the maternushaus in cologne's old town is an interesting building because it combines elements of post-war modernism and post-modernism. it also always reminds me a little of northern germany in its clinker brick design. that is rather rare here in the Rhineland.

Lorda Este mes de agosto se publica en la revista Environment International un estudio sobre la presencia de metales y elementos afines en los tampones de varias marcas, un producto que potencialmente usan millones de personas cada mes. Los resultados confirman que pueden contener metales tóxicos como plomo (Pb), arsénico (As) y cadmio (Cd). Los tampones son especialmente preocupantes como posible fuente de sustancias químicas como estas, ya que la piel de la vagina tiene una mayor capacidad de absorción que la de otras partes del cuerpo. Además, los productos son usados de manera mensual por un gran porcentaje de la población. Entre el 50 y el 80 % de quienes menstrúan, usan tampones durante varias horas al día. “A pesar de esta gran preocupación potencial para la salud pública, se ha hecho muy poca investigación para medir los químicos en los tampones”, expresa la autora principal Jenni A. Shearston, investigadora de la Universidad de California en Berkeley. La investigación, en la que también han participado las universidades estadounidenses de Columbia y la Estatal de Michigan, es la primera que mide los metales en tampones. “Con preocupación, encontramos concentraciones de todos los metales que analizamos, incluidos algunos tóxicos como el arsénico y el plomo”, recalca Shearston, quien aclara a SINC que su estudio, de momento, “no demuestra si estos metales pueden salir de los tampones o si pueden ser absorbidos por el cuerpo o contribuir a algún efecto sobre la salud”.   Potenciales peligros de los metales Se sabe que los metales pueden aumentar el riesgo de demencia, infertilidad, diabetes y cáncer. También dañar el hígado, los riñones y el cerebro, así como los sistemas cardiovascular, nervioso y endocrino. Además, pueden perjudicar la salud materna y el desarrollo fetal. “Aunque los metales tóxicos son ubicuos y estamos expuestos a niveles bajos en cualquier momento, nuestro estudio muestra claramente que los metales también están presentes en los productos menstruales, y que las mujeres podrían estar en mayor riesgo de exposición al usar estos productos”, declara la coautora Kathrin Schilling, profesora de la Universidad de Columbia. Un tampón separado en sus componentes: (A) la cubierta exterior no tejida, (B) el hilo de extracción, (C) el núcleo absorbente interior, (D) el aplicador y (E) el envoltorio. / Universidad de Berkeley Cuantificación de 16 metales Los investigadores evaluaron los niveles de 16 metales (arsénico, bario, calcio, cadmio, cobalto, cromo, cobre, hierro, manganeso, mercurio, níquel, plomo, selenio, estroncio, vanadio y zinc) en 30 tampones de 14 marcas diferentes. En total, analizaron 60 muestras. Los productos se compraron entre septiembre de 2022 y marzo de 2023 en tiendas físicas de EE UU, de la Unión Europea y el Reino Unido, así como de dos grandes minoristas en línea. Las concentraciones de metales variaron según el lugar de compra, si eran de marca o genéricos, y si eran orgánicos o no. Respecto a esto último, las concentraciones de plomo eran más altas en los tampones no orgánicos, pero las de arsénico eran más elevadas en los tampones orgánicos. Sin embargo, encontraron que los metales estaban presentes en todos los tipos de tampones. Ninguna categoría tenía de forma consistente concentraciones más bajas de todos o la mayoría de los metales. Musste mitten in der Nacht ganz dringend aufs Klo, weil ich so viel Tee getrunken habe. Ich wollte nicht, weil es im Bett so fein war und warm, weil das Klo so weit weg ist und die Türen, musste dann doch, sonst hätte ich ins Bett gemacht. Ja, wirklich, und habe mir geschworen, am Abend keinen Tee mehr zu trinken. Jetzt trinke ich gerade schon wieder so viel Tee. Um sieben Uhr läutete der Wecker, weil ich zur Universitätsbibliotheksführung wollte, ging dann aber doch nicht hin. Stand erst um acht Uhr auf wegen der Vorlesung über französische Malerei, peinture française. Zur Métro, Photos gemacht, beim Karlsplatz ausgestiegen, wieder Photos gemacht, den ganzen Weg bis zu den Museen photographiert, Maria Theresia ist auf dem letzten Photo. Ich ging doch nicht in die peinture Vorlesung. Zur Theaterwissenschaft, das Buch über FERNÖSTLICHES THEATER bestellt, zur Universität. Im Park KALLDEWEY FARCE gelesen und geraucht. Eine Vorlesung über Racine, Wurstsemmeln gekauft bei der gleichen Greißlerei wie gestern, zur Romanistik: F4. Claude Manac'h stellt uns die blöde Aufgabe, frankophone Menschen zu interviewen, in Dreier-Gruppen. Ich und noch 2 Studenten bleiben übrig, kommen am 3. November an die Reihe. Dabei ist der unsympathische Pimpf, Gerhard T., den ich nicht mag, weil er so arrogant ist und so alternativ ausschaut. Vor Wut habe ich ein wunderschönes Bild gezeichnet.

Vorlesung über Nominalsyntagmen: der Professor ist schön und so zynisch wie Claudius. Eine interessante Vorlesung, endlich einmal. Mir fällt ein, dass er sagte: "Ja, der Doppler ist ein sehr charmanter Mensch", als ich ihm erklärte, dass ich den Doppler viel schöner fände als den Krömer. Ganz ernst und irgendwie traurig. Also hat er meinen Gedankengang vorweggenommen? Stressige Zeit, nach Hause, nichts im Postkasten. Tee, Müsli, Brot. Wie er geschaut hat, als ich sagte, unsere Beziehung sei wie ein Müsli mit lauter Klumen drin, so grauslich. Wo bist du denn? Hältst du dich wieder versteckt, du Schwein! Lieb gemeint. Ich hätte beinahe geweint, als ich alleine auf der Straße, im Dunkeln, an dich dachte. Habe es aber wegen der vorbeifahrenden Autos nicht getan, habe jetzt keine Zigaretten mehr.

Tee getrunken, das Studio neuer Musik angehört, mit Hans Werner Henze, vor lauter unausgelebter Liebe zu dir habe ich vergessen, aufzuschreiben, dass ich im Akademietheater war, Stehplatz um 10 Schilling, wollte DIE WILDENTE sehen, aber sie spielten DIE BENACHRICHTIGUNG von Václav Havel. Ein miserables Bühnenbild, Weibchenrollen, schlecht gespielt, nur Erwin Steinhauer war gut. Habe nur für ihn geklatscht. Seit ich Claudius kenne, stehe ich nur noch auf solche Männer. Komisch. Gar nicht komisch. Sie sind viel sanfter und zärtlicher.

Welches Buch soll ich mitnehmen? Habe KALLDEWEY FARCE im Theater fertig gelesen. In der Pause mit einem deutschen Mädchen geredet, sie war eigentlich unmöglich. Im Theater sind nur eingebildete Leute. Im falschen Theater. Das echte Theater ist ja noch nicht geboren, außer bei Nika Brettschneider und bei Erwin Piplits. Im Theater vor mir saßen zwei Französinnen, die hätte ich fragen können wegen diesem Interview. Traute mich nicht. In der Untergrundbahn kam ein schöner, alter Mann auf mich zu, der war auch Franzose, und ich dachte dauernd darüber nach, was ich zu ihnen sagen könnte. Traute mich nicht.

Gestern habe ich in der Buchhandlung Herrmann ein Luchterhand-Buch von Svende Merian gesehen, vielleicht nehmen sie mich auch? Bis jetzt noch keine Antwort. Habe ich mich dort beworben? All meine Illusionen. Dafür räche ich mich jetzt und kaufe keine Bücher mehr.

both post-war modern churches form a quasi church campus and harmonious unity although they were planned by different architects. this is due on the one hand to the similar style and on the other hand to the fact that the clinker brick used has the same colour. since 2009, the parish hall of the catholic church has also housed a jewish community centre.
