The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
Din’s new Nevarro neighbors realizing pretty quickly that the new guy will help you with anything if you ask him nicely. Got a leaky roof? He’ll climb up there and patch it and clean out the gutters while he’s at it. Old and need someone to run into town and pick up some groceries for you? How many potatoes do you need, ma’am? Some creep keeps harassing you? Don’t worry about it, it’s taken care of.
Din has all the thank-you pies, cakes, and pastries he and Grogu can eat.
Din Djarin has still never been angrier than he was when he thought Greef Karga's bounty hunters decimated his covert, yet those same Mandalorians turned their backs on him the moment he took off his helmet for his foundling... pain.
It's the gentleness of his act and the compassion in his eyes. Isn't that the spirit of who Luke Skywalker is?
Let him act or let Disney train him if they're not confident enough. IDC. He's a good fit. I said what I said. 🤷♀️
But I don't really expect if he'll get the role(esp with Disney), I'm just living in the moment and here to appreciate that face of his!!
Look at the glint of his eyes here. He's so passionate about it. He must have had a blast playing Luke and he did it respectfully. 👏👏
So I was inspired to make more content about him because of @tabrisshiki and @lex-the-flex's post. I posted those edits on Tiktok yesterday and it got 1million+ views.✨The people have spoken✨This other edit was a personal fave and I want to share a cleaner version here. JUST LOOK AT HIM and tell me he doesn't embody Luke's spirit! ✨
I found out he wasn't even credited for his role like Disney???💀 I'm ALL for sharing and appreciating his performance even more.
dinluke and grogu visits boba on tatooine because, honestly? din misses his friend. and luke is nothing but indulgent to his boyfriend so of course he tags along. ("yes, i promise not to fight fett. this time. unless provoked. if he provokes me again, din, then i'm fighting him.") tho, luke is unaware of boba's rancor so when they land on boba's property, the rancor—that boba takes on daily walks, the big guy needs his exercise—excitedly charges at grogu.
luke immediately gets flashbacks and ignites his saber, only for din to toss grogu to the damn beast and—why is grogu giggling? and why is the rancor wagging its tail? and why is grogu babbling in that happy tone luke's only ever heard around when he's around his parents? and—
"din, what the fuck is that thing doing to my son?"
"they're hugging, skywalker. it's what friends do—"
"is your name din? no. shut up, fett." luke whips his head to his boyfriend and points to grogu and the rancor as if he's expecting an explanation as to why grogu knows its favorite scratch spot is behind its ears.
he doesn't get an explanation, though. well, nothing more than din simply saying, "grogu and chomp have a long history."
luke...luke really wants din to elaborate on their so called 'long history' bc grogu is now on top of the rancor and tugging on its chains as if he wants it to scale the nearest cliff. which he probably does.
but luke is also fixated on a small detail that sounds too good to be true.
he slowly turns to boba, who's suddenly taken an interest in his sandy boots, and says behind a barely contained laugh, "you named your rancor chomp?"
boba sheepishly kicks at a pebble in such a non boba fett way that luke has never seen before. then, "he...likes to chomp...on things. the kids helped me name him. chomp was the least terrible one." boba coughs into a gloved fist and adds, "it was a vote."
as luke laughs a belly clutching cackle that doubles him over, making din support most of his weight so he doesn't face plant into the sand, he can't help but think that han is going to love this. boba fett, the guy who tried to kill them on more than one occasion, named his rancor chomp, of all names, because his cybernetic teenagers voted on it.
Does this mean Clan Wren is alive in your AU? And by "Clan Wren", I really mean Tristan, since I ship him with Ezra.
very very little of clan wren's alive, could be like 4 ppl tops who knows, but i think its unrealistic every single clanmember died. ON TRISTAN i've been flipflopping between yes and no since the show started. bc on the one hand all of sabine's family being dead works rlly well narratively, she's lost every mandalorian she loves and her whole culture and home planet and has some severe survivors guilt bc she should've been with them instead of her other (also half dead) family and she's dealing with it by being in her fleabag girlfailure era and trying to completely ignore the fact she's mandalorian at all. plus i don't want to disregard ALL of canon gotta keep some things.
Are you seriously telling me that all of that work happened just to separate Zeb from Kallus.
I used Zeb's appearance in the Mandalorian as a reason he would definitely show up again! "Oh, why would they put all that effort and time and money into creating a live-action model for him if he was only going to appear in the Mandalorian briefly and then not be in the Ahsoka show, aka Rebels Season 5? That would be ridiculous!" Yeah keep laughing past-Martian, it did go down like that. I thought there had to be some deeper reason he was there, like setting the groundwork to appear again later, because why would he be pulled away from a pretty conclusive happy ending in Rebels just for some two-bit meaningless cameo in a show he had no connection to? Where's the logic in that? How does that make any sense? But no. That's all it was. And on damn top of it all, Kallus was never mentioned once in Ahsoka. Not once. Zeb is inexplicably away from Lira San with a job training recruits with no explanation as to how he decided to do it or how long he's been doing it or if Kallus is with him or even if Kallus is still alive.
All that time and effort was put the hell into trying to create a version of Zeb post-Rebels where he is explicitly not living on Lira San and there is no Kallus by his side.
... and then Fennec got to make exagerated funny faces at the baby while Boba and Din figured themselves out after the exhibit.
I'd thought I was going to miss the deadline for the @bobadinweek's AU bingo with this one since it got away from me a little, but with the extension I'm more than on time! So here is the Soulmate sqaure fill for my card - I know it's pushing more of a 'reincarnation AU' possibility, but I don't have that on my card, and those two are related anyway. So technically I doubled down on it 😌
