Insomniac!Peter

He was still trying to find his normal after being merged with the symbiotic alien for so long. There were a lot of things that Pete regretted, things he had said and done. The uncontrollable and animosity he had shown both you and Miles. Peter had finally taken a small step back from being Spider-Man, as well as you, to allow his pupil his time to shine; to be New York's only superhero for a while.

Nightmares were an after effect of the symbiote. Most nights, Peter would be plagued with gruesome dreams. The images from his consciousness bleed into the real world only for a few seconds as he jolts awake. Remnants of his tortured imagination cling to his thoughts like the cold sweat on his skin. Instantly he's sliding his hand along the sheets beside him, relieved when he comes into contact with your warm body; turning to see you already awake. He'd woken you up again. Instantly you're collecting Peter into your arms, holding him as he begins to sob with deep, horrendous tremors. He does what he can to stay grounded. Focusing on your breathing, your heartbeat, the smell of your shampoo.

"Deep breaths, Pete. I'm here. I'm safe. You're safe. Everything is okay." Your voice is his anchor, keeping him from drifting off into the endless, unrelenting black sea. In his vulnerability, Peter doesn't want to stop holding you. Not just yet.

Insomniac!Harry

He's so so so tired constantly, especially with the treatments he's been undergoing. There's something so comforting to him, to be able to come home to you and melt into your waiting embrace. Absolutely adores the way his larger frame nuzzles into yours from where you lay on the sofa. The first few strokes of your hand on his cheek have Harry melting into a dopey-smiled, overexerted puddle.

"Hey honey," Harry grumbles tiredly into your chest. He felt like he hadn't slept in years, his body constantly feeling like it was being dragged across asphalt. Honestly, he was surprised he was even able to manage a greeting to you. Sliding his arms around you, he wiggles them from your waist to wrap cozily around your upper torso. "Missed you. Wanna nap...?" Already dozing off, Harry doesn't hear your response as sleep overtakes him. You smile softly, brushing his soft auburn hair and place a kiss to his head; resting your cheek atop his fluffy hair.

Insomniac!Miles

It had been a few weeks since college started, Miles is simultaneously super excited and super overwhelmed with trying to balance Spider-Man and his personal life. Gangs were on the uprising and with Peter taking a backseat, Miles has been working nonstop daily.

Unlocking your front door with the spare key you'd given him, Miles let's himself in. You lived closer to campus and it was easier for him to commute to morning classes by spending the night at your place and then spending the weekends back home at his Mom's.

"Hey honey." Miles smiles but it doesn't quite reach his eyes. He's incredibly happy to see you, though his exhaustion is seeping through the cracks. The young man practically dragging himself to where you're relaxing in bed with a book. Ducking beneath the covers, Miles nuzzles his head against your tummy. "Just need to rest.. Nap with me?" He sleepily grins, the smile growing wider when you set your book aside. Sounds like an absolutely wonderful idea.

Tom!Peter

Sleep had been refusing to find him for the better part of a day and a half now. His hero work was getting a little sloppy and it was starting to really take its toll on him. Peter had been in and out of fights all day. First a robbery then an explosion and then some dude decked out in a mech suit. You had been there to help with the explosion before you had to whisk off to work. The abundance of crime New York had to offer seemed endless. On top of this, he was still dealing with the death of his aunt May, still grieving the loss of his only remaining family member. Even if time has passed him by and you remembered him. Grief comes in unsteady waves. He had given up so much, there was so much loss, and now he was trying to piece himself back together again. Peter would be ever thankful to have you by his side.

Today was another unsteady day for sure. Stumbling into your shared apartment window, he collapsed onto the bed with a heavy groan. His body hurts, his suit had taken considerable damage from flying debris during the explosion, and he was tired. Peter was certain he'd never been so tired in his life before; the type of exhaustion that seeps into your bones, your muscle tissue, and eats you alive until you're nothing but a worn down mess. He barely registers you entering the room, his senses dulled and weakened. You close the window and shut the blinds.

"I know you're tired, love. Go shower quickly and then we can get some sleep. I'll make you some food when we're up." You coo, stroking his scuffed cheek tenderly. Peter hails himself up like he's a pillowcase full of bricks. The shower feels nice but he's in a losing battle trying to keep his eyes open.

In fresh clothes, Peter falls into your welcoming embrace, snuggling into the fabric of your tee shirt. Your familiar scent caresses his senses. Instilling peace within him. He's out like a light, with his arms wrapped around you as tight as he can without harming you. Ever so scared you might slip away from him too.

"I'm so comfy. I never wanna move again." Peter giggles, nuzzling his cheek against your tummy. He sighs contentedly. Glancing up at you with those big beautiful brown eyes, a dopey grin melts onto his face. The one that you adore so much.

Running your fingers through his hair, Peter leans into your lovely touch. His fingers dance along your skin, mapping an imaginary path to your hand. Lacing your fingers together, Peter places numerous kisses to your knuckles humming a soft tune to himself. "You don't need to go anywhere, baby," you grin.

Wiggling down to him as best you can, you kiss his forehead. He giggles, melting against you, boneless, once more.

Thunder crashing across the sky pulls Peter out of his deep sleep. Blinking back sleep, he finds you curled up against him breathing even. Lightning flashes filling your shared bedroom with light. It illuminates your sleeping form, your tousled hair, and unbothered expression. He softly smiled, stroking your face with the back of his hand. Another ripple of thunder echoes throughout the apartment, rustling the old shingles and pipes.

Miguel O'Hara

Settling back down beside you, Peter collects you in his arms sighing deeply. You press closer to his chest, warm hands sliding around his waist to hold him to you. His mind is filled with the day's events. Erratic and chaotic. Nothing compared to the peace he felt in his soul when he laid beside you.

There was something so comforting about the lull of your heartbeat in his ears, the warmth of your body on his. Even in sleep you crave his closeness. If Peter can find comfort in anything, it's that.

He's grumpy and he's stressed most of the time. So he really appreciates when he's able to come home to you at a decent time. You two switch back and forth on who prepares dinner and tonight was your turn to cook, while Miguel took care of any dishes you made. Grilled steak, mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables beckon him inside from the balcony. He was certain he had never smelled food so delicious before. Food always seemed to taste different to him when it was prepared by someone he loves versus how he makes it himself. Though, it's still pretty damned good then, too.

Grabbing a change of clothes, Miguel heads to the bathroom attached to your one-bedroom apartment. He closes the door and grimaces. His suit glitched just above his hip. Deactivates his suit, he's met with a minor gash inches from his hipbone. It definitely would need stitches. Washing his hands, he gathers some medical grade thread and a needle. Cleaning up what he could, Miguel sews up his wound expertly. He'd done this many times, though he knew you'd still worry. Especially since he had to practically force you to take today off. Admiring his handiwork, he hops into the shower before going out to meet you at the dinner table.

Dinner was wonderful. The few hours that followed involved being curled up together on the sofa watching a movie and then enjoying idle conversation when that finished. It seemed like it had been forever since you two were actually allowed to spend time as a couple. Protecting the universe from anomalies was often greedy of most of your free time.

“ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the quarter finals, please join us in welcoming france and england to the pitch!” the announcer says over the loudspeakers. the crowd erupts into cheers as both teams walk out onto the pitch with children by their side. you make eye contact with your brother marcus and send him a little smile with a thumbs up. he returns the smile before looking away.

the commentator begins to go over the lineup for both teams and you nervously survey the field to try and find your boyfriend kylian. usually, you would be all decked out in his kit screaming his name to cheer him on but today’s game is different. this would be the deciding match for who goes on to play in the semifinals before making it to the final and your boyfriend is playing against not only your home team, but your older brother as well.

kylian had made the mistake of asking you to sit in his section and wear his jersey, it was a simple request really but you took major offense. you knew how much this game meant to your brother and how much was on the line for england. it felt a little insulting that he would ask you to cheer for the enemy.

kylian, at first, didn’t understand why you were being so harsh. all he wanted was for you to cheer him on like you always did and what should have been a simple disagreement turned into a full blown argument resulting in you giving kylian the cold shoulder and silent treatment. it’s stupid, you know, but having to watch your brother constantly be bashed online for things out of his control made you a bit protective. you can only imagine the amount of hate he would receive if england loses tonight.

the crowd erupts in more cheers as the singing of the national anthems comes to a close and the game finally begins. the crowd is split evenly, half of them cheering on france and the other half booing.

the ball is placed in the center of the field and the referee blows the whistle to signify the start of kickoff. france gets possession of the ball first and makes quick work of kicking the ball down the pitch towards the goal. jude intercepts the ball and he kicks it to harry who plays the ball forward with foden and mason following him to the other side of the field. harry kicks the ball past france’s two attackers only to lose the ball to kylian who sweeps it away and starts bolting down the field. saka follows closely behind trying to kick it away but he’s pushed down forcefully by tchouameni before he kicks the ball and sends it straight into the goalkeeper's net. the ref blows the whistle and the scoreboard is updated, 1-0.

the game continues on in this fashion and before you know it it’s the final half of the game and france is in the lead, 2-1. you’re on the edge of your seat, it’s clear at this point that the ref is biased. there had been so many fouls against england but not a single one was called, saka has been kicked around almost as if he were the ball but no cards nor penalty kicks were given whereas the france team was gifted fouls left and right if an england player so much as took a step near them. 

the game is now in extra time and it’s looking rather slow for england. the ball is dropped into the center and the whistle is blown, the ball is turned over to england and maguire kicks the ball back to harry and runs forward to play defense. harry stalls for a second allowing dembele to move forward and kick the ball away from him and play it forward. jude steps up and pushes against the boys chest and steals the ball before kicking it to the other side of the field and far away from the england goal. you follow the ball with your eyes and watch it land at foden’s feet. he moves up to make a pass to mason but is forcefully pushed by a midfielder on the opposing team. you cringe when you see foden fall forward right onto his face before tumbling over and over. you expect the ref to call a foul and grant your team a free kick but the call never comes. you stand up in shock, “that’s a foul!” you shout causing other england fans to yell their agreement as well. but the referee only shakes his head and blows his whistle, “no foul. the game is still live.”

“that’s bullshit!” you curse, beyond frustrated.

you clasp your hands together and pray that england can make one more goal. england holds down their own and puts up a good defense, not allowing france to score again. you watch as england makes quick work of getting the ball down the field to france’s side once more. maguire is in possession of the ball and goes to make a pass but gets tripped by a french player.

“foul! that’s a foul!” you yell and thankfully, the ref agrees granting england one last free kick. you watch as the england team debates on who should make the goal and you smile proudly when you notice they gave it to marcus. you watch with bated breath as he does a run up before striking the ball but to your disappointment it hits the bar rather than going into the net. your eyes close and you hang your head. england has been knocked out of the world cup.

the crowd erupts in cheers for france as the team holds a group hug in the center of the field.

you want to be happy for kylian but a part of you is upset for england and your brother. choosing to be a good sport, you languidly clap for france as you look onto the pitch. kylian looks up at you with a bright smile on his face. you don’t return it.

you leave the stands to head down to the france locker room, knowing your brother would want his space and at some point you would need to congratulate your boyfriend on his win.

“mon amour!” kylian says when he enters the locker room to find you pouting. he tries to reel in his excitement, knowing this win was rather painful for you.

you slowly make your way to him and wrap your arms around his waist, “you know that i love you and i’ll always be proud of you right?” you question.

he returns your hug and hums, “of course, i love you more.”

you sigh into his chest before pulling away. “good. with that being said, you’re sleeping in the guest room indefinitely.”

kylian lets out a choked laugh, “you can’t be serious?” you huff, “i am! england deserved to win that match!” kylian doesn’t argue, he knows deep down you’re proud of him for winning just a little hurt that your home team was being sent home. “fine. let’s see how well you sleep without your personal heater beside you.”

you gasp, “wait, i take it back.”

kylian shrugs. “too late.”

Celebs aren’t renting jewelry. They’re actually brand partnerships being paid to wear the jeweler.

The larger jewelers with the more valuable pieces (Harry Winston, Tiffany’s, Cartier, etc.) are paying the actresses huge fees to wear their jewelry, six or seven figures for each wearing. They’re also paying for security and transportation - not for the actress, but for the jewelry. Which happens to be on the body of the actress/celebrity so she gets it too.

Because it’s merching, these companies want women who will make sales for them. They’re looking for brand ambassadors who are generally well-liked, noncontroversial, of the moment, and again, who can and will make sales for them.

Meghan doesn’t meet the criteria. She doesn’t attend the glam events that people pay attention to, so she’s not going to get Harry Winston his spotlight. She isn’t generally liked, she’s too controversial and not in a good way, people aren’t paying attention to her, she doesn’t have social media, and her merching record is the sales rack - she doesn’t move product (neither clothes nor magazine covers). She also can’t hold her own against other, more high-wattage celebs; in celebrity PR at events like this, Meghan is essentially one step up above a seat-filler. She’s easily and always outshined by someone else and that’s not what Harry Winston wants. Harry Winston wants their jewelry front and center and that’s why they pay the big bucks to the Emma Stones and Julia Robertses of the world.

Sure, Meghan would be an economical deal - ie her fees would probably be less than someone with actual talent and real fame (she had more notoriety than fame these days, I’d argue). But why save on a Meghan, who can’t even sustain a headline by herself, when for just a little bit extra you can get Taylor Swift bestie and opening act Sabrina Carpenter, who’s got Gen Z and the Alphas eating out of her hand and who’s a guaranteed ROI?

I’d bet Meghan can’t even get Harry Winston to take her calls and that’s why she wears the small indie jewelry brands, like Tobey Maguire’s ex’s company and all these one-off brands. Because they’re the only ones who’ll pay her because the only places she goes to are the Baby2Baby galas, which barely get coverage. Meghan probably thinks she’s doing them favors and tries to squeeze them for more money than she’s worth but those brands are happy to pay her because they want the attention she’ll bring them from Sussex Squad.

Sorry for the dump you are about to read but I gotta tell you about a dream I had last week that was so earth shattering that I get sad to this day. I wrote it down when I woke up and thought of you. In my dream the year was 2001 and they were making the first Spider-Man movie. Sam Raimi decided that he wanted chemistry between Peter and Harry but your nemesis James Franco wasn’t interested since he didn’t like Tobey at all. James decided to drop out and I remember Tobey being upset because it was short notice. So he’s upset and crying in his mansion or whatever and his best friend Leonardo Di-fucking-Caprio was like “oh sure I can cover for him. I can be Harry.”

I forgot what happens in between but some time later, I sit down for the premiere and instead of the normal plot, Leo and Tobey derailed the movie by having their characters fall in love and it was a huge thing because the producers didn’t know. It was beautiful. Imagine the backyard conversations with Peter and MJ but instead it’s Leonardo DiCaprio giving the best performance of his life. They were in LOVE and the SM-2 unmasking scene was even more emotional than I could have imagined. They kissed before Tobey Maguire had to leave to save the city or whatever but like it was emo and hate filled for obvious plot related reasons. I remember crying SO hard in my dream and looking forward to SM-3. During the premiere, dream-me began to get confused because I was expecting things to happen that only happened in FTD, like the snake and the mushrooms. Apparently the producers knew you and were using your ideas so it was confusing that I never saw them materialized.

The ending of my dream came when Sony wanted Leo for Django unchained at the same time (timelines do not match up) so they had to kill him off and it was the most tragic death scene ever because it was like they really cared about each other. That boat movie has nothing on the misery this made me feel. They had a last kiss but never got to be together which was terrible because the first 2 movies were building up their relationship plus I never got to see the mushrooms and body horror! (I don’t know where MJ was actually. She sort of phased in and out of my consciousness) I woke up crying because for a moment, all of this was real and they were indeed this close to being together. Also I was PISSED that I woke up without completing the story. I saw an article a few days ago about the fact that they wear matching necklaces and the memory of my dream cut me.

They should have cast dave franco instead of trading one sex offender out for another.

Also Sony should in fact hire me and let nobody else touch spider man.

There's the one about the gremlin-ification of the Green Goblin within more recent fanon. Or my severely mixed feelings on No Way Home and how the potential was there to do something cool and narratively compelling, but I don't think the MCU writers actually thought about what they were doing/the implications this plot would have on the other universes.

That one goes hand in hand with my thoughts on Norman Osborn Redemption Arcs and how I, a certified Norman Osborn Enjoyer, feel they should be done (read: not in the way No Way Home did it) which also circles back to the gremlin-ification of the Green Goblin because I don't like to see my favorite Spidey villain decontextualized, misunderstood and woobified. (Not to say we can't joke around or we always have to take things 100% seriously in fandom, I've reblogged plenty of Gobby memes, it's a very specific fandom phenomenon that happened to work its way into the fandom's depictions of this villain, seemingly after No Way Home came out. I wasn't deep into the fandom at that time, so I didn't experience the beginning, but MAN did I catch up on the backlog at the beginning of this year).

Regrettably, I'm very tired and don't feel capable of sufficiently developing any of these, so I'll tell you something I've been wanting to share because I think it's funny and I haven't had another opportunity yet.

When I was a kid, my brother and I watched Raimi Spider-Man all the time - the first two, anyway, those were the ones we had on DVD. We even watched them before bed. Not because we were bored, but because they were so familiar we could fall asleep to them. They are some of the most beloved pieces of art in my life and I'm very glad for the place they have in my heart.

That being said. When I was a kid watching the first Spider-Man for the first time, I did not yet know that stunts were a thing. I thought Spider-Man and Green Goblin were actually beating the shit out of each other for the sake of making this film.

I also thought that Aunt May and Uncle Ben were married in real life and while I did not think they actually killed Uncle Ben, I DID assume they had actually shot him. Sometimes I would imagine a conversation between Aunt May and the filmmakers as they explained that they were going to have to seriously rough up her husband for art.

None of this was particularly alarming to me. I did think it was weird that they would do such a thing, making people beat each other up, but it brought me and my brother some of our favorite action scenes, so it wasn't all that important.

I did eventually learn, of course. By the time Spider-Man 2 came out I knew that actors didn't actually punch each other in the face or throw giant clock hands at each other. But that was how I lived my life and interacted with art for a time, assuming that Tobey Maguire was willingly getting bloodied up for my entertainment.
