Halves of a Whole
So I watched the end of the Tazercraft stream. Have a ficlet in two halves I guess. Disclaimer - I speak no Portuguese so a lot of things are guesswork. And this didn't quite do what I wanted, but I need to get groceries and stuff so... Enjoy?
Warning for what should probably be interpreted as suicidal thoughts
It is dark, and it is cold, and even if he screams Mike can hear nothing. He tries to claw his way out, but his fingers can find no purchase. There is nothing here, at least, not that he can find.
There is nothing to stir the silent void in his heart.
The void, just like the one into which he fell.
He thinks of everything, but most of all of Pac screaming for him - of screaming back.
He should have been more careful, more cautious, more restrained. He should not have been so distracted by the enchanted apple as to not see the weakness in the floor. At least Pac stayed back, at least he was not taken again, not when he has yet to heal; at least it is only Mike who is gone, gone, gone-
Mike cannot live without Pac, just as Pac cannot live without Mike. They are sides of a coin, halves of a whole, each other's heart and soul and the blood in their veins.
He is so, so tired.
He must do this again.
At least it is him taken this time. At least Pac is not alone. It is no mercy from the Federation, but it feels like one at least.
He cannot sleep; he must fight and break out and find his way home, find his way back.
Fight his way to where Pac will be fighting and searching for him.
(He wants to dig down and down and throw himself into the void and never have to think again)
The air remains frozen.
His eyes flicker and fade as they search for a light.
His only thought is of his other half's screams.
---
It is dark, and it is cold, and even if he screams nobody will hear Pac. He cannot move, he cannot try; even if he had the strength to, Richarlyson has stolen his fingers, child gripping tight onto him.
It does nothing to quiet the screaming void in his heart.
The void, just like the one where Mike fell.
He cannot think of anything, nothing but Mike screaming for him - of screaming back.
He should have been faster, closer, braver. Or stronger, louder, firmer. Should have gone with Mike, or should have pulled him back. Because now he is gone, gone, gone-
Pac cannot live without Mike, just as Mike cannot live without Pac. They are sides of a coin, halves of a whole, each other's heart and soul and the air that they breathe.
He is so, so tired.
He cannot do this again.
Why could it not be him taken this time? Why must Mike be alone? Why is the Federation not merciful, why will they not just leave them be?
He just wants to sleep, and sleep, and sleep, until death takes him or Mike finds his way home.
Until he gathers the strength to go out, and find Mike just as Mike found him.
(He wants to throw himself into the void, and find Mike there at the bottom of hell)
His body remains frozen.
His eyes remain on the flickering light.
His only thought is of his other half's screams.

One thing I like about Marcus is that he's kind of
Schrodinger's Death Eater
Like yeah he's a Slytherin
He's an asshole
But
He is never mentioned again after the third book.
Not once.
Not even a different Flint is ever mentioned
you don't even hear about like his parent being a death eater which means
You can make him one if you want
if you need him to be for the story you want to tell
Or you can choose not to if that fits better
and immediately neither of these actually go against canon
Which is really fun to me
Because you can make him and his family just literally leave the country if you want
Or maybe he is just a death eater
Or if you like me like him being close to the others that we know around his age and are also allergic to making OCs you can make him a spy with Percy
maybe they both work in the ministry and he uses the fact most people won't watch him as closely as they do Percy to get things done that need to be done. Very Percy is the brains of the operation and Marcus is the actual body of it because they both know Percy really can't step out of line too much.
But similar to how Hogwarts was during that last year of the war people just assume that as a pureblooded Slytherin Marcus is just on their side by default so don't even look twice at him
Or you know just a Quidditch boy
