A design consisting of elements from sea slugs and horses.
Like slugs, they eat about anything, including carrion. And due to their size, they eat quite a bit. In some areas of the world, people revere these creatures as holy beings. They say the progenitor goddess of water took care of many Gastrolux in the distant past, as she loved them dearly. Descendants of the ones she cared for are highly valued.

Ijii protecting the Dinochraan kids from a beast that took them by surprise. All three of their designs have been slightly updated since this piece but I still love how the comic aesthetic turned out.

Side character from Halgaria.
Affiliation: Creationist, Wind User, Freelancer Gender: He/they (interchangeable, fine with either) Species: Human Age: 19 Height: ~5ft/152cm
"Banished from the capital monastery for his temper and drug use, Shura travels the world making a living as one of the fabled "wind artists." Unlike other artists, wind users are able to create particular markings and strokes seen nowhere else. Due to the elusive nature of their people, art from wind artists are incredibly valuable and sought after. Despite being homeless, Shura makes more than enough to get by - he could absolutely buy land and settle down if he wanted to, but he would rather enjoy the thrill of travel and painting new scenery. Loves a good nap."
"Normally very chill and laidback, but if he loses his temper he erupts with catastrophic, unbridled energy. Unable to control himself, he will leave behind large craters in his wake. People who stumble upon them believe only a Destroyer could do such damage. Other than the capital incident, no one has seen him lose his temper. Locals will be on the hunt for the "crater maker" while unknowingly inviting him into their villages."
"He wears traditional wind monk clothing with a few additions of his own. The faux tail feathers attached to the back are there for those who lack them. Bird faunim with their own feathers are not required to use the attachment. All monks wear this clothing to honor the legacy of Meariis the Wind Majesty, the progenitor goddess of the wind element. Her body remains at the capital as a self mummified statue to be worshipped."
Shura is a side character Crystal and the others will team up with down the line. They have a tamed Mudillo named Daisy who they travel with after the banishment. She carries their art supplies and other valuables. He always has a tired, bored look in his eyes. Originally he was an eagle faunim, but I needed more human characters to balance the cast out.

Creature design for a species in Halgaria. Their flesh and poisonous ooze is used for medicine, but the path to their habitat has become dangerous in recent times.
Due to the increased amount of raids on villages, there's a high demand for a special medicine that can heal people significantly faster - usually reserved for warriors or high ranking officials. However, the high usage is making it low in supply. Desperate to not let it run out, the heroes are sent on a mission through a dangerous, dark forest that leads to a secluded body of water, Lake Seraiya.
This ancient lake is the only place where these creatures live. The proteins found in their skin are the source of the medicine. The paths to the lake used to be much less dangerous in the past, but in recent times Destroyers have been taking over the forest to claim its resources for their plans.
Their wings are tipped with a strong poison. When agitated they flap their wings in front of them and poisonous globs get flung at their targets. They also naturally heal very quickly, due to the protein. Dealing with the poison, on top of them healing quickly, make them very difficult to take down.
They are plentiful population wise due to their seclusion. Both their flesh and poison are harvested and put to use by both Creationists and Destroyers.

Concept art of one of the creature designs for Halgaria called a Mudillo.
I mixed some elements between a buffalo, armadillo, elephant, and rhino. I also included some related items. They're the most common livestock creature for their leather/armor, horns, milk, meat & fur. They're very strong too; they carry a lot of supplies on their backs and pull wagons. The name comes from (moo + armadillo). You see them a lot in villages and farms. They roam in herds in the wild and are typically found in grassy plains. This is a basic example of Mudillo armor; fancier versions include their horns added on the shoulder plates. Their leather is very rugged, tough, and bumpy. It's a very accessible armor; a lot of poorer communities have access to this, so they're not totally defenseless.

One of the main characters from Halgaria - Spirit Pursuit, a personal project/story of mine. Crystal, also known as Kris, is a charismatic martial arts novice who utilizes the element of Light, which allows the user to create barriers around themselves, toughen their exterior, manipulate bodily attributes, and much more. She is the last remaining Light user in Halgaria, and the unprecedented descendent of the goddess of Light - who disappeared long ago. Her discovery kickstarts a timeline of events that will determine the fate of the world. Her smile and positive aura is enough to disarm the cruelest of foes. She is known as a "Faunim," a race of human-like beings with animalistic features. The type of animal and amount of body parts vary. She is a fictional species of animal called a Longtails, sort of a mix between a wolf and a lion. Humans exist alongside Faunim and Pobbles as Creationist Races (those who support the god of Creation, unlike the Destroyers) She sets out to train with the rest of the heroes to put an end to the Majesty War, and to regain Creationist control of the world. Awakened with a hazy memory, she fights alongside her friends to vanquish her ancestor's enemies, who have continued to ravage the world for generations. The story follows her journey of self discovery and uncovering secrets of the Destroyers, hoping to put an end to their tyranny. Together with her friends Ijii: the vagabond swordsman, Soulin: prince of the Flayyr kingdom, and Haley: the seductive superstar, they form The Pack, a powerful team of fighters tasked at quelling the presence of Destroyers in their disheveled world. Ijii is her main personal trainer, enforced by the Halgarian dojo master despite his protests. He is quite suspicious of her when they first meet, and often overdoes it with her exercises. At first she despises him, but they eventually become friends, even though Ijii hates to admit it. He's not good with feelings.  Although she can be decently fast, she's more of a defensive, strong, tank-like character - meant for taking the most hits and aggro.

Originally I was imagining something more scaly and reptilian, kinda like that red angler fish from the spongebob movie, but it evolved into this. Makes more sense in the environment I pictured it being in. Large open plains/forest areas.
It's mostly a subterranean creature, creates long underground tunnels. Intricate underground societies. Burrows up to the surface suddenly to catch prey off-guard. Carnivorous. 15 - 20ft (~5.5m) tall.

Sketched some Pobbles, one of the races of Halgaria. They were left unfinished during creation, leaving them without physical arms. To survive, their spirits forcefully erupted from their bodies, and can shape-shift them to a certain degree. Typically associated with the Creationists (those who fight for the god of Creation), alongside Humans and Faunim, some Destroyer civilizations capture and utilize them for their specific skills - so they can be associated with either side of the war. Pobble soldiers use saw or drill shields to push their targets, using a weapon of choice in the other hand to finish the job. They can stretch their arms forward a good amount, which are impervious to physical attacks, making them more useful in battle than one may think. The unfortunate truth is that they aren't respected as much as other "human-like" races. They are usually sent out on the front lines by force due to their usefulness, and as a result many of them die. Many people fight for their equality to end this practice. As mentioned before, they can also fly as long as they hold their breathe. Their villages are usually built high off the ground to avoid dealing with monsters. From an early age they are taught to fly so they can navigate their homes. Halgaria Folder: www.deviantart.com/lexitoons/g…

The god of Creation in the Halgarian universe, rivaling the Destroyer. The most accepted interpretation of the god is a glowing, humanly figure with bright wings and four arms. The spheres of the elements float around their head.
This is just a sketch so stuff is subject to change.

Professor Kabu is known as a Pobble - they are a race of little fuzzy creatures in Halgaria. When the Creator and Destroyer restarted the universe, the idea of Pobbles were unfinished. It was a joint effort between the two gods when creating them, and due to their bickering the project was left to the wayside. Born with with no physical arms, their spirits erupt from small patches of fur on their sides. Their spirits vary in color as with anybody, so you'll get a variety of different pobbles.
They are able to hold their breathe and fly like Kirby when they flap their arms. Their villages are often in high locations, so monsters can harm them less often due to their size. While they may be small, they can be fierce warriors. Pobbles were the inventors of the "saw-shield" variety of weapons. They are able to stretch their spirit arms forward, pushing enemies out of the way with the shield while simultaneously doing damage. While the enemies are pushed back, they can swing at enemies with their other arm using a weapon of their choice.
Professor Kabu is a retired warrior who has killed many destroyers that posed threats to villages. He now works as an educator at the Halgarian Dojo teaching amateur warriors proper battle tactics. Ijii has failed countless times in Kabu's Tactics 1 class. He may be a "senior" in grade status but he's stuck in this freshman class. He has a hard time working with others and Kabu ain't putting up with his bullshit. It makes it worse when eventually Crystal joins his class, further distracting him out of annoyance.

He still doesn't have a name yet, but his job is to monitor King Monochraa, reporting to the higher ups making sure he's following their orders. Evil and snarky, makes you just wanna kick him - but Monochraa must resist for the sake of his people. He was threatened that if he were to disobey orders, the higher ups would send soldiers down to his territory to kill them all. Under a lot of pressure. What could he be hiding? What is he keeping secret from the higher ups? You'll find out in like 10 years probably lol.

"Strider and Skitter are known as Dinochraa, an enemy race capable of transforming into dinosaur-like beasts. They're unusually kind, almost human-like in nature, unlike the rest of their people due to some tragic circumstances. They're around 8 - 10 years old and full of energy. Despite their origins the heroes welcome them to the team, although others are still cautious of them."

Initial concept of the Sygnaa Clan race of Destroyers in Halgaria.
"One of the various Destroyer races in Halgaria. Sygnaa are large, dependable soldiers known for their masonry and near impenetrable skin - making them excellent vanguards. They are brutal, jaunty, and delight in the massacre of their enemies."
