HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY TO MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT!
"Five o'clock, get a call to go blading at the skate park down by the mall.
But my mom says I gotta prevent hostile aliens from annihilating us all ("Hi-ya!")
With the strength of a million-seventy men, I guess I really shouldn't complain
Still, I wish I could go for a walk without rusting in the rain
It's enough to fry my brain!
So welcome to my life (as a teenage robot)
The story of my life (as a teenage robot)
My teenage robot...LIFE!" HAPPY 20 YEARS OF MLAATR! Can’t believe it’s been that long since it came out, actually I can since it’s the same age as me now lol. So for this year I had a few things in mind, Maybe some cool-looking Jenny art, slightly aged-up versions of the characters to look like a few years have passed, so “My Life As A Young Adult Robot.” basically, and other concepts and ideas. However I opted to do a remake of an old drawing I made, it was one I was quite proud of, and that was “Taking Back Tremorton and the Earth”, one of the biggest drawings I ever made, so I decided that I’d digitize and update it, plus the old one did kinda need an update. This is the end result and I’m proud of how it turned out! Hope you guys like it, and a big thank you to Rob Renzetti for making the show in the first place!
(Hope you guys like it and have a Faztastic day! ^^)

Okay I've had this unique idea for Sundrop(and by extension Moondrop). What if a young adult reader entered the daycare. Not because they needed to stay there but because they want to see Sundrop who's been taking care of them since they were little. The two of them always had a huge bond. The reader's parents never really spent time with the reader and kind of neglected them always ignoring thwm or pushing them onto someone else so the reader would often find themselves spending long ours at the pizza plex after school and the reader felt like Sundrop and Moondrop were better parents then their biological ones but all of a sudden they stopped going around age 10 because they moved. Sundrop and Moondrop had a tearful goodbye with the reader. Now they're an adult and living independently they took a trip to relive the experience they had at the pizza plex and to see Sundrop and Moondrop again, going to the daycare. Sun at first doesn't recognize them but after he does it's a tearful(figurative in Sun's and Moon's case) reuinion.
Here you are, dude! So sorry this took forever, I went through like, five drafts before finally picking one 😅😂 but here it is!!
Sun and Moon as Parents (but to Reader this time)
~~~~~
"Sign there, there, and there."
The height of the stack of safety waivers you had to sign for a simple weekly pass to the Mega Pizzaplex was highly concerning, to say the least, but you elected to ignore the bad feeling in your gut. You'd basically spent your whole childhood in the Daycare, you doubted you were going to manage to, as the papers put, 'suffer loss of limb, life, or brain matter' in a single week.
Besides, you were excited. And nervous. But you pushed that second feeling down and away, too, scribbling a final signature down before handing the papers back to the robot working the passes desk.
"Thank you, paying customer. Pass is being deposited." The robot stuck out its hand, and a colorful, plastic card was printed out of its palm. "Please take your pass, and have a Faztastic day."
"Thanks, mate." You said, taking the pass and offering the robot a smile and a wave.
The robot said nothing, but indicated for you to wait with one finger, knelt down, grabbed something, and then offered out its closed hand to you. Curiously, you held your own hand out underneath, and it deposited two circular pins into your palm- Sun and Moon.
"Oh- oh, shit, thank you." You said, staring wide-eyed at the pins before back up at the robot. "How did-?"
"Next customer, please." The robot interrupted, no longer looking at you, and you blinked at it, taken aback, before shrugging and moving out of the way.
Well, that was… odd, but you weren't complaining. Once you had pushed through the turnstiles, you made your way to an unoccupied section of bench, slinging your backpack off as you sat down.
You affixed the pins to the cloth of the pack, right next to the pins of their generic counterparts. Once done, you smiled down at them fondly, before turning to look up towards the right-side escalators.
Even after all these years, you still knew all the routes in and out of the Superstar Daycare. It was so close- up the escalators, to the right, down the hall, through the shutters, and down the slide- but you couldn't go yet. It was twelve thirty-two, which meant it was snack time, about to be nap time.
Moon had always been grumpy with adults who interrupted nap time, shushing them and sending them away before returning to you all. You didn't want to bother him or Sun while they were working, and besides, you didn't have any children with you- be a bit odd to show up to a daycare as a lone adult.
Nah, you'd wait until just before closing at six. It wasn't like there was any shortage of things to do, either- you'd been saving up for this for awhile, and treated yourself to a VIP pass; unlimited access to all attractions and arcade games, and you intended to take full advantage of the offerings.
For the next few hours, you did just that, immersing and distracting yourself with lights and sounds, arcade beeps and blended crowd chatter and rock music.
At present, you were wandering around the arcade with a mess of tickets under one arm, looking for any particular game to jump out and catch your eye, when an announcement startled you out of your idle search.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the time is now five fifty, the Superstar Daycare will be closing in ten minutes. I repeat, the Superstar Daycare will be closing in ten minutes. Please come and pick up your children, if you have not already. Fazbear Entertainment can not be held liable for lost or…"
"Oh, shit, I'm gonna be late." You muttered, beginning to jog for the exit. A group of young kids emerged from between a row of arcade machines, chattering amongst themselves, and you strode towards them. "Hey guys, I gotta run and can't turn these in. Want 'em?"
The kids stopped, surprised, looked at the tickets, then amongst themselves, then back at you, faces breaking out in grins. "Hell yeah. Thanks." One of the girls said, sticking out her arms. You handed them over, then booked it for the exit, hearing them begin to squabble over the bounty behind you.
You made it to the Daycare hallway just a minute before it closed, passing a line of parents and older siblings carrying or pulling along young toddlers and babies. One toddler was fussing, reaching out with little hands to the brightly painted shutter over their parent's shoulder. The parent was ignoring their child's upset babbling, mouth drawn and eyes dull, and annoyance flashed to life as you passed them. Would it kill you to comfort your kid?
You knew you were projecting, the situation all too similar to your own- maybe the parent was exhausted, maybe this was a habit of the child, but still, you couldn't help feeling more sympathetic for the child.
You shook it off and continued down the hall to the shutters, thankfully still open. Voices floated through, and you hurried to get closer, until one voice, louder and distinct from the rest, made you stop in your tracks.
"...oh, she's always an absolute delight to have, Ms. Tilley. So creative!"
"...Sun?" You whispered as you padded closer to the open shutters, spotting him. His head turned from the woman and child in front of him, to you, making you freeze, and he tilted his head, but then the woman asked him something and his attention snapped right back to them.
"Absolutely!" He crouched down to the child's level, holding out his arms, and the little girl embraced him, squeezing him tight. "Aww. Mr. Moony and I will miss you too, Sam! But we'll see you soon, alright? Mr. Moony says sleep well!"
He chuckled and stood, taking the girl up with him, and handed her off to her mother, waving them goodbye. The pair returned the gesture and headed your way, and that's when Sun stepped forward and looked directly at you.
"Well, hi there, friend! Can I help you?" He called. "Do you have a little superstar enrolled with us, or do you perhaps need directions?"
He didn't recognize you. Made sense, it had been over a decade, and you were an adult now. But it still hurt a little- he and Moon had practically raised you, after all.
But would that mean anything to them? They'd probably half-raised plenty of neglected kids; daycares were notorious for that sort of thing, and Sun and Moon cared for hundreds, probably thousands of kids a month. This was- this was stupid. He probably didn't even remember that far back. Maybe you should just leave.
Anxiety and crushed hope left a bitter taste in your mouth when you spoke. "S-Sorry, I was just… looking for the bathroom."
"Oh, I see! Right back down the hall on your left, friend." Sun said, sounding slightly distant. Probably tired of dealing with dumb adults like me all day.
"Thanks." You said, offering a lame wave and turning to leave. You'd made it maybe ten steps before your name- your full name was called, hesitantly, quietly, but curiously.
You stopped, looked over your shoulder, a little bit of hope rising in your chest. "Yeah?"
"Is that… really you?" Sun asked, taking a step forward, then another.
You smiled, turned fully around. "It's really me."
Sun gasped, then began to hop up and down, giggling and clapping his hands. "Firefly! I haven't seen you in- in years! C'mere c'mere c'mere-"
You laughed and ran over to him, backpack thumping on your back. He extended his arms out, and you eagerly took the hug, sending you both staggering a bit and making you giggle. His arms embraced you, and he squeezed you tight, before he took your shoulders and pulled away, looking you up and down.
"Oh, Firefly, it's really you! Look at you!" Sun exclaimed, before he abruptly straightened, one large thumb brushing wet across your cheek. "Oh, oh, little comet, why are you crying?"
"Happy tears." You assured him with a wobbly smile, letting out a choked laugh before hugging him again. "I missed you two."
"...We missed you, too." Sun whispered, returning the hug.
"For a second there, I thought you'd forgotten me." You said, covering the pang of hurt with a joking tone, but suddenly he was pulling back, holding your face in his and gazing up at you from where he knelt.
"We never forgot about you, little comet. I promise." He said, sincere as anything. "Why, we watched you grow up! I just didn't recognize you at first, because, my goodness, you're an adult now! Look at you!"
"I am." You chuckled, rubbing away the tears with the back of your sleeve. "Got my own apartment, have a college degree, pay taxes, and everything."
"You do?" He shrieked excitedly, leaping up and catching you by surprise. "I'm so, so proud of you! Oh, you've got to tell us all about it, come on-"
And that's how you found yourself sitting in a colorful chair now far too small for you, in the Daycare that hadn't changed since you'd left for the last time, recounting the past decade of your life to Sun over a plastic tea set. His tea parties had been your favorite when you were little, and you found your heart swelling with appreciation whenever he poured more imaginary tea from the red teapot into your yellow daisy-patterned cup. Such a little gesture, but you'd thought maybe he wouldn't, given that you were no longer little, yet he showed absolutely no hesitation in doing so, and it made you happy beyond words.
But there was one difference that had stuck out to you since you'd first walked into the Daycare lobby- Sun, himself. His clothes were worn, with grey stains, stubbornly lingering after what must have been dozens of repeated washes. His casings and rays, vibrant yellows and oranges in your memory, were now pale, revealing scratches and smudges and even hairline cracks. It looked like he hadn't been washed in weeks, or repainted in years.
A horrible thought occurred to you. You'd done some research on the Pizzaplex before making the long trip over, and noticed the negative reviews piling up for the Daycare. Going back, Sun and Moon had always had a handful of bad reviews; typically relating either to their perceived gender or appearance (as if either one was somehow their fault), but as of late, parents had been focused on the two's worn-down casings and even behavior. If the cash flow stopped… somehow, you doubted FazCo would be putting Sun and Moon into a nice retirement home.
Your heart squeezed, and you reached out to take his hand, your previous sentence trailing off. You looked down at his fingers, seeing the scratches went all the way down to the endoskeleton knuckles. There were nicks in the wires, and some were wrapped up in electrical tape. "Sun… what are you and Moon going to do, you know, in the… the future?"
"What do you mean, Superstar?" Sun asked innocently, taking a pretend sip from his blue cornflower cup. The plastic cup rattled slightly against his silicone teeth, and you frowned as he cleared his non-existent throat and set it down.
"You know what I mean."
"I certainly don't." Sun insisted with a chuckle, though he shifted his hand in yours, and began to write something with his thumb into your palm, distracting you from his next words. "But anyway! Where were we? Ah, right…"
s… c… p… e…
He stopped, thumb circling idly thrice, before restarting.
E… s… c… a… p… e.
You looked up at him, wide-eyed, and his words stuttered as he urgently tapped your palm, before writing something out much more quickly.
C-a-m-e-r-a-s.
You nodded, forcing a neutral expression and not allowing yourself to glance around for them. W… h… e… n… ?
While he chattered on about the day's activities, he wrote into your palm, giving the basics of the plan he and Moon had concocted- sneak out through the roof escape hatch they'd broken the lock on, then secure shelter and get the other animatronics out.
They hadn't found good shelter yet, though. They needed a lot of electricity, you knew that much.
You hesitated, listening to him talk a minute or two more, concentrating on nodding and smiling enough to look natural on the cameras, then switched focus and quickly wrote into his palm.
W-a-n-t-s-t-a-y-w-i-t-h-m-e-?
Sun's head snapped towards you, blinking owlishly before his rays began to pop in and out excitedly.
A…r…e…y…o…u…s…u…r…e…?
"Absolutely." You whispered, squeezing his hand before beginning to write out your address.
~~~~~
"Hey, I'm going out!"
You waited patiently by the door for a reply, gaze landing on the framed photos that filled the wall beside it. You smiled, before turning to look in the general direction of the kitchen when you heard Sun reply.
"Okie-dokie! Where ya headed to, Firefly?"
"Uh, just to the local coffee shop, meeting a friend." You replied, your face warming despite yourself.
Moon's head popped out from the kitchen- you'd brought them enough parts to build them a separate body years ago- and he looked you up and down, eyes glinting in a way you'd come to understand meant amusement.
"A 'friend', hm?" He asked, and the heat in your face doubled.
"N-" You began pointedly, but you were interrupted by Sun's excited shriek.
"You're going on a date!?" He exclaimed, bounding out of the kitchen to scoop you up. "Oh, you've got to tell us all about them! What's their name, what are they like? Where'd you two meet? At work, or-?"
"Sunny, they're going to be late." Moon said, and you shot him a grateful look as Sun set you down with a gasp, immediately taking to smoothing your outfit out.
"Oh, oh, yes, you're right. Sorry, Superstar! I just got so, so excited! But I'll save my questions for later, you go on now!"
"And be safe." Moon added, before disappearing back into the kitchen. "Text us if you need. And no fooling around."
"Dad." You said, amused and exasperated. "It's a first date! At a coffee shop!"
"Aw, he's just worried about you, Firefly!" Sun assured, giving you one last pat across your shoulders. "And so am I! Drive safely, okay? And text us when you get there, and when you're leaving?"
"I know, I know- and I will, I promise." You said, wrapping your arms around him in a tight embrace. He hugged you even tighter, gently bopping his faceplate against the top of your head with a loud mwah.
"Thank you, Superstar." He said, before abruptly letting go and spinning you, pushing you towards the door and making you laugh in surprise. "Now go, go, go! You want to make a good impression so you cangetmarriedandgiveusgrandkids!"
"Sorry, what was that last part?" You asked, mortified, but Sun just made an unsure noise as you stumbled out onto the porch.
"Hm? Oh, I'm sure I didn't say anything. Love you, be safe, have fun~!"
You hadn't even made it to the car yet, and you were already dying of embarrassment- but you had to admit, you thought as you cast one last smile at the front door before opening the car, it was nice to be looked out for.

Chapter 2
Sleeping In The Sun
You were desperate for a job so you applied to be the daycare Attendants handler! you have no clue what you're signing yourself into but at least you don't have to pay rent now!
Moon hates you, Sun doesn't know how to feel about you and you're just trying to survive.
——————————————————————————
Grabbing my car key and grabbing the security card. Picking up my duffle bag and suitcase I’m now ready to start my job, kind of. I still gotta settle in and all that shit but from the schedule i got sent, today i'll be getting a quick little introduction while being led to the living space. After that I was told that I'm free to walk around and get familiar with the pizza plex. I'll probably explore the daycare though since I'll be working there.
I shuffle my playlist and start driving, seeing the quietness of the outskirts to the slight louder and busier environment of downtown. Then finally i see it, my one true love, my everything, my light, its the fucking pizzaplex. I find a parking spot in some sort of dark edge of the parking lot where its next to the building and covered by some branches and overall seems like a dark corner where you think you'll find a dead rat. Luckily i didn't find a dead rat, if i did i would be crying on the floor with a dead rat in front of me. I dont like seeing bead animals they make me so fucking sad that ill puke. Speaking of piukeing why are the doors to the pizzaplex so fucking big, its gigantic, a whole elephant can fit throught these doors.
Walking past the humungus doors I'm greeted by the eye sore of colours the place has to offer. Ever wanted to remind yourself of all the colours possible, well this place is the place for you. Looking around I see a little robot thing making its way over to me, it's got a cute little pink bow and everything.
“Hello, I'll be your escort and guide for today!”
Cute, like really cute. This robot had the voice of a cheerful and bubbly person, its pretty comforting not gonna lie. I smile and wave at the little robot.
“My name is Daisy! I'm an accessibility assistant, I'm assigned for audio descriptive tours when a kid needs them, but today I'll be guiding you to your new home! Just follow me over to the right of the escalators!”
I follow behind Daisy, she holds a resemblance to the staff bots that lurk around but her cute little pink bow helps differ her from the others. A simple design for an important job, beautiful. Daisy leads me to an area right from the escalators. It's pretty reserved and hidden and very much in the dark.
“This area is pretty secluded? It also feel very omunis.'' I say walking up to a red door that has some sort of weird looking lock on it. It doesn't have any way of putting in a code or even a keyhole, all it has is a small screen and a handle. That's it, a screen, and a silver handle.
“This is your living space! You just have to use your security card to enter inside! I was told that you'll have to go through another door to officially enter your new home and lucky you, you're the only person who has access to it. Meaning i can't go in with you and show you around your home but i'm sure you're smart enough to do that yourself. Well before i leave i'll tell you something that i have been instructed to inform you about, inside your living corders there is an elevator, that elevator will allow you access to the daycare and to the lower grounds, specifically the area near Parts and Services. Welcome back to Fazbear Entertainment and have a faztastic day!”
And off she goes, wheeling her way away. I just looked at her moving away and once she was out of sight she was out of mind. Turning back to facing that eye straining red door, why the fuck is it so bright, i wonder if i could repaint it at somepoint. Maybe to a grey or some sort of green, kind of like that go-away green in disney parks.
Crazy. I put my suitcase and duffle bag down and reached into my back pocket pulling out my security card. I tried swiping my card on the top of the screen, but that doesn’t work. Next I try slapping the card on the screen, that shit doesn’t work. Maybe if I pretend to use the force the stupid door will open. How the fuck do I open this door, why the fuck does there have to be many ways to open the door. Tough love won’t work so maybe some soft love will work.
Tapping the security card on the screen, the door automatically opens. It was an easy and a solution I probably should have figured out with the power of common sense but me being me was too stubborn and dumb to use my brain power and properly open the door. I pick up my duffel bag and grab my suitcase dragging it along with me as I enter the small room. The door closes behind me and I’m greeted by a dark red room with a single ceiling light that was enough to light up the whole room.
There is a long brown couch, it’s a little soft to the touch and on one side there’s a bright blue crescent moon pillow and on the other side sits a bright yellow sun pillow. Right away the centre is a light grey star pillow that honestly looks really huggable at this very moment. Looking around some more I notice a counter top that has a black mini fridge and multiple baskets filled with all sorts of snacks and a coffee maker. There was also a sort of gift basket that has my name on it, looking inside I see that it has a bottle of blueberry wine? That’s something interesting, I mean I’m sure it’ll taste hella good but I’ve never seen blueberry wine, also who the hell even made this thing now that I think about it. When did they have the time to even build all this? Who put those chocolate oranges inside the basket?
I sigh, like obnoxiously sighed, all these questions will probably never get answered no matter how much I wish it all would. On the note with my name on it it says “Welcome back to Fazbear Entertainment!” Peachy. I look at the other eye bleeding red door.
“I guess this is the entrance into my living place. Through the red fucking door i go, maybe ill end up in fucking narnia or some shit”
I let go of my suitcase to open the door, I switched the duffle bag to my right hand and reached for the suitcase before letting the door close behind me. I settle my stuff next to the coat hanger that's conveniently placed right next to the door. Slipping my shoes off and I look around the place. It's much larger than my old apartment, the left side was a living room, pretty plain and empty aside from another couch, a brown coffee table, a TV on of course a tv stand, and two huge ass bookshelves. Fucking perfect, now i got two big ass bookshelves to fit all my books in.
To my left is the ketchen, it's fully furnished which is pretty great. From the first look I notice how the whole place is quite literally sun, moon, and stars theme. It’s pretty neat not gonna lie, I love space and all that shit. Next to the kitchen is a door to what I’ll assume is the office since the door is labeled as “Office”. I pick up my stuff and walk into what I assume is my room, it’s hella big. The bed in here is HUGE. It's a big round circular bed, like who did they expect to sleep on that thing, three huge ass people? Again everything is celestial themed, the whole bed, the rug that’s on the floor, the night stand, the lamp, and the closet. There’s also all my moving boxes in here along with more big bookshelves and a really nice looking vanity.
I notice another door and all I’m going to assume is that the door leads to the bathroom, but I’m too tired to keep exploring instead I want to leave this place and explore the daycare! Dropping my duffel bag on my bed and leaving my suitcase in the room I leave. Noticing the elevator between the bedroom and the office and ran to get my shoes and put them on and run back to the elevator.
“Time to get familiar with Superstar Daycare.”
I whisper to myself before entering the elevator.
——————————————————————————
Last chapter, Chapter 3 will be out in 2-3 weeks. I’ll post some concept drawing for the Daycare Attendant Uniform!!

Here it is, over a month late! Sorry for the delay Cero <3
"It hurts so much. Why does it hurt so much? I just want it to stop."
Angst, very slight Hurt/Comfort. Content warnings for: Body horror, mention of severe burns, medical trauma? Kind of.
Thick. Heavy. Choking.
Smoke billowed through the air, urged upward by towering pillars of flame, as a figure dragged itself on staggering limbs through the debris. In their arms, a loose jumble of limbs and a heaving chest, breath ragged and desperately clinging to life. Silicon fingers brushed against a pulse, finding it weak and wavering. A fluttering eyelid offered a startling flash of white as eyes rolled, unseeing and agonized.
“No. No, no-”
“Help them. We can still help them.”
A fresh burst of panic caused their circuits to pulse with newfound energy, forcing the figure to surge forwards. They forged a clumsy path around plummeting pillars and fire-warped mounds of plastic, sparking eyes focused on the haze of lights that blinked in and out of existence. The lights marked the twists and turns of each hallway, guiding them through the inferno.
The tannoy followed them through each room. Its tinny words were slowly warping from the heat, voice fading in and out as it looped the emergency announcement.
“An announcement for all esteemed guests at the Pizzaplex. For your safety, please make your way to the marked emergency exits. Our friendly staff will be there to personally escort you. Fazbear accepts no responsibility for any trampling, severe burns, smoke inhalation, or death that may be sustained during your evacuation attempt. Hope to see you again soon, and have a Faztastic day!”
Fallen pillars/planks of wood stand between them and the door, making a frantic hiss of static burst from their faceplate. Hands grasp at the material, fingers digging and cracking the cement and steel, as two other arms keep the fading form cradled close to their chest. A desperate wrench and twist of muscles. A slow, almost-wet rip and crack from the pillar. It split messily down the middle and was tossed aside by restless arms.
They step inside.
The sealed halls of parts & service are refreshingly clear of the hazy smoke that rolls through the pizzaplex, but the doors are already beginning to breach up ahead, flashes of molten orange and red shimmering through the weakening seals. The figure pauses for only a moment to take in the destruction before they press forward, unoccupied arms grasping fitfully at the crevices of the walls, hauling themselves onwards with ardent desperation.
Anxious fingers can’t keep themselves from tracing over ash-dyed hair, from flitting across glistening, weeping burn wounds. Like a moth drawn to a dying flame, they keep searching for that sweet, slowing pulse. Every time they find it, it’s a little slower and softer. The fear of that alone is enough to keep them going.
A final barrier, the door to the inner chambers of parts & services open with minimum resistance. The figure spills inside, almost dropping their precious cargo on the floor. Limbs fumble and a voicebox hisses as they right themselves, clenching tight enough around soft, smarting flesh to earn an agonised whine.
Their core lurches.
“Sorry- So sorry, starlight-”
“It will be alright. They’ll be safe, soon.”
There is no resistance as the body is placed on the leather chair, straps hissing softly as they’re tugged and tightened into place.
There’s plenty to work with, here. More than they could have hoped.
But even with nothing, they’ll save you.
They’ll save you.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A gasp wrenches itself from your lips as you wake with a start, bolting upright.
Agony is the first sense to seize you, crawling in lava-hot pinpricks up raw, tender nerves. You feel like you’re locked in a horrible vice, your entire body shoved into a suit ten sizes too small, biting and nipping at your body.  It’s unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. Every pulse of pain that courses through your veins is somehow more brutal than the last.
Blue and orange sparks of light arc across your vision as you wrench your eyes open, left unable to speak from the pain that rips every last breath from your lungs. You try to fling yourself off of the chair, animal instincts screaming at you to run from the source.
A twitching hand holds you fast. Their touch barely breaches the numb wall erected around your nerves, and it takes being brought to a sudden stop to realize it’s even there. You cry out, fighting against it until someone hisses your name in a burst of static.
You freeze. Your eyes shift to the source of the sound.
A trembling, shock-numbed mouth fumbles around the words “Sun..? Moon-?”
The animatronic that hunches over your form, keeping your hand clutched tightly between their own, is a sight to behold. A roughshod amalgamation of parts, each twitching joint and creaking bolt seemingly at odds with itself. A half-singed nightcap swings from sparking sunrays. Oil drips from the spiderweb of cracks and fissures all over their chassis, wires exposed, dragging and pulsing and visceral, steaming guts in technicolor.
They hang over you, poised and purposeful. As if you were a precious thing, fragile and liable to fall apart the second their watchful gaze falters. The coiling stretch of their smile brims with a raw, earnest kind of relief, and you find your own lips twitching in response. Their delight at seeing you alive and whole is palpable. Despite the pain, despite the horror of seeing them like this, as gnarled and twisted as you feel on the inside, you feel slightly more at ease.
“I…” A wave of brain fog rolls over you, the relentless press of light boring right into your eyes. You screw up your face against it, gathering the strength to continue. “Where are we? What- What happened, here?”
A jagged purr, servos clicking as they lean closer to respond. The sound that seeps out from them coats your ears in inky black, sickly and stifling. Twin voices wind and twist around one another, churning and choking each other out in turn, distinct and distorted all at once.
“Nothing to worry about, Sunshine-”
“Worry not, Starlight-”
“You’re safe now”
“With us-
“With us-”
“Nothing can hurt you-
“There is nothing that can hurt you-”
“Not while we’re here.”
“Here with you.”
But something is hurting you. Your shock-addled brain is sending insistent pulses through your body with every heartbeat. Slowly, despite your brain trailing a stream of protests, you look down.
Tears fill your eyes.
You work your lips soundlessly, unable to vocalise the mounting horror that digs with ice-cold fingers into your chest.
The rusting metal encases your limbs like a beetle’s carapace, embedded deep and greedy in your skin like swollen, skittering parasites.
“What did you do?” The words tumble from your lips in a clumsy avalanche, your untouched left hand tracing a trembling path over the metal coating of the right, trying to feel something- Anything- Any kind of sensation that wasn’t dulled and inhuman. The roiling panic in your gut swiftly heats into anger, overflowing your chest until it explodes outward into a roar
“What did you do?”
You look down at yourself, abject horror already beginning to seize your gut. The creeping path of metal is an invasion, claiming quarter over the soft flesh that was once healthy and whole but is now marred with scars and discoloration from the burns.
It is devouring its way up your arms, and your legs - it has even completely replaced your right hand. You have been invaded by silicon and steel, and your body no longer feels as it once did. You are not wholly robotic like the watchful presence beside you, but even worse - you are no longer human.
You are adrift between two natures. Lost in a sea of ambiguity and violations of the natural order.
And the pain…
Oh, the pain.
You could not find the words to describe it.
It is beyond sense. Beyond measure. It is so abject it pushes through the limitations of sensation itself, crossing the borderline between pleasure and pain until it becomes almost a relief, a reprieve from its own agony. It coalesces and coils on itself like ouroboros, devouring and being devoured in measure. it is transcendent.
It leaves you screaming in a thin, reedy wail, lungs still feeling the impact of smoke inhalation. It is too much for you to bear, and four metallic hands hold you in a loose vice of a hug as you rock back and forth against your bindings, wailing piteously, begging for a relief that simply refuses to come.
"It hurts", you moan.
"We know," they reply. "We are sorry. We are sorry it hurts."
"It hurts," you cry again, their very touch burning your skin even more than the flames did.  Terse static fills the air around you, almost seeming to dig into your nerves like burrowing beetles in carrion.
"Star-"
"Sunlight-"
"You have to understand", they purr in unison, voices laden with regret. With an agonized sorrow that should be unnatural for them. For those two voices. "It was the only way to save you, to keep you from harm-"
"Save me?" You howl, “Save me?”
"You call this saving-? Look at me." A shaky hand gestures over you, fingers coiled, stiff, and gnarled like dead leaves. Your other fist clenches, heavy and useless as a stone in your lap.
"Look at me." You say it again, raising your eyes, still swimming with that blue and orange light as you glower at them once more. Their hands clench uselessly in their lap, unsure of whether to touch you or to retreat. You grit it out for a third time, each syllable laced with a desperate, distraught venom.
"Look at me. I'm a monster. I'm- I don't even know whose body this is. Did you scavenge this? Is this- Some other bot? Am I wearing someone's corpse, right now? Is that what this is?"
"No, no-!" they both rush to say it, voices rolling and running over one another as they fight to be the first to speak out. "Not at all, star- You're no monster. You're still- You, still our dear friend, so kind and good-"
You can only coil away from them, your body rigid and set. Stiff.
"Get away from me."
The sound of frantic clicking, like someone trying to clear a clenching throat.
"Friend, please, we-"
Their head twitches to the left, torn nightcap danging pathetically from fragmented sun rays. "No.” This voice is softer, speaking in a rustling, silvery sigh. “They’re right, Sun. Look. We’re hurting them.”
The fractured faceplate shifts from one side to the other, rocking in an invisible tide. The light in their eyes has dimmed, gaze distant, looking at something just out of your field of view. Fingertips tap together nervously, jerking once or twice as if wrestling with the urge to pull you close again, to soothe you where words could not.
The weight of an entire world rests in your lungs. Your chest rises against it, fighting to draw breath. Through the persistent chittering scratch of raw nerves, you can feel something else. A thin, faint thrumming. The whisper-song of servos, coursing through the alien parts of you. Searching for a nervous system made of wires and code, instead of veins and grey matter.
Your next words come out far more raggedly than you would like.
"It hurts so much. Why-? Why would you do this to me?”
A keening, frayed whine is their only response. Your head slumps back against the unfeeling leather of the operating chair, sending another pulse of pain through your patchwork body.
“I just want…. I just want it to stop. Please.”
Your searching eyes fall on them, on the way they lurch to their feet, a hand reaching out to you in abrupt panic before remembering itself. You ignore the stammering buzz of protest, the warning growl, as you spare another glance down at the mess they’ve made of you.
A body that is not yours stares back, each bolt and seam of silver and steel hissing that this is wrong. It should never have been yours. Flesh and aloy were not made to meet, not like this, crossing boundaries with a kind of brutality that makes you feel sick down to your bones.
A tear slips down your cheek, wet and warm, cresting over the plate of metal grafted clumsily over your jaw. You swallow. It echoes through your skull. Your voice comes out in a hoarse whisper.
“Please, make it stop.”
The pain in their eyes almost seems to match your own.
Their next words take a moment to register, vibrations trying to push through the pain that buzzes through your entire nervous system.
"No, little star. We can't do that. We're sorry."
Your next breath freezes in your lungs.
"What-? What do you mean, no? You can't leave me like this." You thrash against your bindings once more, shackles jingling like the chain on a trapped dog. "You can't do this to me! Please, please- Don't leave me like this!" Your voice is the hysterical trill of a bird with a broken wing, dragging itself fitfully on the ground as it thrashes in fresh throes of agony.
They speak over your ragged sobs, as your head slumps over your chest. A shaky, sparking hand reaches out to tilt your face upward, stroking away the tears that continue to fall.
"We won't lose you, Starlight. Not like this."
"We can't let you go. Not while you're still breathing. Still so bright, so full of life-"
You spit out your words in a broken hiss, each syllable sizzling hot and sour.
"You don't understand- You can’t understand how much this hurts. The kind of hell I'm living in. You can't do this to me. It isn't living, it's- It's-”
The words are slipping from your tongue, slipping from your mind. Sparks and static fill the empty space, crushing any semblance of self under each rolling wave of pressure.
Sun- Moon’s- Both of their fingers tip-tap together again, punctuating the brief, frantic ticking of their servos as they struggle to assemble some desperate, miraculous reassurance that will save your mind from spiraling.
"We would do anything to keep you with us, little star.”
The guilt-laced words ring through your head like a klaxon, almost drowning out the growled promise that follows.
“Anything.”
Torn asunder in the burning wreckage, you weep. You can’t even feel their warmth on your cheeks anymore.
Ripped apart and cobbled together again, lost in the bowels of a destroyed empire, you mourn yourself. The life you once had, that you’ll never see again. And through it all, those arms hold you.
They’re the only thing keeping you from falling apart.
