The thing that gets me about even bringing up how he was perceived prior to returning in 2020 is HE didn't even like the character and was doing the best he could with what he was given. He was so unhappy that he was going to leave if he didn't get to be the Tribal Chief. People act like the story is what it is because WWE is hoarding all the good writing for the BL and ignoring that Roman finally has creative control of his character. If it could be replicated, wouldn't they have done it already after three years? And that's not to say there haven't been other great stories, there definitely have been, but it's not the same thing as a story where people are so invested that one segment from a weekly show (not even a PPV) will have 20 million views in less than a week.
Also I need people to make up their mind about what the problem with Roman is. Cause he takes up so much time that could go to the rest of the talent and if they had that time they could be as over as him but they also complain he's a part timer so what exactly is being done with all that Romanless time? It's almost like if he wasn't there you weren't gonna get that time anyway which is the booker's fault, NOT his.
Oh sis, but we are talking about two big problems at the bottom of all the controversies born around this storyline.
The first is that the story of the Bloodline is written by Roman, but nobody, not even the WWE (for obvious reasons) admits the truth. WWE writers can't write. They have less talent than me when I decide to give vent to my fantasies, I put aside the rules and logic of this job, to write a fanfiction. They write badly and consequently create badly their characters, the wrestlers. Roman planned in his free time a better story than them doing this job, he took control, he played it smart by calling Heyman and Hayes before convincing Vince, he made for the first time the big voice and he was right. Because in addition he took with him talented people and in whom he had total trust, who helped him unconditionally by adding their own talent and ideas, like the Usos, to his own. And he did it all because WWE was mishandling him and in his opinion, mine too, even mishandling his family.
The second big problem is how the majority of people see this man. Crowds people and the IWC is a thing, but among those who work in their business he has always been seen as a person who gives everything and now, because of this visibility, they too are changing their opinion. And I don't doubt that there's a bad mood about big roster issues, but there are people making serious accusations when during PLEs are sent eight hundred commercials to remind people what they're watching instead of giving them actual matches. There are people who talk about stolen time, when Mr. Rhodes makes three entrances with his entire music in a single episode of Raw even when he only has to say two words. When they give time to Seth, silent in the ring, allowing fans to stop Finn in his in ring promo. And I can go on... But ofc its Roman and his family too, they're better targets and they're on top for years now so the stolen time its their fault and with it, everything else. But the real reason its that they're on top, he is on top, they even getting better month after month, year after year, and the WWE have still not find someone to replace him and them. The sad thing is that now the other talents, unlike a few years ago, are feeling the abyss that came out with this storyline, they feeling how much they are left behind, but if they are there its not Roman's fault or the storyline, because him and the story have it gave momentum to a lot of people and those people now, they're slowly coming back because they're not in the story anymore, not because they're worth less or Roman is stealing their time. Sami and KO are wonderful, unique, but now they're again WWE toys like they were before the story with Roman and they are just the most simple example.

WWE - Best and Worst Booking from Wrestlemania 36 to 37
Wrestlemania 37 is in the books and so a new saga of WWE booking begins anew.
But the year has had its ups and downs, in the outside world and the booking, so - for doing something new - I'm gonna run down some of the best and worst booking decisions made by WWE from the Raw after Wrestlemania 36 to Wrestlemania 37 Night 2.
I will note, these are my opinions - some of which acts upon hindsight rather than 'in the moment' - and if you're gonna call me an anti-WWE mark rest assured I plan to do this for AEW too after Double or Nothing in May
Also, there is the off chance of spoilers...somehow? But it's worth covering that base
April 2020 Best WORST - Samoa Joe on Commentary On April 27th, Samoa Joe was called upon to replace Jerry Lawler (we'll get to that) on Commentary. Joe provided a great presence to commentary and it kept him on TV, we do still await his return but seeing more of Joe is a huge plus. EDIT: This was best until just now I learn that Samoa Joe has been released, the fuck WWE?
Worst - 'Ramen Noodle Moonsault' Part of what caused Lawler's replacement was the scrutiny caused by an April 13th call by Lawler during a match between Austin Theory and Akira Tozawa. He called a Step Senton a 'Ramen Noodle Moonsault', Lawler is rarely funny nowadays with his dated comedy but this was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Best - Giving Sonya and Mandy the Floor It could've been a huge down not to see Sonya vs Mandy at Wrestlemania after she was outed in manipulating Mandy away from Otis, but their feud managed to carry on strong all the way to Summerslam thanks to Sonya stepping up her game to come off as a fantastically asshole heel - which in turn made Mandy a sympathetic character. Their post-mania build allowed for an anticipated match, it was only unfortunate that an attempted irl kidnapping in August would sour the momentum and cause Sonya to take some justified time off.
Worst - Charlotte Flair on all 3 Shows Charlotte's NXT Title win did not go down as well as WWE had hoped, somehow giving the woman that had won next to everything another title reign at the expense of Rhea Ripley's Wrestlemania debut backfired on them. And unfortunately, exposing Charlotte on all 3 shows did not help matters at all, furthering the criticisms WWE have often faced when they overbook Charlotte on the upper card.
Worst - COVID-19 and Black Wednesday While not necessarily a booking thing, it was very bad of WWE to do what they did at the time. Another outbreak raised some backstage concerns over the conduct WWE, who had tried to not acknowledge the pandemic in the same vein then-president and somehow HOFer Donald Trump had done, were acting towards the pandemic. The worst of it all though was Black Wednesday, a mass exodus of talent in the height of the pandemic was never gonna be great PR, but a lot of the talent let go were very popular - Drake Maverick's video also cast a negative light on WWE even when they rehired him and used it as a storyline. While some found greener pastures to flourish, not everyone landed well on their feet, equally baffling was that WWE would then boast a quarterly profit before rehiring some of the staff they let go.
May 2020 Best - Giving the title to Asuka While we were all surprised to see Becky Lynch survive Shayna Baszler at Wrestlemania, nobody could dispute the post MITB segment on Raw when Asuka was rightfully awarded the title for winning the MITB. Being a shining light in the Empty Arena Era, Asuka was certainly a fan favourite choice to succeed Becky as she embarked on her journey towards Motherhood. A truly wonderful segment which showed that segments can pay off just as much as wrestling.
Worst - Not Pushing Otis While Asuka's MITB victory was done right, the same could not be said for the Men's Winner. Otis had the fan's backing and while his victory was surprising especially given the competition it had potential. Which WWE then squandered and buried as hard as they could. Otis never got to develop beyond a joke act, his love interest and partner taken from him, before he would months later lose it to the Miz.
Best - MVP joins up with Lashley Lashley was in a rough spot here. His main story was cucking Rusev by having an affair with Lana, and then marrying her. The pair was not built to last and mercifully we upgraded to the MVP/Lashley partnership. Together both men began their career resurgence as they now stand at the top of the pile, this was the beginning of the Hurt Business.
Worst - The Brand-To-Brand Invitational Much like how the Wild Card Rule was stupid, the Brand-To-Brand Invitational was also stupid. Often used as a tool for Survivor Series or to bring Charlotte or Corbin over with their bad heat, overall it served nothing for the fans or the booking, regardless of whatever they named it.
Best - The Fight Pit Timothy Thatcher can still do a lot more in NXT, but he still leaves a great legacy in introducing the Fight Pit. When there's not enough people for War Games but a Steel Cage won't do, the Fight Pit sold stiff aggression with its debut affair between Thatcher and Riddle, a brutal match only since done once more. It may have been done twice, but if someone calls for a Fight Pit you know shit's gonna go down.
Worst - Stripping Sami Zayn of the IC title, for staying safe Sami Zayn had finally won a championship on the Main Roster in March, then COVID happened. While WWE did make an outward statement that anyone who didn't wish to risk their health could exclude themselves, when Sami did it he lost the championship. This was rather hypocritical given that Jordan Devlin was still the Cruiserweight Champion and an Interim Champion was being crowned, rather than an official one like Smackdown did. While Sami would return to reclaim his title, his time away is still not acknowledged.
June 2020 Best - NXT start using old show names Partially due to AEW using Bash at the Beach, WWE decided to hold onto some of theirs and WCW's old PPV names. While this was slightly petty, the way they used them proved fortuitous in exuding nostalgia in a big way. To start, we had In Your House but this would also lead to the resurfacing of Halloween Havoc and Vengeance.
Worst - Not Firing Jaxson Ryker During this time the BLM protests were in full swing, so Jaxson Ryker decided this'd be the right time to praise Donald Trump on twitter. The backlash was high and his stablemates suffered for it as well, depushing and taking all the Forgotton Sons off TV. Jaxson Ryker still somehow has a job and tv time in WWE, and that continues to baffle.
Best - Maverick vs Fantasma in the Finals While exposing Maverick's firing was in poor taste, the story of the former GM chasing the title was one we can get behind. Paired with El Hijo del Fantasma finally getting the platform to debut after being hired in August 2019. The finals match would also beget to a strong title reign by Fantasma where he showed his charisma as a heel and birthing his faction Legando del Fantasma, as for Drake it led to a mismatch team with Killian Dain, it could be better but it could be worse.
Worst - Jeff Hardy vs Sheamus' narrative You'd think putting Jeff and Sheamus together would be fine, and the wrestling was indeed good. The storyline however was wrong, very wrong. Rehashing the Jericho/Punk angle, WWE decided a urine test angle would make for good TV - which was a particular low for both men.
Best - Io Shirai at the Top (which she could jump off of) When Charlotte won the NXT Championship from Rhea I vocally worried that this'd mean curtains for Io Shirai, the Stardom Ace had found her footing as the 'Mad Queen' heel character and won a ladder match to contend for the title, but she was going up against Charlotte Flair - WWE's 'Queen' who had already cut the legs from Asuka, Rhea and Bianca Belair - so the worry was high. Fortunately In Your House decided to give Io the much-deserved title win, granted she should've beaten Charlotte and Rhea was there to take the pin but this would begin Io's long reign as the female Ace of NXT, as well as jumping off of anything and everything on each TakeOver.
Worst - Street Profits vs Viking Raiders doesn't happen for Backlash During their time as Raw Tag Champs, the Street Profits engaged in an 'Anything you can do, I can do better' series with the Viking Raiders. The segments itself were mostly silly but some parts were admittedly humorous like the leg of meat popping up everywhere. But the payoff match on Backlash never came to be, instead we continued a cinematic brawl which would've been fine...but it had no conclusion. It ended in a bin, much like the feud was trashed, with the malice of the Viking Raiders mostly thrown away.
Worst - Nia vs Asuka ends in a Double Count Out Backlash 2020 already had the questionable booking of Profits vs Vikings, Braun vs Miz and Morrison and promoting Edge vs Orton as the 'Greatest Wrestling Match Ever'. But another that could not be let go was the women's title match. This was Asuka's first major defense, the storyline should have been her proving that she deserves the title and the best we got was Nia Jax. Like Profits/Vikings it could've been salvagable had there been a legitimate finish, but the match ended in a double count out, only to follow up with a Raw rematch - sadly this would not be the end of Asuka being poorly booked as champion.
Worst - Kairi's Injury Speaking of Nia, in a May taping that released in June Nia faced Kairi Sane in the build to her feud with Asuka. But Kairi came out of the match with a nasty head cut after being thrown into the steps. Unfortunately, this was not the first time Kairi had been injured by Nia so it was not a good look on Nia to repeat herself.
Worst - *Unmasks* 'Old Man Santos Escobar!?' When El Hijo del Fantasma revealed himself as the leader of the masked men, it began the stable Legando del Fantasma. But of course, 'El Hijo del Fantasma' isn't really a heel name that rolls off the tongue, the name change was justified but the choice was not. Using the surname of a drug lord exposed WWE's continued hypocrisy of things - who were adamant in removing Apollo Crews' surname when a killer was also named 'Crews', among their usual obsession with cutting names - but it was worsened by the choice of Santos, which means Saint. It also made it odd that his faction carried his old name but not him, what was wrong with Santos del Fantasma?
July 2020 Best - A New US Championship Design Aside from the 24/7 title, the US Championship design was one of WWE's weakest, fans had been calling for a change for quite some time. During Apollo's feud with the Hurt Business though we got a new US title unveiled by MVP; a slightly better design, it was definitely a good move in terms of booking and merchandising.
Worst - Asuka loses to Shenanigans, and then to Count Out Alas, Asuka's reign hit a bump in the road when the Bayley/Sasha connection set their sights on claiming all the gold. While this would do well for Bayley and Sasha's story, it was once again a story that came in Asuka's expense. She lost stupidly in Extreme Rules and when that was revoked she lost by count-out in a match where nothing was meant to influence the wrestlers on the outside. This was an added blow because Asuka was counted out to save Kairi from being attacked backstage - which effectively wrote her out of WWE, which meant that the attempted save was worthless.
Best - Big E goes his own way, but doesn't split from the New Day Before the WWE Draft split Xavier and Kofi from Big E brand-wise, injuries to Xavier and Kofi left Big E unable to compete for tag titles. However, fans had been hoping for another singles run from Big E and this was the platform for it. What made it good though was that Big E didn't leave the New Day to pursue a singles career, keeping the beloved faction still alive.
Worst - Bye, Kairi Kairi Sane carried a similar star aura that Io and Asuka before her did as the Mae Young Classic winner, former NXT Women's champion and basically being an all-round adorable human. When it was learned that she would be taking an ambassador role in Japan - where she would get married and spend time with her husband also - fans were upset to see her go. But WWE never gave her a proper sendoff, the last we see of Kairi is just her KO'd backstage with Asuka having given up her title to fail in saving her, and that left a bad taste.
Best - Keith Lee: Double Champion Keith Lee had captured NXT hearts with his physicality, athleticism and theme song, he was NA Champion and WWE had decided that double champions are all the rage now, so they pit Lee and Adam Cole against one another. It was a brief run, but the moment Lee held two belts became a big moment signifying a new chapter for NXT.
Worst - 'The Horror Show' Extreme Rules was kind of a low point for WWE. Rather than just continue with the no DQ gimmick they threw all their chips into the Braun vs Bray swamp fight, which tanked horribly. Also Rey vs Seth suffered from it with the daft Eye for an Eye stipulation - which AEW had previously done effectively - it was a great wrestling match marred by its goofy stipulation and thus its ending, all of which was made simply because Rey hadn't extended his contract at this time. Needless to say, overbooking and stupidity left 'The Horror Show' Extreme Rules a dud.
August 2020 Best - Introducing the Thunderdome There was some hesitations about the introduction of the Thunderdome, the fact that it's just screens some of it reused to pair with piped cheers and boos doesn't sound too good on paper. And granted, it has its flaws still, but at the same time the Thunderdome has been more positive on WWE's atmosphere than a purely empty arena has. The NXT cages are probably better paired with AEW's using their backstage staff as the crowd but you get what you give sometimes.
Worst - Retribution Retribution is a lost cause, even to this day. It tried the Nexus-esque debut with big names but shitty masks, as well as their purpose contradicting their actions. It all began here, and shouldn't have happened in the first place, Mercedes learned that one quickly. At least T-Bar has Twitter game.
Worst - Changing Keith Lee's attire, theme, and making him a side character to Drew vs Orton Within a month of winning both belts, Lee would be moved up to Raw where immediately he was pitted against Randy Orton - who was feuding against Drew McIntyre. With a new outfit and new music, Lee was a stepping stone to simply further Orton's feud with Drew rather than influence it, in a single moment WWE had made fans lose confidence that they could book Lee as well as he was in NXT, a worry that continues to this day even with another theme change.
Best - Damian Priest gets a shot A star who needed a chance to shine, Lee's vacating of the NA title left a slot open for someone to get a solid push and the winner was Damian Priest. Having proven himself there and in a prior feud with Finn Balor, Priest was a worthy candidate to hold the title and he still is able to hold that momentum in his main roster pursuits.
Worst - Raw Underground Doing something different is nothing to be afraid of, but sometimes you have to read the room. And Shane McMahon introducing a boiler room fight club was not it. Granted, Raw Underground didn't get the fairest crack of the whip, but it had also not distinguished itself on the card nor did it have as many decent stars to carry it. The repackaging of Babatunde to 'Dabba Kato' didn't sell any seriousness to it either.
Best - Pat McAfee Shines The Adam Cole/Pat McAfee feud did somewhat stumble at the start with WWE's insistence that this was a shoot, but the end result paid dividends. Pat McAfee raised a very low bar on celebrity contributions in wrestling matches, showing what celebrities who are actual fans could do to pull off an athletic and entertaining affair.
Worst - Mauro and Renee leave Mauro Ranallo may've been divisive for some fans in his enthusiastic commentary, but I loved the guy. He actually sold the energy of the matches and he knew the moves. Renee Young was also someone who proved to be a fantastic sports journalist, her commentary times on Raw marred by micromanaging she was a great host for Talking Smack and her podcast showed how relatable and fun Mrs. Moxley truly is. The departure of both had left a void WWE have struggled to fill again.
Best - Dominik Mysterio steps up In Summerslam 2005, the PPV was main evented by Shawn Michaels overselling Hulk Hogan for 20 minutes. The event saw not just titles go on the line but Kurt Angle's Olympic Medal...and the custody of a child. That child was mini-Slim Shady Dominik Mysterio, who in storyline had recently discovered that Eddie Guerrero is his biological father, adopted by Rey Mysterio and his wife. Fifteen years later, Dominik would step back into a Summerslam ring, this time to make his wrestling debut. While he would lose, Dominik gained a lot of positives especially given how he was up against Seth Rollins, Dominik's progression continues to impress as his father ensures that he gets the best training he can provide, the prince of the Mysterio household has a bright future ahead of him.
Worst - Murphy takes the fall in the Mysterio/Rollins Feud Alas, the Mysterio Family vs Monday Night Messiah would only have sporadic good moments and part of that is because Seth would escape mostly squeaky clean. The few times the Mysterio family would win was when it was a tag match with Murphy to take the fall. This wasn't just unfair on the Mysterios since they were being robbed again of 'winning' a feud which involved Seth ripping Rey's eye out but it also was a disservice to Murphy's talents as a former Ace of 205.
Best - Reigns FINALLY turns Heel, and is a Heyman Guy Roman Reigns was consistently booed for about 5 years, earning a reprieve when kayfabe was thrown away to support him in his bout with Leukemia. Given his dialysis, COVID left him as a risk for most of the year, but he made a huge return in the Universal title match between Braun and the Fiend. Debuting a heel persona which would align with Paul Heyman, WWE had finally done what the fans wanted - turn Roman heel. And Roman has been on top ever since, the Tribal Chief Reigns.
Worst - Splitting the IIconics In a bout of trying to raise stakes, WWE decided that the best way to service their women's tag division was for 2 popular teams to fight for contendership - but the losers would have to split up. Between the Riott Squad and the IIconics, the former would win the match - but continue to be underbooked to the point where their reunion after feuding with each other has become fruitless - which meant that one of the few established tag teams in the women's division were splitting...not too long since the Kabuki Warriors had split too. Despite half a year later Peyton delivering a killer promo and Billie showing some comedic flair, neither bounced back from the split - their only solace now is to reunite now that they too just now have been released...
Worst - Velveteen Dream comes back June proved to be a shocking time for wrestling in general when brave people publicly called out their experiences with sexual, emotional and physical harassment and abuse. This rattled all companies and blacklisted a ton of once renowned wrestlers such as David Starr, Jimmy Havoc, Jack Gallagher, Marty Scurll, Travis Banks, El Ligero, Joey Ryan and shut down all of Chikara pro wrestling. Velveteen Dream was among the names listed, accused of having inappropriate communications and grooming minors, this was of course a huge blow to the once-popular rising star. Like they did with Matt Riddle, Joe Coffey, Wolfgang, Jordan Devlin and Sid Scala, WWE decided to investigate rather than immediately release Dream. During this time, WWE should have kept Dream off TV for an extended period of time, instead he appeared a month later on NXT to qualify for the NA Title ladder match Priest would win under heavy scrutiny of the fans. As much as WWE point out that they had found nothing, many still remain unconvinced and while Dream is currently off tv now, having him return so soon did not inspire confidence.
September 2020 Best - Sami gets the IC Title Back After being unfairly stripped of the title back in May, Sami returned to claim himself the true IC champion. Pitted against AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy, the trio would embark on a smart and highly acclaimed ladder match for the title, which Sami would win. Course correction coming into play for Sami to resume his reign, but I still wonder why he was the heel in all of that...
Worst - Changing Aleister Black's Attire and Entrance Aleister Black had the IT Factor, he was a superb striker with a great gimmick of a dark and brooding warrior, rising like a vampire in his entrance with a demonic jacket, he oozed the aura of a main event player. Until Vince changed the music and decided that Black should wear an eyepatch...this of course was done after a span of barely booking Aleister anyway - despite him delivering in his matches - before not booking him at all.
Best - The Prince is Promised Finn Balor's return to NXT had been on a slow burn at this point, but with Karrion Kross having to vacate due to a separated shoulder a new NXT champion had to be crowned. After a 4-way iron man tie, Balor came on top on Super Tuesday Part 2. Finn being champion again was indeed the right choice, while it delays his collision with WALTER indefinitely he has had a superb reign filling in for Karrion Kross, who would reclaim in a good match at Stand & Deliver.
Worst - Telenovela Bullshit The Mysterios/Messiah storyline tangented in a bad way in its ending stages before fizzling out. Aalyah Mysterio had been booked into a romance with Murphy, the acting was like a soap opera and not in the good way. 'But mother, I love him' literally being the weekly storyline of coaxing Murphy away from Seth, all of which became dropped to mean nothing for anyone.
Best - Kyle O'Reilly and Jey Uso enter the Main Event Primarily tag wrestlers for their WWE careers, Kyle O'Reilly and Jey Uso were given unexpected chances at the world champions Balor and Reigns on NXT and Smackdown, and boy did they take those chances. Both men impressed hugely in their matches, enough to get multiple rematches and a bigger role in the main event from it, Jey would join Roman as a heel and support to the Tribal Chief while O'Reilly would come to blows with Adam Cole in an unsanctioned match. Both men can be seen as world champions now.
October 2020 Best - NXT UK Acquisitions NXT UK hasn't really gained the desired momentum, which is a shame because there are a lot of great talent still there, and they sport one of the best looking active belts in Wrestling today. The problem is the limited audience and minimal roster depth, which is why it was refreshing when WWE signed more to the brand, the big name of Meiko Satomura being the headliner but also Rampage Brown and the steal of Ben Carter - now Nathan Frazer - from under AEW's nose. Later they would push A-Kid and sign the former Lucky Kid and Millie McKenzie to further bolster its brand.
Worst - Not Repackaging Retribution On October 5th, WWE decided to turn Mustafa Ali heel and put him as the leader of Retribution, but they would also pit them against the Hurt Business - a heel faction - and reveal himself the 'Smackdown Hacker' - who had unveiled some heels doing heelish deeds. Confusing at the best of times, Retribution never got past losing either, forcing Mia Yim to do tantrums in the ring on a mini-push that came to nothing and elevating nobody. Retribution had chances to save itself, but WWE didn't take those chances.
Best - Sasha wins big! At last, Sasha wins a big title match clean in a storyline payoff against Bayley. Both women at the top of their game, they earned the Hell in a Cell spot and began a title reign that would go longer than any of Sasha's other main title reigns. The Boss was finally standing on top as the main roster finally did Sasha vs Bayley right.
Worst - Orton wins big... Randy Orton had been feuding with Drew since beating Edge at Backlash, losing on consecutive title matches until Hell in a Cell, where he won despite the slow burn hints at a Fiend feud. While Randy was at the top of is heel game and Drew didn't have to hold the title all year, the multiple past attempts deflated this story as well as scrutinizing WWE constantly saying 'no rematch clauses' and 'you can't just walk in and demand a title match' but then doing the absolute same thing. Orton's title run wouldn't last either, which makes it all the more meh.
Worst - The Draft The Draft is meant to lead to surprising new dynamics and storyline changes, but 2020's Draft was a misfire. For one, there was no competition for it, Raw got 3 just because it ran longer and a percentage of the draft picks were wrestlers staying on the brand they were already on, making the shock factor limited. The Mysterios followed Rollins to Smackdown to continue their drab storyline, the tag champions swapped belts to remain colour coded and for some reason some tag teams were treated as individual and some not.
November 2020 Best - Undertaker's Retirement Ceremony After 2 previous 'retirements', the Undertaker finally hung up his boots for real this time, ending it where it began: Survivor Series. It was a very tasteful affair with nods to the card he debuted on such as the Gobbeldy Gooker and Brother Love, it was a good time and a good sendoff for one of WWE's greatest characters.
Worst - Survivor Series books it wrong While there was many good matches in Survivor Series, it did suffer from the usual booking mentality of 'Raw Superiority'. Lana became a sole survivor by default of count outs and DQs in a team including Shayna and Asuka, the Smackdown men were completely squashed despite having a strong team and Baron Corbin and finally, no NXT. There was the potential for adding Balor, Io, Priest and Imperium to these matches and that just could've elevated it, the last was more understandable though given COVID.
Worst - Not booking 3 Future Stars Andrade, Aleister and Murphy. All three had shone before reaching the main roster be it for NXT on the former two and 205 Live on the latter. But on the Main Roster their luck was a mixed bag; Murphy had recently beat Rollins clean, but after the Mysterios were about to come down with COVID themselves WWE didn't push anything with him, Andrade was a former US Champion in a faction that all fell apart within the year and Black was a shitkicker who WWE were methodically gutting. All three would soon see themselves not on tv at all, and for two they had an alarming connection.
Worst - Zelina gets fired Zelina Vega was the one who elevated Andrade to a face midcarder to a heel main eventer on NXT, she was also coming along well as a wrestler with some decent bouts with Asuka. But when WWE enacted a policy that their wrestlers couldn't profit from third party stuff like twitch, when Zelina resisted and found loopholes she found herself getting released soon after, Andrade and her irl husband Aleister Black now ominously missing from WWE, it was for the most part pettiness on WWE's behalf to forbid their talent from making money elsewhere by being themselves.
December 2020 Best - Big E wins the Big IC Without his New Day buddies, Big E could continue his singles run despite daft claims from Corey that as a decorated tag champion Big E couldn't do singles wrestling like he did when he was NXT Champion and IC Champion. But on the Christmas Smackdown taping, Big E would win the IC championship to a big babyface moment, which he would carry into Wrestlemania.
Worst - Gargano wins the NA Title (again) I have nothing against Johnny Gargano, but it is odd that he was the one to usurp Damian Priest and then Leon Ruff. To this day he still holds that title despite Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed, LA Knight, KUSHIDA (who recently just won the Cruiserweight title) and Cameron Grimes all looking like worthy competitors to get a push. It's a strange place where Gargano builds a faction with gold but it doesn't elevate anyone around his waist.
Worst - Charlotte returns just to add another title to her list WWE's obsession with mismatched teams is matched only by their obsession with pitting a champion and no.1 contender against tag champions, both of which are overdone. So when TLC came along with Asuka having a mystery partner to face Shayna and Nia, it didn't quite land that her partner was Charlotte and they went on to win the titles...only to drop it in about a month as they teased a title match between the two. It showed the low pecking order the tag titles had, the lowered stock of Shayna and how the title change was merely to say that Charlotte had won every title in WWE (at that time).
Worst - Miz fails his Cash-In, but gets the Briefcase back The Men's MITB was horribly booked all year and time was running out, WWE had to decide whether they would have to book a failed cash in - and put the Miz in the same list as Sandow and Corbin in those who lost their cash-in (Cena and Braun if we include those who didn't capture gold), making Miz champion or hot potatoing again. At the end of TLC it looked like they picked the latter, which would've tied things up in a bow. But the following Raw, the Miz got his briefcase back because Morrison had cashed it in for him, meaning the saga was forced to continue.
January 2021 Best - Xia Li finally gets a repackage Xia Li has been on the NXT Roster for a long time, like Vanessa Borne and Aaliyah long time, but the best NXT could give her for a long time was 'Chinese Undercarder'. 2021 however made a shift, by turning Li heel with a storyline of her and Boa answering to a mystic overlord, Li turned into a brutish kickass killer, squashes building to her dispatching her former friends. While she still sits low on the card, it's promising stuff that can easily be pushed towards the main title scene, and frankly Xia Li has done her time to earn such a push.
Worst - Goldberg challenges Drew 'for disrespecting legends' The whole Goldberg fiasco was once again a rush job that served nobody except old Bill. Still soured by the fact that he cleanly defeated the Fiend and also had a horror match with Taker, nobody was quite amped to see Drew vs Goldberg at Royal Rumble. His reasoning for feuding with Drew was also confusing since he was claiming that Drew had disrespected the legends on Legends Night when he had been fully supportive and respectful towards them. Mercifully, the feud did not go Goldberg's way.
Best - The Women's Dusty Classic is Announced The Dusty Rhodes classic has in NXT become a platform for tag teams and mismatch alliances to flourish and open into newer storylines, and also to sometimes set up War Games, and with the vast depth of the NXT Women's Locker Room it was the right call for WWE to make a women's variation. The tournament allowed Candice, Dakota, Raquel, Ember and Shotzi to get tv time outside of a world title shot and so their talents weren't entirely wasted.
Worst - Sonya Returns, but as a GM Assistant When Sonya Deville took some time off post-Summerslam, she had proven herself to be skilled on the mic and in the ring. But on Jan 1st's Smackdown Sonya would be spotted and later it was officially announced that Sonya was back on Smackdown, but as Adam Pearce's assistant. Aside from some backstage talks and Street Profits trying to bribe her for a title match, Sonya hasn't seen much TV time - which is a poor utilization of her skills. The position is fine to an extent, but Sonya should be using her position to further her in-ring prospects too, take a leaf from AJ Lee's book.
Best - Edge returns at the Rumble While I was never unhappy with Edge winning the rumble I wouldn't say it was the best booking choice out of the roster. If anything though, Edge returning from Injury at Number 1 was a definite crowd-pleaser, and pitting him against Orton to resume their hostilities set the tone for the Men's Royal Rumble.
Worst - Corbin beats the Mysterios Clean on Consecutive Weeks I don't know what the purpose of this was. After returning from COVID, the Mysterios were put against King Corbin in weekly matches, Rey lost to Corbin clean, Dom lost to Corbin clean, there weren't any interferences or weapons, and there wasn't really a plot to this. Only when Dom beat Corbin thanks to Rey's help did the feud 'end', but it didn't really do anything for them, in the end, Dom cheats to win and not in an Eddie Guerrero way. It was just weird.
Best - The Women's Royal Rumble The Women's Royal Rumble in 2021 was a masterpiece, nearly every woman in that match got some shine and a bit of story. There was depth, context and clarity in the bout and the exciting prospect of the final two being Bianca and Rhea - two NXT prospects who would both later grasp gold. The ending segment solidified a perfectly-booked bout that would set a standard the men couldn't outshine that night.
Worst - The Universal Title Last Man Standing botch Handcuffed on the scaffolding, Roman Reigns looked certain to lose his Last Man Standing match against Kevin Owens as Heyman frantically tried to uncuff him. Of course, this was a botch at the worst of times but instead of attempting to ad-lib something, the Ref just restarted his count after reaching 6. It was a daft choice that killed the sails of the match, they should've either attacked the ref or let Owens - who had lost to Reigns several times already - hold the title for a month or so before dropping back to Roman.
February 2021 Best - MSK win the Classic On Impact the Rascalz were a beloved faction, and when two thirds of them jumped ship to NXT as MSK, fans were eager to see if WWE would go all the way with them, or if they would let the UK uberheel team of Grizzled Young Veterans take the spot. Fortunately they went for the former, which was a big boost for the future tag champions - only slightly delayed by injuries to both MSK and the then-champions Burch and Lorcan.
Worst - Top Tier Bad Booking on all 3 Shows Despite Smackdown and NXT regularly dwarfing Raw in quality, each show had begun a less than stellar narrative to build some feuds among their favoured wrestlers. On NXT, Gargano's faction The Way were having a Dexter Lumis problem - and although Lumis had won a non-title match against the NA Champion he did not get a title shot - one which had its bright parts but was often found goofy especially with the Indi Hartwell romance stuff. Smackdown merely had to keep it simple with Bianca and Sasha, but instead, they decided to go through the 'can they work together' route with Shayna and Nia, again shoddy booking threatened to dampen a Women's Wrestlemania Main Event. But Raw of course had the worst of it, Charlotte would be a babyface feuding with Lacey Evans, who was fucking her father...fans were already aware that Lacey has a husband and child which WWE had acknowledged before, and the feud only ended because Lacey was legitimately pregnant - which they storyline'd to be Ric's too - sparing Asuka of the same fate. It just wasn't a good time.
Best - Cameron Grimes STONKS The Gamestop Reddit Stocks moment came out of nowhere and made people a lot of money, WWE decided that Cameron Grimes would be one of those people. Already exuding charismatic energy and a decent catchphrase, making Grimes rich somehow elevated his character further as a hilariously snobby whackjob. Here's hoping he gets a solid crack at it as he cites DiBiase, maybe like he did Grimes can pay his way to the top.
Worst - Sheamus sucks at history Sheamus turning on Drew was an inevitability, and their matches were strong and entertaining affairs. But WWE really didn't try too hard to think of a reason for Sheamus to turn on Drew, citing his reasoning to be that Sheamus had lived in Drew's shadow. I mean really? We're talking about the same Sheamus who has won every men's accolade in WWE bar the IC title while Drew was doing air guitar with Heath, Jinder and Hornswoggle in the undercard? You have to make things make sense for people to buy into it.
Worst - Miz gets to be King for a Week Following on from Miz's failed cash-in was Miz's successful cash-in after Elimination Chamber - an action he succeeded in thanks to Lashley assaulting Drew post-match. While Miz being world champion again was anticipated for a long time, the timing was not right at all and fans were more or less relieved to see that Lashley would be taking the title from him within the next week. It was mostly a bit of clean up after realising that they don't want to use the MITB in the build to Wrestlemania, afterwards Miz went from WWE Champion to feuding with a rapper - also spare a thought for Morrison who doesn't really get to do anything outside of being the Miz's buddy.
March 2021 Best - Lashley wins the WWE Championship Speaking of Miz's short-lived reign, the one saving grace from it was that Lashley would claim it soon after, looking like a monster in the process. An overdue run for the man who was slowly looking like he was about to fade out of the company the same way that several others had and later would got his position to be WWE Champion, long may he reign.
Worst - La Sombra de El Idolo Andrade remains one of the most talented wrestlers of his generation, he had several paths in WWE that could have moved him to the top of the card, several feuds that people were amped for. And none of it came to be, because Andrade was granted release on his second attempt. Where Andrade El Idolo will appear next remains up for discussion, the likely route being AEW or reconvening with his old Ingobernables, but wherever he lands it'll be on his feet.
Worst - Shane returns just in time for Wrestlemania Season Shane McMahon is the boss' son, with a masochistic urge to be thrown off of things. But he doesn't seem to realise that every time he's on the card someone more deserving is not, not even with a posse as he tries to renew his 3 Minute Warning days. This time around Shane beleaguered WWE's card with a feud against Braun Strowman circulating around Shane calling him stupid and pouring green goo on him...who asked for this?
Worst - Apollo changes his accent Speaking of 'who asked for this?', Apollo's heel turn in embracing his Nigerian heritage was fine, a new edge for the otherwise smiley naive face character. But then Apollo decided to put on an accent, even though he's spent years without it. It was just unnecessary, a stamp that was to say 'I am foreign, boo my foreignness' that certainly has no room in today's wrestling. What's the odds that within a year Apollo's Nigerian Royalty gimmick will be warped into a Nigerian Prince scammer gimmick?
Worst - Women's Tag Fuckery Upon winning the women's Dusty Classic, Raquel and Dakota got a Women's Tag Opportunity against boringly longstanding champions Shayna & Nia, however rather than just pull the trigger and give the titles to them, WWE opted for a cheat finish which had Adam Pearce turn heel for the day just to screw over NXT. This was all a convoluted plan to create NXT Women's Tag Championships, which were awarded to Raquel and Dakota...before immediately losing it to Ember and Shotzi. Just what you want when establishing a new title huh? Quickfire title changes! It was all just very roundabout, should've simply announced the titles for the Women's Dusty Classic prize or given the Women's Tag to a team that could actually use it.
April 2021 Best - Edge and Roman add a bit of YES Alone Edge vs Reigns was still a highly anticipated Universal title bout. But the addition of Daniel Bryan brought in several new layers and conflicts for all characters. Each of them (like Balor vs Kross would) were presented as warriors who were forced medically to vacate the top prize only to come back stronger, each of them main evented Wrestlemania, and each of them were some of the best wrestlers in the world. The triple threat also meant that No DQ stipulations could be opened up, allowing Edge to show more of his heelish and psychotic side, as well as Bryan and Roman's viciousness. All three sold that they wanted that title and it made it stand out.
Worst - That Hurts our Business The Hurt Business was looking to become another success story in modern WWE factions. Masterminded by a resurgent MVP and helmed by now WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, Business was indeed booming. Until the final few weeks of Wrestlemania decided to cast aside Shelton and Cedric - the latter they strived to convince in joining them within the past year - and effectively dissolve the group. The loss of the Hurt Business led to high criticism, especially since Cedric and Shelton fell hard into the undercard only to see King Corbin cross brands to do Lashley's dirty work, it just wasn't a good thing and the possibility of replacing those spots with Mace and T-Bar does not quite fill the void.
Best - Cesaro gets his Push Cesaro had often been haunted by the dangling of the 'brass ring' over his head. Despite a frequent tag champion and also a US champion, WWE shied away from his strong and dedicated fanbase that desired more for the Swiss Superman/Cyborg. In the build to Elimination Chamber, fans were intrigued by Cesaro's clean wins over such names as Daniel Bryan, but were not surprised when he didn't come out on top in the chamber itself. In the aftermath though, Cesaro began a feud with Seth Rollins, someone who could boast an impressive Wrestlemania W/L record, compared to Cesaro - whose only Wrestlemania singles match was last year's Pre-Show. The match was put on Night 1 and was a lovely affair with a clear story, most importantly though Cesaro came out on top with a huge rub and like that, the Cesaro section gets to believe again.
Worst - Fiend Falls to One RKO After spending the last year re-mystifying the Fiend by having him survive all manner of things including drowning and being set on fire, the return of the Fiend to open Night 2 of Wrestlemania left a sour taste in fans' mouths. After 8 minutes of no-selling Orton's offense, Alexa Bliss reappeared with black goo over her face to distract the Fiend, he was hit with an RKO and pinned for 3. The bafflement was high as fans wondered what exactly the intention was for having the Fiend lose on his return, and why it took only one RKO to finish it when so much worse things have struggled to keep him down.
Best - NXT Stands and Delivers before Mania In what was a long and entertaining week of wrestling, NXT said goodbye to Wednesday Nights in style with their Wrestlemania-esque 2-Day Takeover. The shows were good sporting some fun matches, including an entertaining CW unification ladder match and Io passing the torch to Raquel, though NXT weren't invited to Survivor Series or Mania this time, they still put on a great show before moving to Tuesdays.
Worst - Riotts, SD Tag Champions slighted The Riott Squad currently stand as one of WWE's last surviving genuine tag teams, everyone else being singles wrestlers thrown together to avoid Main Event or Superstars. However, they also stand as a team who after multiple attempts are still not tag champions. After carrying the bulk of their Night 1 Tag Team Turmoil, the Riott Squad were unfortunately left to be felled by Natalya and Tamina - who would lose on Night 2 rendering this pointless anyway - and I have to ask, is it ever going to happen? The Riott Squad are not the only tag team hard done by at Wrestlemania, as the Smackdown Tag Championship did not even make it on the card! A fatal 4-Way between the Dirty Dawgs, Street Profits, Alpha Academy and Mysterios could've brought some infectious energy into Night 2 given the amount of talent in those four teams, but instead it got put on a 'Wrestlemania special Smackdown' while Shane vs Braun ended up on the main card. Priorities were not straight there and WWE robbed Dominik Mysterio of a Wrestlemania debut, their only contribution being a video recap and a Dirty Dawgs interview on Night 1 to prelude the Raw Tag Championship match.
Best - Wrestlemania dished out the goods, and the fans In spite of some questionable booking in the early stages, we end the list on a high. Wrestlemania didn't have the best build or go-home show, but it certainly delivered on a blend of storytelling and wrestling, big title changes for Bianca and Rhea and solid matches for the majority of the card meant that WWE ended on a high. Most importantly too, it was in front of a crowd, the ambiance very much missed on the Grandest Stage of them All.
I would rant about April 15th 2021 but I said it's from Mania 36 to 37 so yeah, footnote fuck April 15th. In the end though WWE had its ups and downs, but hopefully they will learn from some of their mistakes and come back stronger

Neon lights
Scene: Deserted gas station at 2am (Nasty x reader)
Requested by: @thespacecowboyyy
AN: hah this turned out weird and pretty shitty lol ~
- Fucking shit motherfucker…
I was pulled from my thoughts by the driver’s harsh words. I was dozing off at the front seat of the bus after staring at the empty road for what must have been hours. It calmed me down after a busy day like today, and even if I wanted to sleep there was no chance: Razzle’s snoring kept me awake once again.
- What is it? I muttered, straightening up in my seat. My back cracked as I reached my hands overhead to stretch. This tour life and mostly the endless sitting in a bus was starting to get the best of me.
- We’re almost out of gas.
Great. Just splendid. Nothing but empty road for miles. I wanted to strangle the man for not filling the tank before we started the overnight drive to the next city, but what good would it do? I glanced the clock on the dashboard – almost 2 am.
We drove in silence. The driver hummed quietly, he had turned off the radio so the guys could get some sleep. The show’s afterparty had been cut short as we needed to get to the next city by noon. To be honest I was glad we got out of there that fast, I was happy to be somewhere quiet with just the band, the crew and the driver. When the guys had asked me to come along to the tour as the merch seller I didn’t know what kind of circus I was getting myself into. Of course I knew they partied hard, I’d been their friend for years, but this was something else. They were like little kids on a field trip across America. Far away from home and carefree. I was glad they trusted me this much, but more often than not I ended up being their babysitter. I was starting to think that was another reason for them to ask me to come.
The band was asleep, each and every one. They smelled like booze, weed and perfume, they were snoring and talking in their sleep, they definitely were like little kids. The sight warmed my heart. Above all, I felt privileged to be here with them. They were batshit crazy but also the most lovable, friendly people ever. If they accepted you as a part of their gang they loved and protected you with all their might. Michael had been giving me some singing lessons and Sami was always telling me the little tidbits of did-you-know-information he’d read somewhere. Andy with his stories and nobody knew if they were true or not. Razzle being the die-hard prankster always trying to make me laugh. And Nasty… Nasty trying to teach me how to play guitar. Nasty always offering a swing from his beer, Nasty sneaking his way close to me just to start a nonchalant conversation that usually led to us talking all night.
But there was something about Nasty that I quite couldn’t put my finger on. He was both quiet and outgoing at the same time and even after all these years I’d known him I didn’t quite get the man. And being on tour just made the contrast higher. Lately he’d become more quiet around me as if he was trying to avoid me. We no longer had the deep, hours-long conversations we used to have and it hurt. He was after all the first one I became friends with. Every time he turned his back to me stung like hell. I missed him, there was a strange ache in my chest when he wasn’t around.
Suddenly there were lights on the roadside. As we got closer we realized that it was a gas station in all it’s glory. But as we got next to it and the bus slowed down to a stop it became pretty clear it wasn’t up for business. There were no lights inside the shop, just the lonely glow of green and yellow neon signs stating that there at least had been gas for sale. It was eerie to say the least.
- Why are we stopping? Nasty’s tired voice spoke behind me.
Speak of the devil.
- We’re running out of gas, I answered blatantly. The darkness outside was all-consuming and as the driver killed the engine it got perfectly quiet. All we could see was the road as far as the headlights lit it and the dim, greenish glow of old neon lights from the station. Nasty yawned and leaned his elbow on the back of my seat.
- That’s definitely deserted. No way there’s anyone out here, I stated as I observed the scene. A couple of cars drove past, then quiet again. Just Razzle’s snoring and Sami’s sleepy mumbling filled the air.
- It wont hurt to go and check, just to be sure, Nasty mused.
- Nasse look at it! It’s empty! I was tired and frustrated.
- We’re seriously not gonna get far with what we have left, so I think we really need to check, the driver said quietly with an apologetic hint in his voice. Damn right he should be sorry.
- You two go, I’ll stay here and try to stop a car if one comes by.
I shot the man a questioning look. He gotta be kidding me. Irritation was building up inside me by the minute. What a train wreck.
- Go on, we don’t have all night.
Nasty flashed me a grin as I groaned. It probably was cold outside, it sure was dark, and god knows what kind of predators the bushes hid. Coyotes and mountain lions, weren’t those the creatures around here?
Nasty opened the door and poked his head outside. A cold wind blew his hair around and made goosebumps rise to my skin. A fleeting thought to get something to protect us, like maybe a baseball bat, ran through my head but before I could say anything Nasty was already outside. I followed him suit. The distances seemed a lot longer out here in the dark and it didn’t take many steps to be out of the reach of the bus’s lights. No way I was going to let Nasty get far away. Determinedly he walked over to the gas pumps and took one in his hand. Just like I expected, no gas came out no matter how he held it or how hard he pulled the handle. He even kicked the machine and cursed under his breath. I just stood there watching because I knew it was no use. After poking the buttons a while and trying another pump he gave up.
- Doesn’t seem to work, he muttered. I kept all ”I told you so”s to myself. We stood there quietly. It really was cold, I hugged myself to keep warmer. Nasty seemed deep in thought. There was no sound anywhere, not a single car in sight, just the wind blowing in the bushes behind the station.
- We should check the the store just to be sure. Who knows, maybe there’s something useful inside, Nasty spoke more to himself than to me.
- Why do you think the door’s open?
- Well maybe not the front door but let’s try the back door! He looked at me with mischief in his eyes. Things were getting illegal fast there was no doubt about that.
- You gotta be kidding me.
- Oh come on, let’s have some fun while were here!
I rolled my eyes. There was no way stopping him, so I just followed him across the station. Just as I reached him a strong gust of freezing wind blew across the concrete yard. I visibly shivered.
- Here, wanna take my jacket? He offered and before I could say anything he took it off and handed to me.
- Aren’t you cold? I tried not to let my eyes linger on his bare arms for too long as I pulled the garment on. It smelled like Nasty and it made me feel strangely better. Like I was safe.
- Nah, I still have alcohol in my system.
Well of course. We walked around the corner to the other side of the building. The glow from the neon lights dimmed and it got almost dark before we got to the back door. It was lit by a single flickering light bulb that cast ominous shadows everywhere. Nasty tried the door but it was locked.
- I told ya, of course it’s not open.
Nasty tried to yank the door again just to be sure. He looked otherworldly under the bright light as he turned towards me.
- Like that has stopped me before…
- You’re not seriously going to break in are you?
- I sure am. Let’s just check if there’s anything useful! Besides, you said it yourself: it’s probably deserted. Come on, don’t be such a pussy.
I just huffed in response. Fine, if he wanted to go in to the deserted gas station that was likely haunted and/or had a murderous coyote living in it he could go by himself. I’d just wait right here.
It didn’t take long for him to get the door open with a bobby pin he had in his pocket. As much as I knew not to be surprised by anything at this point it still took me by surprise.
- Where the hell did you learn that?
- Try living on the streets for a while… he just grinned at me and sneaked inside. He disappeared into the darkness and I was all alone in the cold. I stared at the door, snuggled deeper into the Nasty-smelling jacket and listened to his footsteps echoing from inside. The quiet would’ve been soothing if only it had been completely quiet. But of course not, there just had to be something rustling in the bushes right outside the light’s reach. I changed my mind about waiting outside pretty damn fast.
At first it was impossible to see. I fumbled my way out of the small backroom into the store. The neon lights outside cast a beautiful light inside. It was plenty to see as soon as my eyes got used to the dark. Nasty was rummaging through the shelves just a few meters away, humming to himself. My heart was pounding loud and fast in my ears. I had never done anything like this before. To break into a gas station? I must be out of my mind. Nasty on the other hand didn’t seem to mind at all.
- Oh you came! I already checked the cashier – nothing there. And you were right, this place is empty. All that’s left is some canned stuff from almost ten years ago. Funny how this place hasn’t been robbed before, he kept talking and almost waltzing between the shelves.
I stood there for a moment. Every little sound made me jump so I tried to move as close to Nasty as possible. I admired the light filtering through the window, making everything seem like time couldn’t touch it. Nasty’s carefree figure danced against the light. He seemed like he belonged here, in this timeless spot, with the green painting unfamiliar shadows on his face.
It would’ve been almost romantic if I hadn’t been so scared. I took a step closer to Nasty just so that if the murderous coyote snapped onto my leg and tried to drag me into it’s den, I’d drag him with me. Suddenly he turned around right in front of me.
- Romantic huh? he grinned at me. Bloody hell was he a psychic, reading my thoughts like that? He just stood there, the grin on his face melting away. Slowly he reached for my hand. I just stared at him with my eyes wide. No coherent words were forming in my mind. The light seemed to be whispering something into my ear but I couldn’t make out the words, just a buzz.
I think Nasty heard the same alluring buzz because he moved closer. And closer and closer until all I could see was his eyes staring at me behind his hair and his lips way too close to mine. A strained sound that didn’t even sound like it came from me escaped my throat. It brought me back to reality just enough.
- Nasse what are you doing? I finally got out of my mouth. It came out more sharply than I intended. He looked startled. He leaned back and melted into the most heart-breaking puppy dog eyes I had ever seen. I wanted to say I’m sorry but he spoke first.
- It’s just that… I like you a lot. And I thought you liked me too. He turned his face downward in defeat and let got of my hand.
- Nasty I do like you, but…
- But not like that right?
- No, no I just, I just thought you suddenly hated me or something, always sneaking away from me and everything.
- I was just confused by what I was feeling. We’ve been friends for so long and I didn’t want to ruin it.
I took his hands into mine. I felt soft inside. This little moment in this timeless space made everything so much clearer, so much more simple.
- You can’t ruin this no matter what, I whispered.
He leaned closer and this time I didn’t try to back away. My heart was pounding in my ears so loud as he leaned towards, I closed my eyes and felt my heart skip multiple beats as the seconds seemed to last forever before….
TOOOOOT!
The sound of the bus horn startled us both. I jumped and hit my forehead to Nasty’s.
- Fuck!
- Come back here! the voice of the busdriver ran through the air just loud enough to hear. Nasty burst out laughing.
- We better get back.
- But… I was confused and a little hurt. Of course the moment had to be ruined.
- But what? Come on, let’s go!
He was like nothing happened. He avoided my eyes. His voice was stern and his movements sharp as he took a few items from the shelves and walked towards the door. He didn’t look at me, he didn’t say anything, he didn’t even hold the door for me. I felt hollow.
Nasty almost ran back to the bus. I tried to keep up with him but gave up and just watched as he hurried under the neon lights. They painted his hair with a green glow and made his skin look even paler than usual. The darkness around felt like it was creeping in on me. I pulled the jacket tighter around me. It smelled like home.

JoJo Rabbit won for adapted screenplay. Little Women won for Little Women and Toy Story 4 for animated film. Laura Dern won best supporting actress. Renee Zellweger and Joaquin Phoenix too home the top actor prizes. Parasite surprised everybody and won best pic and got Bong Joon Ho a best director statue. My best dressed were Billy Porter, Antonio Banderes and his date, Janelle Monae ( her opening seemed to make some in the audience uncomfortable), Robert DeNiro, Laura Dern, Diane Ladd, Geena Davis, Regina King, Charlize Theron, Adam Driver, Joanne Tucker, Cynthia Erivo, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kathy Bates, I don’t know what Kristen Wiig and Idina Menzel were thinking. Wiig always has a unique style so I have to admire that. ** The ratings were down. I have heard people saying they just don’t watch award shows or late night shows anymore because they are afraid things will get political. Funny, that is part of the reason I watch!

Van Jones was right when he said we shouldn’t give Trump any press coverage for a week. He would hate it. Trump loves the old adage of bad publicity is better than none because he just must have attention. It would never work for they just can’t resist.** Joe Mcguire is out after he warned of Russian interference. If you want to keep your job in this administration, do not tell the truth. Now at the Department of National Intelligence is Johnny Mcentee , a 29 year old former football player who worked on the campaign. He immediately called department heads and said he wanted lists of never Trumpers in their offices. ** And who is in charge of weeding out the people in the government who may be disloyal to Scary Clown? Well, it is none other than Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court justice Clarence. She calls it the list of snakes. Trump is now saying he even wants liberal judges on the Supreme Court to recuse themselves when it comes to “Trump related cases”. It just keeps getting worse.

Andrew Yang is a new correspondent at CNN. He tells us that he is getting word from former donors that Bloomberg is calling those big donors. Allegedly he is telling them they do not have to donate to his campaign because he can afford his own campaign but he still won’t forget them. He would like them to save their money and not give money to other democrats running either.** And I am so sick of talking heads trying to tell us to play it safe. We are not as stupid as we look, thank you!! ** Now there is a firestorm about Bernie telling the world that the education program that Castro implemented was a good thing. I understand the anger and it could not have come at a worse time and he did it to himself. BUT..  We are adults and we have to be able to talk about things as they really are, not in sound bites. Castro sucked and history teaches us that bad people do good things occasionally and good people do bad things once in a while. ** It seems that everyone was in agreement that we would all gather behind the winner of the democratic campaign to beat Trump. Suddenly when it could be Bernie, everybody is bitching.
*****
This month held 2 more Democratic debates. The Nevada debate got pretty heated. I see that Mayor Pete and Bloomberg are lefties (left handed that is). Pete always looked poised and articulate which I appreciate and he got in a good one when he mentioned that the party should choose someone who is actually a democrat.  Bernie seemed a little rattled by that. Later Pete really dressed down Amy Klobuchar and made himself look like a dick. Joe Biden jumped in with his credits occasionally but often seemed a bit lost. He slammed back that they were all talking about the health care plane he helped to create and that he himself had dealt with the Mexican President. His name came up after it was mentioned that Amy could not remember the President’s name. The gloves were off with Bloomberg as Elizabeth Warren called him out on Billionaires and NDA’s. I loved the interaction but realistically Mr. Mike can’t just release people from agreements they made in an NDA, especially if it did not involve him. Bloomberg sounded pompous and clueless about the world outside of his company. He got a moan when he said he couldn’t exactly use turbo tax and when he said he may have told a few jokes that women didn’t like. He brushed off his taxes much like Trump does. The former mayor of NY called out socialists as communists. Klobuchar had the best comeback of the night when she was told her health care plan could fit on a post it. She proclaimed that the post it was invented in her state of Minnesota. Again, there were people shouting from the audience as Joe tried to talk. C’mon give everybody an equal chance.
*****
The South Carolina debate was fiery as well. The CBS debate was hosted by Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell. Bloomberg was booed right off the bat about Russia helping Bernie but he late had many cheers. He and Biden and Steyer had some real support there. Tom Steyer was actually quite impressive and seemed well spoken.  He was the only one who brought up the impeachment. He had a great point that we all know that republicans who did not convict Trump are complicit in the Russian meddling. Then he ruined it all by being alarmist with his fear. He warned us off the former republican and the socialists. I loved Bernie’s ideas about small business’s getting in on the marijuana business and not letting big corporations taking it over. He is also the only one in debates that I have seen consistently bring up Native Americans.  Biden again kept jumping in to tell us that he did this or that. Amy disagreed about a bill he claimed to have written. Warren said “dig in” numerous times. She went for the jugular with Bloomberg when she said a former female employee of his said to “kill it” in response to her pregnancy. He denied it but it sure is memorable. She did make great points that he has given much money to Linsey Graham’s campaign as well as other republican runs including against her. BTW he also gave 2.3 mil to Rick Snyder, the Gov of Michigan after the water crisis was well known.  I love that Amy is always saying that we shouldn’t fight amongst ourselves but she just does not have the votes so she needs to go. Bernie got some boos about guns for he seems the softest in that area.

Heyho~ Could you tell me your thoughts about the dynamic between Vexen, Zexion and Lexaeus? Even though they were turned into Nobodys they still remained close I guess. Especially Lexaeus wanted to protect Zexion.
I’m not going to do this as headcanons because I don’t think that’s what you wanted, but I’m going to do it as a little discussion on my thoughts - and the thoughts of Sami. we actually had a pretty decent discussion about it on discord.
Okay, so the relationships between Vexen and Zexion, and Lexaeus and Zexion are two of my favorite relationships in the game.  It’s interesting how most of the relationship is established through non-canon fandom headcanons, yet it still manages to be such a great relationship.
I think we can all agree that the relationship they have with Zexion started with Ienzo.  Little baby Ienzo who lost his parents for unknown reasons and was thrust into an apprenticeship with Ansem the Wise.  He was too smart for his own good.  After all, the Journal Entry in BBS states that he is, “a young boy who speaks little - but his serene gaze suggests he sees much.  Even and the others at the castle are raising him since he has lost his parents.”  Both Lexaeus and Vexen – and even Xaldin, in a way – are suddenly around this quiet, lost little boy and I suppose they felt responsible for him? At least, I’m sure it started like that, in an attempt to help Ansem the Wise a bit since I’m sure he was too busy to keep an eye on little Ienzo 24/7.
At this point, when Aeleus and Even start to take care of and look out for Ienzo, I begin to think about them as two separate groups – as in Aeleus and Ienzo versus Even and Ienzo – so that’s how I’ll talk about them from here on out.
I’ll start off by saying that Lexaeus and Zexion are my two favorite organization members so I’m definitely a bit biased. From what I recall, there are more Even/Ienzo interactions than Aeleus/Ienzo, but one that stuck out to me is from KH3 *spoiler alert* when Ienzo is talking to Sora on the Gummiphone and Aeleus happens to walk behind him.  You can find the scene here, at about 2:10. Ienzo says: “Aeleus, whatever is between you and Roxas, it’s in the past.” Aeleus ignores him and walks away as Ienzo sighs.  This simple interaction tells us a lot – because I apparently look way too much into things.  Aeleus isn’t a guy who shows his emotions, but this shows that Ienzo apparently knows him well enough to know what’s bothering Aeleus without him having to say a word.
Also I can see how little Ienzo could latch onto Aeleus pretty easily - Xaldin, too - especially when he gets tired of dealing with Even. Lexaeus looks like a big teddy bear and that’s definitely something intriguing to a kid. I’m sure that there were moments we didn’t see where Ienzo would trail after Aeleus during his patrols when he was trying to avoid Even and his research.  As such, I’m sure Aeleus had gotten used to the little one following him around, hanging off of his arms, etc. enough to take a shine to him. He definitely helped Ienzo hide with Even came looking for him. Even was smart and goal-oriented and Ienzo liked being around him to learn things, but Aeleus was always there to protect him and take care of him when he needed to have fun or got tired of Even.
I’m sure that Aeleus was super relieved to see that Ienzo had become a Somebody again and to see this boy strong and smiling after being in pain for so long. Ienzo was probably hurt by the fact that Even - Vexen - didn’t end up the same way, so I’m sure that Aeleus was looking out for any annoyances or sadness that Ienzo felt over losing another mentor. He also probably actively patrols the lab to make sure that no harm comes to him.
Even, on the other hand, did as any parent would and tried to keep Ienzo on track with his research. He doesn’t really do the whole ‘emotions’ thing and obviously thinks that Ienzo would learn best if he stays on task.  Even shows concern and aggravation when looking for Ienzo when Ventus saves him, so you can pretty much interpret that he wants Ienzo to be safe but he isn’t exactly experienced in dealing with other children and their needs or emotional wants.
As Sami put it in our discord discussion a long time ago, “The sum up of it is that both men care for Ienzo desperately, but Even is doing things from far away whereas Aeleus is a lot more hands-on and emotion-based.” In essence, both Aeleus and Even played important roles in helping Ienzo turn out to be the way that he is in KH3.

Family Found Part 46: At the Worst
The Secret that’s been keeping Y/N and the Raw roster on edge finally comes to the surface. As threatened, Dean is at risk of losing everything… unless he can fight back one last time.
Warnings/Promises: wrestling violence, reconciliation
Word Count: 3525
Note: Oh my gosh. I keep looking at my series plot list, and it’s a little freaky to see it with so few chapters left. Pretty much everything is already plotted out, and in a perfect world I’d just write it all in a weekend and queue it to go. Probably won’t happen, but eh. Thank you guys for sticking around for this personal test of mine. Please let me know what you’ve thought about this series. DMs and anon are always open. Enjoy!
Part 1: Welcome to the Team
Part 45: Oncoming Storm
Tumblr media
Despite the ruckus he’d caused in your office, Elias was not available for Drew McIntyre to beat up. Because you hadn’t seen him. Nobody had. As a replacement, you placed Bobby Lashley and Dolph Ziggler in his path for a handicap match.
“That’s smart of Y/N,” Renee noted, “McIntyre practically hates Dolph, and Lashley is a strong challenge. Together they should be able to handle his rage.”
Corey wasn’t so agreeable. “Yeah, smart. I think that Y/N gave Elias too many chances; it’s gone to his head! First, he doesn’t fight last week. Then this week he can’t be found?”
“Well someone who will be found tonight will be Brock Lesnar. As Seth Rollins said last week, tonight is the signing of the contract for their WrestleMania match. All three of our competitors will get to face-off tonight.”
Renee harrumphed. “Debatable. No one’s seen him either.”
Each time Lashley or Dolph switched tags, Drew took a second to breathe. To reset. He was wearing the men down, instead of the other way around. If he could keep this up at WrestleMania, then Elias was going to be in trouble.
Just thinking the name summoned a guitar strum. Drew stumbled in his attack as he heard the guitar and saw Elias circle the ring. Elias wasn’t singing, just strumming, but it was enough to distract Drew from a series of coordinated moves. He roared and shifted his focus back. Calmly, Elias watched as Drew took control of the match again, eventually pinning Lashley.
McIntyre’s knuckles paled with his grip on the ropes as he stared down at Elias. It made his blood boil that Elias wasn’t even bothered to react. As the drifter walked away, Drew swore that he was going to regret every note and strum.
***
Lashley and Ziggler weren’t even out of the ring yet when Sami Zayn came out to the ring. He danced his way down the ramp, then took a mic. “How would you all like to see me put my life on the line?” It wasn’t what everyone thought he was going to say, but they welcomed the thought anyway. “Alrighty then.”
With a smart click of his heels, he turned to face the stage. “I’ve got something to get off my chest. Now I’m an NXT grown wrestler myself, and I’ll be the first to admit that moving up to the main roster isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but when it comes to the ‘Authors of Pain’,” he said with quotation fingers, “I don’t see champions. I see puppets. First Paul Ellering. Then Drake Maverick. And now… Dr. M, whatever that means. So, I’m calling out you, AOP. Not your puppet master. I say that you can’t defend those titles without help. That you are not champions. And that you are cowards that hide behind someone else. That you hide because there are not two strategic brain cells between you-”
He shivered as their music interrupted. But he smiled. Everything was going to plan. They marched to the ring, circling it. They stood on the apron on the opposite side of the ring. Sami’s back was to the stage when the lights went out. When they came back up, Dr. M. was behind him inside the ropes.
“Those are some strong words, Sami,” his voice made Sami whip around. “But I know you meant every word. And I understand. You are a hypocrite. A coward that would never speak your mind out loud without Kevin Owens watching your back.” Slowly, Dr. M turned and faced Kevin Owens, who was just finishing his stealth climb into the ring. Unbothered, he turned back around. “You can lead a man to a hospital, but you can’t force him to medicine. So be it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have other patients to see to.” Giving a strong eye to Kevin, he left the ring. He snapped and AOP entered the ring, dragging in a referee.
The match that followed was rough. Akam and Rezar did not appreciate Sami’s opinion of them, nor Kevin’s attempt to attack their manager. At the same time, Kevin and Sami were standing by their proof. Without someone telling them what to do, AOP was stalling before attacks. A lucky hit took Kevin to the canvas, where he was pinned. They left celebrating like NXT days, then slipped back into their more serious mood before leaving the arena.

Deep in thought, you weren’t watching where you were going. You collided with something hard and tall. Something that turned out to be a someone.
“No, Seth. I can’t talk about this.” You tried to move past him, but Roman stepped in to block your path too.
“We have to talk about something.” Roman let go of your shoulders, give you range to turn back to Seth.
“Whatever they’ve offered you, it’s not worth it. Trust me.” Seth pleaded with his eyes. You avoided looking at them and focused on anything else in the hallway.
“I didn’t do it for the money or the fame. Your story was lesson enough.” Your voice dropped, weary. “That’s not what they’ve got on me.”
Seth titled your chin up. “What are you talking about? Whatever it is, we can help you.”
“No, you can’t.” Why was it so hard to breath? “It’s my fault and I have to do what I can to work around it.” The statement distracted them enough for you to get by, but Roman caught you again.
He leaned down and did his best to look you in the eye. “Y/N?”
No oxygen. No thoughts. Just the words you didn’t want to say. “It’s a contract. I pitched it to Stephanie and Hunter and thought they liked it. But they added things. Things that would rip Dean apart and-“ You broke away from his grasp. “I can’t talk about this. I’ve said too much already. You’re just going to have to let me be.”
They stayed for a minute while you practically ran down the hallway. Blinded by the boil of emotions, you ran into someone else.
“Y/N, we need to talk.” Baron loomed overhead.
“I can’t. I’m busy.” You hissed as his arm flashed out to block your way.
“Make time. I want a match. Tonight. Now would be good.”
You sighed and looked behind you when you heard footsteps. Roman saw Baron and knew why he was there. He gave you a nod, which didn’t exactly please you, but it got both men out of the way so you could think. “Fine. You and Roman have a match tonight. Now.” You stood still while Baron gloated. He dropped his arm with a chuckle, giving you room to finally escape.
***
Both men weren’t going to give an inch. Even as their energy waned, the crowd was enjoying the display of power. Roman fell into the ropes on one side, trying to catch his breath. As he got back up and looked off into the crowd, Dr. M popped up in front of his face. Startled, he fell back into Baron’s next attack. He quickly recovered but was shaken. Dr. M had disappeared. Eerie laughter came from one corner, though nobody was there.
Baron fell to the canvas. Roman geared up for a spear. Dr. M appeared over his shoulder. Roman saw him on the Titantron and spun around to attack. Baron swooped in as Roman missed with a swing, beating him to the canvas and finally winning the pin. Then he got the hell out of the ring. No need to stick around when Dr. M was doing his thing. Dean and Seth ran by him on the ramp. They circled around Roman’s kneeling form.
With his eerie laugh in full force, Dr. M left the ring. He stood at the base of the ramp. And then he was gone.
Seth and Dean helped Roman to his feet and out of the ring. “Don’t worry about me,” he said, shrugging them off. “You guys have enough to worry about tonight. I haven’t seen him, but if Brock does show up, you need to be focused.”
Seth sighed. “I take that to mean you won’t be at the signing?”
“No.”
“Then what will you be doing?” Dean asked. He read the expression on Roman’s face. And disagreed. “Really?”
“I’m going to be watching Y/N’s back. Same way I watch yours.” He tried to walk on his own but limped up the ramp.

Ruby had issued another open challenge. With WrestleMania not even two weeks away, in her eyes, no one was going to be able to take the title from her. She laughed with Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan in the ring while waiting for her opponent. They all froze as “I’m not like most girls,” played through the speakers. Ruby was mostly silent, and she didn’t appreciate her girls’ giggles as they wished her luck.
Their giggles turned to worried hints and tips as Ruby struggled. Nia was taking no prisoners. Several times, the bell box readied to announce a new champion. Each time, Ruby desperately kicked out. The counts got closer and closer to three. Sarah and Liv jumped up onto the apron, ready to spring at a moment’s notice. Nia moved to knock them off. The referee was checking on Ruby, giving the Squad room to attack her without repercussions. Ruby saw her fall and took advantage, retaining her title.
Like a pack of hyenas, the women laughed all the way backstage.
***
Alexa Bliss inched around a corner. She breathed a sigh of relief and proudly took a step forward without looking. She bumped into Ruby, fresh out of her match. “Well hello there, Alexa!” she tried to dart away, but Ruby tossed an arm over her shoulder. “Didn’t Liv and Sarah tell you I was looking for you?”
Alexa gulped. Then disgusted, she removed Ruby’s arm from her shoulder. “Yeah. So?”
“Well, you kept harping on ‘unfinished business’… and I have to agree,” she sighed. “We’re not done. Now I just beat Nia, since you missed it lurking around backstage, and I am still without a match for WrestleMania. And it sucks, but you don’t have one either.” She talked over Alexa’s sputtering. “I know you’re going to be busy hosting, but why don’t we help each other out? I mean, I could always beat you up here and now, or I’ll just destroy you there. But you’ll have a chance. You game?”
As Ruby caught her forearm in a vice-grip, Alexa grimaced and grit her teeth. “What do you have in mind?”
Ruby smiled dangerously. “We have a match next week. Either way, you’re going to WrestleMania. But if I win, I pick the stipulation and you don’t know until the match starts. And if you win… well, I’ll still beat you but at least you’ll have a say in which way. Sound good? Great. See you next week.”
She was off like a shot, leaving Alexa to rub some feeling back into her arm.

As the new Raw Women’s tag champions, Bayley and Sasha Banks had a few things to say about the former champions. “They did what they set out to do,” Sasha said. “They brought our new tag titles to the forefront of the business. Last week they had the main event of Raw. They were dominant, beating any team that came their way. And the Riott Squad proved time and time again that the women’s division was something to pay attention to.”
Bayley nodded in agreement. “Having said that, they forgot one little thing. Nothing lasts forever. The women’s division is constantly moving forward. Evolving. Growing stronger and building momentum. Getting better and better. Their time is over. We are the future. We have been through NXT, Smackdown, Raw. The future is now. And it is standing here in this ring.” They held their titles up, then dropped them and fell into a fighting stance.
With their music, Natalya and Rhonda Rousey walked onto the stage. “That may be so,” Natalya said, “but as you said, nothing lasts forever. Prove that you are the so-called best of the business.” She motioned between herself and Rhonda. “You ladies up for a challenge?”
The Boss n’ Hug Connection shared a smile. Sasha nodded. “Sure. Are you?”
During the match that followed, Bayley and Sasha showed off. The high was still real, and they were capable of riding the adrenaline without making too many mistakes. Rhonda and Natalya, on the other hand, were struggling. Both were dominant in the ring. But when it came time to tag or to work together, cracks turned into fissures. One would reach for a tag, and the other would be missing. Then Rhonda was thrown from the ring. It took her eight seconds to wobble back to the ring. At nine seconds, she was reaching for the roes to pull herself up. At ten, she couldn’t get into the ring. Furious, she stepped back, dragging Liv Morgan out from under the ring.
On the other side, Sarah Logan attacked Natalya, knocking her to the ground. The former champions disappeared as quickly as they’d appeared. Thus freed, Natalya and Rhonda met back in the ring while Sasha and Bayley rolled out and watched from the ramp. The two women began to blame one another. Defending themselves truthfully to the Riott Squad’s interference, but neither was listening. The referee pushed them apart before it turned into another brawl. Natalya stomped off, breaking through Sasha and Bayley on her way by.

You focused on not letting your anxiety show. The ring had never felt so large an empty. Or so foreboding. It was time to address the WWE universe. “As you all know, in just thirteen days, WrestleMania will finally be here.” Their response made your cheeks twitch with a small smile. “There are one or two spots that haven’t been filled yet, but we’ve still got two weeks. That brings us to tonight. And to a contract signing.” You took a breath to call Seth and Dean to the ring, but Stephanie McMahon and Triple H’s intros interrupted in turn.
They calmly walked down to the ring. Stephanie carried the leather folder in one arm. She sent you a perturbed smile after stepping through the ropes. “Y/N, I found this in your office and figured you might need it. It’s kinda hard to have a contract signing without the contract.”
“Oops,” you halfheartedly gulped.
Hunter stepped into the ring too. You moved to the other side, using the space like an invisible barricade. “I would like to think otherwise, but it almost looks like you don’t want this match to happen as planned. Don’t you think Dean is mad at you enough?”
“Leave him out of this.”
Speak of the devil, Dean’s music sounded. You closed your eyes. This was a bad dream. Seth followed him out to his own music. And he had questions. “So, I noticed a large absence backstage. Care to explain that, Hunter?” He joined Dean on the far side of the ring, forcing you to stand in the middle.
“That’s right, Seth,” he mocked, “Brock Lesnar isn’t here. How observant of you. No, Brock signed the contract already, as witnessed by Paul Heyman. I’ll be signing as your witness.”
You stammered, “witnessed?”
The explanation was handed off to Stephanie. “Well, given the specifics of this match, we need to make sure that the competitors are willing to endure the consequences. And that they are doing this of their own free will.”
“Consequences? Free will?” Dean shared a look with Seth, then looked at you with a growl. “What is she talking about, Y/N?”
“Go on, Y/N, tell them what this is.” Stephanie waved the leather folder in her hand. Then handed it to you. Hunter stood behind her, daring you to rebel.
You swallowed. Hard.
“It’s a contract. For a triple threat match at WrestleMania for the Universal Championship.” The crowd initially cheered, but it faded into confusion. “You two against Brock Lesnar, and against each other.”
Dean and Seth shared a look. Seth shrugged. “So? This sounds like another one of your great ideas.”
“It was.” If you could keep your breathing even for a few more minutes, maybe you wouldn’t stutter. “When I pitched it to management,” you gestured towards Stephanie and Hunter, “it was a normal match with room for a no disqualification clause. But they… it developed into more. Another clause was added.” You licked your lips desperately.
“Keep going, Y/N. You’re just now getting to the best part.” Hunter stepped closer and patted you on the shoulder to encourage you. It did nothing but make you shiver.
“As the contracts stands, whoever loses the match has to leave WWE. Forever.” The crowd gasped, though Dean and Seth were still confused. “It’s not just whoever gets pinned, which was the original idea. It’s both of the competitors who lose.” The words began to pour out. “This means, Dean, that even if you pin Lesnar, Seth would have to leave too. Or you would if he pins Lesnar. Or both of you. The original plan was to create an opening to finally get rid of the Beast. I thought… I knew between the two of you that you could beat him. I thought…” you turned back to look at the Authority. “I thought I was doing what… what was best for business.”
Stephanie barked out a laugh. “What’s best for business? Brock Lesnar is one of our biggest assets. Why would we ever give you a chance to ruin that for WWE?”
“You guys are wasting your money to pay him to do nothing. Lesnar is not a champion. He may have had the title and the crown, but like an absent king, everybody knows where the real power lies. In the people.” Rage boiled in your veins.  “Dean and Seth are some of the best here. They just don’t grovel at your feet like you’d like them too.” The word hung in the air, freezing over under Hunter’s scrutiny.
Stephanie stepped closer. “No matter how many times you use that argument, Y/N, it’s not going to change anything. Now. Seth. Dean. The contract?”
You jumped as Dean placed his hand on your shoulder.
“It’s okay, Y/N,” he whispered.
“Please,” you shook your head, mic at your side, “don’t do this. It’s a trap. Please, no.” Your shoulders slumped as he kissed the top of your head and took the contract out of your hands.
Hunter smirked as Dean twiddled with the pen. Dean looked back, asking Seth if he was in it too. Seth accepted the pen as his answer, signing after looking at Dean’s signature. You covered your face and rubbed your temples, missing any silent conversation they exchanged. Seth handed the contract back to Hunter to finalize.
“See,” Hunter said, signing blindly, “that wasn’t so hard.” He took Stephanie by the arm and gave you the contract on their way out of the ring. You glanced at the signatures, resigned to hate that you had just-
Wait.
You looked up at Dean, who was smirking. Seth too.
“Mr. Helmsley?” Your voice caught in your throat for a second. “Are you sure you want this contract to go through?” Hunter stared you down as you fought not smiling. “You see…um. You signed the wrong line. You signed as one of the competitors.” A laugh escaped you. This had just gotten interesting. “As this contract states,” you flipped back a page, “any wrestler who competes under this contract and loses must leave the World Wrestling Entertainment company forever. If you beat Seth, who signed in the right place, Brock would have to leave and you…” you shrugged. “The lawyers could read through this and double check how much of this would apply to you, but at the base understanding, you would not be able to wrestle again. No more WrestleMania moments, no more inserting yourself into matches. And, at the worst, you would also have to leave the administration.”
Behind your smile, it felt like your whole being was glowing. You held the folder out to him.
“I may make the matches, but you still outrank me. You can dissolve this contract.”
Hunter snatched the folder away and looked closely at the signature and the clause he added. He pulled it out of the folder, flipping through and scanning for any way out. The crowd was deathly silent as he considered all angles.
They went wild as he tore the contract in half.
“We’re not done, Y/N,” he said, pointing at you.
“I understand, sir.” The threat could not defeat the proud smile on your face. Or the matching ones on Dean and Seth. Dean picked you up and spun you around once they were gone. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to get you into this mess.”
He ruffled your hair, despite your protest. “What else is family for?” He lightly tapped his fist against your cheek. “Can I get a match next week?”
“Against whom and how many?”

I got ready to do whatever Matt had planned, I was a tad annoyed. But, I knew I’d get over it sooner rather later. It’s not like he knew he was messing anything up. And besides, I could use the night out anyway.
I made sure to dress up a bit though.
A comfortable, cute, dress that stopped just above my knee. I fixed my hair, and did my makeup before walking out. I couldn’t help but notice Kenny staring just a bit.
“Ugh. Took you long enough.” Matt complained, causing me to roll my eyes, and Page to punch him in the shoulder. He rubbed the pained spot, and sighed. “Let’s just go.” He said, rolling his eyes.
Cody eyed Kenny, and instantly knew something was up with him. As the rest of us walked out, he grabbed Kenny by the arm, turning his attention to him. “Why are you acting so weird? What’s wrong with you?”
Kenny opened his mouth, ready to give an excuse, but no words came out. Instead he just shook his head, and furrowed his brows. “I’m not acting weird!” He exclaimed, his voice a bit more high pitched than usual, causing Cody to grow more suspicious. “We..should go!” Kenny said, after clearing his throat, trying to get his tone back to normal before walking out.
Cody silently promised himself to figure things out, before walking out behind him.
We drove together, all pretty silently to a restaurant we all used to hang out at the only difference was, Adam was also with us most of the time and now, he wasn’t.
“So..Matt, who have you signed me up to hang out with today?” I chuckled. “Just the regulars. Finn, Sami, Kev, AJ, Kyle, Bobby, Roderick, etc.” He shrugged.
I cocked my brow. “You..didn’t invite Adam. Right Matt?” I asked, needing to be sure he hadn’t done something that stupid.
He gave me a disgusted look, and rolled his eyes. “As if I would ever invite someone I don’t even want you with. Do you know me at all Y/N?” He asked. “If I was gonna invite anyone, it’d be Marty.” He smirked.
“And did you?” I said as my face hardened.
“No. I need a break from him. Unless..you miss him?” He teased.
Kenny exhaled sharply, and clenched his fists. “Matt, she doesn’t want him around. Drop it.” He hissed, before I had time to joke back with Matt.
I breathed a laugh, awkwardly. Unsure of why Kenny was being the way he was. “It’s..okay Ken, I’m sure he was just joking around.
“Yeah, geez. Nobody ever lets me do anything.” Matt whined, crossing his arms, annoyed.
Cody began to get more suspicious about Kenny’s behavior, but assumed it was connected to the bet, which just made him more annoyed with him.
Kenny’s face softened, and he muttered an apology before going back to his silence.
The rest of the car ride was even more awkward, for reasons I still don’t understand. Maybe sleeping with Kenny was a mistake. Is that why he was acting like this? I thought things would go back to normal. And, maybe they would eventually, or maybe they never would, and I’d just made a huge mess out of everything.
I tried to contain my miniature freak out, while I was still in front of anyone, and we finally, we made it to the restaurant. Everyone went in, but I hung back for a second so I could talk to Kenny.
I brushed over his hand with mine, taking him a bit by surprise, and causing him to jump back a bit.
I breathed a laugh, and put my hands up in defense, and he laughed slightly, as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“Is..everything okay?” I asked, as I put my hand on his shoulder, making his demeanor change, and his face to soften.
“Yeah, everything’s fine. I’m just a bit..’frustrated’ I guess..” He winked. “I mean, this isn’t exactly what I had in mind for today.”
I couldn’t help but smile, both relieved he wasn’t upset, and a bit flattered by his flirting.
“Me either..but, I think we can wait. Right?” I chuckled, as I dropped my arm at my side.
He nodded. “Right..” He said, I smiled and walked in. Leaving him standing there by himself for a few seconds. “I’m used to waiting..” He sighed to himself, watching me walk in, and then following in behind me.
“There you are, I was starting to think you bailed.” Page chuckled as I joined the group. Cody pulled Kenny aside separately, and sat across from him at a booth with his hands folded on the table.
“Okay. What’s wrong with you?” He asked. “Is this really about the bet?” He sighed.
Kenny rolled his eyes and shook his head. “No. That bet was a terrible idea, and I doubt either of us are gonna win it.”
“You’re probably right, but why are you so sure all of a sudden?” Cody asked, cocking his head.
“Because..” Kenny started. “I..slept with Y/N.” He whispered.
Cody’s mouth fell ajar, and his eyes widened. “What? When? How?” He asked. “No, no, no, nevermind that. Just why? Why would you do something so stupid?”
Kenny shrugged, and sighed. “She was upset, about her breakup still..and she was saying she hadn’t been with anyone since, and she was just..so pretty like usual, and she needed someone. I wanted to be that someone..I don’t know. I mean, it was my idea..I know I shouldn’t have but..she’s just so perfect, and when she wanted to sleep with me too, I didn’t think about how weird things might be. I didn’t care!” He explained.
Cody pursed his lips together angrily, and shook his head. “Oh. My. Gosh. You-You’re-son of a b*tch.” He hissed too annoyed and frustrated to finish his sentence. He slammed his fist on the table. “You idiot. You’re in love with her.” He stated dryly.
“What? N-No I’m not.” He argued.
“I wish that were true..but I can see it all over your face. Ugh! I wanna punch you so bad right now!” He growled, as his face turned bright red with frustration.
“Would you calm down? I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone so, try not to yell at me so loud.” Kenny said, already becoming annoyed.
“Fine. But, please, please, please. Think this through. I don’t know what you guys plan to do, and I don’t need to know. But, if you’re in love with her, you can’t just casually sleep with her. You know that, right?”
“I, am not in love with her. Not that any of this is your concern..” Kenny replied, refusing to look Cody in the eyes.
Cody clenched his fists as his eye began to twitch. “You’re the one that told me every-ugh, nevermind. Just, don’t do anything stupid, okay?” He begged, his tone dripping with annoyance before he rubbed the temples of his forehead and left the table.
Kenny took a deep breath. He never really considered that he might be ‘in love’ with me, he knew he had feelings for me, but he always told himself they weren’t that serious.
What if Cody was right?
He shook his head, he couldn’t think about any of that now. He pushed it out of his head, and returned to the group. I smiled at him.
“Where’d you go?” I chuckled. “You aren’t avoiding me, are you?” I teased.
He breathed a laugh, and shook his head. “No, of course not..” He said awkwardly.
“So, you regret leaving Smackdown?” AJ teased.
“And, just out ‘ov curiosity, why would she?” Finn chuckled. “She loves ‘er Raw coworkers.”  He teased, as he put his arm around me. Kenny glared at Finn, annoyed by the gesture, even if though I knew it was friendly, Kenny didn’t care. It made him angry, jealous even. But, he just looked away, trying to brush it off. Cody rolled his eyes when he noticed Kenny’s behavior.
“I do love my Raw friends, but I miss some of the people on Smackdown too.”
“Like..Adam Cole for example?” Kevin smirked.
I breathed a laugh. “Kevin, making things as weird as possible, like always I see.” I said sarcastically.
He shrugged. “You aren’t saying no..” He said before turning to AJ “How is Adam by the way? I don’t really get to talk to him much, now that I’ve moved to Raw.”
AJ cleared his throat, wishing Kevin would just drop it (and he isn’t the only one), and move on. “He’s uh..fine. I guess. He has his stable now, you know. They’re probably better people to ask than me..” He said awkwardly.
“Right, right, I know.” Kevin said, before turning his attention back to me. “So, have you talked to him, since you packed up and left without another word?” He asked.
Taking me back just a bit.
“Kev, come on...it’s none ‘ov our business.” Finn stated.
“You..weren’t even there. You have no idea what you’re talking about.” Page said, calmly coming to my defense, like always.
“I’ve known them longer than you Sweetheart.” Kevin smirked.
Page rolled his eyes resisting the urge to punch the condescending look off Kevin’s face.
Kenny clenched his fists. “No, Page is right. You have no idea what the f*ck you’re talking about. In fact, for the last part of their relationship you were pretty much never around them, and um..newsflash! I was! Your ‘little friend’ is no saint. Okay? So please, don’t make everything about him, he can do that just fine on his own.” He snapped.
Cody smacked his forehead and shook his head.
Kevin looked more shocked than any of us did, he swallowed the lump in his throat, and turned his attention to me. “I’m..sorry. This isn’t about Adam. I shouldn’t have even brought him up.” He apologized.
I nodded in response.
“Oookay! I’m gonna pretend none of that even happened.” Matt said awkwardly, trying to break the tension somehow.
I smiled softly at Kenny, before pulling him aside. “You..didn’t have to do that you know,” I said. “But, thanks.”
“Anytime..” He said shyly.
“I know you hate Adam..but now, I’m sure the restaurant does.” I teased. He chuckled in response. “Just..try to dial it down next time.” I joked.
“No promises.” He winked.
I smiled slightly before we re-joined the group at our table, just in time to hear Matt complaining about something that I’m sure was probably ridiculous.
“It’s not a big deal Matt.” Cody assured him.
“Well, excuse me, if I’m a bit upset that I invite people to hang out on the one time we’re in the same town, and they just don’t show up!” Matt huffed.
“What’s his problem?” I chuckled, as Kenny pulled out a seat for me. I nodded as a thanks before turning my attention back to Matt just in time to miss Cody shoot Kenny a questioning, and disappointed glance. Kenny just rolled his eyes in response.
“He’s mad because Kyle, Bobby, and Roderick, haven’t showed up yet.” Sami explained, playfully rolling his eyes.
Not a second later, they walked in. Only..they had one more person with them.
Adam.
“Oh..hey Babe..” He smirked.
Kevin chuckled. “And you thought I was gonna make this awkward.” He whispered.
This was gonna be a long day.

It's 3 AM and nobody is online. Time to gush about my nutzo story. Into The Horizon Zowens stuff under the cut
Top 10 Changes To The Timeline Caused By Shane McMahon's Disappearance In 2001
(As currently envisioned)
.
10. While Kevin Owens still took his name to honor Owen Hart and his son, his habit of taking to the air is partially a tribute to Shane
9. Big Falls and Leaps of Faith were pretty much outlawed in the WWE after 2001, much like a jersey number might be retired in tribute to a sports legend. Kevin's leap off the Wrestlemania sign in 2020 was permitted as a chance to finally move on after nearly 20 years.
8. Vince blamed himself for Shane's disappearance and grew mentally unstable in the aftermath. It's also made clear that the incident caused a huge scandal in the WWE that damn near put the company out of business. By the time 2020 rolls around, the entire series of events has the taboo nature in the WWE of friggin Fight Club. First rule of WWE is you do not talk about "The Incident". The second rule of WWE is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT "THE INCIDENT" (However... see #3)
7. Vince passed away prior to 2020. It's never expressed how he died but it is implied to be before his time.
6. After Vince became too unstable to run the WWE, Stephanie and Hunter took over. With them running the show, several changes in content vs our world happened including much more LGBT positivity and Sami getting multiple main-roster title runs.
5. With both Vince and Shane being gone and Linda in politics, Stephanie and Hunter were left as the only on-screen authority figures. As such, they never left TV and, when Sami and Kevin teamed up in 2017 (Earlier than in our timeline), it was against Triple H and his "New Authority" faction.
4. Because they were fighting the New Authority (who were the heels), Sami never turned heel and Kevin was a babyface much sooner. However, rather than their team-up ending in injury, it ended with Kevin betraying Sami yet again after multiple failed attempts at the RAW Tag Titles. (See below)
3. Despite the absolute verboten nature of the disappearance of Shane and the aftermath, the Capitol Wrestling Center in this timeline is named the VKM Memorial Arena in honor of Vince McMahon while the Performance Center is known as the SBM Memorial Center after Shane. The joint facility is known (in slang terms) as the VSM Memorial Center.
2. Sami and Kevin's time in NXT was remarkably similar to the one we know. However, Sami was brought up to the main roster sooner. Sami and Kevin's 2016 program was over the US title after Sami won it in the ladder match at WM32 (rather than the IC title), but the Battleground finale (which occurred in June) ended with Kevin getting the win and walking away with the belt. AND
1. At Wrestlemania 2018 Sami and Kevin had a tag team match against the New Authority, just like they did against Shane and DBry in our timeline. However, in this case, it was a match where, if they won, they won the RAW Tag Titles. If they lost, they were fired from RAW. They lost after Sami was beaten senseless by Triple H and pinned and, after the match, Kevin tenderly went to check on Sami, helping him to his feet and kissing him on the lips in front of tens of thousands of people... right before kicking him in the midsection and stunning him into oblivion. The incident became known as the "Judas Kiss" moment and became one of the most talked about events in WWE History due to being a big moment for queer visibility.
It was the last time Kevin and Sami kissed before the events of the story... something that will come into play as time progresses.
---
Oh, one bonus thing. Despite them ending their time in 2018 as bitter enemies, by the time 2020 and our story rolls around, they're somewhat cordial again. As in 2020, they are on different shows and have been for some time, which has allowed them both to heal. Also, they are both babyfaces when the story starts with Kevin having begrudgingly accepted that he enjoys having Sami around and, more than that, seeing Sami is the highlight of the joint PPVs.
So there you have it. 4am ramblings about my nutjob fanfic and the ways that Shane O Mac being plucked from 2001 might have altered the course of the WWE's and Sami and Kevin's timeline. If you actually read this, you get a cookie.

Just Give Me Time
Request // Seth Rollins request - After one night stand the current women's champ finds herself pregnant with Seth's baby and freaks out and breaks down when she can't wrestle anymore as she was in the top spot she worked so hard for confides in Charlotte (her bestie). She then has to face up to the fact that she is pregnant and tells Seth who is in shock and doesn't know how to react. Sami, Finn and Charlotte all promise to be there for her when Seth doesn't step up. The rest is up to you. Thanks.
A/N: I know, I know, a cliffhanger. But I love Seth too much to end it with him being an asshole. Again, I don’t own the gif. Credit to whoever made it!
Tumblr media
The top spot. Those three words were all that were running through your head. Over and over and over again. You couldn’t believe it. There was no way this was happening. One night has now changed your life forever. Your brain couldn’t seem to process every factor fast enough as your mind raced, from your career, to the father, to your life and freedom in general. You worked so hard for the spot you were in now. Countless sleepless nights in pain, both physical and emotional. Being far from home, your family, your friends, the people you grew up with. The bruises, the pulled muscles, the strain that this job took on the human body. You cursed at yourself for allowing this to even happen, even though you knew that in the end, even if this wasn’t the outcome, you’d probably still curse at yourself. How were you supposed to just give up wrestling? Could you? After all the years of hard work and dedication? No, you couldn’t. But you had to. You and Seth created a life together and now you had to own up to the facts and realize what needs to be done.
You turned your hotel room upside down looking for your phone, the one that you always seem to lose. You picked it up with trembling hands once you found it, your fingers quickly going to work on calling Charlotte. She always knew what to do and what to say. You could count on her as a guiding hand, as someone who could walk you through even the toughest times. Your heart rate kicked up as you heard the ringing. You loved Charlotte but nobody was ever supposed to find out about this. You were biting down on your lip so hard you were about to draw blood, nervously waiting for her to pick up.
“Char?” You spoke quietly once the ringing stopped, incredibly nervous and sick, too, at this point.
“Hey, girl. What’s up?” You knew she sensed that you weren’t yourself, but she was too considerate to interrogate you.
“I kinda made a little mistake… a little, big mistake, really…” You sighed, playing with the frayed strings of fabric on your ripped jeans.
“What do you mean?” She questioned, her tone growing a lot more serious.
“I mean, I kinda did something with Rollins… and now I’m having his kid.” You mumbled out as fast as you could, hoping and praying that she heard, because having to repeat the truth one more time would kill you.
“You, what, Y/N?” She gasped, slightly angry but in the way a best friend would be.
“Please don’t make me say it again. Please, Char, I need help. I don’t know what to do.” You begged, tears starting to form as your voice grew shaky. “I’m so scared. I don’t know what’s going to happen, I don’t want to stop wrestling, I don’t even know how I’m going to take care of a kid. I doubt the Mr. cares, he’s too busy practicing his baby making skills all the time.” You continued, tears rolling down your face. You wiped them with the back of your hand, still cursing at yourself.
“Listen, you need to calm down. I don’t know how true ‘stress is not good for pregnancy’ is, but you need to breathe. You’re going to go tell Seth. We can’t move forward until you do. I love you girl, you’re going to be fine, I promise. Just go talk to him and call me back once you’re done. Alright?”
You don’t know how you made your way to Seth’s room without passing out, but you did. This entire day feels like a blur, like you’re living, breathing, and talking but at the same time you’re not. You quietly and quickly made your way into the room once he opened the door, wiping your eyes a few more times before sitting down on the bed.
“Y/N?” He asked, the confusion evident in his voice. It’s as if he was scared to say or ask more than that, instead sitting down next to you and looking down at you. You didn’t have it in you to repeat the truth again, not speaking it wouldn’t change the reality, but you were too fragile to hear the words baby, kid, or pregnant.
“Do you remember a few weeks back?” You whispered, looking up at him. His brows furrowed as his mind began to work, and you knew he was putting two and two together. You crying, reminding him of the other night… Seth was slow sometimes but this was crystal clear. He didn’t speak, just looked into your eyes as if he was waiting for you to continue. Or to tell him those two words most guys in his position would dread. You gently took his hand in yours, placing it over your tummy. You hoped that would confirm it for him, and by the look in his eyes, it definitely did.
“No, this can’t happen.” He shook his head, moving his hand away as he said it. “I can’t do this.” He said sternly, still shaking his head.
“What?!” You yelled out, feeling sicker by the moment. “You think I can!? You asshole! I eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling, just like you!” You continued, the tears back and streaming down your face quicker than ever.
“Seth, your career won’t be over. Nothing is happening to your body. I’m the one who has to give it up. You just need to support me, as the father of this baby…” You sobbed, your words muffled by the fact that you were full on bawling now. Your voice was a lot softer, hoping some part of him would realize that you were right and that this was the right thing to do.
“How can you just say you can’t?” You buried your face in your hands, the weight of the world feeling like it was about to crash right down on you.
“That’s too much responsibility.” He said simply, his eyes never leaving you. You could hear the fear in his voice, and you knew he wasn’t as calm as he was trying to appear.
“I can’t help you, but please stop crying. It’s not good-“
“Yeah, yeah, it’s not good for the baby. The baby you don’t care about.” You continued angrily, getting up and heading towards the door.
“Hey.” He growled, grabbing onto your arm as you walked past him. “Just because I’m not ready to step up, it doesn’t mean I don’t care.” He defended himself, his dark eyes burning holes right through yours.
“Yes it does. That’s exactly what it means. This is your baby, you dick. If you cared you’d hold me and tell me everything will be fine. But instead you’re telling me “I can’t.” You countered, getting dizzier by the second. You felt like you were going crazy.
“Just give me time.” Were the last words you even bothered to listen to before pulling away from his hold on your arm and heading out of his room. He called after you for a while but you didn’t want to hear anymore, you wanted sleep and you wanted your best friends.
You had just woken up when you saw the doorknob moving, and you instantly knew it was Char because she was the only one with keys to your room. Finn and Sami followed her inside, all of them carrying flowers, chocolate, and even little teddy bears. You had called her right before you fell asleep, explaining everything that went down with Seth. She wasn’t surprised, but that didn’t make her any less mad. She assured you that everything happens for a reason. You needed to look at this positively and realize that it wasn’t the end of the world. You’ll make a return soon after, and with a cute mini best friend with chubby cheeks.
“How’s the mommy to be?” Finn laughed, walking over to the bed and sitting down next to you. “Everything will be okay, I promise. We’re all here for you, every single one of us. We are just as invested as you.” He spoke softly, a big smile on his face.
You loved your friends so much. You knew that without them this would all be unbearable.
“We’re not leaving your side, you know that?” Sami added, and you felt yourself tearing up again.
“I love you guys so much, you have no idea.” You sniffled, wiping at your tears again. Just as Charlotte was about to speak, there was another knock at the door.
“Y/N?” He called out, knocking on the door a few more times. “Let me in.”
Ahhhhh. Part 2?

5 - One In, One Out
On the 1st of January at 12:02 AM, the following took place at The Wash nightclub in Dalston.
On the roof terrace:
Graham shuddered to the first orgasm he had ever shared with another person and thought that this was going to be the best year ever.
Florence suddenly wondered if she had remembered to take her pill. She was pretty sure she had. Almost definitely.
Paul was one of many people who were pretending they couldn’t see the couple shagging behind the azalea bushes.
Simone was wondering why there weren’t any fireworks.  Weren’t there supposed to be fireworks on New Years Eve? Where were the fireworks?
Fergus was considering throwing Simone off the roof if she didn’t shut up about fireworks.
Tammy was having her last cigarette before quitting.
Keith was trying to discreetly roll a spliff without attracting too much attention.
Georgina thought Keith looked like a young Jeremy Vine. Apart from the dreadlocks, obviously.
Maria was trying to get people singing and didn’t understand why no one was joining in.
Claudette was one of several people wondering why Maria was singing “How Much is That Doggy In The Window?”
Hadley wanted to go back inside.
Sandeep was wondering who his ex-girlfriend had kissed at midnight.
Tara thought she and Sandeep had a future together.
Harry was wondering who the fuck invited their dad out for New Year’s Eve.
Ron was talking about the pills back in the day and how you just had to take one and you were on one for the rest of the night.
Chas hadn’t felt old until he’d seen the expressions of amused contempt on the faces of those kids as they took the piss out of his brother.
Billy looked at the skyline and wondered what the year ahead would bring.
 On the upper staircase:
Caroline was crying.
Julianne had her arm around Caroline, was rubbing her shoulder and said “there, there” but wasn’t really in the mood to be going through these dramas so early in the evening.
Nicholas stood around awkwardly, wondering what – if anything – he could do.
Genovese was knocking on the office door, so Ken could reset the credit card terminal.
In the office:
Ken was busy racking up lines of coke.
DJ Dan Diamond was promising himself that he would stop taking crappy bookings in these shitty two-bit clubs.
Chantelle was wondering if Ken expected her to shag DJ Dan Diamond.
Vicki wished she’d been able to get tickets for Ministry.
Pete was fairly sure he’d once had a handjob from DJ Dan Diamond at a festival in Berlin.
 In the stock cupboard:
A mouse was nibbling on a pistachio nut.
 In the first floor bar:
Sam was ignoring his boss’s previous warnings about drug use and necked two pills behind the bar.
Georgia thought that if Sam wanted to keep his job, he should either be more discreet or learn how to share.
Hamish still couldn’t get served, even when there was nobody else standing there.
Chris wasn’t sure whether to say Happy New Year to Pauline or Sabrina, so just stood there with his arms half outstretched to the room in general.
Sabrina was hugging Pauline and telling her that it was going to be their year. THEIR YEAR.
Pauline wished that Sabrina hadn’t eaten so much garlic before coming out.
Freddie was waiting for Sabrina to shut up so he could say Happy New Year to Pauline.
Tim was putting something in Pauline’s drink.
Kenneth wasn’t sure he wanted to hang around with Tim any more.
Michelle was wishing that she had stayed at home.
Tom was wishing that Michelle would take that look off her face and at least pretend to have a good time.
Carol hoped that she and Julius didn’t end up like Tom and Michelle.
Julius felt homesick.
Maxine was sick, but kept her mouth shut and was doing her best to swallow it without anyone noticing.
Jack tried to make a move on Maxine and didn’t understand why she wouldn’t kiss him.
Sharon watched Jack make a fool of himself and knew that she would be the one he went home with at the end of the night.
Andy thought he definitely was in with Sharon.
Penelope suddenly felt a sharp pain under her chin, like she’d been punched by an iron fist. She fell to the floor and was dead before reached it.
Kevin thought that Penelope was just staggering because she was drunk and was about to laugh at her. Then he saw the blood.
Jocasta was about to slap that fucking bitch that was bumping into her.
Coralina wished she’d worn better shoes. That heel was just about to snap.
Patti wasn’t going to be able to take her top back tomorrow. Not with Bacardi spilled down the back and sweat in the pits.
Carl had his hands on the skinny arse of some girl he had been introduced to twice, but whose name he had forgotten.
Jemima wondered if wanting to get off with a black guy - any black guy - was racist.
Callie had never seen what happened to Jemima when she drank and now understood why she generally only had lemonade at their works do’s.
Samson wanted to know why this one wasn’t as much fun as her friend.
Roxanne wondered what the point of wearing makeup and putting on nice clothes when guys went for scruffy old tarts.
Jack thought seventy-five a gram was extortionate, even for New Year’s Eve.
Toby would have given the gear away for free if it meant he could go home and be with Joy and the baby, but Ansell needed his money and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Sandra watched the deal go down and reminded herself that she was off-duty.
Bea was only pretending to be drunk. It was the only way she could justify acting the way she did.
Kayleigh wondered why Bea had to get so wankered every time they went out.
 On the lower staircase:
Kyle was explaining this theory about a universal consciousness and how we are all different vibrational frequencies of the same energy.
Sharon had no fucking idea what this guy was on about.
Pauline was just pleased that she had found somewhere to sit down.
Derek had surreptitiously bombed a load of speed and wanted to head back to the dancefloor.
Rose made a joke about ants in the pants, then blushed furiously for no discernible reason.
Luke had no idea that the woman he was snogging would be his wife by this time next year.
Cora was glad she had brought mints and condoms out with her.
Dave skipped down the stairs two at a time, keen to get back to the serious business of strutting his stuff.
 In the gents toilet:
Bill was completely missing the target and pissing all over his shoes.
Kamal couldn’t go.
Wendall was thinking that if he didn’t pull tonight, he might try being gay for a bit.
Nigel was remembering the time he ate a urinal cake for a bet and had to go and have his stomach pumped. Why didn’t he have nights like that any more?
David didn’t notice that there was blood in his piss, but could feel the stinging sensation.
Pete was trying not to be rude as he knocked on the cubicle door, but he was about twelve seconds away from shitting his pants.
Clyde told whoever it was outside knocking to fuck off and die.
Jacques was tapping his arm, trying to find a vein.
Andre hated toilet men and tried not to make eye contact.
Keith smiled as he held out a towel to the guy washing his hands.
Idris waited patiently for his turn and was careful not to make eye contact with anyone or any thing.
In the main room:
DJ Cheddar didn’t care if it made him a sellout - this year he was definitely going to produce a mash-up version of “Auld Lang Syne” and make a fortune.
Cheryl had dropped a contact lens and was weighing up the pros and cons of trying to find it versus spending the rest of the night winking like a pirate.
Liz wished she wasn’t on her period.
Kevin thought Liz smelled funny.
Theresa had dropped six pills and didn’t feel a thing. If she saw that scrawny fucker that had ripped her off, she was going to rip his tits off.
Dreamer was just there for the music. He didn’t hold with this new years shit.
Christos had been dancing for over and hour and hadn’t moved his feet once.
Sami thought house was for poofs and hairdressers, but these girls seemed to be into it, so…
Hector made the box.
Charlene liked to dance, but preferred it if guys were a bit clumsy. For some reason, she found it reassuring.
Veronica had been saving the last few drops of her vodka and coke for twenty minutes, waiting for someone to buy her a drink.
Bettina wondered why she was getting funny looks.
Lewis didn’t want to stare, but couldn’t help but notice that girl’s dress had gone totally see-through.
Bernard didn’t mind staring at all.
Francis thought they didn’t make tunes like this any more, even though the song had, in fact, only been released three weeks ago.
Indigo would rather have been in Bali.
Karl couldn’t work out what that guy was so upset about.
Frank knew trouble when he saw it and was pushing Karl and Dayton away from the dance floor.
Dayton was pissed off they had to leave. That girl in the see through dress was hot.
Fiona saw the flash above the crowd and thought it was a firecracker.
Ben did his best to aim Stephan’s hand way from the crowd, but couldn’t stop him from pulling the trigger.
Stephen had got the gun from his uncle and would have used it on that pussyhole motherfucker, if Ben hadn’t smacked his hand upwards and sent the shot into the ceiling.
Jason felt his eardrum burst as something loud exploded near his head.
Isaac knew what that pop meant and started running for the door.
Jen wanted to know where the fuck Isaac was going.
Freya didn’t know what the fight was about, but felt certain that her stupid little brother had been the cause of it.
Gemini thought it was typical. You couldn’t go for a dance without stupid men ruining everything.
Inga wanted chips.
Marco was feeling self conscious, but didn’t want anyone to know it.
Heidi was never drinking Jagermeister again.
Delores was considering a round of Aftershocks.
Jacqui thought she might go blonde this year.
Krystof kept one eye on his rucksack, which was in the corner of the room.
 In the ladies toilet:
Kirsty had noticed that one of her pupils was larger than the other and couldn’t stop staring at them.
Petra was wondering if her top made her look too slutty… or not slutty enough.
Christine was systematically washing every square centimeter of her hands while counting to five hundred and fifty five.
Jessie was using her lipstick to write “Cora is a big fat slag” on the cubicle wall.
Verity was wondering whether she could ask the girl in the next cubicle if there was any loo roll in hers.
Kat thought she felt something snap in her nose as she took that last bump.
Gina didn’t like the way Kat was scratching.
Louise had totally emptied her stomach, but still had the dry heaves.
Clair was holding back Louise’s hair and wondering whether putting her in a cab and sending her home alone made her a bad person.
Joe was having his first night out as a woman and apart from a couple of odd looks here and there, was actually starting to have a good time.
In the cloakroom:
Petra realised that she’d forgotten to put any tickets on hangers and was looking intently at items of clothing to see if she could remember to whom they belonged.
Paolo slid an iPhone out of a coat pocket and put it in his bag.
 On the door:
Ansell was telling a pissed student to fuck off home.
Miguel was laughing.
Donald didn’t know why these guards were outside his hall of residence and wouldn’t let him go to his room.
Tania was one minute into the New Year and had already broken her resolution to stop smoking.
Heidi was wishing she’d worn tights. It was freezing out there.
Donna thought that drunk guy went to her university and might be on her Introduction to Economic Theory course.
Marie was trying to get a signal on her phone to send messages to all her friends.
Penny had a signal, but no messages.

“Do you have to be so blatantly obvious?”
I cringed when I heard Miz’s voice as he walked up behind me.
“About what?” I groaned, flipping my head around to face him.
“This,” he scoffed, motioning toward Finn as he grappled in the ring with Sami.
“This what?”
“This googley eyed, drooling that’s been going on for months now,” Miz laughed, rolling his eyes for good measure.
“I don’t know what you’re...”
“Yes, you do,” he held his hand up as if to hush me “It’s pathetic. It really is. You and I both know that Finn friend zoned you a long time ago, so why torture yourself week in and week out?”
“Is this supposed to be some kind of heart to heart conversation?” I laughed in disgust “Miz, just mind your own business.”
I hated the fact that he knew so much.
He wouldn’t, if it wasn’t for Maryse and her big mouth. I needed to learn that anything said to her, went straight to him too.
“I’m trying to help you,” he wrapped an arm sympathetically around my shoulder “You need to face the facts, cut your losses...”
“Is there a problem ‘ere?”
We both looked up to see Finn standing in front of us. Sweat was dripping down his forehead, soaking his t-shirt and he had a towel wrapped around his neck.
“No,” Miz quickly pulled his arm away “No problem at all...As a matter of fact, I needed to speak to the two of you together. I’m glad you’re done with that horseplay...”
Finn’s eyes narrowed and I could tell by the stance he was taking, that he wanted to kick Miz’s teeth in.
“Horseplay?” he scoffed “It’s thins’ like dat, dat will win ya tha top championships. Workin’ ‘ard and...”
“Yeah, yeah,” Miz waved his hand “You’re a workhorse, you put in your time, you’re great, you’re fabulous, we get it...We need to talk about Miz Tv tonight.”
“What about it?” I folded my arms across my chest.
“Well, since the two of you have been paired up for this mixed tag at the pay per view next week...I’m calling you both out into the ring to face off against Emma and Cass tonight.”
“Fine,” Finn shrugged, grabbing hold of my shoulder to lead us out “We’ll see ya out ‘dare.”
“Yes, yes you will,” Miz smirked.
Before we could leave,  he opened his mouth and I knew I was going to want to die from whatever he said next.
“Oh,” he looked at me “Try to keep yourself together out there tonight. No googley eyes at Finn on Miz Tv.”
I felt my cheeks turning red and I wanted to crawl under the nearest chair.
He turned and left before I could say anything, not that I had the capacity to say anything at the moment.
“What’s he talkin’ about?” Finn scrunched his nose up, letting go of my shoulder and standing where we were facing each other.
“I, I don’t know,” I shook my head “He’s just an asshole.”
“Well I know ‘dat,” he laughed “But, why would ya be lookin’ at me...like ‘dat?”
“It’s, it’s nothing,” I shook my head, humiliated at that point.
“It’s not nothin’,” he stared at me “What does he know, ‘dat I don’t?”
“Nothing,” I echoed myself again “He’s just, he’s trying to start trouble between us before our match. You know how he is.”
“Rootin’ for the ‘otha team,” he smirked “As long as it’s not us.”
“Asshole,” I mumbled again, before following Finn toward the locker rooms.
I asked for a heavier than usual makeup job, later that night. I had a feeling that Miz would call me out again and I wanted to hide my flushing cheeks as much as possible.
Finn and I had been friends for a little over a year. Fairly early on, I had wanted more but I never told him. Finn made an effort to tell everyone that he didn’t have time for a relationship. His relationship, he always said, was with wrestling.
We had become incredibly close though. We rode together, sometimes we would room together, he helped me train....He was my best friend and he always told me I was the secret female member of the Bullet Club. He would be so cute when he said it too; ‘too sweeting’ me to make me feel better after a loss or to cheer me up after another in a long line of terrible dates.
Finn would always tell me I was too good for them and to focus on my wrestling, just like he did...but I couldn’t. I wanted a relationship. With him.
“Hey!”
I heard Finn’s voice behind me as I walked down the hallway. I closed my eyes and drew in a deep breath before turning around.
He was dressed for the ring. His jacket already stretched across his shoulders, his abs bared.
“Hey,” I smiled, trying my best to keep my heartbeat down.
“Listen, I talked ta da Miz,” he ran his hand up the back of his neck anxiously.
“You did?” I was able to squeak out.
“Yeah, listen if ya don’t wan’ ta do this thin’ tonight just tell me and I’ll get us out of it.”
Fuck.
Miz had told him.
All about my googley eyes and my feelings and what I wanted.
Damn Maryse. I would never tell her another secret again.
She wasn’t there or she would have gotten an ear full by now.
“No, not it’s ok,” I nodded, brushing my hair back over my shoulders “I’ll be fine.”
“Listen,” Finn stepped closer, his eyes staring into mine as his tongue danced along his lip nervously “If ya feel somethin’ for me...”
“I don’t,” I lied, “I, I don’t. Miz is just saying that to get under our skin. He’s wanting to get us off our game so he can fuck with us and get a spike in the ratings.”
“Well, he’s doin’ a good job,” Finn laughed, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket.
“Yeah,” I nodded “So, I guess I’ll see you out there.”
“Yeah,” he stared at the ground “Yeah, I’ll see ya...”
And with that, he walked away.
Had I pissed him off?
I was just trying to make things less awkward for him. He didn’t need to tell me what a good woman I was, how I’d make someone really happy..All the things I knew a guy like Finn would say.
If I couldn’t have him...My relationship was with wrestling.
I waited backstage, watching Finn make his entrance and step inside the Miz Tv ring.
I already wanted to throw up. Miz was such a wild card. Nobody knew what he was going to say next. I knew I had to push through though. We had a match to hype up and execute. I wouldn’t be the weak link and disappoint Finn.
“So Finn..”
I looked back up at the monitor, after having zoned out in thought for a minute.
“Finn, tell me what it’s like to get to tag with one of your besties, hm?” Miz folded his arms across his chest, leaning in closer to Finn as they sat side by side in their director’s chairs.
“Damn it,” I groaned, resting my hands on my bared hips nervously.
I was dressed in my ring gear too but I wished I was anywhere else.
“It’s...” Finn started to answer.
Miz cut him off. Of course.
“Because let me tell you, it has to be incredibly, incredibly difficult...Almost painful even, for her to have to come out here and work alongside you so closely...When we both know, she wants what she can’t have from you.”
The whole crowd reacted, mostly in shock, to the burn I was receiving.
Finn stood up and he and Miz started staring at each other.
My music hit and I was ushered to the gorilla.
Fuck, I didn’t want to go out there. I should have let Finn handle it like he said he would.
I made my way down the ramp awkwardly and slid in alongside them. I stood shoulder to shoulder with Finn, glaring at Miz.
“Oh, did you hear us talking about you?” he laughed, as my music faded “I was just about to reveal your little secret but by all means if you want to tell Finn and the whole WWE Universe how you’re madly in love with him...Be my guest.”
I wanted to slap him. It took everything in me not to. I didn’t want to risk being kicked out of my match, replaced.
Miz shoved a microphone at me and I took it, my eyes trained to the mat in utter humiliation.
“Ya don’t hafta ansa’ dat,” Finn spoke into his mic “As a matta a fact, we don’t have to ansa’ ta ya at all.”
“So true, Finn...So true,” Miz smirked “You do have to answer to Emma and Big Cass a week from Sunday, so if you want to skip the minor details...Let’s get down to business.”
My eyes were burning as I tried to hold back the tears.
Miz grabbed another chair and set it beside Finn’s.
Finn walked in front of him and smirked, before he kicked the second chair flying across the ring.
Miz recoiled in surprise, the crowd cheered and I didn’t know what to do.
Finn sat down, propping his feet on the footrest of the chair, his knees spread slightly and he patted his lap.
“Come on,” he smiled at me, his mic not to his lips.
“Finn,” I whispered.
The whole crowd had reacted to this with catcalls and cheering. Miz looked as confused as me.
“Sit,” Finn instructed me again.
I smiled as I slid down into the comforts of his lap...and his arms, as they wrapped around me.
He stared across the ring at Miz, that huge grin plastered on his face, much to Miz’s disdain.
“You were sayin’, Miz?” Finn picked up his microphone.
I could feel Finn underneath my ass...He was getting turned on...What in the hell was happening?
I sat there as Miz asked him about fighting Cass and blathered on about nothing...All while feeling Finn’s semi-hard dick pressing against me. I rested my hand against his chest and he glanced over at me, winking.
“I’m sorry,” Miz stood up “But what is happening here? I bring you two on here to talk about this match, not be all over each other.
“Maybe ya shoulda’ thought about dat one before ya decided ta put our personal lives on yer lil show,” Finn grinned even wider, the kind of grin that was actually for enticing anger.
Cass’ music hit and we both stood to our feet.
I made a point to stand in front of Finn, giving him time to not have quite such a large bulge in his ring shorts.
The next few minutes were a blur and ended with Finn taking a huge bump from Cass and me being laid out by Emma.
Once the segment ended, I sat up and crawled out of the ring. I had to get out of there before I had to look Finn in the eyes.
I got changed as quickly as possible and went straight to the hotel.
I was so confused and humiliated and devastated and every emotion possible.
First, Finn finds out I have feelings for him.
Then, its gets blasted all over tv...Despite the fact it was probably perceived as storyline.
Last, there was the fact that Finn got a hard on with me on his lap. What did that mean? Was it just the adrenaline rush of doing exactly what Miz didn’t want?
I spent a good five minutes getting all the makeup off my face and slid into my pajamas.
I checked my phone before I plugged it in for the night. No missed calls from Finn.
He was supposed to be rooming with Sami and I got a single for a change. I had never been so thankful in my life.
I reached to turn off my bedside light and was interrupted.
There was banging of a fist on my door and I froze.
If it was Miz...I was going to strangle him where he stood.
I slung the door open, fully expecting it to be him but it wasn’t.
Finn stood there. He had on a t-shirt and jeans, his arm framed in the doorway. Our eyes met and I immediately felt embarrassed.
“Finn, I,” I shook my head, unable to think of anything else to say.
“Ya shoulda’ told me,” he spoke dryly, his other hand reaching out so that he was holding the top of the doorframe with both hands now and leaning toward me.
“Why?” I whispered “What difference would it have made? Finn, you are married to your career...You say that all the time and I’m sure you have things with other women sometimes...I get that and...”
“Ya shoulda told me, so I coulda said I felt da same,” he leaned closer and our faces were inches from touching.
“Oh,” I gasped, barely audible.
“Ya gonna let me in?”
“Yes, yes, I’m so sorry,” I realized and moved to let him pass by me.
He walked straight to the bed and sat down on the edge of it.
“Finn...”
“I neva’ knew,” he shook his head “I mean, I thought dat maybe ya felt somethin’ too...but for fuck’s sake why didn’t ya tell me?”
He wanted what I did. It was difficult to process it.
“I’m telling you now,” I moved in front of him.
Fuck it.
“I’m telling you right now, Finn...I think...That maybe...I’m in love with you. You’re...You’re everything to me. You’re my best friend and you’re my coach and you’re...”
He grabbed my hand, pulling me so my stomach rested at his face level. His fingers slid up under my shirt and I gasped from surprise.
His warm mouth started kissing my stomach and his hands slid around to glide up my back. Without thinking, I grabbed his hair between my fingers and tugged on it lightly.
I felt him smile against me, leaning back and pulling at the bottom of my tank top.
Breathlessly, I pulled it off and he stood up.
Finn cupped my face in his hands and his eyes stared deep into mine.
I was standing there, half naked, in front of my best friend...and it felt right.
“From now on,” he grinned at me “Don’t keep thins’ ta ya self.”
“What about...” I started to ask.
“I think...No, I know dat I love ya,” he answered me mid-sentence “Now let me show ya.”
He kissed me and I practically squealed into his mouth. I could feel the pent up frustrations in each kiss and it only made me want him more. His tongue pushed at mine aggressively and I whimpered against his lips.
His mouth started sliding down my throat and I giggled. His facial hair tickled my skin and he started laughing against me.
We were such dorks.
And I loved us.
“What are ya laughin’ at?” he nipped at the base of my throat before he leaned back up.
“You,” I smiled “When I sat on your lap earlier...”
“Ya felt dat, huh?” he smirked, a hint of embarrassment on his face.
“Mhm,” I giggled, pushing him to sit on the bed again.
I reached for his shirt and he slid it over his head. I moved to straddle him, linking my hands behind his neck.
I started grinding on him immediately, my panties and his jeans between us.
“Maybe I can cause it again,” I smiled at him.
Finn groaned, his hips bucking up to make better contact and his hands gripping my waist.
“Does that feel good?” I whispered in his ear and he groaned again, louder.
He stared at my breasts as they moved in from of his face, then he would look up to stare into my eyes.
I wound harder and harder on him.
“Fuckin’ hell,” he grunted, as I started to move faster.
His tongue reached out and flicked across one of my nipples as they slid up and down in front of him with each of my movements.
“Are ya gonna cum dis way?” he finally broke free and panted, with wide eyes.
He got his answer fairly quickly. The excitement of him being there and the way he was looking at me, touching me with his tongue, the feeling of his dick now being hard underneath me...
“Shit,” I whispered, leaning forward and gripping his bare shoulders.
He moved me faster with his hands and I felt myself cum, right on top of his lap.
“Finn,” I gasped, my nails lightly scraping his skin.
He stood up, holding me and turned around. He dropped me onto the bed and started to take my pajama shorts off, ripping my panties off with them.
I looked him straight in the eyes.
They looked hungry but they also looked nervous.
He fumbled with the button on his jeans and they dropped to the floor. Discarding them and his shoes, he crawled up over me in only his boxer briefs and I moaned when I felt his dick brush across my completely bare pussy.
I arched my back up to him, as he reached me and lowered his face to mine.
“Ya sure?” he smiled, his tongue running across his lips “Dis is what ya want...Ya want me?”
“You know when I said that I thought I loved you?” I whispered, his fingers tracing my cheek.
“Mhm,” he grinned.
“I lied,” I smiled back at him “I know that I do.”
“Sucha ‘lil lya’,” he laughed, sliding his hands down my body achingly slow “One day, I’ll hafta punish ya fer dat.”
I knew he meant it and my mind started spinning with all the things that his darker, demon side could and would do to me.
“But not tonight, love,” he growled.
I reached up and grabbed the waistband of his underwear and he shimmied out of it.
His dick popped out and slid across my stomach. He was every bit as large as I already knew.
He flipped us again, so that I was on top, and then he sat up, his arms wrapped around me.
“Let’s try dat again,” he whispered in a deep voice “Only wit ma dick in ya.”
He lifted me a little by my waist and I let out a loud moan, as he slid himself up inside me and eased me back down.
“Ya ok?” he smirked, as his hands grabbed my breasts and squeezed them.
“Yes,” I gasped, as I started to wind my hips on top of him again.
“Dis feels much betta,” he grunted, his body moving in sync with mine.
He slid his thumb down to massage my clit and his eyes got so dark, so serious...It turned me on even more.
“Just like dat,” he threw his head back, as my rhythm increased “Fuckin’ shit, baby.”
This was happening.
Fuck.
This was happening.
He picked me up again and threw me down, much harder, onto the bed. He slid inside of me again and his hips started snapping against mine. Sweat was starting to slide down his temples and he bit down on his lower lip.
“Ya look so beautiful,” he managed to growl out, his whole body moving much faster above me.
I wanted to reply but he felt so good...I couldn’t think straight. Instead, I grabbed his face and pulled his lips to mine again.
He growled as he kissed me, one of his hands gripping my cheeks between his fingers. He sucked on my lip before it popped out of his mouth.
His pace increased again and he was slamming himself into me.
“Oh my god,” I panted, wrapping my legs around his waist.
“Ya feel so fuckin’ good,” he gasped “I can’t slow down.”
“Harder,” I whimpered.
He grinned and then his face grew stoic, sexy...
His hips snapped against me and I knew it wouldn’t be much longer.
“Like dat? Hard like dat?” he asked in a commanding voice.
Fuck, I couldn’t wait to be punished...
“Yes,” I squealed as he started thrusting against my g-spot “Oh, shit!”
“Ya gonna cum wit me?” he asked in the same voice.
I nodded, reaching up to kiss him one more time.
“Fuck,” he broke his mouth away and his hips jerked hard against me.
I felt my orgasm start to spasm around him and he brought his fingers down to rub across my clit again.
“Jus’ like dat,” he growled, before his hips bucked hard and he tensed up.
“Just like that,” I whimpered, letting him know I didn’t want him to move.
“Shit!” he yelled, as he snapped against me one more time.
“Finn!” I leaned up off the mattress, my teeth biting into his arm to keep from screaming too loud, as I spasmed all around him.
Once we both had stopped moving, he dropped down beside me.
His strong hand pulled me to face him and I giggled, again.
His finger reached up, patting me quickly on the nose, and his sweet grin spread across his face.
“Ya meant it?”
“Every single word,” I smiled, scooting closer to him.
He rolled on his back and I crawled closer, my head resting on his chest.
“Did you mean it?” I had to ask, as his fingers started combing through my hair.
“Ya damn right I did,” he chuckled, causing his chest to shake “Miz betta’ not call us out again..He might get more dan he bargained for.”
“What do you mean?” I raised my head up.
“He wants a show. We might just give da bastard one,” he laughed.

“Dope A-F” - 3/28-4/10 - “JFL & SPRING BREAK BITCH”
Time to hop right in. I was busy doing comedy/nothing at all over my spring break so I did not write at all. But it is time to get back to it baybees!
3/28
I had a couple of open mics to do this night. I was going to swing by and do Beans Bits and Brews at Crossroads hosted by Sarah Ahmed, and then afterwards head over to Penny Lane Pub. I figured I’d run a few jokes and a have a good time and hopefully feel better about my audition.
I headed to Crossroads right after work to meet up with Alida Harper. She had offered to help design me some business cards. It was super cool to be there for the design and she was definitely doing me a huge favor. They ended up looking amazing, and I am super grateful. I used to have business cards and I hated them. They were so lame and only one sided. So I splurged and went double sided. She also walked me through a bunch of new terms that I don’t remember but were cool to know in the moment.
Alex showed up and we started to hang. When Sarah got there we helped her unload her PA so she could set up. She then talked to me about how they were implementing a few content retrictions. She was worried about what people would think, but I told her it was her show so who gives a shit. It was a super fun time. I ordered a sandwich and Alex ate my chips because he is a garbage person (I had already had two desserts so I didn’t need to eat the chips). I then bought him ice cream because he was feeling a little wonky. We are pretty cute.
There were a ton of comics on the showcase I had never really seen before. Sarah is usually pretty good about putting new comics up. Some of them had pretty good sets, but the crowd seemed a little reserved. I was on the open mic which came on after the showcase. I was going up about 8th and was just ready to do my time.
By the time the open mic started the audience was not into it at all.  They were done. There was a group of hecklers outside and they were drunk and lame af. So it was just going to be a typical brutal open mic. As I am waiting for my turn to go up I get on fb and notice that one of my friends had unfriended me and I had no idea why. I feel bad about it, and legit as soon as I saw it they walked into Crossroads.
I’m not going to name who, but I went up to them shook their hand and asked them if they were mad at me. They explained about a situation that had happened and how they felt the community had reacted in a negative way. They lumped me in with that, and I apologized that’s how it felt and explained my side. We shook hands on good terms. It was positive. I was starting to feel like a magnet for drama, and I am trying to handle situations like this with as much care as I would at work. I feel good about how this worked out, but I think the friendship will need time to recover.
It was finally my turn to go up and I absolutely bombed. I notice one of the hecklers was someone who had done comedy before, and worked at an escape room. So I said I wish I could do an escape room where I can get away from her and her shitty friends. This made them finally leave and it got my biggest laugh of the set. The rest just felt like nothing. I did my jokes, and couldn’t get anything going. It was one of the worst sets I’ve had in a long time. Made me want to quit comedy. I’d give it an F. I get off stage and grab my stuff. I then head over to Penny Lane to try to get the taste of this set out of my mouth.
I get to Penny Lane and find out I am going up in a few. John Thomas, Anthony Thompson, Bryan Williams, and the new girl Stella are all hanging out. We started shooting the shit, and chilling in the back room. Anthony is busting balls a bit (we all are it Is the best part about comedy). Stella is new and doesn’t understand the relationships we all have right away. So I can tell that the way we are talking to each other is making her a bit uneasy.
Anthony has a moment where we are all being open and honest and there was a misunderstanding and then the rest of the night was weird. Nothing bad happened, there was no arguing, or anything at all. There was just this weird energy that thankfully got cleared up by the end of the night.
I go up and have a super fun set. I don’t run my JFL set and just do some newer stuff.  I was able to connect and have a blast for like seven minutes. It isn’t my best set by any means, but compared to Crossroads it is amazing. I’d give it a C.
I get off stage and the energy is still weird. Everybody else goes up and has rough/weird sets. I end up hanging with everyone in the back for like an extra 2 hours. It was super fun to just get to hang and have a good time. Even though the night ends a little weird (it all got cleared up, and wasn’t a big deal) it was one of my favorite nights of the week. I love nights when I get to stay out late and just shoot the shit. I love comedy so much. I then headed home and passed out. I was ready for this weekend.
3/29
I AM OFFICIALLY ON SPRING BREAK! I am off work and ready to get some sets in before my big day. So I hop in my car after work and drive up to DC. I park forever away and walk to Comedy Club DC at Club Heaven and Hell to get a set in. When I get there I realize I forgot to put money in the meter and quickly do it on my phone (I am still waiting to see if I got a ticket in the mail). I see the list when I get there and all the spots are full except for crazy late. I sign up and Tom Mango tells me that if I want to go earlier I’ll have to switch with someone.
I am officially bummed because I don’t want to ask people to switch with me, but I do have a show at Big Hunt ( I was a late addition to a showcase at Underground Comedy Festival). So I sit down and begin my wait.
The show starts and Tom has put on a Gumby costume and is yelling at the crowd to get into the show. It is insane. You can barely understand him, but he is yelling and getting people psyched. He then brings the host Reid Clark onstage and he has a good set. He then brings Tom up without his costume and Tom does about 20 minutes.
After him Reid brings up Tommy Taylor Jr who is also doing an audition for JFL. he works his five and does really well. During this set Tom comes to me and says I am next, I am super stoked and ready to go. After Tommy gets off I am ready and get brought up.
I go up and have a super fun set. I work part of my five and only do a little bit of crowd work. Everything is working, but there is one super drunk lady who is having a blast. The only problem is she is throwing off my timing because she keeps yelling super supportive shit. Which is a tough situation to be in. You can’t shit on her because you will lose the audience, but you also have to say something because it is screwing up my rhythm.
I keep powering through and get some huge laughs and an applause break. It is a great set that I definitely needed. I got confidence back in my material and I’d give this set a B+. I stuck around for a few more sets, and talked to some of the other comics. They all have good things to say. I thank Tom and Reid and head off to Big Hunt.
I meet up with my buddy Chris is who is also on the show at Big Hunt. We are both on this ticketed showcase but it is already starting late. There is a ton of comics so the vibe and energy is super fun. A lot I don’t know (since there are people from. out of town here).
The show finally starts and the crowd is ok but weird Everybody is doing pretty well, but no one is slaughtering yet. The crazy thing is while we are there Jeff Singer (booker for JFL) is in the audience. He shows up to hang with Mia Jackson (she got new faces the previous year). He watches a little over half of the show and you can tell people are treating this like they are getting a free Just for Laughs audition.
Chris and I don’t get an opportunity to go up before him because he and I both are near the end of ht show (I am closing it out). Chris goes up and has a really dope set. People are into it, and he is working some new and old. He had them eating out of his hands anti is always a blast to watch this dude work.
I kept hanging, but you could tell that the audience was getting more and more tired. Sami Sfeir goes up in front of me and does ok. The audience has pretty much checked out. I finally get called on stage and like 20 people leave. I’ve got an ok crowd left. I’m not mad at the people that left, and I just channel my energy to do something positive. I do my JFL set and get a great response for that room. I’m super proud of how I closed out. I know I am still working to gain respect in the scene and I just hope that doing well in these late night spots is getting seen.
Afterwards Chris and I head back to my car and drive to TJs. We are all chilling for a bit, but before I know it I have passed out on the couch. I was absolutely exhausted. Tomorrow was the big day and I needed the rest.
3/30
This is it. The big day. I’ve got my audition for Just For Laughs New Faces today. It has been the only thing on my mind for the last month. It has consumed me. I have done the best I could to not think about it, but there is only so much you can do when faced with a crazy opportunity (even though it is a long shot).
I wake up really late. I try to sleep in just so I can be well rested. After this Chris and I go to the mall. We both get some new clothes. I got a pair of New Balance and a black t shirt. I am officially ready for this show.
We head into town and get there at about 6:30. The first show starts at 7:30. Chris is on the first one and I am on the second. I start to get nervous, but it is a good nervous. This is it. This is an opportunity. It’s a pretty big one too. This could be life changing.
Chris finds out he is last on the first showcase, and he is not into it. Nobody wants to go last. The sweet spots are usually in the middle (but you have to assume Jeff Singer isn’t looking too much at audience response.) The show is packed, and the energy is electric. We were all nervous because we heard the audition show the night before was rough. Heard the crowd was weird and it wasn’t a lot of fun.
This crowd was completely different. Andrew Cook was hosting and from the get go the crowd was into it. He had a hot set and it seemed to just continue to be that way for the duration.
My buddy Dylan was next door hosting for Brendan Schaub so it was pretty cool to get to hang with him. He kept bouncing back and forth between the shows. Everybody is in the hall busting balls, and trying to not freak out. A lot of my friends were on these shows. Tim Miller, Umar Khan, Josh Kuderna, Natalie McGill, Lafayette Wright, and plenty of others.
Everybody is absolutely murdering. Tim Miller destroyed, Umar had a hot one, Josh killed, and Lafayette slayed. It was a blast. Then it was Chris’ turn. I could tell he was super nervous but after he got that first laugh he closed incredibly strong. Legit always amazed to see that dude work. He is an amazing comic.
So after that show Jeff talked to that group and they reset the room for the next show which was supposed to start at 10 and was supposed to be sold out. Neither of these were true. The show ended up getting started around 10:20 and was about 2/3 full. The energy was not dope for the second show and I found out I was going last. So I would be going up at the end of lightly attended late night show. I was super nervous.
I ended up pacing a lot during this show. I couldn’t even really focus on any one else’s set. No one was killing like they did on the first show, but not a ton were bombing either. It was a tougher room, and definitely was making us work. Some dope ass comics were on the lineup including some of my good friends like Naomi Karavani, Benjy Himmelfarb (hot set), Donnie Sengstack (killed), Ty Davis (solid set), and countless others. We could tell the show was going to be rough just because of how hard it was for Andrew Cook to get them going. It was the exact opposite of the first show.
The night is going on the crowd is getting worse and worse it feels like. I am trying to stay in good spirits, and making last minute adjustments to my set. I keep waiting for my spot but they added a couple of comics so it is coming even later. Dylan had to leave before it started which was a bummer, but I get it. He was super supportive and I love that dude. It is about 11:40 and I finally go up.
I go up and my first line doesn’t get much. I am just trying to win this crowd back. As I went on my rhythm was tight, and my cadence was there. I was having fun and the audience picked up on it.  I had one of the stronger sets of my showcase. I didn’t kill the hardest, but I’m hoping that Jeff Singer was able to discern where I went and coupled with how the crowd was give me a fair assessment. I closed really strong and all of my jokes got a laugh. It felt ok. I kind of blacked out in the middle of it. I remember doing ok, but other comics said I did really well, and I brought it to close it out. It felt good and it was such a relief to get it finished. I would give this set a B+.
After the show Jeff got us all on stage and talked to us about the process and thanked us. He gave us the whole spiel and asked if we had any questions. He then said he’d stick around to talk to people for a bit if we wanted to. I definitely wanted to talk and say thanks (hopefully make a good impression.)
So I waited for everybody to have their moment talking to him and I kind of chilled in the back. He saw me and told me to not be shy. He and I had a really nice conversation. He asked me how long I had been doing standup. He seemed surprised that I’d only been doing it 4 years. He gave me some compliments on my set and mentioned that I should probably move to NYC. I made him laugh a few times and we talked about the documentary about new faces on Amazon. I don’t want to get too in depth because I feel weird talking about it. I then mentioned I knew he had a lot of people to talk to and that I would see him soon. I could not have felt better about the conversation. I have no idea if I am going to get a call back. I doubt it, but only because of how many people tried out. I do know that I am on their radar. I am FB friends with him (sent him a message thanking him) and he knows who I am. This feels good. This feels very good.
Afterwards Chris and I head to Big Hunt to see Keaton Ray. We hang out and watch part of the show and shoot the shit. We talked about the show, and it is good to catch up with Keaton. After the hang we go our separate ways and Chris and I pig out at Denny’s. We then head back and I pass the hell out. It was finally done.
4/1
I took Sunday off to enjoy myself and relax, but I was back at it on Monday at The Southern. It wasn’t too crazy. It was one of the more poorly attended open mics there. There was about 16 comics and only 6 audience members.
The show started and people were not doing so hot. Honestly not a lot of people had good sets. There was a couple in the audience who had made “open mic bingo” where they were going to check off hacky things that the comics did. They weren’t dicks about it, but it was one of those things where you definitely did not want them to check anything off while you were on stage.
The comics gave it their best shot. A lot of bombs happened, but also Chris made people do at least one new joke. So this led to some productive sets. I went up around 8th or 9th. I had one of the better sets of the night. I did all new stuff, and riffed on the guy who brought the bingo. I asked what he did (travel agent) and was like I’ll be in tomorrow at your travel agency with travel agent bingo. It got a big laugh and I had some of the best responses of the night. I’d give this set a B. It was super dope and felt good.
The rest of the show went ok. Honestly it was just a race to the finish. I can’t remember any standout or super weird sets. Colby did a bit involved a tortilla chip. He has quite a few props in his act nowadays. We still have the newer comics coming out even though the shows haven’t been amazing and that’s a good sign. The scene is coming along but there is work to be done. It was also Colby’s birthday. He turned 21 so we decided to celebrate it.
A group of us went out to Applebees. It was super fun. We had a blast. It was Paige, Jake, Charles Bill, Sam Padgett, Colby, McCallie, Jared Berthelsen, JR, and Kenn. We had a blast. It was a super fun hang. Love the late night Applebees hangs.
As we were leaving McCallie made a comment about how we had had our dick problems in the past and he thinks it is because I went to VT. I know that he was just making a joke but we were outside and this seemed like a good time to actually air grievances. We went over the issues I had with him and his show. It was super productive. I had left the group chat with all the Charlottesville comics because I was told my advice was too intense and they wouldn’t tell if I was roasting/ or giving advice. So I took myself out of it and now let the new guys have to ask me for advice.
McCallie and I talked about this, and how Chris isn’t going to be the one giving advice because he already walked people through that (Kenn, Alex, Paige, and I). So now I help the way that Chris helped us. If it was too intense than I can’t help them. I give honest advice when it is necessary. Honestly the conversation went well. Paige jumped in and said a few things and I think the scene is better for it. They asked me to join the group chat back since I started it, and I decided that I think it would be better if all the new comics used it. Paige is still in there and I think it is his turn to kind of lead those guys. It was a good talk. I’ve had a few confrontations lately and I’m super over it. I’m glad they all ended well, but it is exhausting to be involved in this stuff. It happens because I am passionate, and really care more about comedy than I probably should.
After this I drove home to enjoy a nice night. I wasn’t feeling great, and I was exhausted. So I passed out immediately ready for the next day.
4/2
The next day since I was on Spring Break I helped my parents clean out their basement a little bit. I chilled with them, and hung out with my dog. It wasn’t too insane of a day. I was very excited though because Kenn Edwards was going to be hosting a show in Waynesboro. I hadn’t been to Waynesboro since Black Friday and hadn’t performed there in even longer.
Kenn sued to run a room out there before I started comedy. It was a local performance oasis called The Hot Spot. A lot of people who were my first friends in comedy got their starts there. It is where Paige, TJ, Kenn, and Chris all met. It is also where Paige did his first set. Apparently every show was super fun, and packed. They were doing not great jokes and still killing.  It is where they learned a lot, and the scene in Charlottesville/Harrisonburg/Waynesboro really started. It closed the month before I started doing comedy. I only heard stories about it, and am incredibly bummed I never got to perform there.
This was my chance. Kenn was going to have a comedy open mic outside of the old venue. He called it the Hot Squat and it was going to be BYOC (bring your own chair). The show was starting at six, it’d have no PA, and we had no idea if comics/audience would even come. It was a labor of love for Kenn, and he took the idea and ran with it,
When I got there I pulled out a paper jams mini PA. It was terrible, but I thought it’d be funny to perform with it. You’d hook it onto your belt and it’d make your voice a little louder, but it was mostly just a gag. Kenn and I went to grab some pizza at this place called Ciro’s and Paige met us there. We had such a good time reminiscing and talking about comedy.
When 6 o clock rolled around we checked and there was actually 5 people there who wanted to watch. We knew Alex, Padgett, and Charles Bill were also coming so we waited a while. Kenn poured himself some wine, I set up my camera, and hooked the PA on. Then we started the show once Padgett and Charles got there (Alex was going to be way later and Padgett’s gf Lucy was there too).
It was actually incredibly fun. Kenn had a blast hosting. It was so weird to be doing comedy and people were just driving by in the parking lot of this strip mall, and kids were coming out of ballet/karate. After Kenn it was my turn.
I went up and just read new jokes off of my phone. I didn’t have a great set, but people were laughing and the new stuff kind of worked. We had a dude come from the tanning place and light up a cigarette so I riffed about knowing how he was going to die. I’d give this set a C- in execution, but it was one of the most fun times I’ve ever had.
After me was Charles and he had fun too. His one liners got some big laughs, and Padgett followed him and got another dope response. We were all being weird and just having a wonderful time.
As soon as Alex got there it was his time to go up. He did some crowd work, and found out the PA would play songs. So he turned the music on and just kept doing his set. It was so incredibly dumb and perfect.
Then we closed the only way we could. With Paige Campbell. Paige did about 12 minutes and just was doing great. The PA stopped halfway through so he put it on the ground but kept holding the mic that wasn’t working up to his mouth. He killed a moth while on stage, and asked a kid who walked by if he liked comedy (the kid responded, “NO”) It was perfect. Kenn got back up and closed it out before we all headed to The Fishin Pig.
We all went to eat and shot the shit for a couple hours. The food and company were great. After everyone else left and they closed the restaurant Kenn, Paige, and I didn’t want to go home yet so we didn’t. We did an old tradition and just went to Wal-Mart and walked around making fun of shit. We did this for about an hour. We saw a copy of a boardgame called Waynesboropoly which is insane. We said out goodbyes and as I went home I realized this was one of the most fun days of comedy I have ever had. It made me reminisce from when I was jobless for 18 months staying up at Paige’s house all the time. Doing all of these late night hangs. Truly the best times in comedy even though we were terrible. A truly great night.
4/3
The next day I didn’t have much to do during the day. I came into town purely to do the open mic and grab my GoPro that I left at work. I got to town grabbed my camera and asked Beau Troxclair if he wanted to meet me for dinner. We decided on Burger Bach.
I love Beau. He is one of the best/funniest political comics I know. I hate most political comedy, but Beau is informative and funny. He is also just a great guy. We had a super long and fun conversation about everything from politics, to him moving (UK), to comedy, and so much more. I am really going to miss him. Thinking about people I respect, enjoy, and care about moving makes me realize that there isn’t much tying me down here. I have to keep affirming to myself that this is the year to move to make it.
After dinner I was able to talk him into going back to Home Sweet Home. I had asked to go up early, and he didn’t know if he was even going to perform. We got there and Jacob McFadden showed up and talked him into taking a spot. Jacob is another of my friends who is moving to greener pastures (PA outside of Philly). He was looking to hand over HSH and didn’t know who. So when Jason Kusterer walked up I told Jacob to ask him. Kusterer took it, and if nothing else I am excited because if he is running a bimonthly room it means I get to see Jason at least twice a month. I love that dude and he is genuinely funny. He took some time off, but he is back and really doing great.
The show started and Bryan Williams went up first. He had one of the better sets I had seen him have. There was a small audience and they were actually attentive which is super rare. He did well, and so did Beau. I was up third and rearing to go. While waiting I threw pieces of paper off the balcony at Mu Cuzzo. He looked up and thought someone across the bar had done it and looked ready to fight. I finally got his attention and he about died laughing. Such a fun moment.
I went up and had a pretty hot set. I did mostly new stuff and a little crowd work. Most worked. I did a joke about rape and the moment I started it a table of five SJW looking ladies kept looking at each other waiting to get pissed out. The joke worked and I saw them nod in approval which is exactly what I want. It got laughs and wasn't offensive. I’d give this set a B-. Afterwards I jetted off to be with my family/dog. It was a great night.
4/5
On Friday I was booked in Petersburg for Wabi Sabi. I usually have a super fun time at this show and looking at the lineup I was really excited for how it was going to go. It was me, Kenny, Jason, Dylan Vattelana, Patrick Buhse, James Paulk, Mu Cuzzo, Anthony Thompson, and Klingman. Bryan Williams came to hang out. I was feeling a little weird and out of it, but I was ready for the show.
I knew I wasn’t going to be able to stick around for the whole show due to some obligations I had, but I wanted to stick around for as long as I could. Klingman went up first and did pretty well. They seemed to be into it, and that put me in a good mood. After him was Dylan who had another fine set. He is one of my favorite comics and for good reason. He always has new shit, and is an excellent joke writer.
After him was Buhse, and he did ok. He lost them towards the end, but that happens in this room. It felt weird and wasn’t super packed and I was up next. So I went up with newer stuff I wanted to work on.
I jumped into some crowd work to try to wake them up. It was kind of dirty and about choking people in bed. I riffed off of a little person joke that Buhse did, and that went well. I got some really really big pops in the first ten minutes. Like I had to work them back from nothing and that was nice to do. Then I tried out this joke about “incest porn” and I have never lost an audition so fast. Like it got absolutely nothing. Sucked all of the energy out of the room. I started laughing on stage it was so funny to see faces go from pure joy to terror. I fused my last three minutes to dig out of a hole again and end on an ok laugh. So crazy how quick shows can turn. I could have done better, but the first 10 was super strong, and I learned a lot so I’d give this a C+/B-.
I stuck around and watched a few more sets. Mu Cuzzo murdered. He had the set of the night. He has infectious energy and his writing and definitely coming along. One of my favorite dudes in comedy right now to watch and hang with. Then Anthony had a good set too afterwards. So glad he is back in the scene. He is a killer, and he just has to come out to keep showing people that.
After this I said thank you, grabbed my chicken tenders and calamari, and headed out. Definitely a fun night.
4/6
The next night I got to head up to Jammin Java in Vienna for the Later Late Show hosted by Ben Daniels. It was the 7th anniversary show, and I was beyond excited for it. This is one of the best venues to work, and there is always as super dope crowd into the show. No matter how late it is (10ish start time.)
I got up there and decided to put on my new David Bowie Vans. I had picked them up the day before and was dying for a place to wear them. The 7 year anniversary show felt like the right place. I get there and walk in to talk to Ben. We talk about comedy and how he had been while the band (yes there is a band on stage during this show) tunes up on stage.
My buddy Kevin Skiffington shows up as well. Then a bunch of my favorites make it out to perform. Ian Salyers (Baltimore), Martin Phillips, TJ Ferguson, Natalie McGill, Danny Charnley, and Jason Weems were also on the show. We are all hanging out and riffing in the back and it is legit one of the best hangs I have had in a while.
When the show starts it gets off on the right foot. I am bouncing back and forth between the green room and the stage trying to get pictures of everybody performing. Everybody is doing dope. Ben starts off super strong, and he is followed by Danny Charnley. Then the audience got some good sets from Natalie, Ian, and Martin. Then TJ went up before me and killed super hard. I was nervous following him. I wanted to get the audience back on my energy, but I also might have needed to just ride the wave that TJ started.
I went up and I have a super hot one. I started out a little weird. I do some crowd work, and ask people how they are doing. I have some fun back and forth and then go into my material and it is murdering. For the first ten minutes I am on a crazy high. I get the light right when I finish one joke that destroys. So I tell the audience that I should probably end there, but I won’t. I tell them if the next joke bombs just remember the last one and how funny I was. I then do another joke about my dad and it kills. I’d give this set an A from top to bottom. I loved it.
After this I go in the green room and shoot the shit during Weems set. He is murdering and doing no material. He is super good at crowd work, and his energy rules. Rahmein showed up to watch a little and hang out as well. When the show ended Ben brought a cake on stage and blew out some candles. I was super glad to be apart of this.
I had already had Mac and cheese for my dinner but Was so happy I saved room for dessert. Nothing made me happier than eating cake with my hands with like 6 other comics. It was beautiful. It was super late and time to go home, but I was so happy to be a part of this amazing show.
4/9
I had a few days off for personal reasons and was back at it on Tuesday. It was time to get a couple mics in. I love Tuesday night in Richmond. I love being able to go up multiple times in a. night. It is the best feeling in the world. Even if you are bombing your ass off all night long.
The first place I was going to do time was at Mojos. Buhse was hosting and he was cool enough to let me go first. I am hanging at the bar talking to the b bartender and waiting for more comics to show up. It looks like it is going to be a super light crowd.
Some more comics show up, but there is still basically no audience. I realize this is going to be one of those mics where it is only disinterested comics. I always have to work hard in this room. This is because I want to actually work on material, while I feel like this room is suited for people who want to play to the back of the room (which is fine, but at this point in my development isn’t super productive.)
I am enjoying a pretty good hang Anthony and Jordan Halpern show up. The very funny and sweet Jason Kusterer shows up. Along with a few others. There’s a newer comic named Ryan who is originally from the UK. He is a great hang. We had a blast talking about how we got into comedy, how he got here, and what we grew up watching that influenced us.
The show is most definitely going to be comic appreciation night so I tell myself I am just going to be doing newer stuff, or stuff that just isn’t finished. Buhse goes up and is getting nothing. So you know it is going to be shitty. He is working out some stuff, and honestly has a fun set, but the comics are too focused on their own shit to enjoy what is happening.
I go up and it is the same. I am staring at like 15 people who have been doing comedy like 6 months and a handful of older guys like me. I stick to my material and don’t resort to crowd work (because that doesn’t help my growth at all). I get a couple of laughs at some newer lines and act out. All of this stuff is too wordy and I am just not able to riff it out on stage because the energy is weird. I’d give this set a D but I definitely learned a lot and was ready to apply it at the next mic at Fallout.
I tell Kusterer I can give him a ride there and back to his house since he walked. We have a fun drive just talking comedy and catching up. He is a dude that legit just needs to keep going out. He loves comedy so much, and it really shows. He took time off for personal reasons, but honestly dude’s like him and Anthony being back is huge for the scene. They need more leadership in the scene since a lot of people have moved or are about to.
We get to Fallout and I had texted Jesse Jarvis asking him to put us up near each other since I had a long trip home.  He obliged us and when we got there Jesse Pearlstein was gong up and then it’d be me followed by Kusterer.
The crowd was actually pretty dope. There was only a handful of comics but there was about 15 audience members who were actually turning into the show. Which is amazing. When Fallout is good it is freaking excellent.
Pearlstein does ok and then it is my turn. I go up and I have an absolute blast. I tried a brand new joke about the Charlottesville March and UVA winning the national title. I doubt it will work everywhere, but it definitely worked there. It got me huge laugh up top, and then I went into newer stuff. Everything was working. I riffed some new lines and was able to get the ball rolling. I”d give this set a solid B/B+. It was awesome to see some of the adjustments I made from Mojos actually pay off at the second mic.
After I got off stage Kusterer went up. He did pretty well. He was working out this really funny x and Y chromosome bit. He lost them a few times and he wasn’t happy with how he did. He did new stuff though, and Jarvis and I were able to give him some productive notes and he seemed stoked to do it.
After this we headed to my car and then I drove him home. It was a super fun and dope night. I love that dude. I showed him this great app I’ve been using that I heard about from Dom Grayer called the One Note App. It is a great cloud based organizational tool that is really changing the game for me.
We both said goodbye, and we saw Pat Nowaczyk walking down the road so we just followed him to Kusterer and Pat’s place. I dipped out and headed home ready for the mics the next day.
4/10
The next night I had a stupid long day at work. I honestly have been having one of the roughest weeks of all time. It is starting to really drain me. I soldier on and am ready to do The Funny Bone open mic and McCormacks (I was way too emotionally and physically tired to get to Nuevo Mexico even though that is a great work out room).
I also had a stressful day because a friend of mine on FB and I had a rough interaction. I didn’t think much of it until several other comedians reached out to me and were making a bigger deal out of it than I thought. So that put me in a rough headspace. The post was about people choosing to work comedy clubs that book certain individuals (Louis CK, and TJ Miller) being shitty. Now I am someone who does work those clubs, but I assumed it was just a general statement. Until other people led me to believe otherwise. I decided to not get in an argument online or in DMs because that is dumb. I figured they’re my friend and I’ll just talk to them about it in person.
I headed to the Funny Bone in time to sign up. I find out I am going first and I get caught up with Liz Carr. Jason Kusterer and Tom Hall show up to get some mic time so it is obviously going to be a fun night. A bunch of my other friends show up too. Mu Cuzzo and his gf Paula were there.  Along with Ryan, Nick Deez, Torrey Huggins, Jayron, Dylan Vattelana, Melissa (his gf), and some others. It was a super fun hang, but it was also definitely the kind of night where it was going to be mostly comics.
I talked to the gm about how the week went with Louis CK and Tracy Morgan (this is a huge week for them. They sold out every show in a week which is nuts). After getting the scoop on that I started to get my set together. I decided to do new again.
I go up and it is not my best set. I reword stuff and a lot of it wasn’t working. It was mostly comics so I couldn’t connect, and that was ok. I made sure I did what I wanted to on stage, and was able to work on some timing things. Not a great set. I’d give it a D-. But it was definitely an amazing learning experience.
I hang for a while and watch my friends go up. Kusterer, Dylan, and Mu all do pretty well. I love all their new stuff, and Kusterer’s commitment to yelling even if the audience isn’t there for it. I need to get over my own insecurities and practice the way I perform.
After this I drove to McCormacks and luckily found out I was going to be going up first again. Bert, Bryan, John Marg Castagne, Anthony, and everybody from the Funny Bone ended up showing up as well. Jarvis was in a good mood and we actually had a little audience.  Marg and I catch up on some Charlottesville comedy gossip, and talk about not getting to do The Southern Monday.
Jarvis goes up and does pretty well and it is my turn to follow, and I end up doing really well. All the stuff I did earlier that didn’t work worked tonight. I was pleased with how most of it went, and I did some different bits than earlier. I love seeing these jokes grow. It’d be amazing if jokes were finished the moment they were written, but honestly it wouldn’t be as satisfying if it wasn’t so trying.  I’d give this set a C+. Not everything hit, but I connected and set the show in the right direction.
After I got off stage I saw my friend who posted on FB. We had a really nice and civilized talk. Even though we disagree on a lot of stuff it was super cathartic to have a reasonable and civil conversation. This is how these talks should go. In person where you have to look the person in the eye, and not on a computer. We ended things on a great note, and they explained the personal reasons for why they felt the way they do. I respect this person and they respect me and that is why we could have a talk like that.
After this I watched a few other people perform including Torrey Huggins who has a GREAT joke/premise about black school shooters. It was a great note to leave out on. I said thanks to Jarvis and headed to my car and talked to Castagne a bit. Gave him a hug and headed home.
HOLY SHIT LAYDEES! I did it. I really thought I wasn’t going to but I did. When I had spring break I never thought I’d finish this blog. Especially when I had 4 shows the last two days. I did it though. I found a way. I won’t ever let this happen again (JK this will happen very soon.) I love you all so much and thanks for the support. Keep reading and I’ll keep loving you! xoxoxo

They say that your heart never forgets your first love and I know that to be true. For a fact. No question.
When I was sixteen years old, I fell head over heels for a sweet, cute, wrestling fanatic named Sami Zayn.
We did everything together. He treated me like I was a princess, even back then. We went to prom together, spent our summers together, went to wrestling shows together and perhaps most importantly, we lost our virginity to each other.
I remember not even being scared. He was almost hyperventilating as he hovered above me, his hands shaking as he put on the condom, but I wasn’t scared for a second. He was everything in the world to me, so losing my virginity to my best friend just seemed right.
I don’t want to mess this up.
You won’t, Sami. I promise.
Only he did mess it up.
Several years later he started training heavily at a wrestling school and then went on a tour with his first promotion. Days apart turned into weeks. The phone calls got more and more hurried. We talked less and less about anything but wrestling. He was so focused, it was all he could think about.
I was training on my own at the school where he started out. My dreams of being a wrestler were just as finite and real as his but I always made time for him.
Finally, I had enough.
With one phone call, we got in a massive argument about his desire to choose wrestling over me. He basically said he didn’t have a choice, wrestling was his life. I felt like the wind had been knocked out of me. I cried and cried; he tried to comfort me but eventually I hung up on him.
I watched his continued success while I trained for my own. Every time I saw him on tv, my heart broke all over again. I was so happy he was living his dreams but I was so angry that I couldn’t be a part of them. Why wasn’t I one of his dreams anymore?
I had finally made it to NXT. Ecstatic didn’t even cover it. I had worked my ass of to be there and Hunter himself had hand picked me. I couldn’t ask for higher praise than to be one of Hunter’s kids.
Over the years, I had made lots of friends in the wrestling business. One of them being Seth Rollins. We started out talking on Twitter, oddly enough, but he had really been a big help in getting me the opportunity to go in front of Hunter and the rest of the NXT trainers.
“What do you think?” Seth walked up behind me, as I stood in the gym staring at it like it was the Taj Mahal or something.
“I’m scared,” I laughed nervously “Petrified…that I’m gonna screw this up.”
“You won’t,” he patted me on the shoulder “You got your training in, you wanna come over and hang out with some of the guys?”
Lots of wrestlers had apartments near the training facilities. Some of them even shared them, using them at different times.
“Yeah,” I sighed hesitantly “Sure.”
The minute I walked into Seth’s apartment, I wanted to run out.
Sitting on the couch, wedged between Xavier and Roman…was Sami.
They were caught up in a taping for Up Up Down Down. Seth pressed a finger to his lips and then leaned over to me.
“It’s almost over.”
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. My eyes glued to the redhead. His tongue was creeping ever so slightly out of the corner of his lips as he concentrated on the game.
I silently congratulated myself on wearing something half way decent. I had on a pretty sundress and had managed to curl my hair in the less than large dressing area I had been given at the gym.
Finally, Sami threw his hands up in defeat and Roman laughed in victory.
Xavier started to wrap up the video and before long they were done.
Seth stepped into the room and picked up some empty beer bottles, just out of screen.
“You guys are so fucking messy,” he grumbled.
“We’re men, Seth!” Roman stood up “It’s what we do.”
“You guys met, Y/N yet? She’s part of the latest draft to NXT.”
It was only then that Sami looked up from his phone and his eyes froze on me.
“Nice to meet you guys,” I smiled.
Xavier and Roman both walked to greet me, before going into the kitchen for more beer.
Sami sat staring.
“Sami,” I finally spoke “It’s uh, it’s good to see you.”
“Yeah,” he stood up.
“I didn’t know you were going to be here,” I whispered as he got closer to me.
He reached out his hand and brushed the back of it down my cheek, a little smile turning up on his face. His touch on my skin felt like fire.
“You uh, you look beautiful,” he whispered back.
“Thank you,” I felt my cheeks blushing “Long time no see.”
“Too long,” he shook his head “Way to long.”
I fidgeted nervously under his gaze.
“Sami,” I laughed “Stop staring at me like that.”
“I can’t,” his tongue licked his lower lip “I don’t want to.”
“Sami, I…”
Before I got the words out, his hands took my face firmly and his mouth pressed against mine. I felt myself gasp but then I relaxed into the familiarity of his touch. He tasted like the beer he had just drank, as his tongue plunged deeper against mine. The room felt like it was spinning as each kiss turned into another, then another. I could hear his breathing reverberating loudly in my ears, needy and longing.
Finally, he pulled his lips away.
“Sami,” I shook my head “You shouldn’t have done that.”
“I know,” he kept his eyes glued to mine “I shouldn’t do a lot of things. Like jump off ladders or get put through tables or…leaving you in the first place.”
“Sami, I don’t want to talk about it,” I felt tears starting to form “I haven’t talked to you in years….”
“And then you show up here,” he took my arms in his hands “Looking so grown up and so beautiful…And I feel like the biggest idiot in the world because I tried to find you...I tried to call you…And I just gave up. I gave up on you, on us.”
“That was a long time ago, Sami,” I shook my head “We’ve both moved on…”
“I haven’t,” he answered quickly, his thumbs rubbing my arms “I think about you all the time.”
I couldn’t hide the look on my face.
“Me too,” I sighed “But, that part of our lives is over and…”
“Go out with me,” he interrupted me “Just one date.”
“What?” I laughed, his hands letting go of me.
“Tonight,” he urged “I was supposed to hang here with the guys but let’s just go. Anywhere you want.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” I reached for my purse where I had sat it on a table “I probably need to just leave.”
I got the door halfway open before his hand came up beside me and grabbed it.
“Please?”
I heard the pleading in his voice as it was about to crack.
“Sami,” I whispered, leaning backwards against his chest.
I couldn’t see him but I could feel his warm breath against my ear.
“Please?”
I sank closer to his chest and his hand let go of the door, wrapping softly around my waist.
“Just one date,” he sighed “Just give me one chance.”
“Fine,” I managed to speak “Seth knows where I’m staying. I’ll see you at eight.”
I pulled the door back open and left as quickly as I could.
I stared at myself a hundred times in the mirror in my hotel room. I had tried on everything I had brought twice. I had also contemplated several times on backing out.
I knew if I went on this date, I would be hooked again. I had been trying for years to find a guy like Sami. I compared every man I was with to him. Nobody ever measured up. Not even close.
I smoothed the material of my green dress. It was pretty. It was also one of Sami’s favorite colors. At least it was the last time I knew him. Although today, it had felt like nothing had changed.
I was startled out of my thoughts by the knock on the door. I took in a deep breath and moved toward it.
On the other side, I found Sami dressed in a dress shirt and jeans. He looked adorable and I silently cursed him for it.
“Hey,” he smiled.
“Hey,” I managed to breathe out.
“You still like Thai food?”
“Yeah,” I nodded “Still my favorite.”
“Then let’s go,” he held his arm out to me and I cautiously took it.
Dinner went well, although uneventful. We talked about wrestling, about our families, about people we went to high school with. Anything and everything but the elephant in the room. The way we broke up.
After dinner, he took me back and as we walked down the hall, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I inserted the key in the door and turned to him.
“I think you should come in. There’s something we need to talk about.”
He knew right away. He nodded, following me inside.
Sami sat down on a chair by the window and propped his elbows on his knees, clenching his eyes shut tightly for a second.
“The last time I ever spoke to you was on the phone,” I started “You broke up with me on the phone.”
“I was twenty one,“ he stood up “And stupid! I thought you’d come back…You never did.”
“I thought you would come back…But you forgot about me,” I whispered as my fingers already were wiping at tears.
“I never forgot you,” he looked angry “Never. I guess I thought that somewhere down the line, once I got my career going, that we would…We would figure it all out.”
“You were the only man I ever loved Sami,” I raised my voice “You were my best friend and then one day, you were just gone from my life!”
He opened his mouth to speak but I wouldn’t let him.
“You traveled around the world, meeting new people, seeing new things! I stayed in Canada. I was all alone and all I had was going to the gym every day and missing you! I missed you for so long…It hurt so bad…”
My voice became nothing but a whisper as I sat down on the bed.
“It hurt so bad to know that you didn’t even look for me. Not even when you came home…”
“I was never home,” he sank down beside me “I never came home and when I did, it was for like a day and I would ask about you. I would ask my parents where you were and they said you were training and you seemed happy and…”
“And what? That was reason enough to ignore me?” I stared at him, with tears streaming down my face.
“No,” he brushed my hair behind my ear “I just didn’t want to ruin things for you.”
“Bullshit,” I spat at him.
“I was fucking scared, ok?” he stood up and started to pace “I knew I had screwed things up with you really bad and I figured you didn’t want to see me.”
“Why would I ever not want to see you?!” I stood up “For God’s sake Sami, I love you!”
I gasped, capping my hand over my mouth. That had just slipped out. There was no taking it back.
“You love me?” he moved closer.
“I didn’t mean,” I shook my head slowly.
“I love you,” he said hoarsely, pressing our foreheads together.
I sniffed back tears, our faces so close.
“I don’t want to love you,” I sobbed “I want to be mad at you.”
“You can be mad at me,” he whispered “I deserve it.”
I raised my hands up, sliding them across his beard and cupping his face.
“I deserve you to hate me,” he continued “But if you say you love me again…”
“I love you Sami,” I managed to get out.
“I never stopped,” he brought his mouth to mine.
My fingers scratched at his beard as our kisses deepened again.
“I missed you,” he breathed into my mouth “I thought you’d never want to see me again.”
“I didn’t,” I gasped “Because I knew it would hurt.”
“Does it hurt?” he nipped at my lower lip with a light kiss.
“No,” I shook my head.
My hands went to the buttons of his shirt and he moaned softly.
“You sure about this?” he gasped, as I pushed it off his shoulders.
“Are you?” I looked up into his eyes.
His hands immediately reached around to the zipper of my dress. It fell around my feet and I kicked it aside. I slowly unhooked my bra and slid it off. His eyes grew wide for a second, before he started working on his belt. Before long, we were both naked in front of each other. It felt just as natural as it had all those years ago.
He picked me up, legs tightly around his waist and carried me back to the bed. Our mouths never parting.
Sami laid me softly on my back and then climbed over me. His mouth went to my throat and he kissed small, frequent kisses down the side of it.
“Please don’t let this be a dream,” he moaned against my skin.
I ran my fingers through his hair as he moved down to the base of my throat. Then he raised up to look into my eyes.
“I promise you,” he whispered breathlessly “I will never hurt you again…You believe me?”
His eyes. Those damn beautiful eyes.
“I believe you,” I nodded, bringing his lips to mine.
He lightly kissed me, raising up to kiss my forehead.
Sami slowly positioned his hips between my thighs, his hands roaming softly up and down my body. He eased into me slowly and we both moaned at exactly the same time. It felt like coming home, so familiar but also so exciting because we had been deprived for so long.
“Sami,” I gripped his shoulders as he lowered back down over me.
He smiled, his hands resting on either side of my head.
“Baby,” I finally breathed out.
He picked up his pace a little.
“My sweet girl,” he laughed nervously “You’re still the most perfect girl I’ve ever seen.”
I hooked one leg around his waist as I felt him start to go deeper inside me.
“Sami, don’t stop,” I whispered, my fingers grasping his shoulders tighter.
“I’m not, baby,” he kissed me quickly on the lips “If I could stay here with you forever, I would.”
I felt him brushing against my g-spot and I dug my heel into his muscular back.
“Right there?” he whispered, a pleased smile curving on his perfect face.
I nodded, pulling his mouth down to mine. His lips moved to kissing a trail down my chin and then onto my throat.
His mouth broke away, as I felt him twitch inside me.
“Shit,” he groaned, trying his best to hold back for me.
“It’s ok,” I gasped, as I felt my orgasm start to pulse.
He slowed his thrusts, as his hips snapped against mine and he released inside me as I came completely undone beneath him.
He stilled over me, as both our bodies calmed down.
“It was better than I remembered,” I finally broke the silence.
He laughed, pulling out of me and rolling onto the bed. His arm immediately jutted out to pull me onto his chest. He was holding me so tight, I could barely breathe.
We fell back into our relationship fairly well. We had been twenty one when things ended but despite the fact we had aged separately, we still seemed to fit together.
Everything was going great.. When things go that good, that’s when I start to worry.
I didn’t have to worry long.
I had moved into Sami’s house after a few months and I knew marriage wouldn’t be that far away.
I had been a breakout in NXT and made it to the main Raw roster. I was incredibly relieved because it meant more time with Sami and we could always travel together.
I made numerous friends on the rosters, especially Kevin and Finn. They were such a huge part of Sami’s wrestling years and it was nice to get to know them.
Then. I missed my period.
It wasn’t that unusual for me. A few days or even a week.
But this went on for over a month.
I started feeling slightly nauseas and just…weird.
I requested no in ring competition because I wasn’t feeling well. Sami just thought I had the flu or something.
At first, I didn’t tell him. He was finally getting a big push in a feud with Seth and I didn’t want to distract him.
However, as the days ticked by I knew I needed to let him in on what was going on with me.
We got back to the hotel late one night after he had an amazing win over Seth. He was riding on cloud nine and I was about to knock him barreling off it.
“I’m so proud of you, baby,” I hugged him after he continued to gush about the match.
“I think I’m finally hitting my stride on the main roster,” he grinned “And you have that awesome feud with Charlotte that’s building.”
I wanted to cry. I was finally getting a feud with the women’s champion and if I was pregnant, that was all gone. My dream of going for the title, gone just like that. Not to mention, I was afraid of Sami’s reaction.
“Yeah, it’s really great,” I forced a smile.
“What’s wrong, baby?” he made me sit down on the bed and ran his hand up my bare arm.
“Sami, we need to talk…”
His eyes immediately filled with fear and I knew he was thinking the worst.
“I love you,” I began “I love you so much and I don’t want to do anything that would…”
“Are you leaving me?” he deadpanned.
“What?” I laughed “No, of course not. Why would you think something like that?”
His eyes fell to the mattress and he took hold of my hand.
“You’re just acting so serious,” he let out a sigh “What’s wrong?”
“Sami, I,” I was trying to think of the right thing to say.
He squeezed my hand.
“You can tell me anything, baby. You know that.”
“Sami, I think I’m pregnant,” I looked up at him.
I was expecting a frown, anger, something negative. Instead, I got a little smile that curved on his lips and his eyes lit up a little.
“Really?” he laughed happily.
“Well, I haven’t taken the test yet,” I reached for my purse “But I bought one and I thought you could sit with me…I’m scared.”
He reached out and pulled my head close to him, kissing my temple.
“Don’t be scared. I’m right here. Whatever that test says, we’ll be good, ok?”
I nodded.
A few minutes later, I went back into the bathroom to check the little stick that was going to decide the rest of my life.
“What’s it say?” Sami walked in and leaned against the doorway.
“Pregnant,” I answered, still holding the stick in my hands.
“Are you serious?” Sami picked me up and spun me around “We’re gonna have a baby?”
I nodded but I was already crying.
“What?” he put me down, his hands gripping my face “You’re not happy?”
“No, I am, I am,” I whispered hoarsely “It’s just…What about my job? I can’t wrestle. I can’t have my feud with Charlotte or anyone else….I won’t have a job at all, Sami! What am I gonna do?”
The realization set in that without being able to wrestle, what would I do? Wrestling was all I knew.
“Hey,” he pulled me close to him “We’ll figure all that out, ok? Right now, let’s just be happy.”
“I am,” I nodded, muffled against his shoulder.
He scooped me up in his arms and carried me back to the bed. I lay down, cuddled against his side.
His fingers laced with mine and a little smile formed on his lips.
“What?” I laughed.
“You wanna marry me?”
“Seriously?” I sat up.
“Yeah,” he sat up beside me “I mean I was going to ask you on New Year’s but now seems like a good time.”
He chuckled.
“You were?” I felt myself start to cry again.
The hormones had started.
“Of course,” his hand stroked my cheek “Baby, you’ve always been the only girl for me. I’m just grateful I got a second chance.”
“So you’re not marrying me because you knocked me up?” I kidded at him.
“No,” he laughed “Although, I think you’re even sexier now.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Mhm,” he covered my lips with his.
I explained everything to Hunter and Steph a few days later. They were surprisingly ecstatic for us. I was immediately offered a job with Creative until I was ready to go back to wrestling.
“Told you it would all work out,” Sami cuddled me in the hallway, dressed for his match.
“You think you know everything, don’t you Sami Zayn?” I wrapped my arms tighter around him.
“I know that I am the happiest man in the world tonight,” he brushed my hair out of my eyes “I have a beautiful fiancé, a baby on the way and tonight, I become Universal Champion.”
“You didn’t tell me!” I squealed.
“I’ve got to have some surprises too,” he laughed, kissing me on the nose just before his music hit.
I watched him rush out, for the match of his career and wrapped my arms around myself.
First loves are never forgotten and sometimes, if you’re lucky…You have a chance to make everything right.

SmackDown on Fox Episode #24 SmackDown Episode # 1,073 Orlando, FL – WWE Performance Center 3/13/20 The show opens with Triple H up on the perch welcoming us to the first of who knows how many shows WWE will be doing from the Performance Center, he then goes on to tell us about the Performance Center. Triple H hopes that this show will help take people’s minds away from all the craziness that is happening in the world for a couple of hours. Triple H then welcomes us to SmackDown and the camera pans over to show that there are no fans in attendance.  Sasha Banks & Bayley make their way to the ring and we see that Triple H has joined Michael Cole on commentary. Sasha and Bayley talk about how they made the PC and thus this is their house, they then question Michael Cole as to where Paige was since she was supposed to confront them tonight and he tells them that she had travel issues.  Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross come out and Alexa says that they called out the Kabuki Warriors last week and the only response they got back was some weird tweets. Alexa says that the Kabuki Warriors know they want the titles and that’s why they refuse to come to SmackDown. Alexa says that if Sasha and Bayley are done talking trash then they can have a match right now and that leads to our first match of the night. Match #1: Boss ‘n Hug Connection vs Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross Bayley and Nikki start the match with a lockup and Nikki drives Bayley back into the babyface corner and tags in Alexa. Alexa takes Bayley down and hits her with the rolling double knee drop and then tags Nikki back in who hits a dropkick on Bayley and Bayley quickly scurries to the corner as Nikki tags Alexa right back in. Nikki hits Bayley with an avalanche in the corner and then Alexa hits the quick stop slap. Alexa goes up top but Sasha pulls Bayley out of the ring before Alexa is able to do anything. Nikki runs around the ring and then leaps off the ring steps taking Sasha down with a crossbody and then Alexa hits Bayley with a baseball slide and the babyfaces are in full control as we go to break.  We come back from break and Bayley has taken control of Alexa as she has her in the corner stomping a mudhole in her. Bayley drags Alexa into the heel corner and tags in Sasha and they continue to beat Alexa down. Alexa blocks a hip toss attempt and turns it into a pinfall combination but only gets a 2 count. Alexa gives the sweet innocent angel face and then blocks a punch from Sasha and hits her with a right hand of her own. Alexa takes Sasha down with a flying head scissors that sends Sasha into the corner and then charges at her, but Sasha grabs her and throws her face-first into the middle turnbuckle and then follows up by hitting the double knees in the corner which gets a 2 count.  Sasha tags in Bayley and they cross the arms of Alexa and send her into the corner. Bayley chokes Alexa across the middle rope and then Sasha gets a cheap kick in from the apron. Bayley sends Alexa back into the heel corner while taunting Nikki and then tags in Sasha. Bayley whips Sasha in Alexa’s direction and Sasha mocks Alexa by doing the quick stop slap to her. Alexa goes for a schoolgirl pin out of nowhere but it only gets a 2 count and she is taken right back down with a dropkick. Nikki is clapping her hands to try and get the non-existent crowd fired up for Alexa. Sasha locks in a chin lock on Alexa and then transitions it into a surfboard, Alexa gets to her feet and throws Sasha off of her only for Sasha to knock her right back down.  Sasha tags Bayley back in and then holds Alexa so Bayley can connect with a blow to the mid-section. Bayley tries to ground Alexa again but she fights out of it so Bayley sends her back into the corner and tags Sasha back in. Alexa fights her way out of the corner and then avoids the running double knees and she is finally able to make the hot tag to Nikki. Nikki hits the avalanche in the corner and then bulldogs Sasha out of the corner and then knocks Sasha off the apron. Nikki goes for a tornado DDT, but Sasha throws her off and goes for a Meteora but Nikki avoids it and turns it into a sunset flip for a 2 count. Nikki keeps trying different pinning combinations, but Sasha continues to kick out. Nikki sends Sasha into the corner and charges at her, but Sasha backdrops her out to the apron only for Nikki to hit her with a dropkick from the apron through the ropes and then goes up top and hits her with a crossbody which gets a 2 count as Bayley breaks up the pin. Alexa comes in and takes Bayley down and Bayley acts like her eye is injured which distracts the referee long enough for Asuka to come out of nowhere and drive Alexa back first into the edge of the ring. Asuka dances on the ramp while back in the ring Sasha locks in the Bank Statement on Nikki which leads to Nikki tapping out.    Winners: Boss ‘n Hug Connection via Submission   Match Rating: **½ This was a nice way to kick off a very unique and surreal episode of SmackDown as these four women put on a good match despite having to be the first ones of the night to wrestle in a match without an audience. I liked how Bayley and Sasha made up for there being no crowd by interacting with Cole and Triple H in their pre-match promo. I did get a nice laugh anytime they would try to do the usual crowd interactions like Nikki trying to get the crowd behind Alexa so she can fight her way out of a hold. It looks like Kabuki Warriors vs Bliss & Cross is indeed going to be happening (that is if WrestleMania even happens) as we finally got a response from the champions in the form of Asuka attacking Alexa during the match. It will be interesting to see if they add a third or fourth team to the match like has been rumored. I do wonder what the plan was for Paige had she made it to SmackDown this week to confront Bayley and Sasha.   We come back from commercial and see a video recap of the Goldberg and Roman Reigns confrontation from two weeks ago.  Michael Cole is in the ring as he is set to interview Roman Reigns. Cole asks Reigns about how weird it was to come out without an audience and Reigns says they all of the WWE superstars live off the reactions of the crowd and making them cheer or boo so it was weird, but he is happy to be back in the PC. Cole then asks Reigns about the up and down year he has had and Reigns says he has been blessed and has been driven by the fact that he has his health and is able to get up each day and live life and he is glad to be back in a title match at WrestleMania. Cole asks Reigns about his critics that say that Reigns got a title match out of nowhere, Reigns says that he has been dealing with these same critics his entire career and then he poses the question of why shouldn’t he be in the main event at WrestleMania when he has spent all year being the main event of every show he has been on, and why shouldn’t he reap the benefits of all the hard work he put in all year? Reigns says that nobody in WWE has the level of commitment that he has and that he came back as fast as he could from his bout with Leukemia just so he could do what he loves and he isn’t bowing down to anyone and he is taking what is his.  Cole says the tagline for the match between Reigns and Goldberg at WrestleMania is Spear vs Spear and then asks Reigns’ response to the fact that Goldberg said that he was going to bulldoze Reigns down with his Spear. Reigns takes a shot at Georgia saying that because Goldberg went to college there he probably doesn’t even know how to operate a bulldozer. Reigns says he has a lot of respect for Goldberg and calls him an Icon, however, with that said Goldberg is a part-timer and he doesn’t have time for that because he is full time and he has dedicated every day of his life to wrestling and this is all he thinks about. Reigns says he was born and bred from wrestling and he has eaten from the WWE table his entire life. Reigns says Goldberg doesn’t know what he is in for and this match is more than just one move as Reigns has mastered the nuances of performance and at WrestleMania, he is gonna whoop Goldberg’s ass and he is taking back his Universal Title. Cole thanks Reigns for the interview and the segment ends.  I really enjoyed this interview as this felt like more of an interview with Joe Anoa’i rather than a promo by Roman Reigns as he was very relaxed and felt way more genuine than he usually does when he cuts a promo, even though the line where he says he has mastered the nuance of performance was a very strange way to say he is a better wrestler than Goldberg. I thought once the interview got to the part about Goldberg they did a good job of getting straight to the point. I also didn’t mind Reigns’s explanation of why he should be in this match against Goldberg. Overall this was a good segment, however, it pales in comparison to the promo we get later in the night.  We cut backstage where Sami Zayn and his boys think they are going to be interviewed, but Kayla Braxton tells them they have been bumped and Zayn says that usually, he would be upset about this, but he is too busy celebrating Intercontinental Title win from this past Sunday.  The person that Sami Zayn got bumped by was Jeff Hardy who says that he is happy to be back and happy to be healthy and while he has been away he has searched his soul and he has come to realize he has a lot left to do in the WWE. King Corbin walks up and says that he isn’t happy to see Hardy back and then mocks Hardy’s past alcohol issues, Hardy tells Corbin that he has a big match tonight and it’s against the King himself.  Elias then walks up and says he hasn’t forgotten what Corbin did last week and he has even written a song about it, but Corbin doesn’t care to hear it and walks off and when he does Elias says that Corbin has no idea what’s coming.  We are then told we will get a replay of the SmackDown Tag Team Title Elimination Chamber after the break.  We come back to a recap of the Daniel Bryan vs Drew Gulak match at Elimination Chamber and Triple H praises both guys.  We go to the back and Bryan walks up to Gulak and says that Gulak was right and that he does have holes in his game and on top of that his neck still hurts from this past Sunday. Bryan says that if Gulak is still willing to teach him then he is ready to learn from Gulak.  Sami Zayn and his boys walk up and Zayn talks about how Bryan refused their offer to join them and now Zayn has the Intercontinental Title while Bryan is a shell of his former self. Bryan steps up to Zayn, but Cesaro gets between them and this leads to Bryan challenging Cesaro to a match later tonight which Cesaro accepts.  We get the replay of the Chamber match which takes up a good portion of the show.  After the match, we cut to the ring where Miz & Morrison cut a promo which consists of them saying a bunch of positive things about themselves and if anyone disagrees speak now and there will be no booing or negative chants.  Daniel Bryan who is being accompanied by Drew Gulak makes his way to the ring as we go to commercial. When we come back we go to the announce desk where Triple H has taken control of the camera and says that they are short-handed and not everyone can have just one job. Cole says tonight feels like a flashback as his career in WWE started with DX giving him shit and now 25 years later he still has to deal with it.  We get a replay of the announcement on WWE Backstage that Rob Gronkowski is headed to the WWE. We then go to the announce table where Mojo Rawley has joined Cole & Triple H at ringside and he confirms that Gronk will be on SmackDown next week and then Mojo gets super hyped up and starts grabbing Cole and shakes him around and Triple H joins in on the fun as well because he loves messing with Cole.  Rob Gronkowski is coming to the WWE YAY!!! (cue eye roll) I couldn’t care less about this big jock coming to the WWE because that means we will basically have two annoying loud mouth jocks on the roster and I can barely tolerate Mojo as it is. I hope they don’t just throw him straight up to the SmackDown roster just because he has some name value because he needs to be down at the PC for a while just like Cain Velasquez. I can’t believe that just as I was starting to be able to tolerate Mojo as the heel that didn’t shy away from defending the 24/7 title they turned around and made him the obnoxious hype guy once again, thanks a lot WWE.
Match #2: Daniel Bryan w/ Drew Gulak vs Cesaro w/ Sami Zayn & Shinsuke Nakamura Sami Zayn has joined commentary for this match We get a lockup and then Cesaro grabs a side headlock, but Bryan shoots him off into the ropes only for Cesaro to come back with a shoulder block and Cesaro makes a cover for a quick 1 count. Both men get to their feet and Bryan backs Cesaro into the corner and delivers the corner kicks to Cesaro’s mid-section until Cesaro catches his leg and spins Bryan around so that he is now in the corner and then Cesaro fires away with a barrage of European uppercuts to the point where referee Jessika Carr has to back him away only for Cesaro to hit one last uppercut that sends Bryan crumbling to the mat as we go to commercial.  We come back to Bryan working his way out of a hold and he gives Cesaro a kick to the leg only for Cesaro to come back with an uppercut that sends Bryan rolling out to the apron. We are shown that during the break Bryan and Cesaro had a brutal strike exchange. Bryan tries to hit a shoulder attack on Cesaro from the apron, but Cesaro avoids it and knees Bryan in the chest and then Cesaro dead-lifts Bryan from the apron and suplexes him into the ring and this gets a 2 count. Cesaro hits a couple of running uppercuts in the corner until Bryan finally starts to make a comeback with the backflip off the top turnbuckle and the running clothesline. Bryan hits the Yes Kicks on Cesaro but this is only enough to get a 2 count. Bryan charges at Cesaro but gets caught and hit with the pop-up uppercut for another 2 count and as Bryan kicks out Cesaro transitions into a crossface but Bryan shifts his weight to turn it into a pin, but Cesaro is able to turn that into a crucifix pin of his own that gets a 2 count. Bryan catches Cesaro in a small package and that is enough to get the win on the Swiss Superman. Winner: Daniel Bryan via Pinfall   Match Rating: **3/4 After the match, Zayn and his boys attack Bryan until Gulak comes in to help out Bryan, but the numbers catch up on Gulak as they beat him down and send him into the steps at ringside and then Bryan makes the save by hitting a tope suicida and then the referees come out to break up the brawl.  I looked on Cagematch.net and this match only went 6:25 and while it was good for what it was, this match should’ve gone a lot longer which they could’ve easily done, but for some reason, they decided to replay a match we had seen only five days earlier instead. They haven’t even had a match as a team yet, but I am already loving the Bryan and Gulak team and can’t wait to see them against all the other teams on SmackDown. I got a chuckle out of Gulak wanting Bryan to do the Yes Chant and Bryan pointing out that there were no fans there but doing it anyway because his new teacher told him to. I also thought Zayn was great tonight as the sore winner who couldn’t help but gloat about his Intercontinental Title win and rub it in everyone’s face.  We cut to the announcers where Triple H is wiping the sweat off Michael Cole and then he darkens Cole’s soul patch with a sharpie since it has turned grey.  We are told that next week will see the contract signing between Goldberg and Roman Reigns  Match #3: Jeff Hardy vs King Corbin Elias has joined commentary for this match Corbin attacks Hardy before the bell and the action quickly spills outside as Corbin sends Hardy into the barricade before rolling into the ring and waiting on Hardy to roll in so the match can start. Corbin sends Hardy hard into the turnbuckle and then stares down Elias at ringside. Hardy makes a comeback with a sit-out jawbreaker and then takes Corbin down with a running forearm. Hardy hits an inverted atomic drop and then hits the double leg drop and seated dropkick combo and then goes for a cover that only gets a 2 count. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fury, but Corbin pushes him off into the corner. Hardy hits a back elbow on a charging Corbin and then gets his boots up when Corbin charges in again.  Hardy runs at Corbin but Corbin catches him in a Deep Six which gets a 2 count and Corbin argues with the referee before staring down Elias once again and asking him why he is out there. Elias gets on top of the announce desk and starts playing guitar. Corbin tries to hit the End of Days on Hardy but he is able to roll through it and hit the Twist of Fury followed by the Swanton Bomb which is enough to get the win.  Winner: Jeff Hardy via Pinfall    Match Rating: ** It’s nice to see Jeff Hardy back in action and hopefully, he can have a good singles run and stay free of injuries. I thought Elias was great on commentary during this match.  After the break, we go back up to the perch where Triple H thanks us for tuning in tonight and how the fans are the most important part of the show, he goes on to say that even though there was no crowd there the WWE superstars poured their hearts out for us tonight so we could be entertained.  John Cena makes his way to the ring as he will be interviewed by Michael Cole.  Cole asks Cena what he has to say in response to Wyatt’s claim that Cena is the reason for the downward spiral that happened in his life and thus gave birth to The Fiend. Cena says this isn’t the first time someone has blamed him for their failures and a lot of the people who blame him had lots of potential but they got lazy and gave up. Cena says that Wyatt is his own worst enemy. Cena says he has had his share of setbacks but instead of giving up he adapts, overcomes, and gets back in the fight. Cena talks about how there are a lot of guys who talk about how being in the WWE has been their dream, but when the demand gets too great they get lazy and blame everyone except themselves.  Cena goes on to say that he believes in what he said last week about investing in the future, but Wyatt isn’t that future and he can’t understand why certain guys get fifth and sixth chances when all they do is say “What about me?” instead of “How can I help you?”. Cena says he wants to invest in people who earn it. Cena wants to take Bray Wyatt out of the equation and at WrestleMania, it isn’t going to be a show-stealing match it’s going to be gruesome and uncomfortable. Cena’s goal is that by the end of WrestleMania he will end the existence of one of the most overhyped, overvalued, & over-privileged WWE superstars in existence.  We then hear the laugh of Bray Wyatt and as Cena and Cole look around Wyatt pops up from behind the barricade. Wyatt says that he is glad that Cena is here even though he did say something pretty mean things about him. Wyatt talks about how great Cena’s life is right now and how most of us can’t imagine what it would be like to be Cena for just one day. Wyatt says that Cena has him all wrong as Cena is the one that is sick not him because Cena only cares about Cena and he doesn’t care who he has to bury along the way as long as he gets his spotlight, in fact, Cena fiends for the spotlight.  Wyatt says that Cena took something from him back when they had their match at WrestleMania XXX and since then Wyatt has thought about it so much that he wanted to smash his brain into pieces just so he could have a moment of peace without the voices talking to him. Wyatt says that one day he stopped fighting the voices and started listening to them and they took his messed up world and turned it into a funhouse. Wyatt says that Cena broke him but The Fiend put him back together and at WrestleMania, it’s going to be a slaughter. Wyatt then tells Cena to let him in and a video of The Fiend shows up as SmackDown goes off the air.  This was a fantastic way to close the show as this was hands down the best promo segment I have reviewed yet and it was so refreshing to hear a great promo after having to sit through Baron Corbin promos for the past four-plus months. It’s always nice to see some continuity in WWE and the fact that they are using Wyatt’s loss against Cena at WrestleMania XXX as the reason for this feud is some great storytelling. Everyone has always said that when Cena leaves out the poop jokes and childish humor in his promos that he is one of the best promos in wrestling and that proved to be true once again tonight as he cut a very passionate and well-spoken promo that actually felt a bit more heelish than a usual Cena promo. On the flip side, I thought Wyatt did a good job of calling Cena on his shit and I really liked the line about how Cena fiends for the spotlight. We finally got a great explanation of exactly how The Fiend came to be and why Wyatt listens to him and it all goes back points back to Cena, this was some of the best Wyatt character development we have gotten in quite a while and for once it made sense and wasn’t just Wyatt rambling on about nothing. This segment alone sold me on the Cena vs Wyatt match and I would be perfectly fine if there were no more interactions between them until WrestleMania as there is nothing else they could do to hype up the match that would be as effective as this was.  This was quite a unique and surreal episode of SmackDown to review and unfortunately by the way it’s looking it won’t be the last as they could be stuck doing shows at the PC without an audience for the next couple of months and on top of that the fate of WrestleMania is still up in the air although it should’ve already been postponed seeing as all other major sports and entertainment events have been canceled or postponed for the foreseeable future, however, the officials in Tampa are leaving it in WWE’s hands which is dumb because if they knew Vince they would know to never leave a decision like this in his hands, I mean this is the same guy who didn’t even stop a show when one of his workers died during the show.  As far as SmackDown itself goes I thought they did a good job for their first show under these crazy circumstances, while the matches were nothing to write home about I thought both the Roman Reigns interview and the closing segment were great and did a lot to build up to WrestleMania. I also want to say that the MVPs for this show were hands down Michael Cole and Triple H as they pretty much carried this show as they did a great job of finding a balance between getting over the talent that was in the ring and also being goofy and light-hearted which was definitely needed after everything the world has been going through the past couple of weeks, the fact that Triple H spent the entire show ribbing Cole was great but at the same time he was able to switch into professional mode when he needed to. I know people give Cole a hard time and can’t stand him and that is well warranted, but when he doesn’t have Vince screaming in his ear he is really good at what he does and tonight proved that as he was great in both roles of being a commentator and then as an interviewer during the Reigns and Cena segments, and he was also great in the role of being Triple H’s ribbing victim.  I truly do believe once Cole steps away from the announce table he will be someone we will actually come to respect and maybe even miss. With all due respect to Corey Graves, I wouldn’t mind if this was the announce team for SmackDown while they are down in the PC and I highly doubt the Raw team will be as good as what we got on this show. The only minor complaint I have about this show is that they should’ve given Cesaro vs Bryan more time instead of replaying the Chamber match, but other than that I thought it was a solid show under these circumstances.  I know some are complaining that they never mentioned that they were at the PC because of the Coronavirus and to that I say take a chill pill, this show was supposed to be an escape from the real world plus why do they need to state the obvious, I mean would there be any other reason as to why they would be running a SmackDown show at the PC in front of an empty crowd some people are just so biased that they can’t even give WWE credit even when they do something right.  That’s it for this week I’ll be back next week for our presumably second empty arena show from the PC  where we will continue down the road to WrestleMania which may or may not (but really shouldn’t) be happening on April 5.
