i love the egg child part of the qsmp so much i just need to put it into words. it’s such a smart idea for how to make sure the server stays active — it’s not an activity requirement, but if you don’t take care of your egg, it will die. theoretically, you could just let your egg die and you can let someone else take care of it when you aren’t free to join. but people fall in love with their little pixel children and then they WANT to be active, it’s not an obligation they have to fill but something their consistently excited to do.

and having the parents be an english streamer and a spanish streamer is such a good way to make sure they all interact with each other across the language barrier. sure, there is some in-game translation to make things easier, but they also end up talking on discord to coordinate childcare and in the screenshots we’ve seen i think it’s so interesting how they’ll often speak the other person’s language rather than just picking one to both use or only using their own. co-parenting also gives them the basis for building up strong and unique relationships between the streamers themselves and their qsmp characters, which would’ve been much harder to develop without being given a starting point given the language barrier.

it’s just so clear how much thought quackity has put into this server and it’s so fun to watch everyone fall in love with their little egg children

#also as a side note the people ahead of time being like ‘this is such a random group of people why did q pick them they aren’t even friends’#it makes a lot more sense with the egg context #everyone he picked is someone who will be a good parent #their online personas allow for them to be responsible without losing the way they normally act in content #and they’re all the kind of people who take silly things seriously and won’t think it’s funny just to kill other people’s eggs for no reason #like i love tommy and he is great at loving things in minecraft but it would be SO weird to see him be a parent yknow #like it just doesn’t fit with his online persona he’s presenting more mature as he gets older but still #the ‘child’ propaganda is still too strong rn #and regardless of how close quackity currently is or isn’t with dteam and co #i think it’s pretty clear why he wouldn’t want to include anyone who participated in trying to kill micheal b.#it’s not the vibe he was going for with this server #the way that things have played out with the eggs makes it very clear that everyone was well chosen for this server #it’s good content but still lighthearted and filled with love #very long tag rant oops #qsmp #my post

i think it’s fun that blossom and buttercup butt heads the most vs brick who targets boomer and more or less gets along swell with butch

#once again this is just me stating the obvious but i think about it a lot anyway #like with buttercup it’s a general refusal to follow the given instruction #vs boomer whose issue with brick tends to be incomprehension or lack of capability #and like. the difference between a leader who wants a Good Clean outcome vs one who just wants to have fun at all costs #butch has no reason to oppose brick because their goals basically align similar to how bubbles and blossom function #whereas buttercup Wants to be reckless under the instruction of someone who simply is Not #and boomers situation is a bit different because he really doesn’t oppose Brick much at all #he’s just a bit slow to catch on and will tend to speak out of turn out of excitement to contribute to a situation #vs butch who quite literally just parrots a lot of what brick says in a lot of his dialog #boomer is just ‘soft’ enough to be an easy target #it also Is just really fitting of brick to aim that kind of attitude at someone who’s less likely to do anything about it #whereas blossom generally has a real point she wants to drill into buttercups head so the resulting fight is. kind of the goal #idk where i’m going with this i just saw a post that made me want to organize these thoughts somewhere #bubble journal #editing to add more #like alright boomer is. undoubtedly a part of their group #i don’t think he’s a true odd one out he Isn’t #he scraps with them and likes the same things they do and generally likes to participate with them #he just so happens to be the ‘worst’ relative to the other two at being a Rowdy/ruff Boy #at least in the way they perceive one ought to be #so when he gets a bit too obviously naive he’ll get singled out #but it’s clear he can generally keep up with them anyway #if only for the fact that brick and butch can instantly tell when bubbles wasn’t able to #does this make sense i feel like i lost the plot

thinking about how Matty and Blaze’s relationship is sort of a ‘what if’/mirror image of the relationship Rita and Joel had when they were river phoenixes but where Rita and Joel actually stayed together.

#I’m a sucker for cinematic parallels. I like how poetic they can be. I like how introspective they can be #Joel would defiantely see their relationship and immediately think of his time with Rita #and it shakes him to the point where he like feels responsible to turn matt away from becoming a brawler because #he doesn’t want Matty to be like him. and by extension. doesn’t want Blaze to be like Rita.#fyi. Joel and Rita are separated and have a daughter. Rita isn’t involved with the gangs anymore. she’s a normal participant in society now #(I mentioned that the daughter’s name is lyla in the previous post of me talking about reprisal)#I think that Joel really wanted to be with Rita and raise lyla together like a normal family #but due to being associated with the Banished Brawlers and so knee deep into the gang’s politics it’s not easy to get out.#and also if he did leave he could never go back to the brawlers again.#Joel has this self reflection in episode 8/9 where he says being a brawler made him a worse person #that’s more violent and destructive and he pretty much lectures Matty about how he doesn’t want Matt to be a brawler because of that fact #obviously Matt’s too stubborn to see this but the exchange of dialogue gives me alot of food for thought #shallow rambles #reprisalposting

yk how like a week ago i found out that thomas gets accused of being the murderer. well i just read the scene. man looks guilty as fuck it must be said :( like he’s not, WE know he’s not. but well. the inquisitor doesn’t.

#speaking of being the inquisitor. i can’t believe the show made alec the inquisitor in a point of the plot that would be right after the #events of the final tmi book. i kinda hate that ngl. but i don’t wanna be mean about a show i literally LIKE. so.#but actually i would like to be mean a little. one second.#ok because clearly they did that because in the more recent books (canonically YEARS after the dark war) alec does become a really big #leader figure and eventually consul but that doesn’t happen until qoaad which came out after they would have written it into the show #and also because robert was the inquisitor in the books so i guess that had something to do with it #but it’s so STUPID and i HATE it because the whole POINT of alec is that he doesn’t like the way the shadowhunter government is run and when #he eventually became consul it was because they were literally having a revolution and the clave was split in two and alec is the consul of #one side while the other side (the traditionalists) are in idris #alec would NOT be the inquisitor and participate in the clave’s established government trying to ‘change it from the inside’ like a cop.#the only reason he’s the consul NOW is because he and his side of shadowhunters wanted a radical change.#the whole point is that the traditional shadowhunter government is agaisnt progress and still thinks shadowhunters are like a superior race #their old government is BAD. that’s why the protagonists of the stories never go to them for help #making him a part of that system is such bullshit to me and at best it shows that the show didn’t understand half the themes of the books #and at worst doesn’t understand alec as a character. which is annoying because they HAVE understood him. they HAVE proven that they know him #they know that alec is a leader but they don’t understand that he’s not a government leader. he’s a revolutionary leader.#also i don’t remember the last ten episodes of the show so i don’t know what i’m taking about blah blah whatever. but still.#this post was supposed to be about thomas. ok.#tlh lb
