so amidst my revamping and long overdue spring cleaning of this blog. a thought occured to me at work which frankly should have come sooner, but the way the series paints naruto’s support system compared to sasukes is just depressing. yes while i do understand that he is the protaganist and sasuke is considered one of the protagonists ( as far as part one is concerned ) while i will argue that eventually sasuke is a deuteragonist and antagonist. though it’s made a point even in the beginnings of part one that nartuo had the likes of iruka, in the anime the friendship of shikamaru, choji, and kiba is another one. though by that point this is after the massacare where sasuke isn’t interested in friendship, being coddled, or anything remotley as to what naruto has. naruto eventually gets jiraiya. sasuke by this point had slowly built a family with team seven, he cared for them enough to put himself in harms way. nearly giving his life for both naruto and sakura on a dozen occasions. yet it isn’t anything complete, or something i feel sasuke could compare. not that i myself or he would be comparing, but simply. naruto had all these people. even on occasion as indicated in the anime ( not the manga ) that hiruzen sometimes showed up and checked on him. sasuke is seemingly left to his own devices. it’s all part of the story and i understand that, but there is a scene in the final fight between him and naruto where it shows all of those naruto has touched by his sunshine-like demeanor there aiding him in that final rasengan ( not literally there but you know what i mean ) and sasuke had no one. it’s intentional because sasuke had cut all ties he had and even in his youth wasn’t very well liked. it just breaks my heart because none of them ever truly understood sasuke. he’s only seen as a traitor who abandoned the village. a teenager with a nasty attitude who wanted to see his home burn for what it stripped from him. none of them can even fathom it or understand. is it any wonder why he doesn’t want to stay in konoha even after naruto brings him back? after he only returns for him? because he trusts only naruto? this isn’t to say he doesn’t feel any feelings towards sakura, but it’s all muddied and twisted under layers of anger. as for kakashi? his stance is very conflicted with his former mentor. but team seven is and will always be important to sasuke.

Root Sasuke au 2

This was meant to be a commentary on loyalty and a crossover with canon.  As a separate universe, it needed a different plot and unfortunately got far less dramatic :(

ALSO! U guys need to know that this is The Bad Ending.  None of it really reflects my thoughts on canon.  The main idea is that a lot of the Naruto fandom dislikes Sasuke because he puts things above Naruto/the leaf village.  He seeks revenge for his families deaths instead of going back to Konoha.  He has his own goals outside of Naruto and when Naruto asks him to come back, he’s like i have more important things to do.  So here’s a Sasuke that’s loyal to the leaf village!  Who doesn’t kill Itachi!

The massacre happens (of course it does)

Left alone in an empty compound with noone to hear him scream… Sasuke is kidnapped by kekkei-genkai thieves looking for some of the only Sharingan left in existence.  And a traumatized 7-yr-old is easier prey than S-ranked missing nin Itachi.

The kidnappers (probably land of lightning) don’t know that Sasuke already awakened the Sharingan during the massacre (which is canonical) and Sasuke doesn’t remember either.

So they try and force an activate.  Because of course they do.

Itachi learns of his brothers kidnapping.  He does nothing.  Why would he?  Konoha will get Sasuke back, Itachi is certain.  He doesn’t leak classified information either.  He may have threatened to, but in the end the village is to important.

Newly traumatized Sasuke is rescued from his kidnappers by Root.  He’s more malleable in this timeline, as a couple months after an extremely traumatizing event he goes through another traumatic event.  The Third Hokage agrees to let Danzo be responsible for Sasuke/train him/protect him from bloodline thieves and so Itachi doesn’t come back.

Sasuke is trained as a Root operative.  Instead of doing the standard test of killing his “brother” Sasuke is given the ultimate test of loyalty: he is told the truth about the Uchiha Massacre.  Sasuke firmly believes that the clan deserved it for going against Konoha, that they were cursed with hatred, and Danzo has pulled him from the path of darkness.

Sasuke is placed on Naruto’s genin team to keep an eye on him.  Oddly enough, things develop a lot like in canon.  Naruto remembers when Sasuke was alone, and wanted to talk to him.  Hearing that Sasuke was taken away for ~special training~ is the event that makes him want to be better than Sasuke, as opposed to Sasuke being top in the academy in canon.

Sasuke still gets the curse mark, Danzo orders Sasuke to go with Orochimaru, spy on him, and eventually kill him.  Naruto is still chasing Sasuke down.  Sai is assigned to their team and he does/says things that make ppl or at least Kakashi examine their memories of Sasuke a little closer.

Itachi finally sees his little brother.  It’s everything he’s ever wanted, and he chokes on it.  His brother is loyal to Konoha!... But only because he’s been manipulated and brainwashed for five years.  Sasuke accepts what Itachi has done and doesn’t hate him for, believes he was in the right!  And yet, there’s something unsettling about how calmly Sasuke dismisses his mental torture, how he reduces dead children to simply collateral damage.

I heard u were kidnapped  “It’s okay!  Danzo-sama saved me.”  cue everything clicking into place mentally.

Somebody probably asks some pointed questions about when killing for the village is okay.  Like would you kill everybody else in the world if it was the only way to ensure the safety of the village.  Sasuke comes back to Konoha with Itachi!  Naruto gets his friend back!  Everybody is trying to encourage Sasuke to grow as a person and not a Root agent and he’s like, No <3.

Obito is NOT having a good time.  Wdym the child you were trying to manipulate doesn’t care the government had his brother kill his entire family.

OHH that makes sense. i didnt feel that as strongly during the beast befriending scenes, but the series as a whole is really bad about addressing "negative" reactions/emotions like anger specifically when in a bad situation that was caused by someone else.

naruto himself unfortunately becomes a representation of that concept, especially in shippuden, that if youre upset youre "bad" and "need to be fixed" because youre not justified in getting upset.

prolly has a LOT to do with the fact that naruto also went through similar situations and discrimination to a lot of the "villains" he "fixes", but he didnt react with anger and kinda just... accepted it? and thought he had to "prove himself" bc he wasnt worthy of loving otherwise?

its not a bad character trait and it is very interesting given everything, but i wish so bad they had taken it in another way. and during the waterfall scene... GRJCJF that one made me so mad in his place 😭😭

especially after the bridge arc there was a completely different path they couldve taken w naruto both the series anf the guy, particularly in relation to how different people Will react differently to oppression and trauma or whatever, and connecting with them doesnt mean telling them to suck it up and become loyal, but they... kinda. didnt.

but yeah this got long but i understand what you mean now. the beasts i would say arent tbe most obvious example but they also couldve been handled much better

A/N: i'm clearing out my drafts ,, was in a huge naruto phase when i started this blog!

☆ genin sasuke is pretty mean. he doesn't notice you for your looks, personality, or even your prowess as a young kunoichi. you're just... you. in which, you don't cling to him like sakura does, and you aren't delusional like ino is. you're just okay at first, and there's not much he can go off of when he never really interacts with you. it's nothing personal, really.

☆ although sasuke is typically not a stranger to the prospect of romance, the reason why he doesn't indulge is simply because he fails to understand what romance is. if sasuke is anything, he's aware; of his surroundings, the people in it, and the turmoil that churns inside of him. the more he loves, the more he'll eventually hate, so he gathers that there's no room for it in his life. it's his curse to bear.

☆ genin sasuke would eventually notice you after being placed on team seven together, of course. you're pretty hard to ignore from thereon. in between the bouts of sakura clobbering him and naruto screaming in his face, his eyes are on you. both naruto and sakura wear the extent of their capabilities on their sleeves, but you're hard to read and that intrigues sasuke.

☆ it's not until much later that sasuke notices his feelings for you are much different than before. after all the trouble you've been through together (near death experiences & the dreadful antics of naruto), he feels like he's finally got a foothold on what it is that makes you so interesting. he's not a moron—yes, it would appear that he does like you beyond the "like" that he holds for the rest of team seven. however, it's such a foreign feeling that he's not even sure how to handle it, being that he's never had to deal with it before. does he tell you? does he not? would you even feel the same?

☆ in the end, sasuke shows his fondness for you in more subtle ways. it's not really his style to outright confess. sometimes he'll ask you to spar with him (alone, which he stresses), or he'll happen to have a "spare" tomato (or onigiri, if you don't like tomatoes) on him when you complain about being hungry during missions. if you get ambushed by rogue ninja on a mission, he'll instinctively step in front of you, or if you're out of kunai he'll lend you a couple of his—things like that. he's quite thoughtful when he wants to be.

☆ even under sasuke's merciful tolerance of you, you're not off-limits when it comes to his biting insults and sarcastic comments. normally he doesn't speak much but with you he becomes rather talkative, if you can even call it that. when someone else tries to butt in, sasuke's brooding and murderous glares scare them away. they should really know better than to talk to you when he's around.

☆ sakura obviously hates that you've suddenly become the apple of sasuke's eye when she's been vying after him since their early days at the academy. you're not even that pretty, honestly. but any attempt to sabotage you or make you look like a fool in front of sasuke is thwarted... by sasuke. he always thought of sakura like a whining gnat in his ear so it's amusing to see her cry when he blatantly ignores her for messing with you.

☆ when sasuke leaves the village, you're the first person he visits beforehand. you're asleep but that's just fine; actually, it's perfect because you don't see how he gently caresses your hair and how he gives you a kiss on your forehead. you don't hear him when he finally admits that he likes you. loves you, even. you don't hear him when he says he wishes he could take you with him.

☆ but don't worry, he'll be back for you...

Naruto Characters Accidentally Calling their Girlfriend their Wife

MR KRABSSSS I HAVE AN IDEAAA

Characters: Naruto, Sasuke, Shino, Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, Neji, Rock Lee, Kankuro, and Gaara.

Naruto Uzumaki

He’s talking to some new people and enthusiastically pulls you to his side, a large smile on his face, and he says “This is my wife! Y/N!”

You can’t hide your shock, not fully at least. He’s never called you his wife before. I mean, he’s said things like “you’ll be my future wife, right?” As he giggles or something.

But you are in a state of shock that he introduced you that way.

Nonetheless, you’re happy.

If the person makes a comment about how young or cute you two are for a married couple, he’d realize. Likely, he’d respond a little oddly, stuttering, but recovers and just full sends with the claim you’re his wife.

Sasuke Uchiha

If he’s with you, you’re gonna be his wife anyways. He didn’t get with you until he was sure of that, because it took him a long time to realize he felt that way anyways.

So he calls you his wife with full confidence, before realizing his mistake. However, he doesn’t care too much to correct himself or anything.

Because you are gonna marry him right? (He’s actually really nervous to propose, but he won’t admit that.)

People would probably just believe him immediately considering just how serious he is about you to even be with you.

When you confront him about it later, he’ll ask you if that was okay, explain it was a mistake, but he’ll probably comment on how he’s dating to marry anyways so… you might as well be his wife.

You can probably expect a proposal soon.

Shino Aburame

I can’t fully see this happening tbh. However, let’s say that it does.

He’d probably over explain himself to the person he referred of you as his wife too.

Not that he doesn’t want you as his wife, but you haven’t said you’ll be his wife yet. So he can’t call you his wife. That’s how he sees it.

He’ll probably think he messed up and upset you, so you’ll have to explain it was cute.

Once you explain to him, he’ll see your point. Maybe with some reluctance to lighten up on himself.

He’ll be happy you want to be seen as his wife though.

Kiba Inuzuka

Realized his mistake, but he could not be bothered.

He will keep on as if there is no mistake. As if you are legally married.

He’ll be upset if you correct him in front of people.

It’ll turn into a bit of an argument if you correct him in any way other than sweetly.

Because what the big deal???

If you leave it alone, and talk to him later, now he’s nervous and stuttering. But he’ll likely comment on how he knows you want to marry him so you might as well be called his wife.

Shikamaru Nara

Immediately realizing what slipped out his mouth.

Does he really want you to be his wife? Well, of course he does. But that’s a lot for him to accidentally spill out to some strangers you’re both meeting.

They don’t know he made a mistake, because you roll with it.

Later, he’ll try to avoid talking about it, but if you bring it up, he’ll say it was a mistake, don’t take it so seriously.

If you seem down about his underwhelming response, he’ll likely have an actual talk about his future with you to reassure you that he was just being an idiot when he said that.

Choji Akimichi

He forgot you’re not his wife.

I think Choji would just love you so much that he would simply treat you like a wife. To the point he forgets, you’re not his wife.

If you comment on it, he’ll think about it and probably be like ohhhh right.

He’ll apologize, but more than likely you’ll just say it was cute.

I can see him calling you wifey.

But if he’s gonna call you that, he’s gotta get you that ring. He’s planning on it as yall speak.

Neji Hyuga

You two are waiting a while before calling it official. Plans of marriage are far off.

He’s a little too traditional to jump at marriage quickly.

So when he accidentally calls you his wife, it was to Hiashi. He went pale. Paler than usual.

Later, depending on how exactly that went, he’ll probably be in his head.

Let’s assume for this though, that Hiashi approves of you completely.

Hiashi made a comment, rather he meant it badly or not, Neji will take it the wrong way. Realize he jumped too far.

You’ll have to tell him you find it cute, and rather his uncle approves of you two or not, you’ll be his wife someday :)

Rock Lee

It COULD be an honest mistake.

But let’s be honest,

It’s Lee.

He calls you his wife to your face, to other people, hell, he’d shout it from the roof tops.

So it’s not an accident. He meant it. He will one day make you his wife, so why would he not call you his wife now!

If you have any reserves about being called his wife before actual marriage, he will pout and be upset. He won’t understand.

But, once that’s over, he’s crying and begging for forgiveness.

Please tell him it’s cute that he wants to marry you, even if you do want to have a talk with him about not assuming roles you don’t officially have.

Gaara

HE CALLED YOU HIS WIFE IN FRONT OF A CROWD. so now he’s blushing.

He might correct his mistake, might not. Depends.

He’s a confident speaker, but that threw him off a little bit.

Likely you were a strong shinobi or something and he was trying to give you credit where it’s due, but it didn’t go as planned.

When you too are alone later, you’ll bring it up likely.

If you tell him you thought it was cute or sweet, he’ll turn bright red like his hair.

He likely won’t go on calling you his wife or anything. Maybe in private.

But he’s not ashamed of it. After all, he’s strongly considering marriage.

Called you his wife to his siblings while you were over for dinner.

Temari is not letting him live it down.

“Hey, I think your wife is trying to get your attention.” “I don’t know, maybe ask your wife?” “What about your wife?” From then on out.

He’s frustrated because it was a mistake, BUTTTT honestly, eventually he’ll make some snarky comment about how at least he’s closer to marriage than she is. Then he probably harps on Shikamaru a little bit in defense for his own comment.

(He approves of Shikamaru tho, if he’s being real. He just thinks it’s a little funny)

As long as this is before a certain point.

He decides to call you his wife to your face.

Sakura is terrified that she’s going to mess this up.

Naruto’s never been mean to her, and has complimented her hair several times, but they’re not really friends. Back when she was friends with Ino, she’d see her at the Yamanaka compound sometimes and they’d play together, but she doubts Naruto remembers that.

Sakura doesn’t think she and Sasuke have ever had an actual conversation. He used to be the center of all their competitive crushes, to his hilarious dismay, but then he got betrothed to Naruto and no one was willing to piss off the hokage’s daughter by flirting with her fiance.

Well, besides Ino, but everyone knows she does it just because Sasuke hates it and Naruto feels duty bound to defend him.

Also because Shikamaru ended up taking Sasuke’s place as Cutest (and Available) Boy and Ino would rather stab herself in the eye than bat her eyelashes at Shikamaru, even if that means there’s a social game she can’t win.

Sakura's on a team with son of the Uchiha clan head and the hokage’s daughter, Rookie of the Year and Top Kunoichi, and their sensei isn’t even some normal jounin, but the Inuzuka clan head.

Tsume-sensei seems dismayed when they pass, although Sakura thinks she should have expected this. Naruto and Sasuke have been working as a team for even longer than they’ve been engaged.

Maybe she’s just surprised that they folded Sakura in with them instead of leaving her behind. Honestly, she’s pretty surprised by that too.

“Does this mean we get a dog?” Naruto asks brightly as Sasuke picks twigs out of her hair. “Mom says I only get one pet and doesn’t believe me that the frog doesn’t count.”

“No,” Tsume-sensei snaps, then, “Maybe, I don’t know. I hadn’t actually expected that I’d have to train you, fuck.”

Sakura can’t see this going well.

Naruto walks home with Sasuke, because her mother is working late to avoid her father and her father is working late to avoid the fact that her mother is working late to avoid him.

She wishes they’d just get a divorce. Maybe they will now that she’s legally an adult. Maybe she’ll move out and take herself out of the equation.

She won’t. But she thinks about it a lot.

“Maybe it’s good that it’s Tsume,” she says. “Sakura’s biggest weakness is her conditioning and you know that Tsume will train us into the dirt.”

Sasuke hums. “Maybe we should introduce her to Gai.”

She stares. “Do you hate Sakura?”

“She’s fine,” he says dismissively. “It’s too bad we didn’t get Hinata, but both my father and hers would have thrown a fit and gone to complain to yours. He’s the best at taijutsu, if she joins Team Nine’s morning workouts then she’ll be up to par in no time.”

“If it doesn’t kill her,” Naruto says dryly. “Why don’t we see what Tsume cooks up first, yeah? The first chunin exam is months away. She has time.”

“How do you know Tsume will sign us up for that one?” he asks, although by the glint in his eye he already knows.

Naruto answers anyway. “Tsume is going to take the first opportunity to get rid of us that she can, which would be the chunin exams. She’ll be praying for us to either pass or die.”

He laughs, a breathy sound that wouldn’t qualify coming from anyone else.

They arrive at the Uchiha compound and she stares at it wistfully. After helping uncover the almost betrayal, every Uchiha is nice to her now. The compound is so warm and bright and everyone is happy to see her and there’s always somewhere she can go.

“You can join me,” Sasuke says. “Mom always makes extra.”

Just in case she shows up.

“They’ll be expecting me to be home after the test,” she says, trying not to sigh. “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”

Sasuke nods, a pinched look on his face that she pretends not to notice.

When they get married, she hopes they live in the compound.
