Basically I had some food 2day
Fitbit says I have another 600 calories available, but I'm not going to eat all of them. I always feel like the more "extra" I have the more successful I am.
I had:
Sweet matcha milk 315
Banana 88
Egg nog 340
Tilapia 270
Broccoli 84
Cold cocoa (japanese) idk
Black cocoa cigar cookies idk
I feel pretty good today. I know it's actaully less than 600 cal left, bc of the cocoa and cigar cookies, but I'm not exactly sure. I've logged about 1100 cal, with 83 grams of protein. I'll be really pleased if I can hit 100 today :)
I plan to go to the gym, I want to start push pull legs because it seems more doable than the 4 Day split like I was doing b4.
I was doing:
Back and bis
Chest and tris
Shoulders and abs
Legs
This worked well and I got surprising gains esp in my legs, but a 3 day spilt seems easier to manage. Only 3 days in the gym each week. More room for cardio, bc I really need to improve my running, bc I run like a fat girl. I can barely even run 100 meters, which is embarrassing. My first goal is to run 400 meters continuously, that's 1 full lap around the track.
I need to go make sure my husband wakes up from his nap. He needs my help sometimes and I'm happy to do so :)

Statistics from LC IG account: Year 2019
I am going to share some data and observations and ask questions.
Liz had 270 posts on IG (not stories) in 365 days. Compare that to 402 in 2016; 501 in 2017 and 362 in 2018.
Travel: Travel slowed down in 2019. These dates come from her posts so not sure if they are accurate.
Jan 1-9 – Cayman Islands; Jan 26-28 – Utah Feb 4-7 – Colorado (Aspen); Feb 8-10 – Dallas; Feb 12-16 – London; Feb 26 – Austin March 15-20 – NYC; March 26-April 2 – Doha April 14 – San Antonio May 7-10 – NYC; May 11 – Chicago; May 17 – Dallas June 19-30 – London July 5-14 – Italy – Capri/Positano/Sicily; July 17-31 - London Aug 1-16 – London (maybe a side trip to Italy on Aug 14) Sept 25 – Denver; Sept 29—30 – NYC Oct 15-17 – NYC; Oct 21 – NYC; Oct 24-31 – London Nov 8-17 – Austin/Dallas; Nov 27-28 – Dallas Dec 1-2 – Denver; Dec 31 – Cabo, Mexico
AH liked 22 of LCs posts in 2019 which was noticeably difference from liking most all of her posts in 2018. The posts he liked included: 2018 year end recap, LC ENCOURAING HIM TO BE AN INSTAGRAM HUSBAND, AH kayaking with the kids, 3 generations of Hammers, Harper, Liz filming a commercial, kids with the Easter bunny, Ford’s first day of preschool, kids Halloween pics, Liz getting outstanding alumni award, kids at Bird Bakery, Armie and Liz at GOCampaign at NeueHouse, Ford, Family Thanksgiving, Harper with Christmas stocking, Liz selfie in dress with poofy sleeves, Harper’s 5th birthday, Disney on Ice with kids, and Archie’s 9th birthday.
AH only posted 2 likes on her IG account between JANUARY 9-SEPTEMBER 10. Most likes were in Jan/Nov/Dec. AH stopped posting on his IG account between Mar 31-Sept 6. His last post on his IG account about LC was in March 2019.
TC posted 3 times on LCs account in 2019: July 11 (LC saying they should open up a Bird Bakery in Lipari, Italy); Aug 25 (San Vicente Inn bday party); and Sept 3 (National Relaxation Day - Liz and Armie on moped). Both Pauline and Giulliang liked 4 of her posts each.
Overall, unlike 2018, there were far fewer postings and many more postings of LC doing her own thing.
January starts off with TC showing off the beautiful sex dungeon culture bib at the Golden Globes while AH and LC are in the Cayman Islands. TC was in LA from at least Jan 3-12 and is seen with AH and LC in Beverly Hills on Jan 12. Between Jan 16-18, TC was in London and Paris but was then back in LA from Jan 21-28 for the Actors Roundtable (21st) and SAG awards (28th). AH and LC celebrated Ford’s 2nd birthday (14th), Niki’s 30th birthday (26th), and the Wounds premier at Sundance (27-28). Pretty lowkey month.
In February, AH accompanied LC to the Next Gen Philanthropic Leader Award ceremony and then LC takes off for Aspen with a load of girlfriends on a ski trip (4-7). LC posted AHs March 2019 GQ cover and said “he was off the gram” in February prepping for a role. In her post she says: You are going to want to pick up this issue since Le Trackie is making a comeback appearance. Her Feb 10 post is awkward – she is dancing with AH as part of Harper’s Preschool Gala but it looks so staged/fake. He looks like he does not want to kiss her. AH/LC/TC run into each other in London Feb. 12 and take a photo op near their respective mag covers. TC was in London for BAFTA (10th) and posted the three stars/Berlin shoes IG story on the 11th. AH is supposed to be filming Dreamland this month but I don’t have a date on this. The Hammers Valentine’s Day pic looks fake and AH is just going along with it.
In March, TC is filming Dune in Budapest and facetiming AH regularly. AH goes on Jimmy Fallon promoting Hotel Mumbai (and shares w/ Jimmy that he in fact has just facetimed TC that morning). Again, March 2019 is the last time AH posts about LC on his IG account. Only other activity of note is the trip to NYC in mid-March for Hotel Mumbai press. Niki is there and the Fallon interview takes place. AH has the Dreamland vibe/look going on. LC heads off to Doha solo at the end of the month for the Fashion Trust Arabia awards and Love Ball Arabia and posts a lot of pics of herself.
Starting in April, LC posts a lot fewer posts on IG. TC is in Jordan filming Dune all month long and I bet AH is lonely without him. LC posts an April 6 date night pic with AH, but once again, it looks fake and he won’t be seen kissing her. They are in Palm Springs with the kids for spring break. It also makes me ask the question: who takes these pics of them? In late April, LC posts about them moving into a new home.
TC is wrapping up the Dune shoot in Hungary and Budapest in May. What I took note of in June is LCs post on May 8 showing a Timmy look a like on the runway at the LV show in NYC. I also need to have someone shed some light on what AH was doing in Chicago on May 11. Her post of them walking down the street with him in a white bathrobe is odd. LC posted a 9 year anniversary pic of her and AH on May 23. They are at the River Café. There is one in London and NYC but she was in neither city on the 23rd so it must be an old pic. AH is sticking his tongue out at her suggestively in this pic. Why, and it is cringe. Again, it feels staged.
Rebecca filming began in London on June 3. AH is there the whole month. LC posted she was celebrating PRIDE week on June 8. I noted on Liz’s Father’s Day post on June 16 she did not call AH her HUSBAND but rather referenced him by his IG handle. LC and kids headed to London on June 19 and stayed there until August 18. TWO MONTHS. Pretty hard to have an affair with Lily James during this time I would imagine. Unless it was when LC took off to party in Italy for 10 days in July. LC posted another strange pic of her and AH together at a pub on June 22 where AH is hiding his face behind her and nuzzling her neck. I don’t think AH wanted anyone to see him being affectionate with her.
Liz was in Italy from July 5-14 – 10 days. I think she left the kids with AH in London except that there is one photo of her and Harper on a boat in Naples on July 5 and one of her and Harper in Capri on July 6. The next time you see the kids is in a pic in London on July 17 welcoming her back from Italy. So did she go from London to Italy to London to Italy to London? The rest of the month is site-seeing in London with her and the kids.
August 2019 is when a magazine drops hints a divorce is on the horizon. TC wraps up shooting Dune in Norway (remember the Norway travel book on AHs bookshelf earlier this year?) and is in Amsterdam with Will from Aug 6-9. Side note: I love TCs IG story in Amsterdam on Aug 6 where he is walking down the street at night mouthing some rap song – so sexy! The King promo begins this month and the trailer is out – what better place to celebrate than Amsterdam! We get a Hammer family photo op on Aug 10 (we see their backsides while they are walking down a street in London) and then they all arrive back home in LA on the 17th. LCs birthday post on Aug 19 is lowkey – a sexy AH with the kids at the house with a cake wishing her a happy birthday. But then we fast forward to the joint adult birthday party at the San Vicente Inn on the 24th that includes a post of LC and LRD in a sexy hug. What??? Why was LRD at the party supposedly making out with LC? I thought she was TCs “girlfriend”. Shortly after the party, we get the Happy Angry Birthday Blind Gossip article. This article mentions that AH had gone off for a long period of time during the party to talk to someone on the phone. And LC calls him a liar and he says to stop being a bitch. My notes show that TC was attending one of Guillian’s concerts at a small venue that weekend in NYC. Maybe AH was on the phone with TC??? Interestingly, TC “liked” LCs birthday post from the San Vicente Inn on Aug 25 so it must be one big happy MODERN family. I took note of LCs birthday post to AH on Aug 28. It is AH looking his finest but now instead of her calling him my HUSBAND she calls him MY PERSON.
AH is smoking ribs in the backyard at the beginning of Sept for his birthday. TC is off showing the world and AH just how sexy he is in a silver HA suit at the Sept 2 The King premier in Venice. I am not sure what to make of LCs post on Sept 3 of her and AH riding a moped together. She is recognizing National Relaxation Day and when you listen to AH speak on the moped it sounds like stage directions. On Sept 20, I notice LC puts out a post saying “Nobody puts baby in the corner.” And I am thinking except for maybe a Mr. Chalamet. I think AH treats himself to a private b-day celebration in London from Sept 6-16. He posts a pic of him drinking a pint at a pub with friends on the 6th. Important to note: TC “likes” an AH post for the first time in 9 months. Just to make sure everyone is clear that both boys are STRAIGHT and not seeing each other after this “like” we have the Capri boat sham. AH is back in LA at the gym with friends on Sept. 16. The DOTN shoot begins in London on Sept 30.
Side note: For all you detectives out there, can you please help me find out where TC was on Saturday, Sept 7? Was he celebrating with AH in London? I have notes that say TC was heading to Toronto from Europe on the 8th but now cannot find that reference. And then how do the dates overlap with the Capri boat sham.
AH films DOTN with that sexy pornstache in London in October. Andrew Aciman releases the Find Me novel and AH and TC really do “find each other” at the London premiere of The King on Oct 3. Too bad for us and AH that TC didn’t show up with the black HA cutout suit because it would have been a total mindfuck - agree! Maybe TC modeled it for AH in his hotel room. While all this is going on, LC is back at home honoring Female Founders at an event with Rachel Zoe. What else is going on? AH stops wearing his wedding ring; meets up with Luca for dinner and TC heads off to Busan with a big grin and a mighty limp after calling in a sick day to hang out with his lover and skip promo. LC is in London Oct 24-30 but we see no pics of AH or the kids…just her at a LV show and tourist sites. My mind wonders: Is she trying to show the public she is still attached to AH? Finally, TC is at The King premiere in Beverly Hills on the 26th and stays in LA until Nov 3.
LC heads home from London for Halloween to celebrate with the kids. TC is in Long Beach to open up the Kid Cudi concert on Nov 3. Not sure exactly when AH gets home from London but he shows up at an event with LC on Sept 18 – supporting the GO CAMPAIGN. Kid Cudi is at this event. LC posts several pics of AH and her at this event but they just don’t give off the same loving vibe as they did in 2016. In one of her pics she writes: “And then they learned to smile.” OK. LC spends a lot of time in Texas during November (from the 8th-17th). She accepts the outstanding alumni award from her college alma mater. At the end of November, AH is shooting a National Geographic segment in Sardinia (learning how to suck a goat’s teet) and then heads to Dallas for Thanksgiving with the family.
The start of December has the family in Denver celebrating Harper’s birthday. We also know AH is in Hawaii on Dec 5-6 filming Next Goal Wins and visiting gay bars. TC is off in NYC at the Little Women premiere (7th) and makes a Jimmy Fallon appearance (9th). TC flies to Paris on Dec 10 and we see him in a LW press event wearing that delicious red LV jacket. We watch him watching the CMBYN scene where he plays the piano for Oliver (Dec 12) and lusts after him. The London LW premiere is Dec 16 and along with it that cute Gorillaz t-shirt. We next see AH in LA on Dec 9 in a Christmas shot with Santa and the kids. I took note that AH IS NOT WEARING HIS WEDDING RING in this pic and he has showed up to an event in jeans and a ball cap whereas other attendees are a bit more dressed up. It just gives off a whole “IDGAF vibe. I am done with photo ops.” He does redeem himself with the sexy rope belt though. Sorry Harper and Ford – I digress. LC puts out an interesting @cakebytim post on Dec 12. LC also posts a pic of her and AH and the kids to commemorate Harper’s 5th birthday – the ring finger is hidden again. On Dec. 17 LC says she “feels more powerful surrounded by other powerful women” in an IG post. On Dec 18, LC and AH take the kids to Disney on Ice at the Staples Center and then they celebrate Archie’s 5th birthday. LC makes sure to let everyone know that “Archie has stayed a loyal companion while maintaining a heathy level of indifference”. AH is off to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the MDL Beast Festival (Dec 20-22). There he paints two blue letter Ts on his forehead and lets off some steam. We see TC celebrating his birthday at a restaurant with Kid Cudi in NYC on Dec 28. AH and LZ spend Christmas in LA with the kids which is interesting because they have spent Christmas in Denver the last 3 years.
Everything from 2019 looks fake and staged between them IMHO. Especially in comparison to the 2016 and 2017 posts. It looks like AH and LC are just trying to show the public they are still one big happy family while AH carries on his romance behind the scenes with TC. However, their posts are not fooling many of us. I will close out 2019 letting everyone know that AH wore the BOYFRIEND sweater on Christmas Day while everyone opened presents. Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas.

TAFAKKUR: Part 202
Perfection in the Physique of Birds: Part 1
With bodies heavy for flying and light for diving into the water, birds push the limits of their physique. Let's take a close look at the artistry displayed in birds, which amaze thinking people with their wonderful flying techniques.
Able to dive into the water at a speed approaching 90 km, the kingfisher can grab its prey at this speed in a depth of 60 cm, instantly pivot back and then, using its wings as oars, surface above the water. In order not to lose its prey, the bird's precisely timed diving and surfacing takes place in three seconds.
A torpedo as light as a fly
The most basic factor that enables an animate creature to dive into the water is its body being heavier than the water. With a weight of 40 g and a length of 18 cm, the kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) should remain on top of the water and not be able to catch fish because it cannot dive. However, because God put the sustenance of this bird in the depths of the sea, He gave it the special diving ability. In a short period of time the kingfisher has traveled a distance 414 times its height. This shows that it can move as fast as a fighter aircraft. If we consider what the kingfisher does on a human scale, a person would be able to dive 26 meters in three seconds and then resurface with a prey the size of a sheepdog. Here another interesting point should be made. The fish the kingfisher wants to catch is actually in a different position than it would visually appear from the sky due to the difference of the degrees of deflection of light in water and air. Bereft of any knowledge of optics, how does this bird solve this problem of physics?
How heavy is a bird feather?
There are physical limits to bird's flying capabilities. In order for a bird to be able to fly, its weight should not be more than 15 kg. In order for birds heavier than this to fly, their wings have to be proportionately larger so it is difficult for this big a bird with heavy wings to fly. Male silent swans (Cygnus olor) weigh more than 14 kg; in fact, there are even some that weigh 20 kg. However, God compensated for this situation with a special structure. Like other birds, the silent swans have some bones filled with air and the inner part of these bones has been made stronger with small props. For this reason, the feathers and bones of these birds are one-tenth as heavy as their bodies. There are more than 12,000 muscle ligaments in the wings of swans to activate the feathers used in flying. Long (50 cm) wing feathers greatly increase the carriage surface of the wings. Each feather can carry 200 grams of weight during flight. For this reason, a swan that loses just one wing feather can no longer take flight. It takes 60 days for the feathers to be completely renewed.
Because the owl's ears were created asymmetrically (the right ear is higher), sounds reach the close ear 1/300,000 of a second earlier. This small amount of time difference is enough for the owl to determine the exact place of the source of the sound.
Are owls flying radar stations?
Under normal conditions it is not possible to hear the sound waves of a mouse eating a hazelnut in a hayloft. Possessing a sensitive receiver, owls are an exception. The facial structure of owls resembles the high tech early warning equipment on AWACS planes. Focusing on even the smallest sound wave just like a satellite antenna, this structure cannot be explained by the intelligence of an owl.
Because the owl's ears were created asymmetrically (the right ear is higher), sounds reach the close ear 1/300,000 of a second earlier. This small time difference is enough for the owl to determine the exact location of the source of the sound. Through the 95,000 nerve cells in the simultaneous hearing center, the brain imagines a 3-D image of the prey. Due to the anatomy of it 14 neck vertebrae (humans and other mammals have seven vertebrae), the owl was given the capability of turning its head 270 degrees and determining the exact position of its prey. While flying towards the place where the sound came from, the owl can constantly recalculate the position of the prey relative to its own position, even if the prey changes its place. As a result of this precise calculation, only three seconds passes between the moment the owl first heard the sound of the prey and the moment it makes its deadly attack.
Is there a mathematical formula for remaining alive?
The formula is this: 7-15-70. It is difficult to immediately understand what these three numbers mean. However, these numbers make it almost impossible for a starling to be caught by its enemies.
We can explain the meaning of these numbers as follows: Whatever 7 close neighbors do, imitate them; constantly fly at least 15 cm from them; do not ever fly more than 70 km per hour. There is one more rule: Keep your distance from all enemies. When these principles are followed, enormous protection follows.
Flocks of starlings are comprised of several thousands of birds that move like one organism. In less than a second, the flock's direction, size and breadth can change. In this situation their enemies do not have much of a chance against such a tight mass. For predatory birds need to determine their targets in order to catch their prey. The fast and sudden movements of the flock prevent attack from predatory birds. In spite of this, predators who attempt attack go back empty-handed. For acting like one body, this enormous flock encompasses the enemy in a counter current with the waves they create and narrow it down until the bird can no longer fly. Becoming dazed, the predatory bird has no choice but to fly away from the flock. This instructive action of the starlings brings to mind the Qur'anic verse: "There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, not a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you" (6:38).
The world's best camera can see objects as big as a mouse from a height of 300 meters. This is an amazing thing, but even so, no camera can compare in any respect to an eagle's eyes.

Wireles Earbuds - Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus
From the outdoors, the initial Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds+ are practically identical-- they in fact suit each other's billing cases. Those cases are very much alike, too, both being little, pill-shaped clamshells. It's an ain't-broke-don't-fix-it type of deal; the initial layout really did not have several problems to mention, and also there's still not a great deal to whine about in the Buds+. The earbuds are light and also fit extremely pleasantly in my ears, as well as the situation is slim sufficient to slide into practically any type of pocket. The only modification you're liable to discover is that the Buds+ eschew the originals' matte coating for a high-gloss one, both on the earbuds as well as the situation. I desire they really did not; shiny surface areas are much more prone to finger prints and also scratches as well as, to me, come across cheaper. Still, unless you have a abhorrence for glossy surfaces that approaches pathological (help me), it's barely an issue. Looking Samsung Galaxy Buds , however, there are a couple of essential distinctions. There's an extra microphone outside of each earbud to better isolate your voice from background sound during calls-- something the very first Galaxy Buds fought with. Each bud likewise houses an 85 mAh battery, which is 48 percent larger than those in the previous design (the case has a larger battery, also, but it's a smaller sized gain: 270 mAh versus the old Buds' 252). The Buds+ also have bigger vehicle drivers. he Galaxy Buds+ sound very good. You're not getting the integrity you would from earbuds manufactured by Sennheiser or Klipsch, however highs and also mids are well-represented, and also the bigger motorists Samsung managed to pack inside suggest the Buds+ generate more bass than the old Buds could round up. Shortcomings exist if you listen for them, however audio top quality is more than high adequate to create enjoyable out-and-about listening. There's assistance for AAC and SBC codecs, along with Samsung's exclusive Scalable criterion (no aptX below). Latency is low, however, and also audio and video are integrated well enough to enjoy video games and also videos without disturbance. What's possibly samsung galaxy buds warranty than audio top quality, though, is that the earbuds are significantly boosted over the previous iteration when it involves telephone call. The first-generation Galaxy Buds were notoriously poor at separating your voice from history sound, which made taking get in touch with them in public a discomfort. The Galaxy Buds+ sport an added microphone on each earbud, which helps them zero in on your voice in noisier atmospheres. Checked in a congested coffee shop, callers can hear me well enough to continue a conversation without my needing to raise my voice, whereas on the old Galaxy Buds, I would certainly had trouble being listened to even in fairly silent settings. The Galaxy Put on application enables customization of the earbuds' sound profile, but it actually fails there. Instead of regularity sliders, Samsung pleases to provide 6 presets with uninformative names like "dynamic" and "clear" (I directly like "soft" ideal; it delicately increases bass as well as moods treble, which is nice for casual listening). The setup is fine as an option, yet a lot more granular modifications should really be feasible below. Touchpads outside of each earbud let you skip tracks, adjust quantity, call the Google Assistant (or Bixby, I guess), activate "ambient sound" mode, and even open Spotify. A solitary tap is play/pause, dual is skip ahead, and three-way is skip back. Every little thing else is achieved by lengthy presses.
Tumblr media
With 4 unique activities on each of two earbuds, there's in theory the opportunity to map 8 functions at a time. As unwieldy as that would certainly be out of package, it would certainly be a nice choice for customers who want it. As it stands, however, if you want to be able to manage volume without futzing with your phone, there's no way to call the Google Assistant or trigger ambient sound from the earbuds. That's a pity. Ambient sound, incidentally, is sort of like adverse sound canceling. It draws in audio from around you through the buds' microphones as well as pipes it right into your ears in addition to whatever you're listening to. The effect is quite persuading, as well as also imitates all-natural binaural spatial awareness-- the result that lets you court where audios are coming from by utilizing both ears jointly. It's still pretty impolite to talk with people while putting on earbuds, but if you want to know what's taking place as you stroll down the street, it's a excellent alternative to have. Battery life on the Buds+ is the most effective I have actually ever seen on real wireless earbuds. Thanks to the significantly larger cells they pack, the earbuds can last up to 11 (eleven) hrs on a solitary charge, without the charging instance (I didn't have occasion to pay attention to music for 11 uninterrupted hrs in my time with them, however evaluating by battery remaining after shorter stretches, Samsung's price quotes track). That's without any apparent boost in weight versus the previous version; they're both an ventilated 5.6 grams per bud. That type of long life is an entire workday plus commute, or a transcontinental trip with charge to save. The instance adds one more full charge, totaling regarding 22 hrs of paying attention fee in between top-ups. You primarily never ever need to handle your battery with the Buds+, which's a great sensation.

Daily Protein Demands - How much do I need?
Tumblr media
For individuals that work out and also appreciate health and fitness, there is frequently a great deal of mystery when it involves protein. We understand just how much weight we removal in the gym for reps and also collections, we understand just how much we evaluate, we recognize about where our body fat sits, but when you ask any type of bodybuilding the number of protein grams should be eaten daily, the numbers all of a sudden vary everywhere! This is maybe due to the fact that the sector has never ever in fact figured out the suitable number. Allow's examine a few of the most typically asked inquiries pertaining to healthy protein intake.
First off, why does healthy protein matter? Protein from our diet plan provides amino acids to the body. Our muscle mass fibers, torn as well as damaged from challenging workouts, after that use these amino acids to repair and also expand back bigger and also stronger. Protein maintains us expanding bigger, stronger, as well as leaner adhering to workouts. Individuals who don't consume adequate protein are aching much longer, have a softer appearance, as well as don't expand muscle mass as swiftly as their peers.
What do the experts recommend? As with numerous points, it depends that you ask! The recommended dietary allowance for less active individuals is 0.36 grams per pound of body weight in order to avoid healthy protein shortage. For a 200 pound male, that is only 72 grams per day. Split that up by your 6 meals, and we're chatting concerning a meager 12 grams of protein per dish. Ask most 200 extra pound athletes if they 'd more than happy just taking in 12 grams of healthy protein each meal!
The NSCA, or National Toughness and Conditioning Association, suggests energetic individuals and professional athletes consume concerning.5 grams of protein each day per extra pound of body weight. This would give the 200 extra pound athlete an overall need of 100 grams per day, or 17 grams per dish in each of six day-to-day servings. This is a little bit a lot more, but still method much less than a lot of professional athletes are consuming at each meal.
Personal instructors, market gurus, and also the bodybuilders in fact breaking the 220, 240 and also over pound mark, prefer much greater healthy protein numbers. The typical tip is 30 grams of healthy protein each meal, which would amount to 180 grams each day for the 200 pound professional athlete. To puts it simply, the bodybuilder would take in almost 1 gram of protein each day per pound of body weight.
How much protein can the body absorb in one meal? Numerous researches have shown the body can not soak up greater than regarding 30 grams in any type of given resting. This reduces the effects of the suggestion that professional athletes must be eating 500 grams each day. The conventional goal of most body builders, whether in their kitchen area or at a dining establishment, is to hit that 30 gram objective, et cetera is just a bonus!
Do these numbers put on everyone? In a brief action, No! Yes, your body might not have the ability to absorb nor require anything even more than 30 grams of protein each resting. Allow's presume you are a 150 pound novice to the weight space. Stand in line alongside the 270-pound NFL solid safety and security. His body will require, crave, and also utilize method greater than 30 grams of healthy protein each dish! He will probably leave even more compared to that on his paper napkin! The numbers should be taken as a recommendation, not a strict guideline. Larger people do need even more food - which consists of more calories, fats, carbohydrates, as well as proteins!
How do healthy proteins line up against fats and carbohydrates? Protein and carbohydrates both supply 4 calories each gram. Fat grams deliver 9 calories each. They are utilized by the body in different ways. All 3 of these macronutrients are really much required. Protein develops muscle mass, carbs provide energy, as well as fats enable your body organs to function properly. Cutting any kind of out of your diet plan will make you a very unwell individual!
How does protein timing affect absorption? Post-workout, your body is topped and also prepared to utilize some healthy protein grams for some fast amino acid uptake. Your muscle mass fibers are sweltered! Prior to going to bed is a blast for some casein protein, slow absorbing for a lengthy night's recovery. When you first wake up in the morning, your body has actually been in malnourishment setting for 8 hours and is certainly all set for a protein shake. Outside of that, eat as many lean, tidy dishes as possible!
How many dishes need to I be consuming each day? You must wait 2.5 to 3.5 hours between each protein feeding, and a minimum of 1 hr after each protein shake. This would certainly amount to 5 to 8 meals daily. The more regular the feedings, the extra reliable they will certainly remain in terms of muscle building. You will certainly likewise see a bumped metabolic rate, which is fantastic for fat burning!
What are the most effective sources of dietary protein? Chicken, lean beef, egg whites, whey protein, and also fish are the very best protein sources. Others provide a little extra fat and salt, yet always job in a pinch as well!
What happens to extreme nutritional healthy protein I consume? Any excess healthy protein consumed will be excreted through urine by the body. Unless you have damaged kidneys, extreme protein is not a huge trouble. However, considering that healthy protein does include 4 calories each gram, consuming also a lot will lead to it being exchanged fat if not utilized by the body.
Do steroids change things? One of the favorable side effects of anabolic steroids is that they boost the amount of protein that your body can utilize. As opposed to being limited to making use of regarding 30 grams each meal, your body may use 40 to 60 grams of healthy protein per resting. This can significantly transform what does it cost? protein you should be consuming, relocating your day-to-day numbers as much as 300-400 grams each day in order to optimize your muscular tissue and strength gain results.
The lower line is that you have to eat a lot of healthy protein, regularly, throughout the day. You do not require to go over the top, as many lifters generally do. Go for 30 grams of protein with each of your 6 to 8 'feedings' each day. This might consist of 2-3 drinks as well as 4-5 meals. As soon as your body comes to be familiar with enjoying this much healthy protein daily, you'll CRAVE 30 grams every 3 hrs like clockwork. Excellent luck!

Clean Power

SpaceX and NASA did something awesome over the weekend. They successfully launched two astronauts, Bob and Doug — cue Canadian humor clip — to the ISS on the SpaceX Crew Dragon from American soil. This is the first time since July 8th, 2011, when the last Shuttle launch occurred.
This led me to dust off some old calculations I’d done around powering the Shuttle entirely with renewable energy. At the time, I figured that we could turn water into rocket fuel sufficient for a Shuttle launch using a month’s wind power from a small wind farm at a cost of about $285,000, a bit more than market prices but a drop in the bucket compared to the $450 million to $1.5 billion per Space Shuttle launch.
Space Shuttle launch image courtesy NASA.gov
How does that work out? Let’s start with what most rocket propellant is.
“LOX and liquid hydrogen, used in the Space Shuttle orbiter, the Centaur upper stage of the Atlas V, Saturn V upper stages, the newer Delta IV rocket, the H-IIA rocket, and most stages of the European Ariane 5 rocket.”
LOX is not something you eat with bagels and cream cheese, but liquid oxygen.
So, basically one form of rocket fuel is oxygen and hydrogen. And one of the most common chemical compounds around is H2O, or two hydrogen and one oxygen bound together to form water, which is about as non-combustible as things get. It’s so non-combustible that it’s the most common mechanism used for putting out fires.
Okay, so far, so good. We have water which contains only the two things we need to make rocket fuel. But what about getting at it? Could we do that with renewable energy?
Absolutely, it turns out. Turning water into hydrogen and oxygen gases is done by a process called electrolysis, which unsurprisingly uses electricity. And it’s easy and cheap to make lots of electricity with wind and solar energy, that’s why they are the fastest growing sources of energy globally, with China, for example, having put in almost as much solar energy in the first three months of 2015 [guess when I wrote this Quora answer originally] as exists in the US, and China’s wind power at 115 GW now has more nameplate capacity than all of the US’ nuclear plants and is expected to reach 200 GW by 2020. Then more electricity is required to supercool the hydrogen and oxygen into liquids.
So we can get sufficient electricity and we can use it to turn water into rocket fuel. And hey, when we burn them shoving rockets into space we get water back. That sounds pretty good!
So what’s the kicker? Well, rockets use a lot of fuel. For this, I’ll just turn to the space expert and NASA engineer, Robert Frost, and his detailed assessment of the number of pounds of rocket fuel necessary to propel a pound of mass in Earth’s orbit from sea level.
“So, if our imaginary rocket with a final mass of 1 kg started off at 10.39 kg, then 90.3% of the mass of the rocket was propellant. Our rule of thumb was pretty darn close.”
Even that is a bit of an understatement, because a lot of stuff you throw into orbit is just there to contain the actually useful payload, whether that’s a military stealth satellite that can catch people cheating on their taxes or an astronaut who does a rocking version of Bowie’s Space Oddity.
Let’s look at the Space Shuttle for a nostalgic and mildly sad example.
“The Space Shuttle weighed 165,000 pounds empty. Its external tank weighed 78,100 pounds empty and its two solid rocket boosters weighed 185,000 pounds empty each. Each solid rocket booster held 1.1 million pounds of fuel. The external tank held 143,000 gallons of liquid oxygen (1,359,000 pounds) and 383,000 gallons of liquid hydrogen (226,000 pounds). The fuel weighed almost 20 times more than the Shuttle. At launch, the Shuttle, external tank, solid rocket boosters and all the fuel combined had a total weight of 4.4 million pounds. The Shuttle could also carry a 65,000 [sic] payload.”
That’s about 24 pounds of fuel for each pound of payload. That’s not quite the 90% that the rule of thumb talks about, but good enough.
So how much electricity would it take to put a loaded shuttle into orbit? Let’s start with how much hydrogen and oxygen a kWh of electricity could create from water:
“1 kilowatt hour of electricity can split about 270 grams of water and produce about 350 liters of hydrogen and 175 liters of oxygen.”
Making LOX and liquid hydrogen doesn’t change the mass of the elements, so 270 grams of water could be divided into the total mass of fuel and you’d get an approximation, but it wouldn’t be accurate. Let’s look at the mass of hydrogen and hydrogen separately:
“1 litre of water weighs 1 kilo and when electrolysed will produce hydrogen and oxygen as described by the following equation: 2 H2O(l) → 2 H2(g) + O2(g) in atomic weight terms 36.0012kg of water with give 4.0032kg of hydrogen and 31.998kg of oxygen So a single kilo you will get 4.0032/36.0012 or 111.19gm of hydrogen and 31.998/36.0012 or 888.81gm of oxygen”
So we need 617,727 kilos of LOX and 102,727 kilos of liquid hydrogen. The mass doesn’t change when you change state, it just gets a lot denser. That means that we would need about 925,471 liters of water to get the necessary hydrogen, and only 695,639 liters for the oxygen. As such, we can limit ourselves to the amount needed for hydrogen and we’ll have some left over oxygen to get high on.
Because we know a kWh can electrolyze 270 grams of water, we can do some simple math and voila, we can see that we need 3.427 GWh of electricity to produce sufficient LOX and hydrogen.
Aveston-3 Mills wind farm
Is that a feasible amount of electricity to produce with renewables? Absolutely. It would only take about a month for a 13.6 MW renewable source with a capacity factor of 35% to generate that much electricity. That’s a wind farm of maybe 8 turbines.
But that’s to produce these gases at room temperature. We need the gases turned into liquids, which means spending even more electricity to cool and compress them. Oddly, that information isn’t easy to find, mostly because it’s a complex calculation which is process dependent — different combinations of compression and cooling in different environments will have significantly different results –, but we can make some approximations. Let’s start with liquid oxygen.
“Liquid oxygen has a density of 1.141 g/cm3 (1.141 kg/L or 1141 kg/m3) and is cryogenic with a freezing point of 54.36 K (−361.82 °F, −218.79 °C) and a boiling point of 90.19 K (−297.33 °F, −182.96 °C) at 101.325 kPa (760 mmHg).”
Then let’s look at liquid hydrogen.
“To exist as a liquid, H2 must be cooled below hydrogen’s critical point of 33 K. However, for hydrogen to be in a full liquid state without boiling at atmospheric pressure, it needs to be cooled to 20.28 K (−423.17 °F/−252.87°C).”
So we have to cool 617,727 kilos of oxygen to 90.19 K from about 295 K, and 102,727 kilos of hydrogen to 33 K from about 295 K. Specific heat is the energy required to raise one kilogram of a material one degree Kelvin. It changes depending on the degree of compression and the temperature, but we can make an approximation by picking a point partway down. For oxygen we’ll use a specific heat of 0.910 kJ/kg.K at 175 K. For hydrogen we’ll use a specific heat of 13.12 kJ/kg.K at 175 K. Note that it takes 14 times more energy to cool (or heat) hydrogen than oxygen. That means it will take in the range of 115,000,000 kJ to liquify the oxygen and 350,000,000 kJ to liquify the hydrogen.
Of course, as everyone with access to Google knows, a kiloJoule is equivalent to 0.000277778 of a KWH, so it will take about another 130 MWH to liquify the gases.
So is it economical? Well, 3.567 GWH of electricity at 8 cents per KWH is about $285,000 worth of electricity. That doesn’t seem out of line, especially given the average cost of launching the shuttle was $450 million and if you actually amortized development the cost was about $1.5 billion per launch. And according to one source, buying the LOX and liquid hydrogen at market prices would cost around $200,000, which is in the ballpark.
This of course ignores the solid fuel rockets also used in Shuttle launches. Of course, the wind farm electricity is only useful for launches from ground to space, as there is no moving atmosphere to speak of in space. Replace the wind energy with solar energy and the river or lake water with comets or Martian/Lunar polar ice, and the result is a lot of rocket propellant ready to be made in the solar system.    Follow CleanTechnica on Google News.

More ‘murder hornets’ are turning up. Here’s what you need to know
Two new specimens of Asian giant hornet have turned up in the Pacific Northwest, suggesting that the invasive species made it through the winter despite efforts last year to stamp out the menace to North America’s honeybees.
A big, yellow-and-black insect found dead in a roadway near Custer, Wash., has been identified as the Asian giant hornet, or Vespa mandarinia, Sven Spichiger, an entomologist at the Washington State Department of Agriculture, announced May 29. It was “probably a queen,” he said, from a brood in a 2019 nest and now ready to found a colony of her own.
Canadian scientists have also confirmed their first giant hornet of 2020, a specimen spotted May 15 in Langley, British Columbia.
Dubbed the “murder hornet” to the annoyance of entomologists, the predator earns its nickname from its proclivity to nab a honeybee, bite off the bee’s head carried home to nourish young hornets. Raiding parties of several dozen Asian giant hornets can kill whole hives containing thousands of bees in a few hours.
Those are just some of the details that make V. mandarinia the newsiest stinging invader in years. It’s a fierce little predator, though not as apocalyptic as “murder hornet” headlines have suggested.
Amid the uproar over the “new” hornets, a few facts have been overlooked. For one, North America has previously had at least one close call — not publicized at the time — with the world’s largest hornet. Unlike the current sensational invasion, however, that early episode had a happy ending, at least for the people and native insects of North America. Not so much for the hornets. What’s more, these aren’t the only big, bad hornets that have arrived at the borders of the continent.
Here’s what we know so far, and what we don’t, about Asian giant hornets and the threats they pose.
Is this ‘invasion of the giant hornet’ really new?
Not entirely. What’s new for North America is that last year scientists confirmed Asian giant hornets in the wild.
In September 2019, beekeepers tracked down and destroyed a hornet nest about the diameter of a large grapefruit near a public footpath in Nanaimo near Vancouver, Canada. Lone flying hornets also showed up on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border, one at a hummingbird feeder near Blaine, Wash.
But that wasn’t the Asian giant hornet’s first touchdown on North American soil. California had an overlooked close call in 2016. It wasn’t just some lone hornet hiding in a cargo container, says entomologist Allan Smith-Pardo, now at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service office in Sacramento, Calif. He was the scientist charged with identifying any suspicious wasps or bees found in cargo or mail nationwide. An inspector flagged an express package coming into the San Francisco airport without any mention of insects in its labeling. Yet it held some kind of papery honeycomb-like nest.
Tumblr media
After sightings of giant hornets on Vancouver Island in Canada, beekeepers tracked down this nest in a forested public park within the town of Nanaimo. A carefully suited-up team anesthetized the hornets with carbon dioxide and dropped them in alcohol, which killed them.Paul van Westendorp
The inspector wondered if someone was smuggling in bees, which U.S. rules strictly ban in order to slow the influx of viruses, predatory mites and other menaces. Smith-Pardo identified the package as something even more dramatic: a whole nest of Asian giant hornets. “There were no adults in the package, but plenty of pupae and larvae,” he says. A few were still alive.
Instead of some bizarre attempt at international sabotage, the package was probably a gourmet treat or even a health aid. In their native home, “collected adults, pupae and larvae are soaked in liquor,” says retired entomologist Jung-tai Chao, who studied paper wasp social behavior at the University of Georgia as well as hornet ecology at the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute. This “hornet liquor,” he says, is believed to ease arthritis pain.
The 2016 hornet package was opened in a secure room that keeps biological hazards from escaping. So that potential insect disaster became no more than a data point mentioned briefly on page 23 of the May 2020 issue of Insect Systematics and Diversity. The overview looked only at hornets intercepted in California during one decade, so there could have been other run-ins with giants.
Is the Asian giant hornet the first hornet to try invading North America?
Far from it.
The hefty, though not record-setting, hornet V. crabro spread from Europe into New York state around the mid-19th century. Now found in scattered places east of the Rockies, the European hornets nest in hollow trees and cozy nooks within walls. Humans who blunder too close can get painful stings, says Bob Jacobson, a retired entomologist in Cincinnati with a long-standing interest in hornets and venoms. His cousin was stung by the species.
Like the Asian giant hornet, the European invader attacks honeybees, and Jacobson has seen it go after bumblebees, too, as well as yellow jackets and some other wasps. Unlike the new invader, though, a V. crabro hornet hunts alone. It picks off a bee on a flower or at a hive but doesn’t gang up in groups for mass slaughter of whole insect colonies.
Other hornets have also turned up in North America without stirring public interest. That data search of interceptions in California between 2010 and 2018 showed that inspectors stopped four other species besides the giant. In Canada, just in 2019, entomologists identified two different invasive hornet species, including V. soror, which is almost as big as the Asian giant. Whether those arrivals could make a permanent home remains to be seen.
Let’s back up. What are hornets, and why do people get so spooked by them?
True hornets are big, predatory, colony-forming wasps, in the Vespa genus. Apart from the European V. crabro, they’re native to Asia. They need meat to feed their young, unlike honeybees, which collect plant pollen as baby food. Another difference: A honeybee dies after its single-use stinger rips out of its body. Hornets, however, are among the insects that can sting and sting again.
The latest hornet identification key lists 22 species: striped and spangled in various browns and rusts, gold and bluish-blacks. North America also has several native wasps popularly nicknamed hornets. These natives, however, belong on a nearby but different twig of the insect evolutionary tree.
Why do Asian giant hornets attack honeybees?
The Asian giant hornet doesn’t really specialize in honeybees, says James Carpenter, a hornet specialist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City who is now marooned in Australia by travel restrictions. For the early months of the one-year life cycle of a nest in temperate climates, workers forage alone, often for beetles.
Toward the fall, however, the colony’s time is running out, and workers face heavy demands for protein to raise the next generation of queens that will take shelter during the winter and then start their own colonies in spring. Workers band together in unique group-foraging raids. Several dozen attack high-value targets, such as whole nests of honeybees, other species of hornets, and yellow jackets.
The giant hornets “slaughter the adults, then carry back the brood as food for their larvae,” Carpenter says. “Besides the impact on honeybees, then, they might have an impact on native yellow jackets.”
Just how big is the Asian giant hornet, and how could beekeepers fight them?
V. mandarinia ranks as the world’s largest hornet. Queens can grow some 5 centimeters long, about the length of an average-sized woman’s thumb. Wingspans can exceed 7 centimeters, not quite the full width of a woman’s palm. Workers aren’t as big.
Beekeepers in Asia try to turn the giants’ size against them, says entomologist Jeff Pettis in Salisbury, Md., president of Apimondia, an international federation of beekeepers’ associations. He’s seen various kinds of traps and screening devices set up at hive entrances that let a slim honeybee slip through but block big clunking hornets.
Not to be deterred, the hornets will lurk in front of a blocked hive to pick off emerging bees. Pettis has even seen apiary workers with a tennis or badminton racket chasing and “just whacking ’em.”
That’s not at all recommended, by the way. Giant hornets have giant stingers, so it’s better to stay out of their way.

How bad is the sting?
There’s no real relationship between how dangerous and how painful an insect’s sting is, says Justin Schmidt, of the Southwestern Biological Institute and University of Arizona in Tucson.
The Asian giant hornet delivers a big dose of fairly strong venom, he and colleagues determined after testing venom of four kinds of Asian hornets on mice. The giant hornet species could zing the biggest volume into its target, about 1,100 micrograms (dry weight) per individual compared with around 150 from a dainty little honeybee. That hornet venom also has a pretty strong knockdown power. Based on what venom did to lab mice in tests, researchers say that just one full sting would have a 50 percent chance of killing a decent-sized (270-gram) rodent.
The venom of Tetraponera ants from Malaysia has “exquisite lethality,” but the sting isn’t very painful, Schmidt noted in Toxins in 2019. Schmidt has spent decades developing a ranking system for stings by allowing himself to be stung (SN: 7/24/16), Even though he has personal data on more than 80 insects, the Asian giant hornet isn’t one of them. (So far.) From talking to various colleagues who have been stung, however, he estimates that it’s equivalent to three to 10 yellow jackets stinging simultaneously. That’s painful, but “not the end of the world,” he says. What ranks at roughly 10 times more painful in his view are bullet ants.
Pain aside, how dangerous will this hornet be for people?
A much-quoted number from a 1986 paper puts Japan’s death toll for people stung by V. mandarinia at around 40 to 50 people per year. That includes people with allergies to insect venom. (Estimates vary, Jacobson says, but notes a paper reporting 1 percent to 3 percent.)  The less-quoted parts of the report from Japan, however, point out that of the 14 people hospitalized for stings and discussed in the paper, those with fewer than 50 stings had a good chance of surviving.
Chao, who contributed a case report to that paper, was stung himself while out with his students collecting a large V. mandarinia nest.  He’s allergic to stings. “Unfortunately I did not have my antihistamines with me,” he says. He was rushed to a hospital, where after injections and a few hours’ observation, though, he was released.
If this hornet gets established, will people need to stay indoors to survive the invasion?
That’s not the way Paul van Westendorp sees it.
As the principal beekeeping specialist for the province of British Columbia, he received the first giant Asian hornet specimens from beekeepers last year and knows how much damage the hornets can do. Raiding parties literally leave heaps of headless honeybees around a hive during a takeover to steal the young.
To put it in perspective, Asian giant hornets perch at the apex of major insect predators. “Apex predators are maybe very fierce in what they can do, but there are only a few of them around,” he says.
So, for most people the odds of ever coming across one are low.  “On a beautiful, hot summer day, one will normally have no hesitation to for a nice swim in the ocean — even if we recognize that there are orcas out there,” van Westendorp says.

The highlights of Wesdome Gold Mines’ 2019 are presented in an iA Securities report.
In a March 11, 2020 research note, iA Securities analyst George Topping reported that Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO:TSX) had “another strong year” in 2019.
The analyst reviewed the highlights. Production in 2019 of 91,700 ounces (91.7 Koz) fell in the high end of guidance. Throughput was decreased but made up for by Eagle underground mine gold grades of 28.6 grams per ton (28.6 g/t). For 2020, iA Securities models higher production, of 94 Koz, at lower gold grades, of 18.2 g/t.
As for the exploration and development company’s 2019 financials, Topping noted they were in line. Free cash flow was CA$6.6 million, cash flow per share was CA$0.15 and EBITDA was CA$25.6 million, all as expected. All in sustaining cost (AISC) was US$988 per ounce, also in line with iA Securities’ forecast. Wesdome ended the year with CA$36 million in cash and CA$41.5 million available through its credit facility.
Also noteworthy, Topping wrote, is that New Eagle’s mineral reserve was expanded by 36%. It now stands at 550 Koz at 14.4 g/t gold, which “supports a typical six-year mine life at a 95 Koz per year production rate.” Impressive drill results, particularly from the 303 lens, resulted in this 20% grade boost, he stated.
Topping noted there are two upcoming catalysts for Wesdome. One is drilling at the Kiena project. With the drilling platforms done, drill testing of the up-plunge extension is taking place. The second potential stock moving event is completion of a preliminary economic assessment for Kiena, which is expected in Q2/20.
Topping concluded that with New Eagle and Kiena, “Wesdome will be a 200–270 Koz producer at sub-US$1,000 AISC, possibly as soon as three years from restart.”
IA Securities has a Buy rating and a CA$13.40 per share target price on Wesdome Gold, whose stock is trading now at around CA$8.41 per share.

Can You Wear A Motorcycle Helmet With Glasses
Wearing glasses with a motorcycle helmet can be uncomfortable but there are helmets that can help
I’ve been wearing glasses with my motorcycle helmet for a very long time. I have contacts but let’s be serious after a while contacts get uncomfortable. Here’s the problem, glasses suck when you are wearing a motorcycle helmet. But they needn’t, and here’s why.
Wearing my glasses with my motorcycle helmets can be really uncomfortable, I would say they are most of the time but there’s really only a couple of times I find it difficult for me to wear glasses.
The first is if you’re trying to fit your head in a helmet that’s too narrow. So, if you really love that beautiful bell race star helmet but you have a very rounded shaped head, then, of course, you’re sizing up to fit the width of your head but then it’s still very very tight and then it’s too long.
If your helmet is too narrow then that’s going to make wearing your glasses very challenging, the other times are, and I would hate to say this but usually, in the lower price point helmets the liners aren’t as soft and aren’t as forgiving to allow you to slide your frames in without any friction.
Most of the time when you’re hitting the $350-400 helmet price point the liners are really soft, they are really smooth and there’s usually plenty of room for you to slide your eyeglasses in.
The other time it can be an issue is when your glasses don’t have a standard plastic frame, mine is very light and very thin which is why I love them.
If you wear Oakley’s and I know a lot of their sports glasses have little silicone tips on the end so that they grip the side of your head better which makes absolute sense, especially if you’re really active in other sports and you’re wearing these glasses where you need that grip.
The other times I’ve seen it is when a few people wear really old-style wiry framed glasses. With these glasses, you literally curl the frames around the back of your ears and they’re really thin and super light but they’re too bendy.
They’re so bendy you can’t slide them in because the frame isn’t stiff enough to actually push them into your helmet.
How To Wear Motorcycle Helmet With Glasses
My glasses are just a nice standard plastic frame and when I put them in I start by pushing the arms toward the top of my ears and then inside my helmet. I can actually shimmy them down a little bit once the arms are over the top of my ears.
For those of you who are buying new helmets keep in mind that you may either need to change your cheek pad or you may need to wait until you break that helmet in before you can actually wear your glasses.
If your frames are really fashion frames and they’re just a little too thick then hopefully you can change the liner, the top liner or the end of the cheek pads to accommodate your glasses.
If you do spend a little more money on your helmet you will find yourself being able to wear glasses in a little bit nicer helmet. The liners will just be far more forgiving and smooth and soft.
If you are purchasing a helmet because you need to wear glasses the question is which is the best motorcycle helmet for glasses wearers?
Best Motorcycle Helmet For Glasses Wearers

Best Motorcycle Helmet For Glasses Wearers
There are lots of different types of helmets you can use with your glasses. There are open-face touring, ADV, sport, racing and modular. The first one we will look at is the scorpion Belfast open face helmet.
Scorpion Belfast Open Face Helmet
Tumblr media
The Scorpion Belfast available from Amazon is my retro cruiser of choice because there’s something it doesn’t have. There’s lots of padding on your cheeks but scorpion didn’t stuff foam into the top of the cheek pads and that’s brilliant.
Obviously it leaves room for the temples of my glasses so they can sit on my face without any pressure points. What’s special about this design is that I can actually adjust how my glasses sit.
So many helmets carve eyeglass channels into the liner which is only good if you want your glasses to sit at the precise angle of the channel. But with the Belfast, I have a hollow patch rather than a hollow line so my glasses are comfortable in almost any position.
I will say that it’s still a squeeze to put the glasses on and off inside this helmet just because of the way 3/4 lids are designed. they tend to squeeze a little bit more on the sides.
What else should you know about the Scorpion Belfast?
The main thing about this helmet is hand craftsmanship. The fiberglass shell is hand made and the napa leather is hand-stitched it’s a lovely place to stick your head as long as you don’t mind paying 250 dollars to do so.
Unfortunately, the weather liner cannot be removed for washing and the rear goggle straps are far too low but at least you get a drop-down Sun Visor, that’s kind of rare on open-faced lids.
Pro: Easy fits lining – Drop Down Sun Visor Cons: Can’t remove weather liner
Note: The Scorpion Belfast runs a full size small. If the size chart suggests a size LG, order an XL instead.
Features:
The fiberglass shell is individually hand laid to ensure it meets the top industry standards
Retractable and interchangeable internal SpeedView sun visor
Nappa leather accents
Kwikfit cheek pads allow easy on and off of the most common styles of eyeglasses and eliminate temple pressure found on most helmets
Plush hand-stitched liner
3 shell sizes
DOT approved
5-year warranty
Scorpion EXO-T510 Touring Helmet
Tumblr media
My second choice is the Scorpion EXO-T510 available from amazon. In my opinion, it is the best touring helmet for wearing glasses, that’s because it has something called a quick fit and air fit.
Quick fit is scorpions super fun word for a standard eyeglass channel. There’s nothing special going on here and as I already mentioned, it’s kind of annoying that it forces your frames to a certain angle, but air fit is special.
A lot of visually challenged riders will choose a helmet that’s too wide for them because it makes it easier to take their glasses on and off. Of course, the downside of that is that having a helmet that’s a little bit too loose on the sides so is bad for safety.
With air fit, you can have the best of both worlds. In the resting position, the EXO-T510 is loose enough to slip glasses in and out but then it’s also designed to be pumped which inflates a bladder behind the cheek pads and that snugs the helmet in on each side.
When you want to take the glasses off you just deflate the bladder and you regain your wiggle room.
The pros and cons are easy.
The EXO-T510 is way too loud for a touring helmet, that’s a con. But then it does have emergency quick-release cheek pads and a visor lock. Scorpion always seems to remember those little safety features, that’s a pro in every other way.
The EXO-T510 is just some helmet, it is 1640 grams and for this size medium neither light nor heavy considering the shell as a polycarbonate. It has a drop-down Sun Visor, it vents okay, it comes through the air, okay and the 270 dollar price tag is okay.
I used this lid for the can-am Spyder review last year and it left no impression whatsoever, it’s just some helmet. Unless you have eyeglasses, in which case the EXO-T510 and it’s air fit system, is brilliant.
Features
Premium polycarbonate shell is engineered to minimize weight and disperse impact
EverClear No-Fog face shield optically-clear with anti-scratch hardened coating and 100% UV protection
SpeedView SunVisor with 3 positions setting also features EverClear anti-fog coating on all surfaces
AirFit Liner Inflation System inflatable cheek pad system for a superior personalized fit.
KwikWick II Liner Fabric anti-microbial fabric keeps you cool and dry in warm weather, warm in cool weather and easily removable and washable KwikFit cheek pads allow easy on and off of the most common styles of eyeglasses
Emergency Release System tabs located on the neck roll allow easy removal of the cheek pads by trained emergency medical personnel
Ellip-Tec Ratchet System is the easy, Secure, tool-less face shield that changes in seconds and also pulls the shield back against the eye port gasket during closing to ensure a proper seal
Aero-Tuned Ventilation with four intake ports across the front of helmet force cool air in while one MEGA exhaust vents maximize movement of hot air out
Face Shield Lock/Vent System securely locks the shield in place or turn down the lever to allow light airflow into the helmet
3 shell sizes
DOt Approved
5-year warranty
Arai XD-4 Adventure Helmet
Tumblr media
The best AVG helmet for wearing glasses is the Arai XD-4 (available from amazon), in fact, this is the best eyeglass helmet in my entire article. The padding falls away above each ear-opening into an expansive free space.
This is the only helmet I have worn that does not inhibit glasses. They go on without pressure points they, stay on without pressure points and there are oodles of room to adjust without pressure points.
It’s hard to show but easy to describe. Wearing glasses in the Arai XD-4, It’s like wearing glasses with no helmet at all.
The other thing is that Arais padding has 5 millimeters of peel away foam, so even if you don’t get a perfect fit for your glasses off the factory line you can just make like the card and make it so.
The Arai XD-4 might be the best for the IED helmet in the world but it is also one of my favorite adventure lids.
The XD-4 is a true 50/50 helmet. It’s reasonably light, 1,650 grams for a size medium and breezy with rear visor vents and four-way chimneys.
The XD-4 is an airy helmet to float around the trail but it’s also brilliant on the pavement. It has better soundproofing than almost anything in its class and idiot-proof aerodynamics.
I mean no matter what Toula system you have, ratchets, thumb screws, whatever nothing is going to be easier than the smoosh down pull up Sun peak.
On the XD-4 idiot-proof safety is a whole other discussion for a whole other article, in short, though the XD-4’s external parts, the Sun peak the vent cowls they’re all designed to snap off in case of a crash rather than transferring torque to your neck.
The helmet also passed snow and it has emergency quick-release cheek pads so yeah, it’s safer than almost any other ADV lid.
Two things I don’t like about the XD-4.
The I port is too small for large frame goggles and I can’t afford one at $700. When it comes to wearing goggles under a supersport helmet I got screwed, that’s because the most comfortable option is also the most expensive.

Arai Corsair-X Race Helmet
Tumblr media
The Arai Corsair-X available from Motorcycle House.com costs a thousand dollars, so nobody wants to buy one. It’s too bad really because the thing is remarkable, it looks small and slippery from the outside but once you get your head in here it feels hugely spacious and precise, it’s like an optical illusion.
Just like the XD-4, that means your glasses can slide and stay in without any pressure points. It also has that five-millimeter peel away from foam customizable padding, if you need to make even more room.
Plus the visor lock can double as a leaver, opening the shield the cracks or your glasses don’t fog. That’s a good thing too because otherwise, this chin curtain locks in way too much humidity.
Arise big thing is glancing blows which I already touched on a bit and these cowls are designed to snap off. These side pods are sunk flush with the shell, even the visor was designed with a sliding pivot point. and that just allows the hinge to sit lower so more of the upper shell can be perfectly round.
The result is one of the safest snell helmets out there and like I said easily the best racing helmet for wearing eyeglasses.
I love the Corsair-X, and there’s no way in hell I can afford one. So I threw on my glasses and scoured the shelves for a cheaper alternative. I tried every Bell star.
I tried the ARF-10 and 11. I tried HJC’s and LS 2s and Schubert’s and scorpions and what was the second-best option I found? the 650 dollars Shoei RF-1200.
Features
VAS (Variable Axis System) shield and side pods are exclusive to the Arai Corsair X Helmet
Dual function lever releases both the side pod and the face shield for quick and simple face shield removal
VAS shield latch system captures and holds the face shield closed and provides a de-mist position to slightly crack the shield open
VAS MAX Vision face shield provides excellent visibility in all seasons thanks to the included Pinlock insert
Neckroll is removable and has additional exhaust channels to remove interior heat
Cheek pads have the Emergency Release Tab feature
IC Duct5 forehead vent provides 11% more airflow than the Corsair V, features 3 positions and is overall large and easy to operate with gloves
PB SNC2 Shell has superb tensile strength due to a variety of carefully-positioned materials and lightweight resin
Arai’s R75 shell shape creates a rounder, smoother helmet to enhance energy and impact dispersion
Includes clear Pinlock insert
Snell 2015 and DOT approved
Shoei RF-1200
Tumblr media
So the Shoei RF-1200 available from Motorcycle House.com ain’t exactly cheap but it is roomy and comfy to wear with glasses. I will say that the on/off maneuver is just a little bit finicky in here, the sport helmets are made to fit snug so I guess that’s hardly surprising.
Odds are you’ve already heard the deets on this helmet, every one of their grandmothers has one. It’s one thousand five hundred and seventy-five grams for a size medium which is actually 25 less than the Arai course Rx thanks to a clever weave of organic and glass fibers.
Now, this helmet passed Snell ratings and it has this height rimmed racers cut, which poses less risk of breaking your clavicle. It also frees up neck movement to go into that full tuck position or to shoulder check on the losers behind you.
The last big benefit of the Shoei RF-1200 is quietness. Shoei threw in more soundproofing and a tighter visor spring since the last iteration, and so this helmet locks out road noise better than most.
It also ventilates worse than most, especially at close speeds and that is the definition of karma.
Features
Four shell sizes
Dual-density EPS liner
Superior ventilation
3D Max-Dry System II Liner
E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick-Release System) CWR-1 Shield System
Neatly secures chin strap
Includes Pinlock pins and lens insert
Includes breath guard and chin curtain
Snell M2015 and DOT Certified
HJC RPHA-Max Modular Helmet
Tumblr media
Finally, the best modular helmet to wear with glasses is the HJC RPHA-Max and is available from amazon.com.
To be honest most modular helmets are pretty easy to wear with glasses. They don’t wrap the face as tight as a standard helmet, and they flip up, so it’s really easy to put your glasses on and off in the open position.
The HJC RPHA-Max has an extra advantage, partially because it’s roomy in the temples with eyeglass channels that are deeper than average, and partially because of the RPHA-Max vents so well. So fogging on your glasses is rarely an issue.
I was secretly hoping the RPHA-Max would prove most comfortable to wear with glasses because it’s such an easy helmet to recommend. The carbon aramid and fiberglass shell bring the way down to 1580 grams, which is wetter than pretty much everything in its class.
It just feels nice., it feels premium, it feels more expensive than the five hundred and fifty dollar price tag.
This wouldn’t be a review without some negative feedback, so here we go.
The Sun Visor is shit. For one it’s nowhere near dark enough, for two you have to press the button and the lever at the same time to reach that third in the lowest position which is only really easy if you’re using both hands, and then whoa, what the hell am I piloting the motorcycle with.
The third problem is HJC uses such a wimpy spring that it barely retracts fully when it’s new, let alone two years down the road.
Features
One-Touch integrated three-position adjustable smoke tinted sun shield; optional tinted sun shields available
Superior fog resistant clear Pinlock max vision shield comes complete with a clear Pinlock insert; extremely quiet helmet at even high speeds
Superior fog resistant clear Pinlock max vision shield comes complete with a clear Pinlock insert; RapidFire ii shield replacement system: simple and secure shield ratchet system provides ultra-quick, tool-less removal and installation
2-Stage shield closure mechanism; compresses shield into eye port gasket providing an extremely secure seal; ACS advanced channeling ventilation system; full front to back airflow flushes heat and humidity up and out
Cool4Ever interior; lightweight, moisture-wicking, odor-free and antibacterial, premium soft feel with ginkgo extract; innovative new fabric offers self-cooling properties, cooling faster than other major fabrics
That’s it for the best eyeglass motorcycle helmets, thanks for reading and safe riding.

The Growth In Music Festivals
Tumblr media
Coachella sees on average 250,000 festival goers over the course of its two week period.
Ultra capped out it’s attendance this last year at 165,000 people.
Exit Festival in Serbia, sees an average of 75,000 people per day.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin hosts 800,000-plus people during its 11 day music festival: Summerfest.
Each year thousands of festivals are held across the globe. Each respectively bringing in a solid crowd and a solid line of artists. So I wonder... Why are people attending more festivals each year?, Why do artists agree to participate?, and what is the incentive behind the rapid increase in the number of festivals over the last few years?
American DJ, Grammy nominated record producer, singer and musician Porter Robinson just announced that he will be curating/ co-hosting “Multiverse Festival” in Oakland, CA which will make it the 4th music festival to hit the East Bay. The logistics of what the festival vibe and general genre invite is, is still unknown, but buzz around the festival is already growing over social media.
Year after year we see artists, record labels, and entertainment groups come together to elaborate on the next big festival to hit the scene… and quite frankly the reasons for doing so are obvious. (Except for my boy Ja Rule and Billy McFarland… someone should’ve stopped the Fyre Fest mess before it started)
A positive for local economy
Cities are becoming more accepting of the approach entertainment companies make with the idea of hosting a music festival, because of the opportunity these events bring for a huge amount of local spend. Think about it, for those traveling there are hotel and airbnb costs, and local business see a boost in foot traffic. A study conducted in 2013 found that the average festival goer spends $35 per day outside the festival in the local county. But not only are local businesses thriving during these events,  jobs are being created for those helping construct and maintain the festival venues during their weekend runs.
Festivals are all about creating a sense of community
Ask festival goers why they spend bank to go to these events, and the answer almost always will manifest itself on the idea that festivals create a sense of community for music enthusiast (and they fulfill the egoistic urge we have for wanting to create a feeling of FOMO amongst our friends…yeah I’m talking about you) For music lovers, festivals are an escape from our day to day lives, a place to reconnect with friends, and most importantly a place to find communal appreciation for what music is all about. Music festivals become a center-ground for people in all walks of life, and for the 2-3 days that festivals are held, we tend not to pay any attention to the worries of the outside world.
A large number of people have made festival going a yearly happening (myself included, let me flex on those 7 years of going to Coachella real quick), and many attend multiple festivals throughout the year. The community and environment that these festivals create is unmatched, and the offerings of music and art are most always versatile enough to please any goer.
Festivals are a steal!
With that being said, music festivals are a total steal... Ok most are (Coachella gotta chill with the prices) for an average of $250-350, you get the opportunity to see a large number of artistry within the span of 3 days. If you think about it, the average spend on a concert ticket is about 50-90 bucks, 3 concerts equals $270. For that amount (plus an extra 100) you can attend Outside Lands and catch about 85 different acts. I understand though, more often than not, the costs to go to one of these festivals tends to be higher when accounting for travel, stay, and those festival outfits. But we can't deny that no other environment provides us with the opportunity to catch so many performers in one place.
There is big money to be made
Ok here we go with the math again… Coachella General Admission passes this year were $429. Last year the festival was capped at 125,000 tickets per weekend in total, that brought 53.6 million dollars, that is 107.2 million for the two weekends it is held.
Ok stay with me
The average headliner gets paid 3 million, that is a total of 9 million in headliner costs. A second tier performer gets about 120k-150k and everyone else is at about 10k-75k…
Ok I kinda did the math… so here are the totals (keep in mind I am also really bad at math)
Coachella pays 12.4 million dollars in performer spend, that leaves them with 41.2 MILLION DOLLARS (per weekend). Obviously there are a ton of other costs associated, like labour, venue, technicians, and marketing spend (although I am sure at this point they really don’t do much) but damn they still making hella bank. They are generating a huge income to the sector that is festival entertainment and the after effects of these events also helps carry that money over to the general music industry.
This generation values experience
Not only do festivals create a sense of community, but these events also help feed the urge millennials have to spend their time on experiences rather than material things. A study conducted by Expedia claimed that 74 percent of Americans prioritize experiences over products. The reason we value experiences is simple... they make us happier! Experiences are also more shareable, which is important to us basic ass bitches who live for the gram. It’s easier and more effective to share pictures and stories from a festival than it is to show pictures of a new bag you just bought.
The spur of festivals doesn't seem to be slowing down. As long as we are willing to spend the money, and as long as entertainment industries are finding new and innovative themes and genres to bring to the festival spotlight, we are bound to go to these events.
I am personally a huge fan of festivals, it’s a music junkie’s paradise. So I hope more artists like Porter come together to bring a different perspective and feel to the scene.
