A/n: I love this request!!! sorry it took so long i've been super busy!💕

Clarisse was wandering around camp when she heard a beautiful rattle from the lake she knew it was dangerous ecspically at night you don't know what's lurking in the dark but when she saw it was you she swears her eyes soared as you were gracefully moving like the ocean current soft and peaceful and graceful your soft movements could bless the gods she thought in her head.
your eyes met in such a short time your soft eyes meeting her strong glare Clarisse only really liked one person from the Aphrodite cabin which was Selina you envy her she knew how Clarisse was jealous was said to harm you your older sister.
Your father told you about Namaka and Pele and how Namaka's jealousy destroyed relationships with you and her family in your heart you felt bad for Namaka because you knew that you were like her in some way your was like Pele beautiful yet fierce like a fire.
Clarisse has been all you could think about ever since you arrived in camp and Selina has always had an eye out for Clarisee of course she did she was her best friend but it hurt cause you loved Clarisse to you were just too shy to speak that's why you never walked up to her she always seemed angry.
the camp was like a place to remind you how your sister is always better than you everyone always said "Can you ask your sister this or that" like I'm not a fucking owl.
the way you escaped reality was through the dances and chants passed on from your grandma to you, your father's great-grandfather was one of the ali'i in the land.
how Clarisse saw things were so different she admired you she really loved everything about your eye color to your long thick hair that caressed your beautiful neck and how it went all the way down to your waist you were beautiful you were a good girl you didn't seem to get in any trouble at all.
Clarisse knew that you liked her she just didn't know how to approach you cause you were so beautiful she would get butterflies in her stomach before even trying to talk to you.
in the present time, she always catches you dancing it is so beautiful your moves are as soft as a slow tide on the ocean but today you seemed stressed she could tell you needed to let something off your chest cause she saw that you had tears streaming down your face as you danced the hula was comforting yet sad and it hurt her to see you like this.
she walked out of behind the tree and her voice fell upon your ears like a soft breeze in the spring "y/n, are you alright?..."
you were so surprised that

Aphrodite showing up to Percy’s shows not to flirt (okay, maybe a little to flirt) but to watch thee shit show like it’s a reality tv show
(The mermaids in Atlantis are so flattered that Percy dresses up like them, they send mermaid jewelry up with Triton and Poseidon and Tyson when they can. They all think he should have been born a mermaid)
Look if there’s one thing Aphrodite likes it’s a pretty man able to cause world ending chaos by making one single choice and Percy fits that bill perfectly on both accounts. The fact that he will occasionally stop to talk to her when her children aren’t fast enough to head him off is an added bonus. (So is the fact that Ares is incredibly jealous.)
Percy in pearls and bits of pretty shells and the most delicately crafted silver jewelry all of which he claims comes from his dad’s side of the family (which honestly is pretty believable. Or at least it is when they see his brother who has that old money well put together look. His dad on the other hand… well rich people are always eccentric though the never would have expected just how many Hawaiian shirts he has.) all the Atlanteans love their little prince and how he is determined to honor them on dry land.

This is something that's been tugging at my heartstrings for as long as I can remember.
I'd be lying if I said I've never quite felt as the gender that was assigned to me at birth. Because I did. I was born a cisgender male and it felt right. Or, at the very least, it felt partially right. Like it was always just one half of what or who I really am.
I would adamantly try to deny these strange feelings I'd get while coming across terms such as "non-binary" or "intersex".
Because we've always been taught that there only exist two sexes: male and female.
Transgender people are viewed as "strange" or "diseased" by most cishet folk because of their simple inability to comprehend those who are different from them.
However, they are, at the very least, becoming more and more visible in both media coverage and the regular everyday life. And their existence had become much more digestible to the general mainstream culture under the oversimplified explanation how transgender people are just "people who feel like, and desire to be, the opposite gender".
Then what can someone tell me about those of us who've always felt like multiple genders at once.
As previously mentioned...
I was born and raised a male but always felt like the other half of me is missing. Like this gender identity I possess is only half of the entire truth.
Because I've always felt like I was meant to be both a man and a woman at the same time. And this is not just when speaking about my identity, but body and mind as well.
Even my genital always felt incomplete without the lady bits.
And that's when I learned of the old Greek legend of a "Hermaphrodite", or "Hermaphroditus".
Now, for those of you who are not familiar with this term, let me explain...
There are multiple versions of this ancient myth, but they all share one major important aspect in common.
Hermaphroditus was the bastard child of Aphrodite, goddess of love, and the messenger god - Hermes.
"It" was described as a two-sexed being of both male and female likeness and was considered an important symbol in fertility and marriage unions, as it symbolized both "power of a man" and "beauty and compassion of a woman".
But, as it turns out, Ancient Greek people were not the only nation known for such a tale.
Majority of the Hinduistic pantheon are gods and goddesses described as at least partially androgynous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Come forth, Ardhanarishvara
The one whose name would literally translate "Half-Female Lord" from Sanskrit.
The form taken by the very supreme god Shiva when merging with his consort goddess, Parvati.
Ardhanarishvara represents the synthesis of masculine and feminine energies of the universe (Purusha and Prakriti) and illustrates how Shakti, the female principle of God, is inseparable from (or the same as, according to some interpretations) Shiva, the male principle of God, and vice versa. The union of these principles is exalted as the root and womb of all creation. Another view is that Ardhanarishvara is a symbol of Shiva's all-pervasive nature. And that's not even mentioning traditional Hindu notion of the "third gender" people known as hijras.
Or who can forget the gender nonconforming individuals of ancient Hawaiian and certain Native American tribes. "Two-Spirit" individuals, as they are called today.
These men and women behaved in a manner befitting both sexes and we're often permitted or even downright encouraged to participate in roles attributed to the opposite sex.
Mahū, as they were called in Hawaii, were "third gender" people with traditionally spiritual and religious roles in their society. Historically, it's been used primarily for those born male, but it's meaning had evolved since then and has come to refer to multitude of genders and sexual orientations in modern Hawaii.
Māhū were particularly respected as teachers, usually of hula dance and chant. In pre-contact times māhū performed the roles of goddesses in hula dances that took place in temples which were off-limits to women. Māhū were also valued as the keepers of cultural traditions, such as the passing down of genealogies. Traditionally parents would ask māhū to name their children.
The term itself may be used either pejoratively or respectfully when referring to modern LGBTQI+ people of Hawaii.
But yes
All these traditions and mythologies aside,
Hermaphroditism and Intersexuality had always been so very intriguing and inviting for me. Imagine my surprise to learn that over half of the plant world is hermaphroditic and in possession of both male and female reproductive parts. The same thing applies to creatures such as snails, slugs, leeches, etc. Not to mention a pseudo-hermaphroditism that occurs in female hyenas and cassowaries evolving pseudo-penises.
Or the very people who are born Intersex and thus possess characteristic of both sexes.
Gender dysphoria has been something I've come to consider a lot. Especially as of late. And I cannot deny that I've always felt amused when somebody happens to misgender me online.
Once I had been referred to as "ma'am" by an online friend of mine when rp-ing as a genderless character from an old video game.
I was intrigued not because I found it funny but rather endearing. Something deep inside told me that calling myself ma'am feels just as right as being announced as sir.
I've always felt as intersex in a way. At least in my subconscious.
I've always identified as pan or bi and felt attracted to both men and women (especially to dominant, muscular ones but that is a story for another day). But I was always particularly fond of gay shippings and stories. And it's very fun to see many best fanfics blur the line between "passive/feminine" partner and an "active/dominant" one. Only further emphasizing the duality within human being.
But, of course, my yearning to explore more themes of gender nonconformity and "Intersexuality" do not stop there.
Intersex People sorely lack in representation and it is never unwelcomed to behold a cool fictional character falling under that category.
Tumblr media
Seeing The Titan from The Owl House present themselves as bigender being was beyond awesome.
Tumblr media
Not to mention that, while I don't know if they can be counted as such, Raine Whispers perfectly captures an androgynous non-gender specified appearance.
Tumblr media
Or the amazing Body Swap mode that Shovel Knight offers to it's players. In which you are not only able to genderswap any important member of the original cast (and thus create semi-canon queer romances 😉), but also put your titular protagonist into a female body while giving then gender neutral or even masculine pronouns.
And how a very similar thing is included in the critically acclaimed masterpiece that is Elden Ring.
Tumblr media
In which you are not just able to change your character's gender and body type at will, but also experiment with them. Putting a female head on a male protagonist (and vice versa) is a memorable and progressive feature for sure.
Sadly, however
Such portrayals aren't always in positive light.
One of my all time fav 3D Platformer franchises, Ty The Tasmanian Tiger, does include a villainous eldritch race of hermaphroditic shape-shifting extraterrestrials known as "Quinkans". Who serve as the main antagonists of the 3rd installment.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also applies to old myths.
Take the old Romani mythology that includes a horrific self-fertilizing Poreskoro
Tumblr media
The progenitor of many illnesses that wreak havoc upon humanity to this very day.
But as with everything else. Bad ones should be separated from the good portrayals and not be taken as the root of all beliefs, thus giving rise to prejudices and negative assumptions.
And for the sake of not making this post hours long, I shall just end it by announcing my support for all the other people who feel similarly about themselves. And to say that it feels so very liberating to be true to one's self.
Yes I AM a guy. But I am also equally a woman. Not neither. But both. And I am so very glad to be a part of this wonderful social media where differences between people are highly celebrated and explored.
And I want to thank anyone who took time and energy to read through this little article of mine. Hope it wasn't too long or tedious to read.
And with that, I wish you all a wonderful day 💐💖

🔥 wild card: dealer’s choice of quote from a wip :)
☀️ asker’s choice of published work: request a quote from a published work (a certain work or series? a certain character? a certain emotion or trope if it’s there? up to you!) You got any mythology stuff on you? (I have apparently missed a lot, since I only joined the fandom in February)
Always a joy to see your work, by the way!!!!
hmm i almost did one of many tower variations but here have an extremely sick nicholas instead
He feels cold and shaky, and Milligan is warm. He closes his eyes, and the pounding in his head fades a little as he soaks in the heat.
It takes him a full second to register what he’s done—mostly because he can feel with unfortunate clarity the sharp breath of surprise Milligan takes—but he can’t force himself to pull away. He’s so tired and cold, and leaning against Milligan is slowly but surely draining some of the pain.
“S’ry,” he mumbles into his shirt, taking in a quiet, rattling breath. He has to get up. He has to push himself up, shaking arms and weak muscles be damned, and stop literally burdening Milligan.
But as he weakly stirs, a low, barely audible whine catching in his throat at how it hurts, Milligan’s arm comes up to almost wrap around him. One large, calloused hand goes to the nape of his neck, palm almost hot against his cold skin and the small, damp curls there.
Nicholas shivered, lashes fluttering a little as whatever resolve he had to force himself away evaporated; and he sagged back into Milligan’s side limply. Oh. Oh, that was nice.
ooooooh..... well, you're always welcome to go back through my works on ao3 (there's a lot, but keep in mind a LOT of them are fairly short oneshots) but i can see if i can remember any other mythology references besides minotaur. (although that's certainly the one with the most overt/heavy mythological references/themes.)
all i could think of off the top of my head was from "the color suits you" which is not about mythological themes but does contain this...
“—not that the Hellenistic gods are exactly known for their common sense,” Mr. Benedict was saying with some scorn, although his excitement kept shining through, “but it’s—it’s silly, it’s stupid! Aphrodite—she’s the goddess of beauty—” he waves his hands aggressively with every word as if to accentuate his annoyance, “—of course she’d win a beauty contest, what did they expect? Just let her have this, it’s literally her whole—her whole—” he struggles to find a word for a moment, hands pinwheeling, then finally triumphantly exclaims, “thing! Her whole thing!”
“Mm,” Milligan hums, wisely agreeing without interrupting.
“Not that Paris was reasonable either,” he says, head falling back and pressing against Milligan’s thigh. “Being the king of everything sounds stressful, but wisdom from Athena herself seems like a pretty good deal, doesn’t it? Not that them offering is really much of a beauty contest, anyway, but—he really went with a married woman. Because she’s attractive, I guess? He doesn’t even know her! I don’t understand people sometimes. And—well, obviously, it doesn’t turn out well, and anyone could have seen it was a bad idea—” he tilts his head, “—well, to be fair, it's unclear how much he actually knew, but—still. Just the most beautiful woman. You don’t even know her!” He shakes his head.
“You do know Paris is a fictional character,” Milligan says, with some amusement.
“Ah! Yes! Yes, yes,” Mr. Benedict says, “A mythical one, at that, a—a representation, a, a, a sort of. vessel for—for ideals, and stories, it’s really less—the more psychological, ah, ideas of characters, with, with interiority, that’s really—really a later development, but—”
He seems to be winding up to another topic—which Milligan is listening to with seeming genuine interest—but as fascinating as this is, Dipika did actually come for a reason.
important to know he's in the world's ugliest hawaiian shirt for this whole infodump

Percy Jackson like book - Updates
I came up with a name. I think I'm gonna go with Homichlōdia.
Homichlōdēs is the ancient greek word for foggy. I found it a while ago whilst trying to make a AU.
I think I'm gonna go with the concept of a wandering island that can dock onto land. When it does that it brings fog over the land, so dense that it hides the beach and therefore the island.
I'm gonna call the planning and writing of this book Project Homichlōdia so if anyones interested they can check out the tags for that in future.
I'm currently working on a lot of stuff and I already have some things.
-The main character is a trans boy and a son of Ares.
-In the universe all types of mythology coexist, but children of one type usually only attract beasts from that same type.(= f.e. a child of Hermes most likely doesn't have to fear Fenrir).
- hijabi daughters of Aphrodite and Athena (part of the idea of giving a war goddess a hijabi daughter was definetely not to prove Riordans "she took off her hijab to fight better" was unnecessary /sar)
-There's one european folklore dragon
-Medusa has a blind hawaiian wife
-Since Athena is a virgin goddess her children will not be biologically hers.
This idea is still rather fluid but here are some plans:
•She chooses wich children to give some of her powers to after those were born (by seeing their possible potential)
•She chooses the pregnant person to support and give them strength, wich will then have it's influence on the child
•She gives strength and power to children that have lost their mother
I think I might take the 2. and 3. options.
-Hades and Persephone will either not have mortal children at all, or they have similar ways to Athena.
-Multiverse makes it possible for all myths to be accurate at once because I'm not going to choose
-Neither Hades nor Ares are villains
-Aphrodites war aspect will be acknowledged
-Children of minor gods also get cool powers
People already said they want a child of Morpheus with dream powers and representation of norse gods.
I'm also working on these 9-picture character introductions that people do for aesthetics. Once I get artbreeder to give me a good picture of my main character I will post the first bunch.

Rose Flower Essence
“Roses are red, Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet, and so are you…”
Tumblr media
So goes the few lines of a famous poem, which has been re-written in so many versions.
But even with its many variations, what the poem tries to convey is the message that a rose, which comes from the Latin word “rosa,” is the flower of love, specifically the red one.
Traditionally, red roses are given to a woman to symbolize love, romance, deep emotions and desires. In fact, roses have been closely associated with Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love, lust, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation.
The rose also became associated with the Virgin Mary after the Christianization of the Roman Empire, the symbol of which eventually led to the creation of the Holy Rosary and other Christian devotional prayers.
But perhaps, many people know roses as just ornamental plants used to beautify a garden. What others don’t know is that roses are also used in different cuisines as flavoring. In France, rose syrups are widely used, which are extracted from rose petals. Concentrated squash made with roses is also popular in a place in India, including rose-flavored ice cream and other frozen desserts.
But roses are particularly useful as ingredients in commercial perfumes owing to their sweet scent.
Using roses as the main ingredient, Dr. Jayme Jensen, a holistic doctor who boasts of many years of experience as an intuitive in alternative healing, formulated Kilauea Rose, a vibrational flower essence that helps a person open up to love and trust, enhance discernment, and promote emotional healing.
A flower essence is a form of medicine that contains the vibrational energy of flowers and is used as therapy to improve a person’s negative thoughts and emotions, which can affect his or her overall well-being.
Kilauea Rose is one of the flower essences that Dr. Jensen formulated under the Shanti Kai Hawaiian Flower and Mineral Vibrational Essence line, the largest of its kind available in the market today.

31. Despite the bad representation they usually get, the Aphrodite Cabin becomes a safe space for LGBTQA+ campers. Kids come to them left and right asking for coming out advice, how they can begin to take the step to transition and their own pace, how ace kids don’t feel sexual attraction, and even how to come to terms with their sexuality. After all, love is love.
