rebelcaptain au (which is really just a wild cards au) with detective cassian who's at risk of being demoted bc his superiors didn't like how he handled his last big case, and con artist jyn, crossing paths when she gets arrested for a petty theft, that ends up being related to his current case. they end up striking a deal with the higher ups: they have to work together on this case, with jyn as a consultant, so she can stay out of prison and he can regain his favor.

#additional points that fit in with the wild cards au: cassian's sister was murdered a year ago - hence his poor decisions on his last case #this i'm finagling a bit more - saw is a con artist and taught jyn everything she knows after galen got arrested when she was a teen #turns out saw roped galen into one of his schemes and then threw galen under the bus when he was about to get caught #and jyn's been working to get her dad out so this deal with cass also helps with that #rebelcaptain #i need to stop coming up with fic ideas ffsdfsljkl. i'm literally not done writing the 3 (THREE!) fics i'm actively working on #but also can somebody else watch this show so we can scream about it. i'm dying out here
