones, as their complexion and body mods. I custom his body with new tattoos and i'm still working on his hands, he has some burn scars on it ...

Now that time is supposedly more available & flexible for most of the 2nd half of this year, I am FINALLY getting really jazzed about Cyberpunk 2077 in general, including a few things from the (now long ago) 1.6 patch that reference Edgerunners (the amount of Adult Responsibilities in my life was a fucking nightmare from Aug 22 until late Spring of this year), and playing/spec'ing my characters (all my Vs) far more purposefully and strategically from the moment I first touch the character creation screens and onward. And mods-- obviously-- with a focus on VP.

Realizing a few more things after spending last night watching YouTube vids of all sorts of craftily spec'ed Vs doing their thing during missions.

When I initially played CP2077 on PS5, despite enjoying it SO MUCH and having way too much fun, my V was very much a blunt weapon who tried to be all strategy and tactics (because I love tactical play after engaging in slow reconnaissance), my build was very ad-hoc -- too much of a jack of all trades, master of none.

I think console play on normal difficulty made me care less about spec'ing in a purposeful manner. Most of that comes from not really wanting to read lots of text (lol) when playing a console game with tiny text that looks far better up close on PC but it also comes from console gaming being a more social act in my house -- thus gameplay becomes a bit more spontaneous and entertainment-focused -- plus all of that "first time through a complex game" syndrome while wanting to see and collect all the things.

But now? Now that I have actually taken time to make sense of different builds, and finally (lol, I'm slow) taking the time to learn the real differences between weapon types (facepalm) plus find out about equipment and weapons I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WERE IN THE GAME (monowire, the sandevistan OS, etc) --- oh the possibilities. Also, some of the other cyberware I was only vaguely aware of now intrigues.

Well, I want to re-spec my nomad V (and my corpo V) and accidentally at least one streetkid suddenly asked to come into existence (like I have the time, lol, well, ahahah, I need fun in my life and fun that provides creative fuel is even better).

I am still sorting out who gets what and how it will shape headcanon.

I sort of feel like, idk, that sense of after having a mild crush for a long while but then, suddenly, not only do the stars align but I fall head of heels, lol.

Also, I miss having and once again need to have a fandom obsession in my life. The past bunch of (too many) years weren't kind. I need to be back in the sort of Creativity-Exploding-Everywhere headspace that fandom gave me from 2007-2014.

And I'm making it so.

(also, with brand new custom-ordered laptop being overpowered and thus much better as my all around work machine, the gaming machine is now only a gaming machine and has been moved out of my office and is upstairs in the writing nook so it will be used FOR gaming and my office is now only for work, which is SO MUCH BETTER).

(fwiw, I'm still planning on returning to writing ff7 fanfic -- monsters headcanon -- and also have some DA meta in the works with a casual DA2 playthough happening yet again. plus random indie games and visual novels and other such queued up too.)

All I know is that fandom creativity begets OTHER creativity and I need that river of OTHER creativity to flow so prioritizing fandom once again is also, very much, a strategic decision in addition to being a good+fun decision. ;)

I spent like an hour and a half in a character creator (better than sims, highly recommend) and every single tattoo still sucks. i really should get my hands on the mods bc it's outrageous how the graphics are so good and the accessories (piercings, tattoos, sometimes even hair, cyberware, even the eyes) are so bad. you expect me to use some lame quote about "ruin the rich, push the comfortable" for a Corvo V? what were the devs thinking when creating it?

Progress on the Half Cyberware mod:

- All Vanilla options for Fem V are done, plus variations on Cyberware 4- for the first 10 skintones, on Morphtarget Slot 1.

- All Vanilla options for Masc V are done, plus variations on Cyberware 4- for the first 10 skintones, on Morphtarget Slot 1.

Still to do:

- Find a way to custom path meshes so I don't have to repeatedly copy paste, and can therefore streamline the process and finish up the mod faster.

(Nora has kindly offered their help to figure this out; shout-out to them and Edith for their help so far)

- For Both Vs, skintones 11 and 12; they are the darkest 2 skintones and there is apparently a bit of a variation to the colours in order to accommodate the darker tones.

- For Both Vs, the remaining 9 Morphtarget Slots; for maximum customisation options.

- See if any cyberware recolour mods work with my mod.

Time scale: Hopefully will be able to release this mod in about 2 weeks.

Future Plans for Half Cyberware:

- The hidden cyberwares in the files, like Sandra's cyberware.

- Custom cyberware I plan to make myself.

Not gonna lie, it seems to grow into a stronger and stronger vibe of Cyberpunk/Solarpunk every time I add something in there. Maybe I could provide more information about the less... dystopian and more suburb/rural side of the world eventually. Especially as I am still figuring out the exact details of the overhead map and other miscellaneous details to give ourselves much space to breathe away from such... dark or restrictive tropes. (I mean, I call for a nicer and more comforting vibe future world without sacrificing too much familiarity or 'personalization', so that's why I would need to tweak this emerging situation before it becomes too close to recent shared universes like idk, Cyberpunk 2077, Halo & Half-Life franchises.)

Btw, when (not just if) you got any suggestions, comments or criticism to share, I am welcoming such big time because I am getting closer and closer to some first milestone to reach some MVP shareware demos and I appreciate feedback so much. Mostly because it is not just a world for myself as far as I am aware, it is one I share with the rest of you (the current worldly context is not that horrendous all things considered but I don't trust quality change to occur by itself without some additional incentives... hence why I share it to serve as a refeuge and a sampler of what we could do better) and also manifest at least bits of it somewhat.

For the potion bags, well, in addition to things like AM2 mana potions which are technically food, there's the nonfunctional potions from a few mods it's handing out.Ĭould we get the ability to create our own bag types? I can think of a few offhand which could alternately be implemented. There is a config option to adjust the dungeon spacing, if you turn this down, dungeons and towers will spawn closer to one another, there is a separate setting for ships but it works the same way.Ĭould we get the ability to add/remove items to the book and potion bags? We're looking to among other things add the documentation from other mods, blank books, paper and parchment, magic scrolls, and other similar sundries. (Fun Fact) I did also consider adding something along the lines of a flintlock pistol or a musket, but that ultimately became the potshot. Have you got any suggestions to bridge this gap? Or were you just suggesting bows with different materials for the variety? Such as the slingshot uses a verity of items for ammo. Part of the reason I added the slingshot and the potshot was because it gave you a ranged alternative to the bow, that did something different. Obviously, a golden bow would have lower durability but more enchantability, in line with vanilla materials. I had previously considered more bows, but other than more durability I couldn't think of a good reason to add, for example, an iron bow. (Also is there a way to modify the generation rates of the structures in the config file?) Other then that I feel that this mod is perfect for a small vanilla-based dungeon-crawling modpack.

O.k while I myself am not a big fan of ranged weapons I do feel that this mod lacks a bit in the ranged weapon department, thus I'm suggesting that you should add in some bows that are reinforced with vanilla materials (stone, iron, gold, diamond, possibly also guilded and bejeweled versions plus modded) You will need to unzip the file, then just follow the tutorial for where to put it. I have already structured it and reduced the potion fish chance by half for you. I have gone ahead and done the loot table for you - Loot Table

There is a tutorial on how to do so, HERE This is not particularly difficult to do, but can be somewhat daunting the first time. There is not currently a config to adjust the chance of getting a potion fish, though I will add that to the next update, if you like.įor now though, you can adjust the loot tables using the vanilla method. So I absolutely get where you are coming from. Glad to hear you are enjoying the mod, and I totally understand what you mean about loot tables - without getting off topic, the more mods you run, adding their own loot to the mix, the worse the problem gets. Is there a way to reduce or change the frequency to which one catches a potion fish vs a regular fish? The consensus in our world is that its nice and all but it is also eating into the loot table for getting things like books, saddles, and other goodies. So you can imagine there was a lot of fishing going on. It's relatively random with how much fish it takes to tame your dragon (some can get quite greedy!). In that mod you need fish to tame the dragon. We run this mod in conjunction with another mod called Dragon Mounts. My family is really enjoying this in our homeworld. I wanted to start by saying thank you for your time in making this mod.

i don’t know how i feel about showing you guys my first early drawings of him from February since i was just starting to learn how to draw people and not just some animals, but let me tell you this man was  u g l y 😭

I don’t have any screenshots of his first design other than those two photos I’ve taken of my screen to show my friends. When I tell you I was so proud of this man and thought that I made him look so good. 🤢 Yikes, not any more babes, look at you, disgust.

So at this stage, before the whole “V craze” (affectionately) started, and before I too became more invested in him and putting some effort into his lore, etc, he looked like an emo version of the V from the Cyberpunk 2077 trailers. Basically, I took the pre-made face setting, didn’t mess with them too much, and just changed his hair color to black, and for some reason got rid of the beard bc I thought the stubble would be more visible? Added some scars and tats and gave him inverted black and white cat eyes. Why did I think it was a good idea, I don’t know.

In conclusion:

I had to crop the image here bc it’s would be a crime for me to show you his face. 😭 Basically he’s a skinny-ass twink here. I don’t remember whether it was my initial intention (probably not, I think I just couldn’t draw more bulkier, muscular bodies quite right yet). Wanted him to have sleeve tattoos, but I was too lazy to actually design them so I just took some off google and pasted them over his arms 🤢 literal CRIMe, like what- 

At first, I envisioned him to be wearing tight vinyl lace-up pants (the same lace-up detail that Alt has). As for now I really don’t see him wearing any PVC clothing.

He still rocks his Valentinos “V” neck tattoo and it was really hard to draw, so I’m glad I changed that later.

Also, buzzcuts are so fricking hard to draw without making the character look bald. 🤡

I managed to find some gifs of him that I made. I changed his eyes from the cat ones to those with white irises and stuck with them for a while. Changed his body tattoo for a snake. Mods weren’t really that popular and I didn’t know how to mod the game so I just did what I could with the pre-set options.

April, 2021

Here we fucking go. The first actual art piece/reference of him that I posted that still doesn’t look half bad even after all this time (and that’s saying something). This was how I imagined him to actually look, but I couldn’t really recreate that vision in the Cyberpunk character creator. The face (especially the jaw) is not perfect now that I look at it, but he still looks much better than the first sketches of him.

Added the steel jaw plates that I saw on one of the NPC in Lizzie’s Bar.

Changed his tattoo to this abstract design and got rid of his sleeve tattoos.

Here you can see he has a neck cyberware. Initially, it was supposed to be a voice-box regulator since he was writing and singing his own songs in his youth, so when he had enough money got this as his first cyberware, bc at that time he believed he’d make a career out of it. He didn’t, obvi, look at him killing people for fun money.

Added some scars on him, freckles, and beauty marks. The ones on his forehead arrange into a Serpens constellation. I don’t tend to draw them anymore bc they’re super annoying to place, I don’t ever remember where to put them so I just ignore them lol.

Made his hair a tad bit longer, just so they’d be easier for me to draw. 

But this haircut wasn’t really cutting it (no put intended) and sometimes he just looked like-  🤡

Also here you can also see three spikes on his upper cartilage - i got rid of those piercings bc I kept forgetting to draw them

Now, it was when my V got quite a bit of attention. It’s my most liked (i think) art of him with over 100 likes which was so fucking crazy for me at that time (and still is! Thank you!)

Redesigned his eyebrows, made them more thicker and pronounced - now they’re a key element of his design I always have to get the right shape of them, which tends to be quite a hassle at times, but I think I got used to drawing them now. Gave him some more piercings - a vertical labret, nose ring, and a stud.

I grew out his hair and swooped them back in a “swirly” manner idk. He kinda has a side part but it’s not visible most of the time. 

Here were some hairstyle alternatives for him, but now I just stick to the one on the left.

The cyber stitching on his forehead that can be seen in his earlier designs are actually from a hair transplant so his natural hair color isn’t actually black.

His natural hair color is red and on the far left, you can see me trying to design his old teen self and on the far right how he’d look in the future.

Below I tried messing with the Cyberpunk creator again for the sake of it. The picture on the right is the current version of him in the game and I hope the CDPR devs will add in an option for us to change our character’s appearance bc I really want to change his hair and beard but I don’t feel like completing the game for the 6th time lol.

And that leaves us with his current most recent design that I’m very happy with. Added shit ton of new piercings on his whole body (in total 40+). Got him some more face tatts and changed the arrangement of his ear piercings.

Not saying you have no reason to feel "bleh", sometimes the brain just insists, but there is so much character in the little snippets and commentary and photos you do. Even if they are similar to other people's (which is really hard not to do), they are so unique to themselves it's absolutely worth it.

Hopefully you're feeling better soon, and can find joy in creating and talking about your boys again ❤

Its late so I'm gonna kinda reply to this with what has been going on on my end and where this funk is coming from. Putting it under a read more to spare everyone, but first and foremost I do appreciate all of you beyond belief for reaching out and having such kind words to say. I know its just a me thing but sometimes it all does just get to me. With that being said, feel free to ignore the whole next bit.

I 100% understand and accept its never going to be completely possible to make completely original characters, especially given the restricted format we have for CP2077. I wish we had more power to craft our characters, more like Fallout 4's character creator (which despite the game's flaws I still go back to just to make characters lol). The problem is I see Valor in game and these screenshots of him and while I do like how he looks... its not him. Not completely. His scars are wrong, he doesn't have his tattoos, hair isn't right, he's missing the ports on his body, and overall things just aren't 100% with him. But despite all that, 3rd time around I think he looks pretty good. Again though am limited to what the game allows so a part of me does get a bit offed when I see other ppls Vs that look a bit too similar. I know its just me, I don't take it to heart, its just upsetting reminder I can't make him look how he's supposed to. Same with Umbra, he looks nothing like how he looks in our TTRPG and it really hurts because I spent a long time making him with our GM and I can't show that. Its not possible in game and my art doesn't do him any justice. So it gets frustrating because I look at some of these guys and they're not my characters, just similar figures to them, but not them.

Which is really hard especially when it comes to Val because long ago he was a self insert that I used to project how I wanted to look. I Have never done well with identifying as trans, I don't like to glamorize it or be recognized for it. I'm saving up for chest surgery but I'm fucking terrified of having the scars. I just don't want to be associated and recognized with it after my transition just because it's been really rough to go through in general. I haven't enjoyed this journey at all really, and really wish I didn't have to go through it. Valor in the RPG was my way of coping and going through stuff. Instead of gender though it was his association with cyberware and having parts of his body and "humanity" removed, replaced with machine and wires. I don't project onto him as much as I once did but he still will and forever hold pieces of that history because that's how I made him.

With all that, all I really do have is my words. Part of the problem with that is there's literally years worth of lore. I've been playing the same campaign with the same group of friends since my freshman year of college. So like 6/7 years now? There's a lot. The issue is these are people I'm really good friends with. This game has become a kind of safe zone for us. We're all a bunch of artist that mainly specialized in horror content. We were part of a movie club that mainly watched horror movies. We're the bitches that watched the Saw series during our free hour in the school library, like we are chill. That also just kinda means there's a lot of dark and twisted subject matter that ends up in our games. Characters having experienced some fucked up shit, witnessed some fucked up shit, and have done some fucked up shit. Feel kinda weird posting or sharing some of the more dark things in detail. So end up watering them down and they don't always feel right.

Top of all that, I just don't have the time to do things I wanna do. I feel so goddamn pressured at home and like I should be doing more. I honestly don't know how half these people have the time to learn and do the amount of mods and edits they do. I'm not gonna lie, I'm envious of it. I get 8-10 hours of being yelled at by customers, and then I may or may not have an hour long drive to take my brother to work or pick him up some days, and then whatever my parents have going on. I want to get back into art, I want to learn 3D modeling, I want to learn how to properly mod but I'm usually so stressed out or just exhausted nothing sticks so I don't even bother really. It sucks, because I want to learn, I want to do things, but I can't. I feel like because I have so little private and personal time now if I can't get things quick enough its not worth the effort. Its frustrating but again that's all on me.

And in other news, lotta people around me are dying or have had family die do to COVID and other things. Earlier this year a close friend of mine lost her dad to COVID and she's still struggling with that. A family friend of ours died earlier this week at the age of 35 from unknown causes. I have another friend who is in the psych ward because he is once again dealing with mental stuff and wellness check did not turn up well. Round it all off, my grandpa has basically given up on his life as well, flat out saying there's nothing worth living for anymore. Given his health issues I know its only a matter of time until I'm saying my final goodbye to him as well. So its rough, and fucking sucks. Not much I can do about it, but it makes me feel fucking worse with my own depression and suicidal thoughts. I know I'd never act on the thoughts, but seeing how death effects those around me makes me feel fucking worse for even thinking about it.

The part that sucks the most about it all, and even something I've expressed to my therapist is I'm completely self aware that its all in my head. I know I can't control these situations, and that skills take time to be acquired and grow. I am so grateful for all friends and support I do have, here, on disco, irl, I see the kind words and love and it really means a lot. I feel like a horrible friend because I don't know what to do really. I know its in my head, and I know what I can and can't control. I know what I need to do, yet I don't feel any better. I feel worse, I feel like I'm distant, and dismissive. I feel like what content I am putting out is stale and boring. I just feel lost and I'm not sure what piece I'm missing to really get things going again. I love my characters, I love making stuff with them. I love the story arch I have for Val and Ker and I want to share all of that with you all. I just feel really weird.
