pokemon haunting my brain again recently and also I found my old batfam pokemon hcs. I'm gonna re-do them all but for now? ...Okay so far the only one I really got settled is Tim's but let me get into it.

My current line-up for him is:

Eevee (later evolves either into Umbreon OR Jolteon) Galarian Yamask Talonflame

There's still 3 remaining spaces, I'll see what I'll do with them.

I think that Tim's first ever pokemon would have been an Eevee.

Perhaps a cliche choice, but I do have my reasoning for it. Eevee is a fairly rare pokemon, well tempered, and it's adaptability gives it a lot of value — therefore it wouldn't be a far shot to say that they'd be a common choice of pet for upper classes. Could be a good show of wealth in itself, even more if it's a shiny, so there's that. Said Eevee would be originally just a companion pokemon, not adept for fighting, but after a bit of Tim sneaking out I can definitely see it insisting on following along. Having Anticipation as a hidden ability would make it better at protecting it's stubborn 8 years old trainer, along with Run Away for, well, getting out quick. It's nature would most likely be Calm bc 1. Umbreon meta and 2. I think having a calm pokemon could match or be benefitting for Tim in general.

My current idea is that Eevee evolves to Umbreon by the time Tim becomes Robin, solidifying the bond they have together (as Umbreon is evolved with friendship).

Tim's second pokemon, also obtained during his childhood, would've been Yamask, specifically of the Galarian variety.

I specifically thought this one out because, well, Tim's parents are archeologists.

"A clay slab with cursed engravings took possession of a Yamask. The slab is said to be absorbing the Yamask’s dark power."

Tim's parents come home from an excavation in Europe worn out and with some artifacts that they brought home for further study. Later that week, the shadows around the house appear a little darker, specially around his father's study, where one of the artifacts sat on his desk.

Ok, I'm not writing this all out in a storytelling manner, but you get where I'm going here. Tim's parents bring back an artifact fragment that turns out to be possessed by a Yamask. I think it'd be kinda funny if Tim's Eevee and the intruding pokemon were at odds with eachother, until they both become the Protection Squad for Eevee's trainer. Tim, on the other hand, only learns about Yamask way later, after the pokemon feels safe to show itself off to the human.

Yamask would never be able to evolve into Runerigus as it depends entirely on being around a certain location (Dusty Bowl in SWSH) in order to evolve. Since it's completely removed from it's natural habitat, accessing it wouldn't be possible.

The third pokemon I have in mind is Talonflame.

Now, this is the one I have least planning about. I don't even know if Tim initially bonds with it as a Fletchling or Fletchinder, nor whether they meet during his Robin days or during what happens in the Red Robin (2009) run.

If the meet happens when he's a Robin, I'd imagine it's a little before the Titans or Young Justice (do NOT ask me about continuity I'm still unsure of what team he joined first or which one is currently canon, I'm gonna go with YJ because atm I hella like it more) and Fletchling fits the bill more in this situation. Obligatory tiny bird pokemon for Robin, lol.

If it's the latter situation, then Fletchinder. I'd imagine it'd be pretty interesting to have it evolve into Talonflame by the end of the arc, kind of fitting the theme of Tim developing his own identity and all that (I'm NOT wording this symbology right but uhhhhhh *gestures vaguely to it all).

ANYWAY. There's still 3 spots to fill, so I'm gonna look into those next!

I've been thinking a lot about Sky recently and specially about how skykids work so I'm really glad to have found this post ^^ it succinctly puts down the same things I thought about the topic as well. I think I might make my own drawn version later, but the OG concept is the same — the skykid's body is the vessel (I like to think of it as a kind of clay-like vessel) in which the light soul is contained. The cosmetics in this case are the light manifested into a more specific shape, which is why a skykid's cosmetics do not appear in their shadow in-game (check it out)! The default cosmetics are what skykids are able to shape themselves into without (much) external help, specially the 3 default hairstyles, for a brief example. The seasonal and event cosmetics could be considered more complex, which is where the need for a "mold" would come in. Similarly, in the lore I had been brewing in my mind, a skykid could go past the simple mask look and take on the shape it dictates (hence the anthropomorphic skykids, since I can't really choose between drawing my dragon skykid as an actual dragon or a masked kid sometimes-), though that requires more 'light malleability' from the user, as OP put it. I really like the inspiration from selkies! They're one of my favorite myths, plus it's a little silly since I do have a selkie skykid oc (though they're a bit unfinished...haha). Overall, this is a really interesting way of looking at skykid...biology? Well, it keeps a ton of doors open for whatever design you'd want, which I enjoy very very much.

An expansion of my headcannon of skykids being able to transform into the animals their masks are based off of! Typed versions of the image text and additional notes below the cut, because LORD do I have so much to say about this concept.

Light takes shape of container at first, but has no one shape

Light grows used to assuming humanoid shape to fit container, but as a skykid strengthens their light, they remember/learn how to assume other shapes and gain the ability to mold their container to their will.

Image 2:

LIGHT is fluid, but the container is stiff and easily broken (at least at first). It takes a lot of slow, hard work to mold it, and MASKS are used to tell the container what shape to take/give the LIGHT a direction.

Skykids imbue their mask with their light so that when they wear it, it connects to them and allows the transformation to occur.

Change happens in increments, not all at once—learning to shape oneself takes TIME.

Small notes: "Small changes first" above the drawing of the two hands, and "Most stick to an anthropomorphic form" beside the fox skykid.

Additional Notes:

This process is also why Skykids are born wearing masks. Because light is fluid and has no single shape, the light of a newborn Skykid has not yet learned how to be humanoid, and is at risk of breaking the fragile body it inhabits, therefore: Megabird gives newborn Skykids a basic mask to “teach” their light how to maintain its shape inside the container. It takes a lot of effort to obtain the blank/“faceless” mask because it takes a lot of effort for Skykids to maintain a humanoid shape without the assistance of a mask.

Also potentially how the chibi mask works (in a world where chibis aren’t just toddlers/babies)—the mask tells the Skykid to be small.

The process of becoming a Morpho (workshopping the name) is long and arduous, and involves a lot of studying the animal one wants to take the shape of, before then making the mask that will guide the shape-change. Though most of the Skykids who take an animal form choose a more anthropomorphic default, it is possible to transform completely into the animal of choice, and this is often done for fun or stress relief.

Possible that the Eden cycle strengthens the body and makes it more malleable to change? Something to do with repeatedly dying and being reincarnated and becoming more familiar with/at home in the body you possess. Kinda like how exercising is just you tearing muscles in your body so that they grow back even stronger.

Masks can also of course be just masks. A lot of Skykids like to wear animal masks without doing any of the actual Becoming; its fun to disguise as a little creature sometimes!

Unlike human beings (and potentially ancestors?), who are all full of guts and bones and stuff, Skykids are pretty much all light in there, and the outside is just a shell. They can eat and drink and everything, and it’s fun, but it all gets burnt up instead of being digested or anything and they don’t need it to survive. Also how Krill work; they’re starved for light, and Skykids are full of it, but there’s this pesky little shell in the way, so the Krill have got to crack it to get the light out.

This is slightly inspired by the legends of the Selkie, with the masks being akin to the seal pelts that the Selkie wear to turn themselves into seals.

The body/container is what protects Skykids from having their light too badly damaged and allows them to walk the realms of Sky, but it is also what limits them in their ability to shape-change. In a hypothetical situation where a Skykid was completely unrestrained (i.e. pure light without a body, like we are in Orbit), they could potentially become any and every light creature available to them.

Essentially: Skykids = light, and light = all light creatures, so Skykids = all light creatures.

I’ll probably think of more stuff to add to this later, but for now that’s about it. I’m already thinking up possible animal forms for my singular sky OC lol (because even though I looked it up and that mask is technically a serow mask, it could very easily be any number of other things, like a dragon or a giraffe).

Quick point to re: is Croc openly trans or not

So Ivankov's ability to change someone's biological sex is kind of a "myth" in the OP world, right? The way Bon-chan talked about Ivankov was with an aura of legend, how they had heard all these incredible things about Ivankov but couldn't even be entirely sure the person truly even existed until they got to meet face-to-face, because the stories told about Ivankov were just so incredible

Of course, between Iva-chan's imprisonment 6-5 years ago and the actual difficulty people would have genuinely finding them to begin with (being a Rev and travelling around the world sometimes and othertimes just hanging around in the Calm Belt on Momoiro Island), the word about their deeds would turn into Stuff of Legend as few would be able to actually verify it, see it for themselves and tell others all about it, but those stories had to start somewhere, right?

And we do have an interesting note here, as this prince mentioned his mother visiting Kamabakka Queendom 15 years ago (pre-timeskip)

Now one could think that hey, maybe this is where The Legends about Ivankov's miraculous abilities began, but think really about it for a moment; Why would some ruler of a kingdom go out of their way to travel to Kamabakka Queendom, ruled by a member for the Revolutionary Army (=potentially dangerous for a monarch), if they hadn't heard about Ivankov's ability from somewhere else first?

And that's where the timeline mention gets interesting. Because guess who was born just two years before this prince's mother made her brave journey to see Iva-chan?

I'm just saying, if Crocodile went missing for like 4-9 months and then came back fully transitioned out of nowhere, and Morgans made a huge god damn deal about it on the news, letting the whole world know about the Warlord magically having become a man, yeah, that would start some rumors about who what where and how this even happened. And needless to say, this could easily send a lot of people out to the seas to try to find the Miracle Worker who transed Crocodile's gender, including some monarchs who have the resources to both verify the legends but also actually make the journey to find Ivankov (Also, if the inciting incident that started the legends about Ivankov happened due to Crocodile like 17-19 years ago, that would add to that aura of myth Ivankov has around them, as it would've been a long ass time ago when the first rumors about Emporio Ivankov would've gotten out there)

I’ve been wondering—how did your family react when you came out? I can only imagine that it must have been a big moment for you. Were they supportive, or did it take them some time to adjust? I’d love to hear how that went. (If you want to tell, it’s also okay if you don’t wanna!)

And speaking of important parts of your life, how do they feel about Elliot? I know he can be a handful sometimes. Do they get along well with him? I’m curious to know if they’ve embraced him as part of the family too.

David! Good to see you- as for your question..

My mama is the only close family I currently have, and was the most supportive she could be of me when I came out. She's always been an advocate for everybody's rights, and it wasn't any different when it came to me. She immediately accommodated when I brought Santi in (Santi is my 'niece', we met through a job of mine, and she was kicked out of her house by her parents for being queer) and immediately treated her like one of her own.

As for Elliott, my mama absolutely loved him from the moment I told her about him. He was so nervous about meeting her, but when he did she gave him this lovely speech about how she's so glad that I've settled down with him, and that she couldn't think of anybody better for me. He was just speechless. It was adorable.

Should've seen how he was when she gave her little speech at our wedding. A lot of tears were shed that day, I'll tell you that.
