Day 28: Young & Old
for: @microficmay
All trans people are beautiful. Because they are people. And people are beautiful. If you ever have a problem with that, you've got a problem with me. And trust me. You don't want this.
Presenting to you, Mr Potter..." George and Fred's tall lanky figures were hiding something from him.
"The one and only, Gilbert Weasley! Formerly the annoying little sister, currently our brother AND partner in crime! Please give the bloke a warm welcome!"
Gilbert looked older than his previous self, but was certainly the most handsome and beautiful creature Harry's ever seen in his life.
-W-wow...!- he managed to choke out.

Ohhh thinking about how Darien's Words of the Fallen note tells the player "Don't trust her. Don't trust any of the Daedric Princes. Not ever." and how that completely solidifies Isla's distrust and hatred of daedric princes and anything daedric related, after one made her lose her husband Twice.
And how almost a decade later, she's confronted with a daedric prince telling her that she has to work with him to save Nirn and sign into a contract with him to do so. It's triggering old traumas from the Planemeld, the Daedric Triad, Deadlands, of having to work with daedra to save the world - because she alone has to do it - only to be betrayed and still lose something or someone. How scared she is to be forced into giving away another piece of herself to the Hero title...
But instead, her best friend, her most trusted confidant, the person she's spent the last year and a half healing with and learning to love, steps in to sign the contract on her behalf, knowing the pain it would cause her to do so. Instead of making her sacrifice her vow to her husband, Sebastien steps into the Hero's shoes to learn about her experiences and protect her like she's always protected Tamriel.

Sicktember Day 3
Painkillers
Fandom: The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne
Characters: Harbert Brown and Elisabeth Dare (OC)
Illness: Fever
Warning: Mentioned Injury
-
‘Elisa…’
‘I’m here Harbert, I’m right here.’
She grabbed the boy’s hand for what felt like the millionth time that night and held it close to her, trying to provide some kind of comfort for him. Elisa wasn’t sure if he was even awake or just the pain made him whimper loudly in his fever-hazed sleep. The never ending pain that tormented Harbert wasn’t letting either of them sleep and while Elisa would survive a little vigil, Harbert desperately needed every little rest he could have, his body needed to regain a little energy to keep fighting with his sickness. He needed to, otherwise…
‘Elisa, it hurts…’
Harbert was fully awake, his glassy eyes looking right at the girl and begging her for some kind of relief, even though both of them know she couldn’t provide any. A sharp pain shoot through Elisa’s chest at the sight of his best friend, the feeling of helplessness almost becoming a physical pain as she clutched his hands closer, pressing them onto her skin.
‘I’m so sorry Harbert, I’d do anything to make you feel better, I so wish I could just take your pain away…’
Tears were forming in the boy's eyes and silently dripped down on his cheeks as he closed his eyes. He never let himself show any real pain in front of the others not wanting to upset them any further, he knew everyone was trying so hard to help him. To make things better even if they all knew they had so little chance. It was only in the dark of the night and in front of Elisa where Harbert could let his tears show and it broke her heart to see him like this, but Elisa knew she had to let him just break down once in a while. Even this young man couldn’t be strong forever.
‘It hurts…’ were the only things echoing in the quiet dark for a while as Elisa carefully climbed to bed next to Herbert and pulled him close. She was moving slowly and very mindfully, not wanting to accidentally make a wrong move and hurt the boy. Only when he was resting his head on top of her chest and Elisa rushed her fingers through Harbert’s damp and greasy hair, let herself take a big, shaking breath. Harbert was clutching onto her shirt for his dear life and buried his face into her hair. Elisa was sure the adults would freak out if they saw them like this, fearing that they’d tear his wound up again, but she knew Harbert needed someone to comfort him and they couldn’t have given this to him.
‘Here, breathe into this.’ held Elisa a piece of clothing right in front of Harbert’s nose so he wouldn’t have to even lift his head up. ‘I dipped it into the lavender oil Mr. Smith made the other day.’
‘But it won’t help anything…’
‘Yes, but you know how it’s used for its calming effect, right?’
‘Yeah…’
Harbert’s little obsession was natural history so Elisa was hoping to distract his mind by talking about herbs for a little. She loved how the boy’s eyes lit up like this even in his state and started to mumble about the flower. Elisa felt tears forming in her eyes, as she was mourning something she haven’t even lost yet. As Harbert finished the little speech he looked up at the girl and Elisa forced a smile on her face as she patted his head.
‘Very good Harbert, you really know so much, I’m so proud of you.’
‘It really was nothing…’
‘Oh, don’t be humble now. I know you’re the greatest natural scientist ever living on this earth.’
‘Elisa, please…’ a small smile appeared on Harbert’s face that quickly turned into a grimace filled with pain. Elisa’s heart was almost crying, but she held the cloth in front of Harbert.
‘It’ll help you relax a bit and fall asleep.’
‘But if I wake up…?’
‘I’ll be right here next to you and do everything to make you feel better. I promise.’
‘But there’s nothing you can do…’
‘Don’t say that!’ Elisa was trying so hard not to cry in front of Harbert but it was so hard. ‘We’ll find you something, you’ll get better I swear. But first, you need to sleep.’
‘At least I won’t feel anything when I’m not awake… I’m so tired of it…’
‘Shhh, it’s alight… Now, here. I’ll stay here until you fall asleep, okay?’
‘Thank you.’
‘Of course.’
It took a while and a lot of lavender oil, caressing, and soft whispers until Harbert was somehow finally resting again, quietly whimpering in his sleep but at least sleeping. Elisa gently placed a small kiss on his forehead and held him close as she whispered into the dark.
‘I’m sorry Harbert, but the only painkiller I have for you is just sleeping right now…’

once my french teacher asked if it bothered me that l'île mystérieuse has no female characters and i had no decent answer beyond a shrug
fully eight years later and i'm writing a whole damn essay on why the absence of female characters is the whole reason l'île mystérieuse's plot is able to function
i feel so petty right now and also the real answer originally was 'i have self-inserted myself so irrevocably into this novel that i genuinely did not notice'

Young Stannis (& Robert) with his goshawk Proudwing
"When I was a lad I found an injured goshawk and nursed her back to health. Proudwing, I named her. She would perch on my shoulder and flutter from room to room after me and take food from my hand, but she would not soar. Time and again I would take her hawking, but she never flew higher than the treetops. Robert called her Weakwing. He owned a gyrfalcon named Thunderclap who never missed her strike. One day our great-uncle Ser Harbert told me to try a different bird. I was making a fool of myself with Proudwing, he said, and he was right."

@griefabyss69 @pennyplainknits @paperbackribs @spectrum-spectre @cranberrymoons @steddie-island i think the people want to know about Indubitably to Suck a Dick 😂😂
ITSAD is an unbelievably stupid crack fic idea i had after remembering an old poetry lesson from a high school summer writing workshop and then thinking about how eddie munson would terrorize his english teachers. it’s terrible i love it you can read the first part here. and a fresh snippet where that part left off below:
“You’re both showing off,” Frank cuts in as he steps up to his locker. “And why are you pissing off Ms. Harbert on purpose, man? I thought you were trying to graduate this time.”
Wow. Eddie blinks at him. “Well, hello to you, too, man, Jesus Christ. Who pissed in your Cheerios?”
“Probably Candace,” Jeff says.
“Probably fuck off,” Frank suggests.
“Yep. Definitely Candace.”
Frank groans and shuts his locker, knocks his forehead against the door. Eddie leans a shoulder against the cool metal and levels him with an earnest look, dropping his voice. “She turn you down for Valentine’s day?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it.”
Ouch. That’s a yes. And a bad one, too, judging by how miserable Frank’s voice sounds when he says it. Eddie sucks his teeth in sympathy.
Jeff offers no such thing. “Are you two losers done feeling sorry for yourselves now? I want to get to rehearsal.”
Little asshole. Dude always knows just what to say to get them out of a funk, works like a charm every time — not because it’s the correct response, but because Frank and Eddie both start going in on him so hard that they forget to mope entirely, hollering “Wooooow!” and “Seriously, man??” and “Go fuck yourself, Jeff!”
“Yeah, Jeff!”
“You know,” Eddie says conversationally to Frank, “I’m told getting popped in the mouth hurts especially bad with braces.”
“Damn right, it does,” Frank nods, and then they’re laughing, snickering like a bunch of dorks in a nearly empty hallway, which, like. They should probably clear out of. The roaming packs of after-school jocks will be prowling around here soon enough, and threats of violence are only funny when you know nobody means that shit.

tagged by @sylvienerevarine for this tag game... i don't know who has already been tagged but i will tag @druidx and @redyn-nerevarine and anyone else who feels like it
How many works do you have on AO3?
91.. i have no idea how it got to that amount. most of them are like 500 words though. just bits. i also have 33 on fanfiction dot net but haven't posted there in years and years
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
146,927. which means i'm somehow significantly under my fanfiction dot net count (232,934!!) despite the 91 fics. damn what was i on back in 2015
3. What fandoms do you write for?
well you all know about the elder scrolls ones. have dabbled in dragon age and mass effect, but don't often publish what i write for those. my 2015 obsessions were merlin and sherlock and occasionally atlantis but they're pretty much abandoned
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
cannot really answer as i got hit a few times by the kudos bot. the formation of a courier is incontestably up there. as is where were you when the dragonborn came, but i've a feeling people accidentally end up on that one thinking the title is uhhh innuendo
5. Do you respond to comments?
i try to... i don't get too many and idk what to reply other than 'thanks! :)' though
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
an ultimatum and well laid plans maybe... i can't really say that my fics have endings. since they're mostly scraps and i never finish longer fics
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
see above... i try to end things happily but since i'm writing fics from the middle it's not always obvious from what i publish
8. Do you get hate on fics?
thankfully not. except an instance of delphine hate that wasn't very favourable to the fic either. and that one time way back when, when someone criticised a fic for being unrealistic. because the count of monte cristo is so realistic
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i do not. the only time i tried, it ended up extremely non-explicit anyway. and i deleted it off ao3 because it was cringe but it was getting tons of hits from people probably expecting more. i used to tag my fanfiction dot net ones with 'this will not contain smut or anything like that' because i didn't realise that smut was what people were mainly looking for
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written?
i began a merlin/sherlock crossover that got quite popular but which i never finished... the crazy thing ended up being not so much the crossover but the existence of a magical teleporting conservative mp
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i damn well hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i used to translate my own fics into french... i no longer have the translations but knowing how bad i was at french in 2015, i doubt they were readable. maybe i ought to try again... since nobody else appears to be doing so hehe
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
no although i have written crack fics with my sibling that would never make any sense to anyone including us
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
i'm not really in this for the shipping... my oc victoria hatteras and her platonic soulmate harbert brown will always be my otp but i do not publish anything about them. am however fond of julienne and marcurio (all the book smarts and none of the street smarts), and lunette and ilmeni (which despite lunette's cavalier attitude to romance, i am determined will be perfect)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
occasionally i still get requests to continue the aforementioned merlin-sherlock crossover. but that's probably not happening. really the answer is 'literally any of them' since i don't remember the last time i finished a multi-chapter fic
16. What are your writing strengths?
uhhh uniqueness. chaos punctuation. sounding like i died two hundred years ago
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
anything actually happening that involves like movement and stuff
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
i've not thus far felt like i needed to, at least for tes. if a fic called for french or german, then i'd try. if it called for anything else, i wouldn't trust myself or google translate enough. idk how readers would feel about that... i already invent words from french sometimes
19. First fandom you wrote for?
in terms of published works, it seems to be doctor who. in terms of generally... hell probably still doctor who, i was obsessive when i was younger
20. Favourite fic you've written?
all and none of them. the aforementioned formation of a courier... and the imperial city irregulars, that was a good one. i seem to be more consistent and less cringe where comedy is concerned than more serious fics

Isla and Seb do the Necrom main quest as a pair, where he does anything that requires going to Apocrypha, and she does side quests in the Telvanni Peninsula while he's busy and tags along for the main quest events in the Peninsula. The one exception is when he's about to enter the Mythos to fight Blightcrown and Vaermina, and she demands entry to go assist him. As much trauma as she has with daedric realms and bargains with Princes, her one weakness is knowing Seb is placing himself in danger on her behalf and she refuses to let him do this alone.
This whole story has played out very interestingly for Mora as a character in Isla's story - he knows he needs the help of the Hero but whether or not she would agree is difficult to ascertain. She's opinionated and loud and knows better than to trust a daedra after years of experience, but she's also exhausted and very close to reluctantly accepting her fate because she knows she can't stop it. She doesn't form attachments to people like she used to, in a way that would give her a cause to fight for. But the one way she would Willingly choose to fight on Mora's behalf and genuinely care about the way things end? Involving the one person she has opened her heart to in the last several years into his plot.

Scenes from David Lynch’s unaired 1994 “re-imagining” of PERFECT STRANGERS. Derided as “incoherent” by ABC President Ted Harbert, the 3 hour pilot swapped its two lead roles from scene to scene without warning or acknowledgement, often seeming to imply that “Cousin Larry” existed only in Balki’s mind; a manifestation of his disillusion with the facade of the American dream.
The most contentious aspects of the production were long, disturbing, mostly dialogue-free dream sequences examining Balki's fears and insecurities about his new identity as a Myposian-American immigrant. Many test screening participants walked out during the pilot's 3+ hour runtime.
ABC execs quickly and quietly shelved the project before it was announced, and refocused their scripted series development on “family-friendly” content. Lynch, a longtime PERFECT STRANGERS enthusiast, was devastated and furious at what he called a “betrayal” on the part of the network. He would go on to channel his feelings about the ordeal into a dark neo-noir horror film, 1997’s LOST HIGHWAY.
