Wing Beifong is one of the twin sons of Suyin Beifong, the matriarch of Zaofu and a master metalbender. Alongside his brother Wei, Wing grew up in the artistic and technologically advanced environment of Zaofu, where innovation, individuality, and creative expression were highly valued. As a member of the Beifong family, Wing inherited strong earthbending and metalbending abilities and underwent rigorous training from a young age.

Wing is energetic, mischievous, and enjoys pushing boundaries both in training and daily life. His fighting style is acrobatic and fluid, often working in tandem with Wei to create seamless dual-attack strategies that highlight their close bond. While often seen as the more easygoing and impulsive twin, Wing has a deep sense of loyalty to his family and a strong moral compass.

Wei complements Wing's impulsiveness with a more calculated and tactical approach during battles. Their twin bond is evident in combat, as they move with near-symbiotic coordination. Wei’s quick reflexes and precise bending techniques make him a formidable opponent in both sparring matches and real combat situations.

Wei is openly gay and comfortable in his identity, though he tends to keep his romantic interests private. Known for his dry sense of humor and perceptiveness, Wei is more reserved than his twin but just as loyal and brave.

HEADCANON Wing Beifong – Headcanons -Occasionally selfish, like when he took the fruits for himself at the dinner. -Occasionally has to share a bed with Wei, in which case he hogs all the pillows. -Likes starting fights when in a bad mood. -Sleeps on his back -Dabbles in recreational drugs, to his brother’s dismay Adrenaline Junkie Wing gets a thrill from testing limits—whether it’s extreme metalbending parkour, racing mecha suits through Zaofu’s towers, or exploring forbidden caverns. He’s always dragging Wei into high-stakes fun (much to Wei’s annoyance).

Surprisingly Artistic Inspired by his mother’s appreciation for the arts, Wing picked up sculpting. His metal sculptures are chaotic but expressive, reflecting his emotional depth under all the mischief. He even has an art exhibit in Zaofu under a pseudonym.

Bisexual Disaster Energy Wing flirts without even realizing it—charming everyone from Fire Nation nobles to Earth Kingdom guards. He’s had a few flings, but secretly wonders if he’ll ever find someone who can keep up with both his heart and his chaos.

Wei Beifong – Headcanons -Sleeps on his stomach -Wei was born first The Quiet Strategist Wei is a master tactician, often the brain behind the duo’s success in sparring or missions. He keeps detailed journals, diagrams of battle strategies, and even blueprints for hypothetical city defenses.

Loyal Romantic Wei is more reserved in love, but when he falls, he falls hard. He once planned a full moonlight metalbending performance for a boyfriend who loved dance—and blushed the entire time.

Soft Spot for Bolin Wei developed a quiet crush on Bolin during their time in Zaofu. He admired Bolin’s kindness, goofy charm, and how he always made people feel seen—something Wei, with his more guarded demeanor, deeply appreciated. Though he never confessed, Wei would subtly linger when Bolin visited, always a bit more talkative (and flushed) around him.

Protective Older Brother Energy (with a Hint of Motive) Wei took a shine to Kai early on—not just because the teen had potential, but because Kai reminded him a little of a younger Bolin: scrappy, eager to prove himself, and hopelessly impulsive. Wei started mentoring Kai in metalbending basics (even though Kai wasn’t an earthbender), offering advice, training drills, and the occasional gruff “you’re better than this, don’t half-bend it” talk. Though he’d never admit it out loud, part of Wei hoped Bolin would notice how good he was with younger benders—maybe even picture him as part of a family.

Fashion Sense While Wing wears whatever’s comfortable, Wei lowkey loves fashion. His wardrobe is sleek, understated, and always tailored. Rumor has it he helped design Zaofu’s newest uniform line.

Coffee Addict Wei can’t function without his morning cup of coffee—black, no sugar. Wing teases him for being a “grumpy old man” before caffeine. Wei doesn’t deny it.

Shared Twin Headcanons -Both twins occasionally change their hair style to mess with people by disguising as the other twin. -Like to sleep in when possible, because usually up late working out. Twin-Fused Metalbending Technique The brothers develop a signature move where they fuse metalbending attacks into a single coiling strike—one distracts, the other constricts. It’s become legendary in Zaofu training circles.

Mental Link Wing and Wei share such a strong bond that they can often predict what the other is thinking in battle. They call it "twin intuition," and it works disturbingly well.

Pranking Suyin As teens, they had a running bet to see who could prank their mom without getting caught. Suyin always caught them but secretly admired their creativity.

Tattoo Twins They get matching tattoos of the Zaofu crest—Wing on his bicep, Wei on his shoulder blade. It’s both a tribute to their home and to each other.

Fierce Defenders of Family Both are ride-or-die for their family. When Baatar Jr. returns seeking redemption, Wing is hesitant but willing to give him a chance. Wei is skeptical but ultimately supports reconciliation—for the family's sake.

Headcanon that WWX used the song Wangxian as a lullaby for himself and a-Yuan in the burial mounds. He associates it with the safety, security, and serenity that he associates with LWJ even if he doesn’t remember that’s why. He associates it with his head being cradled in LWJ’s lap, his hands carding through WWX’s hair as he takes care of him when he’s suffering the fever from the infection. He associates it with being held and cared for.

So, when he’s thrown into the burial mounds by Wen Chao, he hums that song to himself a lot when he’s feeling scared and like he needs some comfort. (Which is a lot bc he’s in the Burial Mounds where everything is trying to kill him.) Even after he escapes the Burial Mounds, he hums and sings it to himself for self soothing. A little something to keep the voices of the dead from driving him insane and remind him of how to be human.

He plays it when trying to calm spirits and fierce corpses if the other songs don’t work or he just wants to use this one instead. He pours his heart and soul and humanity into playing it so it may remind the dead just as it does him of that comfort and safety it holds in its notes. The love it offers brings him back from the edge of madness many times, so he holds the song close to his heart for when he needs it.

It is only natural then, that when a-Yuan asks him for a lullaby that he plays that one. Whether it’s notes ring out of Chengqing or fall softly from his lips, he gives this melody to the boy in hopes it will bring the same comfort it does him.

So, of course, when he’s newly resurrected, this is the song he plays to calm Wen Ning. It is a song he has long associated with calming erratic emotions, safety, security, love, and, perhaps most importantly, reminding one of their humanity.

Won't add the link due to my personal blogging policy here, but, to imply Wei Wuxian's own revenge is somehow similar to Madam Yu.... is ignoring the adage "correlation does not mean causation".

Madam Yu is a petty and hateful individual, that does not mean Wei Wuxian himself learned this rhetoric purposely or subconsciously and is mimicking her. That was Jiang Cheng that took Madam Yu's way of life as his own. To the way he carries himself, is hateful others distance themselves from him due to his behavior, how he treats a child, that is of his own blood, as an extension of himself instead of individually, and is jealous of a dead man who has been dead for over a decade.

He does not emulate Madam Yu or any of the Jiangs, as he tells us, multiple times, he has his OWN parentage despite being grateful to the Jiangs for the opportunity to serve them as a cultivator of Yunmeng Jiang. But he makes it blatantly aware, he does not see either Jiang elder as his parents, and guardians in name, are very different from saying they are your family.

Jiang Cheng walked forward without a care for anything else. Wei WuXian was so mad that he threw himself over and clenched his neck, “Answer me if you heard me! Are you looking for a fight?!”

Jiang Cheng spat, “Go back to your bed and lie down properly!”

Wei WuXian, “I can’t do that, we need to get things straight! You really mustn’t listen to those messed-up nonsense.”

Jiang Cheng spoke coldly, “What messed-up nonsense?”

Wei WuXian, “Those things dirty your mouth even if you just say them. Both of my parents are real people in this world. I don’t want others assigning me to other households!”

He also informs Lan Wangji he wants to emulate his mother's words.

Wei WuXian propped his arm on Lil’ Apple’s head, spinning Chenqing in his hand, “My mom said you have to remember the things others do for you, not the things you do for others. Only when people don’t hold so much in their hearts would they finally feel free.”

This was one of the only things he remembered about his parents.

With that in mind, remember the entirety of his "revenge" against Wen Chao, Wang Lingjiao and Wen Zhuliu was in the name of Yunmeng Jiang for having used disgusting tactics to overtake Lotus Pier, and this was eye for an eye comeuppance. It was out of his sense of honor and obligation to his home seat he served under. Madam Yu was just a petty individual who did what she did to Jiang Fengmian and extension Wei Wuxian, purely out of her insecurities and hate. Her vengeance was self serving without any assistance to others benefit.

Just because Wei Wuxian CAN be vengeful is not causation of learned behavior of Madam Yu. He is proudly independent and open about wishing to live up to how his parents lived and how he interacts with the world first and foremost.

Honestly I'd really like to see a mxtx3 story where wwx and xl work with Sqq to reveal sqq's true backstory and the system to lbh.

I mean, think about it!! One of the biggest problems with scum villain is how even though they get together, unlike the other couples bingqiu is still left with all these huge secrets that massively affect them both. Lbh is left believing he married his mercurial abuser, that his suffering passed some sort of indefinable test that proved him worthy of basic rights. That Sqq threw him in the abyss of his own volition. That Sqq was really sacrificing his life and not faking his death with intent to survive.

Sqq is left knowing all these things but unable to act on them, unable to tell his husband about his own past, unable to explain his actions, never able to fully let his guard down because he's supposed to be shen qingqiu. He can't even tell his own husband his original name!! If he could have, he would have, even if only in the extras!

But can you imagine???

A meeting of bingqiu, wangxian, Hualian, for whatever reason, and as the three (actual) protagonists chat and gossip and get to know each other, as they talk, Sqq is at ease enough to slip up and finds out he can talk about the system to anyone from outside pidw! Not just sqh!! Maybe not completely, but he can mention some, and the other two, concerned for their new friend, are clever enough to tease the rest out. They're horrified. Sqq is resigned but freshly hopeful.

And so begins Mission: Save Sqq's Marriage!

(Sqq would very much like to contend the title but he is out voted.)

I'd just love to see the three of them (with unquestioning aid from their husbands) get up to hijinks and face existential horrors on a quest to help bingqiu get the closure they need. And moshang too, I guess XD.

It'd also be very, very funny to have them all in the middle of the latest traumatic and/or mortifying scene look around at the other two like 'hey, aren't you supposed to be freaking out now? This is normally the part people start screaming' and the other two are like 'I mean I guess?? We've got things to do though' like kings of unflappable repression right there.

(and lbh and lwj having vinegar-offs while hc is sighing dreamily watching his husband make semi decent friends for once)

Like there's a bunch of crossovers but none really scratch that itch, you know? The main characters of all 3 mxtx?? There's so much potential for Truly Unhinged Shenanigans!! Wangxian visiting pidws wife plot filled world and disappearing into the wilderness for a full week, coming back with every single piece of clothing they brought ruined. Hualian go visit mdzs and and no one believes xl is a diety and hc chomping at the bit to kill them for the injustice. Bingqiu going to tgcf and lbh getting mistaken for a calamity, or Sqq falling into the one wife plot kidnapping or something intended for a diety.

But seriously imagine Sqq complaining about something and wwx and xl immediately going 'that's not right! You deserve better!!' and Sqq is like 'no it's fine I'm used to it' and the other two slam their fists on the table like 'no!!! If [husband] was forced to keep that kind of secret I'd hate it!! You two deserve to be properly happy!! Let us help! We can fix this!' and start working with zeal and vigor while Sqq trails along embarrassed half heartedly muttering 'it's not that bad >:/'.

And when it works (presumably some clever loophole they stumbled on) and bingqiu are tearfully kissing they share a low five without looking. Or that one meme where the person getting kissed holds their hand back and their wingman enthusiastically high fives it but there's two wingmen XD!

I don't knowww but it'd be such a good premise! Ripe for character interactions!! Fluff! Crack! Angst! Daytrips and pouring their hearts out to people who'd really understand! Xl wwx and Sqq bestie team up! Meeting moshang! Wwx info dumping about his monster index categorisation to an enthralled Sqq! Xl and Sqq bemoaning etiquette while wwx laughs at them! Xl and wwx having intense discussions about morality and righteousness! All three of them laughing at how oblivious they were about their husbands, each trying to one the other two for Dumb Moments They Should Have Realised (Sqq wins by horrifying the other two)!

Forget cross country kidnappings and being locked in a room! Where is my protagonist trio getting into trouble on a self imposed mission to help their friend! Let their magnetism for insanity shine!!

Ngl y'all i see absolutely no problem if some people in the fandom see wei wuxian and Jiang Cheng as brothers to each other - like with all due respect that isn't hurting anyone.

We've got different povs regarding the characters + the storyline so - .. u can disagree surely without bashing the other side for having different hcs 😭.
