Evolution of the CIty Noire (my tactical ttrpg): First it was a more side scroller game style with a some references from strategy games like Fire Emblem.

Than I moved to isometric minis, adapting the style to the isometric view, based on iconic games like Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics style (My favorite Pixel Art style) but also isometric view is the most common used in digital tactical strategy games overall, some examples including Xcom, Invisible Inc, BattleTech and Fell Seal.

And finally adding more dynamic poses and itens/equipments, and changing the colour style to work more with hardshadows and a purple rim light to better highlight the characters.

A Genie in a lamp ? I got my October #scrawlrbox last weekend. I was so excited to try the #copicsketchmarkers, especially they are very pricey here. Also the prompt was cool from this month #scrawlrchallenge. Maybe there isn’t a genie in a lamp. Maybe a little magical lizard makes a cute home in there. They markers are really nice and I had much fun to work with them. But for me, I will buy this kind of markers only if they are on sale. The reason is mainly the price. TESTING - einen 3D Charakter in Photoshop editieren

Workflow (Teil 1)

- in Mixamo einen Charakter aus dem Preset wählen, eine Animation zuweisen - Animation downloaden (*.FBX); enthält zugleich die Texturen  - aus der Animation eine bestimmte Bewegung verwenden; da PSD nur *.obj Daten öffnen kann, braucht man hier ggf. einen Zwischenschritt (aus Adobe Fuse kann man den in Fuse erstellten Charakter direkt in die CC Cloud hochladen) - ich habe als Zwischenschritt die Animation z.B. in Poser geöffnet  (freilich gibt es weitere Alternativen zur Weiterverarbeitung) und eine mir interessant erscheinende Haltung der Figur als Single Frame exportiert (ohne Ground + Universe); Format: *.obj. In Poser lässt sich die über Mixamo erzeugte Animation mit einem Klick einfach abspielen. - diese Datei kann man nun in PSD öffnen und bearbeiten (in der 3D Ansicht kann man das Licht editieren, die Drehung, Neigung und Skalierung der Figur mit ihrem Schattenwurf verändern und gestalten; auch für eine Kontur benötigt man keinen separaten Alphakanal o.ä.); vgl. das Video ab ca. 7:30 min. - zugleich lassen sich weitere PSD Möglichkeiten verwenden

Nachtrag und Bug (Poser) - Break im Workflow ...

in weiteren Test (Figur des REMY erzeugt) versagt POSER wenn die Maximo Animation als *.FBX importiert wird. Die Figur klappt zusammen, keine Ahnung warum (s. Abb.); damit kann man nicht arbeiten... In weiteren Versuchen wurde u.a. die farbigen Texturen nicht übernommen. Das wirkt irgendwie zufällig, zumal man davon ausgehen kann, dass die Mixamo Charactere im Mesh wohl in Ordnung sind. Ob sich bei dem Export aus Mixamo Fehler einschleichen können, kann ich nicht beurteilen,

Ich versuche eine Erklärung/Lösung zu finden, solange ist der “Workflow” leider noch nicht perfekt genug.

Mixamo Character aus dem Presets wählen (Regina), Animation  zuweisen (hier: Football Hike) ; Animation donwloaden als FBX; fortgeschritten: oder eigenen Charakter in Maximo riggen und downloaden (Format COLLADA.Dae verwenden, denn damit kann man auch die Animation in PSD verwenden!)

dann in PSD die *.*.dae öffnen (hier auch die Bildgröße planen und ggf. steigen; 1920 x 1080px, 150dpi

nun kann man das Licht modifizieren, den Schattenwinkel (ggf. Weichheit des Schattens justieren), die Figur in der Komposition arrangieren (verschieben/drehen/Skalieren)

zusätzlich habe ich eine Hintergrundebene (50% grau) und eine Ebene mit Altem Papier (Textur.jpg) im Modus “multiply” hinzugewählt

Alternative: 

Cinema 4d; diese Datei dort laden (oder ein +:fbx Format aus dem Mixamo-Download); im Material-Manager bei allen Materialien ggf. die Transparenz rausnehmen; dann ggf. ein gewünschtes Frame der Animation wählen (es wird dann nur dieses Keyframe exportiert

nun in C4D diese Datei als *.obj exportieren oder als COLLADA 1.4.dae (denn dies erlaubt zugleich in PSD die Übernahme der Keyframes aus Mixamo)

oder: in C4D die Szene als *PSD exportieren und ggf. für den Schatten und für die Figur separate Kanäle/Ebenen erstellen; den Hardshadow aus C4D könnte man so z.B. mit Gausschem Weichzeichner modifizieren o. dgl.; dann bräuchte man die 3D Funktion in PSD eigentlich nicht ...

Warum das alles?

Ich hatte ein Tutorial (Sean Frangella 2015) gefunden, wo das Zusammenspiel von Fuse und Photoshop vorgestellt wurde. Das arbeitet in der CC ja wie vorgesehen. Aber die Mixamo Preset Charaktere kann ich nicht als *OBJ oder *.DAE downloaden, folglich so auch nicht in PSD weiterverarbeiten. Da Mixamo nur FBX Daten ausliefert. (Warum Adobe in Mimamo nicht wenigstens wie in Fuse eine Option ”Save to CC Libraries” bietet, ist mir unklar). Ich wollte alternativ mal testen, ob die Software Poser eine Konvertierung ermöglicht, aber meine Testversion hat hier Fehler (s.o.). Online Convertierer liefern im Test aber nur Graustufenmodelle. Blender hat im Test meine importierten FBX Daten nicht korrekt mit den Texturen eingelesen und auch in der Konvertierung nicht das gewünschte Ergebnis geliefert (möglicherweise bin ich aber nicht richtig vorgegangen, ich kenne die dortigen Routinen leider nicht). Allerdings hat C4D hier im Test brauchbare und beste Ergebnisse im Zusammenspiel mit PSD gezeigt.

Fazit 

Im 2D Programm PSD hat man eingeschränkte Verarbeitungsmöglichkeiten von 3D-Szenen. Dennoch kann man für manche Zielsetzungen hier 3D Daten importieren und letztlich für das Tweeking die Stärken der Software nutzen. Da Fuse keinen Datenimport erlaubt, bleibt hier nur das Spiel mit den vorgefertigten Charakter-Sets, die allerdings in PSD weiterverarbeitet werden können. Die Software Poser (2015) hat sich aus meiner Sicht als wenig brauchbar gezeigt, zudem stören mich Interface-Probleme wie die Auswahl der Character und Prob; einige Importprobleme sind sehr gravierend. Hier wären Bugfixes und ein neues Release vernünftig.
