Sometimes I think worrying about "what the story should say" or "what the story means" holds writers back. Just write the damn thing and let the reader take what they want away from the story.

(I mean if you get joy out of deciding this stuff, more power to you. But I can't be the only one who gets stuck when I try to do this.)

look I haven’t cared much for historical biopics but did we really need a movie on the making on the atomic bomb? what story is there to tell? anyone with half a brain and actually curious can look up and see the real reason why the weapons were used (intimidate the Soviets who were launching their own invasion of Japanese controlled parts of mainland China) and not “we have to end the war faster.”
