you knew you and farleigh wouldn’t last.

you knew deep down your relationship with him went to shit. constantly arguing, yelling, just everything.

yet here you were, in his bed, sore from yesterday’s stupid decisions. it was like a never ending cycle. you and him get into an argument, he storms out of your dorm, then when it’s night you always hear the same knock and each thing leads to another, every time.

farleigh has already left a while ago, leaving no trace other than the drawer with his extra pack of cigarettes opened. he always left without leaving anything because at this time of age, you two don’t have the time for that anymore. or in other words, don’t care to make the effort for each other anymore.

you make your way to the courtyard where farleigh was with felix and some other popular jackass guys. the tension from the argument you two had yesterday was still heavy in the air as you both didn’t come to a conclusion with farleigh calling you a whore from how you dressed and “talked” to guys. you two went back and forth yesterday, and even now, it was obvious by his expression that he wasn’t going to drop it any time soon.

you went up to him. “hey.” you intertwined your fingers with his as he glanced down to see your face, then giving your fingers a little squeeze and kissing your head before he went back to talking. even the tiniest bit of affection still brought butterflies from the pit of your stomach.

it also reminds you of what you two had before farleigh turned into a second replica of himself, forgetting details of him when he turned popular. before, he was sweet and a loving person, and you know it’s basic words to describe him but it purely fit the old him. you two were secure and enveloped in love endlessly, always doing some cliché lovers thing, for example, you two wore stupid silly matching “bff” necklaces from claire’s because for the life of him, couldn’t find a girlfriend and boyfriend one. you teased him when he told you this, saying “it’s claire’s, baby. i wouldn’t be surprised.” he scoffed and laughed it off.

farleigh persuaded you to wear your part of the heart. he was so excited and so proud of himself as he made you drumroll and overdo it for the reveal, and when he finally pulled it out of the bag, he was all giggles and smiled as he went over to help put your necklace on. there were struggles here and there, farleigh cursing at the “stupid bitchy hook” he would call, but when he eventually got it on, he smiled and giggled before hugging and kissing you in joy.

because farleigh cherished you and paraded you around, showing everybody that you were his and he was yours, you two became the star couple of oxford from how in love you both were. he went heavy on displaying affection, peppering you kisses, holding your hand, always having to be close to you and touch a part of you, like the lace of your skirt or the fabric of your sleeve, to remind himself that you’re still there. one of your favorite times is halloween, because whenever farleigh needs a kiss mark for his costume, he’ll run to you with your signature lipstick (which must i add, had to be waterproof because he didn’t want it to come off from him sweating) and bend down to your level so your kiss mark was on his cheek. most times, he didn’t even need a kiss mark. he just wants a kiss from you displayed.

but the popularity got to him, and it’s like he was a different person. he stopped leaving you morning kisses, he stopped buying you flowers often, he just decided to stop caring as much. and now, farleigh constantly argued. always grumpy about something and he took it out on you. you know that farleigh has a hard time expressing how he feels, so the only way he apologizes his actions is through sex. you knew that farleigh feared losing you.

you snapped out of your thoughts as farleigh smushed his cigarette butt into the grass. you look up at him before hugging him a slight tighter. even after everything, you still loved him a lot. the feelings you have felt since the beginning have always stayed blooming alive in you. he gazed down before he kissed your head and gave you a pat on the shoulder.

you shared first period english with farleigh. you both always sat next and close to each other, no matter how upset you two were at each other. throughout class as you tried to focus on the professor, you could always sense farleigh staring at you and taking note of every inch and every nook of you. he has a small habit of doing that which makes your heart flutter every time, until farleigh gets yelled at. “mr. start, instead of analyzing your girlfriend so much, what about analyzing the text in your hands? just a suggestion.”

a few kids laughed quietly at the professor's remark which makes farleigh scoff and a thin rosy layer spreads across his cheeks. he always looked adorable when he got flustered. you let out a little giggle and pitched his arm, making the corners of his mouth tug into a sweet smile before swatting you away before the professor told you two to quit it. you both immediately stopped, and after a little, you and him glanced at each other and tried to hold in your laugh. in small moments like this, even after everything, you still knew that farleigh was the same lovestruck boy from the start.

it was later in the night. everybody was in the pub. you sat on farleigh’s lap with an arm around his neck as he kept you close with his hand on your hip, drawing little shapes on your bare skin. the tension still remained and worsened when farleigh got drunk.

“your girl’s showing a bit of skin, farleigh.” some guy shot out.

“i know. she’s being a bit of a whore lately.”

you immediately felt your cheeks flush as you glared at farleigh, widening your eyes as all he did was shrug his shoulders. what the fuck did he just call you? you scoffed in disbelief before pushing him off and made past people and leaving. why would he just embarrass you like that? your heels clicked against the concrete as you shoved open the doors.

the shock of coldness from outside hit you greatly. you hugged yourself, trying to create some warmth as you originally arrived to the pub with farleigh’s jacket, but fuck that. you didn’t truly need him, right? you two lost the spark the relationship held a long time ago. you were fed up with every ounce of bullshit he brought when he came over. every argument, every insult he said to you, the complaining, why would you take any more from him?

you sat in your dorm, reading a book as you tried to stop thinking about what he called you at the pub. the clock was about to strike the second hour you’ve been at your dorm, when a knock was at your door.

you already knew who it was. the farleigh start, coming to ask for “forgiveness" which the story always ended the same in bed. but now, you had enough of his shit.

you went and answered the door, obviously pissed. farleigh groaned and did a quick eye roll when he saw your expression. “listen baby, i’m sorry okay? is that what you wanted to hear?”

you scoffed. “i’m sorry my ass. you can do better.” farleigh got more impatient by the second. “can you let me in at least?” a small bite was present in his voice which somehow instead of making you feel small and the burn in your throat, you stood your ground. “farleigh, i fucking deserve an apology. you humiliated me in front of everybody. why the fuck would you do that?” the anger was shown in your voice.

farleigh glared, him getting increasingly annoyed. “so that’s what all of this is about? chill the fuck out, everybody was drunk. nobody will remember it tomorrow.” he let out a small sigh and crept his hands onto your hips, drawing himself closer to you. “baby c’mon… i’m sorry okay? let me show you…”

you instantly grabbed his hands away from your hips. “oh, you’re going to fuck me as your apology? like how you always do?” you were pissed. it felt like everything you kept in for months just snapped out.

farleigh’s eyes widened. he never seen you talk and act like this to him. “baby, i just—“ you immediately cut him off. “don’t fucking call me that! i’m not your “baby” farleigh, for fuck’s sake.” you spat.

“c’mon, i’m sorry okay?” his tone softened a little. farleigh always had a hard time expressing his feelings. he moved into your doorway, trying to get closer as you kept backing up. when both of you were in the dorm, he closed the door behind him, still keeping his eyes on you.

he took a deep breath before adding on. “i didn’t mean when i called you a whore, i was just mad from yesterday…” farleigh tried to hold your hand but you snatched it away. “i don’t fucking care! you always do this. you just come here and pick out a problem about me. you were never like that before. if you don’t want to be with me, then just say that!”

farleigh’s heart dropped and he was at a loss of words for a second at the thought of him losing you. “nononono, baby, c’mon—“ “no farleigh,” you snapped, the tone and sharpness in your voice made his eyes widened a little, not ever seeing you react like this. “you always pick out everything i do, having me under your grasp and forcing me to be all this and all that for you! for fuck’s sake, you don’t even have a true apology! what, “let me show you”? is that your excuse every time?”

farleigh sputtered out excuses, tears filling up his eyes. the guilt and shame burned heavy and deep into his chest. “no—! i’m sorry, please listen…” he started becoming more desperate, trying to hold your hand to feel the comfort you brought to him and also to try and get you to hear him out, but you’ve had enough. “no farleigh. you fucking listen!” he sits down in one of the chairs, trying to tug at your hands as he pouts a little and his eyes become glossy. “baby—“ you immediately cut him off. “don’t fucking call me that farleigh! i’ve had enough of your shit. you know, fuck this. we’re done. get out of my dorm.”

farleigh’s heart immediately broke. as you walked away, he stood up and went after you, a whimper leaving him. “n-no! please, can we just talk about this? i love you—“ you turned and faced him before shooting back. “no you don’t! you would’ve never treated me like this if you loved me farleigh! never!”

you could see in his eyes how his heart just crumbled from your words. he let out a sob, tears slipping down his cheeks. farleigh truly loved you and you knew that. but you knew that this isn’t what you deserved. it was like you trying to save a dying flame but farleigh kept blowing it out.

farleigh held your hand tightly, even though you tried to free yourself. he was scared that you’ll slip out of his grasp and he’ll lose you forever. he couldn’t let that happen. you were the only thing he loved in his life. he needed you. he wouldn’t know how he’d cope without you. he sobbed more, the tears flooding out of his eyes as he choked and coughed on his spit. “i’m sorry! i’m so sorry… i truly love you, i was just scared baby, please believe me…”

“bullshit farleigh! fucking bullshit!” tears filled your waterline, and soon they were slipping out of your eyes. farleigh couldn’t handle seeing you cry, the guilt and regret burning deeper and deeper into his chest. it hurt him to see you like this and the worst part was that he knew he was the whole reason behind it. “baby please… i’m sorry, i love you, i-i can’t lose you…” farleigh was losing it more and more, his tears and sobs becoming louder as he hiccuped and tried to keep you close. he could never commit. past then, he was so scared of you finding someone better or you getting annoyed of his clinginess, so he just kept pushing you away. but you were the thing he loved most. if he reached a low, you were always there and he always said the same thing, “i’m so lucky to have you.”

every moment was replaying in farleigh’s head. every single one. every english period with you, every date, even the arguments. he didn’t care if you were yelling at him, all he wanted was to be around you.

and now he was going to lose that forever. and that thought made him break. he was drowning in all the regret and shame that was weighing him down. he let out a wrecking sob before just shutting down. he couldn’t take it. all he wanted to do was make it up to you, for everything to stop and go back to what it was. every mistake, every time he hurt you, he only wished to take it back because in pure reality, you were genuinely the only person he had and trusted. but because of his stupidness, he wouldn’t have you anymore. he feared this day, and now his whole world was just coming down. you felt the grip on your hand slowly become looser as the crying just took over him. his hands covering his face as he whimpered and cried, trying to hide himself from everything that was happening. it honestly hurt you to see him like that. you’ve never seen him just crumble and that stung your heart.

he let go of your hand, trying to stop crying and find his words. he knew that no matter how much fighting or pleading he did, you would never take him back. he tried to make the last moments, well, last. he grasped out for your touch, just wanting you to hold him and just wanting to feel the warmth and comfort of your touch. “p-please…” he begged. his voice was hoarse and dry as he kept sobbing.

you never wanted more to just give in and hug him. to just forget about everything and only think about his heartbeat in your ear, or the feeling of you all wrapped up with him while you both fell asleep mid movie. but you couldn’t. you couldn’t just keep letting yourself go back to him. this was once and for all.

“no farleigh. leave my dorm now, please.” you could see how all hope drained from his face, but he knew that you’ve made your decision. he let out a quiet cry before whispering, “goodnight. i-i love you.” a small whine leaving his lips as he finished. he took a glimpse of you, just trying to remember you and the love you both once had. after a little, he went to your door and left, the quietness of the door clicking close, rather than all the times he slammed it after leaving your dorm with another argument. the sinking of the door and his presence gone left you with the silence and everything that just happened finally coming to your brain and heart. you just stared, a part of you just hoping he’ll come back and say something once more, just so you could hear him for the last time in a row, but it never came. you two were always and forever, going to be numbingly obsessed with each other.

oikawa tooru has a lot of fans. even that might be an understatement. but, it’s true nonetheless. even you’ve fallen for that cheeky loser’s spell.

in your defense, there are many things to love about him; how funny he is, how much he cares, how devoted he is, not to even mention his looks.

so, yes, you may have fallen for him. a lot of girls have.

“but it’s different this time. we have the chemistry. if he wasn’t so busy with training, if i’d be able to run into him again and hang out with him, then i’m sure he’d feel the same way.” you tell your friends over lunch. one of them scoffs. “suuuure, keep telling yourself that. i watched that latest game he played in, there were at least 10 other girls who were thinking the same thing.”

“you don’t get it, you just don’t get it! we have so many mutual friends, it’s almost as if we were meant to meet, y’know?” you explain, sounding almost desperate as your heart stirs thinking about him.

and, among the many exploits you did to impress him, you started doing volleyball. “s/o-chann! what are you doing here?” oikawa walks over to you, new kneepads in hand. “oh— hey! just buying some things.” you explain to him, handing the cashier some money as they wrap up your new volleyball. “what about you?”

oh my god. this is your chance to hang out with him. sure, this was what you were hoping for, but not right now… what if you fail to serve so miserably that he ends up laughing at you? but, again, it’s hanging out with him!

“sure! i’m down to play!” you quickly recover from your anxious thoughts. “erm— while we’re both here, you wanna hang out for a while?” you ask, words falling out of your lips without your own accord. “aww, no can dooo… i’m here with iwa-chan, and he’s gonna get mad at me if i bring a girl back with meee…” he pouts. “next time though! i won’t go easy on you!” he laughs before waving you goodbye.

“noo, s/o-chan, don’t post it!!” oikawa shakes his head in distress, trying to grab your phone. “too late!” you laugh, hitting post on your new story, oikawa tagged. oikawa falls on top of your body, trying to grab your phone. “delete!” he demands, trying to reach for the phone you held up in the air while keeping you stuck on the ground.

you laugh at his feeble attempts, politely waving hello to one of your classmates walking into the store. “get up!! you’re so embarrassing, ‘kawa!” you try to push him off.

it was a good day, a really good day.

even without that romantic chemistry, there was definitely something between you two. and, everyone could feel it; the way conversation just flowed so naturally between you two when you were simply being yourselves, it was like breathing after drowning for so long.

it was like laughing for the first time. you’ve never gasped for air so much as you did when you were with him.

the next day, you’d walked into school, still happy from the fun you had after school yesterday. when you overheard someone’s conversation.

you frown as you try to get along with your day. it’s still alright though, even if most of the school population is against you, you still have your friends.

“s/o, we took a vote and most of us don’t want to eat lunch with you anymore.” your friend tells you, if you can still even call her your friend. the shock can barely even register before you nod. “oh. alright then.” you take your things to eat on one of the benches at school.

“ah! s/o-chan, what are you doing hereee?” oikawa sees you, staring daggers into the gardens. “huh? oh, i…it’s nothing…” you mumble. “don’t you have your own lunch table? why’re you here all aloneeee?” he asks.

and that’s when it finally sank in.

“i just wanted a change of scenery today, i’m okay.” you assure him, using all your willpower to hide the tears that threaten to fall out. oikawa frowns, feeling as if there’s something else, but decides not to pursue it. “hmm, okayyyy… well, if that’s all, i guess there’s no problem. i’m gonna go eat now then!” oikawa waves goodbye, on his way to iwaizumi’s table.

and when he’s finally gone, is when you finally let all the tears fall. this is such a stupid thing to cry about… being kicked out of a lunch table? there are so many other problems you could cry about…

you go to the bathroom to splash some water on your face, eyes all puffy from crying. when you get back to your classroom, you see two of your friends, or… ex-friends. it’s just for a split second, but they run out the other side of the classroom, trying to avoid you.

what was all this even for? because of being friends with a boy you liked? you never even dated, so what harm was done?

you’re so many things; smart, athletic, quite awfully pretty as well. you have your own interests, hobbies, and likes. why do you have to be reduced to liking oikawa? sure, you did talk about him an awful lot, but never recently.

idk why but i think itll be forced if gwyn and az get together. Like say elain accepts the bond and gets with lucien and azriel knows he has to step back and then suddenly he likes gwyn and they started to form a bond and get together. like... no. thats not it at all. like at least do some type of slowburn for gwynriel if elain and lucien get together. (Idk why but I keep thinking itll be like a forcing thing if elain and luc get together because they know they are mates. LIKE IT JUST WONT HIT THE SAME) But, I think thats why im so built up on elriel and cant fully ship the other ships because theres nothing for me to fully ship.

My meeting got cancelled just now and I'm in a silly goofy mood so let me just say this: if I were SJM and I for some reason DID intend to write Elucien or Gwynriel, I would not have done it this way. I don't think any writer would've done it this way.

The way the books are currently written, it is a clear setup for Elriel. People who deny that are those who still hold out hopes for their preference of ship, but the writing does not support that. It has not supported that since ACOWAR.

Not that I am in any way SJM equivalent but here's how I would've done it, starting from ACOWAR, which was when she started actively planning Nesta & Elain's spinoffs. (And this is in no way Anti Lucien or Gwyn. But I'm tagging it anti because I don't want them getting any ideas lmaooo)

1. The second they got back to the Spring Court, have Lucien grow a backbone and tell Tamlin he's going after Elain. Not simply "Get her back" but "I'm getting her back." (Ring any bells?)

Not wait for Feyre to leave and tag along to see if Elain was "worth fighting for", not simply think about how Elain had been thrown at him, not even think about Jessiminda. I would've had Lucien take action himself. He would've left to go after Elain immediately, and Feyre would've followed HIM - or waited till she got the spring court fucked up and then followed him.

2. Have Lucien be patient with Elain. Have more than just one awkward conversation with Elain. Have Feyre observe multiple moments between them. Have Elain slowly soften to him or get used to his presence. Have Lucien sit in the garden with Elain. Have him frown at her words and bring them up to Feyre and actually try to help her. But most importantly I would've had Lucien figure out her powers. (Sound familiar? Good. It should.)

3. Have Azriel go volunteer to find Vassa, not Lucien. Perhaps he goes into the library to research (starting the foundation for Gwynriel very subtly). Have Lucien join the IC as they fight at SC, have Lucien join them at the HL meeting. Have Lucien go into an angry rage at seeing Graysen and how that man's words hurt his mate. Have him comfort Elain and say "I'll wait - however long it takes."

4. Have Lucien save Elain from Hybern's camp. Have Lucien go feral and break the wards around the camp - setting up for his parentage plotline - and winnow in and save her. Have Elain kiss his cheek. Have Elain finally see him in a different light. (Wow where have I seen this before?)

5. Have Elain willingly invite him to Velaris at the end of ACOWAR. Have Lucien take her up on that offer.

6. In ACOFAS, have Elain & Lucien get each other presents. Elain does not get Azriel a gift, just Lucien. She appreciates the gardening gloves. Gets Lucien ... a fishing rod or hair tie or something idk "here's a rod: for all the fish that you catch with your hands" 🤣🤣🤣 Lucien laughs and Feyre thinks "wow I've never seen him so happy"

7. Continue to develop their relationship in the background of ACOSF. Lucien offers to help Elain train her powers in the background (idk how he would but still). He is there at solstice and gets her another gift. Cassian thinks Elain is sneaking around with him but won't admit it. Lucien goes with them to Hewn city and gifts Elain a dress that suits her better and is from the Day court or whatever. There's a bonus chapter with LUCIEN's POV where Elain & Lucien are about to kiss but they get interrupted and Lucien feels bad he pushed her too far so he says sorry this was a mistake. Miscommunication trope ensues.

8. After ACOSF, start their book with a major conflict that comes up immediately. For some reason, Lucien & Elain go to Day court to research and train her powers - maybe they have a Seer there idk. make something up, a la CC3 translation bean. Their friendship has been steadily growing since ACOWAR, and now it turns to love.

I would've set Elucien up for a slow burn, friends to lovers romance from the second Elain got chucked out that cauldron.

But again, SJM did not write it that way. She wrote all those key pivotal moments with Elriel, not Elucien. It would've been so easy to do the storyline above. It would've made us root for them more by the time their book came around. Lucien was a main character since book 1 (before he fell off) so their story would've been eagerly anticipated.

And I could do this same thing for Gwynriel, but she didn't exist until ACOSF so it would be much much shorter and basically would be Nesta noticing ACTUAL romantic moments between Gwyn & Azriel (not "bye Shadowsinger" or "you're new ribbon Az" but actual romantic attraction - like Azriel physically helping Gwyn cut the ribbon and touching her - with her consent ofc - and Gwyn blushing at him). Like - do the antis realize how EASY that would've been? I dare say it would've been easier for SJM to write Gwynriel than any moment with Elriel at that point in ACOSF, because Nesta spent more time with Gwyn.

There's absolutely no way SJM wrote the books this way with all this Elriel buildup, just so she could have a shock factor (?) of "Elain & Lucien are mates but she avoids him for 3 books and gets with Azriel but SURPRISE- Elucien is actually endgame! And Az gets with Gwyn!"

That just doesn't make any sense. At all.

Little moments that I love in Red White and Royal Blue. PART 7 (cannot stop sorry 🙈)

When Nora says how "Prince Henry is so yummy" Alex doesn't really contest Noras comment on Henrys good looks (read yumminess 😏), he just says how he is not really a good person (which he believed at that time) but that's besides the point. The important thing is that Alex seemed to be in agreement with that view 😏

When Bea snatches Nora away from Alex, you cannot tell me this wasn't intentional because like a moment ago she was telling Henry how she thinks Alex is hot and asked whether Henry met him or not. And next thing she does before Henry is about to meet Alex is take the one person Alex came to the party with away from him and make sure that person sticks with her the whole time. I see what you did there Bea 😏 and she was the most amused when Alex and Henry was having their little fight and the cake fell on them 😆

When Alex sees Henry talking so cheerfully with the cancer patient and stops to stare at them. He couldn't match his idea of Henry with this version. I love how he looks confused yet curious here.

He was observing a very oblivious Henry intently, and subconsciously he was allowing Henry to change his mind about him.

During the new years party, while dancing, Alex sees Henry sitting alone and comes running towards him and almost hits Henry's face with his 😆 (baby boy was drunk 😏) I love the energy with which he tries to lift Henry's mood up - "it's aaalll in the hips, LOOSEN UP!!", laughs with his entire face, hears his song and screams "OH MY GOD, this is the song of my childhood!!!" and says "you're dancing" and then he grabs Henrys hand and pulls him towards the dance floor. He is adorable here, always trying to keep Henry close or around.

Henry making this face when he says that his brother is completely oblivious about him being gay -

I noticed it only like a few days ago on my millionth rewatch of the movie and laughed so hard I almost fell off my bed 🤣

When Henry says that he has to belong to himself and he can only belong to someone else momentarily and Alexs first instinct is to hold his hand 🤧🤧 lt was too pure, too kind ❤️ and Henry says "not here" (and you can tell he is devastated that he couldn't let Alex take his hand) and Alex understands the sentiment immediately.

It's not like Alex didn't know where they were, plus Henry and he were just talking about Henry not being out to anyone but Bea. Alex still wanted to comfort Henry and to him, taking Henry's hand wasn't a romantic gesture, he just wanted to be supportive and make him feel better. But he understood Henry's predicament and played along.

When Alex writes to Henry "I'm out here giving my all for my mother. I cant have smut filling my inbox, corrupting my mind and bulging my pants like this! look buddy, you know I'm incorrigible, so don't incorrige me" and Henry writes "I'll behave" you can tell that Henry is trying to stifle a laugh and that he is so proud that he can make Alex feel that way 🤣 I know that it's supposed to be a written part in the movie but they had Taylor and Nicholas say these out loud and you can hear the emotions in their voices and I absolutely love Nicholas's delivery here.

My dumbass noticed something else a few days ago as well. That Alex practices speaking in front of the mirror before delivering his speeches. My boy really worked so hard to get his Texan votes 🤧

All the little scenes where Alex is shown to work in his Texas campaign perfectly capture Alex's passion for politics, his dedication to the Texan campaign, his desire to help mom with her election and his wish to do something for people. I love how this part also portrays how mature he and Henrys relationship has become. It was not about just their physical needs anymore, which is still there (obviously 😏) but they act as each others support system. The way Alex tells Henry about his fear "I'll only admit this to you and no one else..." that he is gonna let his mother down, and the way Henry reassures him 🤧 and then Henry says how his ribbon cuttings are so meaningless and how he wished he could do meaningful things like Alex. And even though Henry is not proud of it, Alex still makes sure to watch Henry's appearances. I love how sweet and kind and supportive they are to one another. And the passion with which both Nicholas and Taylor read theirs emails 🤧😭 so good!

At the V&A when they were slow dancing, you can't take your eyes off Taylor and Nicholas's hands 😍 they just keep lovingly caressing each other. It's soo beautiful to watch. They are so gentle and caring in those scenes.. Their eyes are soft, full of love 🤧 This is yet another scene where you can't possibly ask more from Taylor and Nicholas. They really went all in 👏

Their soft little smiles in this scene 😍🥺 Henry looks so relaxed and happy! They make me cry ok 🤧

My first instinct was no.. since Jangles is like 2.5-3 feet tall and I always imagined sans to be 4.5-5 feet tall. But google says sans 2 feet tall??? XDD If we're going by Googles standards then yeah Jangles is taller- but my heart dont want to believe he's that short 🤣💀
