Senate Elections 2024!
At the Start of the year I made a post about the US Senate elections this year. However a lot has changed since then (not just that) So I thought I'd make a new version.
Tumblr media
How successful a President Kamala Harris is able to be will come down to who controls congress. A Republican House or Senate could frustrate many of the important agenda items Harris wants to get done. Also the Senate is key to appointing Judges, right now many America's rights are being decided in the courts where Trump and Republican appointed Judges are consistently ruling against trans rights, voting rights, abortion rights etc. Any hope of a smooth pipe line of Harris judges depends on the Senate. Senate Control hangs by a knife's edge, there are 6 soft blue seats we have to hold onto, two swing seats Dems are defending, and two soft red seats we can pick up, you can make all the difference!
If you don't live in one of the states below but want to help, you can Donate to the DSCC or sign up to phone bank with the Democrats
Arizona
Ruben Gallego (Hold)
Tumblr media
Winning Arizona will be key to the outcome of the 2024 Presidential election. Congressman Ruben Gallego was a leader in the effort to replace Democrat turned Independent Senator Sinema with a real Democrat. Gallego was raised by a single mother, went to Harvard, and is a Marine combat vet. First elected to the Arizona State House in 2010 he advocated for immigrant rights. He was elected to Congress in 2014. Since coming to Congress Gallego has been a progressive voice, gaining attention for blunt attacks on the Trump administration. Republicans nominated around former TV host and conspiracy theorist Kari Lake. Lake rose to become a Republican star by supporting conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and Covid. Lake ran for Arizona Governor in 2022 and after losing to Democrat Katie Hobbs she refused to concede and still maintains she won and is the rightful Governor of Arizona. Lake has called Democrats "Demonic", totally opposes abortion in all cases, and is the self proclaimed "Trump candidate". If Gallego is elected not only will he be a reliable Democratic vote and Progressive vote in the Senate, he'd be the first Hispanic to represent Arizona in the Senate, ever. If you live in Arizona please make sure you vote, but more if you have any time between now and November, volunteer to help Gallego! and if you don't live there you can still give.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Florida
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (Flip)
Tumblr media
Florida's current Republican senator, Rick Scott, has spent his first term in Congress being one of the most extreme Republicans. Scott has pushed to defund education, roll back Social Security and Medicare, attacked trans rights, and wants to ban Abortion in all cases. Rick Scott is the wealthiest member of Congress and also was in involved in the largest case of Medicare fraud in US history. Scott challenged Mitch McConnell for the leadership of the Senate GOP getting support from extremists like Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and JD Vance, and now is running to replace McConnell. Scott won in 2018 with less than 10,000 votes. The Democrat is former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. When she was elected to Congress in 2018 she became the first South American born immigrant and first person of Ecuadorian heritage to be elected to Congress. In Congress Mucarsel-Powell was a member of the Progressive caucus, she fought to expand medicare, and secured $200 million for Everglades restoration. After a narrow defeat in 2020 Mucarsel-Powell joined the gun control advocacy group Giffords to fight for gun control a personal issue for her. If you're in Florida please make sure you vote, and volunteer to help remove one of the most extreme Senators. Everyone else give what you can.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE
Maryland
Angela Alsobrooks (Hold)
Tumblr media
Maryland is normally an easy Democratic win but two-term Republican former Governor Larry Hogan announced he was running, turning what should be an easy race for Democrats into a real fight. Hogan is trying to sell himself as a Trump septic moderate, but he's endorsed by Trump, JD Vance, and Mitch McConnell. Hogan spent his final year as Governor frustrating Democratic efforts to protect abortion, legalize marijuana, and take serious action on climate change. In the Senate he'll be a vote in the pocket of Republican leadership. The Democrat is Angela Alsobrooks, the executive of Prince George's County. As County Executive Alsobrooks got high marks for her response to Covid. She's worked to expand pre-K to all students in the county, as well expanding health care access including mental health access. As a candidate for Senate Alsobrooks has been a strong supporter of Abortion rights, pushing for more action on gun violence, and has been a strong supporter of LGBT rights her whole political life. After Vice-President Harris left the Senate there were no black women represented in the upper house. Together with Delaware's Lisa Blunt Rochester Alsobrooks could make history, if both are elected this year it'll be the first time ever that two black women have served at the same time in the US Senate. If you're in Maryland make sure to get out to vote, to volunteer as much as you're able, and everyone give whatever you can to protect abortion rights and support progressive black women!
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Michigan
Elissa Slotkin (Hold)
Tumblr media
Michigan is a critical 2024 swing state. Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin is running to replace retiring Senator Debbie Stabenow. Slotkin worked for the CIA, the State Department, and the Department of Defense rising to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Obama. She is fluent in Arabic and Swahili. First elected to Congress in 2018 Slotkin won and has been re-elected repeatedly to represent a swing district, becoming the first Democrat elected there since 1998. In Congress Slotkin has supported gun control, and ending money in politics. Her national security experience made her an important voice pushing for the first impeachment of Trump in 2019. She gained national attention for holding open town halls on her choice to vote to impeach Trump facing down Republican protesters. In her run for Senate Slotkin has continued to stress her support for gun legislation, ending money in politics and stresses protecting the right to choose. Republicans have consolidated around former Congressman Mike Rogers. Rogers retired to Florida after his time in the House only moving back last year to run for Senate. During his time in Congress Rogers tried twice to ban the abortion pill mifepristone. Rogers is endorsed by Trump and controversial former Detroit Police Chief James Craig. If you're in Michigan vote to protect the right to choose and stop a Trump Republican, and make sure to volunteer as much as you can, and every give what you can to help win this key swing state.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Montana
Jon Tester (Re-elect)
Tumblr media
Normally deep red Montana represents one of the hardest Senate seats for Democrats to hang onto. Jon Tester is the only Democrat to hold statewide office or represent Montana in Congress. Elected narrowly in 2006 Tester has beaten the odds time and time again and is trying again. In his time in the Senate Tester has been a consistent voice for small farmers and local businesses against big corporations and mega companies. Tester has fought against corruption and for openness, and is one of the most effective members of Congress consistently having the most bills past into law of any member of Congress. Republicans have embraced an ultra wealthy former CEO, Tim Sheehy as their nominee to unseat Tester. Sheehy was caught lying about being shot in Afghanistan as a Navy SEAL, when he in fact accidentally shot himself at Glacier National Park in Montana. Past his embarrassing war wound story, Sheehy is an ultra rich CEO who has spent 2 million of his own money on the race so far. Sheehy has been endorsed by Trump, and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Sheehy wants to ban all abortion, repeal Obamacare, and remove any limits on gun ownership, despite having shot himself. If you can only donate to two races, this and Ohio are the most important, if you can only donate to one? flip a coin. Everyone in Montana make sure you get out to vote and just as important volunteer, there will be no Presidential or Governor or any other campaign to help Tester along its all on him, and everyone give what you can.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Nevada
Jacky Rosen (Re-elect)
Tumblr media
Nevada is a critical swing state in the 2024 election. Jacky Rosen first came to Congress flipping a Red House seat in 2016 and then unseating a Republican Senator in 2018. Since coming to Congress Rosen has been a champion for turning Nevada into a clean energy leader. She's also has helped pass gun control legislation and is a fierce advocate the right to choose. Republicans have nominated Army veteran and conservative influencer Sam Brown to run against Rosen. Brown unsuccessfully ran in a Republican primary for the Texas State House in 2014, and for the Republican nomination for US Senate in Nevada in 2022. Now with the endorsement of Donald Trump Brown finally managed to win a primary. Sam Brown is the only Republican candidate Trump mentioned in his 92 minute convention speech at the RNC. Brown wants to roll back Nevada's Green energy progress and boost fossil fuels, he also wants to roll back any and all restrictions on guns. If you're in Nevada make sure to get out and vote, and volunteer to keep this key Senate seat out of the hands of a Trump Republican. Everyone else give what you can.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Ohio
Sherrod Brown (Re-elect)
Tumblr media
Ohio is one of the hardest senate seats for Democrats to defend this year. Senator Sherrod Brown has been the only statewide elected Democrat in Ohio since 2011. First elected to Congress in 1992 and to the Senate in 2006 Brown has defied the odds by being a popular Progressive in an ever more Red state. Brown consistently ranks along side Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren as one of the most left wing Senators. From his first days in Congress Brown refused the Congressional health plan, repeatedly introducing single payer health care bills going back to the 1990s. Brown has been a proud and consistent ally of Unions, particularly the UAW, and tough on banks and big business. Republicans have nominated used car salesman and crypto enthusiast Bernie Moreno. Moreno is a weirdo, he accused LGBT activists of a "radical agenda of indoctrination" and then got caught looking for "men for 1-on-1 sex" on AdultFriendFinder. Moreno supports a federal abortion ban, has been sued by former employees for wage thief and discrimination, and wants to end birth right citizenship. Moreno has been endorsed by Turning Point USA, Donald Trump Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, Kari Lake, Ted Cruz, JD Vance, and of course Donald Trump. If you're in Ohio make sure you get out to vote, and volunteer to support a great Senator. Everyone outside of Ohio give what you can, if you can only donate to two campaigns this and Montana need it the most, if you can only give to one, flip a coin.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Pennsylvania
Bob Casey (Re-elect)
Tumblr media
Pennsylvania is a key swing state in the 2024 Presidential election. Bob Casey was first elected to the Senate in 2006 defeating right wing extremist Rick Santorum by the largest margin in state history. Starting his career as a moderate to conservative Democrat Casey has become a strong advocate for gun control since 2012 voting for every gun control measure to reach the Senate. Casey also made strong opposition to the Trump administration a cornerstone of time in office. While personally pro-life, Casey has endorsed the right to choose and voted codify abortion rights. Casey has been a leading critic of corporate greed during the inflation and authored a bill to ban shrinkflation. Republicans have nominated multi-millionaire former CEO and Bush administration official David McCormick. McCormick served in the Treasury under George W. Bush, his wife worked at the NSC under Trump. He lived in Westport, Connecticut as the CEO of an investment management firm, till he decided he wanted to be a US Senator in 2022 and he moved to Pennsylvania. He lost the 2022 GOP primary to Dr. Oz and is giving another go in 2024. McCormick is endorsed by George W. Bush, Mitch McConnell, Rick Santorum, Karl Rove, Doug Mastriano, Jim Jordan, and of course Donald Trump. If you're in Pennsylvania make sure you get out to vote, and to volunteer to keep Pennsylvania blue. Everyone else give what you can.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Texas
Colin Allred (Flip)
Tumblr media
Texas Senator Ted Cruz might be the most hated man in politics. Since his election in 2012 Cruz has been on a single minded mission to be totally unlikeable. Shutting down the government under President Obama, endorsing Trump after Trump insulted his wife, supporting Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election, fleeing his state to go on vacation in Mexico after an ice storm and power outage (and abandoning his dog), blaming the Uvalde school shooting on video games, yes Ted Cruz really has done it all. Cruz is one of the most right wing members of the Senate and a loud Trump supporter. Last election in 2018 Cruz barely hung onto his seat and Democrats are hoping with 6 more years of radicalism Texans are ready for change. Democrats have nominated Congressman Colin Allred. Allred is a former professional footballer, played Linebacker for the Tennessee Titans. After football Allred went to law school, and got a job with the Obama Administration. In 2018 he won an upset victory unseating an 11 term Republican in a district that had been Republican since 1968. In Congress Allred fought for gun reform, to keep down the price of proscription drugs, and invest in American infrastructure. In his run for Senate he's standing up for the right to choose against one of the most radically anti-abortion Republicans in the country. If you're in Texas make sure you vote and volunteer to give Ted Cruz the boot, and everyone give what you can to get Blue Texas.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE SHOP
Wisconsin
Tammy Baldwin (Re-elect)
Tumblr media
Wisconsin is a critical swing state in the 2024 Presidential election. Senator Tammy Baldwin is a historic trailblazer, when she was first elected to Congress in 1998 she was the first woman to ever represent Wisconsin in Congress, the first open Lesbian elected to Congress, and the first openly gay non-incumbent to be elected to Congress. She co-founded the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus. When she was elected to the US Senate in 2012 she was the first and is still the only openly gay person ever elected to the Senate. Past her advocacy for LGBT rights Baldwin has been a progressive her whole time in Congress endorsing single-payer health care, and being a strong voice for abortion rights. Republicans are supporting a California bank owner and weirdo named Eric Hovde. Strange mustache owner Hovde has attacked trans kids, flip flopped on abortion (totally against, now open to some abortion), and insulted farmers as "not hardworking" and thats why the retirement age should be 72. If you're in Wisconsin make sure to vote and volunteer to protect a progressive trailblazer and stop a California weirdo banker. Everyone else give what you can.

Malachy Granger x fem!oc
Tumblr media
Warnings: age gap, smoking, swearing, suggestive but not smut
“Fuck you Avery! God-you’re so fucking clueless!” Callum shouted, his school uniform worn messily with the coller button undone and his shirt visible under his jumper. He walked backwards, facing Avery as he screamed at her.
“I’m fucking clueless? You can’t even zip up your trousers, dickhead!” Avery screamed back, causing Callum’s eyes to instantly drop to his trousers where his fly was unzipped. He rushed to zip it up.
Her short school skirt blew gently with the breeze, her school shirt that was untucked offered little protection from the cold air.
“You fucking bitch!” Callum screamed, embarrassed and angry.
Avery angrily stormed off, holding her arm high in the hair as she held up her middle finger to him.
Callum began storming after the girl with nothing but determination, eager to reach her with each angry step. His fists clenched tightly at his sides, his knuckles turning white as his fingers digged into the skin of his hand.
Malachy, who had been watching the whole ordeal, watching her, strode across the street and stopped infront of the young school boy. He placed one hand on his chest, preventing him from walking another step, the other hand was on his shoulder.
“Don’t fucking think about it.” Malachy warned, his voice cold and left no room for arguing.
The boy was young, with almost a childish face and features. Malachy towered over him easily making him more intimidating.
Callum pulled away from the unknown man roughly, he huffed before storming off in the opposite direction defeatedly.
Knowing he wouldn’t come back, Malachy turned and watched the mysterious girl striding away in the distance. Her school skirt was short, exposing her legs and her shirt was tight.
Malachy noted she wore the same uniform as Amy.
The walk from school to her house was a quick one. Avery kicked the empty beer bottles that littered the floor out of her way, walking past her dad who lay passed out on the couch, she rushed upstairs to her bedroom to change out of her school uniform.
Her dad wouldn’t care that she was mitching school, or that she had gotten another detention that she wouldn’t bother attending. He didn’t care about anything once he had his drink and weed. She was glad it was her final year at school, then she could leave this shitty town.
Avery shrugged off her school shirt, unbuttoning the buttons hurriedly. She replaced it with a black tank top, covered by a flannel. She changed out of her school skirt and into black denim shorts. She wore her black boots and a variety of long necklaces. She pulled her short blonde hair into a messy half up half down style.
She quickly left her room and hurried down the stairs. She didn’t take a second glance at her father, leaving through the door and slamming it shut after her. She hoped it would wake him but knew it wouldn’t.
Her rushed footsteps slowed down as she placed the fag between her lips. She searched her pockets before realising she had left her lighter at home. “Fuck!” She cursed.
Looking around she realised she was at the Boat Hut.
She seen a man standing near the entrance, lighting his own cigarette. Avery decided to make her own way towards him. Once she was closer she realised he was a slightly older man with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore a black leather jacket and black hoodie underneath, the hood of which was raised over his head.
Avery didn’t let her confidence falter when his eyes met hers and a smirk formed on his lips at the sight of her approaching. He blow out the smoke as his eyes trailed up and down her body.
“What can I do for you, young lady.” He spoke almost as if he were taunting her.
“Can I borrow your lighter. I left mine at home.” Avery said rather bluntly. She stared at him expectantly, Callum had ruined her mood and taken all her patience.
Malachy raised his brow teasingly, making a tsk tsk tsk sound with his mouth. “That’s not very polite.” He faked offence.
Avery stiffed a groan. “May I please borrow your lighter.” She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
Malachy took out the lighter from his trouser pocket, he held his hand out waiting for her to take it from him. When Avery reached out to take the lighter from his grasp, he pulled back his hand quickly.
“Don’t fucking roll your eyes at me.” He warned her, referring to her action moments prior. Avery stared at him intimidated. She shifted her weight onto her other foot, thinking he was angry until he brought the lighter to her mouth. He lifted her chin with his hand, lighting the cigarette for her as he watched her closely.
Avery stayed quiet, inhaling the fag gratefully.
“I seen you arguing with a boy earlier.” Malachy hummed. “Who was he?” He couldn’t resist asking her. He felt an unknown feeling building in his stomach.
Avery wanted to roll her eyes but didn’t dare, remembering his earlier warning.
“Just this boy from school.” She said vaguely.
“Is he your boyfriend?” Malachy found his breathing was heavy as he watched her inhale and exhale the smoke.
Avery looked up at him with a raised brow and smirk, her head tilted to one side. “Not anymore.”
They both felt droplets fall from the sky and land on their skin, becoming heavier by the second until it was completely pouring.
Malachy roughly pulled her by the arm and into the boat hut away from the rain and cold.
“Hey what the fuck!” Avery shouted in surprise.
“Be grateful I’m not making you stay out in the rain.” He walked closer to her. He pulled his hood down, allowing Avery to see more of his face.
Avery stepped back.
“Maybe I should have left you outside.” Malachy continued his taunts. stepping closer to her. He pulled the cigarette out of his mouth and placed it down on the ashtray on the nearest table.
Avery remained silent, taking a step back for every step he took forwards. She couldn’t deny he was good looking, mature, unlike Callum. He looked strong and masculine not short and weak. Like a proper man.
“Would you have run back to that little boyfriend of yours.” Malachy almost laughed at the thought of him. He took the cigarette out of Avery’s mouth when he was close enough. The back of Avery’s knees hit the couch, she fell onto the leather seat with Malachy standing between her legs. She couldn’t look away from him.
“Would you?” Malachy repeated. One of his hands reached down to cup her cheek, caressing the skin gently.
“No.” Avery breathed out, eyes glued to his. She became desperate to earn his attention, his touch.
Malachy hummed in approval.
“Have you ever been touched by a real man before?” He asked suddenly, his voice low and rough.
“No.” Avery confessed, she felt herself becoming aroused, hot to the touch the more he looked at her or she heard his voice.
Malachy tutted.
He lowered himself so he was kneeling inbetween her legs. Both his hands found their way to her legs, moving upwards slowly until they reached her thighs.
His touch made every hair on her body stand up. It was something she had never felt with any of the boys she had been with in the past. They were boys when he was a man. Guys her age weren’t the same.
“I can take care of you.” He whispered the promise, his hands moving up and down her legs slowly, brushing her inner thigh. “I’ll show you how a man takes care of you. How you deserve to be treated.”
Avery’s eyes fluttered shut at the sensation that flowed through her entire body to her very core. Her mouth opened slightly.
“Do you trust me.” He said lowly, stopping his movements as he leaned in closer to her.
“Yes.” Avery breathed out, aching for more.
“Good girl.”

what we know about Republicans, without a doubt, is that they will do whatever they damn well please as soon as they have the power to do so. LIke when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell took the unprecedented step of holding open a vacant Supreme Court seat for nearly a year following the 2016 death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia in order to deprive a Democratic president the opportunity to fill it. But after the 2020 death of liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, McConnell jammed through a conservative replacement just one week before the presidential election. McConnell took both radical partisan actions because he had the power to do so and given the opportunity, he will take radical partisan action once again, despite telling voters he believes abortion should be handled at the state level.
'Double trouble': GOP strategists finally admit Trump, abortion could sink their Senate hopes

NOW THAT WE DONT TALK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: yn takes a few too many shots and drunkenly tells trevor how she feels pt.7
warnings: drinking, alcohol
series masterlist
small reminder: i changed almost everything for last chap, that being said, auston steph n mitch are NOT there, i replaced them with sabrina :) (sab carp)
Tumblr media
after your small outburst towards trevor, you immediately went to the kitchen for drinks. you needed something— anything.
“you sure you want to do this honey?” sabrina asked, walking into the kitchen behind you.
you nodded heavily. “god yeah— if i face trevor again, or even jack, i want to be hammered.” you explained.
you picked up multiple bottles, examining each before settling on straight whiskey. you poured a shot, downing it quickly.
your face contorted into one of disgust as the whiskey left a burning trail down your throat. the taste stayed in your mouth.
sabrina looked at you concerned. she went to grab the bottle but you stopped her. “go party sab— ill be fine. i know this place like the back of my hand.” you told.
sabrina sighed before walking away to the main area. you poured more shots, and the number grew higher until you decided to walk away with the entire bottle in your hand.
you stumbled through the halls, not realizing someone was now slowly following you. your eyes scanned the familiar walls, pictures, doors, everything.
you took a sip of the whiskey, straight from the bottle as you walked into one of the rooms. it was jacks. you stopped in your tracks, looking at everything around you.
he still had the same picture frame you bought him, that you filled with a small collage of photos of the both of you. they were now replaced with him and his new girlfriend.
you don’t know why, but you began to cry. tears and mascara rolled down your cheeks as you kept looking around.
“what the fuck are you doing?” a voice startled you.
you jumped and turned around, seeing trevor. your tears and mascara covered face frowned more as you sipped the whiskey again.
“i was just leaving.” you muttered.
you go to walk by him but he stops you. “why are you here, bells?” he groaned.
your brows furrowed as you shoved him. “dont call me that.”
“why not? i helped coley pick it out.” he sneered.
“we arent friends anymore, trevor. dont call me bells.” you spoke.
trevor scoffed, rolling his eyes. you felt like crying more. “i hope you know i hate you.” you told.
trevors eyes widened slightly. “what?” he spoke.
you began to cry again. “i hate you, i hate you so fucking much. you were— you were supposed to be my best friend. my best friend, its not fair.”
trevor watched you in shock.
“i did— i did everything i could’ve to keep our friendship alive and well and when i try to move on, you just ruin me. its not fair trevor— i didnt do anything wrong.” you cried out.
tears ran down your flushed cheeks. mascara stained your skin along with the liquid running down your face. your hair was sticking to your face just ever so slightly.
“i just wanted to move on and i wasnt allowed to.” you sobbed. “how is that fair, trevor? how was jack allowed to move on— to cheat on me, but i can’t even attempt to.”
you sipped the whiskey again. “and this is even doing anything now.” you began to cry harder.
trevor stared, his eyes wide. you were right, you hadn’t done anything. you just wanted to finally move forward, and he didn’t let you, instead he hurt you more.
“i— i—“ trevor stumbled over his words before someone pushed him from behind him.
“the fuck did you do to her?” sabrina asked angrily. she rushed to your side, pulling you into her as she grabbed the bottle from your hands.
“i— i didnt—“ trevor kept stuttering.
sabrina glared harshly at him and shoved the whiskey bottle into his hands as she walked by him, pulling you along.
“leave her the fuck alone, zegras.”

Famous Baby Blurb (The Night Out)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You threw your head back allowing the shot of vodka to burn as it went down your throat. You giggled leaning forward, placing the glass back down on the table.
“What number is that?” Willy yelled from across the table.
“8?” You questioned turning your head to look at Auston for confirmation.
“No!” He objected. “I think it’s 9.”
“No.” You protested back. “We had four at Mitch and Steph’s, two when we first got here, and then these two.” You gestured down to the four shot glasses on the table.
“Nuh uh” Auston shook his head. “We had one in the car over here too.”
You tried to remember the car ride to the bar but it felt like it was hours ago now and impossible to recall. “It doesn’t matter, we’re still tied.”
“You can’t admit you’re wrong.” Auston crossed his arms, smirking over at you.
“Yes I can.”
“Then say it.”
“Say what?”
“Say you’re wrong and I’m right.”
“Auston,” you sighed “please just be grateful that I’m even talking to you.”
“You should be the one that’s grateful. Do you know how many girls would kill to be in your spot right now.”
“Enough for your inflated ego to talk about it.”
Auston shrugged pushing your now empty shot glasses to the edge of the table for one of the workers to pick up. “I’m just saying you should feel special.”
You let out a sarcastic laugh, “I’m (y/f/n) (y/l/n), I don’t need anyone to make me feel special.”
It was now Auston’s turn to roll his eyes, “And I’m the one with the big ego?”
“Talk to me when you’re the number one artist in the world”
“Don’t need to worry about it, I’m the number one hockey player in the world.”
“Were options limited this past year?” Your sarcastic tone and tilt of the head didn’t phase Auston.
“They actually chose me based on my skill, not me performing with autotune and short skirts.”
“Sorry what was that” you cupped your left ear “I couldn’t hear you over my auto tuned song.”
Your song that has sat at the #1 spot on the charts for the past few weeks played through the speakers. It was perfect timing. You never got used to hearing your own voice or watching other people sing along to your words, but it was also the best feeling.
You smirked as Auston got up from the table without another word knowing that you won that conversation. You hummed along as ‘Thank u, next’ slowly faded into another song.
“Here.” Auston returned to the table sitting down another shot in front of you. “To inflated egos.”
You laughed, but raised your glass with his and threw the liquid back down your throat.
The night carried on much like the beginning, but somewhere along the way you lost count of your shots, but it got to a point where you no longer cared. You were beyond drunk, but this was the first time in a while you were actually able to enjoy yourself.
Your world tour was about to start up and you knew this was the only break you’d be having for a while. You planned to leave Toronto the next day, go back home to spend time with your family for a few days and then tour starts.
“She’s hammered.” Justin watched as you swayed to the music, holding onto Steph.
“At least they’re having fun.” Morgan commented, also watching all the girls giggle and dance together.
“How many shots did you guys end up taking?”
“Twelve, but she thinks it’s higher.” Auston explained, “she’s been cut off since midnight, I payed the bartender to replace all of her drinks and shots with water.”
Both Morgan and Justin shared a look and then put their attention onto Auston.
“What?” Auston asked noticing the way they were looking at him.
“That’s just a nice thing to do for someone you hate.” Morgan shrugged not wanting to make it a big deal.
“I figured her getting alcohol poisoning would put a hold on the whole tour thing. Consider it community service.”
“Well, thank you for your service.” Morgan chuckled standing up, “but I’m getting Tessa and we’re going to go home before she damages something.”
As morgan approached the group of girls to grab his wife you all immediately began booing and begging him to let Tessa stay a little longer. When it became clear your pleas weren’t going to work you all made your way back to the group.
You attempted to place your glass down on the table but it slipped out of your hand and landed with a thud on the ground.
“Okay.” Justin picked up the glass. “That’s it your done for the night.”
“No.” You pouted crossing your arms. “I out drank Auston, so now I’m celebrating.” You refused to take no for an answer leaning across the table to grab another glass.
“Nope.” Auston picked up the glass before you could reach it.
“Auston.” You glared at him from across the table.
“You won, there’s nothing else to prove, time to go home.” Auston leaned back, knowing there would be no argument and that his word would be final.
“Don’t talk to me like im a child.”
“Then stop acting like one.”
“Justin.” You huffed and turned too quickly toward your best friend causing you to stumble, but the mishap didn’t stop you, “Tell Auston to shut up.”
But before he could respond Morgan and Tessa were back, “We have a problem. Papparazi are outside and they aren’t leaving until you two come out. Morgan pointed toward you and Justin.
“She can’t even walk straight right now.” Justin pointed at you leaning against the table for support.
“Okay then what do we do because we have about 30 minutes until this place closes.” Willy reminded all of you looking down at his watch.
“I can call and get one of my guys to pick us up out front.” Justin gestured between himself and Hailey. “But I’m not letting her go out there like this.” He gestured toward you.
“Tell Mike to come around to the back.” Auston learned your drivers name from earlier when he dropped you all off at the bar. You insisted he take you, not trusting anyone else. “I’ve got an idea.”
Once the plan was set into place, Morgan, Tessa, Mitch, Steph, Willy, and a few of the younger guys all left first. Justin and Hailey prepared to leave next, preparing you as well without you knowing.
“Trust me. You guys go out the front and at the same time I’ll take her out the back, they’ll never know.” Auston reassured Justin.
“She’s gonna fight you, once she realizes what’s going on.”
“I can handle her.”
As Justin and Hailey walked toward the front door you frowned realizing that they were actually leaving not going to get another round like you thought.
Auston picked you up and placed you over his shoulder before you could react. You immediately began hitting his back and yelling at him to put you down. He got you to the back where Mike was waiting and placed you in the car getting in after.
“Don’t ever do that again!” You yelled stressing the first two words.
“Don’t worry, I don’t plan on it.” Auston put his hands up in defense.
“First off, I dont need you man handling me to get me out of a bar!” You yelled throwing your arms in the air, “Secondly, why did you wake him up?” Your finger flew toward the front seat.
Mike had been working as your driver since the beginning and more often than not where you went he followed. However, you never liked to make him stay up late just for you.
“You couldn’t stand up straight, let alone walk.” Auston fired back his voice also rising to match yours. “And it was either wake him up or your picture would be on the front page of every magazine tomorrow morning, drunk and stumbling.” Auston didn’t expect you to be overjoyed with how things went down, but he didn’t intend for you to be so ungrateful.
You knew you were wrong, but being stubborn was something you were good at. And you weren’t ready to apologize yet, so you crossed your arms and shifted your body so you were facing the window.
You weren’t sure if it was the alcohol or all the bumps in the Toronto streets but you soon began to feel sick.
“Mike, can I please have a bag?” You asked waiting for the plastic bag to be handed back. As soon as it was you were throwing up into it.
You felt hands that could only belong to Auston bundle your hair into a ponytail as he held it out of your face. You wished you only got sick once, but unfortunately it was three more times before you sat back up. You tied up the bag and placed it on the ground and wiped your mouth.
“Thank you.” You mumbled as Auston let go of your hair and sat back in his seat.
“Don’t mention it.” He replied. The car fell back into silence and that’s how it remained for the rest of the drive.
The next morning you left Toronto very early, but not before you dropped off a gift at Scotiabank arena. Auston arrived to afternoon practice expecting it to be a tough one, but what he didn’t expect was the envelope waiting in his locker for him. It was blank except for one sentence ‘thank you and I’m sorry’
He opened up the envelope and smiled at the contents. Inside were six vip tickets to your show in Arizona along with backstage passes.
It was over three months ago when Auston explained that his little cousins loved you and wanted to attend your concert but it sold out before they could buy tickets, of course this admission was also followed by a jab about him not understanding why anyone would want to see you. But you remembered the conversation and figured it was the start to an apology.
He tucked the envelope into his bag and sent you a quick text. ‘Thanks, I’ll see you in Arizona’

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
September 14, 2024
Heather Cox Richardson
Sep 15, 2024
Five years ago, on September 15, 2019, after about a six-week hiatus during the summer, I wrote a Facebook post that started:
“Many thanks to all of you who have reached out to see if I'm okay. I am, indeed (aside from having been on the losing end of an encounter with a yellow jacket this afternoon!). I've been moving, setting up house, and finishing the new book. Am back and ready to write, but now everything seems like such a dumpster fire it's very hard to know where to start. So how about a general overview of how things at the White House look to me, today....”
I wrote a review of Trump’s apparent mental decline amidst his faltering presidency, stonewalling of investigations of potential criminal activity by him or his associates, stacking of the courts, and attempting to use the power of the government to help his 2020 reelection.
Then I noted that the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), had written a letter to the acting director of national intelligence, Joseph Maguire, on Friday, September 13, telling Maguire he knew that a whistleblower had filed a complaint with the inspector general of the intelligence community, who had deemed the complaint “credible” and "urgent.” This meant that the complaint was supposed to be sent on to the House Intelligence Committee. But, rather than sending it to the House as the law required, Maguire had withheld it. Schiff’s letter told Maguire that he’d better hand it over. Schiff speculated that Maguire was covering up evidence of crimes by the president or his closest advisors.
And I added: “None of this would fly in America if the Senate, controlled by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, were not aiding and abetting him.”
“This is the story of a dictator on the rise,” I wrote, “taking control of formerly independent branches of government, and using the power of his office to amass power.”
Readers swamped me with questions. So I wrote another post answering them and trying to explain the news, which began breaking at a breathtaking pace.
And so these Letters from an American were born.
In the five years since then, the details of the Ukraine scandal—the secret behind the whistleblower complaint in Schiff’s letter—revealed that then-president Trump was running his own private foreign policy to strong-arm Ukraine into helping his reelection campaign. That effort brought to light more of the story of Russian support for Trump’s 2016 campaign, which until Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine seemed to be in exchange for lifting sanctions the Obama administration imposed against Russia after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014.
The February 2022 invasion brought renewed attention to the Mariupol Plan, confirmed by Trump’s 2016 campaign advisor Paul Manafort, that Russia expected a Trump administration to permit Russian president Vladimir Putin to take over eastern Ukraine.
The Ukraine scandal of 2019 led to Trump’s first impeachment trial for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, then his acquittal on those charges and his subsequent purge of career government officials, whom he replaced with Trump loyalists.
Then, on February 7, just two days after Senate Republicans acquitted him, Trump picked up the phone and called veteran journalist Bob Woodward to tell him there was a deadly new virus spreading around the world. It was airborne, he explained, and was five times “more deadly than even your strenuous flus.” “This is deadly stuff,” he said. He would not share that information with other Americans, though, continuing to play down the virus in hopes of protecting the economy.
More than a million of us did not live through the ensuing pandemic.
We have, though, lived through the attempts of the former president to rig the 2020 election, the determination of American voters to make their voices heard, the Black Lives Matter protests after the murder of George Floyd, the election of Democrat Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, and the subsequent refusal of Trump and his loyalists to accept Biden’s win.
And we have lived through the unthinkable: an attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob determined to overrule the results of an election and install their own candidate in the White House. For the first time in our history, the peaceful transfer of power was broken. Republican senators saved Trump again in his second impeachment trial, and rather than disappearing after the inauguration of President Biden, Trump doubled down on the Big Lie that he had been the true winner of the 2020 presidential election.
We have seen the attempts of Biden and the Democratic-controlled Congress to move America past this dark moment by making coronavirus vaccines widely available and passing landmark legislation to rebuild the economy. The American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act spurred the economy to become the strongest in the world, proving that the tested policy of investing in ordinary Americans worked far better than post-1980 neoliberalism ever did. After Republicans took control of the House in 2023, we saw them paralyze Congress with infighting that led them, for the first time in history, to throw out their own speaker, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
We have watched as the Supreme Court, stacked by Trump with religious extremists, has worked to undermine the proven system in place before 1981. It took away the doctrine that required courts to defer to government agencies’ reasonable regulations and opened the way for big business to challenge those regulations before right-wing judges. It ended affirmative action in colleges and universities, and it overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision recognizing the constitutional right to abortion.
And then we watched the Supreme Court hand down the stunning decision of July 1, 2024, that overturned the fundamental principle of the United States of America that no one is above the law. In Donald J. Trump v. U.S., the Supreme Court ruled that a president could not be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his official duties.
We saw the reactionary authoritarianism of the former president’s supporters grow stronger. In Republican-dominated states across the country, legislatures passed laws to suppress Democratic voting and to put the counting of votes into partisan hands. Trump solidified control over the Republican Party and tightened his ties to far-right authoritarians and white supremacists. Republicans nominated him to be their presidential candidate in 2024 to advance policies outlined in Project 2025 that would concentrate power in the president and impose religious nationalism on the country. Trump chose as his running mate religious extremist Ohio senator J.D. Vance, putting in line for the presidency a man whose entire career in elected office consisted of the eighteen months he had served in the Senate.
In that first letter five years ago, I wrote: “So what do those of us who love American democracy do? Make noise. Take up oxygen…. Defend what is great about this nation: its people, and their willingness to innovate, work, and protect each other. Making America great has never been about hatred or destruction or the aggregation of wealth at the very top; it has always been about building good lives for everyone on the principle of self-determination. While we have never been perfect, our democracy is a far better option than the autocratic oligarchy Trump is imposing on us.”
And we have made noise, and we have taken up oxygen. All across the country, people have stepped up to defend our democracy from those who are open about their plans to destroy it and install a dictator. Democrats and Republicans as well as people previously unaligned, we have reiterated why democracy matters, and in this election where the issue is not policy differences but the very survival of our democracy, we are working to elect Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota governor Tim Walz.
If you are tired from the last five years, you have earned the right to be.
And yet, you are still here, reading.
I write these letters because I love America. I am staunchly committed to the principle of human self-determination for people of all races, genders, abilities, and ethnicities, and I believe that American democracy could be the form of government that comes closest to bringing that principle to reality. And I know that achieving that equality depends on a government shaped by fact-based debate rather than by extremist ideology and false narratives.
And so I write.
But I have come to understand that I am simply the translator for the sentiments shared by millions of people who are finding each other and giving voice to the principles of democracy. Your steadfast interest, curiosity, critical thinking, and especially your kindness—to me and to one another—illustrate that we have not only the power, but also the passion, to reinvent our nation.
To those who read these letters, send tips, proofread, criticize, comment, argue, worry, cheer, award medals (!), and support me and one another: I thank you for bringing me along on this wild, unexpected, exhausting, and exhilarating journey.

Looks like Mitch it stepping down from leadership in November. Of course he'll be serving out the rest of his term until January because Satan himself would have to shuffle this absolute sack of bones and slime off this mortal coil before he gives up ALL his power. Wonder which unholy minion of Dump will take over for him...
Oh man, Mitch must be like, actively dissolving into a puddle of toxic black slime if he's remotely willing to step down/remove himself from power in the slightest degree before he literally dies at a press conference. Which, for the record, I think he should do. It would be hilarious and literally the least of what this country deserves in repayment for all the evil he's been responsible for wreaking on it.
We should also not forget, however, that Mitch is likewise well aware that his brand of hyper-competent, surface-level respectable evil is toast, and he's obligingly getting out of the way for the full-on frothing-mouth looney MAGAs to take over. We can at least hope that his replacement will be so busy sucking up to Trump and saying insane things that they'll have no ability to actually use the system and work behind the scenes to do evil things, as good ol' Addison Mitchell McConnell III has been so good at doing for his entire tenure. Die in a fire after flipping Trump both middle fingers, fuckwad. You're already on your way out, you've got nothing to lose. But will you? No.

The Congressional Black Caucus, Fmr President Clinton, Fmr Secretary of State Clinton, and Mitch Landreiu (who is the Senior Advisor to the US President for Infrastructure Coordination--yes I had to google him too) have all endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nom.
Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer and California Gov Gavin Newsom have come out and said they will stand down and not challenge her at the convention.
Marc E. Elias (who apparently is a lawyer you can google cause I had no idea who he was before today) tweeted that the Democratic nominee for president will be on all 50 state ballots and that there is no legal case to keep them off the ballot despite Speaker Mike Johnson threatening to sue to keep Biden's replacement off the ballots if Biden drops out.
So let's take today to scream, to rage, to laugh at the fact that Biden waited until after the RNC to step down so they spent their whole convention raging on a guy who wouldn't be Trump's opponent. And then tomorrow...let's get to work. Cause it looks like the Democrats are coming together, now we need to make sure the voters come to the table too.

South Park Filler Guide - Season 7
Link for Season 1  Link for Season 2 Link for Season 3 Link for Season 4 Link for Season 5 Link for Season 6
The classifications are CANON (an episode with major storylines present), LORE (in which we get significant backstory or world building, but could be skippable)  and FILLER (completely skippable episodic storytelling, not connected to overarching story arcs)
PLS my analysis will have spoilers, if you’re a first time viewer, just scroll to the bottom and read the list and only read full text if you are familiar with the content of the show already! Some of you will be like: "Last time you cared so much for production order, what happened with that?" And to that I respond: "Trey and Matt realized that Cancelled would be a great season premiere, and by the time they got to I'm a Little Bit Country, they already had enough time to change it a bit to make that one the 100th episode special. But it won't matter anyway, since if you follow my list, you won't see either!" S7E1 Cancelled is LORE
Tumblr media
The revelation that the main characters' home planet is just part of a simulation would be for sure a huge canon reveal, wouldn't it? But in South Park it's just another schoolday. And everything is forgotten by the end. S7E2 Krazy Kripples is CANON
Tumblr media
Why, you may ask, and it's a simple fact really. Jimmy happened. He was supposed to be a one-shot in S5, but he was so good of a character, that he returned. And in S6 he returned again and again, having retconned as a South Park citizen and now we finally meet his family AND a major status quo shift happens, where he is now good friends with Timmy. Also, no way to explain around this... Saddam is somehow back from heaven. S7E3 Toilet Paper is CANON
Tumblr media
Yes, you heard it here first, folks. After S6 ended, Kenny is back as the fourth friend, but the friend dynamics have changed quite a bit. And since Cancelled is pretty much an episode of lost memories, this is the one to fill the bill. Good boy Kyle and antagonist Eric are the two end point of the spectrum now, and expect Stan and Kenny to be either indifferent or torn between them. S7E4 I'm a Little Bit Country is FILLER
Tumblr media
No 100th episode celebration in my guide! Well, maybe later, we see what our 100th canon episode will be. As for now, USA is being the USA and the kids did their homework. S7E5 Fat Butt and Pancake Head is CANON
Tumblr media
One of the most interesting characters in the series is Mitch Conner. Not just in the series, he's an anti-hero like no other. And unlike many famous grifters and con-mans, he's disguised as a child's hand! S7E6 Lil' Crime Stoppers is FILLER
Tumblr media
While Broflovski may be a good cop, he won't stay one for long... Imagine if Trey and Matt's original season 7 plan was in action (They wanted Kenny to stay dead and the boys would replace him with another character for every half season), if Tolkien was in this one with them it would be super canon, as it stands now... It's the fillest fillering to ever fill, the void between Barbrady and Yates. S7E7 Red Man's Greed is FILLER
Tumblr media
For an episode the town faces an epidemic, in which they only have a 98 percent to live! I also really liked the scene with the four boys grouping with Butters, Tweek, Jimmy and Timmy, basically their closest friends as of now, and I bet Alex did like that too. S7E8 South Park is Gay is LORE
Tumblr media
Kyle has trouble following fads and Herbert wants to stand out from the crowd. The fad helped Craig and Tweek to express themselves while the other boys were just trying to be popular. Crab people exist as an actual menace, however later they will be relegated to fantasy jokes. S7E9 Christian Rock Hard is FILLER
Tumblr media
Harrison Yates appears as an FBI agent, but I'd honestly consider it of early bird cameo, not a significant story detail. S7E10 Grey Dawn is FILLER
Tumblr media
Elderly drivers will still seldom show up. S7E11 Casa Bonita is FILLER
Tumblr media
Doesn't seem to have much consequences. Although the Kyle-Eric-Butters dynamic is interesting to see! S7E12 All About Mormons is LORE
Tumblr media
LORE by technicality! Joseph Smith is a member of the Super Best Friends, and this is his origin story. Gary and his family disappears as a filler family should, so this was a though one. S7E13 Butt Out is CANON
Tumblr media
Look, Rob Reiner will be a huge part of a villain organization 7 seasons later, so while he is defeated this time, he will return! S7E14 Raisins is CANON
Tumblr media
This is the episode that introduces the goth kids and Stan's friendship with them (something that will matter in the long run), Raisins and my favorite character ever, Harriet Biggle! Wendy also breaks up with Stan and starts dating Tolkien! S7E15 Christmas in Canada is CANON
Tumblr media
We learn of Ike's biological parents and if that's not enough, the boys defeat Saddam Hussein for once and for all (who went through hell and heaven back to Earth). And there's the elephant in the room. Scott. Answer A: He's the antagonist of Terrance and Phillip, so their spin-off episode was extremely important canon material! Answer B: All the Canadians are friendly expect for one dude named Scott, who happens to be a stand-in for the Wicked Witch. If you ask me, the second answer is funnier, and I'll stand by it.
SPOILER-FREE RUNDOWN
Again, CANON means you should watch it, FILLER means you can skip it, LORE is somewhere in-between, any episode with the LORE label will have an explanation that helps you decide if you should include it or not. Mark Sumner at Daily Kos:
President Joe Biden loves bipartisanship. He loves it in ways that have long frustrated his progressive supporters. His 35 years in the Senate gave him an enormous fondness for the cut and thrust of beating out a compromise and a lasting image of the chamber as the final stronghold of maintaining political comity in the face of disagreement.
The Senate as Biden likes to envision it doesn’t exist. It likely never did. However, even when only a handful of Republicans have signed on, Biden has still insisted on calling his infrastructure and CHIPS bills “bipartisan legislation.” And when it came to providing the funding that kept supplies flowing to Ukraine in the face of an illegal Russian invasion, Biden got a genuine bipartisan majority in the Senate. Americans in and out of government say they want more bipartisanship. Biden wants to give it to them, even now. But as Republicans scramble to pick a replacement for outgoing Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, there are three big demands on the table: get rid of the seniority system for committee assignments, impose a term limit on leadership positions, and never, ever compromise. The death of bipartisanship is a base requirement.
When future histories are written, assuming that they are, it’s safe to say that McConnell will not be remembered fondly. Whether it’s his cowardice in failing to hold Donald Trump to account, or his work in destroying democracy in general and the judiciary in particular, with his spectacular double betrayal of tradition that gave Trump two undeserved additional seats on the Supreme Court.  Just like Trump, McConnell’s political history has largely involved showing that even when he seems to have found the bottom, there is always something lower.  But even McConnell could occasionally be found on the right side of history—like on that Ukraine bill. The guy who has proudly called himself the “grim reaper” of bills, the one most responsible for converting the Senate into the palace of eternal filibuster, where nothing moves without 60 votes, is now seen as too accommodating.
If the growing MAGA faction gets its way, any McConnell replacement will be 0% compromise 100% of the time. As Politico reports, three candidates are vying for McConnell’s job: John Cornyn, Rick Scott, and John Thune.
Mitch McConnell’s replacement as Republican Senate leader will likely be more in tune with the MAGA movement, especially if Rick Scott is the one chosen.

Kaiju Weeks in Review (September 10-30, 2023)
Tumblr media
I adore Godzilla Final Wars, but it's a movie with an identity crisis, unsure whether it wants to be headlining a Toho Champion Festival or mesmerizing American teenagers at a mid-aughts multiplex. @spacehunter-m's Final Wars 2004: The Year We Make Corn-Tack gives it a strong tug in the first direction, whittling the runtime down to 77 minutes and replacing most of the music and sound effects. She was inspired by Space Warriors 2000, of all things; as she put it, both films are "largely comprised of nonstop, monotonous action." As in that bizarro Ultraman compilation film, the kaiju trash-talk each other. It makes you wonder why Ryuhei Kitamura didn't at least bring back the speech bubbles from Godzilla vs. Gigan. Kaiju fan edits are rare, and this is in a class all by itself. Download it here.

Shigeru Kayama's novelizations of Godzilla (1954) and Godzilla Raids Again are out—hopefully the first of many to come. My copy only arrived on Saturday, so I haven't had the chance to read the whole thing yet, but I've made it through Godzilla. It's interesting to see Kayama, who wrote the initial treatment, take another swing at the story after the film was finished. He puts back moments like Godzilla eating a cow and attacking a lighthouse, and is also more overt with the wartime allusions. There's an incredible moment where Dr. Yamane muses that studying Godzilla and learning his secrets could be Japan's way of redeeming itself after "caus[ing] a great deal of trouble to people throughout the world." Note that these are novella-length, so much less in-depth than the novelizations of American Godzilla films you might be used to (Godzilla Raids Again is less than 80 pages). The book ends with an afterword by translator Jeffrey Angles contextualizing the tales.

Godzilla: War for Humanity continues to be a standout IDW miniseries. There's a new and very weird monster in the second issue, plus a no-nonsense Mothra (she tries to recruit Godzilla to fight Zoospora by shooting him in the back of the head and dragging him into the ocean in front of Minilla).
I've also got to mention the solicitation for another Godzilla Rivals installment, due December 20. Nola Pfau is writing, Megan Huang is illustrating.
Jen Onça is not excited to start her new, fast-paced fast-food career at Minilla Burger, but she'd much prefer a mundane day to the sudden return of Megalon! The monster brings destruction, trapping Jen in a forgotten lab deep beneath the restaurant with only the half-built form of Jet Jaguar to help her get out! She must repair the robotic defender to save herself and the city, but first she needs to escape the rubble trapping her in this tense adventure!

Yuzo the Biggest Battle in Tokyo, Yoshikazu Ishii's follow-up to Attack of the Giant Teacher, has also been picked up by SRS Cinema. No release details yet. I can't really speak to the film either, since it screened at the same time as Yumiko Shaku's panel at G-Fest, but as you can see from the poster, it's set during the pandemic.

The GAMERA -Rebirth- Gyaos has joined Godzilla Battle Line as an unusual sort of swarm unit. Your first summon of the match calls forth two sub-adults, and by the fifth summon you're sending out two sub-adults and three adults, still for four energy. They're probably the best swarm in the game, though still highly vulnerable to AOE units like Godzilla '01. I'm having fun with them in the Challenge Battles.

Notzilla, one of the sharpest kaiju comedies out there, is unexpectedly getting the graphic novel treatment. Mitch Teemley is adapting his own screenplay, with art by Zumart Putra. The comic is already finished, although I'm not clear on how folks who didn't back the Kickstarter (which wrapped on September 11) will get it. Useless trivia: the terrific cover above (one of four) is by Ben Dunn, who wrote the How to Draw Manga book I poured over in middle school.

After Troll shattered Netflix streaming records (according to Netflix), it's not super surprising that the company wants a sequel. Priority one: coming up with a title that's not Troll 2. Screenwriter Espen Aukan and director Roar Uthaug will both return.

Toy highlights of the past few weeks:
After confusing everyone by teasing its silhouette the day before April Fools', Tamashii has fully unveiled an S.H.Monsterarts Godzilla '72, a rare Showa figure from the line. It comes with two heads, one of them bloodied (see above). Due at the end of February.
After finally running out of ways to repaint their mold of Hedorah's Perfect Stage, Bandai is making a Movie Monster Series figure of the kaiju's Landing Stage. A Godzilla Store exclusive, it'll be released October 25.
After over two years, Funko is releasing a trio of Godzilla Singular Point Pops. Hopefully they go all-out with this show—it's not like there's any other plausible way for a Satomi Kanahara figure to exist.
