Jorgen’s usually not the one in charge of assigning godchildren. There’s an entire department that weighs and classifies potentail Godkids to the right Fairy. Although it’s on strike at the moment.

So Jorgen has to do it by hand, until the union negotiations are resolved. Turns out trying to use paperclips is very hard. Itty bitty paperclips. Big muscular biceps. Not a good combo.

The space program took a whole month off of development after Tektite's accident, so that Slate could have the time to perfect their leg. They'd already been working on articulated flaps for in-atmosphere steering for Feldspar's ship - conserves fuel to not use jets for that - and hey, an artificial ankle is just another type of flap to articulate, right?

Gossan wasn't so sure - especially with Slate's full-tilt approach to experimental engineering, at odds with Tektite's trepidation - but all of the founders agreed that the program could wait until their neighbour was back on their feet. And to Slate's credit, Gossan had never seen them show as much sheer methodical focus, before or since. This was somebody's limb here, after all: their ability to move of their own accord, their ability to get out and about in the community and do the things they love, their ability to still feel like their body is their own. Slate was hardly about to phone it in, or risk any wild experiments when it came to Tektite's comfort and requirements.

It took several iterations, and several difficult test walks around the town square gripping Slate's arm, but together the pair of them worked out a final model that's been serving Tektite well to this day.

(...Of course, the dedication and focus that so pleasantly surprised Gossan only made Slate's awkward avoidance of them after their own accident sting even more. Was it really that hard on their poor guilty conscience, to think about doing something similar for a friend, instead of darting their gaze away just short of Gossan's face?)

Alastor would love to have a computer because while he still thinky vinyl is the superior medium for music he can't deny that it's more effective to have a digital music library.

He could also built a computer easily, the hardware is no problem for him.

Unfortunately he stopped keeping up with programming in the 60ies, there was just so much going on. And now he can't get any software that is not in some way connected to Vox he doesn't want to admit it, because he's the radio demon, this frivolous digital technology is beneath him, but there is a little part of him that is pissed about it.

Definitely pissed.

And in no way whatsoever melancholic, reminiscing of a past when he and Vox would build them together, Alastor working on the hardware and Vox doing the software.

A past where such actions were meant to be a pleasant hobby, a nice way to pass the time and not a commitment to an unreliable lifestyle that chained itself to whatever new trend arose.

No, he could never miss this old flight of fancy. But he can admit, that he misses the old Vox. His old chum used to be a nice company rather than a persistent annoyance.

In light of the David Sneddon Podcast, I dug up an old slideshow I made when I first found out about those registered songs. I made little mood boards for each one (including some other unreleased songs like Pretender and Halfway Home). Essentially, I pondered what the sonics and lyrical content could be about and gathered photos and gifs of Louis that I thought matched the tone. I do not agree with everything I have written here (honestly, what was I thinking with Halfway Home; Placebo is ugly; and Looks Like Lucy is much more likely to be about something romantic/sensual than family), but I think it could be fun for other louies to look at. Emilion von Valancius everybody. the voidship's local older butch who got out of sanctioning about a month and a half ago, did a week in the militarum where she mostly started trying to set up contraband trading, then got brought in by theodora.

she lived on a forge world and spent most of her time fixing things that were below tech priests focus [shes who you call in to fix your printer or change a lightbulb if you dont want a 5 month wait for a moderately pissed off tech priest to walk in beep at you then walk out] so she knows her way around a reasonable amount of tech and considering she isnt adding to pasqal's stress [destroying things] he'll tolerate it. she also keeps calling abelard a cute young man [he is older than her fyi and she's gay shes not interested, but she holds both points are still true] and he gets this mild polite little blush every time

i feel like the ancients in frontiers bother me but im having a hard time pinning down the exact specifics of it. i don't think i have a problem with them being an alien ancient civilization, but the execution of them feels kind of. generic. beyond the implied connection to chaos that is. the echidnas were portrayed as warmongering and power hungry, likely due to their leadership, and they have an interesting position as a part of knuckles' heritage when knuckles is in several ways the exact opposite of their ideals - a peaceful guardian who seeks to preserve and not to conquer. the ancients in boom were left vague due to the dev hell and the repeat rewrites of the story, but in some ways it does them favors i'd say. they are a looming presence upon bygone island, their history scattered about and left to be rediscovered. supposedly a peaceful society sans lyric, who was able to cause havoc and destruction perhaps because the rest of his people did not have something like an army to fight back immediately. lyric was the only one who had any sort of ties to military concepts. the cartoon gives the ancients impressive technology, but i can't recall it being too much more than just fun machines whose primary purposes were along the lines of transportation and entertainment. i think those sort of implications make the ancients more interesting than they perhaps could've been if they were given some kind of obvious and explicit military history.

the frontiers' ancients feel like some kind of unsuccessful middle ground of those concepts i think? we are directed to see them as the peaceful underdogs while they also have a massive military presence and horrific tools of war that we fight directly over the course of the game, that we Require super sonic to bring down. i understand that at least some of that arsenal was built to fight the end, but then you juxtapose that advanced and destructive technology with the seemingly rural architecture littering the islands that, unlike the titans, has rotted and decayed in the face of nature. is that not supposed to speak of their priorities as society? or were their stay at the islands always supposed to be temporary? but then why build something like the cyberspace which is very much connected to the islands themselves?

i don't know maybe im missing something, maybe i've been thinking about the portrayal of military forces in sonic too hard lately, it just bothers me that the ancients are simultaneously supposed to be both a competent and strong military presence which the DLC only amplifies, and a peaceful society that would never even think about doing anything other than defend themselves with that destructive military they've built for themselves

Hmmm... I definitely have searched some bizarre topics, but for some reason they aren't coming to mind at the moment, so ill just go with some I've been actively researching! :P

Research on various reptiles body parts (among other things) has probably been the weirdest. I'm trying to get an idea of dragon biology (you can probably figure out why) and how much certain parts are worth.

Its been genuinely interesting but its lead me to some...weird (and probably illegal) sites. I'm probably on a list somewhere now lmao. But hey! I know a lot about reptiles now!

I really hope Ramon gets a big moment during this egg missing arc where he's the one who manages to open some barrier that let's the parents access where the eggs are, or something similar. He was the first to leave a message and the first to provide coordinates to the first photo, as well as a new structure. He's super smart so it would be cool if he had a main character moment where his inventions or knowledge are what makes it possible for the islanders to rescue the eggs.
