Kiriona Gaia/Her Divine Highness AU where Gideon escapes from the Ninth to join the Cohort, and gets claimed by John only a year or two before canon.

The lyctor trials happen approximately on schedule, but this time it's a combo event! Who Wants To Be A Lyctor, and The Bachelor Nine Houses: a chance to win the hand of Her Divine Highness Kiriona Gaia, only daughter of the Emperor Undying!

There are two main reasons for The Bachelor competition, one Gideon knows about and the other she doesn't:

One: She's a plant to manipulate the lyctor trials. John's a bit more invested this time around, after the whole baby plot reveal left him bereft and short-handed. He wants Gideon to get to know all of the candidates and report back to him.

Two: John thought it would be funny and is trying (and badly failing) to wingman for his socially awkward daughter.

Gideon is John's plant in the lyctor competition, but the marriage contest is a setup for Gideon. Here you go, kid, your very own fantasy romcom scenario, now will you finally make a move on that girl you're physically incapable of shutting up about?

in a hypothetical timeline where michael wasn't scooped and he has his healing era, michael gets tattoos in remembrance of the victims. but rather than a quote or someone else's design, he gets their birth month flowers on one of his forearms. he designs them himself, starting with evan, elizabeth, and charlie, but later adding ones for the five missing children as well.

it feels more authentic to him this way, and he likes that they have this idea of rebirth to them, one that can represent the peace they hopefully found when their souls were freed.

I know Tamsyn has a preferred answer to this (Corona) but I don't find this a particularly helpful way to think of them. They're terrible in ways that inform, comment on, and cumulatively radicalize each other.

Probably the role swap AU, because the coffeeshop AU, while fun, is an obvious joke, and we're seeing something vaguely similar to HDH play out in canon whereas the role swap is going to have to stay unexplored.

aight, we’re back to knw hdh buddies au: aka the au where knw hdh went to the same high school and are actually kinda sorta friends

Kim Namwoon is loud and brash and irritating and angry, his teeth constantly bared like he’s holding out an invitation for a fight. But he is less so to you, probably because you’re someone he can talk at about mecha and military and random anime shows, and he doesn’t make fun of you when he realizes that you can’t string a sentence together for shit, and he laughs when you type out something biting and insulting about the people around the both of you.

He is, disturbingly enough, the closest thing you have to a friend. He might actually even be a friend. The fact that you feel something for him other than vague hatred is terrifying, because you hate people in general and the idea of having any emotional investment in anyone who you are not societally required to feel anything for is terrifyingly unfamiliar ground.

In one world, Kim Namwoon never finds you typing out a scathing reply to his forum post about G Gundam vs Gundam Wing. He never knows you as anything but a face in the crowd, never connects you with the Hermit King his captain deals with. In another world, he leaves school right away and dies on the subway home as the scenarios kick off. In this world, he is your friend(?), so he stays behind with you at school to chatter about how your opinions about good media are, objectively speaking, fucking shit, instead of leaving school right away and taking the subway home.

In this world, when reality breaks, Kim Namwoon curls his lips at the messages and popup screens hanging in the air, grabs your arm, and jerks his head toward the one boy that’s been bullying you for ages as everyone screams at the blood splattered on the floor.

“Hey. I’ll hold him down for you,” he says, his smile as sharp as the knife he presses into your hand.
