What made me ship maxwil. Sorry this is really just a jumbled mess JKNKJN but hope u enjoy reading it anyway. Under a cut because its too fucking long

Wilson and Maxwell are don’t starve’s main characters. They show up in the original game’s intro movie together. 

Maxwell speaks to Wilson on the radio, offers him a deal, and Wilson takes it. 

Now, think about that- Wilson, with no hesitation, takes a stranger’s dubious offer from a radio that is NOT supposed to be two-ways. He ruins his life without even thinking about it. 

This shows us how DESPERATE Wilson is for human contact. 

Wilson lives alone in a house, far away from his family who hates him, and not a single friend. Some might say Wilson doesn’t like people. But what i see is a person who ADORES people, being forced to be apart from them (exactly like maxwell) because no one will take him seriously. Wilson is working this hard because he is convinced if he just makes one good invention, has one big break, then people will finally respect and like him. It’s not just that he wants knowledge for knowledge’s sake.

He has someone offering him exactly what he wants, and it’s not just the offer, it’s the fact someone is talking to him. Wilson wants someone to listen to him, and believe in him, and that is JUST as important as the knowledge, if not more so. Maxwell has complete faith in Wilson’s ability to make this portal. Wilson trusts maxwell more than anyone else, simply because he’s gotten the smallest bit of positive attention. 

That makes his betrayal absolutely crushing for Wilson. Wilson is the only person who explicitly says he hates maxwell in the first game. He feels betrayed much more personally than maxwell intended, he’s furious, and he finds out maxwell didn’t actually believe in him the way he thought. Wilson is forced once again to completely rely on himself. Wilson likes himself and believes in himself a lot, but he sort of has to. No one else will. And that’s a hard thing to deal with.

Wilson goes through the worlds, because he wants out, obviously. He is the only one to canonly reach the end of adventure mode. Wickerbottom may think he’s an idiot, but he’s the one who made it to the end of the line, not her. 

Wilson is likely expecting a boss fight here, or something, but what he gets is a sad, frail old man who is suicidal and has nothing. Maxwell has completely given up. When you free max, it says “take pity?” Wilson does. Wilson KNOWS this will end badly for him. Wilson KNOWS he’s not going to get anything in return. But Wilson frees him, because Wilson is unequivocally GOOD. Wilson cares about people, deeply, and would do anything for them. Wilson does not like to see people suffer, and Wilson will take on the pain for himself if he can. Maxwell has hurt him more than anyone, but Wilson still takes his place. 

Now if we look at this from Maxwell’s perspective: Wilson is just another person to trick into coming here. Maxwell is putting on a show, using all his charisma, doing what They brought him here for. It’s the same as everyone else. 

Something interesting about adventure mode is that maxwell does NOT want you to continue. He does his absolute best to keep you from getting to the end. Scaring you, killing you, bribing you. You think it’s cruelty or fear of you at first glance, but really: maxwell does NOT want you to suffer the way he does. 

Maxwell brings you here, puts you in a terrible world, but in his mind, NOTHING is worse than the throne. Look at him on the throne and look at him as a survivor- on the throne he has nothing but despair and the desire to die. As a survivor, he’s extremely peppy in comparison. The throne has ruined maxwell, and even though he’s past the point of caring if you come to the constant, he does NOT want to be the reason someone else is on the throne. 

But is the door itself a cry for help? Was that a subconscious thing maxwell did? Charlie doesn’t have an adventure mode. She seems quite happy on the throne. Or is it because the Them are tired of maxwell? Compare Charlie’s world to Maxwell’s: considerably harder. Charlie’s world may allow you to revive yourself, but Maxwell’s is objectively easier. Less bosses, less danger, more resources. Maxwell also tries to give you a world you can have everything you need in in adventure mode, which is THE BEST he can do for you- something probably only allowed because the Them know the survivors won’t take his offer. 

When you get to the throne, despite being in absolute mental agony, maxwell cannot make himself trick you into freeing him. Which he COULD. He could pretend the key will let you out, he could pretend it’s something he REALLLY doesn’t want you to do because oooooo its gonna free youuuu and send you to earthhhh. But he cannot allow himself to do that, because this is the last bit of kindness and humanity he has- giving you the knowledge that the throne is the worst fate possible here. He clearly doesn’t think you are going to do it until you do- he’s shocked and thrilled when he stands up. 

Wilson frees him, knowing everything, after everything, and that SHOCKS him. Maxwell considers Wilson his savior. He owes everything to him. 

They don’t see each other again until cyclum. Wilson attacks maxwell, and while some people may think it’s because he’s angry, i think it’s because he SAW maxwell die and assume it’s either an insanity hallucination come to kill him or a new monster come to trick him. When max doesn’t attack when Wilson stops, he stops. 

Now, there are a lot of things Wilson could do. He could leave, he could kill him, he could ignore him. But Wilson feeds him. Maxwell is TOTALLY FINE. Max can get food himself. And food is a valuable resource. Wilson chooses to feed maxwell, because Wilson is good. They camp together, another thing Wilson doesn’t have to do. Wilson then decides to WORK WITH MAXWELL ON A PORTAL. AGAIN. Wilson makes the ACTIVE CHOICE to trust maxwell, with NO REASON TO. 

Now, we don’t know exactly what happens when the other survivors get there, but it stands to reason Wilson protects and defends max against the other survivors. Even though the portal failed AGAIN, and its possible max was fucking with him AGAIN. Wilson CHOSES to trust Max, even with evidence that could imply otherwise. 

If we look at the quotes, Wilson banters with max a lot, and can be annoyed with him. But when max is dead, Wilson explicitly reassures him he’s already working on reviving him. 

Maxwell, like Wilson, thrives on attention. He needs it, even if its negative. It’s easier for him to be someone to hate than just a sad man to pity. His persona- where he misses the throne and being king, is a lazy asshole, and hates everyone- is just that, a persona. Max is an actor, after all. He and wigfrid have this in common: he cannot handle being HIMSELF because being himself is terrifying. He doesn’t have anything as himself. He’s nothing as himself. I don’t think mentally he would be able to handle it! And Wilson knows this.

Maxwell also, when Wilson dies, asks if he really wants to come back. I think this is the only way he can think of to try to make up for bringing him here. It’s not much, but Wilson wouldn’t feel pain any more. Of course Wilson wouldn’t accept that, but maxwell offers because it’s the only thing he can think of.

Wilson is someone maxwell is nervous and shy around, when greeting. He’s the only one max shows explicit affection for. Like i said before, max sees Wilson as an angel, as his savior, but maxwell cannot handle it. It’s easier for him to be a huge asshole. But Wilson does not let him drive him away. 

I think the banter is something Wilson enjoys! Wilson is a sarcastic person, and he and max are intellectually equals. I think max is someone he really enjoys spending time with, as well as someone he would do anything for.

Now if we look at one of the more recent videos, with charlie, Winona, Wilson, and Max, maxwell sees charlie for the first time in a long, long time. He is frozen, but when Wilson calls him, he immediately follows him out. This shows me he puts Wilson on the same level as CHARLIE now, if not HIGHER. 

But something else that isn’t technically canon that made me ship it is this: when i played adventure mode for the first time, i got all the way to the end cutscene and died during it. I didn’t unlock max so i had to do it again. 

I restarted, and it made me think of Wilson KNOWING adventure mode was not a way out. KNOWING the end was not going to go well for him. But going through all five worlds, AGAIN, JUST to free maxwell. And that really got me to love the ship jknkjn

In conclusion maxwell and Wilson have an absolutely beautiful relationship, and it’s good.

admittedly some of this will fall apart just given this is a US show and DE is very european and i'm a us citizen and fan, so i've got a hardwired american-centric framing of mind Buuuuuutt adjustments can be made the comparisons are more the key concept and not the detail comparison

asshole addict doctor (house) - translate to pre-amnesia harrier

said doctor is an absolute brilliant genius in his field (diagnostician) - translation here being we are given the idea that harry was a genius detective; so again why we'd translate house to harry

patients come in as cases that are sudden and the diagnosis is hard to find at first

house can be mischievous around the hospital and to his co-workers; wants interesting cases, works in odd ways -> see again harry

the 41st definitely not 1:1 translating onto the rest of the cast; but the general idea of the tight-ish knit / somewhate special unit that is hired/picked out by house -> again literally harry created the unit, and house has his ducklings

reminder that the hospital that house works out; is a very specific kind of house, and that is it is a teaching hospital, so it has med students and the doctors and heads of departments do have lectures at the local university/college to the med students, and med students come to work or take residence at the teaching hospital ( house with his ducklings as its called in the fandom -> house picked them out to be on his "team" for solving and brainstorming possible diagnosis and treatments ) anyways that's where you can see that 41st' mcu woudl translate into that and dynamics aren't specifically needed as a 1:1

the people in house's "unit" and house's co-workers and "friends" are usually the ones that have to cover for house, or defend house when he does something that risk the hosptial reputation or funding (there's a whoel plot) and Cuddy & Wilson specifically get on House's case about his ethics but are also the biggest two that will fight for house as a doctor

so that's why I'd read Jean here as sort of both; since it's obvious Jean did that A LOT for Harry

and then for a small, not 1:1 comparsion ; but we meet house when he is still pining for his ex after 5 years ( it's a whole plot line in s1 ), and just interesting cause dora and harry were 6 years and that wrecked harry.. andi mean house was wrecked by it, but there was an additional layer of house's leg ( which is a big thing for the house and about house; it's why he is addicted to pain killers, because he suffered an <cant' think of word> related to his leg, and now suffers chronic pain and uses a cane and gets addicted to pain killers and i am not explaining this too well at all )

anywyas somewhat lining up is harry and house get stuck on exs and love very much; but harry definitely in a worse way since he has the whole goddess religious elevation; but house and this ex ( who comes a character and appears as a plotline for a few episodes ) just I DONT KNOW my brain is hyperfixated on Disco Elysium so the brian worms are gonna find everything they can to link everyhting bakc to disco elysium hence this whole post about house au for disco elysium

but also another reason for comparison is the kind of nihilism that house and harry exhibit and the addiction and the slight suicidal idealation

also just very surface comparison; but house has his limp in one leg, and then by the end of disco elysium harry takes the bullet to the leg, and has the limp in the leg and just IDK leg thing

it'd probably work best-ish as harry/jean-ish, though again the main relationship in the show is the friendship (that feels very queerbaity) with hilson; but i wouldnt say wilson and jean line up too well, like i said this au and coverting house core concepts to disco elysium as an idea or using house md as a sort of ground work, but the comparsions are very minimal, but anyways this would probably start with pre-apocalyptic amnesia harry, because house is a manipulative asshole and addict and that's what we can infer from the former harrier, and then s5 (spoilers) is when house's addiction starts to cause hallucinations and this could be the place for apocalyptical amnesia for good old harry to be inserted in the idea, and just i don't the basis of hilson/house is a long term friendship; and you'd see with jean/harry more so over all... compared to say kim/jean. but kim could special feature.

The kids had adored him, of course, even the ones who were usually shy about participating in new activities. A silly crush that had only grown during every subsequent field trip — which is truly absurd, considering the vast majority of their interactions at the time consisted of occasional eye contact while singing children’s songs.But now that they’ve spent hours talking almost every day for the past few weeks… calling it a silly crush might be an understatement. The idea that he’s actually been able to help Midoriya through this is inordinately pleasing.If there’s a silver lining to this at all — for him personally, at least — it’s that he’d seen Midoriya’s post requesting a virtual board game buddy. And that Midoriya is a patient enough person to teach Shouto how to play everything from scratch. He’d actually seemed excited at the opportunity.Maybe the opportunity for any sort of ongoing social interaction is worthy of excitement. These are strange times.

It all comes out in the wash by middlemarch. (G) 1.1k, Anna/Kristoff.  She'd knocked. Really, she had. It was their en suite bathroom, the room he said was over-the-top and extravagant and aggressively tiled, so it wasn't exactly her fault that she'd effectively barged in on him.

This is pulling on them in so many ways they didn't expect; laying here, on Tendou's floor, in Tendou's clothes, right down to their underwear because who expects a lockdown to get enforced overnight? They didn't bring anything much. They should have. They ought to chance going home. But they can't, so they don't. Home is an empty place right now anyway, and here there is food and laughter and music and in between all that is their realisation that they're not so over this Tendou thing after all.

Just because this one came a little bit too close to killing him first, doesn't mean that Jaskier has to get in a sulk about it. And why does he care so much, anyway?

The Fortnight by Elizabeth. (E) 7.5k, Geralt of Rivia/Jaskier.  A plague is ravaging the Northern Kingdoms. First Oxenfurt is locked down, and then Novigrad. Geralt is immune, but Jaskier isn't. Rosemary and Thyme is a pretty nice place to spend a fortnight, but it's still a long time to spend with just one person--even if that person is your best friend.A lot can happen in two weeks.

Trouble In Here by Val_Creative. (M) 2.5k,  Geralt of Rivia/Jaskier. Jaskier accidentally barricades himself into Geralt’s room when he’s been cursed, forcing them to isolate together.

House, M.D. Fanfic (11/?)

Thank you to everyone who has taken time to leave a note on my story.  I hope you continue to enjoy my kind of rewrite and/or additions to certain episodes! As always, I don't own House. If I did, Lisa Edelstein would have gotten the respect she deserved contact wise for a season 8.

As stated in previous chapters, the story follows the big picture laid out on the show, but with my own take on things. We have reached extremely bumpy road territory. Buckle up, folks. This one might sting a little.

"How long have you been sleeping with Dr. House?" Tritter asked as he took a seat in her office.

Cuddy shook her head, shocked at the question. "Why would you think I'm sleeping with House?"

Tritter got that smug smirk he got when he thought he knew something. "Only reason a smart woman like you would keep a jerk like that around. You're way out of his league."

"The only reason a dean of medicine at a teaching hospital would keep a world renowned diagnostician around is because I'm sleeping with him?"

"You haven't denied it."

"I'm not sleeping with House," she crossed her arms.

"Dr. Cuddy. The guy is an ass. He treats patients like they aren't even human. How much has he cost your hospital over the years? How much has he cost you?" He asked. "I don't understand why you're protecting him."

"Dr. House saves lives... lives that other doctors can't save. If you were dying and no one else could figure out what was wrong with you, you'd want Dr. House to be the one on your case. I'm not sleeping with him. He's just that good," she stated a little more firmly, moving to open her office door to show him out. But his words had hit a nerve, asking what he'd cost her had hit a nerve. It stuck with her.

Later that night, House laid in her bed, one hand folded under his head, his fingers sliding over her bare back. "Heard Barnaby Jones came to talk to you today."

Cuddy breathed deeply, shifting so she could prop her head on her hand and look at him. "Detective Tritter came to accuse me of sleeping with you."

"You are sleeping with me." He turned his head to look at her.

"I lied to him. I told him I wasn't."

"Why?"

"Because sleeping with you would give him a reason to believe my judgement is compromised. It would imply that I'm hiding your drug problem. Or he would accuse me of enabling your habit."

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Has sleeping with me affected your ability to practice medicine?"

"No."

"Has it compromised your ability to make professional calls where my patients or myself are concerned?"

"No, but..."

"Has your judgement been compromised? Have you been writing me scripts? Have I stolen your prescription pad? Have you been enabling my habit?"

"No..."

"Then what's the problem?" He shrugged.

"I lied to the cops!"

"You lied about sleeping with me. We've been lying to everyone else about that for months. Why are you suddenly growing a conscience about it?"

"I don't know, House, maybe because this guy has it out for you! Normally when you piss someone off, they just sue you. This guy actually has the power to get your medical license revoked and send you to jail for a long time!"

"That what you're afraid of? Don't worry, I can still place a bun in your oven. Or are conjugal visits not on your list of approved baby making fantasies?"

She sighed and moved away, turning her back to him. "Whatever you want to tell yourself, House." She was tired of fighting with him.

"You're mad at me."

"Because you're being an ass!"

"No more than usual." He thought for a moment. "This is you being hormonal..."

"I'm not pregnant, House!"

"Did you take another test?"

She sat up and looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Yes! Yes, I took a damn test! I took a damn test every time you accused me of being pregnant, and guess what... still not pregnant! You weren't right!"

"This is you being upset that you're not pregnant..." he said slowly. "Look, it's only been a few months. It doesn't mean anything..."

"6 months, House. 6. It's not happening. It's not meant to happen."

"You're giving up?"

"Yes! I tried, and I failed to get pregnant. I'm done. I'm tired of trying and being disappointed. And this...arrangement..." she gestured between them, "isn't working anymore."

He stared at her for a moment. "You're ending this?"

She was quiet for a few moments. "I guess I am."

"Because I haven't gotten you pregnant? It takes most couples years to get pregnant, and you're giving up in 6 months?"

"Save it, House... you're just trying to protect your regular supply of free sex. Sorry, looks like it's back to hookers. I'm sure you've still got all their numbers."

"I don't care about the sex! I do care about you!" He was a little surprised those feelings had slipped out mid-argument. Judging by the look on her face, so was she. "Why are you so willing to give up on something that you've wanted for a long time just because it's a little hard getting there?"

She sighed softly. "Because you can't always get what you want."

"Yeah, quoting a song lyric... that's a real response," he countered. "And in case you forgot, it ends with 'You get what you need.'"

"Yeah...I'm not getting that either." She was quiet for another moment. "Goodnight, House."

House walked into his friend's office and sat down silently. "I've been sleeping with Cuddy," he said after several minutes.

The revelation caused Wilson to pause his reading, but he didn't look up, clearly not buying it. "House, hallucinations mean you've taken too much Vicodin."

House shook his head. "I'm not hallucinating. Cuddy and I have been having hot monkey sex."

Wilson just stared at him, trying to decide if it was true or not. "How... long has it been going on?"

"Several months. When she started fertility treatments before I was shot."

"Cuddy is taking fertility treatments?"

"Right... I didn't tell you about that either. Oops..." he stood and began to walk the office as he worked everything around in his head.

"You're trying to have a baby with Cuddy?"

He turned to look at Wilson then. "No. Cuddy is trying to have a baby with me. Weren't you listening?"

"It's the same result," Wilson leaned back in his chair then. "You've seriously been sleeping with Cuddy for months and haven't told me?"

"This isn't high school. Some of us keep our private lives private, Jimmy."

Wilson shook his head and stood up, walking over to him. "This isn't high school, but you are still in high school. If this was any other woman, you'd have bragged about it. The sheets were barely cold when you told me about Stacy. This is different. She's different." And then he realized, "You're protecting her."

"There was no protection. She wants a baby. Duh," he deflected with sarcasm.

"You're protecting her from you. You're first instinct would normally be to run and brag about sleeping with her. To use the fact that she's your boss to get your way here. And you haven't. You went against your first instinct in order to protect her. You care about her."

"I don't care about her. I'm only telling you now because it's over. She's giving up the fertility treatments. No fertility drugs, no hope for a baby, no need for the hot monkey sex," he spun his cane as he continued to think.

"You don't want it to be over. Because you care about her. She's probably the only other woman who can stand you, can handle you, and you don't want to lose her."

"Don't be ridiculous. I care about the sex. It's free... and really, really good."

Wilson studied him for a moment. "You fell in love with her, didn't you?" It was really more of a statement. His friend wouldn't be here now if all he cared about was having sex.

House stared out the window silently for several long minutes. "What do I do about it?" He turned to his friend then.

"Well, the obvious response is to tell her."

"I can't tell her I love her."

"Why not?"

"Because she doesn't love me."

"How do you know?"

"I just know!"

"Right, because when a woman wants a baby, her first instinct is to go to the man who's a complete jackass to her and ask him to sleep with her... for months. And you said it was going on before you were shot? So over five months."

"Six, actually," he corrected him. "What can I say,  she's got it bad for my genes."

"She's got it bad for you, House." When he didn't respond, Wilson pushed on. "Did you only have sex when she was ovulating?"

"Yes." He answered quickly. Heaving a sigh a moment later,  he continued. "At least in the beginning. Somewhere along the way the line blurred." House didn't even have to think about that. It had started that way, but the longer it went on, the more sex they had, whether or not it was time in her monthly cycle. And it wasn't just sex. There were nights when they literally slept together and nothing else.

"Then it's not just about a baby. She has feelings for you."

House sighed again. "She's the one who ended the arrangement."

"Probably because she thinks that's all you wanted and she's trying to keep herself from being hurt anymore than she already is."

"She should know that's not all it is."

"Why? Because you've told her?"

"Yes, okay?! Yes! I told her I didn't care about the sex, that I cared about her! And she still ended things!"

"When did you tell her?"

He sighed, rubbing his thumb across his forehead. "Somewhere between her telling me I would have to go back to hookers for sex and quoting the Rolling Stones 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' to me."

He shook his head with a laugh. "House, you're an idiot! She probably thinks you just said it in the heat of the moment to protect your supply of free sex. You're an addict, you've proven you'll say anything to get what you want in the past," he explained. He paused for a moment before continuing. "House, you don't exactly give off the warm and fuzzy vibe. More like the annoying, jackass vibe. Cuddy may be able to handle your particular brand of charm... she may even like it. But she can't read your mind. And a woman like Cuddy isn't going to make that leap unless she knows you're there to catch her. You've got to talk to her."

"I don't know if I can."

"Do you know if you can lose her? Because that's what's at stake here. You either talk to her, or it's over."

House breathed deeply, thinking it over before he left.

Sweet Dreams

This took literally hours to do and was super fun. It has all my favourite things to write about, slice of life, sadness, insanity, and one of the the weird quirks of this world’s Wilson.

Summary; Wilson wakes up home in bed, a horrible nightmare having plagued him for what felt like a really long night. Something feels different with him, wrong. He quickly readjusts to home and ignores the feeling. However, all is not it seems.

Wilson wakes up with a gasp and heavy breathing. He forces himself to sit up, tears quickly flowing down his face. He runs a hand through his messy hair, his fingers seeming softer than they should. Shouldn't his nails have also caught on his hair? He can't remember why he thought that's what would've happened. The moment he opened his eyes, something was... incorrect. Everything with him felt wrong. But before he can decipher why and what it is that brought bile to the back of his throat, there's knocking on his door. His door? Such a strange concept for him to still have a door, but he doesn't know why for that either. The knocking happens again. He gets up from his bed and walks over to investigate. He slowly opens the door, waiting for something to jump out and strike him. Nothing does, and all that's outside is a crying little girl barely four years of age. His breath catches itself. She looks up to him, arms clutching a velveteen rabbit toy, "Dad?" "Elizabeth," He can't catch himself before he falls to his knees and pulls her into a hug as if he hasn't seen her for years, "Stars above! What's wrong?" Why is the sight of her so overwhelming? He had seen her hours prior, there's no reason for him to act as such. Elizabeth hugs him back as she cries, "I had a nightmare!" "Oh, little one," He gives a small 'hup' noise and picks her up in his arms, standing up at the same time. For some reason it takes more effort than he expected, but he doesn't dwell on it, "It's alright now. You're safe here." She still sniffles and snuggles grossly into his nightgown, "Promise?" He smiles softly despite having the snot on him, "On all the science in the world. Now, please, relax and try to sleep. You'll be safe with me."

  Come the immediate sleep of his child, Wilson rushes to his telephone with Elizabeth still in arm. It may be midnight here, but he knows well it'll be early morning where he calls. It takes several tries to correctly remember the number, but he doesn't know how he could have forgotten it. It rings. And rings. He taps his foot anxiously, not sure why he felt as if something could get him anytime he lets his guard down. The call is picked up. "Higgsbury Family Wa—" "Father." He quickly interrupts. "Wilson? I thought I told you to stop calling. Why are you using that ridiculous voice?" He can't stop the whimpering noise he makes, "Oh my stars... I can't..." The fake American accent his father mentioned crumbles under his stress, "I can't believe..." "Whatever are you rambling about? If you are only going to waste my time—" "I'm sorry, I just..." He cover his eyes with his free hand and tries not to cry from the strange overload of emotion. Elizabeth moves a bit in his arm, but she doesn't wake. He sniffles, "I've had the most terrible nightmare." "And you've called to tell me this? You're a grown man Wilson. Act like it." "I'm well aware. I... don't know why I felt this was important." Wilson peaks out from his hands to his child in concern, watching her still sleep soundly. He can't understand why he's so worried. He anxiously taps his fingers. His father sighs, "Wilson, I understand being a single father can be stressful. But you have to stop calling me for help. Just because Elizabeth bothers you over nightmares doesn't mean you can call us over yours." Something with that sentence doesn't sound right. He doesn't remember ever telling his father about his child. But he doesn't remember lots of things, so he gives his head a small shake and writes it off, "Yes. Yes, of course. I'll... end the call now. There's science to do."

  Wilson can feel it in his bones that everything was wrong. He puts Elizabeth to bed, tucking her comfortably in and leaving quick as he came. His feet trip up against the straight flooring of his hallway. He doesn't know why that is either, he had been walking through them perfectly fine the night before. For some reason he expects the floor to be more rough terrain, but the wooden floor is far from rough terrain. It's only his attic that has terrible flooring, after all. He stumbles his way to the restroom, the only room with a mirror in his house. It may be dark, but he's a man with money. He presses his light switch and the room floods with brightness. The light helps curb the anxiety he didn't realise he had. Being in the dark made him feel... afraid. Afraid of what, he doesn't know. Everything is as it should be, slightly dusty and dirty, the weird mushrooms in the corner that he left alone out of curiosity. It's... nice. Calm. Standing in front of the wood frame mirror, he watches his reflection move the same as he does. Wilson's not sure what he expected. All he sees is himself, with purely brown eyes and round ears. Albeit he thinks he should brush his hair, there's bound to be tangles if he doesn't. He reaches for his brush to do just that, but pauses when he sees his left hand. He brings it closer to look at it. It just looks normal like the rest of him, with dull fingernails and scars from past experimental fails. He turns it over to look over his palm. There's nothing there but smooth skin, no deep slice from a silver knife. He shakes his head and rests the hand on his forehead, "No, stop it. There's nothing wrong. It was just a nightmare." So he continues on to brush his hair, fixing the horrible fuzz. Since he already woke up, he'll stay awake. Science waits for no man.

  It's hours later in the morning when Elizabeth comes running down the stairs in cheer, finding her father dressed and asleep on a couch with a chemistry book open. It's not the first time she found him like this, so she quickly skips on over to wake him. She shakes him continuously until he wakes up. He hums and blinks his eyes open, "Hm?" "Wake up, wake up! It's morning!" "Is it now?" Wilson frowns and sits up. He was so excited last night to finally read the book, but it looks like he only got a couple pages in, "I must have fallen asleep." "That means it's breakfast! Breakfast, dad!" Elizabeth shakes his arm, "Come on, get up!" "Right," He shakes off the sleepiness and forces himself to stand, wandering to the kitchen, "Breakfast." It only took a couple minutes to conclude that he has absolutely nothing properly edible. Not for a child. The most of anything he has is a bottle of whiskey stashed away for the bad nights. He makes sure Elizabeth doesn't see it. Children can be tattletales, and he doesn't want to go through the effort of getting more just yet. It's still illegal, after all. He only has so much money, and alcohol is expensive. He sighs, "Seems like we have to go to town, little one." She gasps excitedly and pulls on his dress pants, "Oh, yay!" "Go on and get dressed. Remember, we use our best manners." She nods and runs off. Wilson watches and rubs the back of his head as a strange headache comes on. Everything in his vision desaturates and distorts for a moment before he shakes his head and clenches his eyes closed. Everything is so calm and routine. It's lovely, relaxing. But it for some reason feels rather... boring. He opens them again, breathing heavily and quickly, he leans against the wall. He feels a itching in his brain, a craving to do something that he hasn't done for years. He doesn't count the nightmare, where he had to do it for survival without choice. Blood is staining, so very hard to clean, and a child would only complicate everything. Besides, he doesn't think his excuses to the science community would let them ever trust him with an animal again. He shakes his head again and takes a shaky breath, swallowing it, "Stop it, stop it..." He doesn't do anything, just stays against the wall. It doesn't help that the feeling is back after so long. He can't even remember what he was told to do to deal with it. "Daddy!" Wilson jolts into awareness, the desire fading off into nothing again. Elizabeth comes running downstairs, "Ready, ready! Let's go now!" "Y-Yes. Of course," He forces himself away from the wall and offers his hand to her, "Come on. Let's go." Science can only help with so much, and it seems it didn't want to help him now.

  Town is largely as it had been a couple days ago. Slow paced, with people all around, and quite lovely organisation. But Wilson isn't here to look at everything. Elizabeth, however, excitedly points out everything around, somehow having remembered people's name. "Look, look, it's Mrs.Barens! See her dog?" "Of course I do, Lizzy," He glances over to the woman who glares back at him. Her old sheepdog follows at her heel, not sharing the same hostility as their owner. Wilson can't really see her well, he had forgotten his glasses on his nightstand again, but he waves nervously anyway. If Elizabeth wanted him to look, he was going to. It continues this way as Wilson searches around for a diner and mutters about 'pesky townspeople'. Before he can find one, he's interrupted by someone tapping his shoulder. He finches away and turns to find out who in the world would dare touch him despite how much they dislike him. Standing behind him is someone who he went to university with, split rent with, who even helps with his science. "Oscar, I thought I told you to stop doing that!" Wilson chides the shorter figure. His voice only brings more of the townspeople's attention on him. Oscar laughs in good humour, "You seem lost, friend, I only wanted to catch your attention." With a huff, he shakes his head, "I'll have you know I don't get 'lost'. You certain did, rather rudely." "Ah, ha, it's all dandy and fine!" "I suppose so..." Something about seeing his long time friend brings a headache to him. He rubs the back of his head and closes his eyes, "Oh my head." "Where are you going anyway?" "The diner," Wilson continues the soothing motion, "I ran out of food again." "Ah, you really should pay attention to reality more."

  Since the headache just continues to persist, Wilson opens his eyes and stop the motions. The sight sends shock to his heart. "You don't want to see something that isn't there again." Oscar looks at him with dead eyes and a mangled body somehow still standing. Almost every colour is greyscale, except red. Red, being so vibrant and saturated that it hurts just to look at his friend. Everything is twisting and swirling, his vision seeming to distort with similarly red coloured tendrils reaching to him. Trying to take him, claw him apart, tear his skin from him. What's that breathing sound..? Loud whispers and crackling noises echo in his ears. He hugs his arms, fingers gripping at fabric for support as tears start to fall from his eyes, No no no— This is wrong! I can't— He's— Everything is— There's too much everywhere! Dead, he's dead— years ago— Can't focus— No no, wrong, wrong—! Something rests itself on his shoulder and he jumps, instinctively throwing his hand out to hit whatever is there. He hits something that gives a pained noise, "GAH! Friend, relax and stop your hyperventilating!" That explains the breathing he heard. "You're scaring Elizabeth." Oscar's voice distort a bit as he rests his hands on the taller man's shaking shoulders. The touch makes him flinch and want to run away or lash out more, but he reasons to himself that it's an old friend. His friends have never hurt him, he can't remember any ever doing so. The words make Wilson's heart skip a beat. He opens his bloodshot gold iris eyes—when did he close them?—, "I... I am?" Everything could normal again. Nothing shaking and writhing, desaturated or coming after him. But it isn't. It's the same, but far worse.

  Everywhere around him people are glaring at him. Despite him being human, regular, Normal, he has to be Normal, have to be have to be— He can hear their words as they whisper. "Did you see that?" "Crazy scientist." "Murderer." "Devil man. Why's he allowed to have a child?" "He'll corrupt the poor dear." "I hear he deals with witchcraft." "N-no," Wilson tries to tell them. He's shaking violently as he looks around rapidly, "It's not true." "Demon." "Murderer!" "He's the only one found with the man." "In the woods no less!" "He lives there too." Barely a noise left her from how quick it happened. "No, please don't! Listen to me!" Wilson cries out to the voices, throwing himself to try to get her back. He falls onto the ground with the sickening sound of skin hitting gravel painfully. He looks around for his friend, but Oscar is no where to be found. There's only him. "MURDERER!" He's alone. Nothing but their words around. He's on his knees with tears running down his face and hugging himself. His claws dig into his arms, and his inhuman ears twitch from the voices.

  Wilson awakes with a gasp to the cold Constant air. He forces himself to sit up as tears quickly start flowing down his face. He runs a hand through his messy hair, his claws catching on the tangled, dirty strands. The moon hangs over head of him, lighting up nothing of the world. The full moon was the previous day, after all, not today. It's quiet. It's calm. It's... boring. Oh so very boring. And he's alone. There's an nagging feeling in his brain. A craving, for something he wants.

WOW YOU ARE NOT WRONG

It’s not that Bucky thinks Steve’s roommate is a dick, or anything. Hell, he seems like a good guy, especially given he’s helped Steve rescue Bucky from misguided decisions and poorly thought through situations at least three times. Four if you count the time Steve and Sam got into a fistfight with the president of Hydra Kappa Phi while Bucky was throwing up in the frat house bathroom in nothing but his underwear and some silver body paint. And yeah, Sam’s probably got more than enough reason to hate Bucky now, given that whole thing ended with Bucky puking on Wilson’s shoes while weakly insisting that it wasn’t hazing, the frat was totally cool, he was gonna keep pledging like it was his damn mission. Once you throw up on someone’s shoes, Bucky thinks, you’re probably not gonna be cool with each other. 

It’s just. It’s just, if he’s being truthful, Sam Wilson is super fucking great, the kind of great that’d make you spit if he weren’t also such a nice fucking person. It’s not enough that he’d got the 4.0 GPA and double major in psych and polsci and fuckin’ track scholarship, he’s gotta go and be the kind of person who runs the LGBT students’ association and volunteers down at the VA for extra counselling experience, and on top of all that he’s really goddamn beautiful. Bucky’d already noticed him before the whole Hydra Kappa Phi debacle, had furtively checked him out across their mutual Eng 201 class, but he’d really noticed Sam was beautiful, had gotten up close with the curl of his lashes and his smooth brown skin, about the same time he was heaving the last quarter of a forty of grain alcohol all over Wilson’s nice white sneakers, and ever since then, well. 

He’d woken up the next morning feeling like something unutterably terrible had happened to him, squinted at his surroundings—Steve’s suite bathroom floor, cool—and staggered into their room, wondering if maybe he was dying or maybe had in fact already died and was just a shambling corpse, and Sam fuckin’ Wilson had glanced over at him, scowled a little, said man, you owe me some new kicks, and Bucky had thought, bleakly: well, fuck me.

Ever since then they’ve kind of maintained an awkwardly distant relationship, Steve’s two best friends who don’t quite get along, and now it’s like six years later and Bucky knows Sam Wilson is a good guy, more than just a good guy but someone who Bucky’s accidentally kind of fallen way too deep for even as Sam politely but barely acknowledges his existence. Bucky wants to mend that bridge, smooth it all over, say hey how about we forget what a fuckin’ disaster I was in undergrad, we’re adults now, let’s start fresh, and then maybe, how about we get a drink sometime, but it all, when Bucky’s being bleakly honest with himself, seems more than a little like an entirely lost cause.

He’s sitting in Steve’s office one evening, waiting for him to finish grading; honestly the TA offices are more like depressingly tiny cubicles than actual offices but it’s a better spot than the grad lounge if only because the couch doesn’t feel too gross to sit on, so Bucky’s got his laptop out, is working on his Comparative Lit paper while he waits. He pulls up iTunes to switch albums, notices something odd in his Mac library.

FALCON, it says, and Bucky clicks on it, because Dostoevsky is fine but he’s been working on this paper for about three thousand hours, and someone clearly hasn’t turned off their Mac library sharing permissions.

It’s Sam Wilson’s music library. Bucky figures it out pretty quickly—Janelle Monáe, Vince Staples, Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean, Sam’s got as good taste in music as everything else. There’s a bunch of Belle and Sebastian and Camera Obscura which Bucky’s willing to bet is something Steve passed on and Sam politely listened to once before forgetting it exists, a bit of Marvin Gaye, and Bucky scrolls through, tries out Erykah Badu, a little Anderson .Paak. And then he spots it, right at the bottom, like Sam’s trying to hide it even from himself.

“Oh my god,” Bucky mutters to himself, gleeful. “Oh my god.”

“Hmm?” Steve asks, distracted from his class’s papers on fuckin’ mid-century American politics or whatever it is Steve’s tutoring this semester, and Bucky shakes his head, waves Steve off. 

“Oh my god,” he whispers again. Pulls up a browser window, runs a search, looks at his bank account. Fuck, this is— it’s stupid, he doesn’t really have the money, his savings are low and his grad stipend’s gotta last for another month, but it’s too good an opportunity, and before Bucky really thinks about it, he’s clicked book now.

He goes back over to the TA offices the next day when he knows Steve’s got a three-hour lecture across campus. Knocks on the door of Sam’s cubicle, and Sam looks up from his trauma psych notes, squints at Bucky through his reading glasses.

“Steve’s not here, man, come back later.”

“No, I know. I, uh. I came to talk to you.”

“To talk to me,” Sam repeats, obviously perplexed, and Bucky shrugs, already regretting everything that’s led him here. Sam gestures at his own couch, slightly less ratty than Steve’s, and Bucky sits down, wipes his palms on his jeans.

“Yeah. Well, I mean. To give you these, actually.” He hands the envelope to Sam before he can make it any damper, clutching it in a sweaty hand, and Sam blinks at it for a minute. “Well, open it,” Bucky says, even more awkward now, and Sam blinks again, opens the envelope and pulls out the tickets.

“What,” he says, flat. Bucky grins. 

“I figured, right, we could go.”

“What,” Sam repeats. Looks from the tickets to Bucky and back again. “Am I hallucinating? Is this a stress dream? Did Maria put her secret study formula in my coffee again to test it out on me?”

“You have a thing for Taylor Swift,” Bucky says, undeterred. Sam shakes his head. “You do. I know because my Mac picked up your music library.”

“No, man, that was from Steve,” Sam tries, “I never even listened to it, it just got added in the last compilation he gave me,” and it’s Bucky’s turn to shake his head.

“It ain’t. You think I don’t know Steve’s music? Besides, he won’t download her, you know he thinks she’s a succubus. And anyway, I checked your number of plays. You’ve listened to 1989 like four thousand times, sweetheart.”

“I cannot believe this,” Sam mutters. “Fuck, I was so careful.”

“You gotta change your privacy settings,” Bucky tells him, magnanimous now. “And you gotta go to Taylor Swift with me.”

“I am not going to Taylor Swift,” Sam says. “With you or otherwise, Barnes.”

“Come on, those cost me almost three hundred bucks,” Bucky says. “I’m gonna have to eat ramen and dining hall coffee for the next month. Besides, who’s gonna know? Nobody will see us. Your cred is safe. Just shake it off, baby.”

“No,” Sam says. “No, Barnes, we’re not doing this.”

“Look what you made me do,” Bucky offers. One corner of Sam’s mouth crooks upward, like he’s willing himself not to smile. “You’re so gorgeous, I can’t say anything to your face.”

“No,” Sam says again, “nuh uh, stop this,” and reaches out, tries to cover Bucky’s mouth with his hand. Bucky grins at him, shifts out of range.

“I’m so furious at you for making me feel this way,” he says, deadpan, and this time Sam flings himself at Bucky, wrestles him down against the couch to press his palm over Bucky’s mouth.

“You are the worst,” he says, glaring at Bucky. “I hate you.” And then he’s grinning outright, leaning in, hissing in Bucky’s ear. “I knew you were trouble when you walked in.”

“It’s a love story,” Bucky says, muffled against Sam’s palm. Grabs Sam’s wrist and pulls his hand away, strokes his thumb over Sam’s warm pulse point; Sam’s in his lap looking furious and aroused and right on the edge of laughter, and Bucky didn’t really think this was possible, but— “Baby,” he says, solemn, “just say yes.”

“Fuck you,” Sam says, with feeling, and slams his mouth against Bucky’s, kissing him hard. “Yes, fine, yes, I’ll go to fucking Taylor Swift with you, my entire life is an embarrassing lie.”

“Uh,” someone says fifteen minutes later, and they quit furiously making out to discover one of Sam’s students standing in his office doorway looking vaguely embarrassed. “I can come back later?”

“I,” Sam says. Clears his throat and visibly tries to pull himself together, which is absolutely fucking unacceptable given that thirty seconds ago Bucky had his mouth on Sam’s throat and Sam had both hands up Bucky’s shirt, and Bucky has been pining over this for like six fucking years.

“Yeah, no, this is a bad time. Come back during his office hours,” Bucky says firmly, getting up to close the door.

“This is my office hours,” Sam says, only a little reproachfully, and Bucky shrugs, locks the door.

Magical Monday: Return To Pern (Crash)

So! Last week I linked you guys a silly little “dragons and Frasier” fanfic series I found on AO3, and mentioned that it had reignited my love for those delightful little creatures known as Pernese fire lizards! And then I thought, “hey, I haven’t actually TALKED about fire lizards or my Pern Crash AU in a while, have I?” Not since mid-2016, according to the relevant tags. So! Here’s a few links to help those of you who weren’t around then catch up:

Where it all began: Forgotten Vows gets a fire lizard! This was basically my introduction to fire lizards and Pern in general -- I saw the Nest of Eggs Meme on Dreamwidth and thought, "Holy crap, someone's giving away dragons?!" So I threw the DW version of Forgotten at it and got "a relaxed, lazy and gentle silver male fire lizard." (Nest O'Flitts, the journal that did the meme, does noncanon colors, and everything's decided by dice rolls -- I had no choice in the matter.) I wanted to know more about his new pet, so I read all the information available on Nest O'Flitts, then started Googling. . .

Aaand ended up a little obsessed. XD What can I say -- they're adorable and I love them. XD (Also they avoid some of the more -- problematic things I noticed with the books focused on the dragons. Not a big fan of how sex is handled, at least when it comes to mating flights. . .) The linked post lists most of the information I came up with for deciding how big fire lizards, in both canonical and non-canonical colors, should get, along with some notes on behavior and links to other references -- the Anne McCaffrey Fans link for sizes no longer works, but the Firelizard Biology and Behavior one does! Pern Crash: Okay, so I apparently never did a proper write-up of this AU on my own blog, so you’ll have to rely on my RP blog’s page on it for the details: Things You Need To Know About: Pern Crash The most pertinent points are:

Fire lizards are a common part of life in England in this AU thanks to them accidentally being taken to Earth in a weird betweening accident; magic is also more commonly known

Victor gets in extra trouble with everyone for the Emily incident because necromancy is illegal thanks to corpse-puppet shenanigans earlier in the timeline; to the point where he is disowned by his parents once Victoria makes the decision not to marry him (not because of the illegal necromancy, but because she’s not sure how she feels about him anymore)

Victor Impresses Moonlight after finding his abandoned egg, and moves to London to take a job as a clerk for Radcliffe, where he meets Alice; he later gets a job as dogsbody for Bumby after he reveals to Alice Radcliffe’s been stealing from her inheritance and gets himself fired

Alice has a magical tattoo given to her in Rutledge that, thanks to sloppy spellcasting, allows her to accidentally project her hallucinations into people’s minds via skin-to-skin contact; this leads to some shenanigans when she slips back into Wonderland and Victor and Moonlight are trying to find her

Victor manages to successfully get his hands on Bumby’s journal while helping Alice and turns it over to the police with Alice once she’s sorted out Wonderland -- the psychiatrist still gets shoved in front of a train though :p

Victor and Alice get together in the aftermath, and Alice gets two fire lizards of her own -- a white named Snowflake and a black named Sooty; Moonlight and Sooty later mate, and Victor adopts one of the resulting hatchlings, a blue he calls Skyfall

Looking back at it these days, I’d actually like to change things up so Alice gets Snowflake earlier -- I have the idea of her getting the little flitt while in the asylum (Dr. Wilson takes her to a Hatching, or a Hatching to her, hoping to provoke a response -- he gets it when she cracks open an egg that wouldn’t hatch and Impresses the runt white within). I also don’t know if I’d do the whole “magical tattoo” thing. . .I dunno, we’ll see if and when I edit any of this.

Yes I Wrote Fic: I -- actually wrote a LOT more fic than I remembered. O.o I was more into this universe than I first thought. . . Anyway, here are the fics, in in-universe chronological order (I posted a few of them out-of-order):

Not So Helpless: a furious Victor confronts Radcliffe, telling Alice that he's been stealing from her; her resultant fit of rage makes him re-evaluate his first impression of her

Aftermath of Radcliffe: Alice feels the need to apologize to Victor for losing him his job in the aftermath of the both of them getting ejected from Radcliffe's house. Victor assures her it's fine, and talk ends up turning toward why he's in London in the first place

Can You Feel It?: a quick scene with Alice asking Victor if he can feel it while she's petting Moonlight

Suddenly, Samurai!: Victor and Moonlight are both searching for Alice after she has her A:MR break with reality; Victor runs into Victoria on his journey, while Moonlight manages to track down Alice herself. Unfortunately, she happens to be navigating the Mysterious East at the moment, leading to a weird interruption to Victor's conversation when Moonlight tries to get her attention by touching her. . .

Welcome To Cardbridge: Victor and Moonlight track down Alice while she's in the middle of her Cardbridge visit, and Victor gets a more direct look at Wonderland thanks from trying to save her from a drop

Confessions: Everything's wrapping up with Bumby and his mess, so Victor feels it's time to finally make a certain confession. . .

Meet Snowflake: Alice gets her first fire lizard, Snowflake, from a seller who offers her an egg that didn't hatch for free if she can get it open. . .

The Flight: Victor and Alice go through Sooty's first mating flight -- and get a surprise in who's flying her. . .

Next Generation: Victor and Alice welcome Victor's second little flitt, the son of Moonlight and Sooty's mating flight

Ep1: they gotta cure the death row dude so he can go back to death row to b killed, cameron is Bad at telling ppl they're dying, house n Wilson had lunch with the coma guy, they cured death row man, also they changed the theme and I hate it Ep2: House has hayfever lmao, this cancer girl with hallucinations is honestly just the coolest she's so positive I love her, shes nine and got chase to kiss her hero,, house an Wilson have a shared balcony amazing, Wilson is so good and pure and is amazing at his job holy shit I love this man. House actually 'temporarily killed' the patient to cure her and made people run drills on a dead man. House is 400% going to buy a motorbike Ep3: i prayed for Cuddy's handyman to fall off her roof past the window and then god answered my prayers and he did, house broke into Cuddy's house mainly to look at her underwear lbr and then won the 'can we chop off his arm' argument, house secretly speaks spanish and waited for the most dramatic moment to reveal this, they gate crashed a cock fight (ayy) and saved the patient Ep4: the patient is a doctor with an ego ((according to house lmao pot, kettle)) who wanted to sit in on the diagnostic process and honestly is actually full of himself,, house puts him on a tippy table and cranks it up, foreman made a patient cry except he was pretending to be house lmao house got in shit,, Cameron needs to stop please, can the patient get his head out his arse please. house gatecrashes the press conference that the patient called and managed to put him into cardiac arrest on live television and eventually cured him of everything cept bein a knob Ep5: Wilson's handwriting is such doctor handwriting and house definitely bought a motorbike and made Wilson pay for it he's so pleased with himself. The kid keeps getting electrocuted but like,, by his own body. House is avoiding his parents but Cameron n Wilson aren't letting him get away with it. I love house n Wilson's friendship so much it's worth 5k apparently lmao. These patients are fukin serial liars jc why are ppl like this, it was rADIATION wow houses dad is a fucking DICK. There were so many good interactions and the house/wilson ship is sailing Ep6: there was a cyclist who took a LOT of drugs which turned out to be curing him of the thing he had, house is a douchebag but we all knew that - he may b a dick to mark but m sure mark deserves it n I love him anyway. The patient may have given Cameron aids and Cameron got high and slept with Chase, who she may have given aids lmao these ppl r messes but not as much of a mess as that father/son relationship jc...i dont remember anything else about the patient whoops Ep8: chase is being suuuueeeeddd and he keeps lying about why lmao,, house fuckin reamed him one which was probably called for but maybe not like that, turns out chase screwed up cus his dad died and foreman is houses boss ((supervisor)) now how well do u think that's gunna work (((not very))) Stacy's still a bitch and has ~~feelings~~ Ep9: foreman is in charge and house is doing his utmost best to be the dick of the year and it's fucking hilarious honestly I love this man the shit he pulls jc,,, Wilson is super aware of houses antics as usual and had a mild gay panic when foreman started to question him about house,, the patient was a big ol Faker™ but surprise surprise she was actually sick this time ((house totally injected her with a load of stuff so she’d b readmitted after they’s released her)) Ep10: house solved a case thru the phone alone and spent most of the ep at the airport except for those five minutes when he almost slept with Stacy who once had a terrible experience with curry apparently and called house a vindaloo, nice restraint very well timed phone call thank fuck,,, they will sleep together tho and I am Not Happy about it....the power play amongst the fellows is a boiling pot of trouble - the patient was v interesting I enjoyed the word scramble game Ep12: WHAT A GOOD FUCKIN EP so the patient orgasmed in the white chamber while unconscious and covered in burns but more importantly house gatecrashed the lecture of his old archenemy that he had arranged just so he could disturb it and criticise the dude who got him thrown out of med school for snitchin on his cheating all whilst Wilson told him to get better hobbies (('a hooker anything please')),, to test this dudes migraine meds he gave deliberately himself a migraine and the meds didn't work (unsurprising) so the fellows turned out all the lights while he had a nap under the table,, wilson took a diff approach and deliberately made a Lot of noise because he is a Shit even if he hides it better than house,,,, then house dropped a tab of acid and took a bunch of antidepressants, and cured his migraine as well as the patient Ep13: houses leg was super duper sore but at least we got some fantastic house/wilson interaction when wilson pretended to be God during that MRI, even if house hit him with a cane.... The patient was a teen supermodel who seduced her own father to get whatever she wanted,, house was super sure she had cancer and it turns out she did but it was testicular because she had xy chromosomes and was immune to testosterone - which was really fucking interesting...... Also cuddy played house like a violin and gave him placebo saline instead of a morphine shot to prove to him that his leg pain was psychological Ep14: House is stealing organs now. Ok so technically he did get the husband's permission to steal his newly dead wife’s heart for the dying old dude with a strangely young daughter but only after he kneed house in the balls super hard. House spent the whole ep goin on at wilson about the affair he thought he was having and at the end wilson showed up on houses doorstep but sURPRIse !! It was his wife who was sleeping around!! poor baby Wilson I know what goes around comes around but he's such a kicked puppy cmon Ep15: Wilson and house living together is a recipe for disaster and I'm living for it so good so many good interactions I love that house is gunna keep him for his food ((I'll never b over house hearing the voicemail about Wilson's new place, looking over at him sleeping on the couch and then deleting it so he has to stay)). The patient had a super cool marriage and didn't have lupus except whoops actually not a happy marriage his wife is tryna kill him thru gold poisoning. House needs to stop accosting ppl in bathrooms and should also stop destroying marriages Ep16: oh man good shit so,, first of all house n Wilson are still living together and there are some Domestic Antics happening right here including but not limited to a prank war which house desperately tried to get Wilson to participate in, the peak of which had house making Wilson wet the couch and Wilson sabotaging houses cane. The patients mum was ridiculously overprotective and house essentially kidnapped the patient to find the tick noone else thought was there,, surprisingly Wilson helped set that up despite the fact house was the reason he woke up wet that morning Ep17: first things first house could absolutely clean everyone out at poker if he knows Cuddy's tells that well through just a phonecall,, also he needs to stop calling Wilson out on his toenail varnish habits lmao. The patient was a smol boy who presented the same symptoms as an unsolved and dead case that house had 12 yrs ago so he really wasn't gunna let this one go cus he's like a dog with a bone. They were in formal wear all ep which was a Good Look™ and Wilson's retelling of how he won the poker championship may have been one of the cutest things I have ever seen Ep18: Emma from Glee is here and she has the black plague,, her gf decided to donate her liver n Cameron was all het up cus house had worked out plague girl was gunna leave her and sending the gf in blind would be ~~unethical~~ but turns out she knew and deliberately did that so Emma would stay with her out of guilt lmao. In other news Cameron's pissy cus foreman 'stole' her article and house spent most of the episode napping cus wilson is fuckin up his sleep cycle ;) I'm upset there was no physical wilson Ep19: the most annoying patient so far appears in the form of a 15 yr old faith healer with herpes. I feel like the degree to which unrelenting niceness irritates me rly says something about me but eh oh well. Chase (ofc it was chase) kept a tally on who was winning God or house, faith healer managed to shrink a womans cancer tumour through giving her herpes (((a miracle praise be))) and during poker night house called wilson out on sleeping with said cancer patient and discovered wilson was actually living with her whoops bad Wilson ((he totally regrets his life choices ((he should)))) Ep20: HOLY SHIT ITS A TWOPARTER AND FOREMANS GUNNA DIE !! Ok so,,, there was this cop who couldn't stop laughing till he could but then it got a lot worse and then foreman caught whatever it was which they began to realise when he smirked as house shot a corpse to see what a bullet in a brain would do to an MRI ((spoilers it broke the machine)) anyway long story short it wasnt the pigeons and the cops dead and foreman is gunna die even after that shitdick move he pulled where he stabbed Cameron with a needle so she'd go to the apartment Ep21: HOO BOY OK SO a lot happened so much happened the most important thing is foreman by the end of the ep is mostly kind of ok - he's just a bit muddled on his lefts n rights. During the ep house was stressed the entire time cus even tho he denys it he does love n care for his ducklings,, he even cares enough to deliberately attempt to poison Steve McQueen which didn't work but can be added to the list of stressful events. Cameron grew a spine a lil bit I literally yelled when she berated cuddy and she forced the biopsy cus foreman had the foresight (ayyyyy) to make her his medical proxy even if house managed to find the problem anyway so it was ultimately unnecessary and has just resulted in some possible brain damage Ep22: house keeps trying to pick a fight with foreman and failing because Foreman's all happy go lucky now, the patient was mad because of a thing and killed her baby accidentally on purpose, the music that played during the baby autopsy was super unnecessary and bizzare, and in the end the woman had cancer but she's refusing treatment cus of the baby guilt. Cuddy didn't have cancer, which we know because Wilson ((WILSON NOT HOUSE)) stole her dna and ran secret tests in the middle of the night, but it still wasn't a date Wilson despite what house said about skin lessions she was actually just going to attempt to use u as a sperm donor - have fun at the L-word marathon with house you big sad loser (I love u) Ep23: we meet an old house friend which is Super fun he is ridiculously naive and I love that he calls house g-man holy shit. House is now giving cuddy injections as part of a fertility treatment which is nice of him especially seeing as his leg was in a Lot of pain this ep,, like a LOT...he's self-injecting morphine now which is probably bad :/ house's friend's daughter was the patient at one point she pooped out her mouth gRoSs and house ran a paternity test n told the girl she was actually the dudes daughter ((except he was lYINg in support of his friend)) he does care Ep24: HOUSE GOT SHOT WHAT IS IT WITH THIS TEAM SUFFERING RN JC this was a very fun episode of 'guess when house is hallucinating', spoilers the answer is all the time the whole ep takes place in his head. That aside I absolutely loved the hospital gown/trainer combo (no I won't apologize) and the fact that house did almost none of his physio - instead relegating it to others which is....not how it works. The hallucinatory clinic patient was freaky deaky his eye exploded and so did his dick but dw cus to escape the hallucination house killed him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ what can u do. At the end house woke up n requested ketamine we'll see how that goes

#Arrow S5 Ep22 "Missing" Recap & Review

Episode Grade: 9

We start off with Oliver, Thea, and Lance watching the news report about the Throwing Star killing / Chase being in prison. Lance gave Oliver is new Mayoral approval rating, and they are higher than they ever been, Lance also stops to wish Oliver a Happy Birthday before he goes to find Rene who have been missing in action.

Thea invited Oliver out for a drink, but he told her that he already has planned with Felicity. Thea questions if it was a date, but Oliver tells her he was not sure what it was and it was dinner for right now.

Oliver gets to Felicity Loft where she is hosting a surprise party for him when Oliver saw the door opened he enters cautiously and flips Curtis who approached him from behind. They all wish Oliver a happy birthday, Olive talks to Diggle about his marriage, and he assured him that they are working it out. The subtlety tries to give Oliver and Felicity some alone time. Curtis upgrades Dinah Canary cry, so it won’t be able to be dampened by any electronic device. Felicity and Oliver are discussing taking their relationship one day at a time.

In the Flashback, Oliver is surprised to see Kovar alive since he thought he would kill him, Kovar injects a drug into Oliver that forces him to suffer calling it purgatory. Oliver tells him that when he killed him this time he will make sure he stays dead, ad Kovar assured him that the only person he would want to kill after the injection would be himself. 

Back in the present, Felicity and Curtis on the phone discussion the sexual tension between her and Oliver. Curtis is at Dinah house and notice the glass on her door broken and enter only to be knocked out from behind and Felicity is on the other end of the line calling for Curtis who is being pulled away.  

Felicity calls in backup, Diggle, and Oliver shows up at Dinah, but no one was there which may them immediately conclude that Rene, Dinah, and Curtis were taken. Oliver suspect Chase but Felicity disagreed at first, but Diggle tells them that it was all a part of Chase’s plan all along. Oliver finds a piece of Talia arrow and sends Diggle to get Thea and Lance to safety ASAP. Oliver visit Chase who already knew what was going on but refuses to tell Oliver where he had taken half of his team.

In the Flashback, Kovar continues to torture Oliver and tells him that he knew Oliver was no stranger to pain and pushed on a scar on his chest with make him flashback to the moment of the incident and the pain he felt. He tells him that the injection will get him to relive the pain of every scar on his body.

Oliver is at the team’s bunker and asks Felicity to stay with him, explain that he knew it was coming and he feels like William is in danger, just like all the people he loves, and his past set it all in motion. Diggle reports that Thea and Lance although unwilling his at the safe house. Felicity computer goes off alerting them that Black Siren was missing, and Lance is not aware of her meaning she was heading for the safe house.

Oliver tells them to get the safe house on the phone. At the Safehouse, Thea and Lance are bored out of their minds, the guard received a call, but both the phone and walkie had interference. He tells Lance and Thea to stay behind, but they refuse, in the hallway, they see that the guard was already down. Lance meet Earth 2 Laurel “Hi daddy,” she said. Thea walks in and tells Lance not to take her gun off him Earth 2 Laurel, but before she could explain he is darted behind by Evelyn and Lance who was in shock was unable to disarm her before she disarmed him.

Oliver, Felicity, Diggle are at the safe house and Felicity show him a video of Lauren, Lance, and Thea, and Diggle confirmed the third person as Evelyn. Oliver tells that Chase was doing this because when he captures him, he told Chase that his team was his strength. Oliver tells Felicity that they have to leave the city and state and not say where they are going because Chase was leveraging the team so he would let him out of prison. 

In the flashback, Kovar gives Oliver and gun and tells him the worst pain he feels is inside his head and Oliver gets a flashback of all his painful memories. Kovar tells him that the gun only had one bullet and he would need it to kill himself.

In the present Oliver visits Chase in his box and knock him around a little, Oliver holds a gun to Chase’s head. Oliver tells him that he will not give him the satisfaction of killing him, and he won’t let him out of prison “not today, not tomorrow, not ever” Oliver said. Chase tells him that everyone in his orbit suffers it was the price for his sins and the only way to keep the team from paying that price was to let him go. Oliver tells Chase that he would find another way, and Chase tells Oliver that his time was running out. He tells him that he was one loss away from being destroyed, asking who will be Thea or Felicity.

Meanwhile, Lance and Thea are cuffed on a truck, and Thea tries to convince Lance that the person he saw was not the true Laurel and explain that she was from another earth. Thea asks Lance to be strong because that Laurel was not their Laurel, but she can be very convincing. Evelyn and Black Siren move open to the truck to move them but tell them that where they are going is a surprise.

Diggle and Felicity are on their way out of town; Felicity tells Diggle that she had a bad feeling in gut telling her that they should not have left Oliver. Meanwhile, at the Bunker Oliver is visited by Malcolm who was there because Thea was in trouble. Diggle and Felicity discuss whether they were over thinking, but they soon come up a woman in the read who cause their car to be flip and caught fire and captured after.

Oliver and Malcolm drive up the crash site, and Oliver shout their name out, but Malcolm tells him that they were taken alive and he needs to focus. Oliver tells Malcolm what Chased wanted in exchange for his love one and Malcolm think him being in prison his not worth the life of his daughter. Oliver reminded Malcolm that he should reflect on how many times he kept his promise of blackmailing someone and tell him that he was surprised that a man like him would give in to a man like a chase. Malcolm tells him that he would do anything for his daughter and the fact that she hates him does not make him not her father. Malcolm tells him that friend is friends and family is family.

Malcolm explains to Oliver that human connection was what kept them human, and it was sad that it a sociopath that would point it out to him. Malcolm tells Oliver that he already tried living on an island, but he was always going to have people around him, and they are always going to need him and will have to accept him with his faults and all, and he doesn’t get that his pass will always be his Anker. Oliver received a call from the Marshalls that they were about to move Chase and Oliver tell Malcolm that they are capable people and they will find another way, and he was going to ensure that Chase move goes smoothly.

In the flashback, Oliver hallucinates Yao Fei who tells him that he made sacrifices so Oliver would live and not matter what he does he cannot change anything he has done in the past.

In the present, Lance is taken to a shipping container, and Lance finally realizes that though the woman standing in from of him had Laurel face she was not Laurel. 

Oliver watches as the Marshall moves Chase and he tells Oliver tick-tac, Oliver tells Chase that he will not allow him to pull his strings anymore and he tells Oliver that at least he admits that he was pulling them. Chase tells Oliver that the moment he steps on the chopper his friends had orders to kill his team. AS Chase was walking away, he tells Oliver that he was about to get a phone call and he did, when Oliver picked up it was a video of William asking for help. 

Chase is getting loaded in the vehicle, and they drive off before Oliver could get outside, he tries to take one of the cars that were supposed to be escorting him. But the put up a fight and Malcolm rescues him already know that he made William tell Oliver that it was like minds, and throws him a bag with his mask. 

Oliver and Malcolm ambush Chase’s smooth transport and overpower the guards, Chase is free, and Oliver goes after him while Malcolm covers him. Oliver get to Chase to ask where Will was and he tells him that he dealt when he was away he would make sure his friends and family were safe, and he was not away yet. With tears in his eyes, Oliver asks Chase why he invoiced his son, and he was an innocent and Chase tells him that his wife was an innocent as well and he involved her and that everyone around him gets hurt. 

Oliver and Malcolm are back at the team’s Bunker try to figure out where Chase was heading, Oliver calls for reinforcement his wife Nessa, who learn that the person they are after is her sister. Malcolm said that he rules to work with Nessa and Oliver reminded him that he said he would do anything to get Thea back and as Oliver was about to explain what was going on with Talia to Nessa the computer alert him and he figure out Chase’s location. 

We then see a plane flying with Nessa, Oliver and Malcolm going to Lian Yu and he explains that Talia has research him and knows everything about him and she must have told Chase and Nessa told them that the island was where she met Sarah.

In a Flashback, we see Oliver holding the gun to his head and hallucinate Laurel who said not to do it, Oliver eventually finds the strength to escape after Laurel begs him to come home to them, so his father and Sara didn't die for anything.

On the island Chase, and his team brought Felicity, Thea, Diggle, Land and Curtis and Thea tells him that Oliver will come for them, and Chase tells her that he was counting on it. The worries that Oliver won’t be able to take them on his own. We see Oliver visiting the prison on the island to recruit Slade Wilson help. 

Oliver “I need your help.” Slade “Hey, a kid I am glad you came back.”

Overall, I think it was a great episode before the finale; I get to see some old faces that are always a pleasure to see. Chase is having his way make me mad, but it makes for an excellent season finale.
